Abstract:
This bibliography contains contributions written in non-Scandinavian languages in Norwegian legal festschriften 1870–1993. For this period I have registered 69 legal festschriften. Thirteen contain contributions in non-Scandinavian languages. These thirteen festschriften are listed first alphabetically, then the articles - systematically and alphabetically – with reference to the festschrift (e.g. «Castberg (1963)» refers to «Festskrift til Frede Castberg…»). Some articles are listed twice (some even three times) in the systematical list. Articles with two or three authors can be found under each author's name in the alphabetical list.

Abstract:
Continuity and Change in Canadian Politics: Essays in Honour of David E. Smith, Hans J. Michelmann and Cristine de Clercy, eds., Toronto: University of Toronto Press, 2006, pp. 273.Festschrifts pose tricky problems for editors, publishers and reviewers. Editors have to confront the sensitive issue of whom to ask to contribute, how to nudge tardy contributors along and whether the honoree will be pleased with the result. Such collections are seldom thematically coherent enough to guarantee large sales, which is an issue for publishers facing bottom-line calculations. Reviewers have to critically appraise essays on which they are often not experts and they have to remember the occasion for putting those essays between covers. Despite these problems the genre persists, partly on the basis of tradition but also out of the genuine desire to honour colleagues who have been outstanding scholars and “citizens” in their professional fields.

Abstract:
This article sets out to celebrate the lifetimes of John Mararo Gachoki (1948-2021), an educationist turned cleric and scholar. As a scholar, he employed oral techniques in theo-socio-scholarly discourses, and stands out as a narrating public theologian. Mararo-Gachoki who died after a motor accident on Monday evening, 3 May 2021, was a fine scholar with at least four major publications. In these publications, the article argues, he appealed to the power of memory in his socio-scholarly works. With oral history methods coming in form of autobiographies, biographies, festschrifts, memoirs, novels playbooks, satire, caricature, mimicry, oral speeches, and in literary works that mock certain unpleasant communal realities, Mararo-Gachoki’s publications are a clear demonstration that modern scholarship has to factor on oral discourses. In its methodology, this article analyses critical materials that are relevant in reconstructing the memory of Mararo-Gachoki, as we focus on his pet theme: Walk the talk. In our socio-scholarly world, how can we demonstrate the challenge of walking the talk? How did Mararo-Gachoki walk the talk, in his service to God and humanity, and how does it inform the twenty-first century? What vital lessons can we draw from his lifetimes?

Abstract:
Not every worthy scholar receives a Festschrift (literally: a celebratory book); circumstances can delay or prevent its appearance. And not every Festschrift lives up to expectation: Such collections can range from clutches of articles that were rejected from journals to sets of articles that mostly rehash the author’s own work, a sort of “mirror,” or “selfie” Festschrift. Happily, this impressive Festschrift lives up to its name and to the occasion. Ellen Winner is a major scholar—arguably, the major scholar—in the experimental psychology and the developmental psychology of the arts. And in these pages, ably edited by her talented proteges Thalia Goldstein and Jennifer Drake, several other leading conceptualizers, experimentalists, and educators (and some writers are all three!) offer both tributes to Ellen and significant contributions in their own right.

Loos, Helmut. "Robert Schumann und die Öffentlichkeit: Hans Joachim Köhler zum 70. Geburtstag." Gudrun Schröder, 2007. https://ul.qucosa.de/id/qucosa%3A20971.

Full text
Abstract:
Jahrhundert.

Full text
Abstract:
Professor Leslie R. Marchant was a Western Australian historian of international renown. Richly educated as a child in political philosophy and critical reason, Marchant’s understandings of western political philosophies were deepened in World War Two when serving with an international crew of the merchant navy. After the war’s end, Marchant was appointed as a Protector of Aborigines in Western Australia’s Depart of Native Affairs. His passionate belief in Enlightenment ideals, including the equality of all people, was challenged by his experiences as a Protector. Leaving that role, he commenced his studies at The University of Western Australia where, in 1952, his Honours thesis made an early case that genocide had been committed in the administration of Aboriginal people in Western Australia. In the years that followed, Marchant became an early researcher of modern China and its relationship with the West, and won respect for his archival research of French maritime history in the Asia-Pacific. This work, including the publication of France Australe in 1982, was later recognised with the award of a French knighthood, the Chevalier d’Ordre National du Mèrite, and his election as a fellow to the Royal Geographical Society. In this festschrift, scholars from The University of Notre Dame Australia appraise Marchant’s work in such areas as Aboriginal history and policy, Westminster traditions, political philosophy, Australia and China and French maritime history.
