Abstract:

Abstract:
Description du sujet. Conclusions.

Abstract:

Abstract:

Abstract:

Abstract:
Abstract It has been suggested that β Pic b has a supersolar metallicity and subsolar C/O ratio. Assuming solar carbon and oxygen abundances for the star β Pic and therefore the planet’s parent protoplanetary disk, β Pic b’s C/O ratio suggests that it formed via core accretion between its parent protoplanetary disk’s H2O and CO2 ice lines. However, β Pic b’s high metallicity is difficult to reconcile with its mass M p = 11.7 M Jup. Massive stars can present peculiar photospheric abundances that are unlikely to record the abundances of their former protoplanetary disks. This issue can be overcome for early-type stars in moving groups by inferring the elemental abundances of the FGK stars in the same moving group that formed in the same molecular cloud and presumably share the same composition. We infer the photospheric abundances of the F dwarf HD 181327, a β Pic moving group member that is the best available proxy for the composition of β Pic b’s parent protoplanetary disk. In parallel, we infer updated atmospheric abundances for β Pic b. As expected for a planet of its mass formed via core-accretion beyond its parent protoplanetary disk’s H2O ice line, we find that β Pic b’s atmosphere is consistent with stellar metallicity and confirm that it has superstellar carbon and oxygen abundances with a substellar C/O ratio. We propose that the elemental abundances of FGK dwarfs in moving groups can be used as proxies for the otherwise difficult-to-infer elemental abundances of early-type and late-type members of the same moving groups.

As the magnetic energy is accumulated in the arcades, they expand self-similarly. In the arcades, a current sheet is formed and magnetic reconnection takes place. We also carried out 2-dimensional PIC simulations for the study of particle acceleration through magnetic reconnection. As a result, the energy spectrum of particles can be fitted by a power-law.

Abstract. Two-dimensional (2-D) particle-in-cell (PIC) simulations are performed to investigate the evolution of the electron current sheet (ECS) in guide field reconnection. The ECS is formed by electrons accelerated by the inductive electric field in the vicinity of the X line, which is then extended along the x direction due to the imbalance between the electric field force and Ampere force. The tearing instability is unstable when the ECS becomes sufficiently long and thin, and several seed islands are formed in the ECS. These tiny islands may coalesce and form a larger secondary island in the center of the diffusion region.

Abstract:
The formation of flexible molecular fibers via the solution-phase self-assembly of the pseudoisocyanine dye (PIC) 1,1’-diethyl-2,2’-cyanine and poly(vinyl sulfate) (PVS) is reported. The physical and electronic properties of these fibers spin coated into thin films on fused-quartz substrates are studied by fluorescence and topographic imaging with near-field scanning optical microscopy (NSOM) and also by atomic force microscopy (AFM). The scanned-probe images demonstrate that fibers with lengths in the hundred micron range, widths of hundreds of nanometers, and thicknesses of a few tens of nanometers, are readily formed in aqueous mixtures of PVS and PIC. Unprecedented flexibility in these fibers is exemplified by the formation of numerous curved and looped structures in the spin-coated thin films. A sandwich-like composite structure of alternating anionic PVS and cationic PIC layers is proposed as a model for the assembly of the dye and polymer in these fibers. The alternating layers in this model are held tightly together via the cooperative “cross-linking” of the PVS and PIC layers by electrostatic dye/polymer interactions, and by hydrophobic van der Waals interactions between the PIC molecules. The intermolecular interactions in the PIC layer result in the formation of a liquid-crystalline-like, well-ordered layer of the PIC, which exhibits the spectral characteristics of J-aggregates. The proposed layered structure apparently possess “reactive” surfaces which link individual fibers into a yam-like assembly. This cross-linking effect is supported by the presence of continuous circular fibers and by the gel-forming ability of the solutions from which these fibers are grown.

