During the 1920s and 1930s, Japan and France enjoyed particularly rich cultural exchanges. Many Japanese artists came to Paris to study Western painting, some going so far as to compete in Parisian Salons. At least 200 artists exhibited at the parisiens Salons. On the Japanese side, for example, 32 group exhibitions of Japanese artists were organised in France during this period, either by the imperial government or on the initiative of the artists themselves. More than 70 solo exhibitions in Parisian galleries were also dedicated to Japanese artists. On the French side, the art dealer Herman d'Oelsnitz and the Société d'art franco-japonaise organised no fewer than 23 exhibitions of French art in Japan. In 1928, masterpieces from the Musée du Luxembourg were sent to Tokyo, while an exhibition of Japanese art was held at the Musée du Jeu de Paume in 1929. After this exhibition, apart from the 13 paintings bought by the French state, 81 paintings and 31 decorative arts were sold to private collectors. As for prints, 19 were bought by the French State. These particularly intense relations lead us to ask questions such as: why did Japanese artists come to Paris? What selection criteria did Japan adopt for exhibitions of Japanese art? How were Japanese artists and their works perceived in France? What type of work was acquired in France, Japanese-style painting (nihonga) or Western-style painting (yōga), or both? The analyses will pave the way for a better understanding of the dynamic exchanges between Japan and France, exchanges whose importance is also reflected in today's art world

The goal of the education is to help people build their personality, and it is the role of the school training to help them acquire the necessary liberal arts as well as the power of having a better judgement to a better living. Liberal arts has a universal and a contingent aspect. Until the 20th century the liberal arts essentially contains the Humanities and the Arts, but later the knowledge of scientific subjects acquires a very important meaning. The liberal arts does not only imply the knowledge of the classical texts. The philosopher Jose Ortega y Gasset, of Spanish origin, described the liberal arts " Mission of the University " in 1930: “the liberal arts is a system of various ideas which is possessed by each era. More precisely, it is a system of various ideas which characterize a done era “. What is the system of the various ideas of our time? We would say that it is Science. The main characteristic of the modern liberal arts is that a big part of it's contain provides from the scientific field. However, in the beginning of the 90's, the diminishing interest in science became a confirmed phenomenon not only in Japan, but also in France and in other countries of the world. Japan, a country of small surface, and poor in natural resources was able to have an unprecedented economic growth after the Second World War thanks to the technical renovation based on science. The modern economical society has been pushed up by science and technology in the broad sense of the term. For a long time, we consider that the society of the 21st century is based on knowledge and, if we think about the future of the countries, the diminishing interest of young people in science is an alarming situation. How can we understand this phenomenon? In reality, it is not the first time that the separation between the literary and the scientific knowledge is observed. Charles Percy Snow, who was the councillor of the science of the British government, has already rung the warning bell in his work " The two cultures " in 1959: " The complete misunderstanding of the science is the centre which influences everything ". Indeed, because a literary intellectual understands nothing in science, he becomes more and more anti-scientific. On the other hand, among the scientists, the misunderstanding becomes more marked between the literary scientists and the scientists of applied sciences. Progress and development of sciences and technology led to the specialization and the scission of the studies. During the 20th century, cases of mutual misunderstanding got enchained. This behaviour " of not trying to mutually understand each other " could be fundamentally linked to the nowadays diminishing interest in science. This observation of Snow noticed in the breast of the scientific community goes on to the whole society as one goes along of the years, and becomes apparent in the nineties. The behaviour of the society " of the adults " influences the sense of the values of the children [. . . ]

Former Japanese Army buildings built from Meiji to Showa era are still found throughout Japan. Nevertheless their heritage value has not been sufficiently evaluated. Furthermore since these architectures face demolition, there are calls for their proper historical assessment which is a necessary step to construct means for their preservation. In this paper, the term “Army Heritage” refers to former military buildings or structures of the Japanese Army that have architectural or technical importance for preservation. The purpose of this research is to evaluate the technological transfer in regard to these heritages from France to Japan, as there is evidence that the Japanese Army invited arranged military missions from France in order to create new systems and facilities. The research is based on studies of original documentations in libraries and archives both in Japan and in France. The author studied remaining military buildings, specifically, an officers’ mess hall of an aviation school in Akeno and an early stage military barrack of the 16th infantry regiment in Shibata. The investigation included dismantling method in Shibata. The author analyzed the results in three categories. 1, The system and organization of designs and plans of military architectures. 2, The prototypes of the architectural planning of military bases, barracks, covered paddock, officers’ mess and hangars. 3, Japanese and French human networks in the old Japanese Army. From these analyses, the author found that French technologies were imported whenever the Japanese Army needed innovative technologies like modern Army or aviation. Additionally, the French networks had been undoubtedly established in the Japanese Army from Meiji to the first period of Showa era. This thesis can serve as an important reference to the remaining “Army Heritages”, therefore the author proposes conservation to the Minister of Defense through this study

