Abstract:
The article analyzes family anthroponyms associated with lexemes expressing family relationships. The study revealed a large number of surnames belonging to this group. The special majority are anthroponymic units formed by adding such terms of kinship as ata ‘father’, baba ‘grandfather’, eiən ‘grandson’, аҡai ‘elder brother’, etc. These anthroponyms are considered one of the most ancient. The high frequency of use in the book «Bashkir Shezhere» of such personal names associated with lexemes denoting kinship relations, such as Adykai, Atikey, Atagai-biy, Kuste, Mirzakilde, Mirzash, Myrzai, Myrzash Babysh, Sabai, Tenei, Tenekai (Tenkei), confirm the archaic nature of the onyms of this species. The study also proved the formation of most of the anthroponyms we are considering from lexemes with the meaning of consanguinity. In the article, for the first time, an analysis was made of the participation in the formation of anthroponyms of such lexemes with the meaning of kinship relations that are used in dialects of the Bashkir language, such as aby, aҡai ‘elder brother’, babҡai, babyҡai, dəүəтəй ‘grandfather’, tөpsөк ‘the youngest’. In the course of this study, it was suggested that anthroponyms based on dialect lexemes with the meaning of kinship are inherent exclusively in these dialects. It was also revealed that many Turkic peoples have many personal names formed from kinship terms, in particular, for example, the Kyrgyz people have many proper names with the ata component, and the name of the young dancer Kirghiz Atai is currently known.

Abstract:
The article analyzes the key family legal terms family, close relatives, family members, in-laws, former family member, relatives, legally defined by codified normative legal acts. The importance of defi ning these terms is determined due to the fact that the national marriage and family legislation is faced with the task of strengthening the family as a natural and basic unit of society. In the study, a number of conclusions were made and there was made a conclusion that a number of family legal terms need to be corrected. Arguments are given in favor of stating in the new edition of Article 60 of the Code of the Republic of Belarus on Marriage and Family, devoted to the issues of determining subjects that are in close relationship. It is concluded that it is inappropriate to avoid mentioning de facto marital relations in the Marriage and Family Code, while Civil Procedure Code directly mentions them. Using the techniques of comparative studies, the author independently developed a table that refl ects the content of the terms relatives, close relatives, family members, in-laws, former family members, and some others which aredefined out in codified legal sources of the Republic of Belarus.

Abstract:
Theoretical and methodological base of the research includes socio-demographic, thesaurus and generational approaches. Scientific and methodical base of the research is a survey held in the Volga Federal District (Republic of Tatarstan) and the North-Western Federal District (Vologda Region). This study reflects the rupture of the family thesaurus, the loss of the authoritarian value system of family relations, which leads to the leveling of responsibility, distortion of the forms of family relations, and orientation to false family values. Transmission of marital and reproductive behavior of Russian men in intergenerational aspect is analyzed on the base of the empiric survey, the role of father in comparative correlation with transmission of value heritage of fatherhood image is discovered. The scientific novelty of the study is to identify, based on the original methodology, problem areas for the implementation of various models of generative behavior of Russian men in the conditions of transformation of family and parenting institutions.

Abstract:
Today, a comprehensive study of social aspects, cultural and spiritual, as well as socio-economic, legal, educational and organizational features of family relations is one of the questions of the hour. The relevance of the issue is that, first of all, at the present stage of development of our society, it is socially necessary to conduct a scientific analysis of the Islamic doctrine regarding family relations in the process of increasing the spirituality of the Uzbek people, including religious literacy. Secondly, when analyzing and studying the basic principles of Sharia norms, it is necessary to correctly use this knowledge in the search for solutions to issues, reasons, and the nature of growing family divorces, which is very relevant today. In this regard, this article highlights the essence and characteristics, as well as the socio-economic, spiritual and cultural foundations of the conditions and obstacles to marriage, in Islamic teachings, which were considered in the region as traditions. The article also examines and comparatively analyzes the religious, spiritual, legal, economic and educational factors of the conditions of marriage: free mutual consent to marriage, participation of witnesses in marriage, equality, makhr; circumstances that prevent marriage: a ban on marriage between relatives, issues of marriageable age under Islamic law with the norms of family law.

