<span lang="EN-US">This research offers a review of the concept of Walisongo's religious moderation. As for mapping the concept of religious moderation in Walisongo comprehensively, four indicators of moderation of the Ministry of Religion of the Republic of Indonesia are used as an analytical tool, including national commitment, tolerance, anti-violence, and accommodativeness to local culture. This research is descriptive qualitative research using the historical method. Meanwhile, primary data sources were obtained from the book "Atlas Walisongo", and secondary data sources were obtained from several other supporting kinds of literature. Abstract:
The Kalang group is a Javanese sub ethnic with the Kalang tradition which is an acculturation of ancient Javanese culture with Hindu culture coming from India. In everyday life, Kalang women as a mother have a central role in household activities, the role is a manifestation of responsibility to the husband and children. The cultural alculturation still exists in the life of the Kalang in Kendal, Central Java, Indonesia. In tradition, Kalang women have power in her position as a housewife. Power does not mean physical strength that can be used for violence, but the power to demonstrate the ability to think, manage time and control emotions in carrying out three household activities of domestic activity, activity of tradition and social activity. In today's modern era, gender equality is the main issue every time women's issues are talked but the Kalang group places women (mother) in a central position within a family that has gender equality through responsibility and is not judged by the material she obtains. Through a deductive paradigm with ethnographic techniques, we find the meaning of a powerful mother in managing the family. This paper provides an overview of the alchemy that makes women powerful in terms of responsibility. Mother as a family center shows her role as a family pillar that serves to perfect or complement the role of men, cooling family life and keeping the tradition

Abstract:
ABSTRACTChild neglect is one of the most common cases of child abuse in Indonesia, in addition to violence and exploitation. West Java is one of the provinces in Indonesia with a highest percentage of neglected children in Java, namely 1.26% or 22,122 neglected children. This problem needs to be addressed, because it has a number of consequences on children’s development and growth. In order to deal with this problem, it is necessary to protect neglected children through alternative care institutions, namely orphanages. However, orphanages in Indonesia have low quality service system. They function more as institutions that provide services in the form of access to education rather than as institutions that provide the last alternative care for children that supports a family-based care system. This study aims to describe families’ services in the neglected children protection process by the Children's Social Protection Home (CSPH) Ciumbuleuit Bandung City, as an effort to increase the capacity of family care. This research uses qualitative research methods and qualitative descriptive research types, with the number of informants as many as 11 people, consisting of 5 social workers on duty at CSPH Ciumbuleuit Bandung City, and 1 family receiving services from CSPH Ciumbuleuit Bandung City. The results showed that services for families had not been implemented optimally by CSPH Ciumbuleuit Bandung City, starting from the initial approach stage to follow-up. Therefore, the institution needs to reorganize the implementation of the assessment to follow-up stage, as well as develop services for families that are appropriate with the problems and needs of the family.

Abstract:
<p>This research was conducted in Morodemak and Purworejo Villages, Demak District, Central Java Province, Indonesia, by focusing on problems faced by fisherwomen—those who go out to sea as well as those who process fishing catch—and the activism of Puspita Bahari (fisherwomen organization in Demak). This research aims to show that women have contributed to the economic progress of coastal communities. Additionally, this research became a personal project as the researchers had the opportunity to directly observe the activities of fisherwomen who go out to sea. Furthermore, in the research process, the researchers participated in the advocacy process to help fisherwomen gain recognition for the work they do. By using Naila Kabeer’s gender analysis, this research found that the complexity of the problems faced by fisherwomen are truly layered and involve the family, community and market. Division of labor, biased bureaucracy and domestic violence are the three main topics studied in this paper. It’s urgent to recognize fisherwomen, as this recognition would be the first step that must be taken in order to improve the lives of fisherwomen. </p>

