Abstract:
The paper presents the analytical information about the development of exhibition activity in Moscow as an information, communication and intellectual resources of socio-economic development of the region. On the basis of extensive statisticsthe author traced the dynamics of quantitative and qualitative development indexes of the sphere of exhibition and fair activities, which directly depends on the state of economics and investment activity in the territory. Exhibitions and fairs in Moscow is one of the most important sectors of the economy of the city, that largely determines the socio-economic and cultural development of the capital. 15 exhibition venues of the capital annually hold approximately 550 exhibition events with international participation, including the ones proposed by foreign organizations. The main trend in recent years has been to move many exhibitions fromunspecialized platforms and poorly equipped exhibition centers to complexes of international level. In Moscow exhibition centers that meet international standards are Expocenter and Crocus Expo. Moscow has 943.2 thousand square meters of exhibition spaces. Another feature of Moscow exhibition market is the prevalence of specialized and highly specialized exhibitions. The market of trade exhibitions and fairs develops more in the direction of B2B, i.e. business to business. Whereas regional-level activities are mainly targeted at fi nal customers. An important aspect of the exhibition-fair and congress activities is its socio-economic orientation, that providesfor increased business activity in the regions, development of regional economies, eff ective market positioning of territories, creation of new jobs and permanent employment in the region’s infrastructure. The author concludes that there is a need for state regulation of the exhibition activity, development and improvement of the regulatory and legal framework for its regulation.

Abstract:
The article provides insights into the role of exhibitions in managing innovative development of enterprises in various industries, with or without consideration of risks posed by the COVID crisis. Based on the results of previous research, the findings reveal that the process of innovation development management should involve management decisions made both on each of its structural elements separately and overall. An emphasis is put that the choice of company innovative development strategy and its market promotion strategy for products / services affect the significance and relevance of company exhibition participation as well as the need to plan the exhibition participation costs. The results of the survey of managers and executives in various sectors of the economy who participated in exhibitions during 2019-2020 demonstrate that these costs might also depend on the exhibition objectives and the formats perceived by managers within the overall plan of company innovative development management. The study discusses the major exhibition participation goals in the framework of implementing alternative strategies of enterprise innovative development along with providing evidence that exhibition participation is of the highest priority in case of implementing a novel strategy, and the lowest – in case of using a retro-innovation strategy. The case studies from the selected companies of consumer goods industries presented the goals and a brief description of the specifics of their participation in exhibitions in the process of managing their innovative development. The conclusion has verified that the exhibition participation priorities in the process of enterprise innovative development management vary significantly subject to industry affiliation and the selected strategy for innovative development as well as may result from various restrictions imposed by a pandemic, in particular. Apart from the above, the findings have identified the risks of exhibition activities during the COVID period and outlined anticipated trends of change in business decisions as to exhibition participation. It is argued that online exhibitions have proved a good alternative to traditional exhibitions activities, however they challenge the application of advanced digital technologies. The results of this study can be used to enhance enterprise innovative development management practices.

Abstract:
Creative holography could still be considered a fringe medium or methodology, compared to mainstream art activities. Unsurprisingly, work using this technology continues to be shown together with other holographic works. This paper examines the merits of exhibiting such works alongside other media. It also explores how this can contribute to the development of a personal critical framework and a broader analytical discourse about creative holography. The perceived limitations of showing holograms in a “gallery ghetto” are explored using early critical art reviews about these group exhibitions. An international exhibition, which toured the United Kingdom (UK) and Australia, is used as a framework to expand the discussion. These exhibitions include examples of the author’s holographic work and those of artists working with other (non-holographic) media and approaches. The touring exhibition as a transient, research-informed process is investigated, as is its impact on the critical development of work using holography as a valid medium, approach, and methodology in the creative arts.

