Den här rapporten beskriver utvecklingen av en applikation för Windows 8 och Windows Phone 8 där fokus ligger på multiplattformsutveckling. Applikationen använder sig av Svenska Kyrkans API för att visa information om kyrkoåret på ett lättförståeligt och smidigt sätt. I rapporten behandlas även verktyg och metoder för att underlätta utvecklingen av Windowsapplikationer. Syftet med projektet är att förstå principerna med att utveckla för multiplattformar och få fram en så bra lösning som möjligt där maximalt med kod delas mellan projekten.

Abstract:
Användare kan idag boka taxi via TaxiCaller på webben, iPhone och Android. De vill även finnas på Windows Phone 8 och därmed stödja de tre största smartphoneplattformarna. Den här rapporten syftar till att undersöka hur en applikation kan utvecklas med hjälp av ett användarcentrerat arbetssätt för att uppnå hög användbarhet. Prototyping, card sort, användbarhetskrav är några av de metoder som tillämpats. Rapporten beskriver metoderna genom dess teori, hur de tillämpats i projektet samt dess resultat. Det grundläggande genomförandet var att samla in användarinformation för att sedan utveckla en prototyp som testades på användare. Sedan gjordes en ny prototyp utifrån resultatet från användartestet och denna process itererade fram fyra prototyper. Användbarhetsproblem från testerna samt tid för genomförande av specificerad uppgift redogörs. Resultatet är en prototyp för Windows Phone 8 som nästintill är helt färdig för publicering. Användartest är den metod som haft mest påverkan på resultatet av applikationen. Varje test har frambringat problem med användbarheten som sedan har kunnat åtgärdas för att förbättra applikationen. Med tanke på utvärderingar och de krav som specificerades är jag nöjd med resultatet som bland annat är avskalat och grafiskt tilltalande samtidigt som den önskade funktionaliteten från TaxiCaller är implementerad.

Abstract:
The main objective of this diploma thesis is to design and develop a cloud hosted service that allows developers of games for Windows Phone 7 platform to extend their products with social and competitive aspect using Platform as a Service solution Windows Azure for hosting the backend of this system. The first part of the thesis analyses systems that are available on the market and that are providing similar services for the target platform. Based on this analysis, functional and general requirements for the future application are specified in the second part. Based on these requirements, use case analysis is made. The third part of the thesis is dedicated to description of the most important features, APIs and specifics of the Windows Phone 7 software platform. The fourth part is dedicated to Windows Azure as a Cloud platform both in terms of most important services, their characteristics and APIs used to utilise them and in terms of their business and pricing conditions. The fifth part addresses the architecture and the most important implementation details of the application. The final part contains the user guide for both the Windows Phone 7 application and for developers interested in using the library containing the API during the development of their game. The output of this thesis is the designed and implemented application with client-server architecture ready to have its backend deployed in Windows Azure environment and to have its frontend deployed on Windows Phone 7 devices. The client part of the system is comprised of a library intended for developers of games, which encapsulates the API needed to access the backend on the Internet, and a graphic frontend intended for end users. The server part, which contains most of the application logic, has REST interface. The applications architecture allows future development in terms of new functionality and expansion on more client platforms.

Projektet som denna rapport beskriver hade som målsättning att utveckla två applikationer på beställning av företaget Teknikhuset Umeå. En av dessa applikationer skulle vara till Windows 8 plattformen och den andra till Windows Phone 8 plattformen. Applikationernas syfte var att ge användaren information om högtider från kyrkoåret med hjälp av information hämtad från Svenska Kyrkans kalender API (se Henrik Johanssons rapport). Denna rapport beskriver utformandet av användargrässnitten till dessa två plattformar. Syftet med rapporten är att undersöka hur utvecklaren kan bygga ett optimalt användargränssnitt för respektive plattform och samtidigt undersöka om det finns likheter i dessa två utvecklingsprocesser. Om likheter i utvecklingsprocessen observeras så kommer dessa dokumenteras för att i framtiden kunna effektivisera utvecklingsprocessen för applikationer avsedda för dessa två plattformar. Förutom att beskriva utformandet av gränssnitten så beskriver rapporten också relevanta delar av plattformarnas respektive användargränssnitt så att läsaren kan förstå resonemanget bakom de beslut som tagits vid utformandet av användargränssnittet. Projektet resulterade i två användarvänliga användargränssnitt, ett till en Windows Phone 8 applikation och ett till en Windows 8 applikation.

Abstract:
Jag har gjort mitt examensarbete på Synaptic AB i Stockholm. Synaptic är ett konsultföretag som jobbar mycket med Microsofts produkter och med mobila lösnignar. De har ett system där alla konsulter redovisar sin tid. Detta system har tidigare bara haft ett webbgränssnitt, men det har inte vart så praktiskt som man skulle önska. Mitt uppdrag har vart att utöka detta system med mobila klienter för att göra det lättare och snabbare för konsulterna att redovisa sin tid. Dessa applikationer har fått namnet Synaptic Time. Idag har detta system tre mobila klienter, en till varje av de vanligaste mobila plattformarna. En till Android, en andra till Windows Phone 7 och en tredje till iPhone/iOS5. Dessa har gjorts som tre fristående applikationer. Det vill säga att jag inte gjort någon generell lösning i HTML5 eller dylikt som körs på alla tre plattformar. Jag har då lärt mig att göra applikationer till alla tre enheter. Alla applikationer har samma grundläggande funktionalitet. Skapa nya poster, översikt per vecka, och ett läge för att ta tid när man jobbar som underlättar när man jobbar med flera olika projekt. Alla applikationer är publicerade på respektive marknad. Google Play, Windows Market och App Store.

