Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to examine whether teachers' behaviors related to pupils' psychosocial development would differ when physical education teachers taught curricular physical education lessons and when they coached extracurricular school teams. Subjects were 22 physical education teachers who taught and coached basketball in northeastern Colorado and southeastern Wyoming. One physical education lesson on basketball and one basketball practice were videotaped for each subject. These tapes were then coded for frequency of teachers' reactive and spontaneous behaviors with the Coaching Behavior Assessment System. A one-way analysis of variance test indicated that there was no statistically significant difference between the rates teachers used all behaviors during lessons and practices. Hotelling-Lawley trace tests and subsequent repeated-measures multivariate analysis of variance indicated that teachers provided significantly higher rates of punitive mistake-contingent technical instruction, general technical instruction, and general encouragement during extracurricular practices and used a significantly higher rate of behaviors aimed at keeping control during curricular lessons. Unlike previous research on skill-related behaviors, the results did not indicate that teachers' performance suffered dramatically during curricular lessons when compared with performance in extracurricular practices.

Mathematics as a school subject in primary and secondary school is a significant problem for quite a number of students. Additional classes that are organized and conducted within schools reduce this problem, but not significantly. In supplementary classes, the same is done with large groups, but not individually, and the same teachers teach in the same way that did not give satisfactory results, and similar. For that reason, many resort to the so-called “instructions”, in other words to the extracurricular supplementary lessons of mathematics. The aim of the research is to examine, determine, analyze and present the representation of extracurricular supplementary teaching in mathematics in secondary (high school) education depending on gender, grade, socio-economic status of the family and grade point average in the past school year

AbstractIn the last 30 years Croatia has been involved in an intensive period of educational reforms. Music teaching, as a compulsory subject, underwent some positive and negative changes. The so-called open model and contents remake bring the possibility for teachers to be more creative and for students to be involved to a greater extent, but unfortunately, music lessons come to just 1 h per week. As a part of the Croatian school system, the extracurricular music activities are implemented in the school curriculum which affects the acquisition of new knowledge developing students’ musical skills. This paper aims to present the today’s situation of attending music classes in regular and extracurricular lessons in Croatia. Moreover, it discusses the international research project Schools@Concerts: Tuning up for the Music Experience which influences the idea how to carry out another kind of extracurricular musical activity which suits the worldwide environment. The intention is to familiarize students with (classical) music during the work in the extracurricular activity and by visiting to a concert. The author presents her own idea how to realize the extracurricular music activity Listening to Music with Concert Experience carried out by a cognitive – emotional approach to listening to music which contributes to the students’ music appreciation and preservation, transfer, renewal and dissemination of cultural heritage.

Abstract:
Statement of the problem. The article supports the educational and cognitive potential of modern children’s literature devoted to certain topics of Russian history, and provides methodological recommendations for including such works in the circle of adolescent reading. The problem raised in the article follows an active discussion (initiated by methodological circles) of historical topics that are important for discussion with teenagers, the selection of literary texts for extracurricular reading. The purpose of the article is to present content-wise and methodological approaches to the study of modern historical prose in the process of extracurricular reading among teenagers (on the example of two topics – Ancient Russia and Stalin’s repressions). The research methodology is based on the analysis of literary works devoted to the concept of historical prose, as well as scientific and methodological sources describing the basics of extracurricular and adolescent reading (methods of theoretical research). In addition, the work is based on the method of empirical research – a survey conducted among students. Description is given to the first stage of the search experiment related with the development of a system of lessons on extracurricular reading of contemporary works on historical themes (the selection of relevant fiction for reading and its distribution among classes, basic content aspects and teaching methods that promote efficient study of historical works specifics). Research results. Based on modern approaches to the educational process, a system of lessons has been developed that focuses on the inclusion of historical works in reading for adolescents. The functional significance of such texts is justified, methodological techniques and central content aspects that are important for discussion with students are identified. Conclusion. The proposed author’s concept of studying modern historical works addressed to the adolescent reader can be implemented in school literature teaching as a way to solve important educational and cognitive tasks and develop meta-subject educational results.

