Abstract:
Extra lesson for students has been adopted by schools and families in Nigeria to enhance academic performance. The study was undertaken to investigate the effect of type of family and type of extra lesson on students’ academic performance. The students’ academic performance was from test administered jointly by the teachers and enumerators on 1,191 students in 24 randomly selected schools, eight each from the three senatorial districts. The effects of type of family, extra lesson and interaction between family and extra lesson were determined using a two-way analysis of variance. The result indicates that type of family (p-value = 0.021) and type extra lesson (p-value=0.001) have a significant effect on students’ academic performance, but the interaction between the two factors (p-value=0.081) does not have significantly effect. Further investigation revealed that students from monogamy family performed significantly better than those from polygamous families. Also, students involve in holiday lesson and home lesson did significantly better than those participating in school extra lesson. It is important that parents should have more time for their wards after school hours instead of transferring their responsibilities to the teachers by extending the school hours because of extra lesson. Keywords: Extra lesson, family, academic performance, students’ enrolment, analysis of variance.

Abstract:
Extra virgin olive oil (EVOO) consumption has a beneficial effect on human health, especially for prevention of cardiovascular disease and metabolic disorders. Here we underscore the peculiar importance of specific cultivars used for EVOO production since biodiversity among cultivars in terms of fatty acids and polyphenols content could differently impact on the metabolic homeostasis. In this respect, the nutrigenomic approach could be very useful to fully dissect the pathways modulated by different EVOO cultivars in terms of mRNA and microRNA transcriptome. The identification of genes and miRNAs modulated by specific EVOO cultivars could also help to discover novel nutritional biomarkers for prevention and/or prognosis of human disease. Thus, the nutrigenomic approach depicts a novel scenario to investigate if a specific EVOO cultivar could have a positive effect on human health by preventing the onset of cardiovascular disease and/or chronic inflammatory disorders also leading to cancer.

Abstract:
The first year I was given a lesson-plan book to use for teaching, I was bewildered. My plans could not possibly fit into those two-inch-by-three-inch rectangles. Besides, we were also required to submit weekly lesson plans, which included a list of performance objectives, activities, materials, and assignments. I decided to use the plan book as a type of appointment calendar in which I would note changes in the school day, special assemblies, fire drills, meetings with counselors, and conferences with parents. To keep my materials organized, I stored my weekly lesson plans in the back of the lesson-plan book. But extra space still remained. Then I discovered what, for me, became a very effective tool in classroom management.

Abstract:
Modern Techniques are introduced in teaching and learning process frequently one such technique is Flipped Classroom learning. Where the pupils are asked to learn the contents given to them at their home from the available sources and they review the topics in their classroom. Since every student collect information from various sources like YouTube, Video lessons, different types of educational apps, Magazines and sources from elders etc. the collection will be excellent to review and collective ideas can help them to learn better than routine blackboard chalk and talk method by doing. So, they learn effectively and their doubts are cleared through discussion with peers in the presence of teacher. The teacher can conclude the teaching learning process by giving extra information left untouched by the students. The researcher is a computer science teacher so she took a lesson from Eleventh Standard Computer Science text book of State board in the 4th Chapter of Volume - I, "Theoretical Concepts of Operating System" and she prepared a video lesson, that video lesson is utilized by the students to learn the contents allotted to them. The Conclusion of her studying, she found that flipped classroom learning is effectively impact in the course content to the students.

Abstract:
A lecturer should do an ‘extra efforts’ to make the teaching learning process run smoothly. However, during the process, there is a fallibility which might not be directly observed by the lecturer. The lecturer, therefore, needs to carry out an evaluation of his/ her teaching. It can be done is through applying Lesson Study which consists of plan, do and see and involving observers to optimize the process. This research was limited on answering the research problems: what are the observers’ roles in lesson study to improve the competency of the lecturers? and what are the mutual feedback of the observers in conducting lesson study? The design of this study was descriptive and qualitative research. The required data were collected by using active-participatory observation by observing 3 observers and 5 model lecturers. In addition, the researcher also did post-interview. Based on two cycles of lesson study, the researcher found that the observers had significant roles to improve their competency. Moreover, the findings showed that they got mutual feedback to improve their competency and classroom management which is discipline, active, interactive, enjoyable, and motivating to make an active learning. This proves that lesson study is worth to be applied in developing the competency of the lecturers in faculty of teacher training and education.

