Full textVia its qualities, experiential art tends to intermingle the actual artwork and experience. In contemporary art, certain artists produce installations that call for a strong corporeal investment on the part of the spectator/vistitor, that call to be experienced. This thesis studies the process of reception of the installation as experiential artwork. How does the experience of this kind of work get constructed ? What are its modalities and features ? After a brief presentation of this type of art, the thesis offers a first theoretical approach that focuses on the technical assemblage so as to single out the situationbased specificities of it : spatio-temporal, practical, formal and structural. A second theoretical approach then looks at the visitor's experience so as to make sense of how the assemblage's specificities can impact his/her psycho-motor and sensori-motor habits, and thus offer new potentialities. In the last part of the thesis, a practical approach is offered, whereby the various works created during the doctoral research are presented, along with the results of a behaviourist study. This thesis hopes to offer the premise of a new aesthetics by exposing the process of appropriation of immersive/interactive installations and by demonstrating that, in certain cases, such installations can propose a singular experience, a selfexperience, a new active and aesthetic state of being

Full textThe culinary is in everybody’s mouth without having been defined neither in marketing or in the field of consumer’s behavior. In order to limit this lack of concept, this thesis aims at exploring the ideas behind the culinary and to suggest a mix experiential design x « culinariness » for a consumer’s delightment. After the first exploration based on content analysis on the internet (NGram Viewer and Google) and semi-directive interviews that have revealed part of the concept, the research consisted in a polymorphic analysis of the dimensions and uses of the culinary. Built on a multiangulation of the research, the four empirical studies were : 1) case studies of quality restaurants ; 2) participating observation of a Mooc on food design ; 3) tests on the dimensions of the culinary at the restaurant ; 4) three experimentations as pop up restaurants enabling somes observations on spot and investigations. Thus, the results of this study lead to a definition of the culinary (Pleasure as a determinant and 4 dimensions QCKS: Q-Quality ; C-Creativty ; K-Know-how ; S-Sharing). They attest the point of an experiential design x culinary mix in order to delight the consumer and introduce a culinary marketing

At a time when we first acquire symbols through the purchase of products, it is important to integrate these products into a story in which the target audience can easily recognize itself and to use the selling space in order to stage this story. The objective is to create a link with the target aimed to strengthen its appropriation of the store. Relying on a theatrical literature, on immersions both in the theatrical world and in stores, on interviews with professionals and consumers, this research proposes - with the example of clothing stores - a reading grid to transpose to distribution the traditional tools used to design a theater staging

Full textThis study focuses on relations between self-presentation modalities during interactions and individual identity construction process. It aims to understand why certain people are more disposed than other to conform their attitudes to individuals and situations they are led to meet. To do this, we resorted in both qualitative and quantitative methods. The analysis of self-speech based on reading autobiographies and narratives of life led to underline the active part of individuals in the autoconstruction process implemented. The broadcasting of a questionnaire to measure their abilities to shape their face in regard to external injunctions (self-monitoring) and their objective identity peculiarities (sociodemographic criteria) as subjective (self-consciousness and self-esteem) revealed, thanks to the scores thus raised and the treatment of variables that resulted, all the importance of social factors on the definition of individual behaviors. Then, to understand individual specificities in terms of self-presentation as identity, it is equally important to light social anchors of actors as much as how they treat them, in order to approach in closer of “subjectivation of objective” phenomenon they implement to singularize themselves. Considering this result, a third analysis focuses more particularly on the emerging adulthood period (from 18 to 27 years old), which is marked by a rupture with normative injunctions related to childhood and adolescence without being perfectly associated to adulthood requirements. This period of life, which allows more freedom to individuals in terms of experimentations (in particular in the fields of studies, work and relationships), is associated with the highest scores in self-monitoring. This result leads us to establish a parallel between living conditions of individuals and the modalities of adaptation of their faces. In other words, and about the general scope of this doctoral research, daily life experience constitutes the main factor of more or less big tendency of actors in adopting and present the attitudes they consider as expected from themselves

