Temana innebar i högre utsträckning fruktan än hopp.

Full textBackground: Many children experience medical procedures as something unpleasant and painful. The first visit a child has with healthcare can be crucial for how the child experiences the healthcare in the future, a negative first visit can lead to hospital-related fear even as an adult. To avoid this it is important that the child get a positive experience in relation to the visit. This can be accomplished with various distraction methods that exist to change the child’s experience and in that way reduce distress and pain. Aim: To examine if distraction methods works at medical procedures to reduce suffering and distress in children receiving care within pediatric care, primary care and inpatient care. Method: A systematic literature review based on 10 quantitative articles from the databases PubMed, The Cochrane Library and Cinahl. Results: Distraction methods can be grouped into different subgroups based on type of distraction: distraction with action, distraction with object, distraction via adult and electronic distraction. This study shows that distraction generally is effective for reducing pain and distress in children during medical procedures. Depending on the child’s age, some distractions are more effective than others are. Two methods that appear effective in all ages is distraction via PlayStation and DITTO. Conclusion: Appliance of distraction methods is an effective way to reduce pain and distress in children subjected to medical procedures. There are numerous methods to choose from where many are effective. Distractions with object or electronic distraction are effective as well as have parents presents.

Full textThe foundation for the thesis is a literature study within two areas: safety and innovation science. In the thesis safety science will revolve around how different methods and various models are used to identify and reduce risks, i.e. to secure the functionality within limited systems. Theories of innovation will among other things revolve around the process of creating ideas and bring them to market. The intention is to present central thoughts and conceptions within these two disciplines. In relation to this stage, theories from innovation will be taken into consideration in order to supplement the general working order of how risks in technical system are handled. The purpose is to enrich the area of safety with inspiration from theory of innovation and to generate hypothesis for continuous research.
Theory of innovation has a tradition of bringing ideas or changes forward while theory of risk mainly revolves on identifying and acting on problems. This will be expressed as a tendency within risk and safety not to take particular parts developed within theory of innovation into consideration, and therefore you may miss valuable knowledge around the ability to bring change to a successful close. This can for example be expressed as theory of innovation has more detailed knowledge surrounding development of a solution, selection of a solution, and how these solutions are best implemented. The study has shown that theory of innovation can supplement the area of risk and safety and that these two areas, in a collected form, can improve the requirement for working with the reduction of risks. The result can from an organizational perspective be about improved conditions for long term survival by an increased awareness into different work strategies strengths’ and weaknesses’.

Full textThe purpose of this study is to examine how MMA is portrayed in Swedish news mediasince historically speaking there has been a stigma about the sport and news media tends to depict it in a very violent manner, which previous studies also shows. The study appliestwo theoretical perspectives, framing theory and moral panic. Through a quantitativecontent analysis combined with a framing analysis a selection of articles are analyzed from some of the biggest sources of news media in Sweden, Aftonbladet, Expressen and SVT Nyheter as well as two MMA focused ones, Kimura and MMANytt. This is done toexamine how different types of news media depicts MMA and, in that way, see differencesand similarities to create a comprehensive understanding of the problem. The results show that the sport has grown and become more legitimate the last few years when compared to previous studies. Despite this a level of moral panic is being mediated in the way articles frame both the sport and its practitioners.

Full textThe aim of the study was to highlight the meaning of what motivation is and can be in the area of nursing care. The method used was a literature study comprised of eight scientific articles. Motivation is an important factor for human beings in the transition from illness to well-being/health. It is the patient’s own motivation that determines how they will reach their goals. Important motivational factors are that the patient has self-awareness, confidence in his/her nurse and a presence of loved ones (relatives and friends). Motivation can be based on fear of the undesired self and pursuit of the desired self where the patients’ financial conditions can negatively affect the motivation due to the fact that financial constraints can affect the patients’ possibility to reach their determined goals. Evidenced based nursing care should define the nursing process and care given by the nurses. The term motivation is missing as a defined evidence based word in the nursing process, nursing diagnosis, nursing goals and nursing measures. To ignore the patients’ motivational journey in the nursing process can lead to a decrease in motivation, increased length of stay and therefore an increased financial cost for society. It is of great importance for future reference to further determine the effect of motivation on the nursing process.