Abstract:
Accomplished physical education (PE) teachers recognize teachers’ motivation, lesson implementation as well as the application of PE contents. This is because these affect teaching effectiveness in PE class. However, a previous study from Koonsri (2016) found that the teachers lacked motivation and focused on extra money or bonus from their teaching. In addition, because the pre-service PE teachers had poor experiences in teaching and controlling the classes, these issues affected the implementation and integration of the PE contents (Claypan, 2014; Kanchana, 2010). Thus, this study examines the relationship between teachers’ motivation, lesson implementation, and application of PE contents among pre-service PE teachers in Southern Thailand. The instruments regarding teachers’ motivation in terms of intrinsic and external motivation, lesson implementation, and application of PE contents were adopted from Tulyakul (2019). The respondents were 157 pre-service PE teachers in five universities in the border provinces of Southern Thailand. The result shows that there is a relationship between intrinsic and external motivation towards lesson implementation and the application of PE contents among the participants. Finally, there are proposed guidelines for the pre-service PE teachers to adjust and develop their teaching performance to enhance students' achievement in the future

Background:Optimal levels of moderate-to-vigorous physical activity (MVPA) have been shown to improve health and academic outcomes in youth. Limited research has examined MVPA trajectories throughout a daily middle school physical education (PE) curriculum. The purpose of this study was to examine MVPA trajectories over a daily PE curriculum and the modifying effects of sex, body composition, and cardiorespiratory endurance. Methods:One hundred 7th- and 8th-grade students participated in daily PE lessons. There were 66 lessons throughout the semester. MVPA was monitored during each lesson using NL-1000 piezoelectric pedometers. Students were classified into FITNESSGRAM Healthy Fitness Zones using estimated VO2 Max and Body Mass Index (BMI). A population averaged generalized estimating equation was employed to examine MVPA trajectories. Results:On average, students’ MVPA decreased over time (β = –0.35, P < .001). Poor student VO2max classification significantly modified the trajectories (β = –0.14, P < .001), however poor BMI classification did not have a modifying effect (β = 0.03, P = .158).Conclusions:MVPA decreased in daily PE over time and cardiorespiratory endurance significantly modified the trajectories. The results support that extra efforts have to be made by teachers and students to sustain MVPA behaviors over a semester.

Abstract:
One of the main natural science education aims is the integral perception of the phenomena occurring in nature. Therefore, teachers have to be able to find and convey the pupils the links between separate natural sciences. For this, it is necessary to specially organise the teaching process itself, to prepare the teaching material. First of all, the material has to be distinguished which reflects interdisciplinary links, to choose the teaching forms, methods and ways. In the renewed natural science general programme, seeking to bring secondary education nearer to present day requirements and to improve pupils’ learning motivation, one of the most rapidly spreading science fields in the world – nanotechnology – is included. To what extent and how deep to analyse nanotechnologies, decides the teacher himself. Therefore, it is necessary for the teacher to be prepared to work in the constantly changing teaching environment, to be able to realise the newest interdisciplinary didactic principles, to use information communication technologies. By giving a sample lesson, natural science (physics, chemistry, biology) informatics and mathematics subject relation realisation didactic possibilities are revealed in the article. A sample scenario of the lesson Nanotechnologies: we produce a fullerene model, is presented. The lesson course is described, the tasks, integrating natural sciences, information technologies and mathematics are presented, extra tasks and the tasks for homework are foreseen.

In order to improve a classroom engagement in learning one specific lesson, for instance, in Management Information System (MIS) subject, certainly there is an extra effort need to be done. MIS originally is a quite technical lesson that requires adequate prior knowledge on Management and Information system. Clearly, MIS is something new for secretary study program students. As a lecturer, we need to shift from becoming the centre of learning rather than to lead students to become more active in the learning process (student - centered learning). In relation to that, a classroom action research (CAR) is needed urgently to help both lecturer and students running the class effectively. This time, the researcher tries to implement a Jigsaw learning type throughout two stages and phases. Hopefully, all students who learn one of MIS chapter which is about ‘The role of Information to increase product and service quality’ could understand the topic better than before using Jigsaw. Then, finally all secretary students who enrolled in this class could achieve a good mark in the final exam.

