Abstract:
The thoracic epidural analgesia (TEA) remains the standard gold for analgesic support in thoracic surgery, there is an interesting alternative to epidural analgesia, which is the paravertebral block (PVB). The aim in our study was to assess the value of performing a PVB in the management of postoperative pain in thoracic surgery compared to TEA. Methods: 80 patients were randomized to receive either epidural analgesia (n = 38, 10 cc bupivacaine 0.5% + 10 ϒ Sufentanyl then 10 cc Bupivacain 0.1% + 10 ϒ Sufentanyl via a PCA device) or PVB analgesia loss of resistance technique (n = 40, 10 cc bupivacaine 0.5% + 10 ϒ Sufentanyl via a PCA device). All patients received standard general anesthesia. The peri-operative parameters studied include standard measurement, EVA scale at rest and mobilization, use of morphinics. Results: there is a significant difference between the two groups and the incidents of puncture were significantly more important for the APDT group. The postoperative pain assessment by EVA did not show a significant difference between TEA and PVB Conclusion: the comparison of PVB to TPDA did not find significant difference in the efficacy of analgesia and the side effects. The BPV could be proposed as a first intention for postoperative analgesia in thoracic surgery.

Abstract:
AbstractWax precipitation has become a serious problem for the petroleum industry. The problem occurs when there is equilibrium disturbance on the pressure and temperature as well as crude oil composition. Wax deposits will eventually result in restriction of the fluid flow inside the pipeline, and severe deposition will cause blockage. The chemical additives currently being implemented in the industry have various limitations including the high cost and the irreversible impact it has on the environment. Therefore, the use of cheaper organic wax inhibitor obtained from crude palm oil (CPO) and crude palm kernel oil (CPKO) on the rheology and deposition of wax was investigated by using Chenor waxy crude oil from the Penyu basin, Pahang, Malaysia. To compare the efficiency of palm oil additives in inhibiting wax deposition, currently utilized chemical additives such as triethanolamine (TEA) and ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) were also examined. The pour point of the crude oil was determined using SETA cloud & cryostat, while the rheological behavior of the crude was determined using a rotational Fann viscometer. The results obtained from this study reveal that CPO and CPKO could be used to improve the flow of crude oil, especially when 1 wt.% CPO or when 0.5 wt. % CPKO is used. It was also noted that the palm-based additives were much more effective at reducing the viscosity of the Chenor crude oil than the commercial wax inhibitor tested (TEA and EVA).

Abstract:
AbstractAmong the flow assurance problems that the petroleum industry faces, the deposition of paraffin waxes on to the wall of the pipeline is the most challenging. The challenge arises when the crude oil temperature decreases below the wax appearance temperature which prompts wax crystallization in the crude oil. An efficient method in remedying paraffin wax deposition is the utilization of chemical inhibitors. However, currently used chemical inhibitors are costly and environmentally harmful if a spillage occurs. Therefore, the use of biodegradable or environmentally friendly inhibitors as potential chemical inhibitors is being studied by various researchers. This study investigated oleic acid, poly (ethylene-co-vinyl acetate) (EVA) and triethanolamine (TEA) as inhibitors that perform based on the van der Waals intermolecular interaction between the main wax component molecule eicosane C20H42 using molecular dynamics simulations Material Studio 8.0 software package. In order to analyse the desired structural property which is the radial distribution function (RDF), COMPASS force field was used. The RDF and g(r) function portrayed the functional atoms which aid in inhibiting the agglomeration and crystallization of the wax crystal formation. The presence of a carbonyl oxygen in oleic acid plays a vital role to inhibit the wax formation through the van der Waals interaction between active hydrogen atoms in eicosane molecule. Therefore, the chances of wax inhibition in eicosane are higher by introducing oleic acid as an inhibitor as compared to EVA and TEA. The results were then validated experimentally utilizing a cold finger technique under static condition.

