Abstract:
The beginning of the vocational guidance in Argentina was based on detecting personal characteristics regarding working abilities, and many social aspects were considered in the assessment process. In this country, increasing social exclusion as a product of poverty, lack of opportunities, unemployment and poor level of education, have introduced new aspects in vocational guidance considerations related to this new set of high level structural complexity. The professional responsibility in providing vocational guidance in such context is analyzed considering two kinds of sources: ethical standards of psychology, and specific competencies of vocational guidance.

Abstract:
Purpose – This paper aims to present an integrated model of workplace guidance to enhance awareness of what constitutes good guidance, to improve workplace guidance practices in vocational education and training. Design/methodology/approach – To identify constituent aspects of workplace guidance, a systematic search of Web of Science was conducted, focussing on mentoring literature, research on institutional socialization tactics and research on didactical interventions and their effects. Findings – The model interprets workplace learning as a relational and integrated process of participation, acquisition, guidance and social interaction. Psychosocial support, structure-providing interventions and didactical interventions are discussed as essential components of guidance. How these components are enacted is influenced by the characteristics of training firms and their employees’ readiness to provide guidance. This makes guidance an intrapersonal process. Workplace guidance is also an interpersonal process in which the agencies of employees mediate the relationship between guidance and interaction, and the agencies of trainees mediate the relationship between, on the one hand, participation and acquisition and, on the other hand, social interaction. Originality/value – Integrated models of what constitutes good workplace guidance are rare. To fill this gap, this paper highlights constituent aspects of workplace guidance and brings them together in an integrated model. The model can help mentors/employees choose effective interventions to improve workplace learning.

Abstract:
The author of the article has presented the results of the analysis of national approaches to the implementation of vocational guidance work among young people for the selection of police specialties. On this basis the author has singled out problematic issues in each of the vocational guidance areas (professional information, professional counseling, professional selection and professional adaptation). A number of general problems of vocational guidance among young people has been considered. The author has emphasized the general and special shortcomings in the organization and conduction of vocational guidance in regard to professional choice in general and professions related to the service in the units of the National Police of Ukraine, in particular. The general shortcomings include both the peculiarities of the organization of vocational guidance (lack of a unified system of vocational guidance work, insufficient level of interaction between the participants in the process of vocational guidance, lack of an individual, differentiated and phased approach to each individual while implementing professional choice, etc.) and its content component (low level of awareness of children, parents and teachers regarding the existing social professional inquiry; improper attention to the motivational component of the profession selection, etc.). The special shortcomings include the following: lack of awareness among young people about the peculiarities of different specialties (an investigator, an employee of operational units, a district police officer, etc.); lack of opportunity to try themselves in different types of law enforcement activities within the framework of interaction, for example, between district police station, educational institution, school and parents; insufficient use of media opportunities to adequately cover various aspects of police activities. The author has emphasized the necessity of creating an effective strategy of vocational guidance and qualitative selection procedure, referral and enrollment of young people to higher educational institutions with specific learning conditions.

Abstract:
This article compares how vocational guidance is provided in schools in Britain and three Continental European countries. The comparisons are based on classroom observations and interviews with teachers in some two dozen secondary schools in Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands, together with a similar number in Britain. Careers guidance on the Continent begins earlier, is taught by careers specialists in separate lessons devoted to the topic, and is geared specifically to providing youngsters with detailed information on the content and requirements for particular types of work. The lack of focus on occupationally-specific information in ‘careers guidance’ in British schools, particularly in the now-widespread ‘Personal and Social Education’ (PSE) courses, leaves many British youngsters at a distinct disadvantage in making a successful transition to the world of work. The article suggests a number of relatively simple measures which could significantly improve careers education in British schools.

Abstract:
The youth in the 21st century are facing numerous issues that may affect their ability to do well and properly in school. Every student has strong needs and desires to reach some set goals but in this competitive era, their life is being complicated day by day and vastly affected by various mental health problems in schools, and many other educational, vocational, social, emotional, and behavioral problems among them in our country. One of the reasons for these problems is lack of guidance and counseling services in our schools. According to Şahin Kesici, “a student whose personal guidance and counseling need is satisfied can; establish harmonious relationship with friends and parents, knows his/herself, improve problem solving and communication skills. Besides, s/he can improve social skills, cope with test anxiety and make effective decisions” (Kesici, 2007, p. 1327). On the other hand, when the needs are not met, and a student’s functioning in school suffers for an extended period, the student may break away from school completely (DeSocio & Hootman, 2004). To overcome negative psychological aspects which affect the student’s life, the present research paper is an attempt to identify need assessment counseling for school adolescent students. Need assessment questionnaire (NAQ) constructed and developed by Dogar, Azeem, Majoka, Mehmood, and Latif (2011) which included different areas, i.e. educational, vocational, social, emotional and behavioral needs of students counseling was administered to a sample of 168 (84 male and 84 female) adolescent students of 10th class. The results of the present study indicated that the main effect of gender (male and female) branch of study (science and social science) and the interaction effect between branch of study (science and social sciences) and gender (male and female) were found significant on overall counseling needs. Whereas gender and branch (stream) of study differences were not found in the counseling domains (educational, vocational, social, emotional, and behavioral) areas of counseling needs.

Abstract:
Guidance and counselling constitute the best approach to help children and their families deal with life’s frustrating issues. In the school context, guidance and counselling services assist the school to manage discipline and deal with the influence of social evils on learners and the learning environment. However, for guidance and counselling services to be effective in schools, several factors must be put in place. Among these factors, the key is school management support for guidance and counselling services. In recognition of this fact, the study examined the influence of the schools’ management attitudes towards guidance and counselling on the implementation of guidance and counselling programmes in secondary schools in Baringo Central Sub-County. The study used the descriptive survey research method. It relied on a sample of 36 secondary schools with 36 principals and 72 teacher-counsellors. The research employed a questionnaire to collect the data. The collected data was then analysed using SPSS, version 22. The results of the study revealed that although most schools’ managers had embraced and recognised the role of guidance and counselling in their schools, little time and resources were availed to sustain these important services. This situation had negatively affected the implementation of guidance and counselling in schools. Therefore, it was recommended that guidance should be conceptualised in a broader and more comprehensive and holistic view, incorporating vocational and other aspects of development

Abstract:
The article substantiates the model of “reverse inclusion” in the interconnection of sociostructural, sociocultural and spatial aspects. In addition to these aspects, the paper describes the socio-legal and socio-pedagogical foundations of the model. Along with the key category of inclusion the following categories are revealed: “disability”, “disabled person”, “social barrier”, “inclusive social strategy”, and “inclusive strategy in education”. “Reverse inclusion” is opposed to the dominant model of direct inclusion. Due to the fact that the article is of a theoretical and methodological nature, factual data play an illustrative role. The empirical base is represented by secondary data, as well as by some references to the authors’ research of 2016 conducted by the staff of the research laboratory of the Moscow State University of Humanities and Economics for purposes of vocational guidance; in this research a series of 27 in-depth interviews were carried out with students with musculoskeletal disorders studying at MSUHE.

