Abstract:
Abstract The appearance of Hanna Bloch Kohner on a 1953 episode of the series This Is Your Life is among the earliest presentations of a Holocaust survivor's personal history on American television. Analysis of the program explores how television—a collaborative, corporate medium—shapes the telling of an individual's life story, and how the program relates the story of the Holocaust in terms of personal history. The article also examines how the program's producers employed television's distinctive characteristics to enable, limit, or otherwise shape the presentation of the Holocaust, and how the episode indicates that its creators understood its subject as being somehow singular, even as the conceptualization of the Holocaust was emerging, before the term Holocaust entered American public discourse. The article also considers how the program reflects the social and political context of post-World War II America in general and postwar American Jewish life in particular. Finally, the article considers how analysis of this program offers insight into other, later presentations of the Holocaust on American television, especially those dealing with the life story of an individual survivor. Abstract:
Purpose Both television and movie rating systems are used to inform parents, caregivers and prospective viewers about the content which will appear in a program. While rating systems are fallible, they do provide information prior to viewing. Unfortunately, television advertisements are not rated. Can a parent or caregiver feel confident that a child restricted to a particular level of viewing content will avoid being exposed to advertising content which exceeds the program rating? The purpose of this paper is to explore the content of advertisements relative to an established rating system. Design/methodology/approach Advertisements were assigned ratings based on the TV rating criteria. Comparisons between advertisement ratings and program ratings are provided. Additionally, advertisements are examined for unrated mature themes. Findings More than half of the advertisements analyzed across all program ratings were deemed appropriate for all audiences. However, it was discovered that advertisement content exceeded the content rating of the program during which it aired over 20 per cent of the time. Originality/value The findings show that the content of about one in every five television advertisements will have content that exceeds the content rating of the program in which the advertisement appears. This has the potential to undermine parental or caregiver restrictions on a child’s viewing content.

Background: We sought to improve the ability of incarcerated juveniles to critically evaluate media food messages through an educational program that focused on nutrition. Methods: Surveys were administered to two groups of inmates of both sexes (seven to 16 years). The program consisted of forty-one 50 minute sessions (three times per week for 15 weeks) focusing on media and nutrition. Results: None of the participants identified accurate nutrition information before the intervention. After the program, the intervention group (n = 16) identified inconsistencies between nutrition labeling and media messages better than the controls (n = 17). Intervention inmates also expressed a greater interest in learning more about nutrition and had a better understanding of how diet is a factor in health. Conclusions: Health professionals can design health promotion programs that have a positive impact on the inmates’ life while they are in custody, or after their release.

Abstract:
The Mountain State Centers for Independent Living states the Self- image is how one perceives oneself. The existence of Self- image is twisted and devoid of human feelings in Bradbury’s future-narrated Post literature universe. It is several numbers of self-impressions that develop over time that creates positive and concurrently unfavourable impacts. In the realm of psychology, Self-image is a pivotal factor in leading a fortunate life. An individual’s impression of himself forms the collective depiction of his strength and weakness. It is quintessential to talk about and compare the Self-image that Bradbury’s era had lived because self-image comprises not only one’s perception but also the intervention of the culture in which they lived. He lived in a timeline with World wars, Nazi book-burning, Stalin’s Great Purge, Nuclear warfare, and the technological development of radio and television. Bradbury found that these elements be disrupting the Self of an individual. This same connection can also be seen developing in the novel, where the government brainwashes the characters and makes them live a pre-programmed life. The interactions between the individuals are artificial and rare; they do not share any sense of feelings or the need to communicate. This diminishing effect of life is the disintegration of Self-image in the novel.

Abstract:
We reflected on our experience in applying for, operating, and renewing a Research Experience for Undergraduates Site program in computational biology from 2016 to 2021 at a metropolitan public university, funded by the National Science Foundation of the U.S.A. Our mistakes during the application process were avoidable in retrospect. Our Interdisciplinary Computational Biology, iCompBio, REU site was a 10-week summer research program that included R and Python coding bootcamps at the beginning and short workshops on various topics interspersed throughout the program. ICompBio was in-person in 2019 and virtual in 2020 and 2021. ICompBio was fortunate to have a team of faculty mentors that were committed to undergraduate research training and recognized the importance of diversity in computational biology. Many students and faculty mentors turned the challenges in virtual REU programs into learning opportunities and had fulfilling research experiences. ICompBio participants reported learning gains higher than average in a 2020 external evaluation for virtual REU sites, particularly in the aspects of Research Self-Efficacy, Science Identity, and Life Utility. Our lessons and experiences may be helpful to other faculty and researchers that are interested in similar programs at their own institutions.