Full textIn this research we identify how the teacher personal experience on a specific activity may have a great influence into his practical teaching experience. The practices of four recently qualified PE teachers are examined through comparative analysis and case studies. An epistemological analysis of the experiential knowledge and a transpositive analysis of its transmission framed an analysis of the effective practices. This framework led to quantitative comparisons and qualitative analysis of teaching methods supported by uneven personal experiences in the taught activities. Generic trends and experienced teaching have been identified. The clinical didactics analysis of the teachers' views about their own practices through a theory of the didactic subject have led to construct each teacher case by identifying how the experience determines the place he assumes in the didactics

Full textThe question is to understand the meaning, and the development and transformation of processes of the experience inside the Post Office. The theoretical field mobilizes the theory of the transformation of trainings according (Mezirow, 1991) and the theory of organisational training (Argyris, 1995). From this double viewpoint, experiencing learning takes part in the production of goods and services as well as self-production based upon an experimental dialogism articulating antagonistic aims and means. Our method combines several approaches ; 1) the organisational investigation, 2) the observing participation throughout the analysis of the linguistic activities and the interactions of training dealing with the experiment of two reflexive courses. The two studied experiments show the emergence of mediation by a third party performing a social expertise. The latter consisting in producing a mutual understanding through which people can take part, according to their resources, to a communication trial. Ways of training for oneself, with and for others, link together according to instrumental and liberated logics through rational dialogue. Experiencing dialogism then holds in the way of convergence or divergence of three main dimensions of the interdependent experiment (subject, group, organization) and their components (pools of knowledge, tests and project)

Full textInnovating new experiences is an innovation strategy that increases product differentiation and the perceived value of offers for the future autonomous cars. Young Chinese customers are a relevant target group of lead users to co-create those experiences. We address the co-creation of valuable experiences with targeted potential users and the building of the meaning of experiential imaginary that results from innovations (based on digital medias) echoing the need for sensory atmospherics while strolling in the city. We aim at understanding how meaning is built and first analyze the ambiance in China in terms of symbolic systems. We analyze the narrative structures of the experiential imaginary, considering the narratives as a major component of ambiance experiences and imaginary. Preliminary research on Chinese and Japanese ambiance concepts highlights a system of interactions and energies, major components of the experience of the atmospherics. We adopt the structuralism point of view of atmospherics as a semiotic system. With an empirical approach that associates projective techniques to semiotic analysis of the corresponding narratives, we describe the structural system of the experiential imaginary of young Chinese customers when imagining driving in the city in tomorrow’s cars. Semiotics offers a novel contribution of to innovation marketing and idea generation of experiential innovations. This theoretical stance valorizes the outside-in paradigm of future lead-users as co-creators of innovative experiences, whose imaginary narratives are raw materials for creativity. This approach is an alternative to brainstorming and its limits for creating disruptive innovations

Full textThis study focuses on three main concerns presented by the marketing experiential current: an asymmetry of research since the consumer perspective is more developed than the organisational one (Kranzbühler et al., 2018); regular confusions between experience and servicescapes; difficulty in measuring experiential strategies (Ferraro et al., 2017; Roederer et Filser, 2015).The servicescape is explored under the prism of the assemblage theory (Deleuze et Guattari, 1980). A multi-method methodology collects qualitative data around semi-structured interviews, a photographic corpus and a non-participant observation. In a second step, the concept of the customer lifetime value is mobilised for the first time, to our knowledge, to capture the effects of the servicescapes remodelling in a longitudinal way. Two fields are investigated, one hedonic and the other utilitarian. Quasi-experimental methodology permits us to compare effects between a treated and control group. The results reveal that servicescapes are structured around an expression intention and six devices. Servicescapes are punctuated by a life cycle but also nested in a rhizomes network. The lifetime value allows to highlight the effects of remodelling over time depending on whether the context is utilitarian or hedonic