Abstract:
College students' voluntary service is an important part of social public service, and also an important manifestation of college students' social practice. Business vocational schools play a key role in practicing morality and cultivating people, and guiding college students to practice voluntary service. College students' voluntary service has a diversified and objective function of ideological and political education. However, due to cognitive deviation, lax management and imperfect system, there are still many loopholes in college students' voluntary service in playing its educational function. The ideological guidance and behavior guidance for college students need to be improved. Therefore, on the basis of clarifying the ideological and political education function of college students' volunteer service, and based on the problems existing in the current education function, we should promote the innovation and development of college students' volunteer ideological and political education from all aspects, such as deepening rational cognition, strengthening education publicity, improving management system, and improving security mechanism, so as to better attract college students to participate in volunteer service.

Abstract:
Technical and vocational skills are essential for the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to secure growth and wealth as per the UAE Vison 2021, Abu Dhabi Vision 2030 and Emiratization strategies. Gaining insights about the factors that influence Emirati students that study technical and vocational education can support the UAE to attract more Emiratis into that area. What are those major influential factors, and are there any differences related to the gender, age level, and location of living in the UAE? The factor analysis revealed five underlying factors; the career factor, the economic factor, the guidance factor, the media factor, and the social environment factor. The career factor (M = 3.48) is perceived as the most influential one, followed by the social environment factor (M = 3.32). The independent sample t-test presented a statistically significant difference between male (M = 2.8, SD = 1.066, N = 178) and female (M = 2.6, SD = 1.066, N = 250) perceptions in the economic factor (t [426] = 2.042 = 0.042, p < 0.05). The result shows that males place more emphasis on the economic aspect when considering their educational paths. The one-way ANOVA revealed a statistically significant variance in the economic factor for the location of living (F [7,420] = 4.278, p < 0.05). The research discloses that the career aspects and future job perspectives in addition to parents of national students are the most considerable influencer, which is forming the basis for this study. Differences in perceptions could be discovered for economic aspects only. The findings reveal it is essential to consider the career, economic aspect, and parents’ involvement when marketing technical and vocational education to Emirati students. Social media marketing is recommended as an advertising tool for best results.

Abstract:
BackgroundEmerging adults, the developmental period ranging from the late teens through the 20s, experience chronic pain at an estimated rate of 7.6%–14.3% and report greater pain interference (i.e., pain that disrupts daily life activities) than middle-aged or older adults. Chronic pain can interfere with the completion of developmental tasks associated with biological, psychological, occupational, and social changes necessary to move from emerging adulthood into young adulthood. For these reasons, the impact of chronic pain may be more detrimental for emerging adults than for middle-aged and older adults.ObjectiveTo investigate the unique characteristics and vocational rehabilitation needs of emerging adults with chronic pain and to identify and implement policies, practices, and interventions that facilitate the achievement of vocational rehabilitation consumer’s self-determined goals.MethodsThe authors reviewed the literature on (a) common conditions that cause chronic pain in emerging adults, (b) the populations most at risk of experiencing chronic pain in emerging adulthood, (c) psychosocial aspects of chronic pain for this population, (d) vocational impact of chronic pain on emerging adults, and (e) the use of the disability centrality model to guide assessment and planning.ConclusionThis literature review examines best practices related to vocational rehabilitation and emerging adults living with chronic pain. Comprehensive recommendations are provided that inform all phases of the vocational rehabilitation planning process, including services related to outreach and eligibility, counseling and guidance, physical and mental restoration, post-secondary education, job development and placement, and accommodation planning.

Abstract:
ObjectivesWe aim to examine the relative contributions of pathways from middle childhood/adolescence to mid-life well-being, health and cognition, in the context of family socio-economic status (SES) at birth, educational achievement and early-adulthood SES. Our approach is largely exploratory, suspecting that the strongest mediators between childhood circumstances and mid-life physical and emotional well-being may be cognitive performance during school years, material and behavioural difficulties, and educational achievement. We also explore whether the effects of childhood circumstances on mid-life physical and emotional well-being differ between men and women.Setting/participantsData were from the National Child Development Study, a fully-representative British birth cohort sample of 17 415 people born in 1 week in 1958.Primary/secondary outcome measuresOur four primary mid-life outcome measures are: cognitive performance, physical and emotional well-being and quality of life. Our intermediate adult outcomes are early-adulthood social class and educational/vocational qualifications.ResultsUsing structural equation modelling, we explore numerous pathways through childhood and early adulthood which are significantly linked to our outcomes. We specifically examine the mediating effects of the following: cognitive ability at ages 7, 11 and 16 years; childhood psychological issues; family material difficulties at age 7 years: housing, unemployment, finance; educational/vocational qualifications and social class position at age 42 years. We find that social class at birth has a strong indirect effect on the age 50 outcomes via its influence on cognitive performance in childhood and adolescence, educational attainment and mid-life social class position, together with small direct effects on qualifications and social class position at age 42 years. Teenage cognitive performance has a strong positive effect on later physical health for women, while educational/vocational qualifications have a stronger positive effect on emotional well-being for men.ConclusionOur findings provide an understanding of the legacy of early life on multiple aspects of mid-life health, well-being, cognition and quality of life, showing stronger mediated links for men from childhood social class position to early adult social class position. The observed effect of qualifications supports those arguing that education is positively associated with subsequent cognitive functioning.

