Abstract:
The results of complex studies of the basins of the small rivers Dzhuryn, Gnizna, Nichlava, from the point of view of the transformation of natural complexes, the introduction of optimal forms of nature use and effective systems of nature protection for the effective management of the process of ecological, social and economic development are highlighted. Land use optimization models of basin systems have been developed, and an integrated network of nature conservation areas and protected and recreational facilities has been substantiated. The conducted comparative analysis of hydro-ecological, nature protection and land use parameters made it possible to establish. The problems of nature management and nature protection in the river basin are closely related. Analysis of the structure of nature use, the ratio of ecologically safe and ecologically dangerous forms within the upper, middle and lower reaches of river valleys demonstrates the degree of balanced nature use and the effectiveness of nature protection regimes. The development of the materials of the monograph took place in the process of field research by the authors as part of data collection for writing candidate and master theses. In addition, the authors rely on their own publications in scientific periodicals and approbation of materials in reports at scientific forums on the problems of nature management and nature protection in the basins of the small rivers Dzhuryn, Nichlava, and Gnizna. Special attention is paid to small rivers, because they perform extremely important functions in the formation of the hydrological regime of surface waters, directly influencing the system of relations with the local population, being in natural resource relations with them. Small rivers are the only water arteries in settlements, performing economic, recreation and health, aesthetic, climate-regulatory functions. Their general condition is derived from the peculiarities of interaction of local communities with the natural environment, which is based on the principles of productive life of people in harmony with nature. Achieving harmonious relationships primarily depends on the level of ecological culture of citizens, their tolerant and responsible attitude towards nature. The small rivers of Western Podillia: Dzhuryn, Gnizna, Nichlava were considered in a comparative analysis with the aim of highlighting general and individual deviations of basic parameters from their normative values, substantiating measures for their optimization. The object of the research is the basins of small rivers of Western Podillia: Dzhuryn, Gnizna, Nichlava. The subject is a comparative analysis of hydrogeoecological and nature protection parameters of anthropogenic influence on their basins. The general similarity of the natural and climatic conditions of the territory, the proximity of the location does not guarantee the similarity of anthropogenic loads on river basins. The conducted comparative analysis of hydroecological and nature protection parameters of river basins demonstrated. low forest coverage of the territories, which will contribute to increased soil erosion, a specific water and wind regime, less intensive assimilation of greenhouse gases, etc. The indicators of the protection of river basins differ significantly, but all of them are significantly inferior to the optimal value within 10.5%. The indicators of plowing of river basins differ significantly. They are significantly higher than the normative ones by approximately 2 times. The negative consequences of excessive plowing are manifested in increased erosion processes, activation of surface runoff into the river washed humus horizon with mineral, organic fertilizers, toxic chemicals, which definitely manifests itself in the deterioration of water quality. The high built-up area of the Nichlava river basin has a negative impact on the growth of pollution by domestic sewage, solid household waste, the absence of water protection zones within the boundaries of settlements, etc. In general, we have reason to claim that the river landscapes are highly economically developed due to the dominance of anthropogenic lands, on almost 2/3 of the area. Accordingly, the indices of anthropogenic transformation of natural lands by economic activity are high. Key words: small river, Western Podillia, Gnizna, Dzhuryn, Nichlava.

Abstract:
<p>The article features some aspects of ecological environment in an industrial region, which characterize potential (artificial, man-induced) ecological threats that compose the noxosphere, i. e. constantly or periodically hazardous environment. In spite of the fact that noxology (science of hazards) is actively developing and there are numerous scientific approaches to ecological safety issues, the noxological approach is not adequately reflected in science media. In our attempt to fill this gap we use the following interpretation: noxological approach is a set of scientific and practical methods based on the semantic concept of noxosphere aimed at the transformation of hazardous objects and protective measures needed to ensure the environmental safety of the natural environment and human society. The paper presents some research results concerning environmental hazards, describing the impact on natural environment and man in a complex industrial region, and discusses them from the standpoint of noxological approach. As legal basis for noxological approach the authors use scientific ecological and legal interpretations, in particular, Articles 2 and especially 9 of the Constitution [1; 2, p. 5] on man and land (natural environment). Since "... nature is a value in itself, due to the fact that it is the source of life, but not only that of man", and degradation and extinction (an imbalance in biodiversity, i. e. expansion of noxosphere) of other organisms, more susceptible to changes in the natural environment, it means – for humans – that they will suffer the same fate. This process serves as an indicator of risk. This implies that "there will be no man without a favorable state of nature. And "in the context of meeting the global challenges of biodiversity, only an ecocentric concept of nature protection can be legally recognized and formalized" [2, p. 7]. In our understanding, the use noxological approach to environmental safety assessment could serve the development of ideas of socio-natural interactions and their optimization not only in line with technological solutions, but also in the process of changing the way of thinking and the formation of noxological culture through the synthesis of important traditions and perception of nature and all things natural as a full subject in conjunction with man. As an illustration of the relevance of the noxological approach concept, we consider some research data and results of practical studies performed by Kuzbass scientists aimed at preserving a balanced biodiversity in a coal mining environment. The information system they developed allows one to keep track of growing hazards and assess the risks of their development, in order to make the best decisions for the preservation of the natural environment in the context of heavy anthropogenic impact, which determines the conditions of environmental safety. We believe this approach corresponds to the principle of "balanced development".</p>