Abstract:
Currently, teachers’ salaries in Zimbabwe are insufficient to sustain the harsh economic situation yet teachers seem to be meeting their monthly livelihood demands. A study to explore different survival strategies engaged by teachers under this current flopping economy was conducted in the Gweru urban. A total of 55 participants were randomly selected from five different schools. Questionnaires and in-depth interviews were used to collect data. Descriptive statistics and Chi-Square test for association (SPSS version 21) were used to analyse the data. Findings revealed that teachers have adopted 15 survival strategies to augment their meagre salaries. Over 50% of the teachers indicated that borrowing money from banks/microfinance institutions, conducting extra lessons, poultry production, cross border trading, part-time teaching at private schools, production of horticultural produce and selling of goods (maputi “dried corn”, sweets, peanut butter, snacks etc...) were pillars to their survival in this collapsing economy. Gender influenced the adoption of cross border trading (χ2 = 4.558; p <0.05) and hair dressing (χ2 = 10.102; p <0.005). Delivery of extra lesson was significantly associated with job title (χ2 = 5.026; p <0.05) constituting 70% teachers and 20% headmasters. It was observed that teachers with higher qualifications had a greater chances of being hired as part time private tutors in private schools. A greater proportion of the respondents (70.91%) agreed that venturing into these survival strategies impacted seriously on pupils’ overall performance. Thus teachers are recommended to balance their profession and private business to ensure that pupils’ performance is not compromised.

One of the lessons for mental disorder students in Special Schools is practicum lessons in the form of vocational education. This lesson uses equipment that requires prudence. Mental disorder students have characteristics that are low memory and move based on intuition. Teachers should pay extra attention especially to detect student behavior during the learning. This detection is needed for learning to take place smoothly and students are safe from the dangers around the practicum place. Teacher's feedback on the detection obtained in the form of a warning from the teacher. This study is expected to be useful for providing a special detection pattern for students to assist teachers by providing feedback in the form of warnings using natural motion detection technology. This research was conducted using Kinect as data input and data was processed using artificial neural network and Learning Vector Quantization method. The dangerous attitude used in the test is the attitude of standing at the time of drilling position. The data used by training is 126 data and do training using LVQ. At the LVQ training stage, the training was conducted with parameter of Learning Rate 0,05, maximum Iteration 44, reduction of learning rate 0.01, and Learning rate minimum 0,02.

Abstract:
Aim/Purpose : To examine the use of a flipped classroom in the English Language subject in secondary classrooms in Hong Kong. Background: The research questions addressed were: (1) What are teachers’ perceptions towards the flipped classroom pedagogy? (2) How can teachers transfer their flipped classroom experiences to teaching other classes/subjects? (3) What are students’ perceptions towards the flipped classroom pedagogy? (4) How can students transfer their flipped classroom experiences to studying other subjects? (5) Will students have significant gain in the knowledge of the lesson topic trialled in this study? Methodology: A total of 57 students from two Secondary 2 classes in a Band 3 secondary school together with two teachers teaching these two classes were involved in this study. Both quantitative and quantitative data analyses were conducted. Contribution: Regarding whether the flipped classroom pedagogy can help students gain significantly in their knowledge of a lesson topic, only one class of students gained statistically significantly in the subject knowledge but not for another class. Findings: Students in general were positive about the flipped classroom. On the other hand, although the teachers considered that the flipped classroom pedagogy was creative, they thought it may only be useful for teaching English grammar. Recommendations for Practitioners: Teachers thought that flipping a classroom may only be useful for more motivated students, and the extra workload of finding or making suitable pre-lesson online videos is the main concern for teachers. Recommendations for Researchers: Both quantitative and qualitative analyses should be conducted to investigate the effectiveness of a flipped classroom on students’ language learning. Impact on Society : Teachers and students can transfer their flipped classroom experiences in English Language to teaching and studying other subjects. Future Research: More classes should be involved and a longer period of time should be spent on trial teaching in which a flipped classroom can be implemented in different lesson topics, not only teaching grammar. Teachers also need to determine if students can use the target language item in a task.