Abstract:
The Siberian political exile of the 19th — early 20th centuries is an interesting multifaceted topic with a significant number of issues that require a comprehensive in-depth study. Despite the extensive range of studies on the Siberian political exile history, for some questions a thorough careful research is needed. This work is focused on one of the aspects of the versatile activities of the political exiles — cultural and educational activities. The relevance of this topic is determined by the importance of further development of Russian-Kazakh relations, taking into account the historical experience of interaction between the political exiles and the local population, determining the contribution and significance of the cultural and educational activities of the exiles in the life of the region. The article aims to review the cultural and educational activity of the political exiles in Ust-Kamenogorsk in the 1880s — early 20th century and define its significance for the social development of the city and the region. Based on the available sources and literature, the work reflects the issues of the city cultural and educational institutions formation and the actual participation of the political exiles in it. New information on their biographies is added. Many Ust-Kamenogorsk secondary and vocational schools, museums and libraries were opened thanks to the cultural and educational activities of the political exiles who advocated for the elimination of illiteracy and the development of culture. Special courses were organized, the People's House was created. Undoubtedly, this showed exiled people’s pro-active approach to life aimed at spreading knowledge among the local population and the cultural development of the city and the region.

Abstract:
An ergonomics intervention research study was carried out with an aim to prevent workplace injury for students enrolled in the Training for a Semiskilled Trade (TST) vocational program, which was recently instituted in Quebec, Canada. The article lays out certain discrepancies between the institution-prescribed parameters for TST intern supervision and workplace realities, in order to best determine the foundations upon which workplace injury prevention programs might be based. With this goal in mind, the article outlines some aspects of the social setting encountered upon entering the workforce, specifically communications with colleagues and access to guidance and support in the workplace. Methods were based on analysis of ministerial and institutional training documentation and a two-wave data collection protocol comprising individual interviews with interns and observation of work situations to document the orientation and training process. Results showed that workplace supervisory conditions are rather different from what is described in the training program documentation. Several students, contrary to program specifications, find themselves in incidental work situations involving supervising colleagues who have unofficially elected or accidentally taken on such roles. Access to supervision and guidance is not always promptly provided, meaning young workers are left without structured help and support. Furthermore, apprentices find themselves in an incredibly diverse range of contexts and settings. Hence, it should be deemed essential to develop flexible teaching and learning tools which can apply or be adapted to a variety of contexts. The training program’s traditional supervisor-apprentice partnership model would be best revised to maximize the use of all valuable on-site resources and ensure students develop skills to stay healthy at work.

Abstract:
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to report on the findings of a survey conducted by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) to discuss the extent to which qualified valuers have adapted their valuation practices in the light of guidance published by RICS in respect of sustainability and commercial property. The findings are placed within a wider debate between assessment of market value and investment value (worth). Design/methodology/approach The paper is a theoretical discussion incorporating the results from an empirical survey of valuation practitioners. Findings The paper reveals that guidance published by RICS in 2011 has achieved limited, but variable, impact in terms of impacting on valuation practice due to a combination of factors including lack of knowledge of the guidance, non-requirement of clients to request sustainability reporting within valuations, paucity of data. It found that where worth (investment value) is required, sustainability factors are more likely to impact the calculation than where an estimate of market value is prepared. The paper identifies theoretical problems and practical barriers hindering an integration of sustainability aspects into valuation practice. Research limitations/implications The empirical work was conducted prior to the embedding of guidance within the mandatory provisions of the “Red Book”; the study therefore reports on a direction of travel rather than the current position. The implications for research are the requirement to enhance data capture and to seek ways to break down the barriers to more comprehensive integration of such data so that worth and market values may begin to converge. Practical implications The paper has practical implications for both the education of valuers which is proposed through the RenoValue project discussed in the paper and for the RICS in monitoring progress towards more specific integration within valuers’ calculations. Further, the paper identifies that clients and lenders have a key role to play through the instructions given to valuers. Social implications There is now widespread recognition that properties which are not resource efficient and which are not equipped to flex to changing occupier needs may not currently be “future proofed” in investment value terms and are likely to see value erosion over time. Further, buildings have a key role in terms of climate change policy. Whilst new buildings can be mandated to meet improved efficiency standards, the ways in which buildings owners can be encouraged to upgrade will be important moving forward. One way is through a value chain response. Originality/value The survey is the most comprehensive investigation of valuer’s practice in relation to sustainability and the assessment of market value and worth undertaken. This provides a unique insight into the effectiveness of professional guidance and enables an informed discussion as to appropriate ways to enhance guidance moving forward.

Abstract:
Islamic banking has problems in determining its identities which are perceived variedly by the people. The profit sharing system and Islamic legal contract developed in Islamic finance are no longer perceived distinctively because they have been modified adjusting to the trends in common finance system. However, aspects that should have been the spirits (ruh) of Islamic finance can be systematically ruined in the merely profit-oriented infrastructure and business vision. Muslim societies' problems should have been solved by the presence of Islamic banking. One of which is the problem of financial access far the have-nots. This can be constructed as a farm of support which acts as identities and cores of Islamic finance. A number of strategic steps offered in this paper are: 1. The purity of akad (contract) and the creation of togetherness; 2. Making humanity problems as the ultimate orientation, not the accumulation of capital- 3. Making use social modal, creating the environment of support through the development of norms and communal awareness in distributing risk as well as conducting continuous guidance. Through those approaches and steps, Islamic banking is expected to have different identities from those of other finance systems. Therefore, togetherness and familyness (jama'ah wal ukhuwah) can constantly become the ultimate spirits in creating nation's welfare as written in article 33 of the National Constitution (UUD 194 5), and not through the individualistic competitive condition. Abstract:
The paper proposes the mainstreaming of the conceptual potential of Yu. M. Lotman (1922–1993) and M. K. Petrov (1923–1987) scientific and philosophical heritage relating to the theory of explosive complexity, increasing diversity and instability, which our society has recently been observing in occupational, vocational and professional spheres and the related social institutions (professional associations, professional education, professional guidance, etc.). Heterogeneous and heteronomic being-in-common (Fr. partage) in light of the works of J.-L. Nancy (b. 1940) is the most important heuristic intuition of the proposed updating. It allows one to think through a single, but flexible, multi-directionally transformable and polysemantic framework for the future theory of rapidly updated professional diversity, its explanation, forecast of likely development scenarios and strategies for self-determination within it and management strategies in relation to it. The authors present the conceptual unfolding of the intuition of being-in-common (partage) to be compatible with both the theoretical provisions of the semiotics of culture of Yu. М. Lotman and the socio-cultural dynamics of M. K. Petrov. Professionology is still searching for a methodological platform that would complement its retrospective generalizations and interdisciplinary discontinuity. The actualization of the potential of the concept of compatibility allows it to consolidate multidisciplinary research and its results and to guide them along the path of careful and, at the same time, bold theoretical construction in accordance with what social processes declare themselves to be. The authors observe the readiness of today’s multidisciplinary discourse to unite on such a methodological platform that allows for not to being lost in it under the influence of priorities and presumptions that are inevitable for the methodology, but, at the same time, focusing the collective efforts of occupational researchers on the most promising and practice-oriented aspects of the subject of their research.