Abstract:
The paper considers the development of family policy in metropolises within the frameworks of the second demographic transition. Demographic transformations lead to the spread of vulnerability of certain categories of families with children—single-parent families, large families—as well as exacerbation of the problem of combining childbirth and employment, aff ordability, favorable environment for childbirth. The aim of the work is to analyze the peculiarities of fertility transformations in metropolitan cities of Ukraine and to identify the challenges caused by them, to consider current practices of family policy in developed European countries, to formulate conclusions on the development of family policy in Ukrainian cities. The work uses an array of statistical indicators, formed on the basis of the State Statistics Service of Ukraine, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD Family Database), Eurostat (Eurostat). Fertility trends in metropolitan cities are studied by analyzing long time series. Correlation analysis is used to determine the importance of individual fertility factors in modern Ukraine. The study of family policy and the formation of recommendations is carried out using a historical analogy and a systematic approach. The novelty of the article lies in the confi rmation of the conformity of the transformation of fer tility in metropolises of Ukraine to European processes and formation of a vision of fami ly policy development in large metropolitan cities of Ukraine based on the study of demographic challenges and experience of family policy in Europe. In large metropolitan cities, the aging of motherhood and the spread of vulnerability of certain categories of families with children—single-parent families, large families—as well as exacerbation of the problem of combining childbirth and employment, aff ordability, favorable environment for childbirth has grown in intensity. Priority areas for the development of family policy in a metropolitan are the development of child care services, promotion of parental employment, promotion of housing, spread of gender equality.

Abstract:
Youth extremism continues to be relevant considering the fluid and changeable character of the contemporary world: new risk factors emerge while social institutions designed to provide social stability malfunction. The article aims at presenting the family attitudes among the youth which are connected to the problem of infantilism (social-psychological maturity), the attitude towards non-traditional gender relations, to the infidelity in romantic relationships, and how the media and TV series may contribute to an increased risk of extremism among the younger generations. The article is based on the data from six original studies on the above-mentioned issues conducted at the RUDN University in 2017-2019 with different sociological methods (questionnaire survey, focus groups and content analysis): a 2017 survey of RUDN students titled “Personal freedom through the eyes of young people” (N = 470); content analysis of four episodes of four Russian TV series in 2017; validation results for the method “Diagnostics of social immaturity in young people” (N = 500); four focus groups on the “Transformation of the contemporary social image of the Russian woman” in 2019; two focus groups with female students on the “Infidelity in romantic relationships” in 2021, and a 2021 survey of Moscow university students on extremism. The broad scope of topics covered in the study in the frame of up-to-date relevant research allowed for several findings which clarified the aspects that should be stressed when implementing the youth and family policy: the conscious parenting training for young families, systematic monitoring of social immaturity of young people in family and everyday life, restoration of the educational system to its former esteem as a counter to the present service sector. Some gradual changes can already be observed in the clear policy on same-sex relationships and attention to the media content at the government level.

Abstract:
Afitti is part of the Eastern Sudanic branch of the Nilo-Saharan language family. It features dual and plural forms as part of its kinship terminology that have not been attested elsewhere in the language family. Kinship terminology in which possessive pronouns have merged with kinship terms is also known for a series of Eastern Sudanic languages. Nyimang, Afitti’s closest linguistic neighbor, features a dual form but it is limited to its verbal system. The dual in Nyimang supports the suggestion that Afitti’s kinship terminology with a dual form has a historical basis, since a regional influence of the Arabic system of duals can be largely ruled out. Morphological data on Afitti should further the analysis of its kinship terms in future studies.

Abstract:
Accommodation and care for older people is commonly thought of in relation to residential care homes: the collective settings with communal lounges and dining rooms, where older people may live what seems to be a fine balance between individual and group routines. Yet, while there have been changes to the living arrangements of people in relatively large collective groups, the ideal put forward as a basis for care settings has remained that of ‘home’, with the family model still central. With the tensions between public and private, domestic and institutional living, regulated and non-regulated settings, all too obvious, this article uses a pilot study in Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire of registered small homes with less than four residential places, often run by the proprietor and her family, to consider whether residential homes may replicate a homely environment, or whether the model has run its course.

What does it mean to talk of family problems as opposed to individual problems? The use of the word clearly reminds the reader of the relational character of everyday troubles and, more than this, raises particular issues of dependency, mutuality, and obligations. My approach in terms of “family practices” highlights the ways in which everyday actions and reactions continually constitute family life, while the introduction of the term troubling families adds further levels of complexity to do with the boundaries between public and private. I explore these issues through a fictional example (Terence Rattigan’s play The Winslow Boy) as well as sociological case material.