Abstract:
Persistent inward current (PIC)-generating Cav1.3 channels in spinal motoneuron dendrites are thought to be actively recruited during normal behaviors. However, whether and how the activation of PIC channels influences force output of motor unit remains elusive. Here, building a physiologically realistic model of slow motor unit I demonstrated that force production induced by the PIC activation is much smaller for short than lengthened muscles during the regular firing of the motoneuron that transitions from the quiescent state by either a brief current pulse at the soma or a brief synaptic excitation at the dendrites. By contrast, the PIC-induced force potentiation was maximal for short muscles when the motoneuron switched from a stable low-frequency firing state to a stable high-frequency firing state by the current pulse at the soma. Under the synaptic excitation at the dendrites, however, the force could not be potentiated by the transitioning of the motoneuron from a low- to a high-frequency firing state due to the simultaneous onset of PIC at the dendrites and firing at the soma. The strong dependency of the input-output relationship of the motor unit on the neuromodulation and Ia afferent inputs for the PIC channels was further shown under static variations in muscle length. Taken together, these findings suggest that the PIC activation in the motoneuron dendrites may differentially affect the force production of the motor unit, depending not only on the firing state history of the motoneuron and the variation in muscle length but also on the mode of motor activity. NEW & NOTEWORTHY Cav1.3 channels in motoneuron dendrites are actively involved during normal motor activities. To investigate the effects of the activation of motoneuron Cav1.3 channels on force production, a model motor unit was built based on best-available data. The simulation results suggest that force potentiation induced by Cav1.3 channel activation is strongly modulated not only by firing history of the motoneuron but also by length variation of the muscle as well as neuromodulation inputs from the brainstem.

Abstract:
Piceatannol (PIC) is a natural stilbene extracted from grape skins that exhibits biological activities such as antibacterial, antitumor, and antioxidant activities. The present study was carried out to further investigate the effect of PIC on the antibacterial activity of different antibiotics and to reveal the antibacterial mechanism of PIC. We found that PIC had an inhibitory effect against Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus); its minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) and minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC) were 128 μg/mL and 256 μg/ mL, respectively. Additionally, we measured the fractional inhibitory concentration (FIC) of PIC combined with antibiotics via the checkerboard method. The results showed that when PIC and ciprofloxacin (CIP) were combined, they displayed a synergistic effect against S. aureus. Moreover, this synergistic effect was verified by time–kill assays. Further, the results of the membrane permeability assay and proton motive force assay revealed that PIC could enhance the sensitivity of S. aureus to CIP by dissipating the bacterial proton motive force (PMF), particularly the ∆ψ component, rather than increasing membrane permeability. PIC also inhibited bacterial adenosine triphosphate (ATP) synthesis and was less likely to induce bacterial resistance but exhibited slight hemolytic activity on mammalian erythrocytes. In summary, the combination of PIC and CIP is expected to become a new drug combination to combat S. aureus.

Abstract:
This study aimed to examine the effects of change of direction (COD) speed and technique modification training on 180° turning performance (completion time, ground contact time [GCT], and exit velocity), kinetics, and kinematics. A non-randomised 6 week intervention study was administered. Thirteen male multidirectional sport athletes formed the intervention group (IG), participating in two COD speed and technique modification sessions per week. A total of 12 male multidirectional sport athletes formed the control group (CG). All subjects performed six modified 505 trials, whereby pre-to-post-intervention biomechanical changes were evaluated using three-dimensional motion analysis. Two-way mixed analysis of variances revealed significant interaction effects (group × time) for completion time, mean horizontal propulsive force (HPF), horizontal to vertical mean braking and propulsive force ratios for the penultimate (PFC) and final foot contact (FFC), FFC peak knee flexion and PFC hip flexion angle (p ≤ 0.040, η2 = 0.170–0.417). The IG displayed small to large improvements post-intervention in these aforementioned variables (p ≤ 0.058, g = 0.49–1.21). Turning performance improvements were largely to very largely (p ≤ 0.062, r or ρ = 0.527–0.851) associated with increased mean HPF, more horizontally orientated FFC propulsive force and PFC braking force, and greater pelvic rotation, PFC hip flexion, and PFC velocity reductions. COD speed and technique modification is a simple, effective training strategy that enhances turning performance.

