This doctoral dissertation proposes a study of some gallicisms present in a corpus of Italian cantari of the XIV and XV centuries, to better understand the dynamics and methods of reuse of French sources. Critics have recognized in cantari, a genre closely linked to the oral and performative dimension, the result of a long and vast process of reworking the most varied French models, from broad fictional narratives to irreverent fabliaux, progressing through courteous stories. Between the cantari and their presumed models there are numerous analogies on a thematic level: the literary motifs were exposed to a widespread circulation throughout Romance Europe and therefore the points of contact between the octave rhyme narratives and the prose or verses are not surprising. While previous studies have traditionally privileged a thematic perspective to reconstruct the relationship between octaves and sources, this work takes a different approach. The starting point of this thesis was the linguistic analysis of the cantari, in which an attempt was made to trace gallicisms attributable to the model, which gave account, that is, of a deep and marked relationship of derivation. The results of this study were unexpected: the words of French or Provençal origin traced in the cantari do not underline of a dependence on the texts in which the critics had traced the sources but, rather, seem to refer to galloromance literature. The idea of a derivational relationship must therefore be revised, especially because, at least in some cantari, we can glimpse the re-proposition of a topical motif rather than a precise model identifiable in a coded text. The first part of this work offers a wide overview of the relationship that binds Italian to the Gallo-Romance languages - French and Provençal - from its origins, then retraces the history of the studies on gallicisms, as seen in Reto Bezzola's Abbozzo di una storia dei gallicismi italiani nei primi secoli (1925), the first in-depth work in which there is a systematic cataloging of the items. Then a definition of the corpus of the cantari examined is proposed, illustrating the criteria that led to the selection: the choice fell on those texts which, as mentioned, are traditionally considered to be derived from a literary and codified French model. This section is closed by an in-depth study on the tradition of cantari studies and the foundational aspects of the genre itself, with some general conclusions on the relationships that bind cantari and sources based on the information collected in my linguistic study. Some cantari have been chosen as an example (the Struzione della Tavola Ritonda, which rather closely follows the dictation of Mort li roi Arthur; Carduino who re-elaborates topical motifs common to Perceval and Bel Inconnu and the Cantare dei tre preti, the Canzone dello indovinello and the Lusignacca, novellistic cantari that have some distant affinities with the more licentious fabliaux). The second part of this doctoral dissertations is dedicated to linguistic study, organized in lexical cards: after having listed and briefly discussed some of the excluded words, the section on gallicisms is presented. Each sheet is organized into different sub-units: the list of forms found in the cantari and the register of occurrences is followed by the indication of the lemma and the grammatical category. The etymological discussion comes before the sections focusing on the development of the voice in the galloromance area, in the Italian area and, sometimes, in "border" areas, such as the Franco-Italian one. In conclusion, each sheet ends with an analysis of the use that the authors of the cantari make of these words of galloromance origin: for this reason a comparison with the model has always been sought, to reconstruct the relationships that the octaves intertwine with French and Provençal literature.

The anglicization of French has long been perceived as a major problem and much effort has been made both in France and in Canada to minimize its effects. The gallicization of English, though a problem of much smaller magnitude, has also been observed, particularly in areas such as Quebec where French is the dominant language. However, gallicization his received much less attention than anglicization. In fact, there seems to be little concern among Quebec's anglophones over the gallicization of English, which many do not perceive as being a problem. This lack of interest is not without potential consequences, for, as several linguists have noted, if the current trend towards "Frenglish" is not halted, the English of Quebec's anglo-phone minority may eventually become unintelligible to other English-speaking Canadians. This thesis studies gallicization and has two main objectives: to provide a theoretical and historical background to the phenomenon, and to create a prototype checker of gallicisms. The study includes: a discussion of interference, borrowing and gallicisms, including a definition of the term "gallicism"; a brief history of the English language in Canada with an emphasis on the various influences that have shaped Canadian English; a discussion of Quebec English and its distinguishing feature--gallicisms; a classification system of the different types of gallicism; a set of procedures for verifying suspected gallicisms; the results of an informal experiment where commercially-available tools were applied to a test document containing known gallicisms; a description of a prototype gallicisms checker.