This thesis deals with the detection of Uniform Marker Fields and the position of a camera in a space. The steps of the UMF detection, the Windows Phone 8 platform, DirectX working and the concept of augmented reality are described in the thesis. Implementation and design of the demo application together with the whole architecture of the project is described in the thesis. The result of the thesis is an application using the UMF detector and plotting a 3D object into a scene. Finally the application is tested and evaluated.

Thesis describes programming of 3D applications, mainly games, on Windows Phone 7 platform and lightly compares this approach with Silverlight platform. It also describes XNA framework in detail and programming plane simulators problems. In the second part of this thesis, reader can find complete description of implementation of a simple airplane simulation for Windows Phone 7 platform, which is based on the XNA framework. The game consists of implementation of terrain, sky, plane, scene and also of physics and the principle of the game.

Abstract:
Fler människor börjar använda olika mobila operativsystem i mobiltelefonen samt appar som enbart fungerar på plattformen. Det leder till att app-leverantörer måste utveckla varje app till varje specifik plattform vilket är dyrt. De vanligaste operativsystemen som används idag är Android samt IOS men hösten 2012 släpptes Windows Phone 8 vilket innebär ytterligare en plattform att ta hänsyn till. I sammarbete med företaget Sogeti Jönköping fokuserar studien på att hitta en metod som gör det möjligt att migrera appar mellan plattformar och till Windows Phone 8. Studien innefattar också att identifiera för och nackdelar med olika app-typer genom en litteraturstudie och intervjuer samt att testa om migrationsmetoderna fungerar praktisk genom en implementation. Resultatet har påvisat att det finns två stycken olika metoder för migration vilket är PhoneGap och Xamarin. Genom implementationstester har Xamarin visat sig vara mest lämplig att använda i ett framtida större app-projekt.
More people are starting to use different mobile operating systems in their mobile phones and apps that only work on the specific platform. This leads to app-developers must develop each app on each specific platform which is expensive. The most common operating systems today are Android and iOS, but during fall of 2012 Windows Phone 8 was released, which means yet another platform to consider. In cooperation with the company Sogeti Jönköping this study focuses on finding a method that makes it possible to migrate applications between platforms and Windows Phone 8. The study also includes identifying the pros and cons of different app-types through a literature review and interviews, as well as testing whether the migration methods work through a practical implementation. The results have shown that there are two different solutions to migration which is PhoneGap and Xamarin. Through implementation tests Xamarin was the most suitable for future app-projects.

This thesis has been performed at consulting firm Sweco Position in Jönköping. The thesis is divided into two main sections: theoretical and practical. The theoretical section contains an investigation into the possibilities of implementing a geographical information system (GIS) for administrations of wells with the integration of Bing Maps for Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8. The practical work comprises the development of a prototype for Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8. The students review the Model-View-ViewModel-pattern on a theoretical basis, compares the differences between Windows 8 Pro and Windows RT. The thesis also contains and investigation into the pros and cons of a web based application compared to a native one. The result of the thesis will be comprised of a GIS-service developed in C# in co-operation with XAML with the options of saving data locally and a WMS-based service layer for Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8.
Detta examensarbete har utförts på konsultbolaget Sweco Position i Jönköping. Arbetet har varit uppdelat i två större delar: teoretiskt och praktiskt arbete. Teoretiska delen omfattade en utredning kring möjligheterna att implementera ett geografiskt informationssystem (GIS) för administration av brunnar med hjälp av Bing Maps tillsammans med Windows 8 och Windows Phone 8. Abstract:

Password-based logon schemes have many security weaknesses. Smart card and biometric based authentication solutions are available as a replacement for standard password-based schemes for security sensitive environments. However, the cost of deployment and maintenance of these systems is quite high. On the other hand, mobile network operators have a huge base of deployed smart cards that can be reused to provide authentication in other areas significantly reducing costs.

This master’s thesis presents a study of how the workstation identity management can be made more secure and user-friendly by using a mobile phone in the Windows workstation logon process. Two workstation logon schemes that utilize both the mobile phone and the UICC inside of the phone are proposed as a result of this study.

The first scheme emulates a smart card reader and a smart card in order to interoperate with the Windows smart card framework to provide PKI-based logon. The mobile phone with the UICC card emulates a smart card that communicates with the emulated smart card reader via protected Bluetooth channel.

The proposed scheme reuses the Windows smart card infrastructure as much as possible, both in terms of software and hardware. Therefore, a seamless integration with Active Directory and Window server is achieved. This scheme can work with any authentication scheme used with real smart cards. It can be used not only for the logon but also for all other functions typically done with smart cards (e.g. signing of documents, e-mails).

In the second scheme, the mobile phone with the UICC serves as a token for generating OTP values based on a shared secret key and the time parameter.

In order to design Windows logon architectures based on mobile phones, a study of relevant technologies, components, and their security aspects has been conducted. Existing phone-based authentication schemes have been thoroughly studied both from the usability and from the security points of view. This has been done to understand possible alternatives for different aspects of the architectures that were designed.

The thesis analyzed how new authentication schemes in general and those that work with mobile phones in particular could be integrated into the Windows logon system. A conclusion is made that it is impossible to make a generic architecture that would easily support all existing and possible future mobile phone authentication schemes for the Windows logon. Windows is already a highly customizable environment and can support virtually any authentication scheme for the logon, though a considerable amount of modifications may be required to implement a particular scheme.