Full textA biological dryer was developed to provide a discharge system for residues and to create a new design to enhance usability. The current version of the product, called a biological dryer, contains no discharge system. This means that the discharge operation today is performed by the user, with the assistance of a separate product which uses air to collect the residues and put it in a bag. The work was conducted at the University of Skövde in cooperation with the firm Pegil Innovations AB, which is conducted in Skultorp. The project began with the analysis of the existing dryer’s func-tions. Information was collected about prospective users’ work methods, existing solutions to similar discharge systems and studies that specializes in design. An idea generation was conducted to identify possible solutions to the discharge system and the design of the dryer. The concepts that arose were measured using a weighted concept selection matrix and the design alternatives that arose were evaluated with a task analysis. The final conceptual solution uses the already installed vacuum pump as a means of transport for the residues. The system was tested with a vacuum pump that creates 100 mBar which was loaned by the company. The results show that the sys-tem works for the purpose. The design and the discharge system were modelled in Creo Parametric 2.0 to show the final results.

Full textOf all the food produced, about one-third is discarded, of which up to 50% is estimated to be avoidable food waste, avoidable food waste is unnecessary food waste, food that could have been eaten if it had been managed better. For example, moldy vegetables. Households account for the largest part of the unnecessary food waste and single person households waste the most food on a per capita basis. This study has examined the waste of fresh fruits and vegetables, as it is the most frequently thrown food. Wasting food is to waste resources which harmfully affects the environment and nature. There is a lot of research on how much food is thrown away and how it affects the environment in a negative way, but there is a lack of research on what is driving the waste. This study, therefore, with research through design, examined the underlying factors of wasting food and how design can be used as an aid to reduce the avoidable waste. Empirical data were gathered from people living in single households. This has been done through internet-based survey, observation and interview and probes. What emerged was that all people throw away fresh fruit and vegetables between one to five times a week even though almost everyone expressed that they do not throw much. Fruits and vegetables are usually thrown away because they are forgotten, usually in the refrigerator boxes caused of the lack of visibility. This study focused on solutions on how to prevent fruit and vegetable from being wasted, by exposing the fresh fruit and vegetables when stored and supporting produce while storing. The purpose of this study was to investigate how research through design can contribute to reducing wastage for individuals in single-person households, and to develop a preventive invention. The conclusion is that a preventive solution should support the fresh fruit and vegetables and at the same time make them visible when stored so that it is not forgotten and thus thrown away. This study shows an example of how such a product could look like.

Full textFood waste is a big problem in today’s society. The biggest problem layswith food produce that has to be transported long distances and requiredifferent steps to keep them fresh during the travel. These kinds of producewould you find in the fruit and- vegetable section at the grocery store. Connectingwith what Livsmedelsverket says: “What kind of fruit and vegetablesyou buy affects the environmental goals of a non-toxic environment andlimited climate impact” (Livsmedelsverket, 2019). The purpose of this studyis to explore how speculative and critical design and utopianism can be usedby product designers to encourage sustainable purchasing behavior by thecostumer at the fruit- and vegetable section at the grocery store. The studycontributes with knowledge for product designers on how to inspire costumersto reflect on sustainable development by designing with utopianism as aguide, with help from speculative- and critical design. Thus, the contributionof knowledge from this study is increased understanding on the use of thesedesign tools and also how designers can implement utopianism in design forsustainable development. The study may also promote changes in purchasingbehaviors. This to encourage sustainable purchasing behaviors. After an ideating and sketching process, a decision was made, after gatheringempirical data, to have the design idea be an example of a utopianmolded scenario for the fruit and- vegetable section at the grocery store. The concept is built on methods for speculative and critical design. Thisdesign idea only partially answers my framing of a question. The reason forthis is that utopianism as a concept in itself, is very subjective. This is why it’sdifficult to determine the design idea to really be utopian. Researchers onutopianism talk more of experiences rather than something concrete that canbe measured. On the other hand, the purpose of encouraging thoughts anddiscussions is something this design idea does fulfill through its user study.