Sensible à l’emprunt linguistique (processus et résultat), nous constatons qu’il vise souvent à rétablir un équilibre entre deux langues (une sorte d’osmose linguistique), lorsque l’une d’entre elle est plus riche dans un domaine déterminé. Conscient qu’il vient combler une lacune lexicale ou apporter un prestige supplémentaire à l’heure de nommer un référent déterminé, nous souhaitons nous centrer sur un domaine porteur (populaire et très médiatisé) : le sport. Nos premières recherches nous révèlent que ce domaine n’a fait l’objet que d’études partielles et qui de surcroît commencent à dater. Il s’agira, donc, de mener une étude sur des emprunts lexicaux dans la langue espagnole actuelle employés dans le domaine du sport. Nous voulons souligner le rôle non négligeable que l’anglicisme et le gallicisme jouent, aujourd’hui, dans la langue espagnole. Nous souhaitons mettre l’accent sur le vocabulaire sportif. Nous souhaitons mettre au jour l’ampleur du phénomène et en dresser une sorte de radiographie précise. Le gallicisme et l’anglicisme sont attestés depuis longtemps en espagnol, mais le domaine exclusif du sport n’a jamais bénéficié d’une étude d’ensemble. Or, il semble propice à l’intégration de termes exogènes. Hapax, créations de discours ou néologismes au long cours finissant par intégrer la langue générale, ces emprunts d’un jour ou de toujours feront l’objet d’une étude formelle (évolution du signifiant graphique et phonologique, de la morphologie avec notamment une fluctuation au niveau du genre), sémantique (restriction, extension ou maintien du sens originel) et thématique (domaines porteurs). Il s’agira d’inventorier le phénomène à observer dans un corpus déterminé (le quotidien sportif généraliste Marca dans sa version papier et numérique durant deux ans 2015-2016). Il s’agit du plus gros tirage de presse en Espagne. Les vocables ainsi répertoriés pourront alors se prêter à une analyse plus fine (première occurrence, raisons d’emprunt, adaptation du signifiant et du signifié, assimilation par la lexicographie descriptive, normative, étude fréquentielle [Corpus de Referencia del Español Actual de la Real Academia]. Les domaines de spécialité permettront de dégager des influences fortes de l’anglais et du français dans certains sports que nous essaierons d’expliquer (invention dudit sport, popularité, canal d’entrée en Espagne…). Nous pourrons également comparer la présence de ces anglicismes et gallicismes dans d’autres langues (anglais, français, allemand) afin de déterminer si ces emprunts sont en passe de devenir des internationalismes… Nous pourrons même, à la lumière des enseignements du passé et des tendances actuelles, essayer de mettre en lumière les sports (émergents ou se popularisant en Espagne) pourvoyeurs des emprunts de demain
Aware of borrowings (process and result), we notice that it often aims at restoring a balance between two languages (a kind of linguistic osmosis), when one of them is richer in a given field. Aware that it fills a lexical gap or brings additional prestige when it comes to appointing a specific referent, we wish to focus on a promising area (popular and highly mediatized): sport. Our initial researches reveal that this area has only been partially studied and is beginning to be dated. Therefore, this will involve carrying out a study on lexical borrowings in the current Spanish language used in sport. We wish to highlight the significant role of anglicism and gallicism in the Spanish language today. We would like to focus on sports vocabulary. We intend to highlight the extent phenomenon and draw up a sort of accurate analysis. Gallicism and anglicism have long been attested in Spanish, but the exclusive domain of sport has never benefited from a comprehensive study. However, it seems propitious to the integration of exogenous terms. Hapax, speech production or neologisms with a long term ending up integrating the general language, these borrowings of one day or always will be the subject of a formal study (evolution of graphic and phonological significant, morphology with in particular a gender fluctuation), semantics (restriction, extension or use of original sense) and thematics (source of the borrowings). It will be a question of inventorying the phenomenon to be observed in a determined corpus (the generalist daily sports newspaper Marca in its paper and digital version for two years 2015-2016). Marca is the Spanish most important sport press in terms of prints. The terms listed can then be analysed in greater detail (the first appearance, the reasons of the borrowings, the adaptations of the significant and the signified, assimilation by descriptive, normative lexicography, the study of frequency [ Corpus de Referencia del Español Actual de la Real Academia]. The specific areas will allow us to identify huge influences of both languages English and French in some sports that we will try to explain (the beginning of each sport, its popularity, its entry channel in Spain). Furthermore, we will try to compare the presence of such anglicisms and gallicisms in other languages such as English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, in order to determine whether these borrowings are in the process of becoming internationalisms. We can even, in the light of some researches of the past and current trends, try to highlight the sports (emergent sports or which are being popularised) that will provide the borrowings of tomorrow