Abstract:
Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to re-examine the role of personality in occupational specialty choice, to better understand how and in what ways personality traits might influence vocational development after a person has chosen a career. Design/methodology/approach – The study tested hypotheses in a sample of UK medical students, each of whom had chosen their specialty pathway, and completed a measure of the Big Five personality traits. Associations of the junior doctor’s Big Five personality traits with the Holland’s realistic, investigative, artistic, social, enterprising, conventional (RIASEC) profiles of their medical specialty selections (derived from the O*NET database) were examined. Findings – Findings provided good support for the hypotheses. Junior doctors’ agreeableness (with social) and neuroticism (with realistic, artistic and enterprising) were the main predictors of the RIASEC profiles of their specialty selections. Research limitations/implications – The findings suggest that personality traits influence specialty selection in predictable ways, and differently compared to occupational choice. The paper discusses findings within a theoretical framework that explains how and why trait influences on within occupational specialty selection differ from influences on occupational interest and choice more broadly. The potential mechanisms underlying these associations are explored in the context of motivational aspects of agreeableness and neuroticism. Practical implications – Within-occupation specialties should feature in career guidance discussions and interventions more explicitly to enable people to decide whether occupational specialties are available that appeal to their individual differences. Originality/value – This is the first study to examine the relations of personality and occupational specialty through the lens of the RIASEC model, and the first to propose cross-occupation theoretical pathways from personality to specialty choice. The data from the field of medicine enable us to test the propositions in a suitably diverse set of occupational specialties.

Abstract:
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to show how the choice and ongoing evaluation of a firm’s business model, as a matter of strategic guidance, are key aspects of corporate governance (CG), with particular reference to risk management (RM) in Islamic banks. Design/methodology/approach This research uses a case study approach, with a single case, which was chosen as it fits very well the purpose of this research. The data collection was based largely on documentary evidence. Company data were collected from company annual reports, press releases and legitimate web sites. The ORBIS Bank Focus database was also used to produce a comparative financial analysis. Findings The study findings illustrate how an apparently successful business model may fail due to an inherent instability that could have been identified through the application of careful risk analysis (including stress testing) in the choice and ongoing evaluation of the business model, which robust CG and strategic guidance require. In particular, Arcapita’s problems illustrate the dangers to Islamic financial institutions (IFI) from business models that involve undue exposure to liquidity risk. Practical implications The issues raised in the paper are important in that Islamic banking and finance is an integral part of the global banking and finance industry. Investors and regulators are now requesting corporate management to provide improved service to shareholders and other stakeholders alike. IFI rely on the confidence of investors and market participants, just like conventional institutions and when this confidence erodes, it may prove difficult to regain. Social implications The global credit crisis of 2008 caused significant difficulties to firms, especially financial institutions, even with substantial government intervention in the economy, which raised some issues of CG and ethics. Originality/value This paper extends the knowledge of the potential effects of weaknesses in CG and RM, with specific reference to strategic guidance in the choice and ongoing evaluation of a firm’s business model, especially in relation to the Islamic banking sector. It also provides a telling illustration of the need for the enhancements of the Basel Committee’s prudential requirements set out in the various Basel III documents.

Abstract:
The cost of education is a common problem for students, especially in the era of the Covid-19 pandemic. In addition, the free time that parents use to earn a living for the family during the Covid-19 pandemic has made a minimal role in social education and character guidance for children at home. For this reason, the role of the community is needed in helping to finance education and character building for underprivileged families. This study attempts to describe the role of the Al Ma'ruf Orphans Education Fund Management Team (TPD PAY) in the education of orphans and poor people around the al-Ma'ruf mosque. This type of research is based on a qualitative approach paradigm with a case study method. Data were obtained through interviews, observation, and document review. Then, it is analyzed through data sorting techniques, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of this study indicate that the role of TPD PAY Al Ma'ruf for orphans and poor people around the al Ma'ruf mosque is very beneficial. This is marked by 3 aspects, namely (1) providing educational scholarships for orphans and poor people around the al Ma'ruf mosque, (2) fostering children's character based on the Koran, and (3) supporting children's talents and creativity.

Abstract:
Mass collaboration can bring about major transformative changes in the way people can work collectively. This emerging paradigm promises significant economic and social benefits and enhanced efficiency across a range of sectors, including learning and education. Accordingly, this article introduces, demonstrates in use, and evaluates an organizational and governance model designed to provide guidance and execution support for the implementation and operation of mass collaborative learning initiatives. The design science research process is adopted to guide the design and development of the proposed model. The model stands on three streams of work, addressing key aspects and elements that have a supporting influence on community learning: (i) identify the positive and negative factors in existing and active examples of mass collaboration; (ii) adopt contributions of collaborative networks in terms of structural and behavioral aspects; and (iii) establish adequate learning assessment indicators and metrics. The model is used for a case study in which vocational education and training meet the needs of collaborative education–enterprise approaches. Initially, the validation of the model is verified by the partners and stakeholders of a particular project in the area of education–enterprises relations to ensure that it is sufficiently appropriate for applications in a digital platform developed by such projects. The three first steps of (the proposed) applicability evaluation (adequacy, feasibility, and effectiveness) are then performed. The positive results gained from model validation and its applicability evaluation in this project indicate that not only is the model fairly adequate, feasible, and effective for applications in the developed digital platform but also that it has a high potential for utilization in supporting and directing the creation, implementation, and operation of mass collaborative learning initiatives. Although the validation was carried out in the context of a single project, in fact, it was based on a large “focus group” of experts involved in this international initiative, which is in accordance with the Design Science Research method. Thus, this article reflects a kind of applied research of a socio-technical nature, aiming to find guidelines and practical solutions to the specific issues, problems, and concerns of mass collaborative learning initiatives.

This study was divided in two phases with the following goals: the first one focused on the description of the professional counselor profile, and the second one was dedicated to the identification of contents that need to be included in the specialized training in professional counseling. To carry out this research, we have applied a mixed methodology (quantitative and qualitative), and the data gathering was based on different types of data sources: an online questionnaire, personal interviews, review of specialized documents, and information from diverse audiences. The validation of the online questionnaire was developed through consultation with key informants. The samples selected for both phases was incidental and the statistical analysis were mainly quantitative and descriptive. From the results derived, we stand out the following: a) the recognition, need and demand of quality career guidance, b) the identification of key competencies for the professional counselor, and c) the consensus on core contents that allow to start with the design of specific postgraduate training. Conclusions in this study reveal the existence of a social interest in formal university training, as well as specialized vocational guidance, agreement on core contents, and the recognition of the contribution of a postgraduate proposal to cover this particular gap in the Spanish University academic offer.