Abstract:
The thesis of this dissertation is that, despite widespread belief in the security community, systems are still vulnerable to attacks from malicious peripherals delivered over the PCI Express (PCIe) protocol. Malicious peripherals can be plugged directly into internal PCIe slots, or connected via an external Thunderbolt connection. To prove this thesis, we designed and built a new PCIe attack platform. We discovered that a simple platform was insufficient to carry out complex attacks, so created the first PCIe attack platform that runs a full, conventional OS. To allows us to conduct attacks against higher-level OS functionality built on PCIe, we made the attack platform emulate in detail the behaviour of an Intel 82574L Network Interface Controller (NIC), by using a device model extracted from the QEMU emulator. We discovered a number of vulnerabilities in the PCIe protocol itself, and with the way that the defence mechanisms it provides are used by modern OSs. The principal defence mechanism provided is the Input/Output Memory Management Unit (IOMMU). The remaps the address space used by peripherals in 4KiB chunks, and can prevent access to areas of address space that a peripheral should not be able to access. We found that, contrary to belief in the security community, the IOMMUs in modern systems were not designed to protect against attacks from malicious peripherals, but to allow virtual machines direct access to real hardware. We discovered that use of the IOMMU is patchy even in modern operating systems. Windows effectively does not use the IOMMU at all; macOS opens windows that are shared by all devices; Linux and FreeBSD map windows into host memory separately for each device, but only if poorly documented boot flags are used. These OSs make no effort to ensure that only data that should be visible to the devices is in the mapped windows. We created novel attacks that subverted control flow and read private data against systems running macOS, Linux and FreeBSD with the highest level of relevant protection enabled. These represent the first use of the relevant exploits in each case. In the final part of this thesis, we evaluate the suitability of a number of proposed general purpose and specific mitigations against DMA attacks, and make a number of recommendations about future directions in IOMMU software and hardware.

Making an application user-friendly is a key goal when it comes to the experience it intends to deliver. There are numerous factors that have to be taken into account when a design is developed. One of those is simplicity. The application has to be simple enough to ensure the expected user experience. This is often solved by applying instructions. To what extent does the application have to mediate instructions of functionality to the user? That question is the underlying purpose of this thesis. The thesis studies three common ways of presenting instructions to arrive at a concluding result: the use of a popup window, an added information button to the design or relying on the design to present itself. The gathered results show a need for instructions to ensure a user-friendly environment. A further analysis of the results concludes that presenting instructions using an information button is the most prominent option.

This thesis deals with developing applications on Windows Phone 7. The application focuses on two main target groups; cyclists and individuals who are confined to wheelchairs. Application offers the possibility of navigating around the city and over difficult terrain, and is divided into two parts - the client side application, and server side application. Development of the server side application will be analyzed in the thesis Development of map application for tracking in cloud - Server side on Windows Azure, by Vojtech Ruzicka. The primary objective of this thesis is to offer new solutions for development on Windows Phone 7, with attention being given to the communication between client and server. The second objective is to provide the public with the free application, which will help cyclists and handicapped individuals to navigate through cities around the world. The primary goal of this thesis will be achieved by identifying any problems that may arise during development, whereby a simplified description of the problem will be formed and a solution provided. Realization of the second goal will be in the use of application by the public, by providing them with an efficient means of increasing their mobility throughout their surroundings.

The aim of this work is to analyse the decisions of mobile application security and to provide recommendations and methods according to the results of the analysis of adaptation of mobile applications security solutions to operating systems. The paper aims to provide the ways how to improve mobile application security for users and companies. In the first part the threats for mobile application security in various operating systems are reviewed and analysed. The paper discusses and analyses the weak points of Android, iOS, and Windows Phone and compares their weakest points among the three. It also gives the analysis of the testing tools used for mobile means as well as the examination of their safety in the levels of a net, a tool and applications. The second part presents the analysis of possibilities and ways of mobile applications testing, as well as the classified tools created for the protection from mobile applications threats. The project part of the paper summarises and formulates mobile application safety recommendations according to the main operating systems, and gives these recommendations to users and creators of mobile applications.

