Abstract:

Abstract:

Abstract:
A new genus and a new species of erotine net-winged beetles, Damzenium rivnense gen., sp. nov., are described from late Eocene Rovno amber of Ukraine. The new taxon is placed in the tribe Erotini (Lycidae: Erotinae) based on the general appearance, structure of pronotal carinae and elytral costae. Its elytral primary costa 3 is very stout and forms the humeral edge. Primary costa 4 is weak and we have not been able to clearly identify regular four rows of cells in the wide external interstice. Similar modification of elytral longitudinal costae is known from the related tribe Dictyopterini. This discovery increases the number of Baltic and Rovno amber taxa of Lycidae to six genera and seven species. Remarkably, five genera and six species of these belong in the subfamily Erotinae, which has never been reported from other amber deposits. This quite species-poor group of net-winged beetles is still represented almost exclusively in the Holarctic fauna.

Abstract:
Erosive Karst Tiankeng has been a new type of Tiankeng Since the Collapsed Karst Tiankeng was found and primarily research by Zhu Xuewen, a famous geologist. But, how the Erosive Karst Tiankeng evolved and developed? How can we find the proofs on formation and evolutional processes of Erosive Karst Tiankeng? Few scholar focused on this new field. According to the first-hand datum by geological Expedition and study in Xingwen World Geopark, the results and datum show that apart from Dayanwan and Xiaoyanwan collapsed karst Tiankeng, there are other karst landforms in Bowang Mount scenic spot of Xingwen World Geopark such us Feiwu Cave, Dao Cave, Cangshuiyan Gorge, Nanxing TanKeng and so on. These typical karst landforms could be regarded as different vestiges of erosive karst Tiankeng of Xingwen World Geopark, which stand for the evolutional processes of erosive karst Tiankeng separately. Moreover, the evolutional processes of erosive karst Tiankeng could be divided into the following continuous processes: an erosive karst Tiankeng develops from the processes of eroding and dissolving & extending of silo Sinkhole, and subsequently degrades to a large gorge or doline. It is worth pointing out that except for erosion of flowing water, at the same time, collapse’s effect has been playing extremely important role in the forming processes of these special erosive landforms.

Abstract:
The dune systems are very important from an environmental, landscape, and coastal defense point of view within coastal areas. Currently, dune systems are significantly reduced compared to a few decades ago and, in Europe alone, dune systems have decreased by 70%. During the same period, intense beach erosion processes have often been observed, and, currently, 30% of the world’s coasts are eroding. These processes have various causes, both natural and anthropogenic, and the knowledge of the causes of the erosive processes are very important for an effective planning and management of coastal areas and to correctly plan any interventions on dunes and beaches. The paper, through a case study, analyzes the beach and dune erosive processes, their causes, and the possible interventions. The case study concerns the archaeological site of Kaulon, located on a dune in the Ionian coast of Calabria (Italy). The beach near the site was affected by erosive processes and during the winter of 2013–2014, the site was damaged by two sea storms. To identify the causes of these processes, three erosive factors were analyzed. These factors are anthropogenic pressure, wave climate and sea storms, and river transport. The effects produced by these factors were assessed in terms of shoreline changes and of damage to the beach–dune system, also evaluating the effectiveness of the defense interventions. The main causes of the erosive processes were identified through the cross analysis of erosive factors and their effects. This analysis highlighted that in the second half of the last century the erosive processes are mainly correlated to anthropogenic pressure while, recently, natural factors prevail, especially sea storms. Regarding the interventions, the effects produced by two interventions carried out during the winter of 2013–2014, one built in urgency between the first and second sea storm and the other built a few years after the second sea storm were analyzed. This analysis highlighted that the latter intervention was more effective in defending the site.

Abstract:
The focus of this project was to design a shoreline remediation system that would stabilize and protect an eroding bluff on Lake Ontario. The significance of this project is the innovative techniques utilized to stabilize a 100-foot-high, almost 45º angle bluff from the erosive forces caused by waves, wind, groundwater, and rain. Geosynthetics, blown on compost material, and the installation of an irrigation system were all tools that were utilized for bluff stabilization, while an armor stone revetment was used to protect the toe of the bluff. This project may be used as an example for other shorelines experiencing similar bluff failure and erosional issues.

