Abstract:
The genus Ceracris Walker, 1870 is a median genus in Arcypteridae, which contains 23 species in the world, among them 11 species distributed in China [Walker, 1870; Bolivar, 1914; Uvarov, 1931; Zheng, 1977; Liu, 1981; Zheng, 1983; Yin, 1984; Liang, 1988; Wang, 1992; Liu et Li, 1995; Ou et al, 1995; Yin et al, 1996; Zheng et Xia, 1998; Zhang et al, 2017; Feng et al, 2018; Cigliano, 2018]. A new species of the genus from Hainan, China is described in this paper. The new species i.e. Ceracris amplicornis sp. nov. is similar to Ceracris versicolor (Brunner von Wattenwyl, 1893), but differs from latter by antennae short, length of a segment in the middle 2.9 times its width; lateral carinae of pronotum not intact and indistinct in metazona; median area of tegmen without intercalary vein; bridge of epiphallus straight and tegmen of female short, reaching the end of hind femur only. Type specimens are deposited in the Natural Museum of Hebei University, Baoding, Hebei, China.

Abstract:
Abstract This article examines the emaciated self-images of four women’s self-inscription poems on their own portraits. They are Huang Hong (early seventeenth century), Xi Peilan (1760–after 1829), Tan Yinmei (fl. mid-eighteenth to early nineteenth century) and Zheng Lansun (1819-61). These women similarly describe their self-images as qiaocui (emaciated), alluding to the legendary girl poet Feng Xiaoqing. Inherently ambivalent, qiaocui could imply sexual and erotic appeal, the virtuous mind of a recluse, sickness, ordinariness, melancholy, as well as aging and death. The article argues for the importance of the rhetoric of qiaocui and the topoi of Feng Xiaoqing in the self-inscriptions by women in Hangzhou and the broader Jiangnan region as a medium to construct their female subjectivity. This article suggests that, initially a persona publicly circulated in the late Ming, the topoi of Feng Xiaoqing came to define the women’s personhood in private spaces in late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries.

Abstract:
Tagore is a distinguished Indian writer and poet, and his works have never lost popularity around the world. Published in 1916, Stray Birds is one of the earliest translated poetry collections in China, of which the version translated by Zheng Zhenduo is highly regarded. However, Chinese poet Feng Tang translated Stray Birds in 2015 and his version soon became the subject of heated discussions among translation field and academic world due to his unique style and bold diction. Based on Lefevere’s manipulation theory, this essay offers an analysis of Feng Tang’s translation of Stray Birds, analyzing the influence of the manipulative factors, namely ideology, poetics and patronage on Feng’s translation methods and strategies. At present, most criticisms of Feng Tang’s translation focus mainly on translation theories and linguistic factors. From the perspective of manipulation theory, the study on Feng’s translation will not only provide new methods and ideas for the appreciation and translation of poetry, but also add more radiance on Stray Birds.

The wave force dose not considered at the formula of mooring ship cable force in the Load Code for Harbor Engineering[JTJ215-98]. This brought the inconvenience to the calculation of designed cable force for mooring ship. By means of analysis for the laboratory model test result of mooring ship cable force under wave effect, Wave force formula of mooring ship under wave effect was gained. This formula well reflected the influence of ship size, ship load , ship rolling period, ship pitch period, wave period and wave height. The formula can be used in the calculation of standard value of mooring ship cable force under the wave effection, also it can be used to instruct the wave model test for mooring ship. Abstract:
There have been growing concerns in recent years about the status of English in China, the most populous country that boasts the largest number of English speakers and learners (Bolton & Graddol, 2012; Wang, 2015). Such concerns are closely associated with the rising importance of the Chinese language worldwide, which seems to signal that ‘English is no longer so important’ (Wei & Feng, 2015: 59). The Chinese government has become much more active in promoting Chinese as an international language through the establishment of Confucius Institutes worldwide. The concerns about the status of English have also been related to the growing assertiveness of China's nationalism. In September 2013, a former spokesman of the Ministry of Education appealed to the public to emancipate children from English and save the Chinese language (Zheng, 2014). In October 2013, the Beijing Municipal Commission of Education announced that the weighting of the English section in the Beijing version of Gaokao, the national university matriculation examination, would be reduced to 100 from 150, starting from 2016. In the meantime, the weighting of Chinese will be increased to 180 (Wei & Feng, 2015). In March 2016, the Beijing Education Examination Authority finalized the decision and set the weighting of Chinese and English in Gaokao to 150 in 2016 (Beijing Education Examination Authority, 2016). In addition to Gaokao, critics have openly challenged whether satisfactory College English Test (CET®) results should be used as a prerequisite for degree conferment in many Chinese universities (Xie, 2014).