Abstract:
The Knesset recently authorized privatized prisons in Israel. The rationale is primarily economic, based on claims of savings as high as 25%. However various studies contradict each other with regard both to cutting costs and to the efficacy of privatization. Not all agree that quality of life, daily functioning, and the quality of educational and rehabilitative activities are better in privatized than public prisons. The Ministries of Finance and Internal Security decided on privatization for financial reasons without holding a meaningful public debate on the social, value-based and moral aspects. One such question is whether it is appropriate for the state to transfer coercive power over prisoners lacking autonomy to private parties motivated by economic interests who could possibly exploit their power to profit at the expense of the prisoners' living conditions, treatment, training and rehabilitation upon return to the community. The notion of justice will likely suffer when subordinated to private profit motives. The Privatization of Prisons Law in Israel partially discusses these problems by means of various clauses that restrict the possibility of harming prisoners rights and require care, education and rehabilitative activities, in addition to requiring strict supervision over activities in privatized prisons. However, in Israel, public supervision of privatized entities is inadequate. The rigor of the law is seldom invoked with private parties who violate laws or the terms of contracts they themselves have signed. Hence, the effectiveness of supervision is also somewhat suspect. The disadvantages of privatization render its merits questionable when compared with Israel's current public prisons system. Despite extreme overcrowding and substandard facilities in some Israeli prisons, these function reasonably well. There is relatively little violence, and prisoners enjoy care, education, and vocational training. We may conclude that it is preferable to improve facilities in public prisons, expanding them and strengthening their rehabilitative orientation. This can be done by partially privatizing the care, education and rehabilitation components as well as the services and maintenance, while leaving the security and administration in the hands of the Prison Service.

Therefore, it was noted that robotics is an applied science that prepares an automated technical system, is an important technical basis for the development of production, it was revealed that robotics at school is a way of preparing children for modern life, equipped with high – tech equipment, and it was shown that the application of robots in various fields in the life of mankind in the world and the prospects for the development of robotics are high. At the same time, it was shown that having technical creativity opens up a lot of opportunities for the younger generation, and if a child learns to build and master a robot, he will achieve large – scale achievements in adulthood. It is known that the most important task of the modern education system is the formation of educational activities in which students acquire the ability to self-development and selfimprovement, that is, it is obvious that the main goal will be to achieve through the conscious, active assimilation of social experience by students. That is why the teaching of robotics in primary grades contributes to the development of such information culture as the ability of students to carry out subsequent educational activities, as well as the ability to purposefully work and process information, use modern technical means and methods. In this regard, it is written that for the educational activities of the teacher, the connection of theory with the practice of applying the acquired knowledge on the way to turning it into a real product is important. As a result of drawing up a program that meets the objectives of the study, the forms and methods of teaching a «Robotics» course in elementary school were determined. The expected results are also clarified, which: -know the names and ways of connecting the main types of parts, the principles of operation of simple mechanism: the sequence of creating simple models: -the ability to read diagrams; observe discipline when performing work; analyze the model under the guidance of a teacher. Plan the sequence of its manufacture, control the result of practical work on the technological map; work individually, in a group; observe safety rules when working with a designer; be able to classify model details based on; -offer solutions to the problem, know the end result, choose and look for means to achive the goal, make a plan for solving problems, compare expediency in the process of work and be able to correct mistakes.

Abstract:
Purpose This paper aims to examine trends in the content of reporting within 135 UK higher education institutions (HEIs). It explores the extent to which integrated reporting (IR) content elements, reflecting integrated thinking, are disclosed voluntarily and whether HEI-specific features influence the resulting disclosures. Design/methodology/approach Existing IR guidelines given by the International Integrated Reporting Council (IIRC) and the adoption of content analysis have provided the opportunity to examine the trend and extent of IR content elements associated in HEI corporate reports. The evidence was obtained from 405 UK HEI annual reports covering the period 2014-2016. Findings The results indicate a significant increase in the number of IR content elements embedded in HEI annual reports. The HEI-specific characteristics examined, such as the establishment of HEI (before or after 1992), adoption of IR framework and size of HEI, are all significantly and positively associated with IR content elements disclosure. This paper argues that institutional theory, isomorphism and isopraxism are relevant for explaining the changes in the contents of HEI annual reports. The findings also suggest that universities are beginning to adopt an integrated thinking approach to the reporting of their activities. Research limitations/implications The study is based on IR content elements only and could be extended to include the fundamental concepts and basic principles of the IR framework. There are other factors that have a potentially crucial influence on HEI core activities (such as teaching and learning research and internationalisation) which have been omitted from this study. Practical implications The findings will allow policymakers to evaluate the extent to which integrated thinking is taking place and influencing the UK HEI sector in the selection and presentation of information. A further implication of the findings is that an appropriate a sector-wide enforcement and compliance body, for instance, the British Universities Finance Directors Group (BUFDG), may consider developing voluntary IR guidance in a clear, consistent, concise and comparable format. Also, it may pursue regulatory support for this guidance. In doing so, it may monitor the compliance and disclosure levels of appropriate IR requirements. Within such a framework, IR could be used to assist HEIs to make more sustainable choices and allow stakeholders to better understand aspects of HEI performance. Social implications The research has implications for society within and beyond the unique UK HEI sector. Universities are places of advanced thinking and can lead the way for other sectors by demonstrating the potential of integrated thinking to create a cohesive wide-ranging discourse and create engagement among stakeholder groups. Specifically, IR builds on the strong points of accounting, for instance, robust quantitative evidence collecting, relevance, reliability, materiality, comparability and assurability, to explain the sustainability discourse into a “language” logical to HEIs organisational decision makers. Consequently, IR may generate better visibility and knowledge of the financial values of exploiting capitals (financial, intellectual, human, manufactured, social and natural) and offer a multifaceted approach to reassess HEIs organizational performance in various sectors that support the growth of integrated thinking. Originality/value This is the first known study to explore HEI characteristics and link them with the level of voluntary IR content elements disclosed in UK HEIs.

