Abstract:
The research of the control system of automatic feeding machine in the present paper can be applied in different mechanical designs – from simple key-press input of cycling days, multiple time intervals and the feeding amount to setting steps of numbers of stepping motor via the control of SMC by time setting. This not only realizes the objective of “fixed-time” and “fixed-quantity” feeding, but also solves the problems of serious leaking, high failure rate, and loud noises during the process of using warehouse-type feeding machines, which brings favorable economic and social benefits for enterprises.

Abstract:
This study is about the design improvement of an automatic fish feeding machine. The most recent machine has been selected as the point of reference for this research. Realizing the limitation of existing automatic fish feeding machine has inspired the researcher to develop a system which overcomes previous systems’ flaws, hence giving more advantages and benefits to the owner and workers. This research has three main goals: To design and fabricate automatic fish feeding machine; to ensure an accurate amount of fish pellet to be dispersed at a predetermined time, 360° and at specified distance; and to generate electricity by using the solar panel as the power source to make it suitable for outdoor environment of fish farming. We developed a prototype to measure the ability of the new automatic machine concept. These include design improvement, storage capacity, ability and time for a pellet to dispense and the distance of food dispersed. The findings from the research showed that the use of vibration concept and gravity to channel down the fish pellet into the distribution channel has made this new design simpler. Also, the centrifugal force concept to disperse the pellet 360° is a major improvement from the previous design. Three projection angles of 0°, 15° and 30° were studied. Although the current study is based on a small sample, the findings suggest that the projection angle at 15° is the best for the current machine. We conclude that the new fish feeding machine has exceeded the performance of the previous machine in terms of functionality and design. However, with a small sample size, caution must be applied, as the finding might not be transferable to a large-scale fish farm environment. Several possible future studies using the same experiment set up are apparent.

Abstract:
For paper forward unit of the current forward type flute laminating machine, the contact surface of the paper forward unit may damage paper during high speed paper forwarding. In view of this phenomenon, a solution is proposed through the study on the feeding unit of the flute laminating machine. In this paper, the corresponding sprocket driveshaft is controlled by a servo motor to slowly forward paper at the beginning and accelerate its forwarding speed gradually, until the entire feeding process is completed. In this way, the problem of paper pile-up and damages during the paper forwarding process can be solved, while matching backing paper feeding, so as to improve the feeding accuracy of the full-automatic flute laminating machine and hence its laminating accuracy.

Abstract:
This paper is a technical report which discusses a selfdeveloped automatic robot (machine) for glass furnace feeding. It was designed for use in a small-scale glass industry, in which most factories are still feeding small, old fashioned furnaces manually. The huge robot discussed in this paper is intended to substitute for exhausted workers. It was designed with four degrees of freedom and a planar manipulator structure, including X-axis and Y-axis translations, Z-axis rotation, and a belt scrolling motion for feeding the granular glass material into the furnace. The development and implementation of the mechanical and control systems are analyzed, including design considerations, motion using the teaching playback method, and feeding path planning. To ensure system safety and reliability, the necessity and the design of a redundant control systemare presented. Finally, the feeding quantity and quality control are discussed. Unlike other feeding machines, the robot fully utilizes robotic control components and technologies, which is considered another approach to real robotics application.

Abstract:
The purpose of this study is to improve the feeding system of the rob-shape automatic packing machine. Present the rob-shape automatic packing machine all use motor to drive four-bar linkage mechanism to achieve automatic feeding, but this feeding system can cause noise, and the process of the operation requires a greater torque to prevent components stuck in the storage box. So the internal mechanism is susceptible to damage by stress influences, and the adjustment is very complicated when renew the damaged components. Based on this disadvantages, first, we draw the three-dimensional figure of the old rod-shape automatic packaging machine feeding system, and use the finite element analysis method for structural analysis to understand the feeding system defects of old rod-shape automatic packaging machine. Finally, we use the feed system of machine tool to replace the four-link mechanism of the old rod-shape automatic packaging machine feeding system to reducing the noise emitted when materials transport, and decrease the damage of internal mechanism torque in order to avoid the disadvantages of often replace components. Combining sheet-metal working, with the motor, lead screw and linear bearings, then tests action of the improved new feeding system to fulfill the design of system.