Abstract:
Abstract: this article tries to know the relationships that can be found between School Physical Education and Leisure Physical Sportive Practice among the population of teenagers and young people from Huesca who study Compulsory Secondary Education, Bachillerato, Professional Studies, taking into account the gender. In this research, the satisfaction level referred to the experienced physical education lessons is expressed through the level of benefit that is assigned to those experiences when young people start extracurricular physical-sportive practice. Among the main conclusions, it is checked that poorly one out three of students from Huesca, states that physical education lessons were useful to access extracurricular practice. As well, the consideration that physical education lessons are a way to access to extracurricular physical-sportive practice is mainly associated to women. The more useful are the lived experiences during P.E. lessons, the more is the number of feminine students who go on practicing and less is the number of people that give up sport. In fact, seven out of ten of feminine students who refer to these lessons as very useful, keep on practicing and three of them abandon physical activity. Abstract:
The aim of the article is to analyze the main directions of scientific and pedagogical activity of O.Yu. Bogdanova, the issues of her scientific works (the content of literary education, reading interests, the peculiarities of the perception of fiction by students, the relationship between the perception and analysis of a literary work, the co-creation of the teacher and students in literature lessons). The article uses a comparative historical research method. The authors acknowledge O.Yu. Bogdanova’s contribution to the modern theory and methodology of teaching literature, to developing various ideas of his teacher V.V. Golubkov’s: On binding methodology with psychology, on the close connection of the methodology of teaching literature with sociology and the psychology of reading, on the need to rely on the achievements of literary criticism and didactics. The issue of the student being a reader became one of central in the scientific works of O.Yu. Bogdanova, who functioned already in her early articles both as a methodologist and as a psychologist. In 1980s, at the Department of Literature Teaching Methods of Moscow State Pedagogical Institute named after V.I. Lenin (now – MPGU), under her leadership, the V.V. Golubkov scientific school was established. The school considered the issue of interest both on the basis of the study of the reading interests of schoolchildren, students, teachers, parents, and on the experience of the effective organization of a literature lesson, other forms of educational activities and extracurricular activities that promoted the development of interest in reading and studying literature. In conclusion, the article deduces that many of the scientist’s requirements for the training and retraining of language teachers are relevant: dialogization of the content of literary education, development of interest in reading, active development of the ideas of hermeneutics, study of the dynamics of teaching literature, search for new effective methods and technologies for conducting lessons and extracurricular literature classes.

Despite this mandate, state and local education agencies across the country engage in practices that could be characterized as providing unwarranted segregation and unequal education practices. One such example is a U.S. Department of Justice investigation of the Georgia Network for Educational and Therapeutic Services. The Department of Justice issued guidelines for appropriate program modifications, including proper evaluation procedures, appropriate entrance and exit standards, effective behavioral and mental health education services, and equal education and extracurricular opportunities. Implications for practitioners, in light of these suggested guidelines, are detailed.

Abstract:
Introduction. The article raises the issue of the use of health technologies in general secondary education. Emphasis is place on the fitness model of health technologies. Aim is to reveal the features of the physical culture and health model of health technologies and the results of experimental testing of the use of such a model in general secondary education. Material and methods. The following methods of research were used in scientific work: theoretical (analysis and generalization of scientific literature on the research problem) and empirical (observation, questionnaire, pedagogical research). Results. The results of the study prove that the level of physical activity of school children is mostly due to the organization of physical education at school and their involvement in various forms of physical activity in extracurricul aractivities, given that physical education lessons two or three times a week donot provide the necessary physical mode. Deficiency of motor activity is satisfied only by 20-30%. Indicators of physical activity for schoolchildren should be 10-15 hours per week, which are recommended by the WHO. This is what should be taken into account when planning and conducting physical education lessons and the organization of physical culture and health activities in generals econdary education. Conclusions. The monitoring of physical development of students in grades 4-8, inparticular the physical fitness of girls in experimental educational institutions, where a physical culture and health model of health technologies has been introduced, showed a significant advantage (compared to other educational institutions) in most indicators, especially functional readiness. Extracurricular sports activities and four physical education lessons per week were used to some extent. The boys have less pronounced indicators of significant changes, perhaps it should be noted only the 8th grade and 4th grade. This indicator, obviously, can be explained by the leveling of additional extracurricul aractivities for boys that they are more active in physical activity outside of school (sports, indoor soccer, etc.).