Abstract:
The research aimed to document the history and culture of Lasem, thereby increasing the knowledge base of cultural history in Indonesia. The interaction between Javanese and Chinese in Lasem experienced three phases: the Zheng He period, the Yellow War period, and the 20th century. Relations between Javanese and Chinese had been peaceful and harmonious until now. In the middle of the 18th century, there were incidents of violence against ethnic Chinese carried out by the company. This event led to the strengthening of relations between Java and China. The collaboration between the two became a momentous event that the Lasem residents could not forget. Harmonious life in Lasem was not only seen in batik. Still, it was also seen in the daily life of the Lasem people, such as togetherness in celebrations, religious rituals, or family rituals. There were three research questions: What was the process of acculturation in Lasem? What cultural elements underwent acculturation, and what were the results of acculturation? The research applied a qualitative narrative method by collecting data from the literature, interviewing cultural observers, observing, and analyzing. The research discussed the results of acculturation in Lasem in several forms of culture, namely in language, architecture, batik, and rituals. Abstract:
This paper aims to discuss gender issues that still often occur in rural communities in particular, namely the habit of marrying young children by their parents. This habit often contains elements of coercion, child powerlessness, “sexual violence”, and deprives children of their freedom to receive education, channel their aspirations for life, and so on. This paper is the result of research in a number of villages in two provinces in Indonesia, namely: West Java and Banten. The reason for choosing the location is because in this area there are still frequent marriages at a young age, and even tend to be maintained. Data was collected by distributing questionnaires to parents who had married children aged 12 -17 years, supported by field observations, and interviews with parents. local formal and informal community leaders. The results of the study found that early marriage was influenced by various aspects, namely: poor family socio-economic background, low family educational aspirations, pressure from the social environment, and low role of local government. From each of these factors, indicators that provide the strongest contribution are identified, namely: indicators of low income levels, and lack of production capital on socio-economic background factors; indicators of low educational aspirations and the location of school buildings far from their places of residence; indicators of maintaining tradition and religion are not prohibited in terms of the social environment; and consistent indicators of the implementation of compulsory education programs and socialization of maternal-child health incentives. These indicators need to be considered in an effort to overcome the problem of young marriage, find out the causes, and convince the negative impact of young marriage. Abstract:
The existence of domestic workers or better known as domestic workers is no stranger to the life of Indonesian society. Domestic worker is a job that provides services to a family to do homework such as cooking, cleaning house, washing clothes and others. However, because there is no regulation that regulates domestic workers maximally, and there are often different degrees between employers and workers, there is a lot of violence against domestic workers. In 2011, the International Labor Organization issued an ILO Convention No. 189 on Decent Work for Domestic Workers. This Convention as evidence that domestic workers need to be legally protected as human beings with human rights. Based on the result of the research, it can be concluded that the act of ratification of ILO Convention No. 189 of 2011 on Decent Work for Domestic Workers needs to be done, in an effort to increase the protection of domestic workers' rights law, to increase the economy of domestic workers, and to raise the social status of domestic workers Indonesia.

Abstract Partners in this Community Service activity are santri at the Al Hidayah Islamic Boarding School, whose address is Jl. Kp. Cibinong No.12, Kec. Ciomas, Bogor, West Java. This community service activity starts from June 2021 to July 2021 which begins with an audience, a meeting to discuss themes, signing of collaboration and implementing education / counseling. Pesantren as the oldest education in Indonesia is growing rapidly and is big. Its development is not only textual, but also more up-to-date with the times, with the aim of preparing more advanced students or santri, not only experts in the field of religion, but also on governance, which is also encouraged by holding education in Islamic boarding schools. Protection of children has been regulated in law, namely Law No.23 of 2002 concerning Child Protection (PA). The Law has regulated the rights of children, the implementation of the obligations and responsibilities of parents, family, society, government and the state to provide protection for children. The protection referred to, as stated in article 1 paragraph 2 of the CL Law, "Child protection is all activities to guarantee and protect children and their rights so that they can live, grow, develop and participate, optimally in accordance with human dignity, and protection from violence and discrimination. Orphaned children, as one of the children's social problems, need an established person or institution (orphanage or foundation) as a place to shelter and develop into children who will later lead the country. Orphans are included in the group of children who are still dependent on more established people (Dependent Children). In this case, people or institutions (orphanages or foundations) that have been established play an important role in helping orphaned children meet their daily needs. Due to the majority of orphaned students at the Al Hidayah Islamic Boarding School, Bogor, it is important to carry out this legal education and counseling so that students know and understand about legal protection related to the welfare rights of orphaned children who are cared for in the pesantren environment. The output that will be produced in this activity is a report on the results of community service, We will look for the steps in carrying out these activities, so that the method can be applied in other places with the same problem conditions. It is argued that in many places in Indonesia and Central Java, local landscapes have become sites of violent struggles for sovereignty more broadly. An analytical distinction between modern and traditional forms of power is made and ethnographically explored, but it is argued that, rather than being separate entities, both forms become conflated in the struggle for sovereignty in various spheres, creating hybrid forms of power. Abstract:
This study was aimed at uncovering the anomalies in the implementation of the Population, Family Planning and Family Development Program in Central Java province. Qualitative-naturalistic approach was employed. The results of the study about the population and family planning in Central Java Province is showed an alarming rate of TFR (Total Fertility Rate) indicator of 2.3 to 2.5. In addition, the public mind set about the ideal number of children in a family also increased from the TFR indicator of 2.6 to 2.8. This mindset would hinder family planning program. To overcome the anomalies, BKKBN Central Java Province made various strategic efforts. The high rate of CPR (Contraseptive Prevalence Rate) which was not followed by the low rate of TFR was assumed to be related to the active family planning participants were not using long term contraception method, leaving them vulnerable to drop out. Therefore, an increase in long term contraception method, would be a top priority in the population and family planning program in Central Java. In the "anomaly" of having high CPR numbers but low TFR, operational strategy required to be conducted was to increase the Educational, Information, Communication (EIC) Program, especially for the younger generation, because young age marriage was prevalent in those areas.