Full textThe aim of our research is to account for loyalty as a dynamic process developing throughout consumption experiences considering a field which has not been thoroughly studied to date, i. E. Experiential consumption in the context of tourism. The developed approach primarily emphasizes concepts which are contrary to loyalty, like variety seeking, in order to better understand factors that favour loyalty. The need for stimulation proves to be a fundamental key process. Complementary to cognitive paradigm, the experiential model offers an original approach of loyalty signifying that it depends on a satisfied need for stimulation. This loyalty dimension is more pertinent because of the influence of numerous situational factors on customer behavior. Results obtained via a structural equation modelling technique confirm the existence of a process evolving on a continuum that matches loyalty with variety seeking; and in which the need for stimulation has a negative moderating effect between optimal stimulation level (OSL) and loyalty. Others key-variables make it possible to distinguish loyal-by-desire vs loyal-by-need consumers. In the first case, loyalty is more clearly defined as a strategy to reduce a perceived risk for example. In the second case, pleasure or hedonism experienced by the consumer leads to more variety seeking and the moderating effect of the satisfied need for stimulation, generates more loyalty. A conceptual and methodological solution to measure the need for a stimulation factor is developed through situational variables tourist experience stimulation. A managerial paradox is hereby revealed : in response to the individual's need for stimulation, it is possible to influence his loyalty. The management of both experience consumption and the inter-organizational networks prove to be fundamental

Full textE-learning has been developed in our contemporary society in order to propose faster and cheaper adult training so that they will become “competent” professionals. Thus, it is common to promote the functional aspects of knowledge and the technical dimensions of teaching in an e-learning class. In this perspective, knowledge becomes a good to consume rather than to reveal from our own experiences. This thesis proposes to reverse this logic by describing the Open and Distance Learning (ODL), not as a learning process to be mastered but as an environment that allows the adult to learn from his own experiences and projects. Therefore, reflexivity, deliberation and integration of knowledge appear in the foreground. The field research involves two blended and alternative trainings, combining several training sessions led by seven trainers of popular education. Part of an inductive approach, this research demonstrates methodological triangulation by mobilizing several data collection tools, such as surveys and semi-directional interviews. Furthermore, the research’s methodology combines qualitative (categorical) and quantitative (statistical and lexicometric) data analysis. The study contributes to the development of an engineering for Open and Integrative Distance Learning (OIDL). The articulation between ODL and alternative training leads to a model enabling to consider the integrative function of distance and the experiential accompaniment practices

Full textHow to identify and treat the psychic vulnerability of the young Kanak mother whose child is given to another for adoption? We try to answer this question by sharing our experience from a focus group with mediation within a tribe in New Caledonia. We explain how the adjustment of photolanguage adapted to the cultural universe of our subjects plays a role in the development of discussion within the group. Inspired by the group psychic apparatus approach, we explore associative processes in the treatment of previous sufferings. Using our adaptation of the photolanguage tool, we have focused on the following elements: the attachment to the land, the attachment to the importance of a Kanak’s first name, the relationship with the maternal uncle and the link to the status of women in Kanak society. We demonstrate the importance of these links through their organizing effects on intersubjective relationships. However, on the negative side, these links can uncover legacies that are as yet undeclared and can also be a source of toxic psychic changes and influences. We highlight precisely the symbolic importance of re-positioning the subject within their cultural universe, both in the collective and individual sense. Our work is for all those who care about patients and want to understand the Kanak world and its issues
Güneri, Fatma. "Hedonic consumption with suspense and specific curiosity in experiental marketing." Thesis, Lille 1, 2014. http://www.theses.fr/2014LIL12026.
Full textBy Caplin and Leahy (1997), suspense is defined as a pleasure felt immediately prior to early resolution of uncertainty, and the assumption is that it is positively correlated with the amount of issues about the outcome of an event. In marketing, suspense is defined as an anticipatory global excitement associated with hope, fear and uncertainty which are felt and evaluated by a consumer according to probability of occurence of a significant and imminent consumption or event (Moulard, Kroff and Folse 2012). In this context, experiential marketing incorporates some emotions to create a hedonic connection with consumers. Emotions have a crucial role in modern and post-modern marketing. This role is not big enough in itself to determine the purchase of a product/service, but it's essential to question and to understand how consumers produce emotions during consumption. Nevertheless, suspense is not only used to build an emotional state. In theory, first of all, a stimulus needs to be aroused by four drivers which are uncertainty, novelty, complexity and conflict. These drivers have been identified as key variables of an object or an event to create an effect of curiosity (Berlyne 1960). In parallel, hope and fear are defined as well as the antecedents of suspense with uncertainty (Madrigal and Bee 2005; Moulard, Kroff and Folse 2012). The strong link between suspense and uncertainty leads this research to discuss about specific curiosity