Abstract:
In giving the home audience an experience that combines both images and sound, surpassing the potential of the traditional mediums of print and radio, the audience rallying around the television increased by the day. Reality shows originated as a result of the introducing new programme models to the television. Attempts were made to portray real life forms of people in a more realistic way through the reality format. A majority of the audience were inclined towards watching reality programmes and the trend was to see the rise of modern social media activism. Thus, the research problem herein was to analyse whether the strategic use of social media, causes reality television programs to become more popular. The purpose of this study was to determine whether the close association of reality television programs with social media directly influenced the increase in popularity of reality television programs due to recent dynamics and trends in the reality program format. The study was conducted by analytically studying books written on reality shows, research-related information that has been published far and utilizing data on the present context. The use of new technology, especially in reality shows, has changed the face of the realist model. Various data showed that different cultural changes were taking place in each of the social systems in an attempt to attract more audiences apart from reality. The study also establishes that reality themes that originated in the United States may have spread to other parts of the world. The data also reflect that many countries are imitating reality shows produced in the United States. With the rise of social media in the modern Internet age, all television channels have used social media to promote their programs. Due to the large number of young individuals watching TV shows on social media, reality shows were also broadcasted live on social media and television stations released episodes considered to have the best reach on social media. Accordingly, this study highlights that there is currently no single existence for reality shows without social media activism.

Abstract:
Cholesterol screening for children is recommended currently only for those with a family history of premature coronary heart disease or hyperlipidemia. The authors report on a pediatric-office-based cholesterol screening program where the predictive values of family history indicators were evaluated along with reported television viewing, physical activity, and dietary habits in 1081 children (aged 2 to 20 years, mean 7.4 ± 3.6 [SD] years). Eight percent of these children had a total cholesterol value of 200 mg/dL or higher; 53% of such children reported watching 2 or more hours of television daily compared with 34% of children with lower cholesterol levels. Multivariate analyses revealed that excessive television viewing was the strongest predictor for a child to have a cholesterol value of 200 mg/dL or higher, with relative risks of 2.2 for 2 to 4 hours of television viewing per day (P < .01) and 4.8 for children watching more than 4 hours/day, when compared to those watching less than 2 hours/day (P < .01). In contrast, a positive family history of a high cholesterol level was only modestly associated with an increased probability of having a high cholesterol level (relative risk 1.6, P < .05), and a history of premature myocardial infarction in a parent or grandparent was not associated with a child's cholesterol level. Excessive television viewing was found to be associated with certain dietary and physical activity habits and may prove to be a useful, global marker for several life-style factors predisposing children to hypercholesterolemia.

Abstract:
Plenty of evidence has recently shown that various inflammatory activities at the local tissue, organ, or even the whole body (systemic) level are strongly linked to many life-threatening chronic diseases, most notably various cancers. However, only very limited information is available for making good use of our supporting immune-modulatory therapeutics for the treatment of cancers. This may result from a lack of studies on specific remedies for efficacious control or modulatory suppression of inflammation-related cancerous diseases. Our group and laboratories were fortunate to have initiated and consistently pursued an integrated team-work program project, aimed at investigating selected medicinal herbs and the derived, purified phytochemical compounds. We focused on the study of key and specific immune-signaling mechanisms at the cellular and molecular levels. We were fortunate to obtain a series of fruitful research results. We believe that our key findings reported herein may be helpful for proposing future thematic and integrated research projects that aim to develop future phytochemical drugs against cancers. The mechanisms of the cellular and molecular systems involved in inflammation are becoming increasingly recognized as keystones for the development of future therapeutic approaches for many chronic and cancerous diseases. Recently, the immune checkpoint inhibitors such as antibodies against PD-1 and/or PD-L1 have been shown to be too expensive for general clinical use, and their effects far from optimal, often showing little or no effect or only short-term efficacy. These results point to the need for developing future immune-regulatory or modulatory therapeutics.

