Abstract:
Objective. To evaluate filamentous fungi with respect to environmental load and potential drug resistance in a tertiary care teaching hospital.Design.Monthly survey in 2 buildings of the hospital during a 12-month period.Setting.Hippokration Hospital in Thessaloniki, Greece.Methods.Air, surface, and tap water sampling was performed in 4 departments with high-risk patients. As sampling sites, the solid-organ transplantation department and the hematology department (in the older building) and the pediatric oncology department and the pediatric intensive care unit (in the newer building) were selected.Results.From January to May of 2000, the fungal load in air (FLA) was low, ranging from 0 to 12 colony-forming units (cfu) per m3 in both buildings. During the summer months, when high temperature and humidity predominate, the FLA increased to 4-56 cfu/m3. The fungi commonly recovered from culture of air specimens wereAspergillus niger(25.9%),Aspergillus flavus(17.7%), andAspergillus fumigatus(12.4%). Non-Aspergillusfilamentous fungi, such asZygomycetesandDematiaceousspecies, were also recovered. The pediatric intensive care unit had the lowest mean FLA (7.7 cfu/m3), compared with the pediatric oncology department (8.7 cfu/m3), the solid-organ transplantation department (16.1 cfu/m3), and the hematology department (22.6 cfu/m3). Environmental surfaces were swabbed, and 62.7% of the swab samples cultured yielded filamentous fungi similar to the fungi recovered from air but with low numbers of colony-forming units. Despite vigorous sampling, culture of tap water yielded no fungi. The increase in FLA observed during the summer coincided with renovation in the building that housed the solid-organ transplantation and hematology departments. All 54Aspergillusair isolates randomly selected exhibited relatively low minimum inhibitory or effective concentrations for amphotericin B, itraconazole, voriconazole, posaconazole, micafungin, and anidulafungin.Conclusion.Air and surface fungal loads may vary in different departments of the same hospital, especially during months when the temperature and humidity are high. EnvironmentalAspergillusisolates are characterized by lack of resistance to clinically important antifungal agents.

Abstract:
This 5-year review of deliberate self-poisoning cases seen in an accident and emergency department revealed that about 700 patients were seen per year. Three-quarters of these needed admission (forming some 15% of all hospital admissions). Of these 65% were referred to the psychiatrist. The remaining quarter were dealt with in the accident and emergency department. Analysis of the data identifies problems where further research is needed. In particular the question is raised as to whether these patients would not be better dealt with in an acute medical unit now that accident departments are turning their attention increasingly to the management of trauma.

Abstract:
This paper discusses the comprehensiveness of religious policy content, the feasibility of implementation, and factors that affect the impact of policy implementation. Since the reform and opening up in 1978, China’s religious charities have been in a period of organizational reconstruction, and the government exercises legal administration over religious affairs, forming a dual administrative management model: the central and local government and the civil affairs department and religious department, forming the preliminary implementation framework of religious policy. Currently, government policy implementation regarding religious charity activities adopts a "policy-centered, top-down" approach in an attempt to create a clear path toward policy implementation. Using the Smith policy implementation process model, combined with field research in three cities in the Shandong province, this study finds multiple limitations deterring religious charity policy execution, including: (a) government policy texts that are not comprehensive; (b) unclear responsibilities of government departments; and (c) sensitive political and social environments. There is still a long way to ensure the smooth implementation of religious charity policies.