Abstract:
Abstract Coherently coupled pseudoisocyanine (PIC) dye aggregates have demonstrated the ability to delocalize electronic excitations and ultimately migrate excitons with much higher efficiency than similar designs where excitations are isolated to individual chromophores. Here, we report initial evidence of a new type of PIC aggregate, formed through heterogeneous nucleation on DNA oligonucleotides, displaying photophysical properties that differ significantly from previously reported aggregates. This new aggregate, which we call the super aggregate (SA) due to the need for elevated dye excess to form it, is clearly differentiated from previously reported aggregates by spectroscopic and biophysical characterization. In emission spectra, the SA exhibits peak narrowing and, in some cases, significant quantum yield variation, indicative of stronger coupling in cyanine dyes. The SA was further characterized with circular dichroism and atomic force microscopy observing unique features depending on the DNA substrate. Then by integrating an AlexaFluorTM 647 (AF) dye as an energy transfer acceptor into the system, we observed mixed energy transfer characteristics using the different DNA. For example, SA formed with a rigid DNA double crossover tile (DX-tile) substrate resulted in AF emission sensitization. While SA formed with more flexible non-DX-tile DNA (i.e. duplex and single strand DNA) resulted in AF emission quenching. These combined characterizations strongly imply that DNA-based PIC aggregate properties can be controlled through simple modifications to the DNA substrate’s sequence and geometry. Ultimately, we aim to inform rational design principles for future device prototyping. For example, one key conclusion of the study is that the high absorbance cross-section and efficient energy transfer observed with rigid substrates made for better photonic antennae, compared to flexible DNA substrates.

Abstract:

Abstract:

Abstract:
Professional information and consultation services, provided effectively are the most important teaching and occupation policy element at the national, regional and local levels, also a constituent part of active labour market policy. The aim of Professional information centres (PIC) is to provide qualitative information about the world of professions, to encourage self cognition, to help making a decision which profession to choose while projecting one’s career, to provide parents and pedagogues with necessary information and support. New professional information and consultation service provision tendencies having formed, the demand of obtaining virtual information is getting more urgent for a contemporary man. Therefore, PIC internet cafes’ informativeness and provided information conformance to consumer demands are analysed in this research. The research is based on objectivism, which requires neutrality, indifference from social sciences and researchers, fact registration without their social, political evaluation. The authors keep the position, that the research based on objectivism accepts social information as objective information about really existing phenomena and processes. Analysing information in gymnasium internet cafes about PIC activity, qualitative approach dominates, i.e. interpretive paradigm which harmoniously matches with normative paradigm. Data for the research were collected between September and December, 2011. The information about accredited PIC activity was selected from 76 gymnasium internet cafes. In order to analyse research data, measures of descriptive statistics (absolute and percentage frequencies) are applied. Analysing research data, repetition frequencies of categories PIC link in the internet menu bar, PIC localisation place, PIC working hours, people participating in PIC activity, responsibilities of people participating in gymnasium PIC activity, aims and tasks of PIC activity, PIC cooperation, PIC consultations, PIC activity forms for students, PIC activity forms for students’ parents, PIC methodological help for class teachers, PIC methodological support for subject teachers, PIC information spread were measured. The obtained results allowed to identify, what information about PIC activity is provided in gymnasium internet cafes, the problems of its provision in virtual space and to create recommendatory universal PIC activity provision model, adapted for providing information in gymnasium internet café. Key words: consultation, professional information, professional information centre (PIC), PIC activity in gymnasiums.

Abstract:
Various studies in animals have shown conditioned responses toward food flavours created through their associations with positive or negative post-ingestive consequences (PIC). Essentially these studies presume a temporal contiguity, as necessary in permitting associations, and that flavours are a major determinant of such responses. It has been shown that associations between a novel food flavour and subsequent negative PIC can also be formed even when they are disassociated in time (long delay learning); no such evidence exists for this type of learning from positive PIC (Capaldi, 1992). In this study two objectives were tested: (i) whether such associations could be established with delays between consumption of a flavoured food and positive or negative PIC resulting from casein administration, and (ii) how these associations are affected by initial responses towards food flavours.