Abstract:
The dynamics of the television industry require each TV station to display the best programming to bind its loyal viewers. TVRI as public television continues to strive to tie the loyalty of viewers by presenting the best programs. However, efforts to present the best programs on TVRI caused some problems later in life. This study aims to analyze TVRI audience satisfaction based on tvri viewers' direct assessment, by measuring satisfaction levels, analyzing factors that affect satisfaction, and analyzing tvri audience performance levels and interests. The indicators used to measure satisfaction in this study are program, motivation fulfillment, broadcasting quality, and program packaging. The results showed that respondents were satisfied with TVRI's performance with a satisfaction rate of 88.82%. Factors that significantly affect satisfaction are motivational fulfillment and program packaging. Meanwhile, although the program is a product sold by TV stations, in this study the program had no effect on viewer satisfaction. The main focus that must be improved by TVRI is the packaging of the program, which is the form of studio set display, supporting properties, and presenters. TVRI must also adapt to the needs of the audience in packaging the show, namely with the latest look, fresh and innovative creative ideas to provide a new experience for the audience, not only the broadcast of nostalgic programs that are repackaged, in order to achieve the target audience segment. Keywords: Factors, TVRI, Viewer Satisfaction.

Abstract:
In highly developed countries, more and more people use culinary services. Cooking at home, for the family, is giving way to culinary services. Consumers either order food home or use the offers of restaurants and bars. Consumers’ choice of culinary form may be influenced by cooking television programs. Many TV stations broadcast cooking programs. This study examined the impact of television culinary programs on consumer behavior in the restaurant services market. The article examines the interplay of emotional responses, personality traits, and culinary preferences to understand how TV cooking programs influence dining decisions. The study was conducted using the CAWI method, which involved 742 respondents. The study, conducted between May 2021 and April 2022, was addressed to people who visited restaurants presented in the Polish culinary TV show titled “Kitchen Revolutions”. The study revealed that almost 3/4 of the respondents chose restaurants based on the program’s recommendations. Although there was a strong emotional connection with this program—nearly half of the respondents expressed delight in the taste of snacks and main courses—this did not always translate into an increased frequency of eating meals away from home. Only every third respondent said that the program influenced their gastronomic behavior. The research hypotheses examined the extent to which culinary TV shows influence the frequency of visits to restaurants, the perceived quality of life, and the influence on consumers with specific personality traits. The results partially supported the hypothesis that cooking programs on television encourage people to eat out more often, but the perceived impact on quality of life and on some personality traits was less clear. The article contributes to the understanding of consumer behavior in the food service market by highlighting the complex dynamics of emotional reactions, personality traits, and the impact of culinary television programs. The findings have practical implications for the restaurant industry, suggesting a focus on emotional impact, food quality and presentation, and targeting marketing strategies towards consumers who are open to new experiences and ready to experiment.

Abstract:
The application of artificial intelligence technology in the film and television field has profoundly changed the content and production methods of television programs and promoted the development and production of a new generation of artificial intelligence television. The popularization of artificial intelligence technology is conducive to improving the quality of television program content, innovating content categories, reducing television program production cost, and improving production efficiency. Due to the popularization and the use of virtual reality (VR) technology in scientific research and social life, the application of VR technology has been studied from the perspective of film and television animation (FTA) teaching, hoping to promote the development of FTA education. First, the existing dynamic environment modeling technology, real-time three-dimensional (3D) graphic generation technology, stereoscopic display, and sensor technology and other VR technologies are combined to carry out teaching design. In view of the current situation of the teaching process of FTA major, the research on these four aspects has been carried out. VR technology is used as an auxiliary teaching tool to complete the basic course teaching of FTA; the 3D animation course and VR technology are combined to improve the teaching effect of professional skill courses. Then, in the application effect, classroom satisfaction, comprehensive quality evaluation, and professional core curriculum effect are compared and analyzed. The results show that the students’ comprehensive quality evaluation in VR technology group is significantly improved, and the satisfaction of classroom atmosphere, teaching mode, and teaching facilities are 75%, 61%, and 81%, respectively. The students in this group can better integrate the new design method into the animation modeling and complete the course design task with high quality. Compared with the traditional teaching mode, the students’ satisfaction is higher and the harvest is greater. Therefore, the use of VR technology in FTA teaching can stimulate students’ interest in learning, improve learning efficiency, and promote the mastery of professional knowledge and skills. The application mode and effect analysis of the proposed VR technology provide a reference for the application of VR technology in FTA teaching.