Abstract:
The Department of Latin American Art at the Phoenix Art Museum was established on 1st January 1992, and the Librarian of the Museum accepted the additional role of Curator of the Department. Although the Museum has always collected Mexican art, the new Department is concerned with all of Latin America and especially with the 20th century. Similarly, the Library, which has long-established interests in Mexican art, is now expanding its coverage to reflect the scope of the new Department. Grant support has been forthcoming, and Library purchasing has been enhanced by the generosity of a private donor and by a strategy of using a proportion of each exhibition budget for Library acquisitions. Specialist suppliers have been identified, but it has also been necessary to travel. Better networking is needed between professionals in Latin America and the USA; exchange programs have the potential to be mutually beneficial. Abstract:
AbstractThe aim of the study was to evaluate the pattern of utilization of systemic drugs used in the management of adverse drug reactions (ADRs) leading to hospitalization. A prospective pharmacovigilance study was carried out among patients admitted to the Clinic of Dermatology and Venereology in Stara Zagora (July 1999–June 2009). ADRs were classified by type, severity and causality. Casecausality was scored according to Naranjo et al. (1981). Drug utilization was measured in defined daily doses (DDDs) per 100 hospital bed days. A total of 144 cutaneous ADRs, predominantly “type B” were the reason for hospitalization. Highest utilization for the management of ADRs was found for the drug groups “Blood and blood forming organs” (406.08 DDDs/100 bed days) and “Respiratory system” (111.15 DDDs/100 bed days). The use of DDD for measuring drug utilization reveals the importance of drug-induced exacerbations of chronic skin diseases like psoriasis which were associated with significant utilization of drugs belonging to the group “Blood and blood forming organs”. Considering the low preventability of “type B” ADRs, our findings suggest that potential reduction of drug-related hospitalizations may be achieved through the rational use of drugs in patients with comorbidities.

Abstract The Department of Marine Materials Engineering, Maritime University of Szczecin, has conducted research on the technology of metallic composites, focusing on composite aluminium foams stabilized with ceramic particles. One technology which enables efficient, inexpensive and diversified - in terms of foam structure - control of foam properties is the foundry technology consisting in gas injection into liquid metal. This method requires precise control of the process parameters, especially regarding temperature stabilization, as well as precise injection of the gas into the metal. The process of foaming of liquid aluminium or its silicon alloys can also be conducted using ceramic particles. This is a metallic-ceramic composite foaming process (patent PL 211439 B1). The paper presents the process of structure forming of metallic-ceramic foams.

Abstract:
The English departments in colleges and universities are the training center of professional English talents. Their teaching quality bears on the international exchanges and economic development. Through questionnaire survey, interview, and literature review, this paper designed an evaluation index system (EIS) for teaching quality assessment of English departments in colleges and universities, which consists of 19 indexes. Specifically, the collected data was computed and sorted out through factor analysis, and the common factors were extracted, forming an EIS containing 19 secondary indices and 5 primary indices. Next, a weight was assigned to each index in the EIS. Taking the English departments of 3 higher educational schools in a province for example, an empirical analysis was carried out to verify the application effect of our EIS on the teaching quality of college English education. The results demonstrated the scientific nature, reasonability, and feasibility of the proposed EIS. The research enriched the theoretical and practical evidences for the teaching quality assessment of college English education, and promotes the teaching quality assessment of college English department.

Abstract:
Forming limit curves are very important for the prediction of failure during sheet metal forming both in practical forming operations and particularly in numerical simulations. The reliability of numerical simulations in sheet metal forming processes is strongly influenced by the reliability of forming limit curves. Therefore, both the theoretical aspects and the experimental determination of the forming limit curves are challenging problems for scientific researchers and industrial practitioners as well. There are various experimental techniques and mathematical models used to determine the forming limit curves. In spite of the standardization efforts made recently by several institutions world wide, there are still significant differences in determining the forming limit curves. Recently, a new, complex measuring system capable for the automatic determination of FLCs was installed at the Department of Manufacturing Engineering. In this paper, first a short overview will be given on the theoretical background of FLCs, then the application of the complex measuring system will be shown.