Dans ce travail nous avons essayé de présenter une analyse globale de l'organisation lexicale et sémantique des structures idiomatiques du francais. Le cadre théorique en la matière vient de nos objectifs lexicographiques qui consistent essentiellement a tirer une ligne de démarcation entre la zone idiomatique et d'autres zones du vocabulaire. Les problèmes qui font l'objet de nos recherches ici ont été choisis en vue de leurs applications dans la construction des dictionnaires des locutions. Le présent travail se répartit en six chapitres. Le premier chapitre concerne l'analyse des dénominations différentes de l'unité idiomatique, suivie d'une première série de critères idiomatologiques. Dans le deuxième chapitre nous aborderons en détail les modèles de l'idiomaticité qui ont été écrits pour les structures idiomatiques de l'anglais, de l'allemand et du francais. La position et la portée de chaque modèle seront etudiées avant que nous nous embarquions sur notre modèle représentationnel d'idiomaticité. Vers le milieu de ce chapitre une deuxième série de critères idiomatologiques (redéfinition) sera présentée ou l'unité idiomatique, c. A. D. La locution sera définie comme unité polylexicale, figée, et figurée. Les considérations à propos de ces critères nous conduiront à démontrer la morphologie spécifique du système syntaxique et du système sémantique des locutions ou notre hypothèse de base consistera à établir une structure bipède dans les systèmes en question ; ainsi la syntaxe idiomatique et la sémantique idiomatique seront conçues comme deux systèmes inter-reliés qui marchent chacune sur ses deux pieds (syntaxe bipède et semantique bipède) : l'un compositionnel et l'autre non compositionnel. Dans une telle optique le figement sera demontré comme la fixité de l'inter-pénétration de compositionalité et de non compositionalité du sens idiomatique dans la mesure où ce sens spécifique qui est un sens unitaire prend le pas sur les sens des mots constitutifs de la locution, et aussi dans la mesure où les fonctions référentielles de ceux-ci sont suspendues (partiellement ou complétement) sur les plans de la syntaxe et de la sémantique. Dans le troisième chapitre nous mettrons en avant quatre zones sémantiques dans les structures idiomatiques, ce sont : la zone analogique, la zone non analogique
This research attempts to provide an overall analysis of the lexical and semantic organization of idiomatic structures in french. The theoretical framework presented here comes from our lexicographical objectives consisting primarily of drawing a line of demarcation between the idiomatic zone of the vocabulary and other lexical zones. The issues for discussion are chosen with a view to possible applications of a dictionary of french idioms. Chapter one starts out with an examination of different denominations of the idiomatic unit, which will be followed by a first series of idiomatic criteria. Chapter two presents a detailed discussion of some current models of idiomaticity written for english, german and french. Here, we will study the position of each of these models on the idiom before embarking on our own model. In the middle of this chapter we will present a second series of idiomaticity criteria according to which idiom will be defined as a polylexical, frozen and figurative (in a non-poetic sense of the term). Near the end of the chapter the specific morphology of the syntactic and semantic systems of idioms will be fully analyzed ; our basic hypothesis is that the systems in question are inter-related and they walk both on two feet, of which one is compositional and the other noncompositional, hence we will define frozenness as the fixedness of semantic interpenetration of compositionality and non-compositionality in the idiomatic meaning in such a way that (1) the unitary meaning overrides the conjoined meanings of its words, and (2) insofaras the referential functions of the latter are suspended (partially or completely) on the syntactic as well as on the semantic plane of the language. Chapter three surveys four semantic areas in idiomatic structures : analogical area, non-analogical area, forged area, and complex area. These areas will be studied in the light of different processes of frozenness. In chapter four we will deal with some microstructural facts and the epistemological dimensions of frozenness. Pour aborder la traduction des expressions idiomatiques (EI) en contexte, nous nous sommes situés dans un cadre de communication. Notre travail est parti du constat suivant : au Cambodge, il existe toujours une idée reçue selon laquelle une EI est systématiquement traduite par une EI, une formulation idiomatique ou une correspondance préétablie. Cette tendance s’explique par le souci de la correspondance stylistique. Or, dans les emplois associés à des vouloir-dire différents, nous supposons qu’une EI donne lieu à des traductions différentes. Le présent travail vise à la fois à réfuter cette idée reçue et à vérifier l’universalité de la théorie interprétative, source des stratégies applicables à la traduction en général, y compris celle des EI du français à la langue khmère. Celle-ci est beaucoup moins habituée à l’usage des EI dans les documents écrits que le français. Pour atteindre l’objectif fixé, nous nous sommes fondés en particulier sur la théorie interprétative, la théorie du skopos et l’analyse de discours. Dix EI, classées de la plus à la moins transparente, dans cent extraits dont la grande majorité tirée de journaux, ont été passées au crible pour, dans un premier temps, appréhender le sens, trouver des rapprochements et des nuances de sens de la même EI et, dans un deuxième temps, proposer une traduction adaptée. Suite aux constats découlant de cet exercice, un ensemble de recommandations est proposé afin de contribuer à la remise en cause des méthodes de traduction au Cambodge