Abstract:
This chapter studies Zhang Liansheng's petition, which laid out Paolian's complaints about its persecution at the hands of the People's Armed Department (PAD). Zhang coordinated with the other petitioners from Feng County, several of whom were from rural communes, to collect information about the crackdowns and the violations of central policy in the recent campaigns. As these events were taking place, shifts in Jiangsu's political situation created more favorable circumstances for the petitioners' cause, while threatening to weaken Shao Wen's position back in the county. The shift in Jiangsu's political tides, which favored the petitioners' cause and ultimately the Paolian faction, had the seemingly paradoxical effect of sharpening local conflicts and reviving the factional animosities between Liansi and Paolian. From early June through October of 1974, the conflicts became sharper, and the two sides organized.

Informed by centuries of Daoist, Buddhist, Shinto, and Confucian thought as well as the particularities of Eastern languages and customs, film comedy in China, Korea, and Japan offers fascinating new viewpoints for Westerners. In contrast to the Greek distinction between comedy and tragedy, laughter in East Asia tends to be allied with equilibrium, an integral part of a balanced state and state of mind. This chapter highlights major figures and trends associated with humor in Japan (Yasujiro Ozu, Juzo Itami, Toshiro Mifune), Korea (Jee-won Kim, Sang-jin Kim), Hong Kong (Jackie Chan, Stephen Chow), Taiwan (Chun Han Wang, Ang Lee), and the People’s Republic of China (Zhang Yimou, Xiaogang Feng).

Abstract:
This chapter addresses how the authority of Shao Wen and the People's Armed Department (PAD) was consolidated by the end of 1971. Paolian members, and their supporters among the Feng County's cadres, became targets for further persecution. During this period of extreme political disruption, a series of political suppression campaigns were waged across China in order to consolidate political order. These began shortly after the establishment of city and county revolutionary committees. The first such campaign was known in almost all regions as the “Cleansing of the Class Ranks.” Two campaigns followed in subsequent years: the “One Strike, Three Anti” campaign in February of 1970, and the “Investigation of May 16 Elements” in April of 1971. These campaigns were instruments in a prolonged effort to re-create stable social and political order in localities that were deeply disrupted by factional conflict. The chapter then considers Zhang Liansheng's notebooks, which illustrate the way that these suppression campaigns were turned against Paolian.

Abstract:
This chapter presents cinematic Chongqing as a space of literal stratification of high and low spaces, with characters appropriating distinct urban spaces that correspond to their stratified social classes. Providing the geographical, historical and social background of changing cinematic images of the city over half a century, this chapter explains the reasons why the city has been continuously captured and represented as a mundane and vernacular place. This is explicitly shown in the black comedy Crazy Stone [Feng kuang de shitou] (Ning Hao, 2006), which displays Chongqing as a melting pot characterised by immigrants, dialects and the lack of cultural originality and moral values. This chapter then argues that cinematic Chongqing reflects the city’s power to create disorientation, anxiety and social discontent owing to an increasingly complicated and unevenly developed technocratic society where great changes of identity, subjectivity and social class are underway. The second analysis is of the psychological horror Curiosity Kills the Cat [Haoqi haisi mao] (Zhang Yibai, 2006), and it explores urban spaces pervaded by desire, infidelity and class stratification. In addition, tragic consequences ensue when film characters transgress such stratified spaces, which sheds light on the wide disparity between social classes in reality.