Abstract:
The high popularity of police investigation reality programs in content broadcast on television and online media (YouTube) increases the possibility of doxing. Several laws, especially Law no. 19 of 2016, have provisions regarding the protection of personal life. However, until now, there has been no regulation that clearly regulates the authority for the participation of television stations in the process of finding investigative facts. This paper aims to find a legal basis for privacy violations against police investigation reality program coverage and to formulate a more comprehensive privacy protection instrument. This research is a normative research with a statutory approach. The research shows that there is a debate between public interest and privacy protection in the coverage of police investigative reality programs, as well as violations of laws and ethical codes committed by the Republic of Indonesia police and private television stations. The presence of the concept of protecting privacy for the public, especially suspects, is expected to be the main value base considered in every coverage of the police investigative reality program. Abstract:
The presence of PT. Eternal Light Television (TATV) as local television in Surakarta and surrounding there initially, viewed pessimistically by the surrounding community. This is very reasonable considering that no television has been established in Surakarta. On April 29, 2004, TATV began broadcasting on air, and was called "Jelang Tayang Perdana". At the start of launching on air or the trial broadcast by TATV it still seemed to be less professional. There are no programs that can be presented such as national television, only limited to advertisements in the form of slides. The screenings are still very simple and not very interesting. In addition to image quality, it may be due to the lack of human resource management. At first, TATV only broadcast for 3 hours and the ShowTime is still limited to daylight hours. After conducting a grand launch on September 1, 2004, TATV began broadcasting for 8 hours per day. After surviving several months with broadcasts for 8 hours per day in subsequent developments, TATV then began pursuing the target to be 14 hours per day. And the current situation of TATV has had broadcast hours of 18 hours per day which continue to the present day. TATV has a strong commitment to fight for the creation of an advanced Indonesian society in all aspects of life, based on positive life values. This commitment is communicated by TATV management, to viewers via TV PROMO, Content (Program on air), or through continuous (intense) event affair. The aim is to create a single perception that is strong in the minds of viewers.

Abstract:
This study aims to analyze the interpretation of Indonesian people in Sebatik Island towards Malaysian television programs. The Sebatik community is a marginalized community who does not have access to Indonesian television broadcasts. To get Indonesian television broadcasts, they have to buy satellite dishes which the majority of the people of Sebatik Island cannot afford. But on the other hand there is a leak of Malaysian television broadcasts in the Sebatik Island area. In this case, they rely on Malaysian television broadcasts which are very accessible at all times. This situation continued for many years and Malaysian television broadcasts became the main source of communication media. This study uses the theory of Interpretive Communities, Stanley Fish. The methodology used in this study is reception analysis through focus group discussions, and observation as a data collection technique. Abstract:
This study aimed to determine the development of Untirta TV in 2008-2013. This research method is historical, includes heuristics (data collection), source criticism, interpretation, and historiography. Data collection techniques with interviews, observations, and documentation were carried out at Untirta TV. The results of this study indicate that the forerunner to the birth of Untirta TV campus community television in 2008 was community television as a laboratory facility for television broadcast production courses. Untirta TV aims to prepare human resources who excel in communication science and have academic insight to compete in the practical world in real life in society. In its development in 2009-2013, it went through a long process to obtain a broadcasting operation permit (IPP). In 2009 Untirta TV was inaugurated as a community television and was the first broadcast on electronic mass media screens, namely analog-based conventional television using Ultra High-Frequency transmitters. Furthermore, in 2010-2012 Untirta TV struggled to get a Broadcasting Operation Permit (IPP). In 2012 Untirta TV succeeded in obtaining the first stage of the Broadcasting Operation Permit (IPP) from the Ministry of Communication and Information, namely conducting a trial. one year for television broadcasts. Furthermore, in 2013, the trial period for the broadcasting license has ended. It can be extended once until a permanent broadcasting operation license (IPP) is obtained. In 2013, along with increasingly rapid technological developments, Untirta TV finally switched to using a new mass media, namely the online media YouTube. Abstract:
The African American actor, writer, and director Spencer Williams, Jr. (1895–1969) has been the subject of a range of academic studies in recent years. Scholars have explored his pioneering work in early black film and his problematic role as “Andy Hogg Brown” in the television version of the Amos 'n' Andy radio program as a means of interpreting representations of black life within the confines of the Hollywood culture industry. This new scholarship, however, has reflected a limited and often inaccurate understanding of Williams' remarkable career. As will be discussed in this article, major events in Williams' life that have been unknown until now strongly influenced his filmmaking and his strategies to make the movie and television industries more racially inclusive. Most significantly, Williams was at different times a soldier in a segregated army unit, a convicted felon, and a committed artist and activist in Hollywood. These experiences helped to shape the themes and subject matter of his films, which ranged from religious dramas and singing cowboy westerns to backstage musicals and the first African American horror movie ever made.

