Full textFootball is the most popular sport in the world, especially among children and adolescents. Optimizing the physical potential of young soccer players is one of the main objectives of academies and training centers. In fact, the elite young players must be ready to perform and support high training loads observed at high level. Monitoring the anthropometric development, physical and physiological adaptations and endocrine responses may help to better understand the effects of intensive training in young elite soccer and thus help to guide the development process. Consequently, in this thesis four studies were conducted to answer this problematic. In the first one, we studied the Physical and anthropometric profile according playing position in young elite soccer players (a longitudinal study). In the second, we analyzed the Effects of a soccer season on anthropometric characteristics and physical fitness in elite young soccer players. To avoid the classical methodological bias related to puberty and maturation, we also performed the same measurements in a group of adolescents of the same biological age. In the last two studies we analyzed the effects of two seasons of high-level training on hormonal responses of the somatotropic axis (GH, IGF-I, IGFBP3) (Study 3) and cortical-gonadotropic axis (cortisol, testosterone, SHBG) (Study 4) in elite adolescents soccer players in relation to training load and to physical fitness in young elite soccer players and control subjects of the same biological age.Our results showed a significant improvement in anthropometric characteristics, physical and physiological parameters throughout the follow-up in these elite young soccer players without distinction based on the position of the game. They also indicate a likely acceleration of pubertal maturation related to football practice at high level. We also demonstrated that the endocrine system and especially the hormones responses of somatotropic and cortical-gonadotropic axis do not seem to be affected by the training process performed in the Academy of the Tunisian elite. This training process seems to be even beneficial. This thesis shows that the analysis and monitoring longitudinal anthropometric characteristics, physical, physiological and endocrine responses of young footballers can be beneficial in practice. Our work has, at least in part, established a baseline profile of the young Tunisian elite player. This kind of monitoring can well ensure the physical integrity and health of young athletes by reducing the risk of injuries or overtraining

Full textThis work is dedicated to scientists, coaches and physical trainers as well as athletes involved in elite soccer activity. The scientific results and their practical applications could be used as a basis for the work of scientists as well as football professionals. The first part of this thesis showed that playing positions significantly influence activity profile. Moreover, this study demonstrated that the work/rest ratio observed in elite soccer Italian Serie A championship attained 1/8 and represented a mean work time of 2.2 seconds for an averaged recovery time of 18 seconds. The second part of this thesis, explored the evolution of activity profile and total ball possession during 3 consecutive seasons in the same elite team. This study has showed how for three consecutive seasons the players of successful Serie-A team reduced their distances performed at submaximal speeds, and increased ball possession while maintaining the distances covered at high/maximal speeds. It is suggested that this is due to a better understanding of tactical roles and team organization. The third part of the thesis tended to develop and to valid a specific agility soccer test composed with fundamental soccer tasks which has to be performed as quickly as possible. The validity and repeatability of the test has been demonstrated and it has been applied on a large population of different ages, positions and levels. As a conclusion, this thesis provided new specific results and perspectives that would influence professional soccer athletic conditioning and that provided a new specific test to detect young soccer players

Full textThis thesis had two principal objectives: i), to provide an objective analysis of the impact of sport-specific-rehab (SSR) on the neuromotor control of high-level soccer players ; ii) to develop a theoretical model that could predict the likelihood of injury in healthy athletes. The experimental countermovement jump (CMJ) model was employed to test the specific hypotheses associated with each of the five studies. The kinetic, kinematic and electromyographic (EMG) parameters of the CMJ were calculate using a force platform, a high-speed camera and surface electrodes, respectively. Three pathologies of the lower-limb were considered: anterior cruciate ligament rupture of the knee, knee chondropathy and muscular lesions of the thigh. The initial study demonstrated that the biomechanical and electromyographic parameters of the CMJ of the injured leg and the non-injured leg were altered in all pathological groups. The three-week SSR programme led to a notable improvement in these parameters, which are indicative of neuromotor control. In a second study, the level of functional recovery of the soccer players was evaluated using two methods: the LSI (limb symmetry index) and the Norm-Values method. The findings indicated that the Norm-Values method was the most effective in discriminating between the groups. In a third study, an intergroup comparison of biomechanical and EMG parameters revealed the existence of a 'neuromotor signature' specific to each pathology. In a fourth study, the results demonstrated that superimposing a visual information-gathering task (secondary task) had a beneficial effect on CMJ parameters (primary task). This was likely due to the injured athletes' attention being defocused towards the secondary task. In a final study, healthy players were monitored over the course of a season with the objective of developing a theoretical predictive model of injury. This model, based on a machine learning method, revealed non-significant trends in the occurrence of injuries as a function of the neuromotor characteristics of the players. Overall, these results contribute to advancing knowledge and practices in the field of rehabilitation

Full textIn a four-year longitudinal study, we followed about twenty elite teenagers soccer and their families. We tried to understand the challenges of psychological support for the high-level athletic teenager in a sports structure. A triangulation of methods characterizes our research work. It crosses qualitative and quantitative data in different systems : sports and family. Once data were analysed, we developed modeling from the Ionescu model. It can help sports psychology professionals to identify the times and spaces of resilience in a teenager's sport path that enable his individuation. Our methodology opens up new possibilities of intervention in the field of sport to meet new needs. Questioning the appropriateness of psychological support has led to questions about the reponsability of sports organizations on the biopsychosocial development of the adolescent on the one and support for the parenthood of his family on the other