Abstract:
Introduction. Computer networks (CN) are highly developed systems with a multi-level hierarchical structure. The use of information and communication technologies in the CN to collect information allows an attacker to influence networks through cyber-attacks. This is facilitated by the massive use of outdated operating systems, ineffective protection mechanisms and the presence of multiple vulnerabilities in unsecured network protocols. Such vulnerabilities help a potential attacker to change the settings of network devices, listen and redirect traffic, block network interaction and gain unauthorized access to the internal components of the CN. The impact of cyber-attacks leads to the appearance of abnormal traffic activity in the CN. For its constant monitoring and detection in the CN, it is necessary to take into account the presence of a large number of network routes, on which sharp fluctuations in data transmission delays and large packet losses periodically occur, new properties of network traffic appear, which requires ensuring high quality of application service. All this served as an incentive to search for new methods of detecting and predicting cyber-attacks fractal analysis can also be attributed to them. The aim of the work is to develop a conceptual method for detecting anomalies caused by cyber-attacks in network traffic through the use of fractal analysis. Methods used. The main provisions of the fractal theory and the use of self-similarity assessment methods proposed by this theory, such as the extended Dickey-Fuller test, R/S analysis and the DFA method, are applied. When testing fractal methods that allow conducting studies of long-term dependencies in network traffic. The scientific novelty lies in the fact that the proposed method correctly identifies anomalies caused by the impact of cyber-attacks, and also allows you to predict and detect both known and unknown computer attacks at an early stage of their manifestation. Practical significance. The presented methodology can be used as an early detection system for cyber-attacks, based on the detection of anomalies in network traffic and the adoption of effective measures to protect the network.

Abstract:
Environmental constitutionalism is a scheme that protects the national and international environment by applying national and global constitutional law. By this, constitution-makers agree to include in their constitutions provisions aimed at environmental protection and sustainability, whereby procedural and substantive rights are written in the constitutions. The courts are in such jurisdictions called upon to enforce and protect such rights. This article addresses constitutionally embedded rights in the national constitutions of the United States of America and Nigeria. It analyzes constitutional environmental provisions in both how their judiciaries respond to such issues. This article looked at the problems associated with environmental constitutionalism in the United States and Nigeria and their connection with environmental rights. The aim is to take a holistic examination of the topic. The methodology adopted for the research is empirical. The primary and secondary sources of material selection were adopted through the use of the law libraries and the internet, books, journals and periodicals to gather information for this article. In conclusion, it was observed and recommended that no matter the similarities shared by the Untied States and Nigeria, the former has a more developed environmental jurisprudence on environmental protection by the courts. This is a truism, notwithstanding the fact that Nigeria’s constitution contains “state environmental duties”. The value of the research is that Nigeria should identify areas to be improved upon in its law and practice of environmental constitutionalism.

Abstract:
Sustainable management of natural resources is a well-accepted concept, but there are few practical guidelines for its application. This paper suggests methods for the sustainable operation of water resource use and protection. Environmental flows (EF) for rivers are used to illustrate some of the opportunities and problems inherent in managing rivers sustainably. In particular, there is a requirement for agreeing on clear and measurable environmental objectives for which a modified flow regime can be set. Knowledge from a number of different disciplines, including hydrology, ecology, hydraulics, geomorphology, water quality and socio-economics has to be integrated to provide holistic levels of understanding if sustainable management is to be achieved. Methods for EF assessment have been developed to provide an effective framework for integration leading to a clear end-point. The implementation of EF has been hampered in the past by a concentration on the ecohydrological technicalities of the process. More recently, it has been realized that achieving a consensus in the socio-economic and political context is of overriding importance for successful implementation. Case studies from South African river research over the past 20 years are used to illustrate the policies, methods, impediments and successes of sustainable river management. In particular, a recognition of complexity and change, both in ecosystems and in human thinking and behaviour, is emphasized. Timeframes of decades are required for both types of change, but there is evidence that patience is being rewarded by gradual success.