A highly efficient light-induced aggregation of porphyrin molecules in solution was recently reported for 4-[10,15,20-tris(4-sulfophenyl)-21,24-dihydroporphyrin-5-yl]benzenesulfonic acid (TPPS). Here, we demonstrate that rhodamine 6G (R6G) and pseudoisocyanine (PIC) also show efficient light-induced aggregation in unsaturated aqueous solution, being detected with a multichannel lock-in amplifier as the absorbance decrease/increase in the monomers/aggregates, induced by a laser at 633 nm, which is non-resonant off their main monomer absorption wavelengths. The light-induced aggregation states are H-aggregates that are hardly formed in the thermal equilibrium. The similar absorbance changes are absent in the monomer molecules fixed in polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) films. The aggregation efficiency defined as ( Δ A / A ) / ( U t r a p / k B T ) , where A is the absorbance of the monomers, Δ A is the absorbance increase in the aggregates, U t r a p is the optical gradient force potential, and k B T is the thermal energy at room temperature, is approximately 100 for R6G and 500 for PIC, which are much smaller than that of TPPS.

Abstract:
The paper presents a classification of 51 solvents based on clustering in three-dimensional space formed by the empirical scale of PAC, PBC, and PPC parameters designed for interpretation of solvent effect on a model with cross-terms. For the classification used are the clustering methods of the nearest neighbour, of the furthest neighbour, of average bond, and the centroid method. As a result, the solvents have been divided into 8 classes denoted as: I - nonpolar-inert solvents (aliphatic hydrocarbons), IIp - nonpolar-polarizable (aromatic hydrocarbons, tetrachloromethane, carbon disulphide), IIb - nonpolar-basic (ethers, triethylamine), IIIp - little polar-polarizable (aliphatic halogen derivatives, substituted benzenes with heteroatom-containing substituents), IIIb - little polar-basic (cyclic ethers, ketones, esters, pyridine), IVa - polar-aprotic (acetanhydride, dialkylamides, acetonitrile, nitromethane, dimethyl sulfoxide, sulfolane), IVp - polar-protic (alcohols, acetic acid), and V - exceptional solvents (water, formamide, glycol, hexamethylphosphoric triamide). The information content of the individual parameters used for the classification has been determined. The classification is based primarily on solvent polarity/acidity (PAC), less on polarity/basicity (PBC), and the least on polarity/polarizability (PPC). Causal relation between chemical structure of solvent and its effect on the process taking place therein has been established.

Abstract:
A molecular phylogeny of Ptilodactylidae shows that Podabrocephalus Pic, 1913, the type genus of Podabrocephalidae Pic, 1930 is closely related to Ptilodactyla Illiger, 1807 and other genera of Ptilodactylinae. Consequently, Podabrocephalidae Pic, 1930 syn. n. is proposed as a junior synonym of Ptilodactylidae Laporte, 1836. Earlier authors used the highly modified morphology of the male to justify a high rank for Podabrocephalus. The molecular phylogeny of Ptilodactylidae further indicates that Paralichas White, 1859 (Cladotominae) does not form a monophylum with remaining ptilodactylids. Ptilodactylinae and an undescribed lineage from Indonesia are sister to the broadly delimited Anchytarsinae. Within Ptilodactylinae, Pherocladus Fairmaire, 1881 is sister to a clade formed by Ptilodactyla spp. and Podabrocephalus. We remove Falsotherius Pic, 1913 from Ptilodactylinae to Ptilodactylidae incertae sedis, and return Daemon Laporte, 1836 from Ptilodactylinae to Anchytarsinae. Cross validation of morphology- and DNA-based phylogenies is needed for interpreting phylogenetic inference in morphologically modified lineages.

