Abstract:
Researchers and policymakers have become increasingly aware of the value of talking therapies and service providers are confronted with the need to deliver these cost-effectively. Amongst service providers, social workers are at the front line of rendering these kinds of services to families and people in the community. Yet in the UK theyoften do not have the training or / ., experience to provide interpersonally mediated talking-therapy services to people who specifically need them. This thesis suggests that a therapeutic approach, informed by the narrative and family therapy traditions, might be particularly useful, and its applicability and explores its theoretical development by means of case examples. Narrative therapy is particularly germane to the concerns of social work, in that it takes an ethical stance on people's stories, and addresses issues of oppression and the consequences of being marginalised. There have been few studies exploring the application and outcome of narrative therapy, mainly due to a lack of appropriate developed methodologies. The goal of this study was to develop a methodology that could indicate changes in the stories of families. Boje's (2001) idea of exploring the 'antenarratives' - the speculative precursors to full-fledged narratives - was adopted for this purpose. The present study tried to answer two research questions. These are whether an antenarrative methodology can be used to illustrate changes in the stories of families in order to assess the outcome of narrative family therapy, and whether this methodology can be used to track both grand and micro narratives and the changes that take place in these stories. The study was conducted from a practitioner-researcher perspective, with the researcher applying a model of narrative family therapy with participants from several families. For darity's sake, this thesis restricts itself to a detailed case-study account of the transcripts of a series of sessions with ') two families. A baseline narrative was analysed after the first session and a second base line after the sixth session. After each of the two analyses, changes were suggested to refine th~ approach. The conclusions reached are that the antenarrative approact) helps to track the development and construction of families' stories. Themaps illustrating how different themes deverop and interact in particular were helpful in illustrating both this and the ways in which stories develop rules and strategies to justify their own existence. It was recommended that the methodology be split into three sections depending on the goal of the study. The first part addresses the initial understanding to help sift through large volumes of data, whilst the grand and micro narratives helping to understand what is happening to stories and why this takes place. The latter part, concerned with narrative type, authorship, and comparative questions, is able to show what has changed and how this has occurred. The theoretical contributions made are that stories should not be seen , as two-dimensional and linear, but as multi-dimensional entities in which multiple stories interact with one another. The idea of a 'Tamara' - a play on multiple stages - is helpful in understanding how stories interact with one another and how the point or angle of view will determine the stories we hear and see. It also highlights the idea that families should not be seen as singlestory entities, but as living multiple stories, and formulates the issues so that they can be applied in social work contexts. The concepts of a grand and micro narrative were easily integrated with narrative therapy's idea of developing thick descriptions of people's lives, i and can turn the observer's gaze back upon the professionals to show how social workers police families through the process of providing help, thereby enhancing the profession's reflective capacities.

Abstract:
The field of marriage and family therapy (MFT) has prospered since its beginnings nearly 50 years ago. In order to keep the field current and competitive with other related professions, empirical research is necessary. Although there has been an upsurge of research on the effectiveness and specialty areas of MFT, one area has been overlooked: skills. THe empirical research that has been performed has focused its attention on beginning therapists. The current research took the next step in determining family therapy skills and investigated the skills needed by intermediate-level therapists--not beginners, yet also not advanced therapists. This research surveyed a panel of supervision experts in the MFT profession who work with intermediate-level therapists in order to determine the skills that intermediate-level therapists are the same skills thought to be important for beginning therapists, identified in previous research. Of the top 25 ranked items in the Basic Family Therapy Skills project that were rated in the current Intermediate Family Therapy Skills project, 22 of the items' means differed less than .25 in their ratings. Overall, most of the nominated items were rated between "very important" and "important". Implications for training and further research are discussed.

Abstract:

Abstract:
Psychosomatic is an interdisciplinary scientific direction in which the psychological, social and cultural factors of the occurrence of bodily diseases are studied. The term psychosomatic is not a qualitatively new concept, but represents the rebirth of the ethical principles of medicine, approaching the disease not as a specific individual phenomenon, but as a disease of a certain person, a disease of the soul, body and everything that surrounds it, i.e. his social environment. Starting with the impact of the family, the relationships between the parents, the permissions and prohibitions unconsciously assimilated by the individual from early childhood. The family, like the body and psyche, is a system. In recent years, a lot of literature has been written on this topic, many psychosomatic therapy centers, psychosomatic blogs, videos, documentaries, etc. have opened. which contributes to people’s awareness and responsibility for their psychophysical health.

Abstract:
This project aims to appraise evidence of the effectiveness of various practices on reducing stress, anxiety, and depression among parents of infants in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). The project contains six research articles from both national and international journals. Study designs include one meta-analysis, one randomized controlled trial, one small scale randomized controlled trial, one prospective phase lag cohort study, on pretest-posttest study, and one mixed-methods pretest-posttest study. Recommendations for effective interventions were based on best evidence discovered through quality appraisal and study outcomes. All interventions, except for educational programs and Kangaroo Care, resulted in a statistically significant reduction of either stress, anxiety, and/ or depression. Family centered care and mindfulness-based intervention reduced all barriers of interest. There is strong and high-quality evidence for the effect of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy on depression, moderate evidence for the effect of activity-based group therapy on anxiety, and promising evidence for the effect of HUG Your Baby on stress.

Abstract:
This Evidence Check review looked at the grey and peer reviewed literature related to the effectiveness of programs to support children and young people (10-17 years) at risk of homelessness. It aimed to identify key features of effective programs, core/common elements of the included programs and in establishment and rollout, and challenges and facilitators. Twenty programs were included, with 4 rated as “evidence based” and 7 as “promising”, 9 were considered to have insufficient evidence. Programs were also categorised into the following themes – in descending order of evidence: family therapy, intensive case management, service capacity building and early intervention.

Abstract:
Review question / Objective: The purpose of this systematic review is to find the quality of life among family caregivers of children with disabilities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Condition being studied: Quality of life is a broad-ranging concept affected in a complex way by the person’s physical health, psychological state, level of independence, social relationships, personal beliefs, and their relationship to salient features of their environment. A family caregiver is an unpaid individual who assists in caring for disabled children in activities of daily living, transfers, etc., and also aids in regular follow ups with doctors and rehabilitation professionals. These type of efforts affects the physical health, psychological state, and social relationships of caregivers, thereby reducing the quality of life of the family caregivers. Families in Saudi Arabia are family oriented, committed to family commitments, and respect family values; therefore, family members involve in caring for disabled children.

Abstract:
This rapid review summarises the evidence on the ways in which social inequalities and discrimination affect the risk of famine or severe food insecurity. Looking at the risk at the national and sub-national level, gender and other horizontal inequities can affect a society’s risk of violent conflict and therefore food insecurity, while fragile livelihoods associated with ethnic marginalisation can impact regional food security. At the individual and household level, there is a lack of disaggregated data on people’s social characteristics and famines. There is a broader literature on the impact of systemic discrimination (based on gender, age, disability, sexuality, and ethnic identity) on individuals’ and households’ livelihoods and assets, thereby increasing their vulnerability to food insecurity. A key finding from the literature is the gender gap, with women more at risk of being food insecure than men. Also, some ethnic groups are highly vulnerable particularly in conflict-related famines; starvation is used as a warfare tactic in political and ethnic conflicts. There is evidence of how social inequalities heighten individuals’ risks during food crises and famines, including through exposure to protection threats, while limiting their access to essential services and humanitarian assistance. A broad range of measures seeks to address the multi-dimensional ways in which social inequalities affect vulnerability and resilience to food insecurity.