Since machine tool which was invented is important of manufacturing. Whether products or other manufacturing equipment are depended on machine tool, so we can say the relationship between manufacturing and machine tool is very close. In reality, the design process including calculation and drawing is very complex. Sometimes there are many problems occur frequently in process, such as design does not match specification, modify drawing and any else. In addition, it is difficult for newcomers. For all these factors and a wide range of design projects so this study just focus on the machine tool feeding system and develop “Intelligent CAD/KBE of Three-Axis Machine Tool Feeding Design System” to solve the machine tool feed axis design problems. Using Knowledge Based Engineering to make design knowledge regularization and import CAD system; constructing links between 3D modeling and 2D drawing by Excel to reach synchronization and reduce errors caused by modify drawing. Using Project Management to manage design information and achieve the reuse of design knowledge. The above combination of design and drafting will be done in the field of machine tools designed to improve the design process in order to reduce the traditional design flow errors caused by human factors, and thus shorten the product development cycle, improve technological innovation.

The core of this research is an innovated design combined the systematic model. In order to satisfy the need of manufactures and companies, the design of this machine is to develop a small lawnmower for polishing an inner wall of the cylinder. To peruse the quality of the product, the key process of this design was mainly focusing on reducing the time development, minimizing the cost, and further decreasing defaults from inexperience to increase the work efficiency. Due to the time limit, the process has been divided into two parts. The first part was the development of the power transmission unit, and this part had been completed. The second part is the major focus of the whole research, and this design concentrates on the development of fixture and feeding mechanism, which the feeding mechanism includes the adjust unit, the rotation unit, the reciprocation of motion unit, and the control unit. The methods of this development are by means of Solidworks and Pro/Engineer to process the development of subsystems of 3D models. Then, using effectively the application of COSMOS to analyze the simulate design for its size, allocation, and variation. Finally, the polished machine has been produced through the self- experienced of fabricating prototype and the mistakes from the numerous experiments. Via testing its function, vibration, and noise, the machine has been verified that it has conformed its objective and standard.

This research aims to integrate the design of Central Yard Feed Mechanisms with Flat Knitting Machine, which uses a power input mechanism, where the clutch plays an important role. The machine weaves by using the clutch to control how yarn enters the machine and by working with yarn guide bars and yarn guides. Compared with the previous designs, the central yard feeding mechanisms for flat knitting machine is devised to increase the competitive advantage in the market through the same weaving action and simpler structure of the machine. In this research, two ideas, both controlled by the clutch, are designed based on different methods of controlling how yarn goes into the machine. The first method uses pawls and ratchets as the major structure of the clutch, and the second method uses the yarn guides and the clutch to control the contact between the block and the clutch. A wide range of patents and references were collected and analyzed to find out the strengths and weaknesses of each design. The function of the current size central yard feed mechanisms for flat knitting machine is improved trough two new and innovative methods. The above two methods were verified through motion simulation and the interference check by CAD software.

The goal of this thesis is to improve the performance of a ready-made automatic feeder. We try to resolve the problems that the feeder cannot provide precise feed weight and cannot control the feeding location. In our approach, the feeding location is determined by a stepper motor controlled by a PID controller. On the other hand, by experiments, we control the feed weight by open-loop control. For reliability, the controller is implemented by a PLC. Key word: automatic feeder, PID controller, feeding, fixed-point feeding