Abstract:

Abstract:
AbstractOne of the major concerns during the production of crude oil especially in tropical waters is the deposition of wax on to the walls of the pipeline. This is due to the low seabed temperatures which can be below the wax appearance temperature (WAT) which leads to wax depositing out through molecular diffusion. Currently, there are many methods to prevent and remedy wax deposition but most of these solutions pose a serious environmental threat and are expensive to produce. Hence, this research investigated the use of an organic and cheaper alternative by utilizing synthetic fatty acid esters such as oleic acid which has shown promising results in reducing the pour point of waxy crude oils. The solution that was used was of palm oil origin, crude palm oil (CPO) and crude palm kernel oil (CPKO) and was subsequently compared with the pour point depressant and wax inhibition efficiency of the current industry used inhibitors utilizing the SETA Pour Point and Cloud Point as well as the cold finger apparatus. It was observed that the palm oil inhibitors were highly effective at 1 wt.% due to the high composition of oleic acid present portraying a similar result to Triethanolamine (TEA) while Ethylene Vinyl Acetate (EVA) performed best at low concentration of 0.1 wt.% but deteriorates significantly as the concentration increases due to the polar end agglomerating among itself.

Abstract:
This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of tea powder in diets on the growth performance, meat quality, muscular amino acid, fatty acid profile, and serum biochemical indices of pigs. A total of 120 local Chinese pigs (Tibetan × Bama miniature pigs) were randomly assigned to five treatment groups, each with six pens and four pigs per pen. During a 60-day experiment, these groups of pigs were fed the normal diet and the diet supplemented with 1%, 2%, 4%, and 6% tea powder, respectively. The results showed that the supplementation of tea powder did not affect the growth performance of pigs. However, the dietary tea powder inclusion decreased (p < 0.05) the average fat thickness, total fat, and abdominal fat, and increased (p < 0.05) the total muscle as well. In addition, the dietary 2% tea powder decreased (p < 0.05) the muscle lightness (L*) and yellowness (b*). Compared with the control group, the dietary supplementation with 1%, 2%, and 4% tea powder raised (p < 0.05) the total amino acids (TAA) and essential amino acids (EAA), and dietary 4% and 6% tea powder increased (p < 0.05) the C20:5n3 in the muscle tissue. Furthermore, the serum lipid metabolism-related biochemical indices and mRNA expression levels were improved with the addition of tea powder. These results indicated that dietary tea powder might improve the carcass traits and meat quality of the Chinese native finishing pigs, but it does not affect their growth performance. Tea powder could be fully developed and reasonably applied as a dietary supplement.

The production and distribution of toasted mate tea in Brazil has increased, which has resulted in its greater consumption. Mate tea is obtained by roasting non-fermented erva-mate in order to produce toasted erva-mate or toasted mate tea. However, although the product is much appreciated, studies of its chemical composition and the concentration of polyphenols, particularly flavonols present in toasted mate tea, are few and often controversial. This paper elucidates some misunderstandings involving the nomenclature of erva-mate and toasted mate, and mainly provides an overview of the composition of polyphenols and antioxidant capacity of toasted mate tea and its raw material, erva-mate, in comparison with other teas, the compositions of which were found in the literature.

Abstract:
The Tea Industry in the Cholo and Mlanje districts of southern Nyasaland emerged during the 1930s under the shelter of the International Tea Regulation Scheme of 1933 which restricted exports by the world's leading producers. In contrast to its East African neighbours, Nyasaland's Tea Industry was well organized locally by the Nyasaland Tea Association and was effectively represented in Britain by its London Committee. Though having to accept restrictions on the planting of new tea, which occasioned some local controversy, the industry, in common with other tea-producing countries, benefited from the rising prices of the 1930s for which the Tea Regulations were largely responsible. By 1938 tea had become one of Nyasaland's few profitable industries. A seeming further advantage was the bulk buying scheme, at guaranteed prices, organized by the British Ministry of Food which lasted throughout the 1940s, but the industry's wartime performance was sluggish as a consequence of poor growing seasons combined with serious shortages of manpower and fertilizer. As a poor quality, low price producer facing chronic labour shortages, which prevented millions of pounds of tea from being picked, Nyasaland greeted with hostility Imperial decisions to withdraw eastern Africa from the International Tea Scheme in 1948, to end bulk buying in 1950, and generally to encourage the free expansion of production. Nyasaland's tea planters were told that henceforth they must face open competition.