Abstract:
The most important criterion for the advancement of the nation on the whole is the level of its human development, which is based on knowledge as an intellectual component of human capital. An important trend in development of world economy today is the process of intellectualization and formation of a knowledge-based society, in which economic well-being is determined by the high technologies, innovative capabilities and the level of intellectual development of the society. Transition to an innovative model of economic development is gradually taking place. The humanitarian, which is also called the “post-industrial” type of economic development comes to replace the industrial one, the driving force of which is the scientific knowledge, creative and intellectual potential of human resources. According to A. Tofler, the transition from the economy of the workforce to the brain power economy is now occuring, and in the new society information and knowledge are the main factors of production [8]. Some scholars [6] determine education as the most important asset of human capital, which can be considered not only a means of increasing future incomes, but also an ability to create self-generation or self-investing of human capital. This is explained by the fact that being educated, the person by means of using his labor potential multiplies not only the material goods, which are then used to meet the physiological, social and other needs, but also improves his skills, his professional abilities and competence. According to various data, human capital ranges from 50 to 70 percent in the structure of national wealth of developed countries and is steadily increasing. When forecasting the prospects for global development, Deutsche Bank experts point out that investments in human capital – education, training and health – is a crucial factor for the GDP growth [2]. Scientists have shown that the formation of human capital occurs, firstly, through the process of upbringing the individual in the family, then through the mechanism of social interaction and communication, and, finally, through the mechanisms of socialization and professionalization in the appropriate institutional environment (education and culture, information space, production system, educational environment of the educational institution). Consequently, the paradigm of modern higher education should be based on a combination of such important elements: education shoud be comprehensive and have professional orientation; in the process of training one the most important element is forming the cultural level and moral standards of the students; professional training of the future specialist should be done in close connection with practical experience; the state should finance education giving the priority to the scarce areas and specialties thus contributing to the growth of intellectual potential of the nation; the process of education, professional development, self-education should be permanent and this should be realized by both the educators and those who study as it is the vital demand of nowadays [3]. The modern “theory of human capital” [15] represents the direction of economic science, within which the human component of economic systems of various sizes is considered in terms of value and price and can be defined up to three levels: - on a personal level, human capital refers to the knowledge and skills that a person has acquired through education, training, practical experience (while using his innate abilities) and through which he can provide valuable productive services to other people. At this level, human capital can be compared with other kinds of personal ownership (property, money, securities) that generates income, and we call it personal or private human capital; - at the microeconomic level human capital represents the aggregate qualifications and professional abilities of all employees of the enterprise, as well as the achievements of the enterprise in the efficient organization of labor and personnel development. At this level human capital is associated with the production and commercial capital of an enterprise, since profits are derived from the efficient use of all types of capital; - at the macroeconomic level human capital includes accumulated investments in such fields as education, vocational training and retraining, vocational guidance and employment services, health improvement, etc. and is an essential part of the national wealth of the country, thus we call it national human capital [5]. It is important to understand the concept of “educational environment”, which creates conditions for the development of intellectual potential of human resources. Scientists determine different structural components of the educational environment and distinguish: the physical environment, human factors, training programs. Thus, D. Binetska [11] considers the concept of the “educational environment of the university” as a system formation, which is an artificial, specially created socio-cultural surrounding of the subject of learning and includes the content of learning, a variety of methods and teaching techniques that can provide a productive research activity for the student. In modern scientific discourse, some researchers focus on human capital as a source of income, while other scholars treat a human as a person with his psychological, spiritual and moral qualities, and the capital is seen as a complex category: not only as money, but also as a national capital, which includes intangible assets. Human capital is characterized by the following features: it is the assets that a person has in the form of innate qualities: physical, psychological, intellectual, as well as those qualities, abilities that a person acquires during his lifetime (knowledge, skills, motivation), they are the assets that require significant investments; they are those assets that generate income over a period of time. So, educational environment creates conditions for the development of the intellectual potential of human resources, and human ability to produce knowledge embodied in means of production, is considered as intellectual capital.

Abstract:
Learning outcomes This case will help students to understand the following: Develop a basic understanding of competency building processes. Learn about the mentoring process and its application in leadership development. Develop awareness about the methodology for assessment of the effectiveness of training. Case overview/synopsis Dr A. R. K. Pillai founded the Indian Leprosy Foundation in 1970 in response to the national call by late Mrs Indira Gandhi, prime minister of India, to the public-spirited people to take up leprosy eradication. It collaborated with international agencies to reduce leprosy drastically in India from four million, in 1982 to around a hundred thousand cases in 2006. In 2006, the Indian Leprosy Foundation was renamed as Indian Development Foundation (IDF) as the trustees decided to expand the work of IDF in the areas of health, children’s education and women’s empowerment. Dr Narayan Iyer, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of IDF initiated a leadership development intervention called the Students’ leadership programme (SLP) for children in the age group of 12 to 14, from the urban poor households in 2014. It was a structured mentoring programme spanning over three months in collaboration with the schools. It aimed at incubating skills in the areas of leadership, teamwork, personality, behavioural traits and provided career guidance. It had a humble beginning in 2014 with a coverage of 50 students. Initially, IDF welcomed executives from the corporate sector as mentors. As there was a need to rapidly expand the scope of SLP to the other cities of India, IDF tied up with the graduate colleges and invited the students to be the mentors. The other objective behind this move was to create social awareness among the students from more affluent strata of society. IDF was able to dramatically increase the participation of the students through SLP by approximately up to 100,000 by 2020. However, rapid progress threw up multiple challenges. The teachers complained about the non-availability of the students for regular classes to teach the syllabus as the students were busy with SLP. The schools forced IDF to shorten the duration of SLP to two months. Also, many undergraduate mentors were unable to coach the participants due to lack of maturity and found wanting to strike a rapport with them. There was a shortage of corporate executives who volunteered for the mentoring, due to work pressures. Dr Narayan, CEO & National Coordinator and Ms Mallika Ramchandran, the project head of SLP at IDF, were worried about the desired impact of SLP on the participants and its sustainability due to these challenges. So, with the support of Dr Narayan, she initiated a detailed survey to assess the ground-level impact of SLP. The objective was to get clarity about what was working for SLP and what aspects needed to improve, to make the programme more effective. Overall feedback from the survey was very positive. The mothers had seen very positive changes in the participants’ behaviour post-SLP. The teachers had specific concerns about the effectiveness of undergraduate mentors. The need for a refresher course to inculcate ethical behaviour and the inadequacy of the two-month duration of the SLP to reinforce values were highlighted. Respondents also voiced the requirement to build responsible citizenship behaviours among the participants. Mallika was all for preparing a model to further enhance the effectiveness of SLP. Dr Narayan and Mallika embraced the challenge and they were raring to go to develop SLP as a cutting-edge leadership programme and to take it to new heights. Complexity academic level This case can be used in courses on human resource management in postgraduate and graduate management programmes. It can also be used in the general and development management courses and during executive education programmes to teach methodologies for evaluating the effectiveness of the training interventions, with emphasis on the voluntary sector. Supplementary materials Teaching notes are available for educators only. Subject code CSS 6: Human Resource Management.