To examine the translation of idiomatic expressions (IE) in context, we set our study within the framework of communication. Our work has started from the following observation : in Cambodia, there’s always a misconception according to which an IE is systematically translated by an IE, an idiomatic phrase or a pre-established correspondence. This tendency is explained by the concern of stylistic correspondence. And yet, in the uses associated to different meanings, we suppose that an IE comes to different translations. The present work aims both at disproving this misconception and confirming the universality of the interpretative theory, source of the strategies applicable to all translations, including translating IE from French into Khmer language. IE are much less used in written documents in Khmer than in French. To reach our purpose, we have based our study on the interpretative theory, the SkoposTheory and discourse analysis in particular. Ten IE, classified from the less to the more transparent, in one hundred extracts mainly taken out from newspapers, were first analysed to understand the meaning, find connections and nuances of meaning of the same IE, and subsequently to suggest adequate translations. Following the assessments resulting from this exercise, a set of recommendations has been proposed in order to contribute to the questioning of the translation methods in Cambodia

Cette thèse s'articule autour de trois objectifs principaux, inscrits dans une perspective développementale. Le premier objectif concerne les processus de construction de la signification figurée d'expressions idiomatiques jugées familières, métaphoriquement opaques ou transparentes. Il s'agit d'une part d'évaluer le rôle de l'information contextuelle avec l'avancée en âge et, d'autre part, de repérer quand la connaissance de la convention linguistique devient un outil cognitif de compréhension des expressions idiomatiques. Nos résultats mettent en évidence un moment de développement important aux alentours de 11 ans et soulignent l'importance de l'adolescence pour le développement de certains aspects pragmatiques du langage et de la construction des significations figurées. Le deuxième objectif de ce travail est d'apporter quelques éclairages sur les modalités d'acquisition des expressions idiomatiques : les expressions idiomatiques métaphoriquement opaques et transparentes sont elles apprises de la même façon ? Nous recueillons plusieurs indicateurs susceptibles d'étayer l'idée d'un apprentissage différentiel des locutions idiomatiques. Le troisième objectif majeur de ce travail concerne l'approche des processus initiaux du traitement d'expressions idiomatiques, afin de déterminer quel sens est activé lors des premiers moments de la compréhension. La structure interne des expressions (i. E. Leurs caractéristiques : transparence métaphorique, plausibilité littérale et prédictibilité) semble ici aussi avoir son importance
Three objectives hang together this thesis, in a developmental perspective. The first objective is related to the construction of figurative meaning of familiar idioms, metaphorically opaque or transparent. It is question on the one hand of evaluating the role of contextual information in children and adolescents and, on the other hand, of defining the moment when the knowledge of the linguistic convention become a cognitive tool for understanding idioms. The age of 11 years old seem to be the beginning of an important developmental moment for the construction of idiomatic meaning. The second objective is to determine the way metaphorically opaque and transparent idioms are learned; our results indicate that opaque and transparent idioms should be learned in different ways. The third objective is to define which signification is activated during early comprehension; internal structure of idioms (transparency, literality and predictability) seem here rather important

Cette thèse traite de la traduction des expressions idiomatiques somatiques entre les langues française et italienne. Son objectif est de démontrer que les expressions idiomatiques doivent et peuvent être traduites. Cette étude se compose d'une analyse sur les origines, les caractéristiques morphosyntaxiques, le sens métaphorique et la valeur énonciative des expressions ; différentes théories et divers courants linguistiques sont pris en compte, afin de souligner l'importance explicative et affective des locutions dans le discours oral et littéraire. La contribution des théories et des pratiques traductives met en relief les problèmes majeurs liés à la traduction des tournures idiomatiques : la fidélité, l'orientation, la connotation. En ce qui concerne les méthodes adoptées, l'équivalence, le calque et la traduction-création sont les procédés suggérés par ce travail. Enfin, une démarche traductive est proposée, qui prend en compte des paramètres tels que le type de texte, le destinataire et la forme que les expressions revêtent dans le discours littéraire. La thèse se compose de deux volumes, l'un d'entre eux étant réservé à la présentation les listes d'expressions verbales somatiques de l'italien au français et du français à l'italien