Abstract:
With the exhibition sector becoming increasingly important for the hospitality and tourism industry, it is critical to understand what drives the success of an exhibition. Through a comprehensive literature review, we first identified two broad categories of factors, namely exhibition attributes and exhibitor perceptions, that influence exhibitor satisfaction and loyalty. Next, a meta-analysis was conducted based on 26 empirical papers studying the Chinese exhibition market to quantitatively evaluate these relationships. The results show that among the exhibition attributes, booth management, service personnel, and exhibition environment are the most important factors affecting exhibitor satisfaction, while exhibition brand is the most important factor affecting loyalty. Among exhibitor perceptions, service quality is more important for satisfaction, while perceived value is more meaningful to loyalty. This study offers insights into strategies for exhibition organizers to cultivate long-term relationships, and to better cope with the challenges of emerging forces such as the Internet.

Abstract:
The exhibition industry, despite its relative novelty, is actively developing and interacting with all sectors of the global and national economies. International exhibitions offer producers and exporters ways of developing new markets, displaying samples of goods, services and technologies. For the government, supporting exhibitors, both inside the country and internationally, has turned into one of the organizational forms of pursuing their most important economic interests. Due to the objective trends and in furtherance of national interests it has become necessary to develop a strategy for the development of the exhibition and trade fair industry, to determine its priorities with competitive advantages and to create integrated program/projectbased mechanisms for its implementation. A current trend in the development of the new industry consists in various forms and methods of its support at both the federal and regional levels. The issue of regulation and standardization of the exhibition industry, and training professional personnel has also been on the agenda. The fragmentary and discrete approach to creating standards for exhibition and fair activities should be replaced by comprehensive management. At the national level, it is also necessary to implement a systemic unified approach to financial motivation and compensation for costs of participation in exhibitions, and to use other support measures as aimed at both organizers of international exhibitions and exhibition facilities. The specified development trends of the brand-new exhibition and trade fair industry are being discussed in this paper.

Abstract:
The protection of industrial cultural heritage is related to sustainable urban development. Cultural and creative parks (CCPs) are a way for many cities to protect their industrial cultural heritage. In the context of CCPs, this study examines the relationships among the antecedents of exhibition experiential value, CCP experiential value, and behavioral intentions. Surveying 428 visitors in two well-known CCPs in Taipei, this study found that the four antecedents (attractiveness, existential authenticity, self-congruence, and exhibition–park image congruence) have a positive impact on exhibition experiential value. Exhibition experiential value has a positive impact on CCP experiential value, which in turn, affects behavioral intentions toward the CCP. In addition, this study finds that exhibition experiential value has a mediating effect between the four antecedents and CCP experiential value. Moreover, CCP experiential value has a mediating effect between exhibition experiential value and behavioral intentions. The findings of this study provide a direction for CCPs to achieve sustainable development through exhibitions that can attract more tourists.

Abstract:
The object of analysis in this study is exhibition and trade fair activities in Ukraine and abroad. It is argued that in contemporary realia, exhibition and trade fair activities is a crucial strategic element in building marketing communications. The research results on the development trends of modern exhibition business in Ukraine suggest that the exhibition industry is still in its infancy. The findings reveal the sector-specific issues. In particular, among the key challenges are the following: insufficient exhibition infrastructure development, the lack of transparency of the exhibition market, the lack of experience in the most effective use of this type of product promotion, etc. Based on statistical analysis and the legal regulatory framework review, the key exhibition business development trends in Ukraine have been presented along with identifying the major factors hindering the exhibition industry development. From this perspective, a conclusion has been drawn about the conceptual and terminological immaturity in the area of carrying out exhibition and trade fair activities in Ukraine. An emphasis is also put on the profound effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on the exhibition industry globally. The study results demonstrate evidence of a significant decline in economic performance in this industry; in particular, this refers to a drastic decrease in companies’ income, a drop in investment flows, and costs of organizing exhibition events. Modern business environment is facing dramatic changes in exhibition and trade fair management, especially in the context of digital technologies advancements. A shift in priorities is a forced necessity, since virtual events is the safest method to promote companies and brands. Investing in virtual participation remains a key element in the survival plan of many exhibitions. The study discusses the need to design a strategy to boost exhibition activities in Ukraine, with due regard to the national socioeconomic development specifics along with suggesting priority measures to support the exhibition industry, such as affordable loans, tax «holidays» to ensure liquidity, long-term support in the form of direct subsidies which will contribute to sales and exhibition services market recovery, as well as further economic development in Ukraine.