Abstract:
This essay reviews two books that provide diverging views of the relationship between the Italian Communist Party (PCI) and the Soviet Union. The first book, a lengthy collection of declassified documents from the former Soviet archives, provides abundant evidence of the PCI's crucial dependence on Soviet funding. No Communist party outside the Soviet bloc depended more on Soviet funding over the years than the PCI did. Vast amounts of money flowed from Moscow into the PCI's coffers. The Italian Communists maintained their heavy reliance on Soviet funding until the early 1980s. The other book discussed here a memoir by Gianni Cervetti, a former senior PCI financial official seeks to defend the party's policy and to downplay the importance of the aid provided by Moscow. Nonetheless, even Cervetti's book makes clear, if only inadvertently, that the link with the Soviet Union helped spark the broader collapse of Marxism-Leninism as a mobilizing force.

Abstract:
Synthetic hydrogels from polyisocyanides (PIC) are a type of novel thermoreversible biomaterials, which can covalently bind biomolecules such as adhesion peptides to provide a suitable extracellular matrix (ECM)-like microenvironment for different cells. Although we have demonstrated that PIC is suitable for three-dimensional (3D) culture of several cell types, it is unknown whether this hydrogel sustains the proliferation and passaging of cells originating from different germ layers. In the present study, we propose a 3D culture system for three representative cell sources: Schwann cells (ectoderm), hepatocytes (endoderm), and endothelial cells (mesoderm). Both Schwann cells and hepatocytes proliferated into multicellular spheroids and maintained their properties, regardless of the amount of cell-adhesive RGD motifs in long-term culture. Notably, Schwann cells grew into larger spheroids in RGD-free PIC than in PIC-RGD, while HL-7702 showed the opposite behavior. Endothelial cells (human umbilical vein endothelial cells, HUVECs) spread and formed an endothelial cell (EC) network only in PIC-RGD. Moreover, in a hepatocyte/HUVEC co-culture system, the characteristics of both cells were well kept for a long period in PIC-RGD. In all, our work highlights a simple ECM mimic that supports the growth and phenotype maintenance of cells from all germ layers in the long term. Our findings might contribute to research on biological development, organoid engineering, and in vitro drug screening.

This research is the study of electric power generated by the temperature difference below 100 °C of thermoelectric effect (cooling devices), which gets power from direct current and the electromotive force from thermoelectric module. In this research, a testing kit was designed to collect the output of temperature difference on the thermoelectric device, and compared the level of electric power of various modules in 2 different circuits; series and parallel. The result of the study showed that the higher differential temperature increased the value of electricity generation. Also, the electrical connection of thermoelectric module had an effect on power generating. When using 2 modules for each circuit, the series circuit generated more power than the parallel circuit.

Abstract:
Persistent inward current (PIC) plays a critical role in setting the gain of spinal motor neurons. In humans, most estimates of PIC are made from plantarflexor or dorsiflexor motor units in a seated position. This seated and static posture negates the task-dependent nature of the monoaminergic drive and afferent inhibition that modulate PIC activation. Our purpose was to estimate PIC during both the conventional seated posture and in a more functionally relevant anterior postural sway. We hypothesized that paired motor unit estimates of PIC would be greater when during standing compared with sitting. Soleus motor neuron PIC was estimated via the paired motor unit (PMU) technique. For each motor unit pair, difference in reference unit firing frequency (ΔF) estimates of PIC were made during isometric ramps in plantarflexion force during sitting (conventional approach) and during standing anterior postural sway (new approach). Baseline reciprocal inhibition (RI) was also measured in each posture using the poststimulus time histogram technique. ΔF estimates during standing postural sway were not different [2.64 ± 0.95 pulses/s (pps), P = 0.098] from seated PIC estimates (3.15 ± 1.45 pps) measured from the same motor unit pair. Similarly, reciprocal inhibition at the onset of each task was the same in standing (−0.60 ± 0.32, P = 0.301) and seated (−0.86 ± 0.82) postures. PMU recordings made during standing postural sway met all assumptions that underlay the PMU technique, including rate modulation ≥0.5 pps (3.11 ± 1.90 pps), rate-rate correlation r ≥ 0.7 (0.84 ± 0.13), and time between reference and test unit recruitment ≥1 s (1.83 ± 0.81 s). This study presents a novel, functionally relevant standing method for investigating PIC in humans. NEW & NOTEWORTHY Paired motor unit (PMU) estimates of persistent inward current (PIC) in human soleus motor units are typically made in seated posture. Our study demonstrates that these estimates can be made during standing forward sway, a task that more accurately reflects the postural role of human soleus muscle. PMU recordings made during standing postural sway were validated using all previously published criteria used to test the assumptions of the PMU technique. Standing estimates of PIC did not differ from seated estimates made from the same motor unit pairs.