Abstract:
The prevalence of white spots on teeth has increased in recent years. Regardless of their etiology, these lesions are characterized by a reduction in the enamel’s mineral phase, which is replaced by organic fluids. This causes an alteration of its chemical composition that affects its optical characteristics. Subsurface demineralization increases the pore volume of enamel, which in turn changes its optical refraction and results in the opaque color of white spot lesions. Here, we examined a non-invasive clinical technique used for eliminating these white spot lesions from enamel via two HCl-based products at different concentrations (6.6% and 15%). We used a digital method for evaluating the volumetric changes produced in dental enamel by the application of both products, one of which involved chemical erosion and the other, abrasive erosion. The mean volume of the enamel eliminated was −0.042 mm in 15% HCl, and −0.12 mm in 6.6% HCl. Thus, both 15% HCl and 6.6% HCl are capable of eroding the surface of the tooth enamel without reaching dentin. Moreover, 6.6% HCl produced a greater erosion of the dental enamel and left the surface a texture typical of an abrasive chemical-erosive product. The 15% HCl, however, produced an etching pattern typical of an erosive chemical with open enamel prisms prepared for subsequent adhesive procedures and restorers.

Digital Elevation Model (DEM) acquired by Shutter Radar Topographic Mission (SRTM) is useful to compute Surface Dynamics (SDs) including, Drainage Density (DD), Topographic Relative Relief (TRR), Iso Base-Levels (IBL) and Topographic Vertical Dissection (TVD). It provides detailed information about the lithology based on erosional boundaries as well as delineation of active tectonic scarps. It confers a well-built connection among diverse stream Strahler ordering and the localized erosive or neotectonics conditions in an actively deforming topography. These techniques are rapid, proficient, and consistent to demarcate tectonic control even along or over the similar lithologies. This investigation appraises the eroding and uplifting landforms along upstream of Mangla reservoir in lower Jhelum valley. The aim is to delineate margins for lithological demarcation and to distinguish whether these are affected by neotectonics or not. We noticed unusual localbase-level inconsistency that may be related to the well-known active tectonic expressions.

There are mainly three phenomena, i.e. cracks, infiltration and denuding for judging the aging and defects from hydraulic concrete constructions. The inland waterlocks’ concrete ageing with salt free contamination are found basically the concrete denuding, rebar erosive expansion cracks and concrete surface gravel exposure and freeze thawing peeling-off as well occasionally. The severe aging phenomena always occur in some small structures in work bridges, sub work bridges, railway bridges and concrete waterlocks etc, especially in boundary beams or flange plates of the said beams. The result manifests that the test result is completely in conformity with the actual situation in the test of internal concrete steel bar erosion by means of Eigenvalue K method and half-cell potential method. Abstract:
Gate valves, which are widely used in oil production and transportation processes, can be eroded by high fluid pressures and sand particles contained in crude oil during operation. This erosion can result in loss of valve thickness and shutdown of the operating system. Erosion is not uniform on valve elements, and it is different depending on the stages of opening the valve. In this paper, flow analysis and erosion rate analysis for the fluid flowing through the valve in different stages of opening were performed by using ANSYS Fluent 19.2. The gate valve model was designed by using AutoCAD, and the geometric dimensions and physical properties of the material required for modeling were determined according to the specifications of the gate valve installed in the oil pipeline. By the Reynolds calculation, it was disclosed that the fluid which flows in the valve has the characteristic of turbulent flow, and based on this calculation, the inlet length of the valve was determined. For the CFD analysis, the Euler method and the method of Lagrange were used. Using the k - e and DPM models according to the fluid characteristics of the turbulent flow, it was predicted the erosion rates of the surface generated by the sand which is the solid phase dispersed in the multiphase fluid. In addition, based on the von Mises method and the pressure distribution, data obtained by fluid analysis, the process of calculating the stress on the closing elements was presented. The fluid used in the analysis was petroleum with sand particles.

Abstract:

Abstract:
Abstract. The aim of this study is to assess and to validate the suitability of the stable nitrogen and carbon isotope signature as soil erosion indicators in a mountain forest site in South Korea. Our approach is based on the comparison of the isotope signature of "stable" landscape positions (reference sites), which are neither affected by erosion nor deposition, with eroding sites. For undisturbed soils we expect that the enrichment of δ15N and δ13C with soil depth, due to fractionation during decomposition, goes in parallel with a decrease in nitrogen and carbon content. Soil erosion processes potentially weaken this correlation. The 137Cs method and the Revised Universal Soil Loss Equation (RUSLE) were applied for the soil erosion quantification. Erosion rates obtained with the 137Cs method range from 0.9 t ha−1 yr−1 to 7 t ha−1 yr−1. Considering the steep slopes of up to 40° and the erosive monsoon events (R factor of 6600 MJ mm ha−1 h−1 yr –1), the rates are plausible and within the magnitude of the RUSLE-modeled soil erosion rates, varying from 0.02 t ha−1 yr−1 to 5.1 t ha−1 yr−1. The soil profiles of the reference sites showed significant (p < 0.0001) correlations between nitrogen and carbon content and its corresponding δ15N and δ13C signatures. In contrast, for the eroding sites this relationship was weaker and for the carbon not significant. These results confirm the usefulness of the stable carbon isotope signature as a qualitative indicator for soil disturbance. We could show further that the δ15N isotope signature can be used similarly for uncultivated sites. We thus propose that the stable δ15N and δ13C signature of soil profiles could serve as additional indicators confirming the accurate choice of the reference site in soil erosion studies using the 137Cs method.

Abstract:
137Cs-method and the Revised Universal Soil Loss Equation are applied for the soil erosion quantification. The erosion rates obtained with the 137Cs method range from 0.9 t ha−1 yr−1 to 7 t ha−1 yr−1. Considering the steep slopes of up to 40° and the erosive monsoon events (R-factor of 6600 MJ mm ha−1 h−1 yr−1), the rates are plausible and within the magnitude of the RUSLE- modelled soil erosion rates, varying from 0.02 t ha−1 yr−1 to 5.1 t ha−1 yr−1. The soil profiles of the reference sites showed significant (p < 0.0001) correlations between nitrogen and carbon content and its corresponding δ15N and δ13C signatures. In contrast, for the eroding sites this relationship was weaker and for the carbon not significant. These results verify the usefulness of the stable carbon isotope signature as qualitative indicator for soil disturbance. We could show further that the δ15N isotope signature can be used similarly for uncultivated sites. We thus propose that the stable δ15N and δ13C signature of soil profiles could serve as a tool confirming the accurate choice of the reference site in soil erosion studies using the 137Cs-method.

Abstract:
ObjectivesTo determine whether erosive osteoarthritis shares the same pattern of joint involvement and risk profile as increasing grades of non-erosive hand osteoarthritis.MethodsParticipants were from two population-based cohorts, aged ≥50 years, reporting hand symptoms in the previous month. Interphalangeal joints were assessed for erosive osteoarthritis (Verbruggen–Veys erosive or remodelled phase) and radiographic osteoarthritis (sliding cut-offs of K&L≥2, K&L≥3 and K&L=4). At the joint level, similarities in the frequency and pattern of erosive and non-erosive osteoarthritis were assessed by Spearman's rank correlation coefficients and generalised estimating equations. At the person level, individuals with erosive osteoarthritis were compared to those with non-erosive osteoarthritis using logistic regression, adjusted for age and gender (aOR), for the following exposures: family history, previous injury, overuse and metabolic factors (BMI, dyslipidaemia, hypertension, diabetes).ResultsIn 1076 symptomatic participants the ranked frequency of involvement for erosive joints was comparable to joints with K&L≥3 and K&L=4 (r>0.95). Patterns of joint involvement in erosive osteoarthritis were strongest for symmetry (aOR=6.5; 95% CI 3.0 to 14.1), followed by row (2.0; 0.8 to 5.0) and ray (0.3; 0.0 to 2.5), which was similar to joints with K&L≥3 and K&L=4. Individuals with erosive osteoarthritis (n=80) had an increased risk of metabolic syndrome (2.7; 1.0 to 7.1), notably dyslipidaemia (4.7; 2.1 to 10.6) compared with non-erosive osteoarthritis classed K&L≥3 (n=193).ConclusionsThe similar frequency of radiographic joint involvement and patterning in erosive osteoarthritis and more severe non-erosive osteoarthritis is consistent with prevalent erosive osteoarthritis being a severe form of hand osteoarthritis rather than a distinct entity. Metabolic exposures, dyslipidaemia in particular, may be implicated in erosive osteoarthritis.

