Abstract:
http://dx.doi.org/10.17014/ijog.vol2no1.20074Three maars are well identifi ed in the Muria Peninsula, i.e. Bambang Maar, Gunungrowo Maar, and Gembong Maar. The maars were formed by monogenetic volcanic eruptions due to the interaction between heat source (magma), groundwater and calcareous basement rocks. This interaction is able to produce very high pressure of gas and steam causing phreatic explosions, followed by phreatomagmatic- or even magmatic explosions and ended by a lava extrusion. Satellite image analyses have recognized twelve circular features, comprising Bambang Maar, Gunungrowo Maar, and Gembaong Maar. Phisiographically, these maars are characterized by circular depressions which are surrounded by hills that are gently sloping down away from the crater or having a radier pattern morphology. Outcrops and drilling core in the circular areas that are considered as volcanic maars are lava fl ows, pyroclastic breccias, lapillistones, and tuffs, located far away from the eruption centres of Muria and Genuk Volcanoes. One of the circular features, i.e. Jepara Circular Feature, is also supported by negative anomaly (<30 mgal) showing a circular pattern. In the future, a maar volcano could possibly erupt depending on the tectonic reactivity in the region.

Abstract:
Let Δ denote the Laplace operator acting on the space L2(Г/H) of automorphic functions with respect to a congruence group Г, square integrable over the fundamental domain F=Г/H. It is known that Δ has a point spectrumwith (Weyl's law)and it has a purely continuous spectrum on [¼,∞) of finite multiplicity equal to the number of inequivalent cusps. The eigenpacket of the continuous spectrum is formed by the Eisenstein series Ea(z, s) on s = ½+it where a ranges over inequivalent cusps. The eigenfunctions ui(z) with positive eigenvalues are Maass cusp forms.

Abstract:
Maar volcanoes are monogenetic landforms whose craters cut below the pre-eruptive surface and are surrounded by a tephra ring. Both the maar crater and the surrounding tephra rim deposits are typically formed due to magma–water explosive interactions. Northern Chile is located in the Central Volcanic Zone of the Andes where, in literature, 14 maars have been recognized as parasite (6) and individual (8) volcanoes. Amongst these individual maars, 3 of them, namely the Tilocálar Sur, Cerro Tujle, and Cerro Overo volcanoes, are not related to calderas and were emplaced <1 Ma ago by magmatic explosive-effusive and phreatomagmatic eruptions. Based on the evolution and control of the volcanic eruptive styles of these three maars, which have been determined in previous research through fieldwork, stratigraphic, morphometric, textural (density and vesicularity), petrographic, and geochemical analyses, a set of key features that favor a prediction of the emplacement location of maar volcanoes in Central Andes, northern Chile are proposed. The set of features that permit and favor the growth mechanisms for maar formations corresponds to (i) a compressive tectonic setting (e.g., ridge structures), (ii) groundwater recharge (e.g., snowmelt and seasonal rainfall), (iii) the lithological setting (e.g., layers of low permeability), (iv) the presence of aquifer and/or endorheic basins (e.g., lakes or salars), and (v) a period of stress relaxation that permits magma ascent to the surface in volcanically active areas. Considering these characteristics, it is possible to identify places where phreatomagmatic eruption can occur. If the magma ascent flux is lower than the groundwater flux, this can lead to a phreatomagmatic eruption because of groundwater coming into contact with the magma. These eruptive features evidence internal—and external—factors that play an essential role in the transition from explosive-effusive magmatic to phreatomagmatic volcanic eruption styles during the same eruptive period that is one of the biggest challenges in volcanic hazard evaluations. Although, in this contribution, a set of features that permit and favor the growth mechanisms for a prediction of the emplacement location of maars in northern Chile is proposed, these considerations could also be applied to identify potential locations in other parts of the world where magma–water interaction eruption could occur. Therefore, this approach could be useful in the prediction of hydromagmatic volcanic eruptions and, thus, in mitigating the impact of volcanic hazard for the inhabitants of the surrounding areas.

Abstract:
The multi-agent systems (MAS) are a part of artificial intelligence (AI), they have emerged today in the development of major e-learning platforms. Their integration has given new impetus to learning environments by the possibility of integrating new parameters (psychological, pedagogical, ergonomic…) favoring a better adaptation to the learner. In addition, the multiagent approach offers the possibility to design flexible solutions based on a set of agents which are in continuous communication to accomplish the tasks entrusted to them. In this paper, we propose a model of pedagogical support based on a coupling of ontology and multi-agent systems for a synergy of their forces and the important contribution they can make to improve the learning-teaching process. Previous work has been the subject of theoretical foundation related to competency evaluation, and development of an ontology and an algorithm for evaluating competency. As a continuity, we present the design of Multiagent Pedagogical Support System (MaPSS) and the different scenarios of its utilization.

