Abstract:
One of the key issues of the current courier services in Malaysia is the efficiency of the courier itself. In today's competition, many factors have recognized that influence the efficiency of courier services. Hence, numbers of analytical models and formu las were introduced to measure the efficiency of courier service. This paper presents a practical approach for identifying the level of customers’ satisfaction towards courier service companies using Data Envelopment Analysis and four courier services whic h were Poslaju, City - Link Express , J&T Expres s, and GD Express in Hulu Terengganu were selected. Data Envelopment Analysis is chosen in this study because it can deal with complex connections between several inputs and outputs on performance evaluation iss ues. The input criteria considered in this study are assurance, empathy, reliability, responsiveness, tangibility, and price. Meanwhile, customer satisfaction is chosen as the output criteria. The results showed that Poslaju is ranked as the most efficient company, followed by City - Link Express in second and J&T Express as the third. The least efficiency score obtained makes GD Express as the last ranked courier service among these four courier services. Furthermore, the results are mainly influenced by the input criteria of assurance, empathy, and tangibility. This study helps the customer to select the most efficient courier service that can save their time, money, and energy. Finally, this study also can guide courier services to decide on which criteria are effective to be improved to enhance their business performance.

Abstract:
IPO listing threshold requirements are high, many enterprises have chosen to backdoor listing due to the restrictions of objective factors. In order to study the impact of backdoor listing on corporate financial performance, this paper adopts the method of case analysis and takes SF Express, a typical representative of express delivery industry, as an example to analyze whether SF Express has improved its financial performance after backdoor listing by using financial indicators such as debt paying ability, operating ability, profitability and growth ability. The results show that the overall financial performance of SF Express has been improved due to the sufficient capital and the expansion of business scope. The innovation of this paper lies in the horizontal short-term comparison of financial data of SF Express which is backdoor listed and DEPPON Express which is IPO listed in express industry. The research shows that backdoor listing is more conducive to the improvement of the financial performance of enterprises in the short term, providing certain reference value for enterprises that want to go public by backdoor listing in the express industry in the future. However, when deciding to go public, different enterprises should choose suitable listing schemes according to their own financial characteristics and understand the risk and the strategic goal of the enterprise’s own development.

Alraziqi, Zaynab. "Express analysis of actual bluntness of AFM probe tips." Thesis, Cardiff University, 2017. http://orca.cf.ac.uk/104912/.

Full text
Abstract:
The Atomic Force Microscope (AFM) is an invention that has enabled a significant number of studies and discoveries in the field of nanotechnology. It is well-known that the resolution of AFM-based applications is critically dependent on the tip bluntness of the probe utilised. Numerous researchers have proposed different approaches to assess the condition of AFM probe tips. In spite of these efforts, further advances are still needed for the express analysis of the bluntness of such tips. In this context, the overall aim of the research work presented in this Thesis was to investigate a novel in-situ technique for assessing the apex condition of AFM tips. In particular, this technique relies on the analysis of depth-sensing data obtained from the nanoindentation of the probe tip into a soft elastic sample. Nanoindentation is a process that is readily implemented on AFM devices. For this reason, the proposed technique could be a fast an efficient approach for deciding when AFM probes should be replaced. The theoretical argument on which the technique is based is that the current shape of the tip apex in its working position within an AFM device can be approximated as a power-law function and that the exponent of this function can be used as a quantitative measure of the tip bluntness. Based on this approximation and the use of the self-similar (scaling) approach to depth-sensing indentation, it is possible to extract this bluntness parameter, herein also referred to as the degree of tip bluntness, from AFM nanoindentation data. The practical implementation of this technique was realised using a commercial AFM device and commercial probes. The actual geometry of the apex of these probe was also studied in details using additional experimental methods via the use of Scanning Electron Microscopy and also via the so-called “reverse imaging” method to obtain two- and three-dimensional data about the tip apex of these probes. Among the different iv contributions made from the work carried out in this research, the most important conclusion is that a good agreement was found between values of the bluntness parameter evaluated by the proposed technique and the effective bluntness obtained from analysing the actual three dimensional geometry of the AFM tips. Thus, it can be argued that the technique put forward in this work for the express analysis of the bluntness of AFM probe tips using depth-sensing nanoindentation can be considered as a valid method when assessing the condition of AFM probes.