Abstract:
We examine the Chinese family from an indigenous perspective. Starting from the meanings conveyed by the ideograms in the Chinese language, we analyze 4 different concepts into which the English term and sociological notion of family can be translated. Then, we examine the physical and ideological structures on which the ideograms are based. Our analysis reveals that the Chinese family has similarities with what in the West is called lineage and tribe, having complicated functions in politics, economics, and religion. Chinese views of family are related to a worldview that emphasizes continuity of being, which results in the distinctive emphasis on ancestor worship. Accompanying industrialization and urbanization, the Chinese in Taiwan have made adjustments to preserve the ideal of a joint family type and the equal obligation to support parents among sons, rather than moving toward a conjugal system, as W. J. Goode (1970) predicted.

Abstract:
Each culture has its own system of address forms, which vary not only across languages but across the varieties of the same language. This fact confirms the impact that sociocultural factors assert on the set of address forms and their functioning. The present study is focused on a sub-category of address forms, namely, terms of endearment, which are explored in American English and Syrian Arabic family discourse. The study aims to specify the set of the terms of endearment in two contexts and reveal similarities and differences in their usage related to their pragmatic meaning, im/politeness, and communicative values. It also investigates how frequently and in what contexts terms of endearment are used in the American and Syrian family circle. The dataset, which includes 312 interactions with 199 terms of endearment (87 English and 112 Arabic) were obtained from 20 hours of American drama television series, This is us and 25 hours of a Syrian drama television series, Rouzana. The data were categorized and analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively implementing discourse analysis theory, politeness theory, and cultural studies. The results of our analysis have shown that the American English and Syrian Arabic terms of endearment are used as indicators of personal attitude and emotion, as well as markers of informality, closeness, and emotive politeness. They indicate that in Syrian Arabic, terms of endearment can also express respect and deference, they are more variable, expressive, and conventional which may suggest that they are a salient feature of the Arabic family discourse. The findings of the present paper add to the existing writings on forms of address and can be useful for further research in sociolinguistics, cross-cultural pragmatics, and intercultural communication.

Abstract:
As a linguistic resource, term of address in language socialization can become a means to make children competent in language and in society. This article aims to describe the practice of language socialization that is reflected from terms of address used by parents with children in the family environment. The study took place in Sleman Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region, Indonesia. The data were obtained through questionnaires and observations. The questionnaires were distributed to parents through six schools (Play Groups, Day Care Centers, and Kindergartens) in the city center of Sleman Regency (N=145). Meanwhile, observations were made on five families living in urban Sleman. The data were analyzed by qualitative method which began with classifying the forms of address to then find out the motivation and socialization values contained in these forms of address. The results of the research indicated that, as a linguistic resource, several forms of address with various motivations were found. The forms and motivations for the preferred addresses toward children indicated that in urban family environments parents tend to rely on child-centered communication during the language socialization process. In this case, parents adapted their language usage to meet their children’s developmental levels. This is evident from the use of address in the form of proper names and kinship terms (which can be followed by proper names) that are utilized to avoid the use of second person pronouns. In addition, there is an emphasis on affection conveyed through addresses in the form of adjectival nominalization, nominal forms, terms of endearment, and various forms of appositives. The values reflected in the selection of such addresses are courtesy, affection, hope, cultural and religious identity, and position of society between locality and nationality. Keywords: language socialization; address to children; family environment SOSIALISASI BAHASA DI LINGKUNGAN KELUARGA MELALUI KATA SAPAAN UNTUK ANAK-ANAK AbstrakSebagai salah satu sumber kebahasaan, pemakaian sapaan dalam sosialisasi bahasa dapat menjadi sarana untuk menyosialisasikan anak agar memiliki kecakapan dalam berbahasa dan bermasyarakat.

Abstract:
This paper aims to contribute to the literature on corporate governance and innovation, providing empirical evidence with respect to the evolution of board composition and innovation over time, comparing between family and non-family businesses. Data were collected from 86 Spanish companies belonging to innovative sectors during the period 2003 to 2014. The results show a significant difference between family and non-family firms in terms of their board composition, indicating bigger boards and a higher proportion of independent directors in the case of non-family businesses. With regards to external directors, the results also show that their proportion has been increasing in the last years especially in family companies, reaching similar levels to non-family ones. Finally, in terms of gender, its diversity has been also increasing in both types of companies, but more in family businesses, equalling or even overcoming gender diversity in non-family businesses. Non-significant differences were detected in the composition of the boards over time, with the only exception of gender diversity, which shows a significant growth. This descriptive study contributes to the inconclusive research on how is the composition and structure of the board in innovative companies, highlighting the differences between family and non-family business.