Abstract:

Let n > m = 1 be integers such that n + m >= 4 is even. We prove the existence, in the volume aspect, of exceptional Maass forms on compact quotients of the hyperbolic Grassmannian of signature (n,m). The method builds upon the work of Rudnick and Sarnak, extended by Donnelly and then generalized by Brumley and Marshall to higher rank. It combines a counting argument with a period relation, showingthat a certain period distinguishes theta lifts from an auxiliary group. The congruence structure is defined with respect to this period and the auxiliary group is either U(m,m) or Sp_2m(R), making (U(n,m),U(m,m)) or (O(n,m),Sp_2m(R)) a type 1 dual reductive pair. The lower bound is naturally expressed, up to a logarithmic factor, as the ratio of the volumes, with the principal congruence structure on the auxiliary group

Abstract:

In this thesis, we prove various results in the theory of modular forms and harmonic Maass forms, representation theory, elliptic curves and differential geometry. In particular, we give a broad framework of Rogers-Ramanujan identities and algebraic values; we prove that Ramanujan's mock theta functions satisfy his original conjectured definition; and we show that certain harmonic Maass forms which arise naturally from the arithmetic of elliptic curves encode central L-values and L-derivatives involved in the Birch and Swinnerton-Dyer conjecture. We also prove a conjecture of Moore and Witten connecting the regularized u-plane integral on the complex projective plane with Donaldson invariants for the SU(2)-gauge theory. In our final two applications, we turn to moonshine phenomena. Monstrous Moonshine relates the Fourier coefficients of certain modular functions to values of the irreducible characters of the Monster group--the largest of the sporadic simple groups. We give the asymptotic distribution of these character values, answering a question of Witten with applications to mathematical physics. The Umbral Moonshine conjectures relate the the values of irreducible characters of prescribed finite groups with the Fourier coefficients of distinguished mock modular forms. Gannon has proved this for the special case involving the largest sporadic simple Mathieu group. We complete the proof in the remaining cases.

Abstract:
Let ƒ be a Maass cusp form for Γ0(N) with Fourier coefficients λƒ(n) and Laplace eigenvalue ¼+k2. For real α≠0 and β>0 consider the sum: ∑nλƒ(n)e(αnβ)Φ(n/X), where Φ is a smooth function of compact support. We prove bounds on the second spectral moment of this sum, with the eigenvalue tending toward infinity. When the eigenvalue is sufficiently large we obtain an average bound for this sum in terms of X. The method is adopted from proofs of subconvexity bounds for Rankin-Selberg L-functions for GL(2)×GL(2). It contains in particular the Kuznetsov trace formula and an asymptotic expansion of a well-known oscillatory integral with an enlarged range of Kε≤L≤K1-ε. The same bounds can be proved in the same way for holomorphic cusp forms. Furthermore, we prove similar bounds for ∑nλƒf(n)λgƒ(n)e(αnβ)Φ(n/X), where g is a holomorphic cusp form. As a corollary, we obtain a subconvexity bound for the L-function L(s, fƒ ×g). This bound has the significant property of breaking convexity even for the trivial bound toward the Generalized Ramanujan Conjecture.

Abstract:
This research work deals specifically with the aporia of Maussian symbolical anthropology (Marcel Mauss 1872-1950) and more generally with the symbolism of time in Oceanian forms (petroglyphs, decorations, primitive drawings, tattooings, etc. . . ). It is divided into four parts. Expectations and Taboo : The questions asked by Mauss about social expectations have never been satisfactorily answered. A reappraisal of the theoretical ‘block', the dead-end of the psychology of ‘emotions' and the theme of Polynesian taboo is proposed to show how contemporary anthropology has been led astray. Social expectations and taboo are linked to inspire a second reading of The Gift in which both themes of gift and time are aporetically tackled. If giving and expecting are mutually exclusive, what does expecting mean ? Cultural and sociological interpretations fail to grasp social symbolism, are unaware of the symbolic system and pragmatics which Mauss was attempting to found. This first stage stresses the topicality of our work and open the debate. Anthropology and Psychoanalysis : Pseudo-Freudian anthropology claims to be giving birth to a ‘pragmatics' by taking it out of its symbolical realm. It is therefore necessary to historically look back on the relationships that the two sciences have been entertaining. This second stage takes up again the historical and methodological elements. Theophagy and Forms of the ‘Persona' : The ‘consumption' of the present renders possible a founding Oceanian symbolic system. A universal anthropological fantasy condenses all the phases of Polynesian orality. How does The Gift affect our cultural perception of the Polynesians ? By tying up the analysis of the counterinvestments repressing that fantasy to the apparition of formal ‘signifiers' of time in forms and tattoos. Force aimed at the cannibalistic drive, the Oceanian theophagous representation looks like a ‘formal mask'

Qin, Huan. "Averages of fractional exponential sums weighted by Maass forms." Diss., University of Iowa, 2017. https://ir.uiowa.edu/etd/5607.