Abstract:
Bibliography: leaves 24-29.
Low temperature is one of the environmental factors that cause substantial crop losses in the world. Recent advances in the study of plants native from temperate regions, have established that cold acclimation is regulated at the gene expression leveL To study the function ofaXerophyta viscosa cold responsive protein that accumulates in plant cells under various environmental stresses, we have cloned the Xerophyta viscosa cold-responsive cDNA gene designed Xvcor, into a less complex host, Saccharomyces cerevisiae with the purpose of carrying out in vivo functional analysis. Sequence analysis showed that Xvcor encodes a 264 amino acid residue protein (Garwe et al 2002). The Hydropathy plot indicated that the XVCOR protein is highly hydrophobic and contains 6 transmembrane domains (Garwe et al 2002). In order to achieve high-level expression of Xvcor, the gene was placed under the control of a strong promoter (Phosphoglycerate kinase). Reverse-transcription PCR amplification revealed that the Xvcor transcript accumulated in yeast cells. However, SDS-PAGE analysis could not detect the predicted 29.6 kDa recombinant protein, suggesting that the translation might be hampered. Tests designed to measure the enhancement of stress tolerance between the recombinant and the control showed similar growth performance, confirming the absence of recombinant protein. A computer search for codon usage showed that the codon usage bias in Xvcor was low compared with that of highly expressed genes of S. cerevisiae. Together, these results suggest that the codon usage in Xvcor could influence its expression in yeast.

Abstract:
New potential for engineering chloroplasts to express novel traits has stimulated research into relevant techniques and genetic processes, including plastid transformation and gene regulation. This BARD-funded research dealt with the mechanisms that influence chloroplast RNA accumulation, and thus gene expression. Previous work on cpRNA catabolism has elucidated a pathway initiated by endonucleolytic cleavage, followed by polyadenylation and exonucleolytic degradation. A major player in this process is the nucleus-encoded exoribo-nuclease/polymerase polynucleotide phosphorylase (PNPase). Biochemical characterization of PNPase has revealed a modular structure that controls its RNA synthesis and degradation activities, which in turn are responsive to the phosphate (P) concentration. During the funding period, new insights emerged into the molecular mechanism of RNA metabolism in the chloroplast and cyanobacteria, suggesting strategies for improving agriculturally-important plants or plants with novel introduced traits.

Abstract:
One of the main functions of mass media is influence on public opinion. So emotionally-painted lexical means are widely used in mass media in relation to leading politicians who are the centre of political arena. They are exposed to the frequent criticism, a negative estimation. The present article is devoted to the consideration of pejorative lexicon which is applied in nominations for heads of states. An empirical material of research were electronic newspapers and editions: Der Spiegel, Die Zeit, Sueddeutsche Zeitung, Der Tagesspiegel, taz, Die Welt, Gegenblende. As the basic methods of research are the following: the componental analysis, the lexico-semantic analysis, the stylistic analysis. The result of research revealed, that in German mass media there is a significant amount of persons names pejorative colouring. They express censure, disrespect, sneer, hatred, antipathy, condemnation, mistrust and so on. There main word-formations for persons nominations are composition, a derivation with using of suffixes and subsuffixes, attributive word-combinations, metaphorically-metonymical way. The materials of the research work can be used in the course of learning German language, at the practical training in oral speech, and also in the course of lexicology, general and aspect lexicography.