Abstract:
PurposeJapanese lesson study (LS) is a professional development (PD) approach in which teachers collaboratively plan a lesson, observe it being taught and then discuss what they have learned. LS's popularity as an approach to teacher PD in the UK is growing, and it is used in both special and mainstream settings. This study explores whether LS is perceived and operationalized in the same way across special and mainstream settings.Design/methodology/approachThis study arose as a result of collaboration between UCL Institute of Education academics (principle investigators) and three special school leaders using LS in their own schools (practitioner co-investigators), who together formed the research team. The team first explored the literature base for LS in special education. They then investigated special and mainstream schools using LS for teacher PD. Research tools included semi-structured interviews and an online survey. Participants were obtained through opportunistic sampling via the networks of schools available to the researchers.FindingsThere were several key differences between LS in special and mainstream settings. Special teachers felt LS had a more positive impact on subject knowledge than mainstream teachers, and this impact extended to support staff. Special teachers were more likely to carry out multiple research cycles than mainstream colleagues and to quickly build LS into the existing timetable. Mainstream teachers focused on individual pupils in LS to seek learning about pedagogy more generally, whereas general learning about pedagogy was seen as a secondary benefit to special teachers.Research limitations/implicationsOne of the limitations of the research is that participants are more positively inclined toward LS than the general population of their school, since those not interested in LS would be unlikely to take the time to engage with the research. It will be important to conduct more research into the use of LS in mainstream schools, as this study is one of very few exploring LS in this special context.Practical implicationsThe ease with which special schools can align LS to current practice due to greater flexibility of timetables and larger staff teams seems to result in a greater appreciation and “valuing” of the process in mainstream schools, where teachers seemed to feel their senior leadership teams had gone to extra lengths to enable LS to happen. LS seems to offer a framework within which senior leaders can prioritize such learning experiences for teachers, leading to positive benefits for pupils, teachers and the school, and is therefore a process worth considering both for special and mainstream school leaders.Originality/valueThe literature review found a limited number of studies of LS in a special educational needs and disability (SEND) context, all of which took place in the UK and focused on the impact of teacher participation in LS on teacher practice and pupil learning. All three studies show a positive impact and suggest that LS might have wider applications for both special schools and mainstream schools supporting SEND pupils. There has been no exploration of the different ways in which mainstream and special school teachers and pupils might experience or construct LS in their own contexts.

Abstract:
The student teacher usually learns their trade under the guidance of a mentor during teaching practice. Reflections usually take place after the mentor’s observation of the student´s lesson, and take the form of an interview between the two participants. Recently, video recordings have been used advantageously to add an extra dimension to such professional development. In the classroom, at the time of the lesson, future teachers may not notice certain events, but using video helps them review, and analyse their attributes, thereby making the reflective process more effective. The development of ‘professional vision’ consists of two processes: (1) noticing different events and (2) assessing and appraising themselves.1 This study analysed four written reflections (two pairs from each) from future biology teachers (n = 65) during their practice at ISCED 2 (International Standard Classification of Education 2 – lower secondary education, pupils from 11 to 15 years old) and at ISCED 3 (International Standard Classification of Education 3 - upper secondary education, pupils from 15 to 19 years old) schools. The first reflection in the pair (‘pre-reflection’) was written without video recordings, and the second (‘post-reflection’) with the support of video recordings. The reflections were divided into statements, and coded according to Sherin and van Es’ categorisation system. Statistically significant changes were found in several categories of professional vision in the students´ statements. During practice at ISCED 2 school (the first practice in the curriculum) students commented more often in the Self, Pedagogy, Management, Evaluate and Alteration categories in postreflection, and less in the Student, Curriculum, Subject, Climate and Describe categories. During (the second) practice at ISCED 3 school, students dealt more with Self and Alteration categories in post-reflection. These findings persuaded us that the use of two practices based on video-supported reflection of one’s own lessons is effective in prospective biology teachers’ development of their professional vision.Received: 28 May 2019Accepted: 08 November 2019Published online: 29 November 2019

There are numerous places in the calculus curriculum where students can discover important concepts. Some of these ideas are counterintuitive, while many others are very reasonable. Whenever possible, our students should go a little further than just settling for an answer. All too often they obtain an answer and simply leave it at that. or they might check to see if their answer matches the back of the book and then move on to the next problem. Instead, we must encourage them to analyze the result, checking for reasonableness. Is the answer in line with their expectations, or is it so counterintuitive that further exploration is required to determine why? In calculus, where many of the concepts are truly profound, this extra step is necessary for real understanding. Moreover, sometimes a secondary lesson can be learned, or at least verified, by looking at the results of a problem from several different perspectives.

Israel is a multi-cultural migration country and its education system face the challenges of equality and inclusion. This is comparative qualitative research based on a model that evaluates the development of intercultural competence. The purpose of the study is to examine the perceptions and attitudes of inter-cultural competence development in two groups of students, in which only one of them was involved in extra-curricular learning. The findings show differences between the two groups. Group A, had gained new knowledge in broader cultural contexts and had a deeper insight on creating a pluralistic professional identity, cultural-emotional commitment and strengthens the relationship between teaching and culture than the Group B. Moreover, the students in group A were more practical and dynamic and created a link between the content of the lesson and the children's origin culture. They allow discussion of controversial issues and encourage the children to share personal stories.