Full textIn anxiety and depressive disorders, an important influence has been shown for the repartition of attention between internal and external stimuli, and for subject's behaviors in front of internal stimuli. Patients focus on internal stimuli trying to avoid their psychological experiences. This doctoral dissertation studies how clinical and non-clinical subjects handle their internal stimuli. Experiential avoidance is studied by mean of the French validation and intercultural comparison of the Acceptance and Action Questionnaire (AAQ-II), and self-focused attention by mean of the French validation of Situational Self-Awareness Scale (SSAS) and Linguistic Implications Form (LIFE2). The modification of psychological flexibility and of self-focused attention is tested by mean of attention training and mindfulness training in clinical and non-clinical subjects, in association with an evaluation of attentional capacities. Results show the reliability of self-focused attention and psychological flexibility constructs, and good psychometric properties for the scales studied. For patients, self-focused attention was decreased after attention training. This decrease was independent of attention for external stimuli, and not superior to mindfulness-based training. These results suggest thet self-focused attention does not systematically evolve conversely to attention for external stimuli. They also show that self-focused attention is weakly correlated to experiential avoidance, whic suggest that avoidance of psychological evens might be an automatic process in anxiety and depressive disorders

Full textThe influence of background music on consumers is recognized by both practitioners and academics. Despite an apparent easy manipulation, it is a complex atmospheric element. This topic is the subject of a rich literature. However, it does not provide a clear consensus. In this work, the effects of background music on consumers were observed through its tempo. To this end, a quasi-experimentation was carried out with 148 clients in a sports leisure context. The results highlight that because of a tempo too fast or because of its presence, background music deteriorates the quality of the experience lived by customers: interactions between customers are less likely, the immersion and the satisfaction of these, more fragile

Full textFunctional foods are conventional products that contain additional bioactive compound targeting physiological benefits beyond basic nutritional value. Previous research regarding the health nutrition consumption widely focused on the cognitive features of reasoned decisional process to explain consumer acceptance. Bearing on experiential perspective, the purpose of the present study is to provide an in-depth analysis of functional food consumption by exploring the multidimensional approach of consumer perceived value (utilitarian, hedonistic and symbolic). A primary literature review allowed determining the factors which might affect consumption experience (typology of value components, variables related to consumer, product characteristics and personality traits). An exploratory qualitative survey which mixed interviews with diary and questionnaire was carried out in order to verify research proposals. Finally, following an empirical validation of a perceived value scale, an integrative conceptual model was elaborated and tested through a quantitative survey. This explanatory frame highlighted the underlying relationships between the perceived value of functional food consumption, its predictors, its moderators and its effects (repurchasing intention). Results showed that experiential framework gives a relevant insight into the affective pattern of functional food consumption that emerges from an interaction between the consumer and the product