Abstract:
The article is devoted to the review and analysis of forms and methods of organization of extracurricular music-educational work, which would promote the development of children, the formation of their musical culture, creative attitude to life and art. As well as these forms and methods will contribute to the development of patriotism and students’ aesthetic. Extracurricular music-educational work complements music lessons and aims to expand the musical horizons of children, deepen their knowledge, as well as improve performance skills and abilities. The organization of extracurricular musical activities involves compliance with certain guidelines. The success of a variety of work combined to develop musical skills depends largely on how well students master and feel the need for different musical activities. The obtained musical skills of the participants have a way out: together they prepare themed evenings, concerts, perform at holidays and reviews. This gives them the opportunity to feel the need and importance of the ability to own a musical instrument. In the process of teaching singing, the teacher solves many problems related to the development of students' voices and the acquisition of vocal and choral skills and abilities necessary for artistic expression. With choral singing activists, you can prepare an article for the school wall newspaper, in which to talk about the importance of creating a choir, the prospects for its development and immediate tasks; draw up a colorful poster announcing the organization of the choir, where to indicate the days and hours of listening to all who wish to sing.

Abstract:
Recent studies reiterate the importance of mathematical literacy and the identification of skills, knowledge and cognitive processes which contribute to composite test scores to facilitate targeted remediation and extension activities. To this end, the current article examines data from the 2012 cycle of the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA), using multilevel modelling techniques to explore the relationship between selected student-level and teacher/school-level factors and the three processes of interpret, employ and formulate which were measured as the skills underlying mathematical literacy in that assessment. Results of the analyses indicate that boys outperform girls significantly ( p < 0.001) in all three processes whereby formulate invokes relatively more inter- and intra-level influences compared with interpret. Apart from the relatively higher item-difficulties of formulate, an increase in the complexity of contextual effects at the student and the teacher/school-level emerges as mathematical processes move from interpret to employ to formulate. Findings also reveal that students taught by teachers who had mathematics as a major in their undergraduate studies and who work in relatively smaller classes or groups show higher performance in all three mathematical literacy processes. Use of ICT in mathematics lessons is negatively associated with the three mathematical literacy processes. The additional negative effect of mathematical extracurricular activities at school on the processes highlights the need to rethink how technology and extracurricular lessons are to be used, designed/structured and delivered to optimise the learning of mathematical processes, and ultimately improve mathematical literacy.

A teacher's workday is filled with so many tasks—planning and presenting lessons, giving help to individual students, contacting parents, acting as advisors for extracurricular activities, serving on committees, assessing students' work—that adding another responsibility seems impossible. However, professional development is a necessary task that affects all aspects of a teacher's work. The Professional Standards for Teaching Mathematics (NCTM 1991) calls for teachers to take an active role in their own professional development and lists “reading and discussing ideas presented in professional publications“ (p. 16g) as an activity that will enhance professional growth. The necessity of reading professional journals can be a blessing in disguise because teachers can gain myriad ideas to help with their work. I shall share a few of the ways in which I plan to use the 1996–1997 Mathematics Teacher to help me plan my lessons, prepare student activities, and grow professionally.

Mathematics has always been a difficult subject for the students. Math learning in the classroom is often a very tedious process for most students. Many students are unmotivated to study mathematics, which means that the disposition of students in learning mathematics is lacking. Mathematical dispositions relate to student attitudes, the tendency to think and act positively in learning mathematics. One of the extracurricular activities that students are interested in is the Extrakurikuler Scout activities. Students are always eager to follow the activities in these activities. This means that the education system contained in the Boy Scouts is able to attract students' attention and be able to motivate students. Even when students are given difficult challenges, students seem to be passionate and happy to follow the challenge. This means students have a positive attitude in following Scout activities. This is certainly when applied in the learning of mathematics will be able to make students feel happy to attend math lessons. Abstract:
This article discusses the methodological system of studying paremias in Russian language lessons. Linguistic and cultural analysis of paremia allows us to identify the existing value-significant representations of an ethnic group based on accumulated information of a cultural and historical nature, first of all, about a person in the aggregate of certain properties, qualities, activities, and his attitude to the world. Paremias are aphorisms of folk origin, characterized by conciseness of form, reproducibility of meaning and having, as a rule, an edifying meaning. Paremia is a unique object for the study of language and culture, the purpose of which is to study cultural layers in the structure of the meaning of language units. Paremia is capable not only of expressing a conclusion, but also of forming generalized ideas about the laws of life. Since paremias are part of the national language picture of the world, and therefore part of the national language mentality, in this case, in our opinion, it is also possible to talk about the existence of a proverbial mentality, that is, the mentality of the nation, reflected in the paremiological Fund. When studying the discipline “Russian language”, students have the opportunity to master the skills of linguistic and cultural analysis of language units, get acquainted with different types of exercises and tasks, prepare to apply the acquired skills and implement the skills in regular, extracurricular and extracurricular activities.