Abstract:
Background:Hand osteoarthritis (HOA) is a common and frequent cause of pain. HOA is a heterogeneous group of disorders with two main subsets including non-erosive and erosive disease. Few studies demonstrated inflammatory ultrasound changes and more severe clinical symptoms in patients with erosive compared with non-erosive disease, however the results are inconsistent. Objectives:The aim of this study was to evaluate progression of pain, stiffness, physical impairment and ultrasound features in patients with erosive and non-erosive HOA in a three years longitudinal study. Methods:Consecutive patients with symptomatic HOA fulfilling the American College of Rheumatology (ACR) criteria were included in this study. Joint pain and swelling were assessed. Patients reported joint pain on 100 mm visual analogue scale (VAS). Pain, joint stiffness and disability were assessed by the Australian/Canadian OA hand index (AUSCAN). Erosive disease was defined by at least one erosive interphalangeal joint. Synovial hypertrophy and power Doppler signal (PDS) were scored with ultrasound. Synovitis was graded on a scale of 0–3 and osteophytes were defined as cortical protrusions seen in two planes. Patients were examined at baseline and at the first, second and third year of follow-up.Results:Altogether, 151 patients (16 male) with symptomatic nodal HOA were included in this study and followed between April 2012 and January 2020. Out of these patients, 84 (4 male) had erosive disease. The disease duration (p<0.05) was higher in patients with erosive compared with non-erosive disease.Pain reported on VAS was significantly higher (p<0.01) in patients with erosive compared with non-erosive disease at baseline. Progression of pain after the third year of follow up was significantly higher in patients with erosive disease (p<0.01). The number of painful and clinically swollen joints (p<0.05) was significantly higher in patients with erosive compared with non-erosive disease at baseline. It fluctuated over the second and third year of follow up, but it still remained statistically higher (p<0.01) at the third year of follow up in patients with erosive disease.According to the AUSCAN, patients with erosive compared with non-erosive disease had more pain (p<0.01) and stiffness (p<0.01) at baseline. Pain (p<0.05), stiffness and also function (p<0.05) worsened in patients with erosive compared with non-erosive disease at the third year of follow up.US-detected pathologies such as gray-scale synovitis (p<0.001), intensity of PDS (p<0.01) and number of osteophytes (p<0.01) were significantly higher in patients with erosive compared with non-erosive disease at baseline. There were improvements in gray-scale synovitis total score and intensity of PDS in patients with non-erosive disease while patients with erosive disease worsened after the second and third year of follow up. US-detected gray-scale synovitis (p<0.001), intensity of PDS (p<0.01) remained significantly higher in patients with erosive compared with non-erosive disease after the third year of follow up. On the other hand, the progression of US-determined osteophyte formation was observed in both groups but was significantly higher (p<0.05) in patients with erosive compared with non-erosive disease after the third year of follow up. .Conclusion:The findings of this study show that pain and number of painful and clinically swollen joints associated with US-detected synovial changes and osteophyte formation is more severe in patients with erosive HOA than in patients with non-erosive disease. In addition, osteophyte formation is more likely to progress independent of synovial inflammation.References:[1]Meersseman P, Van de Vyver C, Verbruggen G, et al. Background:Hand osteoarthritis (OA) and its more severe subset erosive hand OA are common causes of pain and morbidity. Some metabolic factors were suggested to be implicated in erosive disease. Few studies investigated differences in systemic bone loss between erosive and non-erosive hand OA.Objectives:To compare the change of bone mineral density (BMD) between patients with erosive and non-erosive hand OA in a two-year longitudinal study. Methods:Consecutive patients with symptomatic HOA fulfilling the American College of Rheumatology (ACR) criteria were included in this study. Erosive hand OA was defined by at least one erosive interphalangeal joint. All patients underwent clinical assessments of joint swelling and radiographs of both hands. DEXA examination of lumbar spine, total femur and femur neck was performed at the baseline and after two years. Results:Altogether, 141patients (15 male) with symptomatic nodal HOA were included in this study and followed between April 2012 and January 2019. Out of these patients, 80 had erosive disease after two years. The disease duration (p<0.01) was significantly higher in patients with erosive compared with non-erosive disease at baseline.Osteoporosis (T-score <-2.5 SD) was diagnosed in 12.5% (9/72) of patients with erosive hand OA and in 8.06% (5/57) of patients with non-erosive hand OA at baseline. BMD was significantly lowered in patients with erosive compared with non-erosive disease at baseline (lumbar spine: 1.05g/cm2 vs. 1.13 g/cm2, p<0.05, total femur: 0.90 g/cm2 vs. 0.97 g/cm2, p<0.01 and femur neck: 0.86 g/cm2 vs. 0.91, p<0.05). T-scores of lumbar spine (-0.96 vs. -0.41 SD, p<0.05), total femur (-0.69 vs. -0.33 SD, p<0.05) and femur neck (-1.14 vs. -0.88 SD, p<0.05) were also significantly lowered in patients with erosive compared with non-erosive disease. Two years, the BMD remained also significantly lowered in patients with erosive compared with non-erosive disease (lumbar spine: 1.05g/cm2 vs. 1.14 g/cm2, p<0.05, total femur: 0.92 g/cm2 vs. 0.97 g/cm2, p<0.05 and femur neck: 0.86 g/cm2 vs. 0.91, p<0.05), which was in agreement with the finding for T-scores of lumbar spine (-1.05 vs. -0.39 SD, p<0.05), total femur (-0.74 vs. -0.34 SD, p<0.01) and femur neck (-1.07 vs. -0.72 SD, p<0.01).Conclusion:These results suggest that patients with erosive hand OA are at higher risk for the development of general bone loss. Over two years patients with erosive disease had significant lower bone mineral density at all measured sites.References:[1]This work was supported by the project AZV no. 18-00542 and MHCR No. 023728.Acknowledgments:Project AZV no. 18-00542 and MHCR No. 023728Disclosure of Interests:Karel Pavelka Consultant of: Abbvie, MSD, BMS, Egis, Roche, UCB, Medac, Pfizer, Biogen, Speakers bureau: Abbvie, MSD, BMS, Egis, Roche, UCB, Medac, Pfizer, Biogen, Ladislav Šenolt: None declared, Olga Sleglova: None declared, Jiří Baloun: None declared, Olga Růžičková: None declared