Abstract:
This study examines sexual exploitation and violence against prostituted children in East Java, Indonesia. Children who are involved in the commercial sex industry are generally prone to become victims of exploitation, violent acts, and other child abuse. This case study employs a qualitative research method to examine the various hardships experienced by prostituted children in East Java, Indonesia. The researchers interviewed ten prostituted children, seven “grey chickens” (female high school students doubling as prostituted children), eight former prostituted children, five pimps, eight procurers, and seven male customers in Surabaya City and Pasuruan Regency. This study found that, in the Indonesian commercial sex industry, prostituted children generally experience severe exploitation and violent acts. The children’s struggle to survive in the Indonesian prostitution business is a challenging condition because of their weak bargaining position: their subordinate status in the Indonesian patriarchal ideology, their weak position as children confronting adults, as well as their low socioeconomic position. The efforts to make policies to prevent exploitation and violence against prostituted children by the government and non-government agencies thus should take into account the conditions of the prostituted children as well as the driving factors for the child prostitution business that takes place in Indonesia.

Ungaran and Mt. Slamet. The observation in the laboratory was done based on the morphological and anatomical feature of the stem, lateral leaf, underleaves (amphigastria) and microphyll. Identification of the species used the existing literature that contains key identification, description or illustration of the Bazzania. Eleven species of Bazzania were identified from Central Java, namely Bazzania calcarata, B. japonica, B. javanica, B. pectinata, B. praerupta, B. serpentina, B. spiralis, B. tridens, B. fauriana, B. perfalcata and B. succulenta. Three new record species, namely B. fauriana, B. perfalcata and B. succulenta are reported for Java. This result is the first report of Bazzania in part of Central Java

Abstract:
Based on a one year qualitative study, this paper examines the migratory aspirations and experiences of non-Chinese young people in Pontianak, West Kalimantan, Indonesia. It is based on two main questions of migration in the context of young people’s education to work transition: 1) How do young people in provincial cities perceive processes of migration? 2) What is the role of intergenerational relations in realizing these aspirations? Living in a provincial city in Indonesia, many of these youth aspire to migrate to larger cities on the Java Island for tertiary education. It is found that apart from the idea that universities in Java are of better quality and diplomas from education institutions in Java provide leverage in the labour market, migrating to Java is also about growing up. Migrating is often linked to ideal notions of adulthood, indicated by independence. Yet, in reality, these aspirations often have to compete with parental expectations of family care and of building interdependent relationships with the family (rather than becoming independent). Thus young people are often constrained by their families in realizing their dreams to seek education in Java and even when they obtain permission to leave, they are expected to come back to Pontianak. This paper will describe the various strategies young people employ to realize their dreams of obtaining education in Java, the decisions made by those who fail to do so, and the choices made by migrants after finishing their education in Java. It will contribute to a body of knowledge on young people’s education to work transitions and how inter-generational dynamics play out in that process.

Abstract:
People in West Java uphold harmony and peace as an important part of their worldview. Yet, violence against women continues to occur, including in rural areas. This qualitative research using a case study design was conducted to explore and describe the cases of violence against women and the factors contributing to the case in Desa Selaras, a small village in rural West Java. The data were collected through observation and in-depth interviews with female violence survivors and NGO activists who assist them; as well as archival and literature studies. The findings of this research suggest the various types of violence against women, such as psychological violence (polygamy), physical violence (persecution), economic violence (economic exploitation and financial neglect), and sexual violence. Among the factors contributing to the violence in the village were gender inequality, financial problems, lack of knowledge and passive attitudes towards violence among the survivors, cultural values about women, lack of communication in the family, and male personality.