Abstract:
Background: Drug-drug interactions are a major cause and a source of iatrogenic events. It has been estimated that 42% of adverse drug reactions are preventable and occur mainly at the stage of prescription (49%) of which 17% are caused by drug-drug interactions. Aim: To estimate the prevalence of drug-drug interactions in the cardiology department, describe and analyze them according to associated factors. Method: A prospective observational study during 5 months from February to June 2013, at the medical cardiology department of Batna, was conducted on patients aged over 16 years who were admitted at least during 24 hours and received at least two drugs. Demographic and pharmacological data were collected using a validated and tested questionnaire. The prescriptions were analyzed searching for possible drug-drug interactions, using an automatized system of detection (THERIAQUE®). Descriptive statistics are generated and a univariate study is used to determine the associated factors. Results and Discussion: A total of 313 patients were included in the study, with a predominance of ischemic cardiopathy (43.8%, n: 137). 1115 interactions were identified in 285 patients. The prevalence of drug-drug interactions was estimated at 90.7% where drug classes most commonly involved belong to the cardiovascular system (63%) and the blood and blood-forming organs (32.4%). The most commonly concerned drugs were nitrates/inhibitors of angiotensin-converting enzyme- angiotensin II receptor antagonist (14.0%) and heparin/inhibitors of angiotensin-converting enzyme- angiotensin II receptor antagonists (12.1%). Drug classes most commonly involved belong to the cardiovascular system (63%) and that of the blood and blood-forming organs (32.4%). 50.2% of patients expressed adverse drug reactions whose most observed were: hypotension (36.3%) and bleeding (17.2%). Age, number of comorbidities, number of medications are factors for drug-drug interactions. Obtained prevalence is significantly high relative to that reported by literature (14-58 %). This difference is due to the fact that some studies were conducted in a single department while others in all departments of the hospital which may have high-level recruitment at low risk and therefore lower prevalence than those emerged in one department.

Abstract:
For a number of objective reasons, students of the part-time department often do not achieve the level of language proficiency that they could achieve by studying under one of the full department programs. When learning a foreign language, the literary text provide the richest opportunities for independent work. The article considers the issue of developing a strategy for independent work with a foreign-language literary text, which, being an inherently complex integrative activity, can make the process of forming a variety of educational skills among students of the part-time department much more effective, as well as make a significant contribution to the process of forming their communicative competence. Work with a foreign-language literary text inevitably requires the use of skills developed in other disciplines taught at the Faculty of Foreign Languages. It is impossible to work on a work of art without paying much attention to the lexical and grammatical aspects of the text, without appealing all types of speech activities not dealing with the complex activities of translation. The training skills are improved by performing exercises during and after reading the text.

Abstract:
Under the holy mask of civilizing the world, colonizers have done the unholy task of forming and deforming societies to serve their vested interests. Over centuries, they have skillfully dominated colonized societies through illusion, deception and dehumanization. In the face of national liberation movements, they had to retreat physically, but the inhuman legacy they left behind continues to benefit them in the absence of strong resistive decolonizing discourses. Predatory globalization, through destructive development culture is now the prevailing mode of recolonization which is turning our dreams for a just global society into an ever illusive one. In this context, echoing the views expressed in “On the Abolition of the English Department” (Ngugi: 1968), this paper argues that English Language and Literature departments have been largely responsible for not forming a strong decolonizing culture and discourse. Also, this paper arrives at an understanding that like Caliban in Shakespeare, English Language now, with growing awareness across the globe, could be used to expose, curse and resist deceptions of the recolonizing forces. Abstract:
Large-scale curved structures such as wind turbine wings usually require a special and cost intensive transport to the installation destination. These transport and installation costs can be reduced by a flat transport condition and the possibility of layering several structural components. For this reason, the focus at the Department of Lightweight Structures and Polymer Technology at TU Chemnitz was on a novel active material composite, which enables resource-efficient mass production and has a new component architecture. The large-volume multidimensional curvature of the active structure could be achieved by using a shape memory polymer (SMP). The associated reduction of the specific investment costs, the use of materials and the possibility of an integrative design, can contribute to the fact that, for example, the small wind turbines will become an economically viable investment in the future. The active structure influencing was represented by means of a finite element simulation (FEM) for different material composites and could be verified by generic demonstrators regarding its validity.