Full text
Abstract:
The purpose of this study is to investigate the oscillatory behavior of the fractional exponential sum weighted by certain automorphic forms for GL(2) x GL(3) case. Automorphic forms are complex-values functions defined on some topological groups which satisfy a number of applicable properties. One nice property that all automorphic forms admit is the existence of Fourier series expansions, which allows us to study the properties of automorphic forms by investigating their corresponding Fourier coefficients. The Maass forms is one family of the classical automorphic forms, which is the major focus of this study. Let f be a fixed Maass form for SL(3, Z) with Fourier coefficients Af(m, n). Also, let {gj} be an orthonormal basis of the space of the Maass cusp form for SL(2, Z) with corresponding Laplacian eigenvalues 1/4+kj^2, kj>0. For real α be nonzero and β>0, we considered the asymptotics for the sum in the following form Sx(f x gj, α, β) = ∑Af(m, n)λgj(n)e(αn^β)φ(n/X) where φ is a smooth function with compactly support, λgj(n) denotes the nth Fourier coefficient of gj, and X is a real parameter that tends to infinity. Also, e(x) = exp(2πix) throughout this thesis. We proved a bound of the weighted average sum of Sx(f x gj, α, β) over all Laplacian eigenvalues, which is better than the trivial bound obtained by the classical Rankin-Selberg method. In this case, we allowed the form varies so that we can obtain information about their oscillatory behaviors in a different aspect. Similar to the proofs of the subconvexity bounds for Rankin-Selberg L-functions for GL(2) x GL(3) case, the method we used in this study includes several sophisticated techniques such as weighted first and second derivative test, Kuznetsov trace formula, and Voronoi summation formula.

Savala, Paul. "Computing spectral data for Maass cusp forms using resonance." Diss., University of Iowa, 2016. https://ir.uiowa.edu/etd/3182.

Full text
Abstract:
The primary arithmetic information attached to a Maass cusp form is its Laplace eigenvalue. However, in the case of cuspidal Maass forms, the range that these eigenvalues can take is not well-understood. In particular it is unknown if, given a real number r, one can prove that there exists a primitive Maass cusp form with Laplace eigenvalue 1/4 + r2. Conversely, given the Fourier coefficients of a primitive Maass cusp form f on Γ0(D), it is not clear whether or not one can determine its Laplace eigenvalue. In this paper we show that given only a finite number of Fourier coefficients one can first determine the level D, and then compute the Laplace eigenvalue to arbitrarily high precision. The key to our results will be understanding the resonance and rapid decay properties of Maass cusp forms. Let f be a primitive Maass cusp form with Fourier coefficients λf (n). The resonance sum for f is given by SX(f;α;β) = Εn≥1λf(n)‑Φ(n/X) e(αnβ) where φ ∈ Cc∞((1, 2)) is a Schwartz function and α ∈ R and β, X > 0 are real numbers. Sums of this form have been studied for many different classes of functions f, including holomorphic modular forms for SL(2, Z), and Maass cusp forms for SL(n,Z). In this paper we take f to be a primitive Maass cusp form for a congruence subgroup Γ0(D) ⊂ SL(2, Z). Thus our result extends the family of automorphic forms for which their resonance properties are understood. Similar analysis and algorithms can be easily implemented for holomorphic cusp forms for Γ0(D). Our techniques include Voronoi summation, weighted exponential sums, and asymptotics expansions of Bessel functions. We then use these estimates in a new application of resonance sums. In particular we show that given only limited information about a Maass cusp form f (in particular a finite list of high Fourier coefficients), one can determine its level and estimate its spectral parameter, and thus its Laplace eigenvalue. This is done using a large parallel computing cluster running MATLAB and Mathematica