Abstract:
The article examines the specifics of the study of the Russian classics in the years of literary jubilees, when the role of the classics in the spiritual life of the country is significantly enhanced, new opportunities for actualizing classical works appear. The author reveals traditional and new forms of work of a language teacher with students in the classroom and in extracurricular activities during the period of literary anniversaries. The article provides an overview of the most significant cultural events and sources dedicated to the 200th anniversary of I.S. Turgenev and A.A. Fet, the 125th anniversary of S.A. Yesenin. The practical part of the article deals with the methodology of guiding the students’ research work (on the example of identifying the role of Pushkin’s quotes in the story by I.S. Turgenev “Spring Waters”). The concluding part of the article presents the content and methods of conducting the anniversary problem lesson “N.А. Nekrasov and A.A. Fet: a dialogue between two poets and two poetic directions in the Russian poetry”. In it, on the basis of specific and little-studied material, the periods of the closest proximity of the two poets are considered, Nekrasov’s assessments of Fet’s work are given and the reasons for their personal and creative divergence in the 1860s are revealed. The author concludes that literary anniversaries are a serious incentive for the actualization of the works of Russian classics, for the inclusion of students in the cultural life of the country. It is important for a literature teacher to have information on the holding of these anniversaries, to use the information in their work, to prepare for lessons and extracurricular activities, to contribute to forming a philological environment at school, to improve their literary and methodological competence.

AbstractThis paper considers how creativity and creative activities can be encouraged in regular mathematical classes by combining different teaching approaches and academic disciplines. We combined origami and paper folding with fractals and their mathematical properties as well as with coding in Scratch in order to facilitate learning mathematics and computer science. We conducted a case study experiment in a Serbian school with 15 high school students and applied different strategies for learning profound mathematical and coding concepts such as fractals dimension and recursion. The goal of the study was to employ creative activities and examine students’ activities during this process in regular classrooms and during extracurricular activities. We used Scratch as a programming language, since it is simple enough for students and it focuses on the concept rather than on the content. Real-life situation of folding Dragon curve was used to highlight points that could cause difficulties in the coding process. Classroom observations and interviews revealed that different approaches guided students through their learning processes and gradually made the introduced concepts meaningful and applicable. With the introduction of this approach, students acquired understanding of the concept of coding recursion trough paper folding and applied it in the higher-level programming. In addition, our teaching approach made students enthusiastic, motivated and engaged with the learning of usually difficult subjects.

The question of morality has always been an important issue in a society. Furthermore, moral education is a key framework for personal development. In the 21st century, there is an increasing issue of how to teach young people morality. This paper presents how moral education is conducted in China and the US, with the aim of introducing and inspecting their examples, considering thus our moral education from another perspective and giving suggestions how to change it and how to implement it. Moral education only makes sense if extends throughout all levels of education, including not merely theoretical level but also practical activities, which are highlighted in this paper. These practical activities should not be isolated examples of enthusiastic individuals, but a systemic solution. There is a need for a specific curriculum for implementation of moral education in schools through school subjects and extracurricular activities, activities with a class teacher, charity actions, individual rewards, competitions in motivational speeches or essays about morality, and so on. Briefly, it is necessary that morality becomes an integral part of everyday life both in school and out of it.