This doctoral thesis deals with the translation of idiomatic somatic expressions between italian and french languages. It aims to demonstrate that idiomatic expressions must et can be translated. This study is composed by an analysis of origins, morphosyntactical characteristics, metaphorical sense and conversational value of expressions ; various theories and linguistic currents are taken into consideration in order to underline the explanatory and affective importance of idioms in oral and literary speech. Translation theories and practices'contribution point out the greatest problems related to idiomatic expressions'translation : fidelity, orientation, connotation. As for the methods adopted, equivalence, calque and translation-creation are the procedures that this study suggests. In the end, this thesis proposes a translation methodology that takes into account parameters like type of test, addressee and form that idioms have in literary speech. This thesis is in two volumes, one of which presents the lists of verbal somatic expressions from french to italian language and from italian to french language

Le present travail de recherche comprend trois parties distinctives : a) une partie lexico-syntaxique, ou sont abordees des questions relatives au figement linguistique et aux structures syntaxiques et morphologiques des synapsies, semi-synapsies, locutions verbales, prepositionnelles et adverbiales contenant le mot coup; b) une partie semantique analytique et,schematique traitant des sens et dessignifications du coup de meme que d'une analyse stylistique descriptive des figures de style et des niveaux de langue compris dans les expressions. La partie semantique contient aussi des considerations theoriques sur les << vrais >> sens du coup, sur son signifie de puissance et ses signifies d'effet. La relation entre le figement syntaxique et la figure semantique est aussi etudiee. C) une partie traitant des problemes de traduction et relevant de la traductologie : la difference entre le corpus lexicographique - les expressions du corpus telles qu'elles se trouvent dans les sources lexicographiques depouillees - et le corpus textuel - les expressions dans leur usage effectif dans la parole. La presente these, qui etudie 232 expressions figees et figurees du francais contenant le mot coup et leurs equivalents et interpretations en suedois (environ 300 expressions), fournit aussi des considerations sur la relation historique entre ces deux langues, de meme que l'etat de la question quant a la frequence et a la comprehensibilite de nombreuses expressions etant d'un style moins repandu (style argotique, vulgaire). La creation lexicale, dont notamment la vaste productivite du coup, est aussi une question abordee dans cette etude.

Le lexique de la langue portugaise brésilienne contemporaine est, à tout moment, prolongées par des unités lexicales originaires d’autres langues, cette dynamique est notre objectif dans cette étude, notamment l’apparition de gallicismes, emprunts et les mots étrangers français. Ces lexèmes appartiennent au répertoire lexical de la langue portugaise au Brésil depuis la fin du XIXème et début du XXème siècles, lorsque la Belle Époque, le mouvement culturel français, est arrivé à Rio de Janeiro, capitale du Brésil à cette époque. Afin d’identifier et d’analyser ces unités lexicales du français en portugais du Brésil, nous avons utilisé le Dictionnaire Houaiss (2009), dans sa version électronique, pour être considéré comme l’un des dictionnaires généraux brésiliens les plus importants et étudiés. Nous utilisons un autre dictionnaire de langue général renommé, monolingue Le Grand Robert de la Langue Française (2001) pour comparer les 1.005 occurrences de gallicismes et les organiser dans des champs lexicaux, basés sur les théories de Geckler (1976) et Coseriu (1977), nous comparons tous les 146 gallicismes dans les trois champs avec les plus grandes nombreuses d´unités lexicales relationnés à les signatures thématiques: Psychologie, Militaire et de la Cuisine. L’analyse de ces champs a révélé de relation systématique entre vos items et l’adoption de ce lexique et les influences françaises dans la culture brésilienne. Plus de confirmer notre hypothèse de la relation entre la langue et la culture française au Brésil, l’étude de l’analyse, en perspective lexicographique, montré quelques failles dans l’insertion des gallicismes dans le Dictionnaire Houaiss (2009), puisque la plupart de ces unités lexicales n’ont pas été trouvés dans le Dictionnaire français et/ou souvent ont présenté étymologies différentes de celles présentées par le dictionnaire brésilien. Face à l’hypothèse que le dictionnaire est le trésor lexical d’une communauté, nous pensons que les relations appartenant aux domaines de gallicismes avec les plus grandes nombreuses d´unités lexicales nous avons fait comprendre les principales influences françaises dans la culture du Brésil.