Abstract:
A precise production of sheet metal parts has always been a main goal in press shops. Highest quality demands are required especially in automotive production. Unfortunately, even today, the production is not optimal due to an ineffective approach to the springback compensation. Springback results in geometrical shape inaccuracies of the obtained product. Based on the current approach, excessive time and financial costs emerge due to corrections on the press tools. However, these corrections do not always lead to a better accuracy of the stampings. The main objective of the research is to design a modified solution of the current approach. The modified solution is designed as a methodology with a focus on the analysis and compensation of the springback with a help of a numerical simulation. To achieve the main goal, smaller sub-goals are employed. These sub-goals, or rather experiments, mainly focus on parameters, which, more or less, influence the springback phenomenon. The designed methodology is verified with real car body parts and is carried out with a help of the department of the press tools design in ŠKODA AUTO, a.s. There, the methodology is used for improving the accuracy of the stamping process of the car body parts and for improving the quality of the final product.

Abstract:
This paper will focus on the development of the Inter-Agency Material Production Committee, its objectives, terms of reference and their evolution. An assessment on whether the Committee has achieved what it initially set out to achieve will be made. The idea of forming the IAMPC was conceived at a conference on Libraries and Literacy held in Kanye in 1985. The actual launching of the Committee was done three years later in 1988. The Committee, a joint venture between the Botswana National Library Service (BNLS) and the Department of Non-Formal Education (DNFE) comprised officers of the two departments and other extension departments and NGOs. 30 institutions were represented initially. The two departments, BNLS and DNFE, were already cooperating in the provision of the Village Reading Rooms Service (VRRs), another joint venture which has been operational since 1986. These are cultural centres set up in primary school classrooms for local rural communities in smaller and remote villages where there are no library facilities.

Abstract:
In the context of reforming higher education, the problem of developing and implementing a new, effective management policy aimed at attracting, retaining and motivating highly qualified scientific and pedagogical personnel is of particular relevance. However, as noted in a number of studies, university teachers find themselves in a difficult situation, which is caused by a decline in public recognition of the profession value, staff shortages, turnover and aging of staff, a crisis of motivationand professional identity in higher education amid significant complications in professional activities. The current stage of higher education development is characterized by large-scale innovation processes, therefore, management of the motivation of teachers of higher education institutions should be considered as the management of motivation in the context of innovation. The basis of this approach is an orientation on creativity and stimulation of personnel’s innovative behavior. It is obvious that the task of effective management of university teachers’ motivation should be solved as soon as possible, without interrupting the professional activities and within the working teams. The article presents the experience of developing and testing a layered model of intra-departmental management of university teachers’ motivation, which is based on the idea of forming a motivated team and creating a corporate culture that will help effectively manage innovative processes at the university.

The article discusses international relations between the Buryat-Mongolian Scientific Committee (Buruckom) and Committee of Sciences of Mongolia (Mongolian Scientific Institute (Monuchcom or Sudar bichgiin khyreelen). They were the first research institutions in Mongolia and Buryatia and formed the bases of the modern Academy of Sciences of Mongolia, and the Institute for Mongolian, Buddhist and Tibetan Studies of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (IMBTS SB RAS). It is actual and quite important to study the formation history of these research institutions in general, and research departments, in particular, libraries playing a great role in the history of modern science development, in relation to their upcoming 100th anniversaries. Such researches fill in the gaps in the countries’ historical past, draw attention to national cultural traditions and are connected with the problems of preserving written historical and cultural monuments. The authors used archival documents kept in the Center of Oriental Manuscripts and Xylographs of IMBTS SB RAS to highlight the history of forming and developing the collections of Buruchkom’s Manuscript Department and Monuchkom’s Research Library. They are the correspondence of the Buryat-Mongolian Scientific Committee leaders with Monuchcom scholars, datsan councils, khoshun executive committees and lamas on the issues of xylographing Buddhist treaties and supplementing library funds stored in the archive of the Center for Oriental manuscripts and xylographies of IMBT SB RAS.

