Abstract:
The monograph is devoted to the methodology of material and technical support of railway transport. According to the types of activities, the nature of the material and technical resources used, technologies, means and management systems, Russian railways belong to the category of high-tech industries that must have high quality and technical level, reliability and technological efficiency in operation. For this reason, the logistics system itself, both in structure and in the algorithm of the functions performed as a whole, needs a serious improvement in the quality of its work. The economic situation in Russia requires a revision of the principles and mechanisms of management based on the corporate model of supply chain management, focused on logistics knowledge. In the difficult economic conditions of the current decade, it is necessary to improve the quality of the supply organization of enterprises and structural divisions of railway transport, directly related to the implementation of the process approach, the advantage of which is a more detailed regulation of management actions and their mutual coordination. In order to increase the efficiency of its activities and develop the management system, Russian Railways is developing a lean production system aimed at further expanding the implementation of the principles of customer orientation, ideology and corporate culture. At the present time, the solution of many issues is impossible without a cybernetic approach to the formulation of problems of material and technical support and logistics analysis of information technologies, to the implementation of the developed algorithms and models of development strategies and concepts for improving the business processes of the production system. The management strategy, or the general plan for the implementation of activities for the management of material resources, is based on a fundamental assessment of the alignment and correlation of forces and factors operating in the economic and political field, taking into account the impact on the specific form of the management strategy. The materials will be useful to the heads and specialists of the directorates of the MTO, CDZs and can be used in the scientific research of bachelors, masters and postgraduates interested in the economics of railway transport and supply logistics.

Abstract:
Most of the research and writing in strategic management focuses on the formulation of the most appropriate strategies. Selecting the best strategy for firms to follow is very important to achieve and maintain a competitive advantage. However, many strategies fail not because they are improperly formulated, but because they are poorly implemented. Despite the importance of effectively implementing strategies, there is little research strategy implementation. Outside of the implementation of specific strategy types, such as mergers and acquisitions, perhaps the most prominent focus of strategy implementation research has been on matching the organizational structure to the strategy chosen. This handbook contributes to our understanding of strategy implementation and identifies considerable opportunities for future research on this important process, with a focus on resources, governance, human capital, and accounting-based control systems.

Global organizations are able to send messages to their subsidiaries and other operating units all over the world with remarkable speed with the Internet and computers. The formulation of strategies for these global organizations has to account for increases in volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity on an ongoing basis. This chapter discusses the nature of changes that strategic management of global organizations consider as businesses shift from the OCED nations to emergent economies and adoption of market-oriented policies in all of the major trading nations in the WTO. The development of strategy in the era of globalization is guided by economic, political, cultural, and institutional forces that are vastly different from those that existed after World War II. Implementation of strategy is also considerably different than it was a few decades ago. This is discussed along with the consideration of ethical issues that are emerging on a worldwide scale.

Selecting the best strategy is important if a firm is to achieve and maintain a competitive advantage, but many strategies fail not because they are improperly formulated but because they are poorly implemented. Strategy implementation is among the most important and most challenging issues with which top executives must deal, and effective implementation can help firms achieve high performance. Therefore, a greater understanding of the critical dimensions of strategy implementation is needed. This handbook is designed to provide a deeper understanding of topics important for the implementation of strategy. There are three major sections of the book: resources and governance, managing human capital, and accounting control systems. Resources must be acquired, developed, and configured to create the capabilities needed for implementing a firm’s strategy. However, because of the dynamic competitive landscapes in which most firms operate, strategies frequently change. Corporate governance not only guides the formulation of appropriate strategies but also ensures that proper implementation actions are taken. Because the most important resource for implementing strategy is human capital, the firm must engage in highly effective human resource management practices that attract, motivate, develop, and retain the highest quality human talent available. As a result, effective workforce management at all levels in the organization is essential to successful strategy implementation. Managing assets and controlling managerial behavior are critical to strategy implementation: assets can be managed and managerial behavior controlled using accounting-based data. The careful design of such systems promotes innovation and creative activity and identifies earnings, thereby promoting positive managerial actions to achieve desired financial outcomes.

This chapter presents an overview of how D&I research can be evaluated from an economic point of view. Dissemination and implementation imposes costs upon knowledge purveyors, provider organizations, public health organizations, and payers (including governments). However, whether these added costs will result in improved service delivery and, perhaps more importantly, client outcomes and improvements in population health remain as open questions. If emerging studies reveal that defined implementation strategies are more cost effective than “usual” implementation, then policymakers and service providers will need to resource these added costs of implementation in order to assure the success and sustainability of high-quality health services over the long term.

Abstract:
The final chapter of the book summarises its main results and conclusions. It formulates two insights. First, prostitution policy is fragile. Legalisation and decriminalisation are easily reversed, and revert back to criminalisation and heavy-handed regulation and control. This is a complex process that, triggered by the ever present sigma on prostitution and a dominant neo-abolitionist discourse, largely occurs at the local level, thereby deviating from, and even undoing, national policymaking. Second, without a detailed exposition and analysis of the design and implementation of prostitution policy at different scales of governance, statements about its nature or outcomes remain necessarily superficial and are at worst misleading. We conclude with the question: What can policy makers do to negotiate the complexity and unpredictability of the prostitution domain? Stimulating variation, facilitating new communication lines and selecting and promoting solutions that work are general strategies for effectively navigating such complexity. This requires the inclusion of stakeholders, particularly of more vulnerable groups such as sex workers, in policy formulation and implementation.