O léxico do português brasileiro contemporâneo é, a todo tempo, ampliado por unidades lexicais oriundas de outras línguas; esta dinâmica é nosso foco neste estudo, em especial a ocorrência dos galicismos, os empréstimos e os estrangeirismos franceses. Tais itens lexicais pertencem ao repertório lexical do português do Brasil desde fins do século XIX e início do XX, quando a Belle Époque, movimento cultural francês, chegou ao Rio de Janeiro, capital do Brasil àquela época. A fim de identificarmos e analisarmos essas unidades lexicais da língua francesa no português do Brasil, utilizamos o dicionário Houaiss (2009), em sua versão eletrônica, por ser considerado um dos dicionários gerais brasileiros mais renomados e estudados. Recorremos a outro renomado dicionário de língua geral, o monolíngue Le Grand Robert de la Langue Française (2001) para cotejar as 1.005 ocorrências de galicismos e, organizando-as em campos lexicais, com base nas teorias de Geckeler (1976) e Coseriu (1977), comparamos e analisamos todos os 146 galicismos nos três campos com maior número de itens lexicais relacionados às rubricas temáticas: Psicologia, Militar e Culinária. A análise destes campos evidenciou relação sistemática entre os seus itens e a adoção desse léxico e as influências francesas na cultura brasileira. Mais que confirmar nossa hipótese da inter-relação entre língua e cultura francesas no Brasil, o estudo, de perspectiva lexicográfica, nos permitiu verificar algumas falhas na inserção dos galicismos no Dicionário Houaiss (2009), pois grande parte dessas unidades lexicais não foram encontradas no dicionário francês e/ou muitas vezes apresentavam etimologia diversa daquela apresentada pelo dicionário brasileiro. Na premissa de que o dicionário é o tesouro lexical de uma comunidade, entendemos que os encadeamentos dos galicismos pertencentes aos campos com o maior número de unidades lexicais nos fizeram a perceber as principais influências francesas na cultura do Brasil.

Although there are units larger than the word in language, linguists have not been able to agree on a definition of these units. This study examines a variety of notions, relevant in the study of ”fixed” or ”frozen” expressions in contemporary French. Criteria such as memorization, unique context, non-compositionality, marked syntax, lexical blocking and grammatical blocking are analyzed in detail. A closer look at them reveals that in fact only one of them, lexical blocking, is both necessary and sufficient in the description of a fixed expression. The other criteria are, however, also important to the notion of ”fixedness”. It may well be that the criteria that have often been proposed in linguistic literature would benefit from being organized in a family resemblance rather than being used as necessary and sufficient conditions.

The main objectives of the work was to study the extralingvistic reasons for borrowing, extention and persistence of the French words in the Russian language, to create a dictionnary of french lexical borrowings taken on russian language system (available as supplement of the thesis, volume two) and on the basis of comparison of the french words and their russian equivalents to generalize the rules of assimilation of french lexical borrowings into the Russian language from the different linguistic points of view - phonetic, graphic, morphological, semantic. The aim of the diploma thesis New French loanwords in the Czech language is to prove that in certain fields French is still significant source of enriching Czech vocabulary. As the main research method has been used the excerption of the neological material which is assembled in the electronic database Neomat. The first chapter of theoretical part is devoted to the neology and neologisms. Focus is given to the Czech and foreign approaches as well on how to define and classify neologisms. Next chapter deals with terminological specification of the borrowings, their classification and adaptation- integrating procedures via which are loanwords incorporated into the given language. In the practical part the borrowings are firstly characterized; the characterization is based on the communication field in which the loanwords occur. Than follows alphabetically ordered dictionary that incorporates 182 new French loanwords, it describes their meanings and determine morphological and word class characteristics. The majority of the new Gallicisms the Czech language are nouns and adjectives and they originates from the fields of gastronomy, oenology, art and fashion.