AbstractAn effective theory of laser–plasma-based particle acceleration is presented. Here we treated the plasma as a continuous medium with an index of refraction nm in which a single electron propagates. Because of the simplicity of this model, we did not perform particle-in-cell (PIC) simulations in order to study the properties of the electron acceleration. We studied the properties of the electron motion due to the Lorentz force and the relativistic equations of motion were numerically solved and analyzed. We compared our results with PIC simulations and experimental data.

Abstract:
The carboxamide-O donor ligands dimethylacetamide (dma) and N-methylpyrrolidinone (nmp) form complexes of lanthanide picrates, Ln(pic)3, of stoichiometry Ln(pic)3(carboxamide)3 in a remarkable variety of phases. Complexes [Ln(pic)3(dma)3], Ln=La, Ce, Nd, Sm, Gd, Yb, Lu, and Y, adopt the 9-coordinate molecular form of tricapped trigonal-prismatic coordination geometry seen to predominate, as two stereoisomers, in related species involving dimethylsulfoxide (dmso), trimethylphosphate (tmp), and hexamethylphosphoramide (hmpa) but as four different phases (depending on Ln), none of which is the same as for the previously known La complex. For Ln=Pr, 9-coordinate species of composition [Pr(pic)3(dma)2(alcohol)] (alcohol=ethanol and propan-2-ol) have been characterised and a low quality determination indicates that a similar species (with propan-2-ol) is formed by Y. For nmp, the composition [Ln(pic)3(nmp)3] is maintained across the series for Ln=La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Gd, Er, Tm, Yb, and Lu but 9-coordination is not for Ln=Er, Tm, Yb, and Lu. A decreased coordination there is a result of one or two picrate ligands acting as phenoxide-O donors only, a marked contrast with the analogous Ln(pic)3 complexes with dmso, tmp, hmpa, and dma, where picrate chelation is universal, but with some parallel to related ScIII complexes. Several polymorph pairs can be identified among the nmp complexes.

Abstract:
Polyelectrolyte complex (PEC) hydrogel, formed via physically electrostatic crosslinks between polyanion and polycation, is an interesting hydrogel in terms of its nontoxicity and solvent-free technique. In this work, poly (sodium 4-styrenesulfonate) (PSS)/poly (diallyl dimethyl ammonium chloride) (PDADMAC) complex hydrogels were prepared. Firstly, the PSS/PDADMAC complex aggregates using various PSS/PDADMAC mole fractions that were prepared in the presence of NaCl solution. Then, the aggregates were resolubilized under stirring at 70 °C for 2 h to obtain a homogeneous PEC solution. Finally, the PEC solution was dialyzed using a dialysis membrane with 3500 molecular cut-off for 1 day. The dialysis bath was changed every interval period of 2 h to control the rate of reversible electrostatic interaction, resulting in the homogenous PEC hydrogel with porous morphology as revealed by SEM and BET investigations. The dimensional stability and viscoelasticity of the PEC hydrogel was studied by DMA experiment, which showed the viscoelastic behavior at a compressive force ranging from 0 to 0.1 N. Finally, PSS/PDADMAC hydrogels showed a high water absorbency property and excellent affinity to textile anionic dyes.

The increasing number of paralyzed persons and a shortage of the physical therapist is becoming an increasing problem, focusing attention on rehabilitation support. Noting the increase in wrist paralysis, we are developing corresponding rehabilitation support. Our basic approach centers on force feedback system based on the parallel 6-degree-of-freedom (DOF) Stewart platform. This parallel mechanism consists of six pneumatic cylinders whose thrust is controlled by pulse width modulation (PWM). Each cylinder has two solenoid valves for pushing and pulling controlled by PWM signals from a programmable interface controller (PIC). The influence of pneumatic cylinder control on air compression must be considered, so we guaranteed accumulator effects on control characteristics. We confirmed that cylinder thrust is applicable to the pneumatic parallel mechanism, and experimental force control results are presented.