Full textFaced with both the collective challenges, in terms of economic and social development of communities and countries; and individual challenges to the business creators, support systems have gradually imposed representing, since the 80s, a general reality in Europe and particularly in France.Among the practices of business support systems, our interest in this research is focused on the entrepreneurial support phenomenon. First approached from a more technical and collective approach focused on results, entrepreneurial support becomes a practical support to business creation which is based on an interpersonal influence relationship established between an entrepreneur and an external actor to the creation project and on an action process based on multiple learning and skills development. If all support contributions in the current state of entrepreneurship research help to a better entrepreneur’s success, in our research we are particularly interested in the other "hidden facet" of the support relationship whish are accompanists themselves and the problematic of what is learned by these professional actors from their practices in business support structures. We, therefore, asked the question: To what extent the entrepreneurial support experiences of accompanists affect their experiential learning outcomes and individual and organizational behaviors in “Réseau Entreprendre” (Entrepreneurship Network) ®?To address this problem, we mobilized the experiential learning theory (Kolb, 1985) as a reference model of our research. The meeting between the two fundamental concepts of our research, namely, entrepreneurial support and more specifically, the accompanist and Kolb's experiential learning theory (1984) enabled us to build our conceptual model relating four main variables. These variables are associated with entrepreneurial support experiences, individual characteristics of accompanists, the experiential learning outcomes and, finally, individual and organizational behavior changes.By adopting a quantitative methodology we administered a questionnaire to a sample of 205 entrepreneurs of creation project in 38 Entrepreneurship Network associations in France. The results of our quantitative analyzes are obtained from SPSS software and provide a better understanding of the accompanist learning cycle in general and in “Entrepreneurship Network” structures in particular. The implications and contributions of our research are theoretical, methodological and practical

Full textAbstract: Awakening the “Sensible” Being (ASB) is a formative practice geared toward care giving and support. It allows individuals to learn how experiencing one’s own body and its internal movement stimulates the development of self-awareness and awareness of others, which are desirable qualities for healthcare professionals. In these practices, the body plays a central role through four intervention methods: manual therapy, sensory gymnastics, sensory introspection, and verbal interviews focused on body experience. Large (2009) concludes that a particular quality of presence emerges in ASB participants. He also notes that participants are in closer contact with their interiority, are able to better express to others what they feel and manage to take actions that reveal what they are becoming. Large (2009) notes that participants develop stability, adaptability, and autonomy. Also being more assertive, they achieve a closer proximity to others. Bois (2007) observes a change in representations linked to ideas, values, self-image and perceptual relationship to the self. Other researchers report participants changing their vision of health (Duval, 2010; Laemmlin-Cencig and Humpich, 2009). To our knowledge, there has been no previous study on the effects of ASB training on physicians. Where appropriate, we explored how the ASB training followed by physicians changed their relationship to their body, their own health, their concept of health, the quality of their presence to themselves, to other professionals and to patients. Semi-structured 90-105 minute interviews were conducted with each of six physicians in France (five female and one male) who were trained in ASB between 2005 and 2012. Two types of interviews were conducted: a comprehensive interview (Kaufmann, 2011) and elicitation questioning (Vermersch, 2010; 2012). Information was also gathered on the participants’ training and professional activities. Two types of analyses were done among other things to ascertain the coherence of the results and to increase the rigor of our project. Our first analytical approach grew out of two methods: firstly, a thematic analysis, and secondly an analysis of the conceptualizing categories in order to generate a grounded theory approach. Our second analytical approach consisted in creating a list of 26 phenomena occurring in the majority of the interviews following discussions held within our management team. Our results show that, following the ASB training, five participants report a greater proximity to and self-awareness of their body and a better listening of their body. This anchoring of self-awareness through the body informs them on their way of life and their existence. This gives rise to important perceptual discoveries enabling the participants make new choices for a more coherent life that is centered on their interiority. They thereby regain power over their life as well as over their health. Also, of the six physicians, four have modified their perception of health, the latter being expanded to now include new elements such as the quality of the relationship with the self and a body-mind fine-tuning. The body appears to be an underground lane from which transformations occurred in the individual, as if it became an interface generating effects in several facets of the individual. These transformations appear to have an influence on the way that the individual exercises his/her profession, as if a renewed “savoir-être“ was transforming his/her “savoir-faire“ in his or her practice. As far as the quality of presence to others is concerned, it is reported that professional relationships have improved for the majority of the participants. Personal transformations seem to have had effects on their professional relationships. For example, all participants claim an improved quality of presence to their patients and a better availability. Most of them report having learnt to set the right therapeutic distance and, at the same time, having a singular relationship with each patient. Through our analysis we find that the relationship with the patients has changed when it comes to communicating, touching and listening. Medical students’ training path appears to create conditions promoting exhaustion (Brazeau, Schroeder, Rovi and Boyd, 2010; Colombat, Altmeyer, Barruel, Bauchetet, Blanchard, Colombat et al., 2011; Ishak, Nikravesh, Lederer, Perry, Ogunyemi and Bernstein, 2013; Llera and Durante, 2014; Rodrigues, Albiges and Blanchard, 2012). Some mind-body type interventions appear to minimize this impact (Elder, Rakel, Heitkemper, Hustedde, Harazduk, Gerik et al., 2007; Hewson, Copeland, Mascha, Arrigain, Topol and Fox, 2006; Irving, Park-Saltzman, Fitzpatrick, Dobkin, Chen and Hutchinson, 2014; Maclaughlin, Wang, Noone, Liu, Harazduk, Lumpkin et al., 2011; Motz, Graves, Gross, Saunders, Amri, Harazduk et al., 2012; Rosenzweig, Reibel, Greeson, Brainard and Hojat, 2003; Saunders, Tractenberg, Chaterji, Amri, Harazduk, Gordon et al., 2007). Our research demonstrates that, with our participants, the ASB training has allowed them to make several gains in their own health. It appears that upstream from the training linked to the medical profession a quality of “savoir-être“ may bring solidity to the individual, to his/her learnings and to his/her future medical practice. Medical students would therefore be better equipped to go through this demanding and exhausting medical training program. It would be interesting to conduct this research with a greater number of physicians or medical students so that we could observe the repetitive theorized elements included in the grounded theory of our exploratory study. Therefore, according to our results, it would be easier to promote an experiential learning of mind-body approaches (including ASB) in university medical study programs.