Abstract:
International Baccalaureate (IB) programmes are growing rapidly worldwide, driven in part by their global reputation and concept-driven, inquiry-based approach to teaching and learning. This thematic review of a range of literature sources examines the impact of IB programmes on teaching and learning, highlighting trends, challenges, and benefits. Findings of the review revealed that most of the studies, both qualitative and quantitative, examined stakeholders’ perspectives or self-reported experiences of IB programmes; a very small number used research designs that control for confounding factors or allow causal inferences to be drawn. A wide range of stakeholders report that IB programmes develop research and critical thinking skills, intercultural appreciation and global awareness, as well as cultivate collaborative working cultures and creative pedagogical practices among teachers. Challenges include extra demands on teachers for lesson planning and assessment, additional stress for teachers and students, and competing demands and expectations with national requirements. Recommendations are provided which may guide future research endeavours.

Abstract:
Purpose – Innovation in enhancing reflective abilities of trainee teachers was explored in this small-scale qualitative study. Opportunities for active engagement in peer- and self-reflection were provided to two cohorts of British Post-Graduate Physical Education trainee teachers (n=45: male=28, female=17), aged 21-30 years. Design/methodology/approach – Trainees were assigned a peer buddy, and tasked with the dual responsibility of being and having a training buddy for a lesson observation during two school placements. They visited each other's school and recorded their buddy teaching a lesson. Immediately afterwards, they watched the recording together, engaging in reflective discussion. Trainees acted as both a critical friend and a supportive extra pair of eyes, whilst also assuming the role of reflective practitioner. Data were collected through surveys, focus group interviews and individual reflections shared through an online discussion board. Grounded theory methodology informed an emergent model of reflective practice. Findings – By being and having a training buddy, trainees created their own rules, structures and practices for implementing the process. Themes pointed to a series of mutually created spaces: safe – non-judgemental and creating a sense of solidarity; relaxed – non-pressured and conversational; equal – involving participants at the same professional stage and status; pedagogic – involving the sharing of ideas; negotiated – allowing autonomy and ownership of the process; and alternative – experiencing a different school environment. Originality/value – Trainees endorsed the peer process, illustrating benefits derived from sharing reflection, giving and receiving feedback. It is suggested that collaborative spaces created and owned by training buddies enhance reflective ability and practice.

Abstract:
Currently, the government of Indonesia has implemented a computer-based test for the national examination for secondary schools in Indonesia. It is believed that the administration of computer-based national examination (CBNE) would address some challenges related to dishonesty and validity. The present study is aimed to investigate the teachers’ perception of the implementation of CBNE and its influence on the English teachers’ teaching process. This study employed a qualitative design in which semi-structured interviews and document analysis from the English teachers’ lesson plans were done to obtain comprehensive data. The analysis results revealed that the teachers held a positive view of the implementation of CBNE because it is effective and efficient in terms of the process, security, scoring, and cost-saving. Besides, the components of the teaching process influenced by the administration of CBNE were extra class, teaching materials, teaching methods, and teaching activities. However, the implementation of CBNE still led to several challenges in terms of technical problems and a lack of computer experts. Therefore, by conducting an internship with other supporting parties, those challenges would be minimized.

Abstract:
2013 curriculum of Indonesia has amended English as an extra-curricular or a local content subject at primary schools. There are no standards to achieve and the teachers have to find the appropriate strategies to its delivery. It triggers the teachers’ lack of confidence in terms of content and methods. On the other hand, cognitive domain with the test as achievement standard regardless providing the experience of using the language for communication has been practiced. Integrating the thematic units of primary schools’ thematic lesson seems possible to carry out because the teacher can use its themes or sub-themes as a topic for Teaching English to Young Learners (TEYL). This exploratory case study employs in-depth interviews with three teachers from well-established schools using a semi-structured interview, observations for field notes, and focus group discussion. The findings reveal that all teachers developed the materials for their teaching based on the regular class thematic lessons and a book provided by the local government. As for teaching practice, they have implemented the CLIL principles although they did not realize it. Ultimately, CLIL adaptation is appropriate for TEYL as that representative area in as much as teacher’s English language proficiency and pedagogical competency are upgraded. Highlights: Teaching English to Young Learners (TEYL) should provide the young learners opportunities to use the English language contextually. Soft CLIL does not require a high level of achievement in language but it provides the students simple language instruction with simplified materials.