Abstract:
Scientific and medical collections contain many of what we may call epistemic objects, i.e. objects that have played important roles in the production of knowledge. Drawing on the work of H.-J. Rheinberger on ‘epistemic things’ and J. Pickstone on ‘ways of knowing’ this paper considers ways of exhibiting epistemic objects that utilize their knowledge-generating potential and allow them to continue to stimulate curiosity and generate knowledge in the exhibition. The epistemic potential of the objects can then be made to work together with the function of the exhibition as a knowledge-generating set-up in its own right. A focus on epistemic history further allows the cultural and scientific roles of objects of science to be combined in exhibitions. This paper takes its point of departure in the development of displays for the exhibition The Body Collected at Medical Museion in Copenhagen, which shows how anatomical specimens have been used to generate medical knowledge. Abstract:
In recent years one of the most important trends in the development of history exhibitions in major museums has been the use of interdisciplinary project teams for content development. This approach, often referred to as the team based model of content development, has, in many institutions, replaced older models of exhibition production built around the expertise of the curator. The implementation of team based models has had a profound impact on the way exhibitions are produced. When done well it has helped deliver exhibitions combining a strong focus on audience needs with in-depth scholarship and collections research. In some contexts, however, the tyranny of the team has given rise to a form of museological trench warfare in which different stakeholders struggle for creative control of an exhibition. In this article I will explore some aspects of the team based approach with reference to the development of the opening suite of exhibitions for the National Museum of Australia (NMA) in 2001. My observations are drawn from my experience as the lead curator of the Nation Gallery, one of the NMA’s opening exhibitions.

Abstract:
The title of this paper reveals an ambiguity of the issue analysed and ambivalent role of architecture at exhibitions: architecture here can be perceived as an object or topic tackled within exhibition (exhibition of architecture) as well as means to form the space of exposition (architecture of exhibition). The paper analyses different implications of architecture at exhibition and will try to demonstrate that terms of interdisciplinarity and collaboration can be introduced while talking about presentation of architecture and its context. Also, the transformations of relationship between an object displayed and the way it has been exhibited are discussed. In this paper the Lithuanian context of exhibitions is discussed through the scale of types of exhibitions, levels of displays and the collaboration that emerges from them. To examine the problematic nature of double-edged perception of architecture, three types of exhibitions are defined in the paper – documenting, researching and summarizing exhibition practices which differ in the methods and aims of their analysis and curatorial praxis used. Also, for the analysis of architecture of exhibitions (or a display) three levels have been characterized – 2D, 3D and 4D; apart from the technical part they are installed at exhibitions, they differ in the level the audience is involved and in the level the information can be interpreted.

Abstract:
Exhibitions provide a great variety of opportunities for shedding light on a scientific topic. By visiting an exhibition, and even more so by curating an exhibition, students gain great insights into scientific topics. Developing an exhibition offers students multiple ways of engaging with a topic, and presents a multifaceted learning environment, in which skills believed to be highly relevant for individuals’ development into active, well-educated citizens can be developed. These skills support individuals in their private and working life, as well as enabling them to participate in a global society – with some of them (such as project management) being rarely addressed at school at all. To empower teachers to unfold this potential and create professional-like exhibitions within the tight time and budget frame of today’s school life, a simple exhibition framework (EXPOneer) is presented in this article. Its design will be used in the EU-funded project IRRESISTIBLE. Using IKEA shelves, the system allows students to build their own professional-like exhibitions at school based on available knowledge and everyday resources, without distinctive craftsmanship or special tools. The incorporation of student-curated exhibitions (SCEs) into school practice will also be discussed, based on examples of current exhibition projects. After briefly sketching the theoretical background in the first part of this article, the second part aims to enable teachers, as well as other people working with students, to start their own professional-like exhibition project.