Abstract:
Šiuo metu viena iš labiausiai bei sparčiausiai besivystančių technologijos krypčių yra mobiliesiems telefonams, planšetiniams kompiuteriams bei multimedijos įrenginiams skirta programinė įranga. Vartotojų susidomėjimas šia sritimi bei mobiliųjų įrenginių techninės įrangos tobulėjimas skatina vis daugiau IT kompanijų plėtoti savo veiklą šioje srityje. Viena iš didžiausių klaidų, kurias yra sunkiausia ištaisyti, yra pirminėje projekto stadijoje neteisingai pasirinktos technologijos. Šiame darbe apžvelgiamos ir palyginamos trijų populiariausių, į mobiliuosius įrenginius diegiamų operacinių sistemų: Android, iOS bei Windows Phone programų kūrimo sąsajos ir nustatomi jų privalumai bei trūkumai. Vertinimai yra atliekami atsižvelgiant į operacinės sistemos architektūrą, programų kūrimo įrankius, suderinamumą su technine įranga, programų derinimo galimybėmis, saugumo užtikrinimu, grafinės vartotojo sąsajos kūrimu, daugiakalbystės palaikymu, animacijos, garsų bei video medžiagos pateikimu, HTML turinio atvaizdavimu, integracija su žemėlapiais, vartotojo buvimo vietos nustatymu, sensorių bei tinklų pasiekiamumu, foninių procesų kūrimu, duomenų išsaugojimo bei apsikeitimo su kitomis programomis galimybėmis. Tyrimo metu nustatyta, kad Android turi geriausias sąsajas kurti foninius procesus bei integruotis su kitomis programomis. iOS turi geriausius įrankius bei grafinės vartotojo sąsajos kūrimo priemones, o Windows Phone turi patogiausia karkasą darbui su multimedija, žemėlapiais bei... At a present time, one of the most developing area of technology is software for mobile phones, tablets and multimedia devices. Growing numbers of users and improved hardware makes more and more companies to expand their activity in this market. One of the biggest mistakes, that is very hard to solve, is badly chosen technologies in a beginning stage of the projects. The main objective of this project is to compare three of the most popular operating systems Android, iOS and Windows Phone software development kits and to determinate their advantages and disadvantages. Analysis is made based on operating system architecture, tools, compatibility with hardware, debugging, security, graphical user interface, multilanguage support, animation, sounds, video, HTML preview, interaction with maps and user location, sensors, networks, background processes, data persistence and integration with another software. In this research was identified that Android has best interfaces to create background processes and share data between programs. iOS has best tools and components for graphical user interface and Windows Phone has best framework to work with multimedia, maps and user location services.

Abstract:
The most common types of smartphones in Sweden are iPhone and Android. Development in the IT feld is constantly changing and Windows Phone is a new operating system that has been introduced on the Swedish market in 2010. However, Windows Phone user interface is quite different from iPhone and Android. The numbers of applications for smartphones are increasing, and users are making greater demands on better  usability. Users want the application to be easy to understand and fast to bring into play.  If the application contains a bug or has other user problems, it can ruin the entire experience. If the user does not have a good experience of the application, the user will quickly stop using the application. Companies that do not have any mobile applications would probably begin with an iPhone application. As a second step, they want to transfer the iPhone application to an Android and then maybe also to Windows Phone. All three platforms have different interface and different development environments. This means that in order to create the same experience for the user the concept and interface has to be adapted to the specifc platform. To show what is important in the development of software and demonstrate  how an application can appear in Windows Phone a major Swedish four brand named Kungsörnen has been chosen and their application Bakfickan as a prototyp for Windows Phone today. Bakfickan is a recipe application only available for iPhone and Android. The goal for the transformation of Bakfickan to Windows Phone is that the new application should have as good usability as the present versions for iPhone and Android. In this project an expert review and several user tests were made on Bakfickan iPhone to see what worked well and what could be improved. Based on these results Bakfickan was developed for Windows Phone. Furthermore, a new expert review and multiple user tests were made on Bakfickan Windows Phone to find out if the usability was good. The study also indicates that it is possible to redo an existing application to a new environment as Windows Phone with relatively simple methods. However, it requires that the work is done in close contact with the users in order to provide the best possible user experience.

Abstract:
Responsive design is a common expression at the web today. This thesis was about learning about responsive web design in order to apply it to Windows 8 applications created in C# and XAML. The purpose of this thesis was to learn if responsive design can be used in such applications. This was done by first learning about responsive design through a literature study about responsive web design and then specifying responsive application design. How responsive design can be used in applications was found through research and creation of an example application. No literature was found about responsive design for Windows 8 applications in C# and XAML and therefore most of the results came from own ideas and partly solutions found on different forums. The thesis was performed at Infor in Kista. The example application was a social application which was connected to a social web service developed by Infor. Responsive web design is a technique used for making webpages adapt to the size and resolution of the viewport. This is done by creating a structured, fluid layout by using a flexible grid and flexible images. Media queries are used to set up different states for presenting the page in different ways for different sizes and resolutions of the viewport. In the different states parts of the content can for example be hidden or styled. The number of columns of information can also be set to adapt to make the page easier to view. Responsive design for applications should make the layout of the application adapt to fit the application window of the device used depending on its resolution. One way to specify a responsive design for Windows 8 applications could be to create only one application which could be used on all different Windows 8 platforms, such as phones, tablets and computers. It is probably not possible today to create this one application for different Windows 8 platforms. Another way of specifying responsive design for application is to create a responsive user interface which could be shared and used in the different Windows 8 applications. The latter was the chosen definition for this thesis. The scope of this thesis was limited to only research for responsive design in Windows Store apps and Windows Phone 8 applications. Windows Phone 8 applications are applications used on smartphones with Windows Phone 8 as operating system while Windows Store applications are used on computers with Windows 8 as operating system. Other Windows 8 devices were not included in this thesis. The final conclusion of this thesis was that although it is complicated to use responsive application design it can be used for most of the user interface. A responsive user interface for the applications can be created separately, but some parts of the application pages cannot be shared between the different platforms. This results in a mostly responsive sharable user interface.