Abstract:
We report a case of a 56-year-old woman who presented with clinical features suggestive of acute pancreatitis. She had a similar episode 5 years ago. A blood pressure (BP) recording of 80/50 mmHg in the presence of acute pancreatitis led to the diagnosis of circulatory shock and vasopressors were about to be commenced. However, her overall appearance was stable and measurement of BP in the lower limbs was normal. An angiogram revealed left subclavian artery stenosis which explained the low BP reading on left arm. The patient responded to conservative management of pancreatitis, however refused further evaluation of subclavian stenosis. This case is being reported to highlight a clinical dilemma and a clinical lesson. Dilemma arises if the pancreatitis and subclavian artery stenosis is just a coincidental occurrence or it is a case of IgG4 related disease consisting of autoimmune pancreatitis (AIP) type 1 with subclavian artery stenosis a part of extra-pancreatic manifestation of the IgG4 related disease spectrum. This distinction is important in management of pancreatitis and other organ involvement. It is important to examine a patient fully and especially the vascular system - wherein all pulses are to be felt and blood pressure recorded in both sides and both limbs - whenever there is a conflict between the condition/appearance of the patient and the signs that we elicit. In this case recognising that BP was normal in the lower limbs prevented unnecessary use of vasopressors.

ABSTRACT The Mentoring Program of the English Department of UMM is an extra-curricular program designed to assist first year students to practice their English speaking and independent study. The speaking skills are focused on two specific skills; presentation and debate skills; while the English independent study introduces students to various English learning activities students could potentially integrate in their daily lives. The current study employs document analysis and survey as the methods of data collection. Then, content analysis is used to identify the salient themes and patterns occurring from the data to be presented based on the research problems. Analysis of the data shows that the program ran as planned and that some mentors developed the prepared lesson plans. As for the program evaluation, analysis of the survey results show that, in general, the program was viewed positively by the students. Some strengths mentioned were that the module was helpful and informative and that the mentors were fun and motivating. As for the weaknesses, Saturday morning schedule was considered bad option and that outdoor venues were less conducive some times. In light of the evaluation, some suggestions for the future program are offered, such as to improve the timing and venues. Keywords: Mentoring, English Learning, Speaking, Independent Study

Abstract:
Learners in Vihiga County perform poorer in English language examinations than their peers in neighbouring counties; and their performance seems to be weaker in comprehension compared to grammar sections. The purpose of this study was to determine the influence of summarisation skills on learners’ achievement in reading comprehension in Vihiga County. The Solomon Four-Group Design was applied to obtain primary data from 279 primary school learners and 8 teachers in 2017. Multiple linear regression was also applied to generate two models, one for the experimental group and one for the control group. In both models, summarisation skills influenced learners’ achievement in reading comprehension positively, and the effect was significant at 90% confidence level; thus, leading to rejection of the null hypothesis. However, the effect seemed to be stronger in the experimental than in the control group, which suggests that training English language teachers on how to correctly apply summarisation skills impacted on learners’ achievement in reading comprehension. Based on the findings, it’s concluded that: training teachers of English language on the correct procedures for activating learners’ summarisation skills is likely to add value by making them more effective in lesson delivery. Such training is likely to inspire teachers to go an extra mile in their efforts to activate learners’ summarisation skills.

The first step in making decision of intra-cranial tumors is the location of tumor, whether intra- or extra-axial. After localized the lesion we make differential diagnosis that relevant to the location. Once we made the decision, we make the characterization of the tumors. With MRI it is easier to make this decision compared to CT.Meningiomas constitute the most common extra-axial tumors of the brain. Contrast-enhanced MRI can easily detect the location of the tumor, the full extension of the tumor, sinus invasion and/or thrombosis, vascularity, intra-cranial edema, and intra-osseous extension. WHO grades meningiomas in 3 types which are typical, atypical, and malignant meningioma. With structural MRI, MR Spectroscopy, MR perfusion and some methods we can grade this type.Tumors of neurogenic origin such as schwannomas, neurofibromas, neuromas may be similar in appearance. MRI can help distinguishing these tumors with meningiomas. Another extra-axial lesion located in bone or arachnoid is metastases. Contrast-enhanced T2-FLAIR can easily detect these lesions, but inflammatory lesions may also simulate dural metastase. Other extra-axial tumors are choroid plexus masses, non-neoplastic masses (epidermoids, dermoids, teratomas, lipomas). The location as well as specific appearances on imaging will guide us to a specific diagnosis.

