Abstract:
Based on an extended fieldwork, the paper discusses the construction of identity in a Brazilian quilombo - a term originally used by the Portuguese authorities to juridically define the flights of the Brazilian slaves. Appealing to a Constitutional Article granting the property of the land to the descendant of the fugitive slaves, the people of Frechal (Maranhão) obtained - after complex events overshadowed by tension and violence - the expropriation of the land bought by an entrepreneur of São Paulo with the precise intent to forcibly expel the local population. Founding their right on an idea of cultural authenticity and mobilizing a symbolism capable of legitimating their claims and of giving them a legal weight, they transformed themselves from object of slavery, discrimination and racism to ethno-political subjects. Proceeding from the analysis of this paradigmatic case, the article shows how the term quilombo can be "re-semanticized" in order to be applicable to the contemporary situations of the Afro-Brazilian population. The actuality of the word, transferred from its original juridical meaning of colonial matrix, is founded on the idea that the quilombos are not isolated survivals of the past to honor in the memory of the heroes that fought against slavery. Rather they represent true projects of a new political order, nuclei of the contemporary resistance founded on the collective property of the land. As such the quilombos are considered as real counterpoints to the neoliberal expansion in the rural areas.

Abstract:

Abstract In this article we introduce a new six - parameters model called the Beta Generalized Exponentiated-Frechet (BGEF) distribution which exhibits decreasing hazard rate. Many models such as Beta Frechet (BF), Beta ExponentiatedFrechet (BEF), Generalized Exponentiated-Frechet (GEF), ExponentiatedFrechet (EF), Frechet (F) are sub models. Some of its properties including rth moment, reliability and hazard rate are investigated. The method of maximum likelihood isproposed to estimate the model parameters. The observed Fisher’s information matrix is given. Moreover, we give the advantage of the (BGEF) distribution by an application using two real datasets

Abstract: Acceptance sampling plans were evaluated to draw valid conclusions regarding lots of finished products. Based on the assumption that the variable under consideration is distributed according to a Frechet distribution, CASP-CUSUM schemes are presented here for optimizing Type-C OC curves and ARLs. The Truncated Frechet distribution, its Type-C OC curve values, and ARL values at different shapes parameters were determined under this assumption. Finally, we determined an optimal CASP-CUSUM scheme that maximizes PA. Keywords: CASP – CUSUM Schemes, Type-C OC curves, ARL Values, Truncated Frechet distribution.

Abstract:
Analysis of a flexible manipulator as an initial value problem, due to its large deformations, involves nonlinear ordinary differential equations of motion. In the present work, these equations are solved through the general Frechet derivatives and the generalized differential quadrature (GDQ) method directly. The results so obtained are compared with those of the fourth-order Runge–Kutta method. It is seen that both the results match each other well. Further considering the same manipulator as a boundary value problem, its governing equation is a highly nonlinear partial differential equation. Again applying the general Frechet derivatives and the GDQ method, it is seen that the results are in good match with the linear theory. In both cases, the general Frechet derivatives are introduced and successfully used for linearization. The results of the present study indicate that the GDQ method combined with the general Frechet derivatives can be successfully used for the solution of nonlinear differential equations.

Abstract:
Frechet derivatives provide the vital information for parametric resistivity inversion, but the calculation for a multidimensional problem is often computer intensive. This paper presents a new technique for fast calculation of the Frechet derivatives of resistivity measurements with respect to formation resistivity properties. The technique, referred to as the auxiliary source array method (ASAM), generalizes the reciprocity principle‐based methods in that for closely spaced receivers it may not be necessary to place a fictitious source at each receiver location. Rather, an auxiliary source array comprised of sparsely spaced fictitious sources can be constructed from which the field for any fictitious source location can be reconstructed. The ASAM was tested with a deviated‐well resistivity model for an array resistivity device that acquires 8 potential, 16 first potential difference, and 14 second potential difference data points at each depth level. The Frechet derivatives calculated by the ASAM agree well with those obtained through the parameter perturbation method. The tests showed that the calculation time of the ASAM has little dependence on the number of parameters for which the Frechet derivatives are to be calculated. The method can calculate the Frechet derivatives of 5 to 138 resistivity parameters with only 20% to 50% additional computer time. For the 138‐parameter model, the ASAM is about two orders of magnitude faster than the parameter perturbation method.