Full textThe purpose of this study is to look into parents’ thoughts about their own fruit consumption, and the one of the family, and also to find out the controlling factors of the choices made of the parents when they buy fruit to themselves and the family. To investigate this, conversation interviews and Go-along-interviews have been used. The interviews were carried out during April 19th 2012 to May 18th 2012.How we eat affects our planet, and the changes we make in our diets changes the use of re-sources. Worldwide there is a direct link between diet, farming and the stress on our planet. Our demand for food has an increased negative effect on the self-sufficiency of food for the people in poorer countries, and it depletes the natural resources of those countries. To remedy this, many scientists see the solution in increased local farming and production, and also local markets.According to classical attitude theory, the consumer strive towards consistency between the three fundamental components of their attitude; knowledge, sense and preparedness. Disso-nance occurs when consistency lacks between these three. The decision-making process for a consumer in a situation of procuring is complex and is affected by many factors; social, physi-ological, psychological, ideological and cultural. The study shows that the children have a great impact on what fruit the parent buys. The health and well-being of the children is highly valued. Another important factor is where the fruit is farmed and how. The price, established habits, the culture in which the parent has been raised and lives, attitudes and fundamental values, perception, packaging, freshness and keep-ing qualities, personal ideology, availability, time, social interactions, and groups of reference are further factors of great importance when buying fruits.

Full textBackground: Earlier studies have shown associations between factors such as smoking and low education level and a lower fruit and vegetable intake. To increase fruit and vegetable consumption it is important to identify groups with low intake. Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the intake of fruit and vegetables among adults and if lifestyle and social factors may be associated with this intake. Method: A study was conducted in Umeå and Örnsköldsvik where convenience samples of 275 adults were asked to participate. After external loss and after exclusion of incomplete questionnaires there were a total of 101 participants in the study. The survey was based on 20 questions, of which 19 were closed. The data was processed and analyzed in SPSS 17.0 with chi-square tests, the level of significance was set to p<0,05. Results: The majority of respondents reported an intake below the recommendation (74%). Of all respondents, 40 participants had low fruit and vegetable intake (<3times/day), 19 had moderate intake (3 times/day) and 42 respondents had high intake (>3 times/day). A significant higher proportion of respondents with high fruit and vegetable intake where found in the groups with high level of education, high physical activity, low alcohol intake, non- smoking, awareness of the National Food Agency´s dietary advice about 500 gram fruit and vegetables per day and the opinion that this advice was important. Conclusion: The results from this survey suggest that further efforts to promote a higher fruit and vegetable intake are needed, especially in the groups who tend to have the lowest intake. Lifestyle may have a greater impact on fruit and vegetable intake than single factors alone. The association between level of education and fruit and vegetable intake makes it important to identify professions who represent a lower education level to see where more effort is needed.

Full textThis thesis covers how automated ordering systems are used within the department in grocery stores that account for the largest share of waste in relation to the quantity delivered, i.e. the fruit and vegetable department. In this report, the term automated ordering system is defined as a system that can collect data on the amount ordered, sold and wasted, and based on that automatically put new orders. The purpose was to determine how resource-efficient the system is. The resources we focused on were staff, money, time, energy and inventory. The study was conducted using a literature study, personal communication with Whywaste and visits to four different grocery stores where the managers of produce department were thoroughly interviewed. Based on the results of the interviews, it was concluded that automated ordering system saves both money and time. The workload on the staff is facilitated and more energy can be spent on creating value for the customers. For example, focusing more on the appearance of the fruit and vegetable department, as the structure and quality of the goods are of great importance. The system also helps new staff to adapt by making it easy to order according to statistics. Some suggestions on how the automated ordering system could be improved have been presented in the report, such as having a scale under the inclined shelves to get the weight in real time. The report also draws attention to automated grading system, a system that classifies the degree of maturity of fruits and vegetables, as well as Whywaste computerized solution for the management of date-labeled goods.