Amaç: Çalışmamızda erkek eroin bağımlılarında çocukluk ve erişkinlik dönemi dikkat eksikliği hiperaktivite bozukluğu (DEHB) sıklığını ve klinik etkilerini araştırmayı bununla birlikte agresyon, dürtüsellik, çocukluk çağı travmaları, anksiyete duyarlılığı, anksiyete ve depresyon belirtileri gibi bağımlılık şiddetini etkileyebilecek klinik durumları değerlendirmeyi amaçladık. Yöntem: Çalışma, eroin bağımlılığı bulunan, buprenorfin/nalokson stabilizasyon tedavi dönemindeki, ardışık 100 erkek gönüllü ile tamamlanmıştır. Görüşmelerde katılımcılara sosyodemografik veri formu, Bağımlılık Şiddetini Belirleme Ölçeği (BŞBÖ), Wender-Utah Derecelendirme Ölçeği (WUDÖ), Erişkin Dikkat Eksikliği Hiperaktivite Bozukluğu Kendi Bildirim Ölçeği (ASRS), Barratt Dürtüsellik Ölçeği-11 (BIS-11), Yetişkinlerde DEHB için Tanısal Görüşme Aracı-2.0 Türkçe (DIVA 2.0-Türkçe), Çocukluk Çağı Ruhsal Travmaları Ölçeği (ÇÇTÖ), Buss-Perry Agresyon Ölçeği (AÖ), Anksiyete Duyarlılığı İndeksi-3 (ADI-3), Kısa Form-36 (KF-36), Hamilton Depresyon Derecelendirme Ölçeği (HDDÖ) ve Hamilton Anksiyete Değerlendirme Ölçeği (HADÖ) uygulandı.

Abstract:
Abstract Number of erosive rains, kinetic energy of erosive rains and factor of erosive efficiency of rains according to the USLE methodology were assessed by two methods of erosive rains determination. The first method (VAR1) defined erosive rains by intensity ≥ 0.4 mm· min-1; total ≥ 12.5 mm and the second method (VAR2) by intensity ≥ 6 mm· 15 min-1; total ≥ 12.5 mm. Database contained one minute precipitation data from four automatic stations in the Czech Republic for the period of 2000-2005. Two-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) showed a statistically highly significant difference between the annual number of erosive rains determined by the two methods. The rains simultaneously complying with two following criteria (30 min intensity lower than 15 mm·h−1 and sum of 40 mm) were not generally classified as erosive rains according to VAR2. The number of erosive rains determined by VAR2 most often reached 40 to 50% of VAR1 results. Two-way ANOVA proved highly significant differences between the kinetic energy values for the erosive rains determined by VAR1 a VAR2. According to VAR2 the rains with kinetic energy lower than 3 MJ·ha −1 are generally not considered as erosive rains. The results of kinetic energy of the erosive rains determined by VAR2 most often reached 60 to 70% of VAR1 results. Two-way ANOVA has not proved a statistical difference between annual values of R factor of erosive rains determined by the two methods. According to VAR2 the rains with R factor lower than 5 are in general not included into annual R factor value. The results of annual R factor values of erosive rains determined by VAR2 are about 25% lower than the results of VAR1. Correlation between number of erosive rains, kinetic energy of erosive rains and annual R factor value assessed by both methods showed a statistically significant relationship. The conversion formulas between results of the two methods (VAR1 and VAR2) were derived by linear regression. As conclusion we can state that when using present automatic stations in R factor analyses, we have to be aware of overestimating the erosivities compared to historical data based on ombrograms, where only low temporal resolution data were available.

