Abstract:
Bug prediction aims at finding source code elements in a software system that are likely to contain defects. Being aware of the most error-prone parts of the program, one can efficiently allocate the limited amount of testing and code review resources. Therefore, bug prediction can support software maintenance and evolution to a great extent. In this paper, we propose a function level JavaScript bug prediction model based on static source code metrics with the addition of a hybrid (static and dynamic) code analysis based metric of the number of incoming and outgoing function calls (HNII and HNOI). Our motivation for this is that JavaScript is a highly dynamic scripting language for which static code analysis might be very imprecise; therefore, using a purely static source code features for bug prediction might not be enough. Based on a study where we extracted 824 buggy and 1943 non-buggy functions from the publicly available BugsJS dataset for the ESLint JavaScript project, we can confirm the positive impact of hybrid code metrics on the prediction performance of the ML models. Depending on the ML algorithm, applied hyper-parameters, and target measures we consider, hybrid invocation metrics bring a 2–10% increase in model performances (i.e., precision, recall, F-measure). Interestingly, replacing static NOI and NII metrics with their hybrid counterparts HNOI and HNII in itself improves model performances; however, using them all together yields the best results.

Abstract:
Abstract This article introduces a model-based strategy for a quadruped robot with differentiated fore- and hind-leg ground reaction force patterns to generate animal-like running behavior. The proposed model comprises a rigid body and two eccentric spring-loaded inverted pendulum (eSLIP) legs with dampers. The eSLIP model extends the traditional SLIP model by adding a bar to offset the spring direction. The proposed two-leg eSLIP (TL-eSLIP) model’s fore- and hind legs were designed to have the same offset magnitude but in opposite offset directions, producing different braking and thrusting force patterns. The TL-eSLIP model’s reference leg trajectories were designed based on the fixed-point motion of the eSLIP model. Additionally, the legs were clock torque-controlled to modulate leg motion and stabilize the model to follow its natural dynamics. The model’s equations for motion were derived, and the model’s dynamic behavior was simulated and analyzed. The simulation results indicate that the model with leg offsets and in either trotting or pronking has differentiated leg force patterns, and it is more stable and has larger basins of attraction than the model without leg offsets. A quadruped robot was built for experimental validation. The experimental results demonstrate that the robot with differentiated legs ran with differentiated ground reaction force patterns and ran more stably than another robot with the same leg morphology.

Abstract:
Objective: This study sought to evaluate the clinical outcome after extended sentinel lymph node dissection (eSLND) and radical retropubic prostatectomy (RRP) in patients with clinically localized prostate cancer (PCa). Subjects and Methods: From August 2002 until February 2011, a total of 819 patients with clinically localized PCa, confirmed by biopsy, were treated with RRP plus eSLND. Biochemical recurrence-free survival (RFS), cancer-specific survival (CSS), and overall survival (OS) were assessed with Kaplan-Meier curves. Various histopathological parameters were analyzed by univariate and multivariate analysis. Results: The mean follow-up was 5.3 years. Lymph node (LN) metastases occurred in 140 patients. We removed an average of 10.9 LNs via eSLND from patients with pN1 PCa. Postoperatively, 121 pN1 patients temporarily received adjuvant androgen deprivation therapy. The mean survival periods for RFS, RFS after secondary treatment, CSS, and OS were 4.7, 7.0, 8.8, and 8.1 years, respectively. The cancer-specific death rate of the 140 pN1 patients was 13.6%. RFS, CSS, and OS were significantly correlated with pathological margin status, LN density, the total diameter of evident metastases, and membership in the subgroup ‘micrometastases only'. Conclusion: Despite the presence of LN metastases, patients with a low nodal tumor burden demonstrate a remarkable clinical outcome after undergoing eSLND and RRP, thus suggesting a potential curative therapeutic approach.