Abstract:
The C8-based aqueous film forming foam (AFFF) was developed by 3M in 1960, initially for military purposes, and was then used in all U.S. Navy vessels until the late 1960s. The U.S. Department of Defense used the AFFF for fuel fire suppression in all military facilities in the 1970s. The AFFF was classified as a special fire extinguishing chemical used for an airplane hangar or an aircraft carrier. Despite its strong fire extinguishing capacity, the AFFF is not commonly used by civilians, mainly due to the cost factor and environmental issues. In particular, the main organic chemical component of the AFFF is resistant to degradation; it tends to persist in the ecological system and in the human body, consequently having grievous effects. The paper describes the causes and measures of the AFFF use regulations by the Stockholm Convention concerning persistent organic chemicals. The manuscript also introduces the C4-based eco-friendly AFFF, a fire extinguishing chemical developed in China, as a part of the measure and addresses the meaning of “C4-Based.” Moreover, the study verifies that the representative regulation targets for perfluorooctane sulfonates (PFOS) and perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) are not detected in the C4-based eco-friendly AFFF fire extinguishing chemical, as revealed by a test on “the method for analyzing PFOS/PFOA” in the chemical product based on the National Standard Test KS M 9722:2017. Accordingly, various fire extinguishers using the C4-based eco-friendly AFFF with strong and extensive fire extinguishing capacity are proposed, and the other use methods.

Abstract:
This study focused on investigating possible associations between exposure to urban air pollution and the number of emergency department (ED) visits for various health outcomes. The outcomes were grouped into four chapters of the International Classification of Diseases Tenth Revision (ICD-10) system (i.e., Chapter II-IV: “Neoplasms”, “Diseases of the blood”, “Endocrine, nutritional and metabolic diseases”, and XVIII: “Symptoms, signs and abnormal clinical and laboratory findings“). The data were collected for the city of Toronto, Canada, (2004–2015, 4292 days). Four gaseous air pollutants (carbon monoxide (CO), nitrogen dioxide (NO2), ground level ozone (O3), and sulfur dioxide (SO2)) and fine particulate matter (PM2.5), and two calculated air quality health indexes (AQHI) based on Toronto were used. The statistical models were constructed by applying the conditional Poisson regression. The exposure was assessed over a maximum of 15 days (time lags 0–14 days). An analysis was performed with the following strata: sex, age, and seasons. Relative risks (RR) and their 95% confidence intervals (95%CI) were estimated for an increase in concentration by a one interquartile range (IQR). For the AQHI (composed of NO2, O3, and PM2.5), IQR = 1, the estimations for lag 1 and all patients, are RR = 1.023 (95%CI: 1.008, 1.038), 1.026 (1.012, 1.040), 1.013 (1.003, 1.024), and 1.007 (1.003, 1.010) for Chapters II–IV and XVIII, respectively. The results show that in the four large, analyzed health groups, the impact of air quality mainly occurs over a short period (from current day to a maximum of 3 days after exposure).

Abstract:
ABSTRACT BACKGROUND: There is a great negative impact of biofilm-mediated infection on patient health which necessitates the use of reliable methods for detecting biofilm producers. AIMS: This study was done to determine biofilm-producing ability and the presence of intercellular adhesion gene A in clinical staphylococcal isolates and to assess the reliability of two phenotypic methods used for biofilm detection. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Fifty staphylococcal strains were isolated from 100 conjunctival swabs from patients attended the Ophthalmology Outpatient Department of the Research Institute of Ophthalmology. Two phenotypic methods were used for detection of biofilm production; qualitative congo red agar (CRA); and quantitative microtiter plate. Polymerase chain reaction was used to determine the presence of icaA gene. RESULTS: In Staph aureus, 60% were positive biofilm forming and 40% were negative biofilm forming by both phenotypic methods. All positive biofilm-forming isolates were positive for icaA gene production. In coagulase negative staph, 50% were positive biofilm forming and 50% were negative biofilm forming by both phenotypic methods. All positive biofilm-forming strains were positive for icaA gene. All negative cases by CRA and microtiter plate methods were negative for icaA gene except two isolates. All staphylococcal isolates were subjected to antibiotic susceptibility test to correlate biofilm formation with multidrug resistance in staph. CONCLUSION: There is high significant correlation between icaA gene presence and biofilm forming ability; however, the biofilm-forming ability of some isolates in the absence of icaA gene highlights the importance of further genetic investigations of ica-independent biofilm formation mechanisms.