Abstract:
Abstract The estimation of the final vibration amplitude of a turbomachinery bladed disk is of extreme practical importance; it is an essential information for the prediction of the level of high cycle fatigue of the blades, and for the subsequent estimation of its operative life span. The forced response vibration is saturated by the nonlinear damping introduced by the friction forces at the interfaces between blade and disk (and/or at the included dampers). The computation of the final amplitude of the limit cycle oscillation requires to solve a quite complicated nonlinear problem. In the case of a tuned bladed disk, this problem can be reduced to a single sector calculation with phase lag boundary conditions. The solution of this one-sector problem requires to consider many harmonics in order to capture the details of the nonlinear time periodic oscillation that sets in. If the small unavoidable differences among blades (mistuning) are also taken into account, then the situation becomes even more complicated because the solution of the mistuned vibration problem requires to consider not only a single sector but the complete bladed disk. The possibility of applying multiple scales techniques to drastically simplify this problem is explored in this paper. The idea is to exploit the fact that all relevant effects present (forcing, nonlinear friction, and mistuning) are, in most practical situations, small effects that develop in a time scale that is much longer than that associated with the natural elastic vibration frequency of the tuned system. A mass-spring model with microslip nonlinear friction is used to represent the forced bladed disk. The multiple scales method is used to asymptotically derive simplified models for both tuned and mistuned configurations. The results of the asymptotic model are compared with those from the mass-spring system, and used to analyze the particular characteristics of the nonlinear friction effects on the final vibration states.

Abstract:
Abstract This paper presents analytical results of forced transverse vibration of a column with a mass attached at free-end subjected to a tangential follower force and a transverse distributed excitation force, that is a simplified model of some structures in civil and mechanical engineering, e.g., a column of a suspension bridge, a launched rocket in the atmosphere. Because the tangential follower force is nonconservative, it is very difficult to get the analytical solution of the problem by usually-used analysis methods with which the adjoint boundary value problem can not be directly obtained. However, by applying the finite integral transform technique, we directly obtained the adjoint boundary value problem in the analysis process, and successfully obtained the analytical solution of the column’s vibration excited by the transverse distributed force.

Demchenko, Dmytro. DEMASSIFICATION OF SOCIAL PROCESSES IN THE CONTEXT OF DIGITAL COMMUNICATION (TO THE PROBLEM OF THE DICHOTOMY OF “ELITE-MASS” AS A POLITICAL COMMUNICATION PARADOX). Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, March 2024. http://dx.doi.org/10.30970/vjo.2024.54-55.12171.

Abstract:
The article aims to analyze a complicated process of the society’s main components – elite, mass communication, and masses – in their interaction and interdependence from the historical perspective. Due to industrialization and modernization of the life quality, the social life changes radically, and the essence of every component of the society changes as well. The elite loses its dynastic character. The media stop to play the role of a mediator taking on the obligations of a collective agitator and propagandist, and the mass stops to be cloth for wiping shoes. It starts to form a mass audience and, by that, obtains new forms that must be taken into account by social institutions. Together with that the collective views are substituted by the views which are stronger than the ones of a separate individual. One of the main conclusions of the investigation is as follows. The formation of the “consumer society” and the strengthening of the mass communication role resulted in the appearance of “mediocracy” which factually introduced an absolute elite dependence on it and conferred the right of media to set the social agenda. The mass turned out to be a silent majority, a unity of conformity-oriented people. These people become simultaneously a product of mass communication impact because they dictate what one must read, listen to, and watch from the media menu. They force MMC to satisfy their unassuming needs making the content trivial and commodificated. In other words, the mutual process of the interaction of the media, “impossible independence” and the conscious “communicative consensus” of individuals who are willingly united with the mass audience takes place. The creation of the internet due to “digital anonymity” and the autonomy of the consumer formed the conditions for the self-determined citizens and gave the elite a modest place in the “cyber democracy”. However, the increase in individual self-isolation leads to his gradual loss of “social capital,” and that threatens to replace the direct experience with a virtual environment that will make it very difficult to differentiate reality from fiction. Butyrina, Maria, and Valentina Ryvlina. MEDIATIZATION OF ART: VIRTUAL MUSEUM AS MASS MEDIA. Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, February 2021. http://dx.doi.org/10.30970/vjo.2021.49.11075.