Abstract:
The process of assigning computer codes to phonetic symbols began when the 1989 Kiel Convention of the International Phonetic Association was called to revise the Association's alphabet. The Workgroup on Computer Coding formed at that time had the task of determining how to represent the IPA alphabet numerically, and of developing a set of numbers referring to IPA symbols unambiguously. This involved assembling phoneticians who work with computer representations of phonetic symbols, and communicating with specialists in computer coding to gauge the fit between the phonetician's perspective on symbol usage and the non-phonetician's understanding of how to identify and use phonetic symbols. Prior to Kiel, a collection of practical approaches to coded representations was outlined in JIPA (Esling 1988), which dealt mainly with keyboard assignments of characters.

Abstract:
The article is devoted to one of Russian “minor type sentences” illustrated in the title. Derivation of the construction is considered, including the processes of 1) retracting the main part of the complex sentence into the subordinate clause; 2) the loss of the function of the contact frame by the complex khorosho esli and its lexicalization as a particle adjacent to the predicate, and at the last stage of lexicalization – to any actant or circonstant. Changing the status of the complex khorosho esli gives rise to the semantic effect of splitting the displayed situation, the establishment of estimation- gradational relations between the variants of the situation, as well as the implicatures that make up the main meaning of the statement as a whole. Prerequisites arise for the formation of new derivative unions (khorosho esli... a to i ... and the like.). The characteristic of the intonation contour is given which obligatorily accompanies the functioning of the particle khorosho esli; the conclusion is substantiated that the grounds for separating the elements of a new particle by a comma disappear.

Abstract:
ABSTRACT This study compares several geochemical factors (major and minor rare earth elements, Ti/Al ratios, and chemical index of alteration, CIA, values) in the Early Triassic Cañizar Formation (Fm) (Buntsandtein facies) of E Iberia with those of adjacent Middle Permian and Middle Triassic units (Alcotas and Eslida fms, respectively). According to significant differences detected, it seems that most geochemical perturbation occurred during the Early Triassic. Variations in Ti/Al ratios suggest changes in source areas between the studied units and even within the Cañizar Fm. These provenance changes correlate with successive tectonic pulses during the opening and development of the Iberian Basin, as they can be linked to major sedimentary surfaces and unconformities, as well as major sedimentological variations. Ti enrichment in the lower and middle part of the Cañizar Fm, together with high Sr and P concentrations, may be indicative of environmental alterations related to acid meteoric waters. Moreover, this acid alteration took place under arid conditions as reflected by CIA values, indicating that during the deposition of the Cañizar Fm, variable but predominantly physical weathering prevailed in contrast to the chemical weathering that took place when the Alcotas and Eslida formations were deposited. Our data along with the known fossil record of the study area indicate that during the Middle–Late Permian and Early Triassic, conditions in this tectonically active area changed from humid to arid-acid, hampering biotic recovery. Then, during late Early–Middle Triassic times, the return of more humid and less acid environments promoted biotic development. Geochemical markers emerged as useful tools complementary to sedimentological, paleontological, and tectonic data for unveiling paleoenvironmental events, especially in a setting of significant regional change.

Abstract:
Abstract MEDLINE is a rapidly growing database; to utilize this resource, practitioners and biomedical researchers have dealt with tedious and time-consuming tasks such as discovering, searching, reading and evaluating of biomedical documents. However, making a label for a group of biomedical documents is expensive and needs a complicated operation. Otherwise, compound words, polysemous and synonymous problems can influence the search in MEDLINE. Therefore, designing an efficient way of sharing knowledge and information organization is essential so that information retrieval systems can provide ideal outcomes. For this purpose, different strategies are used in the retrieval of biomedical documents (RBD). However, still a number of unrelated results for the users’ query are obtained in the RBD process. Studies have shown that well-defined clusters in the retrieval system exhibit a more efficient performance in contrast to the document-based retrieval. Accordingly, the present study proposes the Expanding Statistical Language Modeling and Thesaurus (ESLMT) for clustering and retrieving biomedical documents. The results showed that Clustering with ESLM Similarity and Thesaurus (CESLMST) in all those criteria in this study have a higher value than the other compared methods. The results indicated that the mean average precision (MAP) has improved in the Clusters’ Retrieval Derived from ESLM Similarity-Query (CRDESLMS-QET) method in comparison to the previous methods with the Text REtrieval Conference (TREC) data set.