Abstract:
China is the largest tea producer in the world; however, tea quality and safety issues have caught broad attention due to pesticide overuse in the growing stage. In order to control the quality and safety of their raw inputs, tea-processing firms in China are expanding their own plantations. Does this backward integration (BI) improve the food safety performance of the tea firms in China? Based on the transaction cost theory, we empirically investigate the effect of tea firms’ BI on their food safety performances, using data from 246 tea firms collected via an online survey in 2021. Controlling the basic background situation and firms’ characteristics, the empirical regression results, when controlling for the self-selection bias, support the hypothesis that BI can improve the food safety performance of the tea industry when it reaches the effective integration level, specifically, 80% or higher. Other factors include that the private brand and asset share of the plantation would also help reduce the firms’ food safety problems. Therefore, the government may consider supporting firms’ BI in the development of tea plantations through one-time subsidies and/or land and labor coordination, so as to improve the food safety situation and industry efficiency.

Abstract:
The possibility of using thermoplastic polymers in photopolymer compositions for SLA and DLP is discussed in this article. The diffusion and mutual solubility of uncured systems based on tert-butyl acrylate (tBA) and ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymers (EVA) or low-density polyethylene (LDPE) were studied. The solubility and diffusion of tBA with EVA containing 7, 20, and 40 wt.% vinyl acetate (VA) and with LDPE in the temperature range 20–75 °C were studied by optical micro-interferometry method. Phase diagrams of LDPE–tBA, EVA-7–tBA, and EVA-20–tBA systems were obtained. It is shown that the compositions are characterized by the phase-state diagrams of amorphous separation with the upper critical solution temperature (UCST). The concentration dependences of the interdiffusion coefficients as well as dependences of the self-diffusion coefficients on VA content and on temperature were plotted. The activation energy of self-diffusion of EVA and LDPE was calculated. It was shown that the most promising tBA modifier is EVA-40, which is completely soluble at all studied temperature ranges. The obtained data on the mixing of the initial components is valuable for further studies of the processes of structure formation during photocuring of compositions, regulation of the phase structure and, as a consequence, the performance characteristics of the 3D printable materials.

Tea (Camellia sinensis) is one of the most popular nonalcoholic beverages in the world. During tea infusion, both essential mineral elements and toxic metals are extracted into the beverage. In oriental countries, almost a liter of tea is consumed daily by an average adult. Thus, high toxic elements in traditional teas can be of concern. Aim of the study was to determine the essential element contents and toxic heavy metal concentrations in tea products available on the market in Turkey and comparing the contents of infusion for Turkish and Ceylon black and green tea types. The associated health risk to tea drinkers were estimated with reference to Tolerable Daily Intake (TDI) Values from US EPA for adults and children. Among the essential elements in all of the black teas purchased from the market, K was present at the highest concentration followed by Mg, Ca and Al. Pb and Mn contents of several tea samples were found over the Tolerable Daily Intake levels.

Abstract:
Copper content and growth of excised hydrilla [DioeciousHydrilla verticillata(L.f.) Royle # HYLLI] apical shoot segments were determined following exposure to copper sulfate (CuSO4), copper-triethanolamine (Cu-TEA), and copper-ethylenediamine (Cu-EDA). For all copper formulations, inhibition of growth was related to the amount of copper associated with the excised shoots. At equal copper exposure, the Cu-EDA formulation produced the greatest inhibition of growth and generally the highest copper levels in the plants. The Cu-EDA formulation inhibited dry weight gain by more than 80% 3 weeks after a 2-h exposure to 2.0 or 4.0 ppmw copper. Under similar conditions, CuSO4or Cu-TEA produced 60% inhibition. The presence or absence of light during a 2-h exposure had no effect on the efficacy of uptake of copper from any of the formulations. Formulation-dependent differences in the mechanism of copper uptake is suggested because rinsing of exposed shoots with dilute acid (0.01N HNO3) removed copper from shoots treated with CuSO4or Cu-TEA but not from those treated with Cu-EDA.