Abstract:
Purpose The purpose of this study was to provide a holistic view of exhibition destination attractiveness by examining perceptions of two of the three key stakeholders (exhibition organizers and visitors) and contrasting them with those of exhibitors. Design/methodology/approach This research used a mixed method approach, collecting 535 responses from visitors attending nine business-to-business exhibitions in four major cities in China via structured surveys. In addition, eight in-depth interviews with CEOs/owners of leading global and Chinese exhibition companies were conducted. Findings The findings revealed that exhibitors may go almost anywhere where there is potential for successful business. In contrast, visitors prefer exhibition destinations with good accessibility to minimize travel time and an attractive leisure environment that offers a degree of enjoyment in addition to taking care of business. A destination’s “economic environment” and “cluster effects” were comparatively less important to them. Organizers were cognizant of these differences, contributing to their reluctance in taking large-scale, branded exhibitions to second-tier destinations, despite considerable efforts by these cities to improve their infrastructure. Practical implications This study offers practical guidelines for destination administrators and exhibition organizers with regard to evaluating destination resources for long-term exhibition development. Originality/value In contrast to prior studies, this research identifies significant differences in perceptions of exhibition destination attractiveness among all three key industry stakeholders. It also presents a persuasive case for the need to clearly differentiate between the attractiveness of a destination for attracting/hosting exhibitions versus conventions, rather than approaching the subject from a more generic meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions (MICE) segment/business events perspective.

Abstract:
Over the last hundred years the booming exhibition industry has promoted development, which in turn has led to environmental damage. The construction of exhibition buildings has been part of this phenomenon. At first sight improvement in energy efficiency techniques would seem to offset the increased energy demand from both exhibitions and exhibition buildings. However, whether energy efficiency technologies truly help to improve building performance to the point where a building is ‘environmentally friendly’ throughout its whole life-cycle is uncertain. This research is part of investigating whether energy efficiency technologies are really the easiest means to lower costs and energy requirements when the whole useful life of an exhibition building is considered. This article investigates the energy use of three case study buildings based on their operating and embodied energy flows. The results suggest that modern technologies for making exhibition buildings more sustainable may not be as effective as the simpler strategies used over 100 years ago. This suggests a different approach may be needed for sustainable development in the twenty first century.

Abstract:
The article provides an overview of trade fairs for breeding cows at the international and regional levels in a historical context. The purpose of such exhibitions is an exchange of practical experience in breeding cattle of various breeds, promotion of selection achievements of the best farm businesses, identification of champion cows based on comprehensive assessment. An animal exhibition is also a show consisting of various entertainments, contests, including events for children. This is a place for spending time with one’s family, for communication, having meals, buying souvenirs, etc. The paper offers a description of the summarized experience accumulated and acquired at international cow exhibitions in foreign countries. Using “The Royal” exhibition as an example (Toronto, Ontario, Canada), an insight is provided into certain features of preparing cows for exhibition or subtle details of cow styling. It has become customary in Ukraine to hold Agroindustrial Exhibition in early June on the premises of the Expocentre of Ukraine, National Complex in Kyiv. One of the major events of this exhibition is the Animal EX display – demonstration and auction of breeding animals. CHAIKA State-Owned Company (Boryspil District, Kyiv Region) is a permanent participant in cow exhibitions. The article provides an analysis of milk productivity of show cows during higher lactation (both in the first 305 days of lactation and in the entire lactation period), including per generation, within a decade (2011-2019). In that period show animals also withdrew from the herd, so their lifetime production and breeding capacity were also assessed. It is concluded that cattle exhibitions are one of the main tools for selection and pedigree breeding. Such events are necessary for the successful development of dairy cattle breeding, for exchange of experience, development of new methods of selection, animal management and feeding technologies, an extension of the information field in that sphere.