Den här studien undersöker för- och nackdelar med att migrera existerande mobilaapplikationer till Xamarins crossplatform ramverk Xamarin Forms. Metoden somanvänts för att samla in data är inom ramen för forskningsparadigmet Design Science.En prototyp har utvecklats med syftet att undersöka vad som är möjligt att migrera tillXamarin Forms. Prototyputvecklingen har dokumenterats i loggböcker som sedananalyserats som kvalitativ data. Två intervjuer har även genomförts med andraxamarinutvecklare med syftet att nå en djupare förståelse för ämnet. Studien harproducerat ett flödesschema för när ett beslut om att migrera en existerande applikationtill Xamarin Forms bör tas. Vid beslut om migration har vi även formulerat ett antalriktlinjer som bör efterföljas för att uppnå bra resultat. Flödesschemat och riktlinjerna ärbaserade på resultaten från analysen av loggböckerna och intervjuerna.
This study investigates the pros and cons of migraiting existing mobile applications toXamarins crossplatform framework Xamarin Forms. The method that is being used tocollect data is within the scope of the research paradigm Design Science. A prototype ofan existing mobile application has been developed in order to research the possibilitiesof migraiting existing applications to Xamarin Forms. The development process of theprototype has been documented in journals which later were to be analyzed asqualitative data. Two interviews have been done with other Xamarin developers in orderto get a deeper understanding of the subject. This study produced a flowchart that is tobe used when deciding about a migration of an existing mobile application aswell asguidelines for the migration itself. The flowchart and guidelines are based on analyzingthe data from our journals aswell as our interviews with other developers.

The main objective of this thesis is to introduce the Windows Azure platform, its possibilities and limits, particularly with regard to interaction with mobile clients running on the Windows Phone 7 platform. This is demonstrated by the development of an application designed to ease navigation through difficult terrain. This application is primarily designed to help cyclists and people with handicap restricting their movement. The knowledge acquired through design and implementation of this application is generalized to be useful for other developers using Windows Azure. The application is developed with focus on the usefulness for the defined target groups. This thesis is focused on the server side of the application running on the Windows Azure platform. The client side of the application running on the Windows Phone 7 platform is not covered in this thesis and is described in detail by Bc. Calculations have been a core part of business processes in several industries throughout the years. To streamline the process of calculations, companies seek to digitize their calculation tools to web-based calculation tools. There is currently a lack of studies regarding the performance of web-based calculation tools, and since technology changes occur rapidly, which leads to comparative studies becoming outdated, the availability of actual and relevant research regarding performance comparisons between web-development frameworks becomes imperative. The purpose of this study was to compare ASP.NET with Node.js Express performance-wise, while implemented as web-based calculation tools. The calculations implemented were placed in both the backend and frontend of ASP.NET and Node.js Express. This study consists of experimentation, presenting the experiment results, and analyzing the results to conclude the research questions of this study. The results showed that Node.js Express was the better framework performance-wise and the analysis explains why. This study also concluded that the backend was better performing than the frontend for calculations in ASP.NET, and that the frontend was better performing than the backend for calculations in Node.js Express.

Kriminalvården är den myndighet i Sverige som ansvarar för fängelser, häkten och frivård. Myndigheten har länge känt ett behov att inom flera verksamheter kunna få tillgång till delmängder av deras klientsystem i ett mobilt och uppkopplat format. Det största hindret i deras fall med mobilitet och applikationsteknik var säkerheten. Därför genomfördes en riskanalys med hänsyn till frivården och mobilapplikationsteknik. För att välja en lämplig och passande riskanalysmetod jämförde vi ett antal metoder. Det visade sig att metoden CORAS passade bäst. När vi väl genomfört riskanalysen med CORAS försökte vi sedan matcha åtgärderna mot de olika mobilplattformarnas egenskaper för att se hur de kan fullfölja åtgärderna. Mobilplattformarna vi undersökte var Android, Windows Phone 8 och iOS. Resultatet av riskanalysen och jämförelsen av plattformar kan ligga som grund till beslut hos Kriminalvården.
Kriminalvården is the government agency in Sweden which is responsible for prisons, jails and probation. The agency has realized a need of access to a several features of their inmate register systems from mobiles and handsets within different areas in their organization. The safety with the mobility and application technology is a comprehensive issue in this case. Therefore, a risk analysis about mobile application technology was initiated. We took the probation services into account as a concrete scenario where mobile application technology could be used. In order to select an appropriate and adequate risk analysis method, we compared a number of methods. It turned out that the method CORAS was the most suitable method. When we completed the risk analysis with CORAS, we tried to match the treatments against different mobile platforms properties to see how they can pursue the treatments. Mobile platforms we examined were Android, Windows Phone 8 and iOS. The result of the risk analysis and the comparison of mobile platforms can the agency use as a basis for further decisions.

