Full textThe quality of air is right in the centre of population concerns in terms of health and environment. Motorized traffic is one of the main production sources of anthropogenic origin of atmospheric pollution. To reduce health and environmental impact different regulations were set up (Euro norms, biodiesel blending). To answer these norms the constructors developed different strategies and notably some post-treatment systems among which we can name the Diesel particle filter. However this filter is progressively going to become obstructed, it is necessary to clean it by the soot combustion : it's the regeneration. Therefore, our work consisted in developing a biological tool for assessing in regulation cycle (NEDC) the toxicological impact of Diesel and particularly the impact of regeneration but also the of a biodiesel. Our experiments accomplished on Diesel exhaust of an approved Diesel and a biodiesel in presence with or without regeneration did not allow to notice difference of the pollutant level : regulated and not regulated pollutants. However the biological answer varies according to used Diesel and with or without regeneration of Diesel particulate filter. Approved Diesel exhausts induce a restricted toxic impact while biodiesel leads to a moderate oxidative stress. The presence of regeneration does not change the answer with approved combustible while biodiesel we noticed a major oxidative stress as well as a loss of viability. In vivo, with biodiesel in presence or not of regeneration anti-oxidizing defences allowed to compensate attacks, it was not noticed difference of answers in presence or not of regeneration. To conclude, we developed a discriminating tool able of assessing the biological impact of Diesel exhaust in regulation cycle. Our results show that the only one measure of regulated pollutants do not allow to understand completely the health impact of complex atmosphere
Sifi, Mohcine. "Diagnostic à base de modèles non linéaires. : Application au circuit carburant d'une turbomachine." Thesis, Bordeaux, 2015. http://www.theses.fr/2015BORD0054/document.
Full textThe current gas turbine regulation systems are based on complex architectures that manufacturers tend to make more modular with more cost effective technologies while ensuring a greater or equal level of reliability. In this context, the fuel system health monitoring, which aims to identify critical hydraulic components dysfunction, allows to reduce maintenance costs, to improve maintainability level and to ensure gas turbine availability. The present study focuses on the development of performant and robust diagnosis methods for the detection and isolation of faults affecting primary fuel system hydraulic functions. Existing nonlinear model based residual generation methods are presented and applied to the fuel system. The analytical approach for decoupling, combined with extended Kalman filters, helps fault isolation by generating residual structures. A new approach based on differential flatness theory is proposed for nonlinear systems fault diagnosis with an application to the fuel system. Sliding mode differentiators are used to estimate derived signals that are necessary for the application of some residual generation methods. Numerical simulations illustrate the efficiency of obtained results. An experimental application is presented using a real data set from a partial test bench provided by Turbomeca company of the SAFRAN group

Full textThe additivation of diesel fuels allows operating engines at low temperatures without filter blocking and thus fulfilling legal requirements. Ethylene based copolymers such as ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymers, made by free radical polymerization at high pressure (above 2000 bars) and high temperature (above 200 °C) are frequently used as middle distillate cold flow improvers (MDFI). A new free radical copolymerization process of ethylene and vinyl acetate in organic solvent media has been developed. This process gives access to polymers close to commercial MDFI additives under tremendous less drastic conditions (under 250 bars of ethylene and 70 °C). Thanks to this process, a wide diversity (variation of the nature of the polar unit, of polymer architecture…) of ethylene based polymers was obtained. Moreover, EVA model copolymers have been synthesized by metathesis. Thanks to these numerous and diverse ethylene based polymers combined with thermal analysis and X-ray scattering studies a better understanding of the operating mode of these additives in a diesel fuel has been achieved. The structural characteristics of the polymers enabling their effectiveness as diesel fuel cold flow improvers have also been established

Full textThe reduction of pollutant emissions of aeronautical devices requires to optimize the design of the injection systems in the combustion chamber. The objective of this work is to improve the understandingof the flow dynamics in swirl stabilized burners. Large Eddy Simulation has become a major tool for the analysis of such flows. The steady increase in computational power enables to perform high-fidelity simulations, that generates a large amount of data, making it difficult to extract relevant information regarding the large scale phenomena. To this aim, massively parallel post-processing methods, suited for complex geometries, were developed in order to extract large-scale structures in turbulent flows. These methods were applied to simulations of spray flames in swirl burners, to get a better insight of how the large scale structures interact with the flame topology and the spray dynamics

Full textWith the increasing fuel prices and the increasing greenhouse gases, fuel consumption is become an essential criterion in car design. The purpose of this work is to describe a vehicle from an energetic point of view and to reduce the fuel consumption during cold start. The first part of the document analyzes the vehicle life situations, describes the vehicle energetic fluxes and shows the main influence of oil temperature during cold start on fuel consumption. In the second part this main influence is shown with a serie of tests on a test bench. In the third part a model is build which can simulate the engine temperature rise and its fuel consumption during this phase. In a fourth part this model is used to evaluate the efficacity of different technologic solutions. The most promising one is further studied and dimensioned to be tested on vehicle