Abstract:
Television is one of the modern mass media that has the potential to convey information to the public and can also shape and build a person's character and behavior. Not only national media, but local media also play an important role in health education activities. In commemoration of World Hearing Day, Unram Hospital cooperates with local station TVRI NTB to hold a health program through the “Sehat Bugar” program providing education about ear and hearing health as a promotive and preventive effort. The purpose of holding this activity is to raise high awareness among individuals, especially the young millennial generation, regarding their daily attitudes in order to maintain healthy ears and hearing. The activities of the millennial generation who like to listen to music with earphones at a loud volume and for a long period of time can be at risk of hearing loss. The presence of hearing loss is often not realized because they are used to ignoring ear health. Hearing loss can cause barriers to communication and have an impact on a person's quality of life. Therefore, cleanliness and ear health are important things that must always be considered and maintained. As an evaluation, this health education activity can be accepted by the community. In practice, the live streaming of this television program has been watched 624 times. In addition, this can also be used as an evaluation to carry out health education activities better in the future.

Abstract:
People have been fascinated by detective novels and complicated investigations since the advent of the detective novel as a literary form in the mid-19th century. The progenitors and early popularizers of this genre, such as Edgar Allan Poe and Arthur Conan Doyle, prepared the ground for later authors of this popular genre. In the meantime, from the beginning to the present day, the techniques and methods of criminal investigations have been immeasurably improved. Criminal and detective fiction has followed innovations, so it has always remained relevant and representative in relation to real-life investigative techniques and methods. Significant development of the TV series as a medium and a massive increase in the quality of the recorded program through a significantly more serious approach and involvement of professionals from the film industry, somewhere since the beginning of the XXI century, has led to a change in approach to procedural and criminal TV series. Instead of the previously trendy but unrealistic and pseudo-scientific procedural programs and detectives whose characterization did not correspond to reality, a new wave of crime series has emerged that is significantly more grounded in reality and faithfully shows the methods and modalities of investigative actions and personalities of criminal investigators. We aim to identify common professional and psychological characteristics of subject investigators using media content analysis, narrative analysis, characterization analysis, and other appropriate analytical methods, and to propose a profile of a modern criminal investigator who, very importantly, corresponds with investigators in real life.

Abstract:
Mass media is one of the important things in human life to get information and entertainment. Mass media, one of which is television, has been around for a long time and has used women as an attraction. Women are used for their bodies and sensuality in television programs to make them more attractive and serve as entertainment content. This study aims to determine the semiotic analysis of the exploitation of women's sensuality and to find out the semiotic representation of the exploitation of women's sensuality in the Tonight Show NET.TV program, especially the episode on February 21, 2020. The method used is Roland Barthes' Semiotics and the theory of Gender, Expression, and Feminism as theory supporting this research. In general, the results of the analysis of this study found that the denotative, connotative, and mythical meanings contained in the NET.TV Tonight Show Program were seen from several signs such as the appearance of female guest stars, facial expressions, and dialogue between the host and guest stars that showed sexual context so that the show is entertaining and funny. This ultimately represents the exploitation or use of women's sensuality even in the form of jokes or chatter. For that, a great awareness is needed not to use women in the mass media industry, as well as educating the public about gender equality.