The objective of this study was to examine three common mobile phoneplatforms in relation to their network traffic features. The platforms to beexamined are Android, iOS 5 and Windows Phone. After the investigation wascompleted a prototype application was implemented in order to demonstratethese features in the most suitable platform. The application will function as atelephone call exchanger. In addition, the application must also send the userstatistic to a Web server, accept contacts from a Web server, as well as having aspecial administration part in which the userstatistc can be presented. In thestudy the current mobile platforms and their respective APIs have beenexamined and compared and the facts compiled. These techniques were thenapplied to create a prototype application based on the mobile platform Android.Android was chosen because it is the mobile platform that supports the majorityof the required functions. The tools that were used are Eclipse IDE, AndroidSDK, a Jersey RESTful Services, MySQL database and a SQLite database. Theapplication was tested by means of measurements on the application'scommunication features. An expert test was also conducted in order to evaluatethe application as to whether or not it met its goals. The investigation has shownthat Android is the mobile platform that supports the majority of the requirednetwork traffic features. The measurements on the application have shown thatthe speed of execution of a communication function mainly depend on thenetwork connection. The expert test has shown that the application does meetsthe set requirements and, in addition, comments are added in relation to thoseparts for which improvements can be made.
Målet med denna undersökning har varit att undersöka tre vanliga mobiltelefonplattformar avseende deras nätverkstrafikfunktioner. Plattformarna somundersöks är Android, iOS 5 och Windows Phone. Efter avslutad undersökningimplementerades en prototypapplikation för att demonstrera dessa funktioner påden plattform som anses bäst lämpad. Applikationen ska fungera som entelefonväxel och utöver det ska applikationen även skicka användarstatistik tillen webbserver, ta emot kontakter från en webbserver, samt husera en specielladministreringsdel där användarstatistiken ska presenteras. I undersökningenhar de aktuella mobiltelefonplattformarna och deras respektive API:er granskatsoch jämförts. Därefter har dessa tekniker tillämpats för att skapa enprototypapplikation som bygger på mobilplattformen Android. Valet föll påAndroid eftersom det är den mobilplattform som har stöd för flest av deefterfrågade funktionerna. Verktygen Eclipse IDE, Android SDK, en JerseyRESTful Service, MySQL-databas och en SQLite-databas har använts.Applikationen har testats med hjälp av mätningar på applikationenskommunikationsfunktioner. Ett experttest har genomförts för att utvärderahuruvida applikationen uppfyllde kraven som ställts eller ej. Undersökningenhar visat att Android är den mobilplattform som har stöd för flest av deefterfrågade nätverkstrafikfunktionerna. Mätningarna på applikationen har visatatt det till största delen beror på nätverksuppkoppling hur snabbt enkommunikationsfunktion exekveras. Expertestet har visat att applikationenuppfyller kraven som ställts på den, med kommentarer på några delar därförbättringar kan göras.

The subject of this thesis is to compare the most widely used mobile operating systems from the perspective of the development, distribution and monetization of applications developed for these systems. Compared systems are Android, iOS, Symbian OS, Windows Phone and BlackBerry OS. The thesis defines a total of 16 criteria against which systems are compared. These criteria are further divided into three categories, namely SDK features, functionality and distribution and monetization. All criteria have assigned weights which are determined by the paired comparison method using the Fuller's triangle, which is part of the Annexes of this work. Practical part of this thesis is focused on determining the values of defined criteria. Each criterion is evaluated separately, including an analysis of results. The overall evaluation is performed in a separate part of the thesis and is composed by categories evaluation and overall evaluation.

Mobila enheter så som mobiltelefoner och surfplattor är idag väldigt vanliga i arbetslivet, där de inte bara används för kommunikation utan även för att utföra arbetsuppgifter. Alla verktyg finns dock inte alltid tillgängliga för sådana enheter eller i alla fall inte i en form som gör det praktiskt att använda dem. Systemet Semko Instrument Register (SIR), utvecklat av Triona, är ett sådant verktyg i form av en ej mobilanpassad hemsida, som bland annat används för att hämta kalibreringscertifikat för mätinstrument. Målet med detta projekt är att komma fram till ett sätt att tillgängliggöra systemet på så många olika typer av mobila enheter som möjligt, på ett så enkelt sätt som möjligt. Olika metoder (mobilanpassade webbsidor, plattformsspecifika applikationer och plattformsoberoende applikationer) jämförs och analyseras, med fokus på möjligheter till att använda samma kod på flera plattformar samtidigt och huruvida de kan uppfylla kraven som är ställda på applikationen eller ej. Designförslaget tar upp ett sådant sätt, som sedan utvärderas med hjälp av olika aspekter, exempelvis mängd kod som kan återanvändas på flera plattformar. Slutsatsen är att det bästa sättet att tillgängliggöra en tjänst på så många plattformar som möjligt är genom mobilanpassade webbsidor, men på grund av de krav som ställts på projektet användes istället Ionic, ett webbteknologi-baserat verktyg för plattformsoberoende applikationsutveckling, då moderna webbläsare ej ännu har den funktionalitet som krävdes.
Mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets are very common at companies nowadays, where they’re not just used for communication but also for doing work. Not all tools are available for such devices though, or at least not in a suitable form that makes it practical to use them. Semko Instrument Register (SIR) is a such a system, developed by Triona, in the form of a website that is not adapted for mobile devices, which is used for downloading calibration certificates for measuring instruments among other things. The goal of this project is to come up with a method of making the system available to as many mobile devices as possible in the simplest way possible. Different methods (websites adapted for mobile devices, native applications and cross-platform applications) are compared and analysed with a focus on possibilities for sharing code on multiple platforms and whether they’re able to fulfill what is required of the application. The design chapter presents such a method which is then evaluated on different aspects, such as the amount of code that can be shared between platforms. The conclusion is that the best way of making a system available on multiple platforms is through websites adapted for mobile devices, but because of this particular system’s requirements a cross-platform solution called Ionic was used instead, as modern mobile browsers are not yet able to fulfill what was required of the application.

This thesis is focused on the technology of mobile devices. In the first part I analyse the technical parameters of the mobile device in detail, I mention each parameter and its importance, pitfalls and benefits. The second part is focused on mobile operating systems, especially iOS, Android and Windows Phone. The operating systems are analysed from the perspective of technological complexity, which builds on the analysis of the technology of mobile devices. The third part consists of future prediction. I describe hypothetical future development for both of previous parts of my survey. Approximate future development is mentioned in each chapter of of both first and second parts. The main benefit(contribution) of this work is the compact view on the issue of the technology of mobile devices. It helps reader to make a complex overview of the evolution and possibilities on the current mobile devices market.