Abstract:
Although they have historically played a relatively lesser role in organic synthesis, the appearance of a number of interesting methods that utilize C–C bond cleavage has prompted coverage in this chapter. Christopher W. Bielawski at the University of Texas at Austin found (Chem. Sci. 2012, 3, 2986) that the diamidocarbene 1 inserted into the C(O)–C(O) bond of dione 2 to produce 3 at room temperature. The use of oxalate monoester 5 for the decarboxylative cross-coupling with pyridine 4 to produce 6 was reported (Tetrahedron Lett. 2012, 53, 5796) by Yi-Si Feng at Hefei University of Technology. The team of Junichiro Yamaguchi and Kenichiro Itami at Nagoya University developed (J. Am. Chem. Soc. 2012, 134, 13573) a decarbonylative C–H coupling method that allowed for the merger of oxazoles 7 and 8 to form 9, an intermediate on the way to muscoride A. The decarboxylative alkenylation of alcohols, such as in the conversion of 10 and n-propanol to alcohol 11, was reported (Chem. Sci. 2012, 3, 2853) by Zhong-Quan Liu at Lanzhou University. Guangbin Dong at the University of Texas at Austin reported (J. Am. Chem. Soc. 2013, 134, 20005) a rhodium-catalyzed C–C bond activation strategy for the enantioselective conversion of benzocyclobutenone 12 to tricycle 13. Rhodium catalysis was also employed (J. Am. Chem. Soc. 2012, 134, 17502) by Masahiro Murakami at Kyoto University in the ring expansion of benzocyclobutenol 14 to form 15, the regioselectivity of which is opposite to that of the thermal reaction. The tandem semipinacol-type migration/aldol reaction of cyclohexenone 16 to produce 17 was developed (Org. Lett. 2012, 14, 5114) by Yong-Qiang Tu and Fu-Min Zhang at Lanzhou University. A procedure for the synthesis of complex cyclopentenone 19 by the addition of vinyl Grignard to cyclobutanedione 18 was reported (J. Org. Chem. 2012, 77, 6327) by Teresa Varea at the University of Valencia in Spain. Michael A. Kerr at the University of Western Ontario found (J. Org. Chem. 2012, 77, 6634) that treatment of cyclopropane hemimalonate 20 with azide led to the formation of 21, which can be readily reduced to the corresponding γ-aminobutyric ester.

Abstract:
This chapter illustrates how the local standoff was broken in the last three months of 1974. At a central party work conference in mid-October, Wang Hongwen and Zhang Chunqiao, ranking central leaders associated with the radical group that had supported Mao Zedong in launching the Cultural Revolution, harshly criticized the crackdown against May 16 elements in Jiangsu Province. This was part of their drive to push military officers out of revolutionary committees in the wake of Lin Biao's purge. It was also due to their perception that the crackdowns were part of a military effort to persecute genuine rebel groups who had spearheaded the mass movements that they had sponsored back in 1967. The veteran cadres who now headed Jiangsu immediately relayed these instructions to party committees across the province, because it helped them push out lingering army control over civilian administration. In December of 1974, Shao Wen was transferred far away from Feng County. However, the new county leaders seemed indifferent to Paolian's grievances against Liansi. This is the primary reason why, after these leaders were later attacked by Liansi at the end of 1975 and early 1976, Paolian did not actively defend them. The chapter then looks at the death of Mao and considers the final major campaign to rid leading bodies across China of individuals who had risen into positions as a result of their earlier factional activity.