Abstract:
Background Fundamental changes in the world of work are leaving many workers insecure and uncertain about their future. The situation is aggravated by the Covid-19 pandemic, which has resulted in billions of job losses globally (Bureau of Labor Statistics, 2020). According to the International Labor Organization (ILO, 2020), approximately 1.6 billion people in the informal sector are among those who have lost their jobs. This has led to greater uncertainty in occupational contexts, which have already been unsettled by increasing job changes (Hooley et al., 2020; Kelly, 2020). Work environments are no longer able to ‘hold’ (Winnicott, 1965) workers, leaving them insecure, traumatized, and without any sense of meaning and purpose in their work-lives. Numerous changes in the workplace (largely the effect of technological advances) have compelled workers to reconsider, reconstruct, and redesign their lives to improve their chances of finding sustainable, decent work (Di Fabio & Maree, 2016; Duarte & Cardoso, 2015; Guichard, 2018; Hartung, 2016, 2018, 2019; Ribeiro, 2016; Rossier, 2015a, 2015b; Savickas, 2007, 2019; Savickas & Savickas, 2020; UN, 2016). Workers have to contend with major occupational transitions (Savickas et al., 2009) requiring career counseling theorists, practitioners, researchers, and policy-makers to reconsider their theoretical and conceptual approaches and, accordingly, the practice of career counselling as a whole (Savickas et al. 2009). It serves no purpose to continue drawing on career counseling approaches and traditions that have lost their currency in today’s postmodern occupational world (Savickas & Savickas, 2019). What is needed is innovating and updating career counseling so that it can help people link career choices to a mission (personal meaning in the workplace) and a vision (social meaning of people’s work). Above all, people must be guided and counseled on which skills to master to increase their adaptability and employability (Hartung & Cadaret, 2017). This will then enable them to manage repeated work-related transitions more successfully (Sensoy-Briddick & Briddick, 2017). In summary: Career counseling clearly needs to come up with a practicable, theory-driven way of promoting career counseling in primary, secondary, and tertiary education – an approach that can serve as “a general rubric that covers a myriad of interventions and services” (Savickas, 2015, p. 129). At the heart of such an approach is the elicitation and implementation of ‘subjective’ aspects (‘stories’) as well as ‘objective’ aspects (‘scores’) of career counseling in education (Maree, 2013, 2020; Savickas, 2019). An approach that can encourage workers and prospective workers to choose and construct careers and design themselves successfully (Guichard, 2005, 2009; Savickas, 2019, 2020). It should also provide a platform for reconceptualizing and redesigning career counseling interventions to meet the challenges discussed above. Such an approach will enhance people’s (critical) self-reflection, reflexivity (meta-reflection), embracement of change, and conversion of aspiring intention into experienced action (moving forward) (Maree, 2020; Savickas, 2019, 2020; Savickas, 2020, in Arthur, 2020). Ultimately, it should help all people who are willing and able to work to acquire work-life identities that will enable them to recognize and use the opportunities contained in challenges to survive and flourish in these unstable times (Savickas, 2007; Savickas, 2020, in Arthur, 2020). Typical research questions could include the following: How can career counseling in education help worker-seekers take responsibility for their own future, become resourceful and adaptable, and manage repeated transitions in a rapidly changing world of work? be updated in terms of theory and praxis to promote decent work and sustainable development for all who are able and willing to work? be reconfigured to promote success in the workplace by increasing workers’ adaptability, employability, and career resilience? be used to help prospective workers clarify their career(-life) identity, make the most of change, and promote self-reflection, reflexivity, and life design? be provided in group contexts to promote people’s sense of meaning, rekindle their sense of purpose in the workplace, and foster their sense of critical consciousness (Blustein, 2015)? We (the editorial board) received several provocative and constructive contributions that covered a broad spectrum of research methodologies. They also covered theoretical as well as practical issues and reported on research from a quantitative, a qualitative, a mixed-methods, and an integrative qualitative-quantitative perspective. As always, this issue includes diverse contributions in terms of gender and race and national, international, and interdisciplinary standpoints. Individually and collectively the contributions shed light on issues underlying the renewal of career counseling in education. What Can Readers Expect in This Issue? In the leading article, Using My Career Story to foster reflective capacity, hope, and narrative change, Santilli and Hartung (2022) describe the development and use of the My Career Story (MCS) approach. This self-guided autobiographical workbook is designed to help people across the lifespan and diversity continuum articulate and shape their career-life stories. The authors discuss the outcomes of a research project where the MCS was used with young adults in Northern Italy. The findings confirmed the trustworthiness and validity of the instrument in their research context. The research participants had moved towards more action-oriented, more positive, and more lucid language in their stories by the time they had reached the end of the intervention and once they had constructed their life portraits (compared to the stories they had recounted at the outset of the intervention). The participants also achieved better scores on measures used to assess reflective capacity and hope after the intervention. The need for an approach such as that discussed in the article has never been greater – readers working in the fields of career guidance, career education, and career counseling should find the article of great value. In the second article, Countering master narratives with narratives of persistence: A liberation perspective in career counseling, Briddick and Briddick (2022) deal with a highly topical matter. The authors argue that many youths today have to contend with discrimination and marginalization in their daily lives, despite global efforts to eliminate such evils in society. Discrimination here is often based on youths’ (social) identities and related power systems and subjugation (Brewster & Molina, 2021). The authors add that minoritized youths especially are caught in the trap of culturally contrived ‘master narratives’ that maintain the privilege systems in their own countries (Liu, 2017). The authors maintain that reflecting carefully on such ‘master narratives’ can facilitate a key initial step in career counselling interventions with marginalized youths. The authors advocate an innovative and practicable strategy based on narrative counselling and related constructs aimed at disassembling ‘master narratives’ and providing space for the construction and enactment of ‘alternative’ stories of hope and purpose-filled futures for marginalized youths. This article, too, is a ‘must read’ for all career counsellors. In the third article, Life design group-based intervention fostering vocational identity, career adaptability, and career decision-making self-efficacy, Cardoso et al. (2022) examine the process and outcome of life design group intervention with Grade 9 participants. Using a quasi-experimental, mixed-methods design, the researchers investigate the effect of the intervention on the participants’ vocational identity, career adaptability, and career decision-making self-efficacy. The outcomes confirm the effectiveness of the intervention in respect of the above features as well as in advancing the participants’ reflexivity, their sense of direction and, ultimately, the construction of their careers and themselves. The research outcomes are consistent with previous findings on the topic. Researchers involved in this kind of intervention should find the article most illuminating. In the fourth article, Revitalising career counseling for sustainable decent work and decent lives: From personality traits to life project reflexivity for well-being, Di Fabio et al. (2022) maintain that people are increasingly being confronted with critical life and professional challenges and having to take personal responsibility for their career-life stories. The authors argue that to remain relevant career counseling requires revitalized views on counseling interventions. The authors administered the Big Five Questionnaire, the Life Project Reflexivity Scale, and measures of hedonic and eudaimonic wellbeing to University of Florence students. They then analyzed the research results by considering the relationship between life project reflexivity (LPR) dimensions and wellbeing (while controlling for the ‘Big Five’ personality traits). ‘Authenticity’ emerged as the strongest of the three LPR dimensions. The authors conclude by advocating an innovative, strengths-based prevention strategy for providing sustainable decent work and constructing meaningful life trajectories. A study well worth considering in the context of rapidly changing work and career counseling contexts In the penultimate article, Precariousness in the time of COVID-19: a turning point for reforming and reorganizing career counselling for vulnerable workers, Di Fabio and Svicher (2022) propose innovative career counseling approaches for vulnerable workers during the COVID-19 pandemic based on a recently developed work precarity framework consisting of three broad ‘work’ categories: precarity of work (fear and concern associated with employment continuity), precarity at work (psychosocial or physical insecurity at work), and precarity from work (uncertainty and insecurity due to work that does not satisfy the basic needs of workers). Recommendations for mitigating the impact of the pandemic relate to the psychology of sustainability, the psychology of sustainable development, and the psychology of working theory. In conclusion, the authors argue that vocational psychologists need to modernize specific career counseling practices in order to (1) support vulnerable workers in their search for sustainable, decent work and (2) promote inclusivity in occupational contexts. In the concluding article, Enhancing group self- and career construction counselling: A review of outcome research, Maree (2022) reviews the outcomes of five purposely selected group-based career counseling projects conducted in developing country contexts. Using thematic data analysis, the author examined the outcomes of these projects in order to identify the strengths as well as the areas for development (weaknesses) of the career counseling approach followed in the five projects. The findings demonstrated the value of contextualized career construction in contexts substantially different from the context in which the career construction counseling was originally developed. The author concludes that in the light of the current situation (including the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on employment), research on the unemployed should be prioritized. In conclusion, I thank all colleagues involved in the editorial and publishing process for their help and guidance. I especially thank Professor Hüseyin Uzunboylu (editor-in-chief) for his professional support in putting this issue together. Last, but certainly not least, I thank all our reviewers for their selfless and expert help. We hope readers will enjoy reading this special issue of the CJES.