Důraz je kladen na analýzu tvorby her současně pro více platforem a problémy spojené s tímhle přístupem. Analýza se zabývá zejména na zvyšování výkonu her za použití metod dostupných na všech platformách vybraných pro testování. Tyhle vylepšení zahrnují způsoby jak snížit práci ve scéně a naopak zvýšit počet vykreslení za sekundu při zachování stejné vizuální kvality. Práce také nabízí pohled do minulosti tohoto odvětví a předpoklady o jeho příštím směrování.

Med tiden har det uppstått ett behov av ett förenklat program som kan användas i mobiltelefoner. CGI ville att en prototyp tas fram för utvärdering, samt att en förenklad undersökning görs med avseende på vad som är lämpligast emellan en mobil applikation (s.k. ”app”) eller en mobilanpassad webbapplikation (webbapp). Vid projektets slut har en Windows 8 mobilapp utvecklats samt en mindre undersökning fullgjorts. Undersökningen visar att en webbapp är det ekonomiska alternativet, men att mobila appar utvecklade för sin specifika plattform uppnår högre kvalité.

I denna studie kommer vi att undersöka det populära ramverket Xamarin. Xamarin är ett cross-platform ramverk som använder programmeringsspråket C# för att utveckla samma applikation för iOS, Android och Windows Phone. Studiens huvudsyfte är att genomföra en inledande explorativ studie där vi försöker att identifiera ett antal särskiljande aspekter mellan native- och Xamarin utveckling och dess slutprodukter.För att göra denna jämförelse har vi utvecklat tre applikationer: en native android applikation, en Windows Phone applikation i Xamarin, och en Android app-likation i Xamarin. Med hjälp av en litteraturstudie och utvecklingen av de ovan-nämnda applikationerna har de särskiljande aspekter observerats och identifieras.Resultatet av vår studie visar att native Android applikationen tar upp mindre plats i telefonen jämfört med Xamarin Android applikationen, medan Xamarin Win-dows Phone applikationen tar 1/6 mindre utrymme i telefonen jämfört med Xamarin Android applikationen. Ytterligare tester visar också att Xamarin Android appli-kationen tar längre tid att starta jämfört med native Android och Xamarin Winows Phone applikationen.
In this study, we will examine the popular framework Xamarin. Xamarin is a cross-platform framework that uses the C# programming language to develop the same application for iOS, Android and Windows Phone. The study's main purpose is to conduct an initial exploratory study in which we try to identify a number of distin-guishing aspects between native- and Xamarin development and its products. In order to make this comparison we developed three applications: one native android application, one Windows Phone application in Xamarin, and one Android application in Xamarin. With the help of a literature study and the development of the aforementioned applications, the distinctive aspects have been observed and identified.The result of our study shows that the native android application takes up less space in the phone compared to the Xamarin android application, whereas the Xamarin Windows Phone app takes 1/6 less space in the phone compared to the Xamarin android application. Further tests also show that the Xamarin android ap¬p-lication takes longer time to start-up than with the native Android and Xamarin Winows Phone applications.

Rapporten presenterar skapandet av en produktkonfigurator och flera förslag på hur den kan förbättras. Uppdraget gavs av System Andersson till två studenter på Jönköpings Tekniska Högskola som genomförde detta som sitt examensarbete.

Rapporten diskuterar möjliga lösningar på en produktkonfigurator och visar ett resultat som utgår från dessa lösningar. Produktkonfiguratorn i rapporten består av två delar.

Dels konfigurationsdelen som hjälper användaren att skapa nya produkter utifrån valda artiklar. Artiklarna sorteras automatiskt av produktkonfiguratorn så att endast kompatibla artiklar kan sättas ihop. Detta sker med ett ”drag and drop” gränssnitt.

Dessutom innehåller produktkonfiguratorn en kompatibilitetsdel, vars uppgift är att underlätta vid definierandet av kompatibilitet mellan artiklar. Detta kan göras löpande under tiden en produkt konfigureras om så önskas. Användaren kan välja på två eller flera artiklar som ska vara kompatibla med varandra, eller hela kategorier.

Sist i rapporten diskuteras de val som gjorts under arbetets gång och möjliga förbättringar som kan göras på produktkonfiguratorn.

In the global market many smartphones vendors struggle to reach more customers. The competition leads to vendors developing technologies that are platform dependent, to keep their customers. This means that customers cannot take advantage of their skills in the integration of other operating systems, which makes them locked-in with their current supplier. Therefore we want to examine the concept of skill transferability and see how knowledge can be transferred to another operating system. To examine this we conducted a test where Android users had to perform tasks on iOS and Windows Phone. These tests were observed to examine whether the knowledge required to perform the task where transferable from Android or not. The results showed that when an operating system is similar to Android it provides more opportunity for the users to use their previous knowledge about their operating system and the technology play a major role in the differences between various ages.