Abstract:
From horrific accounts of men decapitated to “ordinary” accounts of stolen motorcycles, the routine beating and killing of alleged criminals by mobs (massa) has become common in Indonesia. This article examines the patterns ofkeroyokan—mobbing—from 1995 through 2004 in four provinces and highlights the temporal, spatial, and substantive variations of this phenomenon. Drawing from a database of provincial and local news clippings in Bali, Bengkulu, West Java, and South Kalimantan and in-depth case studies and interviews, this article shows that mobbing varies considerably. Its causes are nationalandlocal. The temporal data show that nationally the most important factor to influence levels of mobbing was the introduction of decentralization. The power vacuum that resulted from the policy decision to transfer authority from the center to localities increased local violence. Yet this macrolevel explanation is inadequate to show the spatial variation and different forms of mobbing violence. To understand the causes of these dimensions of variation, one has to move away from macronational approaches measuring violence and include a more microethnographic local approach. A richer understanding of mobbing must be locally rooted. This article uses three case studies to illustrate the centrality of local factors affecting this form of violence. The case studies suggest that mobbing is shaped by the acquiescence of actors in local communities and local learning. The article draws attention to the need to incorporate local data and methods into an analysis of violence in Indonesia and to appreciate varied daily rituals of violence as reservoirs of conflict.

Abstract:
Instrumental support is concrete and tangible, for instance, helping to provide food or accompanying patients to health care facilities. However, its impact on medication adherence among tuberculosis patients in Indonesia needs to be explored. This study aimed to examine the impact of instrumental support from family on tuberculosis patients’ adherence to medication in Bogor City, West Java Province, Indonesia. A cross-sectional study involving 106 participants with an age average of 39.7 (SD = 14.9) was conducted in 12 primary health care (PHC). The independent variables (age, sex, education, employment status, wealth index, and the distance between home and PHC) of instrumental support from family was assessed using MMAS-8. In contrast, the dependent variable of medication adherence was assessed using a self-reported instrument. Multivariate binary logistic regression was used in the analysis and indicated that participants receiving family support were more likely to adhere to medication protocol (95% CI = 1.1–6.3; p-value = 0.029). Instrumental support from family was associated with medication adherence among tuberculosis patients in Bogor City, West Java Province, Indonesia. It is necessary to design further comprehensive interventions in the community setting to encourage the family to support tuberculosis patients following medication protocol.

RADICALIZATION AND THE DEVELOPMENT OF INCLUSIVE CULTURE IN WEST JAVA, INDONESIA. The aim of the Community Engagement (PPM) research is to explain efforts to deal with radicalization so that the country is not centric in the form of inclusive cultural development. The description seeks to trace the interpretation of Jatinangor District, Sumedang Regency, West Java Province. This was motivated by the tendency to strengthen radical understanding which was observed in West Java after the Reformation era in Indonesia. Strengthening radicalization can trigger the development of a culture of intolerance, verbal and physical violence, and exclusivism that is not impossible to bring the potential for national disintegration or threat to security in Indonesia. The study attachments in this PPM are Problem-Based Learning and Community-Based Research (CBR). Especially, in constructing ideas that are relevant to efforts so that problems in the community can be faced optimally. The formation of an inclusive culture is thought to enable the openness (inclusiveness) of society, tolerance, pluralism, collaboration and cooperation to control the diversity of identities in society. PPM is a follow-up from previous research which found that efforts to deal with radicalization were still state-centric. Based on the results of the PPM, it was concluded the need for awareness-raising and societal empowerment activities on an ongoing basis to deal with radicalization.