Abstract:
ABSTRACTThe spontaneous speech of both English-speaking (E) and Italian-speaking (I) children with specific language impairment (SLI) was examined to determine (a) whether phonological factors influence the grammatical morpheme use of ISLI children, as has been found for ESLI children, and (b) whether ESLI and ISLI children show similar syntactic abilities at the same level of mean utterance length as measured in words. The results indicated that word-final consonants adversely influenced the ISLI children's tendency to use articles – the only Italian grammatical morphemes in which word-final consonants are required. There was no evidence of syntactic differences between the ESLI and ISLI children. However, both groups of children seemed to have a problem using morphemes that constituted unstressed elements in a sentence even though the grammatical and semantic function of these elements varied across the two languages. The findings suggest that a speech production or perception component may be playing a greater role than previously believed in contributing to SLI children's well-documented expressive grammatical difficulties, though the specific effects of this factor will vary as a function of the surface characteristics of the language being acquired.

Abstract:
Superpixels, as a state-of-the-art segmentation paradigm, have recently been widely used in computer vision and pattern recognition. Despite the effectiveness of these algorithms, there are still many limitations and challenges dealing with Very High-Resolution (VHR) satellite images especially in complex urban scenes. In this paper, we develop a superpixel algorithm as a modified edge-based version of Simple Linear Iterative Clustering (SLIC), which is here called ESLIC, compatible with VHR satellite images. Then, based on the modified properties of generated superpixels, a heuristic multi-scale approach for building extraction is proposed, based on the stereo satellite imagery along with the corresponding Digital Surface Model (DSM). First, to generate the modified superpixels, an edge-preserving term is applied to retain the main building boundaries and edges. The resulting superpixels are then used to initially refine the stereo-extracted DSM. After shadow and vegetation removal, a rough building mask is obtained from the normalized DSM, which highlights the appropriate regions in the image, to be used as the input of a multi-scale superpixel segmentation of the proper areas to determine the superpixels inside the building. Finally, these building superpixels with different scales are integrated and the output is a unified building mask. We have tested our methods on building samples from a WorldView-2 dataset. The results are promising, and the experiments show that superpixels generated with the proposed ESLIC algorithm are more adherent to the building boundaries, and the resulting building mask retains urban object shape better than those generated with the original SLIC algorithm.

Abstract:
Abstract. A sporadic phenomenon of internal tide resonance (ITR) in the western equatorial Pacific thermocline is shown to precede 11 of 12 major upturns in the Niño 3.4 index between 1992 and 2008. Observed ITR has up to 9 °C semidiurnal temperature excursions indicating thermocline heave, but is invisible in time resolution longer than one day. It is independent of westerly wind bursts (WWB). A hypothesis is advanced that (1) ITR dissipates vorticity, leading to Pacific countercurrent consolidation (PCC) by reducing the vortex stretching term in Sverdrup balance. The consequence of lost vorticity survives ephemeral ITR events; (2) The specific surface area of countercurrents is reduced by PCC, which reduces frictional opposition to zonal gradient pressure, which triggers eastward advection at El Niño onset; (3) PCC also accelerates transfer of potential energy to the "pycnostad" below the Equatorial Undercurrent. This shoals the equatorial thermocline, leading to a distinct mode of equatorially symmetric La Niña (ESLN) characterized by a winter monsoon cell above a "cold eye" that is separated from the South American continent, as in 1998; (4) Precessional southward intertropical convergence zone migration (ITCZ) is an alternate PCC trigger, but its effect is modulated by obliquity; and (5) ESLN causes global cooling in all timescales by (a) reduced Hadley cell water vapor production when its rising branch is above the cold eye, (b) equatorward shift in southern circumpolar westerlies due to Hadley cell constriction, (c) possible CO2 sequestration by increased EUC iron fertilized export production on the equator, and (d) possible adjacent cloud seeding by biogenic dimethyl sulphide. Surprising coincidences of WWB with perigean eclipses suggest a parallel atmospheric tide influence. Proposed PCC-ESLN forcing operates in multiple timescales, beginning where the annual cycle of strong equinoctial tides coincides with the minimum perigee cycle. This forcing corresponds with El Niño Southern Oscillation (ENSO) events in 1997, 2002, and 2006. Next, extreme central eclipses that perturb perigee-sysygy intervals also correspond with extreme ENSO events, notably in 1877, 1888, and 1982, and a 586 year cycle in the frequency of these eclipses corresponds with known stadial events in the past 4 thousand years. Contrast in the 586 year cycle increases with Earth eccentricity because it is the result of shorter synodic months at aphelion. Longer timescale forcing is by orbital control of the east-central Pacific ITCZ position, yielding a 10 thousand year fast ice sheet melt interval between March and September perihelion. But default ESLN is only interrupted when perihelion in March coincides with rising obliquity. A change in the phase relation between obliquity and precession from 1:2 to 3:5 or 2:5 may therefore explain skipped obliquity cycles after the mid-Pleistocene transition. A secular improvement in eclipse commensurability that parallels Cenozoic cooling is noted.