Abstract:
One enduring trait of computing systems is the presence of the human operator. At the human-computer interface, the nature of computing has witnessed dramatic transformations—from feeding punched cards into a reader to manipulating 3D virtual objects with an input glove. The technology at our fingertips today transcends by orders of magnitude that in the behemoth calculators of the 1940s. Yet technology must co-exist with the human interface of the day. Not surprisingly, themes on keeping pace with advances in technology in the human-computer interface and, hopefully, getting ahead, underlie many chapters in this book. The present chapter is no exception. Input devices and interaction techniques are the human operator’s baton. They set, constrain, and elicit a spectrum of actions and responses, and in a large way inject a personality on the entire human-machine system. In this chapter, we will present and explore the major issues in “input,” focusing on devices, their properties and parameters, and the possibilities for exploiting devices in advanced human-computer interfaces. To place input devices in perspective, we illustrate a classical human-factors interpretation of the human-machine interface (e.g., Chapanis, 1965, p. 20). Figure 11-1 simplifies the human and machine to three components each. The internal states of each interact in a closed-loop system through controls and displays (the machine interface) and motor-sensory behaviour (the human interface). The terms “input” and “output” are, by convention, with respect to the machine; so input devices are inputs to the machine controlled or manipulated by human “outputs.” Traditionally human outputs are our limbs—the hands, arms, legs, feet, or head—but speech and eye motions can also act as human output. Some other human output channels are breath and electrical body signals (important for disabled users). Interaction takes place at the interface (dashed line in Figure 11-1) through an output channel—displays stimulating human senses—and the input channel. In the present chapter, we are primarily interested in controls, or input devices; but, by necessity, the other components in Figure 11-1 will to some extent participate in our discussion.

Developing curriculum aligned with employment outcomes often includes linear design. However, students do not cognitively approach their education linearly, and economies do not fluctuate linearly. We should support students' natural non-linear approaches to education and employment. Chat bots that include non-linear presentation of text, short video clips, and images can help us design curricular experiences that mirror and personalize unique student cognition. As students navigate nudges of content within a chat bot on their phone or full-page views in an internet browser, the initial content will catalyze new questions and non-linear thinking for students to then explore their own employment related journeys. This will buttress students to be agents in their learning instead of objects of linear design. Machine learning models feeding chat bot learning journeys and experiences can help improve organic assessment for a constellation of employment preparedness outcomes and connection.

Abstract:
Providing a suitable rehabilitation after an acute episode or a chronic disease helps people to live independently and enhance their quality of life. However, the continuity of care is often interrupted in the transition from hospital to home. Virtual coaches (VCs) could help these patients to engage in personalized home rehabilitation programs. These coaching systems need also to be fed with procedural precepts in order to work as intended. This, in turn, relates both to properly represent the clinical knowledge (as the VC somehow replaces the formal caregivers that cannot be fully present) as well guide the patient correctly (in order to follow the medically desired procedures given the need for personalisation according to individual needs). Therefore, we outline our technical approach to deal with this. In particular, clinical pathways in terms of semi-formal procedure models in combination with machine learning components processing and powerful user interfaces providing these pathway information and feeding the VC are presented. The system is currently under testing in a participatory design phase called Living Lab. Thus, initial user feedback for further improvements is about to come.

Abstract:
The dictionary defines a factor as “something that actively contributes to the production of a result.” A number of factors may be attributed to the creative process and its final product. These factors are purpose, diversity, relationships, imagery, and externalization. The ingredients of creativity seem to be the same for diverse domains, from the arts to the sciences and social studies. The factors of creativity are depicted in Figure 4.1. These parameters refer to the purpose of the project, plus four others identified by diversity, relationships, imagery, and externalization. The second and third factors define the structure of the problem and its solution, while the last two relate to representation issues for generating the solution and expressing it in some form. The creative factors are listed in Table 4.1, along with their defining characteristics and prescriptive implications. The operational implications are described for both the human problem solver, as well as for the computer system that might be developed to assist in this task. For example, imagery relates to the development of ideas through sensory mechanisms, whether in actuality or in conception. The prescriptive implication is to generate a series of images in various formats, whether pictorial, auditory, or tactile. Of these, the most powerful vehicle is the visual image which can simultaneously represent numerous objects and their relationships. The operational implication for a computer-based system is a rich store of icons or pictorial images that may be depicted on color screens using versatile graphic techniques. The problem to be resolved defines the purpose of the creative process. The factor of purpose involves the distillation of a problem into its essential elements. This involves the identification of critical attributes and the elimination of extraneous features. For millennia people had yearned to fly. The existence of birds was proof that flight was possible. Man’s straightforward approach to achieving flight was to imitate aviary shapes and motions, especially wings and their flapping. But birds have functional requirements other than airborne motion, such as feeding, fleeing, and reproduction. It was not until the peripheral activities such as wing-flapping were ignored, that man could design a machine allowing him to attain active flight.