Full textFrom the problematic confrontation of a video game project with the multiple conditions ofits creation, the present thesis tries to highlight the constraints and the interrogations whichthey arouse. Contemporary to the information society, the video game is a witness of thecomplex evolution of the postmodern paradigm born from cybernetics. From the genesis ofthe video game to present time, technologies, the ways of playing and the productions revealthe significant oppositions in their visions of the world. The thesis shows that behind theimage of entertainment and of a consensual industry, a form of resistance can express/voiceitself from a technological, artistic and political point of view. Through the history of videogame and its future, one can read some of society’s stakes/challenges linked to new formsof power. It is within a counter cultural interstice, and fed by a prior critical exam, thata resistant work/piece is developed. An original creation is progressively built in reflexivecounter cultural opposition to the mainstream dominant liberal world and its accelerationand dematerialization... From a plastic point of view, the thesis questions the return of thevirtual reality technologies, and elaborates two new notions: the experiential vehicle and thesufficient decoy. Taking advantage of this new field of investigation of creation, the thesisinvites the player to let it be used so as to do so. Keywords: Video games. Counter culture.Experiential vehicle. Counter dematerialization. Sufficient decoy

Full textThis thesis aims at training healthcare teams in life-threatening emergency situations. Our work focuses on innovative simulation techniques for interprofessional teams, and especially its heart: the debriefing. Several studies have shown that debriefing without instructor could be effective for individual learning. But no study has yet explored team debriefing without instructor as a possible approach to improving team performance. However patient care in emergency life-threatening situations is almost always the responsibility of a team. Combining quantitative and qualitative research methodologies, we evaluated the effectiveness and analyzed the content of within-team debriefing without instructor to improve performance of life-threatening emergencies management by interprofessional teams. This work optimizes instructor training, and facilitates diffusion of simulation-based interprofessional training