Abstract:
ABSTRACT Context: Extra-nasal rhinosporidiosis is not uncommon in endemic region like India. Clinical presentations of extra-nasal rhinosporidiosis lesion often lead to diagnostic dilemma. Cytology can help in the preoperative diagnosis of such lesions. Aims: The aims of our study were to find the clinico-pathological presentation of extra-nasal rhinosporidiosis and to evaluate the role of cytology in diagnosing these lesions preoperatively. Settings and Design: Fine-needle aspiration cytology is often used for preoperative diagnosis of sub-cutaneous lesions of the head and neck region. This retrospective study was designed to include the cytologically diagnosed cases of rhinosporidiosis and to compare with final histopathology of the lesions. Materials and Methods: A total of 21 cases of extra-nasal rhinosporidiosis were diagnosed in our study period of 18 months. Cytology was approached in 17 cases and 16 cases were diagnosed as rhinosporidiosis, which were included in the study group. Twelve cases were sampled by fine-needle aspiration and four cases by scrap technique. Histopathological confirmation was possible in all cytologically diagnosed cases. Results: Head and neck region were involved in 15 cases and only one case was on the skin of right upper arm. Orbital region was the most common extra-nasal site of involvement. Most of the cases (13 cases, 81.25%) belonged to the age group of 11-30 years. All cytologicaly diagnosed cases of rhinosporidiosis were concordant with histopathology. Only one false-negative case was cytologically diagnosed as suppurative inflammatory lesion. Sensitivity and specificity of cytology in diagnosis of extra-nasal rhinosporidiosis were 94.11% and 100% respectively. Conclusions: Extra-nasal rhinosporidiosis is an important differential diagnosis of nodular, polypoid mass of head-neck-face region. Cytology can be used as an important tool in preoperative diagnosis of extra-nasal rhinosporidiosis.

Abstract:
Abstract Introduction. Physical activity is fundamental to children's all-round development in the first six years of their life. It is particularly significant in preschool age, when the need for movement is predominant. Psychomotor development, conditioned by children's innate abilities and their own activity, depends upon the influence of external surroundings as well as parental upbringing and preschool education. The aim of the study was to obtain data regarding physical activity (both structured and unstructured) of children during their stay in a kindergarten. Material and methods. The study was conducted in five state kindergartens situated in four main housing estates of Bia³a Podlaska. It included 11 groups of older preschool children. It was a diagnostic study. A diagnostic poll method employed in the study included interviews with teachers, lesson observations (during one day) and document analyses (programmes and class registers). Results. During their stay in a kindergarten children take part in physical activities for 1.5 hours a day. During this period they participate in obligatory forms of physical activity such as morning gymnastics, movement plays, outdoor activities and gymnastic exercises. Furthermore, optional movement activities are organised in kindergartens (different forms in different kindergartens). Such extra classes enable children to be physically active for over two more hours per week. Conclusions. In terms of caring about health and motor development of children, not all elements of preschool education programmes are fully realised. Training sessions, workshops and lectures showing diverse forms of physical activity for children ought to be organised for preschool teachers.

Abstract:
Offering private tutoring (PT) to their students is legal in Cambodia. However, teachers are banned from engaging in PT during official hours and holidays. Literature has proven common root causes across contexts such as low salaries, class size, insufficient instructional times and high-stakes examinations. With a new attempt, this narrative paper aims to discuss PT and its effects from the different stakeholders’ perspectives and to reflect PT functions towards mainstream education. On the one hand, symbiosis generates a ‘dependency system,’ divided into two relationships such as ‘commensalism’ between PT and the mainstream system, and ‘mutualism’ between supply and demand side including the mainstream system. On the other hand, parasitism (professional misconduct) exists owing to policy implementers’ laissez-faire approach in exercising the approved codes of conducts. Hence, the parasitism remains in the public classrooms owing to the lack of accountability and monitoring system of the in-charge stakeholders. Its presence enlarges the capacity of the dependency system to cast a shadow over the incomplete shape and size of the mainstream system. Thus, it should be alerted that when it is oversized, this symbiotic function may downplay the mainstream system and moves it away from the core attention of the demand side. Abstract:
Background: Recently (in 2018), females were legally allowed to drive and use automobiles in Saudi Arabia (SA) for the first time. This study investigated and analyzed the general fear of driving (GFDS), perceived self-confidence (PSCR), socio-economic variables, demographic distribution, and self-reported RTCs in novice female drivers from SA. Methods: The work was based on survey responses from 9608 participants from the first generation of female drivers from SA. Factor analysis was used to extract GFDS and PSCR scales. Results: Cronbach’s α values of 0.781 and 0.800 were observed for GFDS and PSCR, respectively. Logistic regression was employed to model road traffic collisions (RTCs) as a function of all significant variables. The results showed that of the 17.4% of geographically distributed respondents who reported RTCs, only 4% reported severe or minor injuries, and the rest (96.0%) of the accidents involved property damage. The GFDS and PSCR values showed a positive association with the RTCs of novice female drivers. Furthermore, age was not a significant influencing factor in the RTCs of novice female drivers. However, exposure factors were positively associated with the risk of RTC involvement. Conclusions: Female novice drivers who were single, divorced/widowed, employed, and had higher individual incomes were at higher risk of getting into RTCs. The female drivers who hired personal trainers, compared to those who did not, exhibited similar chances of getting involved in RTCs. An extra on-road in-traffic driving lesson is suggested to be included in the new-driver license training program for drivers with higher GFDS in SA.