Abstract:
The aim of the study is to examine the factors influencing Vocational guidance of self-definition as a measure of specialists competence level via document analysis as a qualitative research method. In order to determine the factors of Vocational guidance that influences self-definition as a specialist’s competence, we first compiled Vocational guidance perspectives on self-definition in three categories: as a phenomenon of public consciousness, as a problem of self-determining personality and as a psychological and pedagogical practice. The results showed that these factors are classified into two groups of external factors and internal factor. Internal harmonization was primarily aimed at reconciling different views between representatives of this aspect and external harmonization was aimed at convergence of people’s positions representing different aspects. In conclusion, scientists and practitioners simply have to work, on the whole, and contribute to the development of human and labor resources at the level of the whole society, and help concrete people to find a worthy place in the economical and social life of the country.

"P50 Addressing the vocational development of young people with long-term health conditions in health care settings: a systematic review and mixed methods synthesis." Abstract:
Abstract Introduction/Background Long term health conditions (LTHC) such as rheumatic conditions have significant impact on the biopsychosocial development of young people (YP) including vocational development. Educational transitions are prominent during adolescence and young adulthood yet not all transitional care programmes in rheumatology address this area [1]. The aim of this study was to identify and synthesise the benefits and experiences of addressing the vocational development of YP with LTHC in health care settings. Description/Method A mixed methods synthesis approach [2] was employed. We systematically searched 10 bibliographic databases. Restrictions were applied on publication date (1996-2020) and publication language (English). Articles reporting quantitative and/or qualitative primary research on addressing vocational needs/issues of YP with LTHC in health care settings were included. YP was defined as 10-24 years [3]. Two reviewers independently screened records using predetermined inclusion/exclusion criteria [4]. Quality appraisal was undertaken following study selection. Qualitative data were synthesised thematically. Quantitative data were synthesised narratively, given that a pooled synthesis was not considered appropriate. A cross-study synthesis integrated findings from both the qualitative and quantitative syntheses. Discussion/Results 43 articles were included. The quality of qualitative evidence was good; however, the quality of quantitative evidence was poor. The thematic synthesis of stakeholders’ perspectives (n = 23 qualitative studies) resulted in seven recommendations for interventions: provide skills training; provide psychological support; offer to liaise with key stakeholders in educational/workplace settings; provide specialist career advice; provide information, signposting and facilitate access to supporting services; provide/facilitate access to social support; provide flexible care and optimal disease management to support education/employment transitions. The narrative synthesis summarised the results of 17 interventions. The cross-study synthesis mapped interventions against the set of recommendations arising from stakeholders’ perspectives: four interventions met five recommendations; two interventions met four recommendations; five interventions met three recommendations; six interventions met two recommendations. Transitional care interventions were the type of intervention that most comprehensively met the recommendations. The way in which interventions addressed vocational issues was not always clear, with some interventions addressing them directly and others indirectly. No interventions had vocational issues as the core, defining component of the intervention. Key learning points/Conclusion Existing stakeholder evidence highlights that vocational development is an important area to address in the care of YP with LTHC such as rheumatic diseases. The resulting set of recommendations provides guidance for future research in this area and transitional care developments in rheumatology. Further work in this area should address these aspects to enable better quality evidence and ensure consistency. References [1] Clemente D et al. Pediatr Rheumatol Online J. 2017 Jun 9;15(1):49.