Abstract:
T-2 toxin, a toxic product belongs to the trichothecene mycotoxins, attracts major interest because of its severe detrimental effects on the health of human and farm animals. The occurrence of trichothecenes contamination is global and they are very resistant to physical or chemical detoxification techniques. Trichothecenes are absorbed in the small intestine into the blood stream. The hypothesis of this project was to develop a protecting system using probiotic bacteria that will express trichothecene 3-O-acetyltransferase (Tri101) that convert T-2 to a less toxic intermediate to reduce ingested levels in-situ. The major obstacle that we had faced during the project is the absence of stable and efficient expression vectors in probiotics. Most of the project period was invested to screen and isolate strong promoter to express high amounts of the detoxify enzyme on one hand and to stabilize the expression vector on the other hand. In order to estimate the detoxification capacity of the isolated promoters we had developed two very sensitive bioassays. The first system was based on Saccharomyces cerevisiae cells expressing the green fluorescent protein (GFP). Human liver cells proliferation was used as the second bioassay system.Using both systems we were able to prove actual detoxification on living cells by probiotic bacteria expressing Tri101. The first step was the isolation of already discovered strong promoters from lactic acid bacteria, cloning them downstream the Tri101 gene and transformed vectors to E. coli, a lactic acid bacteria strain Lactococcuslactis MG1363, and a probiotic strain of Lactobacillus casei. All plasmid constructs transformed to L. casei were unstable. The promoter designated lacA found to be the most efficient in reducing T-2 from the growth media of E. coli and L. lactis. A prompter library was generated from L. casei in order to isolate authentic probiotic promoters. Seven promoters were isolated, cloned downstream Tri101, transformed to bacteria and their detoxification capability was compared. One of those prompters, designated P201 showed a relatively high efficiency in detoxification. Sequence analysis of the promoter region of P201 and another promoter, P41, revealed the consensus region recognized by the sigma factor. We further attempted to isolate an inducible, strong promoter by comparing the protein profiles of L. casei grown in the presence of 0.3% bile salt (mimicking intestine conditions). Six spots that were consistently overexpressed in the presence of bile salts were isolated and identified. Their promoter reigns are now under investigation and characterization.

Abstract:
The trichothecene deoxynivalenol (DON, vomitoxin), one of the most common mycotoxin contaminants of grains, is produced by members of the Fusarium genus. DON poses a health risk to consumers and impairs livestock performance because it causes feed refusal, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, hemolytic effects and cellular injury. The occurrence of trichothecenes contamination is global and they are very resistant to physical or chemical detoxification techniques. Trichothecenes are absorbed in the small intestine into the blood stream. Melnyk, Olesia. MEDIA DISCOURSE AROUND THE FIGURE OF ORIANA FALLACHI AND HER JOURNALISM DURING 2017–2020. Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, March 2021. http://dx.doi.org/10.30970/vjo.2021.50.11114.

Abstract:
The article analyzes the media discourse around the figure of Oriana Fallachi and her journalistic work during 2017-2020. The actual media image of the figure of Fallachi is highlighted, examples of positive and negative statements are given. It is substantiated why her journalism should be researched in various ways, taking into account other aspects of her work that are not related to Islamophobia. The subject of the study is critical texts in modern foreign media dedicated to the author’s work. The objective of the study is to outline the media discourse around the figure of Oriana Fallaci and her journalism during 2017-2020. The methodology. The following methods have been used in the process of scientific research: historical, comparative, systems analysis, content synthesis, and others. The main results. In total, we have analyzed eight materials in foreign publications, published over the past 3 years, as well as the two most famous biographies of Oriana Fallaci. Some of the most recent reviewed texts have been published in the last few months, reflecting the interest in the author’s journalism, her writing, and reporting. Therefore, we see the need for further tracking and analysis of this body of texts. Conclusions. Critics of Fallaci express polar views that are not all negative. Authors recommend quite cautiously her texts for reading, emphasizing their positive aspects. Both Fallaci’s biographies are also not entirely complementary: some aspects of her work are glorified, others are condemned. We managed to find general tendencies in the criticism of Oriana Fallaci’s journalism. These include accusations of xenophobia and Islamophobia, uncompromisingness, lack of political correctness, and moral value. The authors emphasize, at the same time, the openness and directness that bribe the reader, patriotism and honesty, strength of spirit and firmness of position. Significance of the research. The analysis of the latest criticism reveals what kind of media image Fallachi’s figure has today, and gives the possibility to research it for demonization and one-sided coverage. This is important not only for thorough research of the author’s work but also for understanding how the modern world perceives journalism, which is contrary to the generally accepted principles of political correctness, journalistic ethics, and humanity.