Abstract:
Objectives: In patients with suspicious bone metastasis, differential diagnosis and primary lesion identification is very important in optimizing treatment planning. The study was aimed to assign a step-wise approach based on image findings to identify the precise role of PET-CT in these patients. Patients and Methods: A total of 74 patients were enrolled with suspicious bone metastasis who underwent PET-CT for the evaluation of primary focus. Patients were classified into four groups with stepwise manners, firstly based on FDG positivity of bone lesions, then on multiplicity of positive bone uptake and finally on presence of extra-skeletal uptake. We analyzed the difference of distribution of follow-up results according to each group. In addition, we also investigated whether PET-CT had a role to guide biopsy sites. Results: Except for 7 patients without bone or extra-skeletal uptake, 44 patients were categorized in multiple bone and extra-skeletal uptake group (A), 12 in multiple bone uptake without extra-skeletal uptake group (B), 3 in single bone and extra-skeletal uptake group (C) and 8 in single bone uptake without extra-skeletal uptake group (D). In group A, 42/44 patients had metastatic bone disease; where primary lesion was correlating extra-skeletal uptake in 40 (91.0%) cases. Among the 12 patients of group B, 5 (41.7%) had primary malignant bone disease, 3 (25.0%) had benign bone lesions and 4 (33.3%) had metastatic bone disease but PET-CT failed to indicate the primary site. In group C, PET-CT positive extra-skeletal uptake sites were confirmed as primary lesions in all the 3 patients. Among the 8 patients of group D, 5 (62.5%) were benign bone disease, one (12.5%) was high grade sarcoma and the remaining two (25.0%) were metastatic bone disease where PET-CT failed to identify primary site. Additionally, there was significant (P = 0.0003) difference in prevalence of biopsy sites performed according to the presence of extra-skeletal uptake in PET-CT. Conclusion: Clinical impact of PET-CT was different according to groups classified with stepwise manners, which suggested that different strategies should be taken especially when there was not extra-skeletal uptake to optimize management plan. PET-CT also had a significant role in patients with extra-skeletal uptake lesion through guidance of easily approachable biopsy sites. Bangladesh J. Nuclear Med. 22(2): 95-102, Jul 2019

Abstract:
The benefits from doing this analytical study in order to be able to measure and predict the frictional forces affecting a drill string and wellbore (Torque and drag) by construct model of well plan software, hence; the high deviated and directional wells must be planned to keep the torque and drag forces at a minimum and allowable limit. Also, knowledge of the drill string phenomena can give us an opportunity to choose drill string components that consider these extra forces involved in the operations "high torque and drag values" in directional sections. In addition to knowledge of influence torque and drag on planned well trajectory can give us a good idea and lesson learned to consider this challenges in the next planned well profile. As a result of well path design one of the best ways to reduce torque and drag forces. One deviated well in Zubair oil field named, ZB-348 have been selected for analyses torque and drag problems and study the effect of (friction factor, well profile and drill string design) on the mentioned problem. Well data include hole section size, fluid properties, well profile survey, rig specification, drill string details and drilling parameters were used in well plan software from landmark worldwide programming group to make a comparison between actual and planning status. The results show a difference between planning and actual case when drilling 12.25" hole and found the root causes for this difference are high flow rate, tortuosity, well bore instability and complete losses. The maximum torque about (20 klb-ft) and drag value approximately (30 klb).