Abstract:
Molar volumes (Vj) of ion-pair complexes (MLAz = j; z = 1, 2) and simple complex ions (CdL2+) without a pairing anion A− obtained at 298 K from the plots of the regular solution theory and the geometrical relation Vj = (4π/3)Rj3 were used for an estimation of their apparent radii (Rj) in liquid phases. Here, the cases for Mz+ = Li+-Cs+, Cd2+, and Pb2+ and L = 18-crown-6 ether (18C6) and benzo-18C6 (B18C6) with A− = Cl−-I− and picrate ion (Pic−) were examined. The thus-estimated Rj values were related to h(ML+), λmax, and (r+ + r−) values, where these symbols refer to the number of water molecules attached to the univalent complex ions, ML+, extracted into water-saturated nitrobenzene, absorption maxima of Pic− with ML+ in water-saturated chloroform, and the sum in an effective ionic radius, r+ or r−, between the central Mz+ and the pairing A−, respectively. The data points of j = Li(18C6)Pic, Na(18C6)Pic, M(B18C6)Pic with M = Na-Rb(I), Cd18C62+, Cd(18C6)Cl2, Cd(18C6)Br2, and Cd(18C6)I2 showed larger deviations from the line of Rj = (r+ + r−). While j = M(18C6)Pic with M = K-Cs(I) and M(18C6)Pic2 with Cd(II) and Pb(II) were on the line. It was demonstrated that essentially the former groups are present as water-separated and -shared ion pairs in the phases, while the latter ones as contact pairs.

Abstract:

Abstract:
ABSTRACTProlonged (≥60 s) passive muscle stretching acutely reduces maximal force production at least partly through a suppression of efferent neural drive. The origin of this neural suppression has not been determined; however, some evidence suggests that reductions in the amplitude of persistent inward currents (PICs) in the motoneurons may be important. The aim of the present study was to determine whether acute passive (static) muscle stretching affects PIC strength in gastrocnemius medialis (GM) and soleus (SOL) motor units. We calculated the difference in instantaneous discharge rates at recruitment and de-recruitment (ΔF) for pairs of motor units in GM and SOL during triangular isometric plantar flexor contractions (20% maximum) both before and immediately after a 5 min control period and immediately after five 1 min passive plantar flexor stretches. After stretching, there was a significant reduction in SOL ΔF (−25.6%; 95% confidence interval, CI=−45.1% to −9.1%, P=0.002) but not GM ΔF. These data suggest passive muscle stretching can reduce the intrinsic excitability, via PICs, of SOL motor units. These findings (1) suggest that PIC strength might be reduced after passive stretching, (2) are consistent with previously established post-stretch decreases in SOL but not GM EMG amplitude during contraction, and (3) indicate that reductions in PIC strength could underpin the stretch-induced force loss.

Abstract:
AbstractEnergetic electron beam generation from a thin foil target by the ponderomotive force of an ultra-intense circularly polarized laser pulse is investigated. Two-dimensional particle-in-cell (PIC) simulations show that laser pulses with intensity of 1022–1023 Wcm−2 generate about 1–10 GeV electron beams, in agreement with the prediction of one-dimensional theory. When the laser intensity is at 1024–1025 Wcm−2, the beam energy obtained from PIC simulations is lower than the values predicted by the theory. The radiation damping effect is considered, which is found to become important for the laser intensity higher than 1025 Wcm−2. The effect of laser focus positions is also discussed.