Abstract:
For the last decade, college campuses across the United States have witnessed an influx of U.S.-educated nonnative speakers of English. Many of these students come to postsecondary institutions with almost nativelike communicative competence yet marginal literacy skills. This mismatch in proficiency has proved to be a daunting challenge to ESL and composition faculty. Furthermore, few researchers have examined the linguistic needs of this population, creating a gap in our knowledge of how best to intervene with these students. Generation 1.5 Meets College Composition: Issues in the Teaching of Writing to U.S.-Educated Learners of ESLis one of the first attempts to fill that void. This noteworthy volume brings together the current research on U.S.-educated learners of ESL, or Generation 1.5, a reference to U.S.-educated immigrant students who are caught somewhere between the cultural and linguistic experiences of the first and second generations.

Abstract:
In the coming decades, humanoid robots will play a rising role in society. The present article discusses their walking control and obstacle avoidance on uneven terrain using enhanced spring-loaded inverted pendulum model (ESLIP). The SLIP model is enhanced by tuning it with an adaptive particle swarm optimization (APSO) approach. It helps the humanoid robot to reach closer to the obstacles in order to optimize the turning angle to optimize the path length. The desired trajectory, along with the sensory data, is provided to the SLIP model, which creates compatible COM (center of mass) dynamics for stable walking. This output is fed to APSO as input, which adjusts the placement of the foot during interaction with uneven surfaces and obstacles. It provides an optimum turning angle for shunning the obstacles and ensures the shortest path length. Simulation has been carried out in a 3D simulator based on the proposed controller and SLIP controller in uneven terrain.

Abstract:
Digital pathology (DP) is being deployed in many pathology laboratories, but most reported experiences refer to public health facilities. In this paper, we report our experience in DP transition at a high-volume private laboratory, addressing the main challenges in DP implementation in a private practice setting and how to overcome these issues. We started our implementation in 2020 and we are currently scanning 100% of our histology cases. Pre-existing sample tracking infrastructure facilitated this process. We are currently using two high-capacity scanners (Aperio GT450DX) to digitize all histology slides at 40×. Aperio eSlide Manager WebViewer viewing software is bidirectionally linked with the laboratory information system. Scanning error rate, during the test phase, was 2.1% (errors detected by the scanners) and 3.5% (manual quality control). Pre-scanning phase optimizations and vendor feedback and collaboration were crucial to improve WSI quality and are ongoing processes. Regarding pathologists’ validation, we followed the Royal College of Pathologists recommendations for DP implementation (adapted to our practice). Although private sector implementation of DP is not without its challenges, it will ultimately benefit from DP safety and quality-associated features. Furthermore, DP deployment lays the foundation for artificial intelligence tools integration, which will ultimately contribute to improving patient care.