Marine ornamental trade has been developing for several years with Indonesia as one of the major exporter countries. Among the popular marine ornamental fish in the local and international markets belong to the family of Chaetodontidae. The existence of this family has been reported from several areas in Indonesia. However, no information is available in terms of their phylogenetic relationships of the fish from the south coast of West Java. The aim of this research was to asses the phylogenetic relationships among ornamental fish members of Chaetodontidae in the South Coast of West Java. Fish samples were collected from two trading sites Ujung Genteng and Taman Manalusu. Collected fish were identified using a previously published study. The evolutionary relationships among species were analyzed statistically through phylogenetic analysis based on maximum parsimony algorithm and Kimura 2- Parameter substitution model as implemented in PAUP 4.0 software. Tree branching pattern supported by 1000 bootstraps pseudo-replicates and out-group comparison. Daschyllus trimaculatus used as outgroup species. Based on the study, Chaetodontidae from the South Coast of West Java formed one monophyletic group compared to Dascylus trimaculatus with Chelmon rostratus was the basal species. All the remaining species were the derived species. There are CI and RI value gained. The consistency index (CI) value of this family is 0.5833, and the retention index (RI) is 0.5082.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to examine factors influencing the level of satisfaction of Islamic microfinance customers and their loyalty toward their patronized institution in Central Java, Indonesia. Design/methodology/approach The target population is all customers of Islamic microfinance institutions in Central Java, Indonesia. A sample of 300 respondents is selected for this study using purposive sampling and only 246 data are used in the analysis. The data are then analyzed using structural equation model with cost of loan, risk of loan, loan repayment, family welfare and Shariah issues as exogenous variables and satisfaction and loyalty as endogenous variables tested in the model. Findings The findings have shown that there is a significant effect of cost of loan, risk of loan and loan repayment upon the customers’ satisfaction and from the customers’ satisfaction toward the customers’ loyalty. The Shariah issues and family welfare were statistically insignificant to predict the customers’ satisfaction, which imply a big homework of Islamic finance academics and practitioners in Indonesia to educate people about Islamic finance and to show the real positive impact of Islamic finance models toward poverty. Originality/value Central Java is the province with a large number of SME and microfinance institutions, both conventional and Islamic, in Indonesia. Abstract:
Unmet need for family planning remains a challenge in Indonesia. The Government has incorporated into the 2020-2024 National Medium-term Development Plan, an ambitious target to reduce unmet need from 12,4% in 2018 to 7.4% in 2024. This will require significant effort, while systematic and updated studies explaining the underlying causes are scarce, especially those that look at the level within the diverse characteristics of Indonesia. This study therefore aimed to investigate the fundamental factors contributing to unmet need for family planning, categorized into five dimensions (D): D.1). weak or ambivalent fertility preferences; D.2). generic disapproval of pregnancy prevention; D.3). method-specific barriers to use; D.4). perceived low risk of getting pregnant; and D.5). partner-related factors. This study also mapped the pattern at the sub-national level namely Java-Bali (region 1/R1), outside Java&ndash;Bali 1 (region 2/R2) and outside Java-Bali 2 (region 3/R3). Findings show that the level of unmet need is highest in R3 which consists of provinces that started implementing their family planning program much later than provinces in the other two regions.&nbsp; The study also shows that women between 20-29 years old, with educated husband and larger family size, who consider smaller family size as ideal, are more likely to have unmet need compared to their counterparts in all regions. The likelihood of unmet need is most prominent in the region with the most mature program. The study emphasizes the importance of designing appropriate targeted interventions that are tailored to the local context and not apply a &lsquo;one-size-fits-all&rsquo; policy.

Abstract:
Objective: Depressive symptoms are common mental health problems among the family caregivers of patients with dementia. However, little is known about the prevalence of depressive symptoms among the family caregivers of patients with dementia in Indonesia. This study aimed to examine: 1) the factors predicting depressive symptoms, 2) the mediating role of social support in the relationship between burden and depressive symptoms, and 3) the association between depressive symptoms and healthcare utilization among family caregivers. Methods: This was a cross-sectional study involving 250 family caregivers of patients with dementia recruited from four hospitals in Java, Indonesia. Data were collected by Zarit Burden Interview (ZBI); the Neuropsychiatric Inventory Questionnaire (NPI-Q), the Mastery scale, the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support, and the Center for Epidemiologic Studies Depression (CES-D) Scale. Descriptive statistics, chi-square test, hierarchical multiple linear regression, and Baron and Kenny’s regression method were used to analyze the data. Results: The results revealed that about a quarter of the participants (24.8%) experienced depressive symptoms. Caregiver burden, mastery, behavioral and psychological symptoms of dementia, and social support explained 45.5% of the variance in the prevalence of depressive symptoms among family caregivers (R2=0.455). Social support also partially mediated the association between caregiver burden and depressive symptoms. There was no association between depressive symptoms and the use of healthcare services among the family caregivers. Conclusion: The findings revealed that social support is a mediating factor affecting the relationship between caregiver burden and depressive symptoms. Interventions targeting social support to help alleviate caregiver burden would be effective in helping reduce depressive symptoms in the family caregivers of patients with dementia.

<p><strong><em>Abstract</em></strong></p><em>Domestic violence had been and is still underreported. Inhibiting factor is the widely held perception that outside intervention in cases of domestic violence is unwelcome and asking outside help will bring shame to the family. It is and should be treated by family members among themselves. To make matter worse, there is the general tendency to shift the blame to the victim. This article discusses domestic violence, especially those directed against women, from the legal (normative) as well as criminological perspective. It is telling that after its recognition as a special crime by virtue of the Penal Code (in general terms) and by Law no. 23 of 2004 re. abolition of domestic violence, the public perception shifted for the better. Consequently, more and more victims of domestic violence, with the support of their families, report their case to the police.</em>