Abstract:
The paper deals with experimental investigation of erosive wear of acrylic coating. The research was carried out on the erosive wear under the influence of alundum particles (grain size of 0.6 – 0.7 mm) striking the coatings at the angle of 45 degrees. It was established that intensity of the erosive wear (under the influence of free falling alundum particles) essentially depends on velocity of erosive particle at the moment of its impact against coating surface. For example, for the lowest velocity value (3.6 m/s) at the moment of impact, erosive wear intensity was equal to 0.4 mm/kg, while for the largest velocity value (5.3 m/s), the intensity doubled in magnitude. The characteristic of erosive wear intensity, depending on erosive particle velocity, was generated by using second-degree polynomial.

Abstract:
AbstractDunes adjacent to the Snow Water Lake playa in Elko County of northeastern Nevada rise up to ~10 m above the playa surface in seven distinct clusters. The dunes are composed of tan silty loam containing calcite, quartz, plagioclase, and dioctahedral clay. Abundances of trace elements, along with relative proportions of quartz and calcite, are distinct between dunes along the north and south sides of the playa, reflecting proximity to streams draining different lithologies in the neighboring mountains. Luminescence (optically stimulated luminescence and infrared-stimulated luminescence) dating of dune crest samples demonstrates that the last episode of dune accumulation occurred in the mid-eighteenth century. Moisture-sensitive tree ring records from a nearby site indicate that dune accumulation coincided with an interval of below-average precipitation immediately following a very wet decade. This sequence is consistent with models requiring wetter climatic conditions to move coarse sediment onto a playa surface, followed by dune building under drier conditions. Younger luminescence ages from a sand-dominated unit exposed in an arroyo cut through the dunes may reflect a wetter, more erosive climatic regime ca. AD 1800. The Snow Water Lake dunes are currently eroding, signaling a reduction in the amount of sediment reaching the playa.

Abstract:
Background: Infection with Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) is a recognized cause of peptic ulcer and gastritis. Persistence of infection is a definite risk factor for gastric malignancy. Healing of gastritis after eradication of H. pylori reduces the risks of peptic ulcer disease and gastric malignancy. Objectives: To find out the relationship of H. pylori with erosive and nonerosive gastritis, the effect of anti-H. pylori therapy and to compare the effects of anti-H. pylori therapy between two types of gastritis. Materials and Methods: This prospective study was done in the Gastroenterology department of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University, Dhaka from June 2008 to May 2009. One hundred eighty dyspeptic patients were enrolled for the study. Patients with gastritis diagnosed by endoscopy underwent rapid urease test (RUT). RUT positive patients were considered to have H. pylori infection and were treated with triple therapy (omeprazole, amoxycillin and metronidiazole) for 14 days. Treatment responses were assessed by clinical history and also by endoscopic biopsy and RUT. Results of endoscopic findings and RUT after treatment were compared with pretreatment status. Results: Seventy patients completed the treatment and finally could be assessed. Endoscopic findings of 70 patients revealed that 56 (80%) patients had erosive gastritis and 14 (20%) patients had nonerosive gastritis. After treatment, 47 (67.1%) lesions became normal, 16 (22.9%) remained erosive and 7 (10%) non-erosive as before. Out of 14 non-erosive diseases, 7 became normal, while out of 56 erosive diseases 40 became normal. The erosive group responded significantly better than the non-erosive group (c2=32.766, p<0.001). Fifty nine (84.3%) patients with gastritis showed negative urease test after treatment. Conclusion: Strong relation between H. pylori infection and gastritis was found. Majority were antral erosive gastritis. Erosive group responded better than non-erosive group. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.3329/jemc.v4i1.18063 J Enam Med Col 2014; 4(1): 15-20