Abstract:
The Murray–Darling Basin Plan is a $AU 13 billion program to return water from irrigation use to the environment. Central to the success of the Plan, commenced in 2012, is the implementation of an Environmentally Sustainable Level of Take (ESLT) and a Sustainable Diversion Limit (SDL) on the volume of water that can be taken for consumptive use. Under the enabling legislation, the Water Act (2007), the ESLT and SDL must be set by the “best available science.” In 2009, the volume of water to maintain wetlands and rivers of the Basin was estimated at 3000–7600 GL per year. Since then, there has been a steady step-down in this volume to 2075 GL year due to repeated policy adjustments, including “supply measures projects,” building of infrastructure to obtain the same environmental outcomes with less water. Since implementation of the Plan, return of water to the environment is falling far short of targets. The gap between the volume required to maintain wetlands and rivers and what is available is increasing with climate change and other risks, but the Plan makes no direct allowance for climate change. We present policy options that address the need to adapt to less water and re-frame the decision context from contestation between water for irrigation versus the environment. Options include best use of water for adaptation and structural adjustment packages for irrigation communities integrated with environmental triage of those wetlands likely to transition to dryland ecosystems under climate change.

Abstract:
Objective: In a peer comparison educational program, transferring glass slides between laboratories and collecting responses are time- and cost-consuming. Integrating a web-based whole-slide imaging (WSI) system and online questionnaires may serve as a promising solution. Study Design: Five gynecologic Papanicolaou-stained smears and 5 nongynecologic slides were selected. The 10 whole-slide images were acquired by a Leica SCN-400 system and released via an Aperio eSlide Manager. Online questionnaires generated by Google Forms with access to the 10 whole-slide images were released to all the practitioners in Taiwan by e-mail. After closing the program, an online posttest feedback survey was conducted. Results: A total of 302 participants joined the gynecologic test, and 291 joined the nongynecologic test. The correct interpretation rates were 81.8-93.7% in the former and 28.5-93.1% in the latter. In the posttest feedback survey, there were 63.2% of the participants reporting first-time WSI experience, and 97.9% of them said they would like to participate in a similar program again. Conclusion: Integrating a web-based WSI system and online questionnaires is an easy method to access nationwide practitioners. Participants can make interpretations using WSI even without prior experience. The model is valuable for those who want to initiate a large-scale cytopathology peer comparison educational program.

Abstract:
A mathematical model is proposed to analyze the stability of composite shafts, considering the internal damping, transverse shear deformation and Poisson’s coupling effect at the same time. The strain–displacement relations are described using the Timoshenko beam theory, and the strain energy and kinetic energy are expressed using the weak form quadrature element method (QEM), for which each nodal point has 4 degrees of freedom. Then, the motion equation of the system is established using the Lagrange equation. The instability thresholds of the composite shaft are determined using the proposed model. The results were compared with those calculated by the equivalent modulus beam theory (EMBT), equivalent single layer theory (ESLT) and simplified homogenized beam theory (SHBT). Good agreement has been achieved. Therefore, the proposed model can be effectively used for the dynamic analysis of composite shafts.

Abstract:
In the past few years, suicide cases are increasing in Indonesia. There is a probability that self-injury may be done before someone commits a suicide. An ideation is formed before someone does self-injury, which is used as a way to solve problems. There are few reasons as to why someone thinks about doing self-injury, internally or externally, and one of those reasons is loneliness. The main purpose of this study is to define the relationship between loneliness and deliberate self-injury ideation –the thoughts teenagers have regarding self-injury. Using accidental non-random sampling technique, 316 participants from both gender are taken from a senior high school in Balikpapan, East Kalimantan. Instruments used in this study are ESLI (Emotional-Social Loneliness Inventory) and NSSI Ideation Questionnaire. Result shows a very significant correlation between both variables (sig = 0.000) with correlation r = 0.274.

Abstract:
In order to support teachers preparing their teaching resources, a teaching ecosystem for developing an online service system to acquire teaching materials, the Ministry of Education (MOE) in Taiwan, implemented an Integrated Course Service System (ICSS) to assist teachers in searching for instructional resources from distributed Educational Six Learning Networks (ESLN) of MOE. The study designed the ICSS and developed an instrument to investigate the satisfaction for the teachers of primary schools, junior high schools and senior high schools. By analyzing 253 teachers, the results show that demographics, such as age, school level, teaching experience and position, have significant effects on the ICSS satisfaction. Further, the teachers were found to be satisfied with the system content, system accuracy, report format, ease of use, system timeliness and community building offered by the ICSS that helps us to understand the teachers’ online behavior in more detail for the popularization of the course service system.