Abstract:
Background. Patients can access medical services such as disease diagnosis online, medical treatment guidance, and medication guidance that are provided by doctors from all over the country at home. Due to the complexity of scenarios applying medical services online and the necessity of professionalism of knowledge, the traditional recommendation methods in the medical field are confronting with problems such as low computational efficiency and poor effectiveness. At the same time, patients consulting online come from all sides, and most of them suffer from nonacute or malignant diseases, and hence, there may be offline medical treatment. Therefore, this paper proposes an online prediagnosis doctor recommendation model by integrating ontology characteristics and disease text. Particularly, this recommendation model takes full consideration of geographical location of patients. Objective. The recommendation model takes the real consultation data from online as the research object, fully testifying its effectiveness. Specifically, this model would make recommendation to patients on department and doctors based on patients’ information of symptoms, diagnosis, and geographical location, as well as doctor’s specialty and their department. Methods. Utilizing crawler technique, five hospital departments were selected from the online medical service platform. The names of the departments were in accordance with the standardized department names used in real hospitals (e.g., endocrinology, dermatology, gynemetrics, pediatrics, and neurology). As a result, a dataset consisting of 20000 consultation questions by patients was built. Through the application of Python and MySQL algorithms, replacing semantic dictionary retrieval or word frequency statistics, word vectors were utilized to measure similarity between patients’ prediagnosis and doctors’ specialty, forming a recommendation framework on medical departments or doctors based on the above-obtained sentence similarity measurement and providing recommendation advices on intentional departments and doctors. Results. In the online medical field, compared with the traditional recommendation method, the model proposed in the paper is of higher recommendation accuracy and feasibility in terms of department and doctor recommendation effectiveness. Conclusions. The proposed online prediagnosis doctor recommendation model integrates ontology characteristics and disease text mining. The model gives a relatively more accurate recommendation advice based on ontology characteristics such as patients’ description texts and doctors’ specialties. Furthermore, the model also gives full consideration on patients’ location factors. As a result, the proposed online prediagnosis doctor recommendation model would improve patients’ online consultation experience and offline treatment convenience, enriching the value of online prediagnosis data.

Abstract:
Attracting applicants in modern conditions is quite an important and difficult task for higher education institutions. Non-core graduate departments of the University face the greatest difficulties in this process. The article discusses the main directions of career guidance work of the Department of “Sociology, psychology and social management” of the Moscow Aviation Institute (NationalResearchUniversity) in the course of implementing cooperation agreements with educational institutions inMoscowand theMoscowregion. The authors present an experience of organizing and conducting research circles in sociology and social psychology for students of grades 8-11.The activity of the sociological research circle “First steps in science” was aimed at forming students’ ideas about research, its methods and stages; developing skills of independent work with the received social information; obtaining skills for developing, conducting and presenting research results. The program of the circle “Social psychology” adapted for classes of humanitarian and socioeconomic orientation, included personal growth trainings and career guidance games aimed at developing professional self-determination in career planning.Research circles allowed school students to develop their special skills, arouse interest in sociology and psychology, improve their understanding of the criteria for their own professional choice, as well as form students’ understanding of the Department’s profile.During the implementation of career guidance measures in modern conditions, along with positive results, the authors have identified the factors that hinder the successful interaction of schools and universities such as the lack of involvement in this process of all subjects of the educational space, insufficient attention of the school administration to the social needs of graduating departments. To solve these problems, the authors have developed and proposed a model for organizing research circles based on schools, which can qualitatively improve the social partnership of all interested participants. The basic ideas and theses of the article may be of interest both for teachers of higher educational institutions and for pedagogical staff of secondary schools.