Full textThis report is part of a thesis conducted at the Royal Institute of Technology during the spring 2016. The work has been going on for 20 weeks, commissioned by Butikskonsult AB. Butikskonsult AB is one of Sweden's leading players when it comes to planning, developing and mount retail environments. They develop concepts for everything from small departments to entire shops, and their custoer include a number of ICA stores, Akademibokhandeln and Svenska spel. Butikskonsult offers a wide product range that includes everything from checkout counters to tables for fruit and vegetables and Agripo lifting systems for root vegetables. The work has focused on the opportunity to improve the design of Butikskonsults fruit and vegetable table for grocery stores. Today's tables are well functioning in terms of exposure of goods. Deficiencies are, however, when it comes to the flexibility and ease of use for the shop staff who work with replenishment of goods. To unload tables with goods requires many and heavy lifts, and with the current design the work often is combined with twisted postures. Interviews, observations and own work in stores has been carried out to create a clear picture of the current situation, and based on the collected insights a number of new concepts was developed. One of them was later on selected to be the final one, and was developed further. The work resulted in a flexible table, possible to adapt to each store's current needs. The design also provides improved ergonomic conditions for those working in the shop. Because of the project's limited time frame, a long-term ergonomic measurement has not been possible, but the result has been relying on virtual simulations and existing knowledge in similar areas. A further recommendation is therefore that a physical model is produced and tested in the real environment.

Full textBackground: A study shows that Swedish adults between 18-30 has the lowest intake of fruit and vegetables. They have the least knowledge about food recommendations and one of the obstacles for consumption is their preferences. To prevent disease or maintain good health, it´s important to consume plenty of fruits and vegetables. Objective: The aim of the study was to emphasize young adults' perceptions of their own fruit and vegetable consumption. Method: Qualitative semi-structured interviews were conducted with ten respondents between 18-30 years old. The interviews were recorded and transcribed verbatim and analyzed with qualitative content analysis. Results: Among the respondents, there were various factors that governed their perceptions of fruits and vegetables. The factors we saw were that people in the environment had an impact, which the respondents discussed frequently. Also factors such as economy, environmental perspective, motivation for consumption due to something being healthy or unhealthy, sensory preferences and unwillingness to consume when it was considered strenuous. Allergies that limited the choices were also something that governed. Willingness to consume was a factor that was raised frequently. Feelings that it was important to eat vegetables because it is good and healthy but also that fruit could be unhealthy if it was consumed in excessive amounts as it contains fruit sugar. Conclusion: The perceptions about fruit and vegetables were governed by factors such as upbringing, environment, price, health and associated emotions. The respondents explained how external factors affected their fruit and vegetable consumption. There were also perceptions that a high fruit consumption could be harmful.

Full textOnline grocery shopping is an ever-growing service in Sweden, as more people are starting to purchase their food online. Despite this, the Swedes do not eat well since over 51% of the population is overweight or obese, which can lead to serious diseases. The inclusion of fruits and vegetables in the daily diet has proven to be the optimal way to counteract obesity and diseases. Since year 2010, the term gamification has been formed and has meant that game elements have been used in different contexts outside of games. Studies have shown that the implementation of gamification and game elements such as points, badges and leaderboards in various services has had a positive impact on learning, teaching and, above all, motivation. The purpose of the study was to investigate how gamification could motivate people to purchase more fruit and vegetables via an online grocery shopping site. The study was conducted with a high-fidelity prototype containing the game elements badges, leaderboards, avatars, points, levels and feedback and was tested on six participants who had previously purchased food online. The qualitative methods of observation and interview were used to generate the result. The study resulted in the participants experiencing increased motivation to purchase more fruit and vegetables and showed that gamification could also be implemented in online grocery shopping services.