Abstract:
Research on the rock-breaking performance of the Polycrystalline Diamond Compact (PDC) cutter has primarily focused on sharp cutters, often overlooking the influence of chamfer. Notably, the design of chamfer parameters has been largely unreported. In this study, we established a theoretical model of cutting force that takes chamfer into account. We analysed the primary and secondary relationships of four factors – back rake angle, depth of cut, chamfer angle, and chamfer length – on the force of the PDC cutter. This was done through a pseudo-level orthogonal level test. A numerical simulation, based on the Smooth Particle Hydrodynamic (SPH) method, was conducted to analyse the rock-breaking force and stress distribution characteristics of PDC cutters with different chamfer angles. Combined with a drop hammer impact test, we provided an optimized design of chamfer parameters. Our findings revealed that while the chamfer had a relatively minor influence on the force of the PDC cutter, it contributed to the optimal distribution of stress on the PDC cutter. This effectively protected the cutting edge and prevented early cracks and spalls of the cutter. When the chamfer angle was less than or equal to the back rake angle, the resultant force of the PDC cutter increased with the increase of the chamfer angle. However, when the chamfer angle was greater than the back rake angle, the resultant force of the PDC cutter first increased and then slightly decreased with the increase of the chamfer angle. Additionally, the resultant force of the PDC cutter increased approximately linearly with the increase of chamfer length. When the chamfer angle of the PDC cutter was between 30° and 45°, the fluctuation of the cutting force was relatively smooth, the rock-breaking process was stable, and the cutter’s impact resistance energy was relatively higher. These findings will provide valuable guidelines for the design of chamfered PDC cutters.

Abstract:
The purpose of study was to assess the genetic diversity of potato varieties of different maturity groups by SSR markers. Twenty-four potato varieties of different maturity groups (very early, yearly, medium, late) were investigated by 8 SSR markers (STM0019, STM3009, STM2005, STM2028, STM3012, STM3023, STM5136, STM5148) for genetic diversity assessment. To assess the genetic diversity of studied varieties, the cluster analysis was performed and the genetic distances between varieties were determined. As results of PCR analysis from 6 to 10 alleles were determined with an average of 7.88 alleles. The most polymorphic marker was STM2028 with PIC 0.89. The lowest value of PIC (0.78) was obtained for STM3012 marker. For other studied markers values of PIC were from 0.82 to 0.88. It was found, that the most similar varieties are varieties with genetic distance 3.74: Pravda and Riviera, Pravda and Vzirets. The most different varieties turned out to be Vzirets and Lilly, ESMEE and Opilla varieties with genetic distance 6.00. Thus, it was found that the major of studied varieties formed cluster grouts according their maturity groups.

Abstract:
One of the problems with the doubly-fed induction generator (DFIG) is its high vulnerability to network perturbations, notably voltage dips, because of its stator windings being coupled directly to the network. As the DFIG’s stator and rotor are electromagnetically mated, the stator current peak occurs during a voltage dip causing an inrush current to the critical converter back-to-back and an overload of the DC-link capacitor. For this purpose, a series of researchers have achieved a linear and non-linear controller with a crowbar-based protection scheme. With this type of protection, the Rotor Side Converter (RSC) is disconnected momentarily, and consequently, its control of both the active and reactive output power of the stator is totally lost, leading to incorrect power quality at the point of common coupling (PCC). In this document, a robust nonlinear controller by Advanced Backstepping with Integral Action Control (ABIAC) is initially employed to monitor the rotor and the network side converters under normal network operations. In the presence of a network fault, an improved protection scheme (IPS) is tacked on to the robust nonlinear control to help enforce the behavior of the DFIG system to be able to overcome the fault. The IPS, which is formed by a crowbar and an RL series circuit, is typically located in the space between the rotor coils and the RSC converter. Compared to a standard crowbar, the developed scheme is successful to limit the rotor transient current and DC-link voltage, also an RSC disengagement to rotor windings can be prevented during the fault. Furthermore, the controllers of both the RSC and the Network Side Converter (NSC) are modified to boost the supply voltage at the PCC. A comparative study is also performed between the IPS without and with modification of the reactive power control loops. The simulation results mean that with the modified controllers during the fault, the amount of reactive power sustainment with ABIAC at the PCC is optimized to 17.5 MVAr instead of 15 MVAr with proportional-integral control (PIC). Therefore, the voltage at the PCC is fort increased in order to comply with the voltage requirements of the farm and absolutely to maintain the connection to the network in case of voltage dip.
