Abstract:
The topic of my graduation thesis is ?Fundraising in the Czech Republic: The Winton Train Project?. The first part of the thesis deals with the options and obtaining of the financial resources for various cultural events from many different sources: from grants and public funds, organizations and committees concentrated around the bodies of the EU, funds of respective regions, the ministries of the Czech Republic as well as from individual Czech cities. I describe that it is also possible to approach non-public sources of finance, such as from businesses for example. The second part of the thesis provides the background, production and analysis of the Winton Train project itself, focusing specifically on the fundraising activity of this socio-cultural event. The third and the final part reflects the production and fundraising experience I gained while carrying out the project ?Charles Bridge 2010? - the outdoor exhibition of photographs in Prague?s Kampa Park. The goal of the thesis, ?Fundraising in the Czech Republic: The Winton Train Project? is to explain the complexity of the task of fundraising, which does not lie simply in obtaining financial means. Fundraising is a set of various complex activities intertwined with the sustainable existence of civil society.

Abstract:
This research sought to explore organisational factors that drive successful fundraising. Drawing on Strategic Management theory, this qualitative study examined the key intraorganisational factors that organisations develop to be effective at fundraising within the context of extraorganisational factors that can affect fundraising effectiveness. In this way, it helps build a fundraising effectiveness theory. The findings from this study afford leaders of nonprofits an opportunity to reflect on their reasons for pursuing fundraising as an income stream, their level of understanding of fundraising, the degree of investment they are willing to make and the critical leadership required by the CEO.

Abstract:
This paper analyzes the importance and use of marketing for fundraising in the cultural sector. Namely, due to limited public financial resources and social changes in general, the cultural sector should turn to the market and to new sources of financing and implement a fundraising strategy. Activities are needed to attract financial resources from various sources to ensure the income necessary for its operation and sustainability. To be successful in fundraising and ensure stable business, the cultural sector needs to implement various activities that are usually associated with the profit sector (planning, management, marketing, analysis), which also includes an entrepreneurial way of thinking and acting. This paper aims is to identify the role of marketing in fundraising and the effectiveness of marketing strategies for the success of fundraising in cultural institutions. Empirical research was conducted on cultural institutions in the Republic of Croatia with an emphasis on the use of unconventional marketing for fundraising purposes. The conclusion is that this type of marketing affects the successful collection of funds and, ultimately, the success of the business and the financial result of the cultural institution. The results of the research indicate that it is necessary to implement an appropriate marketing strategy for the purpose of successful fundraising, as well as to educate the employees of cultural institutions in the field of marketing and fundraising.

Full text
Abstract:
In times of perpetual budget cuts, project fundraising can be a difficult feat for many mechanical engineering technology departments. This is especially true for smaller departments. In fact, it is a problem that has plagued the department of Engineering Technology and Industrial Studies (ETIS) at Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) for many years. Recently, however, the faculty of the ETIS department at MTSU has been able to overcome this difficulty through a series of five carefully prepared and executed steps that MTSU has entitled “DREAM.” The five steps that will be discussed in this paper are as follows: 1. Do well in one prestigious, national competition. 2. Request additional funding after success. 3. Establish relationships with industry. 4. Additional projects. 5. Make the most of the learning experience. This paper was written to document the experiences of the ETIS department at MTSU with the hopes of giving other mechanical engineering technology departments additional insight into fundraising techniques. The beauty of the DREAM plan is that it makes fundraising much easier because industries are usually willing to support successful teams that do well in national competitions. The DREAM plan has greatly enhanced the learning experience of the students at MTSU in several ways. First, it gives them hands-on experience that will benefit them in the real world. Next, it allows them to apply knowledge from classroom lectures and labs to an actual project from the first sketch to the competition. Finally, it gives them valuable contacts with potential future employers. These are opportunities that MTSU’s students might not be able to experience otherwise. With internal funding in such short supply, perhaps other departments could benefit from the DREAM plan as well.

Abstract:
The creation of fundraising scenarios for state-founded universities and the selection of the most appropriate scenario is an important factor in the successful attraction of donations. The study will provide an analysis of three possible scenarios for fundraising, which have been evaluated by seven experts: representatives of patrons as private persons and enterprises, patron's fellow, a representative of the municipality, a representative of the Ministry of Education and Science, a representative of a higher education institution and a representative of a foundation. The first scenario consists of activities aimed at maintaining the existing fundraising trends. The second scenario is associated with a greater involvement of the municipality in attracting patrons to universities, whereas the third scenario comprises a greater state involvement in attracting patrons to universities. Expert opinions were processed using the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) method. Choosing the best-case scenario will create an opportunity for philanthropic organizations of 12 state-founded universities to cooperate more fully with patrons in fundraising for their universities, projects and students.

Abstract:
The present research aims to understand the current situation of strategic communication and public relations applied in the professional field of fundraising in the cultural heritage environment. It observes the current patterns used in the sector to obtain and generate long-term sustainable funding, through the stimulation of investors and International Cooperation projects from the European Union in line with UNESCO. Two international case studies are compared: Spain and Mexico, through the selection of territorial samples in Malaga and San Luis Potosi. The methodology used is based on a combination of in-depth interviews with key informants and content analysis. In the first instance, the degree of application of communication and public relations tools for strategic purposes to directly attract economic resources to the management of cultural heritage (tangible and intangible) in the region is studied. In line with the results obtained, the current parameters and key indicators of the profile of the fundraising professional in public and private cultural management are presented.