Det finns flera olika tillvägagångssätt för att göra det möjligt att skapa program som kan exekveras på flera olika plattformar. Detta tillvägagångssätt för utveckling mot flera plattformar, kallas plattformsoberoende utveckling. En av teknikerna för plattformsoberoende utveckling, bygger på att de specifika plattformarna har tillgång till en virtuell maskin som programmet kompileras mot. Den virtuella maskinen översätter sedan koden till plattformens specifika maskinkod. Denna teknik används bland annat av plattformsoberoende språk som Java och .NET-familjen. Andra tekniker som exempelvis förprocessering (eng. Preprocessing), möjliggör plattformsoberoende genom att programmets källkod kompileras olika beroende på vilken plattform som programmet ska exekveras på.Studien hade för avseende att utreda problemen med plattformsoberoende utveckling mellan de mobila plattformarna Android, iOS och Windows Phone 7. Utredningen visade att det vid studiens utförande, inte fanns något ramverk eller annan teknik som till fullo hade stöd för att skapa ett högpresterande mobilspel för målplattformarna. Genom användandet av Mono for Android och XNA skapades ett plattformsoberoende spel för plattformarna med utvecklingsspråket C#. Plattformsoberoendet kunde uppnås tack vare Mono Runtime som är en implementation av Common Language Runtime för Android och iOS. Common Language Runtime är .NET’s plattformsoberoende teknik och är en virtuell maskin.Mobilspelet skapades för att påvisa att utveckling av plattformsoberoende funktionalitet för 2D- och 3D-grafik, användarinmatning och hantering av media, är möjligt. Spelprototypens funktionalitet togs fram genom att undersöka populära mobilspel, ute på marknaden idag. För plattformsoberoende grafik användes en spelmotor vid namn Axiom, för användarinmatningen samt hanteringen av media utvecklades egna lösningar. Med spelet visade studien att det är möjligt att skapa plattformsoberoende, högpresterande spel för plattformarna Android och Windows Phone 7. Att lösningen fungerar även för iOS bevisades bara teoretiskt då Axiom vid studiens tidpunkt inte hade fullt stöd för utveckling till plattformen. Teknikerna som lösningen utnyttjade var en virtuell maskin för varje plattform samt förprocessering som såg till att vissa delar av källkoden kompilerades specifikt för de olika plattformarna.Lösningen som studien presenterar är inte en fullskaligt plattformsoberoende lösning då källkoden innehåller vissa plattformsspecifika delar. Dock har lösningen visat att mycket av koden är plattformsoberoende mellan plattformarna. Det är främst implementationen av användarinmatningen och hanteringen av media som innehåller plattformsspecifik kod. Därför med dessa redan implementerade är det möjligt att nästan helt och hållet skapa ett plattformsoberoende, högpresterande spel för målplattformarna.

The aim of this project is to design an application for mobile platform which can insert virtual objects to camera shots without disturbing the scene. The application is implemented on Windows 8.1 and Windows Phone 8.1 platforms. The scene rendering is done in DirectX with C++ programming language and the user interface is created in XAML. This text describes the relevant fundamentals of augmented reality and the selected platform and it describes advanced programming techniques such as asynchronous resources loading or advanced post processing rendering techniques. The result of this project is a mobile application for inserting a virtual object with its shadow to camera shot. It is possible to set some aspects of the light and take a picture with the virtual object in high resolution.

Storing warranty receipts can sometimes be problematic. Receiptscan be lost, bleached and become illegible or in an extreme case, the storage area is destroyed. The company Freck AB offers a service to store these receiptsonline. They also provides a webpage where the user is able to handle their receipts and an iPhone client for easier uploading. Since the smartphones are increasing in market share each year, with different operating systems, it causes a market fragmentation. If Freck AB wants to address more potential customers, the application needs to get ported to more platforms. Currently iOS holds a 15.7% of the market share, and if the application is ported to the AndroidOS platform, 38.4% of the smartphone users will be addressed. This thesis will present a portation of an iOS application to the Android OS platform. It will also discuss basic Android programming together with the Android SDK classes and techniques used. The portation was considered successful and the subgoals were met. The application has been tested on multiple emulators and on one physical device with good results.

The mobile application allows users to document progress of a construction using integrated camera, maps and GPS, and send collected data to the server. The server application includes a web service for client-server communication, and a web application for database management and processing of the collected data. Apart from the design and implementation, the features and technologies of mobile devices utilized by the application are discussed. The thesis also reviews current most significant mobile platforms and analyses concepts and technologies of cross-platform development, especially Xamarin and MvvmCross, which were used for development of the above-mentioned application.

This thesis deals with a face detection on mobile phones. It especially focuses on Windows Mobile platform. The introduction is therefore devoted to this operating system and alternatives of working with the camera. The next part of the text refers to general problems of the face detection in the image considering the weak performance of the target device. Another part of this thesis is a description of the acquisition of images from the camera using DirectShow multimedia framework and creation of a custom transformation filter for the face detection. Achieved results are summarized in the conclusion. It takes a form of tests examining different mobile devices. All difficulties arising during Windows Mobile developing are also mentioned.

A problem with having a fast and wide production of different platforms for mobile devices is that you can’t code for one and deploy on all devices at the same time. This thesis is focused on cross-plat1form development environments for smartphones and mainly to see what options there are on the market. This report will investigate how well a cross-compiler solution compares to hybrid cross-platform development. To do this we took a closer look at their architecture and then compared this with the results from different tests made. All the tests were made on the same smartphone to ensure fairness between them. All the tests strive to be as equal as possible even though the languages might differ from each other. The tested frameworks were PhoneGap, Qt, Unity3D and GameMaker. The different tests were about performance, power consumption, difficulty in accessing web browsers to perform HTML parsing and lastly to see if the platforms can access different native APIs such as the camera and accelerometer. The previously mentioned topics were compared between all the frameworks. We also compared the documentation found on their webpage to figure out which is the easiest to get started on.