Abstract:
MEXICAN TEA HERB EXTRAT (CHENOPODIUM AMBROSIOIDES L.) FOR ALTERNATIVE CONTROL OF SOYBEAN ROOTH KNOT NEMATODE ABSTRACT Soybean cultivation is of strong influence in agricultural regions in our country as well as having a high-impact on Brazilian trade balance, losses resulting from M.Javanica and M, Incognita in soybeans are the cause of losses in quantity and exacerbated quality of that commodity, aside from impairing the production in producing areas, currently agricultural pesticides are indiscriminately used in the furtherance of combating that agent, encumbering either the producer or the environment. This paper aims to test the use of Mexican tea on soybean cultivation, examining the possible benefits regarding to its efficiency and applicability for reduction and spread of nematode in the soil, as well as a lowering in the use of pesticides and increasing the productivity and other biometric characteristics. The greenhouse of Centro Universitário de Santa Fé do Sul-SP was the location of the experiment, its coordinates are: Latitude: 20° 12' 43'' South, Longitude: 50° 55' 38'', average height is 370m, predominantly tropical climate, according to Köppen. A completely randomized design (CRD) was performed, with five treatments (TA1-water, TB2-0,5%, TC3-1%, TD4-5%, TE5-Marshal star) and 10 sessions, totalizing vases or experimental units. The data collected were submitted to analysis of variance at 5% probability level, when the parameters were significant, they were compared by Turkey’s test (p <0,05). We conclude that, according to the aim of this paper, it propitiated a higher reduction of nematode population. The result reveals that Mexican tea extract use is a good alternative to control nematodes, thus an important discovery to prevent nematodes on soybean crops. Keywords: Alternative control. Abstract:
Background Distal humerus fractures not amenable to open reduction internal fixation (ORIF) present a unique dilemma, especially for patients that weight bear through assistive devices. The one accepted operative treatment for irreparable distal humerus fractures is total elbow arthroplasty (TEA). However, TEA commonly requires lifetime weight lifting restrictions and has limited long term results. Elbow hemiarthroplasty (EHA) represents an alternative treatment modality. This study reviews patients treated with EHA permitted to weight bear postoperatively. Methods Twelve patients underwent EHA for comminuted distal humerus fractures deemed non-reconstructable by ORIF. Patient survey data was collected retrospectively. All patients were allowed to weight bear as tolerated through the operative extremity. Outcome measures included Patient rated elbow evaluation (PREE), Mayo elbow performance score (MEPS), and whether revision surgery was required. Results The average MEPS score was 76.1 indicating fair outcomes and the average PREE score was 41. One patient required revision. Average follow up was 44.1 months. Three patients required an assistive device prior to injury. Discussion EHA serves as a viable option for non-reconstructable distal humerus fractures. EHA does not require a weight lifting restriction, which is a benefit over TEA. Overall, patients reported preserved functional capabilities but did report moderate pain. EHA demonstrated durability, although one patient required revision. Conclusion With growing interest in use of EHA, further studies are required to evaluate EHA as a superior treatment for patients with nonreconstructable traumatic distal humerus fractures; however, this study does support use in elderly patients with intermediate follow up.

Abstract:
ABSTRACTMuch ink has been spilled to describe the emergence and likely influence of the Tea Party on the American political landscape. Pundits and journalists declared that the emergence of the Tea Party movement pushed the Republican Party to a more extreme ideological position, which is generally anti-Washington. To test this hypothesis, we analyzed the ideological positions taken by candidates in the 2008 and 2012 pre-Iowa caucus Republican presidential-primary debates. To establish the positions, we used the debate transcripts and a text-analytic technique that placed the candidates on a single dimension. Findings show that, overall, the 2012 candidates moved closer to an anti-Washington ideology—associated with the Tea Party movement—and away from the more traditional social conservative Republican ideology, which was more salient in the 2008 debates. Both Mitt Romney and Ron Paul, the two candidates who ran in both elections, shifted significantly in the ideological direction associated with the Tea Party.