Abstract:
Process planning for parts made on CNC machines is usually performed in sequence and carried out without feeding back information about the fabrication process to the planning stage. Shifting planning capabilities to the machine level enables consideration of direct machine feedback. In this paper a method for feature decomposition and tool path planning for pocket milling on a 3 axis milling machine is presented. Based on standard computerized numerical control (CNC) technology, G-code is transferred to the fabrication machine whereat adaptation of processing parameters can take place within a feature. In order to enable a feedback loop from the processing to the planning stage, subfeature elements are defined. Interrelations between subsequent elements are identified and standardized with regard to the manufacturing needs to realize fully machined features. For each element a tool path is generated and translated into valid G-code. After fabrication of each subfeature element processing parameters can be improved. The presented method is implemented in a prototype software tool based on an open source CAD/CAM/CAE kernel and extends an existing open source CAM software framework.

Abstract:
Abstract A wire nail production machine can be classified as one of the punch press machines. By nature, the production of wire nails involves the development of a series of force impulses which in turn generate various sound pressure levels with different frequencies. Typically, the machine operations generating impact noise include pressing, cutting, ejecting, wire gripping and feeding. The punch pressing is the movement of punch header to press forming the nail head. It produces a large force impulse which in turn generates a high level of impact noise and consequently high levels of ancillary impact noise such as the impact noise by the backlashes. It has been found that this type of impact noise is not necessarily the most annoying one. The impact noise generated by nail ejection, however, has been identified as one of the annoying noise components. The ejector used in a nail machine for executing the movement of nail ejection produces ringing noise at high frequencies when it is struck by the punch header in each cycle of the machine operations. This paper presents the analyses of and experiments on the ejection force impulse and the characteristics of the impact noise generated by nail ejection.

Abstract:
Abstract This study attempts to develop a machine tool to let its cutting function and precision be able to compare with the counterpart of the wire-cut electrical discharge machine, and also can cut non-conducting materials. This machine tool is numerically controlled by a PC-based controller to cut some projected shapes defined on a single axis, dual axes or multiple axes. This machine is to use one diamond wire loop with motion in direction of Z-axis or a certain direction, to attain the function of cutting. The wire could be kept as straight as possible at the cutting zone and not to shift laterally from the feeding direction. Besides, a tension sensor based on CCD cameras is also installed to know the cutting force and reactions of the workpiece against the diamond wire so as to adjust the wire travelling speed and feedrate of the workpiece to cut the corner precisely.

Abstract:
The article points out on new trends in the bending technology, elimination possibilities of defects originating in bending and it deals with designing of forming line for hooks production by bending technology. It was suggested change of previous manner of production and material of produced bearing hooks as well. In previous manner of production the unfinished surface of semi product in form of roll sheet was galvanic zinc coated, it was thereafter sheared on needed length with shearing machine, followed punching in fixture, roll bending by sequence bending by help of fixture. Suggested forming line is dedicated for processing of zinc coated roll strip in automation production cycle. Forming line enables the automation work flow which includes the uncoiling of strip, feeding and leveling of strip, punching of holes and shearing of strip, roll bending of pressed part, repeated feeding of strip by leveler. Forming line consists of two-sided uncoiler without drive, feeding leveler, block of forming tools, rotary roll head. It is possible to set production of hook according to required dimensions, forming line is able to produce several dimensions of hooks with several numbers of holes. The bearing hooks from suggested original zinc coated roll strip have higher surface quality without defects. Production innovation with feeding of automation in comparison to previous manner of production enables savings of four or five workers, increasing number of produced parts per hour, to achieve repeated pressed part precision,, less manual work, increasing operation safety, minimized noise level, reducing of production costs and production of time.