Abstract:
In the development process of art, it is seen that many different artistic styles follow each other. Each movement has been linked to each other in a chain and the way of expression of the artists has been directly affected by the conditions of the period and the cultural background. Contemporary art is undoubtedly completely different from any movement that comes before it. The sharpest point of the break is that the perception of beauty has changed. As a result of this change, a new type of expression that is often difficult to understand, questioning, related to concepts and contexts has emerged. With the transformative power of contemporary art, every object can gain the ability to represent and become a work of art. In this respect, making iconographic analysis in order to better understand the nature of contemporary art requires evaluating the work together with the conditions of the period. In this study, Damien Hirst's new exhibition named "Fact Paintings and Fact Sculptures" has been examined together with the subject of the works, the explicit or hidden meanings of the objects, the past exhibitions of the artist and the similarities of his works with his past works, and the artistic conditions of the period. As a result of the examination, it is seen that the exhibition clearly reflects Hirst's artistic style.

Abstract:
A successful library exhibition is usually seen as one that attracts large numbers of visitors and improves their knowledge of a topic. The ways that exhibitions benefit library staff, library collections, and library operations are much less frequently considered. Though secondary, these internal outcomes are an important part of how libraries profit from exhibitions, in the same way that stock dividends supply a substantial percentage of overall investment returns. This essay views exhibition curatorship as a form of professional and organizational development and calls attention to how it helps librarians develop skills, knowledge, resources, and relationships that enhance library services and staff careers. Librarians at small- and medium-sized institutions without professionally trained exhibitions staff are the target audience, but the perspectives outlined here are broadly relevant.

Abstract:
AbstractOne of the major archaeological museums, the Pergamon Museum in Berlin, serves as an example to discuss present problems of museology. I argue that the development of museums has to be analysed from a combination of perspectives, including an historical one, that of visitors and of museum staff. In a first section, the paper outlines the history of the Pergamon Museum, including an institutional history and the larger socio–political framework. To highlight the range of possibilities of understanding, I give two readings of the museum from the viewpoints of differently oriented visitors, one colonialist, the other postmodern. I then consider current debates among curators and distinguish between two main exhibition strategies, one pragmatist, the other purist. Finally, I discuss the larger framework in which museums exist, which shows their problematic status. Using critical theory's distinction between culture industry and affirmative (elite) culture, I show that the Pergamon and other museums survive today only through an uneasy compromise between these two extreme poles of culture.

In autumn 2018, eight Museum Studies students from the University of Helsinki had the opportunity to put theory into practice and to gain hands-on experience making a real exhibition. The ‘Museum Content Planning’ course was a collaborative project between the National Museum of Finland and the university in which the students, together with the museum staff, built a pop-up exhibition about the Indian festival Durga Puja in only five weeks. The exhibition showed in the National Museum for two weeks, and the students were involved in most stages of the exhibition’s development. They also blogged about their learning experience. In this case study, we present our reflections on both the benefits and challenges of collaboratively creating an exhibition, which is simultaneously an accredited learning experience for university students.

Abstract:
The meaning of exhibition and convention activity is currently undergoing serious changes. Contemporary forums and exhibitions promote goods and services, as well as create new social, economic, and political relation standards. The contemporary crisis has revealed some regulatory gaps. However, innovative marketing approach to exhibition and convention events can help industry to recover and grow. Exhibition and convention events produce not only economics effects: they also promote institutional, public, and innovative development. The present research featured cooperation and coordination of stakeholders in exhibition and convention activities, as well as related legal, marketing, and theoretical factors. The research objective was to develop the economy of events – a new methodological approach to assessment of non-material effects of exhibition and convention activity. The research was based on the methods of institutional economics; the paper offers an analysis of existing legal frameworks and standards. The author believes that exhibition and convention sphere needs institutional background based on the interaction of existing norms and methods within event system. This theoretical aspect made it possible to consider the role of events in the context of building sustainable interrelationships between institutes and society, as well as to reinterpret the role of exhibition and convention activity in the modern agenda.