Plagiaat on ülikoolides endiselt suur probleem. Summary

Abstract:
Kombucha is a well-known health probiotic drink. Kombucha was first used in East Asia (Manchuria) in the Tsin Dynasty around 220 BC which was used for detoxification. This probiotic drink is a fresh drink from a slightly sweet, slightly acidic tea that is consumed worldwide. Kombucha tea is obtained from tea leaf infusion by fermentation with SCOBY (symbiotic culture of yeast and bacteria). The taste of the fermented tea is like apple cider vinegar. With the development of The Kombucha era, it has been studied by many researchers and provides excellent health benefits including as a source of antioxidants to prevent free radicals, antibacterial, anticancer, for diabetes, cardiovascular (heart disease), digestive problems and low body immunity because age factor. In the Mandailing sub-district, Tebing Tinggi city, there is a lack of public awareness of health. With the training in making kombucha probiotic drink, it is hoped that residents in that area can apply this health drink to improve a healthy lifestyle.

Abstract:
These words were penned by a professor of the Royal Medico-Botanical Society in the late 1830s to commemorate the “recent discovery in British India of the Tea Plant” (vii). Yet although written near the beginning of the Victorian era, their sentiment – that tea was both an element of national self-definition and a stimulator of the individual prosperity and wellbeing on which that polity was based – nonetheless epitomizes the broader sweep of the nineteenth century's engagement with that article of consumption. How tea came to occupy this role, and why, is the subject of this essay, which focuses on the book-length tea history – a slightly peculiar genre that blurs the boundaries between fiction and non-fiction, advertisement and travelogue, personal account and scientific treatise. These histories appeared throughout the nineteenth century and often were explicitly funded by various segments of the tea industry (thus resembling the nineteenth-century equivalent of an infomercial). Because of their direct relationship to commercial and trading concerns, their role in recording and shaping the taste for the beverage, and their dissemination across a fairly broad public, tea histories offer an important, intertextual index of the Victorians' relationship to the beverage, as well as the way in which the relationship between home and Empire was constituted and changed over the course of the century.

Abstract:
The business activity of merchants of the middle of the 19th century, who chose the tea trade as the main area of their investments, is investigated. The analysis of the Russian tea trade in the middle of the 19th century in the context of its organizational specifics is very limitedly presented in Russian historiography, which confirms the novelty of this scientific study. The key moments of the organization of trade operations with the Chinese in Kyakhta are considered. The range of problems typical for the entrepreneurial practice of tea merchants of this era is presented and analyzed. Emphasis is placed on the trade in smuggled tea and the production of its surrogate versions as the main obstacles to the productive work of the tea market in the interests of the merchants and the state. It is noted that the trade in illegal goods was carried out by colleagues who did not know how or did not want to make a profit in an honest way, and the marginal phenomenon itself was so massive that the merchants could not liquidate the illegal market on their own. As a result, in order to resolve many issues, merchants had to interact with various structures of the country’s authorities. It is shown that the remote format of interaction between large entrepreneurs and their sales agents in Kyakhta had certain inconveniences and brought profits to tea business owners much less than the possible maximum.

Abstract:
To overcome the low recognition accuracy, slow speed, and difficulty in locating the picking points of tea buds, this paper is concerned with the development of a deep learning method, based on the You Only Look Once Version 4 (YOLOv4) object detection algorithm, for the detection of tea buds and their picking points with tea-picking machines. The segmentation method, based on color and depth data from a stereo vision camera, is proposed to detect the shapes of tea buds in 2D and 3D spaces more accurately than using 2D images. The YOLOv4 deep learning model for object detection was modified to obtain a lightweight model with a shorter inference time, called YOLOv4-lighted. Then, Squeeze-and-Excitation Networks (SENet), Efficient Channel Attention (ECA), Convolutional Block Attention Module (CBAM), and improved CBAM (ICBAM) were added to the output layer of the feature extraction network, for improving the detection accuracy of tea features. Finally, the Path Aggregation Network (PANet) in the neck network was simplified to the Feature Pyramid Network (FPN). The light-weighted YOLOv4 with ICBAM, called YOLOv4-lighted + ICBAM, was determined as the optimal recognition model for the detection of tea buds in terms of accuracy (94.19%), recall (93.50%), F1 score (0.94), and average precision (97.29%). Compared with the baseline YOLOv4 model, the size of the YOLOv4-lighted + ICBAM model decreased by 75.18%, and the frame rate increased by 7.21%. In addition, the method for predicting the picking point of each detected tea bud was developed by segmentation of the tea buds in each detected bounding box, with filtering of each segment based on its depth from the camera. The test results showed that the average positioning success rate and the average positioning time were 87.10% and 0.12 s, respectively. In conclusion, the recognition and positioning method proposed in this paper provides a theoretical basis and method for the automatic picking of tea buds.