Helena Almeida (1934-2018) is one of the most interesting and relevant artists in Portuguese contemporary art, having produced an oeuvre of great integrity and consistency, in which the body of the artist and processes of self-representation (always in an ambivalent, subversive and transgressive relation with that same art tradition) took centre stage. Taking the work Family portrait (1979) as its starting point, this article will explore the relation Almeida had with the familiar, be it in personal, artistic or national terms, as all these dimensions of the concept cannot be dissociated from each other when we look at this artist’s oeuvre.

Abstract:
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to investigate what types of open innovation search strategies are associated with internal innovation activities in family and non-family SMEs within natural resource-based clusters. Design/methodology/approach This study is based on an empirical analysis of a sample of 245 Chilean firms. Findings Results suggest that while family and non-family SMEs do not significantly differ in terms of internal innovation activities, important differences exist in terms of open innovation search strategies. In particular, family SMEs search for new ideas and knowledge within their closest network of relationships (e.g. customers, suppliers and competitors), whereas non-family SMEs mainly focus on broader network relationships (e.g. universities, public institutions and fair trade organizations). Practical implications This study shows that within a natural resource cluster, the types of firm do matter. In fact, family and non-family SMEs use different open innovation search strategies to innovate; hence, this research may help and assist policy makers in tailoring innovation policies aimed at expanding the potential benefits of clusters for regional growth and development. Originality/value This research addresses the call to further investigate the link between family SMEs and innovation in developing countries, given that SMEs may also act as a lively player for regional development.

Abstract:
In linguistics, there are different ways of classifying the lexical richness of a particular language. In particular, classifications such as thematic groups of words, lexical-semantic groups of words, stylistic layers of lexicon, historical-etymological layers of words are widely used. However, in linguistics, it has become a tradition to first divide the nouns in the language into two major groups: common nouns and proper nouns. This classification is limited in size as it refers only to the noun family. In fact, all words (adjectives, rhymes, numbers, verbs, adverbs, adverbs) that do not fall into the category of nouns in the language can be placed as opposites. However, if we approach the issue from this point of view, the lexicon of the language can be divided into two large groups: a group of common (ordinary) nouns and a group of proper nouns. In onomastics, there is also the term appellate, appellate lexicon. The term does not refer to all common words in a language, but to words that are the basis or division of a noun. This means that the appellate lexicon is a branch of cognate words in the language that has the property of transitioning to the function of a pronoun.

Abstract:
This study examines the whether or not family firms are financially healthier than non-family in terms of capital structure and leverage. It therefore takes into consideration the existence of any significant differences between the leverage and risk choices of family and non-family firms. Using a panel data set of 888 firms and 7104 firm-year observations of unlisted small and medium size firms over the period 2007–2014, we present that family owned businesses have lower financial structure than those of non-family owned businesses. This indicates that most family firms use less debt financing than non-family firms, and as such maintain a lower level of debt. Secondly, family firms demonstrate lower risk as illustrated by the Altman Z-score. The Altman Z-score scale illustrates a contrary relationship of significance with respect to family firms and their counterparts in terms of the operation aspect of the business’s risk factors. Family firms managed their business operations with lower risk and are generally healthier financially than their counterpart firms. Lastly, findings from the robust tests for the hypotheses using a sample of bankrupt firms in Iberian Balance sheet Analysis System (SABI) reveal that the proportion of failure of family firms as opposed to their counterpart firms is relatively low. Analyzing the bankruptcy files of firms from 2002 to 2014 shows a considerably low ratio of family firms at the 5% significant level. This affirms that the low risk illustrated in the Altman Z-score regression is consistent to the lower ratio of family firms that were declared bankrupted over the study period, which makes Spain an important case in this study.

The welfare state is one of the most frequently used social scence terms that causes arguments or political discussions. The role of the state in the development of its social role has changed through time, and parallel with this, the term welfare state has changed too, as well as theories regarding the welfare state. In this study, the author’s main goal is to summarise the different theories of the welfare state. Following this, a special approach will be shown in terms of the categorization of the welfare state to show its role in a special welfare: i.e. in what ways does it supports families. This view has not received much attention in detail in the literature so far.

Abstract:
The article offers reflections on ethical incorrectness, psychological discomfort or negligence allowed by the Russian legislator in the construction of legal regulations (when using terms, terminological constructions, attempts to define concepts). Samples of this kind were found, due to the strictly defined scientific interests of the author, in the legislation of the social sphere -in its broad meaning (family, labor, insurance, medical). Among other things, attention is drawn to the peculiar manifestations of gender stereotypes and inaccuracies in the terminological provision of texts.