In the present paper, we study a Newton-like method for solving the variational inclusion defined by the sums of a Frechet differentiable function, divided difference admissible function and a set-valued mapping with closed graph. Under some suitable assumptions on the Frechet derivative of the differentiable function and divided difference admissible function, we establish the existence of any sequence generated by the Newton-like method and prove that the sequence generated by this method converges linearly and superlinearly to a solution of the variational inclusion. Specifically, when the Frechet derivative of the differentiable function is continuous, Lipschitz continuous, divided difference admissible function admits first order divided di_erence and the setvalued mapping is pseudo-Lipschitz continuous, we show the linear and superlinear convergence of the method. The Frechet distribution which has a scale and shape parameters, has been found to have wide application in modelling extreme events such as radioactive emission, flood, rainfall, seismic analysis, wind speed, etc. In this research paper, the Bayesian analysis of scale parameter of Frechet distribution was considered. It is necessary to know the best combination of prior distribution and loss function for the parameter estimation. Posterior distribution was derived by uniform and Jeffrey’s prior under the square error, Precautionary, Quadratic and Weighted balance loss function. Bayes estimation and their corresponding risk was obtained by the above stated priors and loss function. Monte Carlo simulations was conducted to compare the performance of the estimators. It is evident that weighted balance loss function when used with uniform prior provides the least posterior risk. Keywords: Frechet Distribution, Non-Informative Prior, Bayesian Estimation, Loss Functions, Monte Carlo Simulations

Abstract:
It was the best of times and the worst of times. Indeed, when the Frechet Triple Flap procedure works, the patient attains a beautiful result with total crown closure. If however, the rotations are not perfectly accomplished, the slightest additional stress results in a tip necrosis, delayed wound healing, and possible dehiscence. Most of the author's problems with the procedure occurred early in the learning curve. Further consultation with Dr. Frechet and modification of flap sizes resulted in an abatement of complications. Problems with a recent case, where all appeared to go well during the extension and rotation procedures, once again emphasize the need for further investigation of the use of delayed random flaps. The satisfaction experienced by the patient when the procedure works without complications and Dr. Frechet's repeated success encourage the author to continue to work to overcome the problems he has experienced trying to duplicate Dr. Frechet's results.

AbstractAn F-measure on a Cartesian product of algebras of sets is a scalar-valued function which is a scalar measure independently in each coordinate. It is demonstrated that an F-measure on a product of algebras determines an F-measure on the product of the corresponding σ-algebras if and only if its Fréchet variation is finite. An analogous statement is obtained in a framework of fractional Cartesian products of algebras, and a measurement of p-variation of F-measures, based on Littlewood-type inequalities, is discussed.

Abstract:
It is proved that for any f ∈ Ck(L,ℝ), where k ∈ ℕ and L is a closed linear subspace of a nuclear Frechét space X, the function f can be extended to a function of class Ck-1 defined on the entire space X. It is also proved that for any f ∈ Ck (L, ℝ), where k ∈ℕ∪{∞} and L is a closed linear subspace of a conjugate X of a nuclear Frechét space, the function f can be extended to a function of class Ck defined on the entire space X. In addition, it is proved that under these conditions, the existence of a linear extension operator is equivalent to the complementability of the subspace.

Abstract:
The Cramer–Rao–Frechet inequality is reviewed and extended to track fitting. A diffused opinion attributes to this inequality the limitation of the resolution of the track fits with the number N of observations. It will be shown that this opinion is incorrect, the weighted least squares method is not subjected to that N-limitation and the resolution can be improved beyond those limits. In previous publications, simulations with realistic models and simple Gaussian models produced interesting results: linear growths of the peaks of the distributions of the fitted parameters with the number N of observations, much faster than the N of the standard least-squares. These results could be considered a violation of a well-known 1 / N -rule for the variance of an unbiased estimator, frequently reported as the Cramer–Rao–Frechet bound. To clarify this point beyond any doubt, a direct proof of the consistency of those results with this inequality would be essential. Unfortunately, such proof is lacking. Hence, the Cramer–Rao–Frechet developments are applied to prove the efficiency (optimality) of the simple Gaussian model and the consistency of the linear growth. The inequality remains valid even for irregular models supporting the similar improvement of resolution for the realistic models.