Full text
Abstract:
The research is devoted to the study of the phenomenon of mediatization of art on the example of virtual museums. Main objective of the study is to give communication characteristics of the mediatized socio-cultural institutions. The subject of the research is forms, directions and communication features of virtual museums. Methodology. In the process of study, the method of communication analysis, which allowed to identify and characterize the main factors of the museum’s functioning as a communication system, was used. Among them, special emphasis is put on receptive and metalinguistic functions. Results / findings and conclusions. The need to be competitive in the information space determines the gradual transformation of socio-cultural institutions into mass media, which is reflected in the content and forms of dialogue with recipients. When cultural institutions begin to function as media, they take on the features of media structures that create a communication environment localized by the functions of communicators and audience expectations. Museums function in such a way that along with the real art space they form a virtual space, which puts the recipients into the reality of the exhibitions based on the principle of immersion. Mediaization of art on the example of virtual museum institutions allows us to talk about: expanding of the perceptual capabilities of the audience; improvement of the exposition function of mediatized museums with the help of Internet technologies; interactivity of museum expositions; providing broad contextual background knowledge necessary for a deep understanding of the content of works of art; the possibility to have a delayed viewing of works of art; absence of thematic, time and space restrictions; possibility of communication between visitors; a huge target audience. Significance. The study of the mediatized forms of communication between museums and visitors as well as the directions of their transformation into media are certainly of interest to the scientific field of “Social Communications”.

Abstract:
The article examines the current state of journalism education. The creative training of editorial teams is an essential asset of the university format. It is underlined that the country’s leading universities with highly intellectual professorial and teaching personnel potential and a modern laboratory base prepare journalist personnel. It was indicated that the transformation of modern journalism education lost dynamism due to outline reasons. It is only partially designed for the growing needs of editorial teams, and there is an urgent need for systemic reform of the entire higher education and journalism higher education as a separate segment. It has been proven that the Ukrainian information business in printed, broadcast and network formats is not a type of classical type of business, as it does not develop according to market, competitive principles that provide for profitability and economic independence, but is actually unprofitable, low-profit and subsidized. Abstract:
This paper describes experiences of international insertion of Argentine producers of manufactured goods not oriented to the mass market. Based on these experiences, we develop a typology of potential alternatives of international insertion for this type of goods centered on the role of local agentsin design activities. Our analysis follows the global value chain (GVC) approach and emphasizes the links between local producers and buyers in developed countries. First, we analyze experiences of international insertion of producers and marketers of high end footwear. These cases involve high quality products that are intensive in original design. Second, we analyze various forms of international insertion of a single producer of valves for combustion engines, which primarily involve customized products. Despite the differences between these two industries, we find notable similarities in the forms of insertion they both present and in the knowledge requirements they impose on local producers.

Loso, Michael, and Michael Loso. Glacier monitoring in the Central Alaska Network: Protocol narrative, version 1.0. National Park Service, 2025. https://doi.org/10.36967/2308209.

Full text
Abstract:
Two of the three national parks that comprise the National Park Service Inventory & Monitoring Program?s Central Alaska Network (CAKN) are covered by large quantities of glacier ice. Wrangell-St. Elias National Park and Preserve has 3,121 glaciers and Denali National Park and Preserve has 881. These glaciers cover significant portions of the parks and exert substantial influence over the surrounding landscapes with impacts on weather, vegetation, animal migration, river flow, aquatic life, and even downstream marine ecosystems. They also provide a significant attraction?and hazard?for visitors. These glaciers are changing rapidly, primarily due to the influence of warming air temperatures. The impacts of glaciers on park resources and park visitors are not only important, but quickly evolving, with important consequences for park management. For all these reasons, the Central Alaska Network has identified glaciers as one of the vital signs that should undergo long-term monitoring. This document describes the protocol for conducting that monitoring program. Glacier monitoring in the CAKN parks began in 1991 with measurements of mass balance (snow accumulation and melt) and surface elevation at one site on Denali?s Kahiltna Glacier. The monitoring has evolved since that time to include mass balance measurements on a second large glacier (Kennicott Glacier) in Wrangell-St. Elias. Those two glaciers are highly visited, compared to most other glaciers in the parks, and are relatively accessible for monitoring purposes. The objectives of these measurements are to document seasonal and interannual changes in the primary climatic forces that control glacier change: snow accumulation and melt. Combined with periodic remeasurements of the glacier boundaries and surface elevations, the protocol records mass balances of these two glaciers with both glaciological and geodetic methods, allowing analysis of total mass balance with accompanying understanding of the climatic forces behind it. The glacier monitoring protocol also calls for the use of increasingly available remote sensing techniques to document changes in glacier areas, surface elevations, and surface velocities for a broad collection of park glaciers. Outside the scope of the CAKN protocol, boundaries of all park glaciers have been digitized twice over the last decade, and this protocol calls for continuation of that decadal inventory using whatever remote sensing data and techniques are most applicable at each decadal time step. A subset of the largest park glaciers is also slated for measurement of surface elevations every 4-6 years, continuing the measurements made by Operation IceBridge since the mid-1990s.