Full textNowadays, the problem of physical inactivity is one of the major global issues and it is considered by the WHO and the UN as the leading cause of mortality due to non-communicable diseases. At the same time, although the physical exercise has proven to be the best way to fight against these sicknesses, most of the consumers evoke a series of barriers against the adoption of regular exercise. The purpose of this thesis is to propose alternative approaches based on the concept of perceived value in marketing which has proven to be a good tool to motivate and retain consumers in the frame of other types of goods and services. We focused on the sources of consumer perceived value in personalized marketing, community marketing and experiential marketing, the aspects of which were integrated in a combinatorial approach, the aim of this method being to propose the concept of the exercise composite variable as a trade-off between costs and benefits. We confirmed that the perceived values of the different composites of the practice of exercise combined to form the overall perceived value of the exercise. In addition, we also confirmed that this overall perceived value of the exercise ultimately influenced the consumer’s intent to practice regular exercise and to recommend it.The results of this research allowed us to suggest that the offer of exercise should be made as à la carte menu in order to facilitate consumers’ decision-making process and so to motivate and to retain them

It questions the robots of company from the point of view of the design, their identity, their emergence, and their use within a creative and experimental dimension. Robots companionship, locked in a stereotypical representation of the slave robot or the household robot, tend to develop a new relationship, an experiment object / user beneficial. Therefore, a cross-artistic analyse tipped a look on these culturally shaped objects. The robots are explored, experienced in a visual construction, plastic and semantic uncovers an universe fun and unique. The experiment then takes a vital place in the taking over of those modern objects. This approach connects an aesthetic culture to a qualitative and quantitative evaluation of robotic companionship. It marks the desire to identify these artefacts, emphasizing their transitional nature. The general public perception of valid emotional and behavioural qualities reused in the project, and brings a critical nature on the potential of these objects. Robots companionship laid the foundation of a typology larger, a specie friendly toy for adults, improving interaction and a pleasant fictional experience: the Experientials Toys

Full textBased on a phenomenological approach and an ethnomarketing protocol, this doctoral dissertation explores to what extent the culture of consumption around weddings in France interferes with the observed subcultures (religious, areligious, of gender, of passions and lifestyles, etc.). Through the study of the social and market structures that guide the customer journey of fourteen observation units, it emerges that weddings are largely predetermined by rituals inherited from the subcultures of origin. Nonetheless, personalisation and cultural hybridisation are present in varying degrees, creating more meaningful experiences and shaping a unique identity to each celebration. This produces customer journeys with diverse and heterogeneous trajectories, oriented by a thematic referent framework and the leitmotiv to “throw a successful wedding"
Mongereau, Marine. "The decisive role of cognition in developing performing adaptive global leaders : an analysis of top executives' international assignments." Thesis, Lyon, 2017. http://www.theses.fr/2017LYSE3079/document.
Full textToday’s global economy represents a volatile, complex, uncertain and ambiguous environment for firms to sustain a profitable international growth. Organizations must continuously develop a portfolio of leaders ready to push forward growth strategies. Despite this challenge, corporations often fail to offer the right learning organizational framework to their top executives proposing too often standardized models. Many firms are acknowledging the urgent need to transform their learning organizations, strategies and to rethink how to learn to lead. Our research is aiming to develop a deep understanding of how global executives are developing, adjusting competencies to the unpredictable needs initiated by their different expatriations. The methodology used is highly inductive and interpretivist. The qualitative sample is composed of 25 top executives, expatriated in MNC’s subsidiaries, men and women. This sample is complemented by the transversal follow up of one top executive, expatriated, for over a period of 2, 5 years. The research objectives are to generate subjective knowledge grounded in the way global executives experience their development during expatriation, translated into a model “à la Gioia” and to provide guidelines for practitioners. We found out that the concept of cognition and self was decisive for an effective development process abroad, this combined with an ongoing willingness and ability to learn, leading to the generation of a sort of “know how” (practical intelligence). We conclude giving two recommendations to corporations; one on the role of HR corporate in charge, advising four key behaviours to improve efficiency: the SCSC’s (Strategic, Credible, Supportive, Considerate) and the second on the top executives follow-up, more precisely we recommend the creation of an expat ID profile; “the expat ID” that will help enhance the global talent management of such an individual