This thesis focuses on the cultural exchanges between France and Italy in the fields of literary translation and publishing at the beginning of the 21st century. Its main goal is to study the various stages that precede, accompany and follow the publication of a work of French literature in Italy. Having placed our subject in the context of the main historical relations between the two countries in the field of literature, our analysis concentrates on three key moments: the choice of book, its translation and finally, its publication and reception. At the centre of our analysis is the knowledge that the tastes, canons, literary traditions and cultures of the two countries undoubtedly affect the reception of a work and the expectations of readers and critics. We will therefore take into consideration the role of editorial strategies throughout this process from the purchase of the copyright to paratextual decisions, i.e. the methods used to arouse readers’ interest or supply information. We will also examine the figure of the translator, the “driving force” in the text’s transition, as it is often their choice of language and style that provides the key to our understanding of it.Given that the publication and fortune of a literary work in a foreign country are the result of a complex process and a stratified accumulation of exchanges, stereotypes and multiple operations, our research has adopted analytical methods from a wide range of fields and applied them to a selection of novels published in Italy over the last ten years

This research which is based on the relationships of stock prices and exchange rates among Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, Germany, England and France by using Unit Root test, Johansen Cointegration, Vector Auto Regression Model (VAR), Vector Error Correction Model (VECM), Impulse Response and Forecast Error Variance Decomposition, researched period from January 1, 2000 to June 30, 2005, will explore mutual relationships between long-term and short-term periods for unit country, region and cross regions respectively and obtains the results as below. Firstly, the result of unit root test shows the original data of Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, Germany, England and France are nonstationary time serials. However, they are all stationary after using first difference. Secondly, there are cointergration vector and long-term equilibrium relationships in stock prices revealed from Johansen Cointergration test among cross regions of Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, Germany, England and France. It implies that investors can make profits in investment of cross regions through mutual prediction. On the contrary, they can disperse risk by taking different portfolios. Thirdly, according to the tests of VAR and VECM, there are feedback relations between returns of stock price and exchange rate in Taiwan. The returns of stock prices are unidirectional leading the returns of exchange rates in Korea and Germany. The return of stock price in Japan and the return of exchange rate in Korea affect those in Taiwan respectively. The returns of stock price in Germany and France are unidirectional leading those in England. Fourthly, from the analysis of Impulse Response and Forecast Error Variance Decomposition, we find the returns of exchange rate are mainly affected by the returns of stock prices in most countries. In addition, the returns of stock prices and exchange rates have higher explanation facing itself respectively, and the explanation of returns of stock prices is higher than that of returns of exchange rates.

In the day that international exchange become frequent, not only let Sports competitions level up with sports exchange but also introduce the new knowledge and level up the academic level with PE and Sport Academic Exchanges. At the 1964, Japan held the Summer Olympics successfully, and thereby to level up the academic research greatly about PE and Sport. Moreover, the history and culture between Taiwan and Japan also have close relations. Therefore, Japan is one of the important countries in the development of Taiwan’s PE and sport academic exchanges. In this context, this study would explore the development of PE and sport academic exchanges between Taiwan and Japan from 1945 until 2012. The study methodologies are historical method and expert interviews, and time of the study ranges from 1945 until 2012, and explore the development of PE and sport academic exchanges between Taiwan and Japan from three parts of exchanges on study in Japan, academic seminars and translation of PE and sport academic works from Japanese. The results are listed as follows: 1. With 50s and 60s, study PE and sport in Japan, the development of Taiwan’s PE and sport academic exchanges have started. But with the scholar studied in Japan retired year by year, and America is the principal country of overseas for a long time study in our country. It is hard to pass down the study PE and sport in Japan. 2. In 60s and 70s, under the demand of academic development, the translation of PE and sport academic works from Japanese were published by the recommendation and translation from the scholar studied in Japan. But with the development of PE and sport academic works become mature, the demand of PE and sport academic works also become less. 3. With 1973s Ministry of Education Department of PE was establishe, recommendation from the scholar studied in Japan and the close relations and convenient geographic location, the PE and sport academic exchanges between Taiwan and Japan would be realized in seminars.