Implementation science can be incorporated within genomics precision medicine research across the cancer care continuum. Cancer is at the forefront of precision medicine. To move the field forward, the use of implementation science frameworks, theories, models, strategies, and outcome measures is essential so that we can consistently explore how precision medicine discoveries are optimally integrated into care delivery systems. Learning health care systems are model systems for adoption, uptake, and sustainability of precision medicine throughout the cancer care continuum, with both systematic processes in place for research to inform practice, and capacity for a multilevel research agenda, including the utilization of implementation strategies across and among multiple levels. This chapter explores precision medicine across the cancer care continuum and describes implementation science challenges and opportunities.

Lynch syndrome (LS) is the most common hereditary colorectal cancer (CRC) syndrome. Diagnosis of LS has important clinical implications for CRC patients and their family members. LS screening in tumor tissue is possible, and screen-positive cases are referred for diagnostic testing. This case study describes how implementation science informed a population-based LS screening program in the Veterans Health Administration (VHA), the largest integrated health care delivery system in the United States. Successful implementation strategies relied on the organizational structures and processes characteristic of integrated health care systems, including data warehousing methods that leverage the electronic health record, case management, and centralized technical assistance. Challenges to sustainability of the population-based program include low prevalence of LS among veterans, limited expertise, organizational changes, and the rapidly evolving field of precision oncology. LS screening is an exemplar case study for implementation science in integrated health care delivery systems.

This book comprehensively covers empirically supported exposure methods (e.g., in vivo exposure, imaginal exposure, and interoceptive exposure) to a broad array of mental health symptoms. This transdiagnostic approach emphasizes the importance of a person-centered application, putting case formulation at the center of intervention planning and implementation. Unlike a rigid manualized method, this book provides clinicians with a framework allowing for a more flexible delivery of exposure therapy. The book begins with an introduction to the aims and guiding principles of person-centered exposure therapy (Chapter s1 and 2), an overview of the general approach (Chapter 3), and an overview of assessment strategies (Chapters 4 and 9). Next, the authors discuss specific modifications for treating fears of (a) emotions and related physical sensations (Chapter 5), (b) people (Chapter 6), and (c) thoughts, images, and trauma memories (Chapter 7). This book also discusses combined medication and exposure therapy and ways to effectively manage common pitfalls (Chapter 8). Chapter 10 includes an exposure psychoeducation handout for clinicians to read and give to patients during early sessions. Abstract:
The paper evaluates strategies for developing successful special economic zones and transnational zones for Southern African countries to spur growth and employment. Most special economic zones implemented in Southern Africa have largely failed to bring adequate growth and employment due to numerous constraints. Globally, selected countries have successfully implemented export-oriented industries through such spatial industrial policy. We review case studies across the world by comparing different regions on selected indicators related to the best-practice framework developed through this study. The framework represents the five key components of successful special enterprise zones, namely: institutional arrangements; running (operational) framework; expansion framework; attaining/achieving framework; and reflection/review mechanisms. We identify best practice and review the implications for implementation and sustainability strategy in Southern Africa. The main findings point to unique lessons from international best practice on the establishment and operational strategy for zones and opportunities for transnational zones.

The Oxford Handbook of Music and Advertising assembles an array of forty-two pathbreaking chapters on the production, texts, and reception of advertising through music. Uniquely interdisciplinary, the collection’s tripartite structure leads the reader through these stages in the communication of the advertising message as presented by Chris Wharton (2015). The chapters on production study the factors, activities, and people behind the music for the marketing pitch, both past and present. Prominent throughlines in the section include factors influencing the selection of music (and musicians) for advertising, the role of music in corporate branding strategies, the creative forces behind the soundscape of advertising, and industry practices that undergird all aspects of music in commercial contexts. The section on Text focuses on analytic and historical approaches to ads in various media, and includes commentaries on musical genres in ads ranging from Western European art music to American popular genre. Also covered in this section is ad music as used in different ad genres, such as political ads, public service announcements, and television commercials. The analyses used in this section draws from traditional music theory, semiotics, and hermeneutic analysis. Finally, the last section addressing “Reception”—with contributions by researchers in psychology, marketing, and other fields—involves the formulation of models and theories, and implementation of research methods to examine how the presence of music may influence peoples’ attitudes, emotions, thoughts, and behaviors in the context of advertisements and within service environments such as stores, restaurants, and banks. It presents methodologies and tools for adapting the guidelines, as well as general information on the implementation of guidelines to help governmental agencies, stakeholders in the health care system, and civil society use evidence-informed guidelines in decision-making processes at the individual, organizational, and health system level. This document seeks to support the development and implementation of guidelines while providing a general map of the requirements. It also presents the different resources and regional manuals that discussing greater detail the methodological process. In general, this document takes elements of different methods of adaptation as “Adolopment” (Schünemann et al., 2017) and operationalize them to support the adaptation processes of guidelines.