Full textThis thesis deals with the social representations of handicap in French society, by questionning the fundamental subject of otherness, our conception of difference, in both political and sanitary fields. The observation held in South West region highlighted the cultural and heritage of where the current representations of handicap come from : fantasies, fears, idea of a contagion of handicap... the social representation would therefore have barely progressed in spite of the globalization of culture (J.P. Warnier, 2008). Limited to the picture of a wheelchair, the subject of handicap consists more in a political and sanitary stake, since it is in the heart of the evolution of society. As a matter of fact, the law of February 11th 2005 impose on communities to assure their accessibility, in order to allow equal opportunities for handicapped people. Through this compliance of the environment, the conception of handicap is limited to mobility. Therefore, it seems that there is still an unconscious will to keep handicapped people at the margin of society. Therefore, we can claim that social representations still hold an important role in collective behavior. Their evolution requires to purchase an experiential knowledge. That's why we wanted to corroborate this statement thanks to a qualitative investigation organized with students in nursing school

Full textService-dominant logic is a mindset in marketing literature which embraces a process orientation rather than an output orientation. Moreover, S-D logic emphasizes the role of operant resources (e.g skills) rather than operand (tangible) resources, which importance is high as there are the source of competitive advantage. The most important contribution of this emerging school of thought is that customers shift from being passive to active, who always co-create value with firms and other stakeholders. Understanding therefore what leads to value co-creation is a major issue and also neglected. Furthermore, although this shift has important implications for all service activities, very little research has focused on service recovery context. What is more it is not yet known what contributes to value co-creation and what is the role of operant resources in a service recovery context, while prior studies have no examined under which circumstances value is co-created and what motivates customers to contribute their resources in the service recovery process. With the goal of addressing these issues, this study focuses on the underlying mechanism of how operant resources are utilized during service recovery and, in turn, under which conditions co-allocation of these resources generates co-created value. It argues that the consumers’ ability to integrate their resources to co-recover from a service failure motivates them to express higher value co-recovery in-role behavior and hence enjoy higher hedonic and utilitarian values. To test this claim, this dissertation investigates the impact of consumers’ ability to co-recover on value co-recovery in-role behavior by taking into account extrinsic and intrinsic motivation as mediators. It also explores the role of several moderating variables (role clarity, internal blame, trust in service provider’s resolution ability, and negative emotions) to gain a deeper understanding of the co-recovery process. The results reveal that only extrinsic motivation partially mediates the relationship between ability to co-recover and value co-recovery in-role behavior. Furthermore, outcomes demonstrate that value co-recovery in-role behavior increases utilitarian value but decreases hedonic value

Full textExperiential marketing is built around a promise: to be able to create and offer its customers extraordinary experiences. This theoretical framework, which is over thirty years old, is part of a traditional vision of marketing; the company must create value for its customers and in the experiential paradigm, this creation involves the setting up of an experiential context aiming at re-enchanting the consumption. This observation has raised several questions for the author: on the one hand can the company create experiments? and on the other hand what do we mean by "re-enchantment"? These are the questions that nourished the initial reflection of this thesis. This reflection led to the formulation of a problem and research questions around the ordinary experience lived by the consumer. In marketing several authors have identified the main aspects that emerge from the ordinary experiences of consumers. Nevertheless, this research does not capture what they represent from the point of view of the consumer. However, from a managerial perspective, identifying the "ordinary" from the consumer's point of view will enable companies to understand where the value they perceive from the experience they have described as ordinary is. Thus, this would allow companies to set up measures devices to improve the ordinary of their customers through the implementation of a daily marketing. Thanks to a qualitative methodology (interviews and photo-analysis), this research examines the understanding of consumers' experiences through experiences they describe as ordinary. With the help of scientific works and the original contribution of literature that this thesis provides an analysis of this ordinary universe through consumption. Searching what constitutes this type of experience makes it possible to interpretative framework which will help understand the meaning that consumers attach to it
