Full textThis research broaches the implementation of quality management in Tunisian colleges, particularly in the field of engineering. The case study is a college which experimented with this approach, sponsored by the Ministry of Higher Education. Quality is the spearhead of the Tunisian administration so as to contribute to the socio-economic development of the country and to the competitiveness of Tunisian higher education. . The implementation was embedded in the TQM framework and methodology that are outlined in the first part of the dissertation, as an international norm and standard. It enables a teleological implementation of quality management, resulting in getting the accreditation by importing a western and global approach to quality. This method structures the quality of products and processes and drives the operation management. However, we assume that there is a need for an axiologic axis to supplement the teleological axis in Tunisia so as to propose an integrated approach to quality management, which requires designing a compatible theoretical and methodological framework. Our research shows that the socio-economic approach to integrated quality management is required to enable such compatibility. The intervention methodology doesn’t consist in defining quality only through the objectives, but through the conditions and possibilities of change, and through transforming the very underpinnings and infrastructure of the organizations so as to better reach the objectives

Full textIntensive use of pesticides led to a widespread contamination of water, air and soils compartments. The present study focused on two main subjects, one based the ecodynamic of pesticides in Garonne River by characterization of sources, presence and outcome of these molecules and one other based on their transfer to air, water and soil compartments of a vineyard. Easy and fast methods of extractions were optimized although they were sensitive in order to be applied for mildly contaminated samples. Most quantified pesticides in Bordeaux wastewater treatment plants (WWTP) were diuron, imidaclopride and fipronil (≈ 50-100 ng.L-1). As treatments were not efficient to remove pesticides, effluents are a significant source for the Garonne River (daily discharge around 5 g). Even if major pesticides in Garonne River were metolachlor and its metabolites (≈ 10-800 ng.L-1) which showed spring peaks, typical WWTP pesticides were also quantified. Concentrations were lower (0,5 - 20 ng.L-1) and variable but they cannot be neglected as they can be highly toxic. Fipronil was for instance detected at concentrations sometimes exceeding its PNEC (0.77 ng.L-1).Vineyard soils were characterized by spring peaks of pesticides (50-1000 ng.g-1) that can be related to applications, like boscalid or azoxystrobine. Pesticides forbidden for a long time have also been detected, like diuron but in lower concentrations levels (ng.g-1) and less variable, that highlighted persistence of such molecule. Atmospheric compartment was also characterized by spring peaks than can be related to applications and molecule volatility, with the presence of folpet and chlorpyrifos-methyl. Pesticides non used by the vineyard were also detected such as metolachlor, which highleted the transport of such molecules. Forbidden (diuron), non-used (metolachlor) and currently used (boscalid) pesticides were detected in the aquifer

Full textGiant Hogweed (Heracleum mantegazzianum) is an invasive species that causes human skin photodermatitis after contact with the sap. Control techniques of the plant often produced a soil devoid of vegetation cover, which facilitates reinvasion. The objective of my project was to evaluate the effect (competition) of plant seeding on the establishment of Giant Hogweed. First, I conducted a mesocosm experiment using five herbaceous plant mixtures in order to test the effect of composition and associated cover on germination, growth and survival of Giant Hogweed. Three mixtures, especially those with Solidago canadensis, reduced germination rate. Every mixture reduced growth and survival of Giant Hogweed seedlings. In order to identify the mechanism responsible for this phenomenon, I tested the effect of allelopathic substances, extracted from leaves and roots of S. canadensis, on germination of Giant Hogweed seeds. Although an allelopathic effect on a model species (radish) was detected, the substances did not impede Giant Hogweed germination. Considering germination occurs in darkness, a mechanism other than light or allelopathy would be responsible for the reduction of germination rate in certain plant mixtures. However, the reduction of light through plant cover would likely be the cause for the decrease of growth and survival of Giant Hogweed seedlings. A seed mixture mostly composed of grasses and rapidly producing a dense plant cover has a good potential for restoration following weeding.

Full textObjectives. The primary objective of this master’s thesis involves the study of similarities between three types of sexual offenders (child pornography offenders, child pornography offenders with victim and sexual offenders) according to different developmental, psychological and behavioural factors. The objective will also determine with which group the child pornography offenders with victim share the most similarities. In addition, it will address the importance of the different factors taken into account into belonging to one of the three groups of sexual offenders. Methodology. The sample consists of 50 child pornography offenders (CP), 52 child pornography offenders with victim (CPV) and 40 sexual offenders (n= 146). All of these men were the subject of a study on sexual behaviour conducted by the Centre d’intervention en délinquance sexuelle de Laval (CIDS); chi-squared analysis as well as comparative analysis were conducted in order to determine the most significant and applicable factors. Analyses of multinomial logistic regressions were thereafter applied in order to determine the significance of the different factors into belonging to one of the three groups of sexual offenders. Results. Analyses suggest that child pornography offenders and child pornography offenders with victim are significantly different from sexual offenders when it comes to the issues of relationship with their father, to drug use, consumption of legal pornography as well as to their extramarital activities. Moreover, only one factor distinguishes child pornography offenders with victims from the group of child pornography offenders; they are more likely to have a criminal record which includes more non-sexual criminal convictions. Additionally, according to results, we can argue that child pornography offenders with victim exhibit patterns more likely to relate to child pornography offenders than to the group of sexual offenders.

Full textIn 2005, in the wake of the adoption of the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA) and its attendant restrictions on incarceration, the Centre jeunesse de Montréal - Institut universitaire (CJM-IU) [Montreal youth centre - University institute] launched a community-oriented intensive differential case management program (IDCMP). The clinical internship reported here had the following objectives: allow participation in the cross-sectional implementation of the program, improve the program’s robustness, support program specialists, and develop an assessment tool that would improve this program’s referral process. The results of this internship indicated the necessity of reviewing the IDCMP’s implementation process, specifically through constructive, pedagogical assessment of the congruence of the plan’s theoretical model and day-to-day application, as well of the obstacles encountered. A qualitative methodology appeared appropriate for these purposes. Two techniques were used: field participant observation, and content analysis of written documents (committee minutes). Chen's Program Action Model and the Texas Christian University (TCU) Program Change Model provided the conceptual framework for the internship report. The former’s six components were the basis for an assessment checklist and oriented the global overview of the implementation of the IDCMP, while the latter provided a model of the main stages of change and the individual, organizational, and program-specific factors that favour or hinder innovation. The results indicate that overcoming obstacles to the application of the IDCMP would not require any significant changes to the program’s underlying theoretical basis. Modifications of the program’s implementation process are presented. In conclusion, we consider that the successful implementation of the IDCMP is dependent on certain conditions, and will always be subject to constraints.