Abstract:
Shou-Fei Zhu of Nankai University developed (Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. 2014, 53, 13188) an iron catalyst that effected the enantioselective cyclization of 1 to 2. Bypassing diazo precursors, Junliang Zhang of East China Normal University used (Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. 2014, 53, 13751) a gold catalyst to cyclize 3 to 4. Taking advantage of energy transfer from a catalytic Ir complex, Chuo Chen of University of Texas Southwestern carried out (Science 2014, 346, 219) intramolecular 2+2 cycloaddition of 5, leading, after dithiane formation, to the cyclobutane 6. Intramolecular ketene cycloaddition has been limited in scope. Liming Zhang of the University of California Santa Barbara found (Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. 2014, 53, 9572) that intramolecular oxidation of an intermediate Ru vinylidene led to a species that cyclized to the cyclobutanone 8. James D. White of Oregon State University devised (J. Am. Chem. Soc. 2014, 136, 13578) an iron catalyst that mediated the enantioselective Conia-ene cyclization of 9 to 10. Xiaoming Feng of Sichuan University observed (Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. 2014, 53, 11579) that the Ni-catalyzed Claisen rearrangement of 11 proceeded with high diastereo- and enantiocontrol. The relative configuration of the product 12 was not reported. Robert H. Grubbs of Caltech showed (J. Am. Chem. Soc. 2014, 136, 13029) that ring opening cross metathesis of 13 with 14 delivered the Z product 15. Mn(III) cyclization has in the past required a stoichiometric amount of inorganic oxidant. Sangho Koo of Myong Ji University found (Adv. Synth. Catal. 2014, 356, 3059) that by adding a Co co- catalyst, air could serve as the stoichiometric oxidant. Indeed, 16 could be cyclized to 17 using inexpensive Mn(II). Matthias Beller of the Leibniz-Institüt für Katalyse prepared (Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. 2014, 53, 13049) the cyclohexene 20 by coupling the racemic alcohol 18 with the amine 19. Paultheo von Zezschwitz of Philipps-Universität Marburg added (Chem. Commun. 2014, 50, 15897) diethyl zinc in a conjugate sense to 21, then reduced the product to give 22. Depending on the reduction method, either diastereomer of the product could be made dominant. Nuno Maulide of the University of Vienna displaced (Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. 2014, 53, 7068) the racemic chloride 23 with diethyl zinc to give 24 as a single diastereomer.

Abstract:
This paper studies sensing element designs in ancient seismometers and describes the developments of ancient earthquake instruments. A basic seismograph comprises a seismometer, a recording system, and a timing system. The major difficulty in the development of a seismograph was the design of the seismometer. And, the break through was the use of a pendulum system as a sensing element that responded to ground motion and did not move with the ground. Early seismoscopes were primarily intended to determine that an earthquake had happened. The first seismoscope invented by Zhang Heng was Hou Feng Di Dong Yi made in ancient China around the year 132 AD. The truly successful seismographs were first designed and built in the 1880s by a group of British scientists in Japan. In 1906, Boris Galitzin developed a working electromagnetic seismograph with a great sensitivity. Finally, a comparison with the recording systems of ancient seismographs is concluded.

Abstract:
Extending the concept of the morphological frame: a case study of Tangshan old military airport Rongxi Peng, Zijiao Zhang, Yixi Li, Feng Song* College of Urban and Environmental Sciences, Peking University. 100871 Beijing E-mail: pengrongxi@pku.edu.cn, 411148973@qq.com, elaine9565@yeah.net, songfeng@urban.pku.edu.cn*(corresponding author)Telephone Number: +86 132-6990-0350, +86 139-1013-6101* Keywords: China, morphological frame, three-dimensional view, airport Conference topics and scale: Urban form and social use of space/ City transformations/ Stages in territorial configuration The concept of the morphological frame is important in urban morphology, but it has been discussed much less than other critical concepts, such as the fringe belt and the fixation line. Passing its features on as inherited outlines, the morphological frame contains not only the linear fixation line, but also ground plan and three-dimensional aspects. In this research, the linear, ground plan, and three-dimensional morphological frame of Tangshan old military airport during the expansion of the city after the removal of the airport is identified. The former boundary roads of the airport exert obvious influences on the division of plots. The former arterial roads also function as a linear morphological frame. In relation to the ground plan, property rights and plots containing important buildings have an impact on the consequent town plan. The distinct feature of the morphological frame of the airport is its three-dimensional constraint, i.e. the vertical clearance requirement, which restricted the height of surrounding buildings. The impact of this institutional limit can last a very long time owing to the high cost of demolishing the old surrounding buildings or adding extra storeys even if the limit ceased to exist with the removal of the airport. Based on this case study, this paper refines and extends the connotation of the concept of the morphological frame and further discusses the relationship between function and form.