Abstract:
: Diabetes is characterized by a high mortality rate which is often associated with heart failure. Green tea and eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) are known to lessen some of the harmful impacts of diabetes and to exert cardio-protection. The aim of the study was to determine the effects of EPA, green tea extract (GTE), and a combination of both on the cardiac consequences of diabetes mellitus, induced in Wistar rats by injection of a low dose of streptozotocin (33 mg/kg) combined with a high fat diet. Cardiac mechanical function, coronary reactivity, and parameters of oxidative stress, inflammation, and energy metabolism were evaluated. In the context of diabetes, GTE alone limited several diabetes-related symptoms such as inflammation. It also slightly improved coronary reactivity and considerably enhanced lipid metabolism. EPA alone caused the rapid death of the animals, but this effect was negated by the addition of GTE in the diet. EPA and GTE combined enhanced coronary reactivity considerably more than GTE alone. In a context of significant oxidative stress such as during diabetes mellitus, EPA enrichment constitutes a risk factor for animal survival. It is essential to associate it with the antioxidants contained in GTE in order to decrease mortality rate and preserve cardiac function.

Abstract:
Antarctic krill (Euphausia superba) oil contains high levels of marine omega-3 long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids (n-3 LC-PUFA), including eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). In industrial production, krill oil is usually extracted from krill meals by using ethanol as a solvent. Water in the krill meal can be easily extracted by using ethanol as an extraction solvent. During the extraction process, the EPA and DHA are more easily oxidized and degraded when water exists in the ethanol extract of krill oil. Based on the analysis of peroxide value (POV), thiobarbituric acid-reactive substances (TBARS), fatty acid composition, and lipid class composition, the present study indicated that the composite antioxidants (TP-TPP) consist of tea polyphenol (TP) and tea polyphenol palmitate (TPP) had an excellent antioxidant effect. By contrast, adding TP-TPP into ethanol solvent during the extraction process is more effective than adding TP-TPP into krill oil after the extraction process.

Abstract:
Abstract Illicit-drug users may attempt to falsify results by in vitro adulteration of specimens. We investigated eight additives (NaCl, Visine, handsoap, Drano, bleach, vinegar, golden-seal tea, and lemon juice) claimed by drug users to invalidate enzyme immunoassay (EIA) drug assays. We also analyzed adulterated urine specimens to determine if they could be identified, adding adulterants at several concentrations to 222 EIA-positive specimens confirmed by gas chromatography and mass spectrometry (GC/MS) to contain illicit drugs. To identify adulterated urines, we monitored pH, relative density, and urine color and turbidity at adulterant concentrations that falsified EIA results. Specimens contaminated with NaCl had relative densities greater than 1.035. Liquid Drano, bleach, and vinegar shifted urine pH outside the physiological range. Golden-seal tea caused a dark appearance, and specimens containing liquid soap were unusually cloudy. Lemon juice had no effect on the assays. Visine was the only adulterant not detected. The adulterants interfered somewhat differently with each of the drug assays. EIA assays for illicit drugs can be invalidated by specimen adulteration producing false-negative results. Therefore, if urine drug testing is to be conducted, pH, relative density, and appearance should be assessed and suspect specimens should be rejected. Not all adulterants can be detected, so observed collection is strongly recommended.