Abstract:
The aim of the study was to develop methodological foundations for the analysis of natural and cultural heritage by integrating schools’ in-class, extracurricular and project activities that realize the potential of the heritage in educational programs. The study was carried out on the materials of Russian legislation, taking into account the results of Russian educators’ research and methodological developments in school subjects related to the study of cultural heritage. As a methodological basis, a culturological approach was used, combining highly specialized approaches in student-centered education. The author notes that currently there is a contradiction between the potential of cultural heritage in the formation of a “person of culture” and the lack of elaboration of the methodological basis that implements this potential in school curricula. In the course of the study, personality-oriented directions and culture-oriented concepts of modern Russian education were overviewed. It has been revealed that the complexity of methodological support in the study of the use of cultural and natural heritage in school curricula consists in the heterogeneity of approaches to understanding such use, multifunctional in nature. As a result of the analysis of the existing methods and programs of school subjects, it has been revealed that the main problem of the developed approaches is the study of heritage only at lessons. The potential of schools’ extracurricular and project activities is practically not used. It has been determined that the study of cultural and natural heritage at lessons in each specific case should take place through the transformation of typical methods, their effective combination within the framework of different subjects. The methodology for studying cultural and natural heritage developed in the study includes several levels: 1) schools’ educational subject-oriented activity; 2) students’ project activities; 3) holding of contests and competitions; 4) extracurricular school activities. Each level has its own formats for studying heritage in the framework of in-class, extracurricular and project educational activities. Such a model will allow educational organizations to form a qualitatively new school teaching and educational space, involving the development of the spiritual, patriotic and civic components of modern education. A further study of the methodological foundations of studying heritage in school curricula should include the definition of criteria for selecting objects of cultural and natural heritage in school subjects.

This study aims to uncover the situation and conditions for the implementation of Pendidikan Diniyah Formal (PDF) or Formal Religious Education (PRE) management, especially in West Java, as the epicenter of Indonesian Islamic education. However, every year there are students who resign from PDF, which is basically unusual for students studying in formal education. This study uses a qualitative method. Data was collected through interview, document studies and observations. The study was carried out in PRE Al-Jawahir and Al-Masturiyah. The results of the study show that the PRE, besides being held by madrassas (Islamic formal education), can also be organized by pesantren (non-formal Islamic boarding schools). In fact, they got two proofs of graduating formal education in the form of a Wathani Certificate that is equivalent to a National Examination Result Certificate (NERC), and a diploma (graduation certificate). Both proofs of graduation were signed by the head of the PRE and the head of the boarding school. Santri (student) PRE Wushto learns face-to-face in class as much as 52 lessons each week with an allocation of 40 minutes lesson time. Santri PRE Ulya as many as 53 hours, with an allocation of 45 minutes/lesson hours. Abstract:
Twelve university students made an English presentation to introduce various puppet theaters from around the world at an international conference as an extracurricular project. Considering the English presentation as a task for the students, the teacher employed Task-Based Language Teaching (TBLT) and set four steps for the students to perform: developing background knowledge of the topic, conducting research on puppet theaters in each country, writing and revising a presentation script, and practicing making a presentation. The result of this project showed that TBLT worked effectively in encouraging students to be actively involved in these four steps, utilize all four skills for a real-world purpose, and successfully realize the English presentation. The students reported a high degree of satisfaction and a desire to participate in more opportunities to communicate with foreign people. These steps can be applied to regular English lessons to help students to make English presentations.

Abstract:
The study concerning an experimental learning material was carried out in the primary school. A specific feature of the innovative material is topic based on notions related to physics. Seven years old pupils' pre-knowledge of scientific notions have been analysed in the current study. A sample of the vocabulary suggested by the physicists was tested with different groups of respondents: pupils of the first grade, pupils additionally involved in extracurricular activities in the club "Friend of Science" and the students of a teacher training department. The notions selected by the physicists denote the phenomena of energy, space science, atomic and digital study area that up till now were not included in the actual primary school curriculum. As a result of this study, the fact has to be reported that the pupils – not having had any previous lessons on these themes – have given 72% right answers altogether, but the pupils involved in the special club, know nearly all presented notions. There are conclusions drawn from the current study for compiling of texts for beginning reader and for introducing the scientific themes in primary school lessons.