Abstract:
Sustainability is a utopia of societies, that could be achieved by a harmonious balance between socio-economic development and environmental protection, including the sustainable exploitation of natural resources. The present Special Issue addresses a multiplicity of realities that confirm a deviation from this utopia in the real world, as well as the concerns of researchers. These scholars point to measures that could help lead the damaged environment to a better status. The studies were focused on sustainable use of soils and water, as well as on land use or occupation changes that can negatively affect the quality of those resources. Some other studies attempt to assess (un)sustainability in specific regions through holistic approaches, like the land carrying capacity, the green gross domestic product or the eco-security models. Overall, the special issue provides a panoramic view of competing interests for land and the consequences for the environment derived therefrom.

Abstract:
Reducing environmental pollution is a particularly important issue, intensively studied nationally and internationally, as evidenced by the large number of scientific papers published on this topic. Literature studies show that reducing environmental pollution means not only reducing the amount of air / water / soil pollutants but also finding ways to recover waste from industrial activities that will reduce the problems of environmental pollution due to their storage. The materials resulting from the gasification processes of cellulose waste, as well as the materials obtained with the help of cellulose extracted from cellulose waste, were tested in the adsorption processes of some polluting species and the results demonstrated the efficiency of these materials for reducing the environmental pollution. The use of lignin as an adsorbent for the removal of pollutants (organic dyes or metal ions) from industrial wastewater can be considered a viable alternative, which can be a solution to both the problem of lignin recovery and the reduction of pollutant content in industrial wastewater.

Abstract:
The demand for blackberry has been increasing due to the results of studies on its nutraceutical properties. Moreover, the rusticity of its plants allows its cultivation with reduced use of pesticides, becoming feasible to grow it in areas of environmental protection (APA). As a non-traditional crop in the country and its requirement in specific climatic conditions, there is a lack of studies about management techniques and the adaptability of cultivars in different regions. Thus, it is necessary to study phenological behavior and fruit quality in potential regions. Therefore, this work aimed to verify the adaptability of blackberry cultivars in environmental protection area in Pinhais – PR (Brazil), with no use of pesticides, as well as to evaluate the quality of the fruits produced under this condition, focusing on the recommendation of the cultivars more adapted and the best destination of fruits produced. For this, the phenological and productive performance of seven blackberry cultivars: Tupy, Guarani, Cherokee, Xavante, Brazos, Choctaw, and Arapaho were observed during the cycles of 2017/2018 and 2018/2019. Brazos cultivar had the earliest harvest period, Guarani and Xavante cultivars were intermediate and Tupy and Cherokee cultivars were later in the region. The highest yields were obtained with the cultivars Tupy, Guarani, Xavante, Cherokee, and Brazos. The harvest period extended from November to January. Tupy cultivar produces larger fruits and is the most recommended for marketing as fresh fruit. Other cultivars are recommended for industrialization.

Abstract This article contributes to the debate about environmental sustainability, using the Skolt Sami conceptions of nature obligations as guides to this theme. The author’s recent research material is analysed in relation to other relevant publications and sources of environmental anthropology. Three key factors emerge: reasonableness in the use of natural resources, protection of nature, and respect for nature. Gregory Bateson’s models help to arrange these elements in relation to each other. It is argued here that respect for nature sets a scale for the conceptions of reasonableness and nature protection as the basis of environmental sustainability. The article produces questions and principles that may help put environmental sustainability into practice.

With the increased number of environmental problems in the global scope, the application of environmental management accounting (EMA) in enterprises had attracted constant attention all over the world. Even though EMA has become in the world a new and hot research direction, China’s application of EMA research was relatively small. With the strengthening of environmental protection work in China, the Chinese government and enterprises had tried to accept the use of EMA and gradually caught up with the pace of international environment requirements. Previous studies showed the level of adoption and implementation of EMA was still weak, especially in developing countries. A current paper showed results of a pilot research on manufacturing companies conducted in China. Although some studies questioned the extent of the use of EMA, the findings of the research suggested that the use of EMA had potential for further development in China. However, this study is a pilot study, thus the sample size was considered insufficient but a future study had been suggested to produce more accurate results and findings.

Environmental and/or work risk factors, lack of basic knowledge related to voice, its incorrect use, and a defective vocal model can lead teachers to develop occupational dysphonia. This study aimed to analyze studies focusing on occupational vocal disorders through a literature review. Articles published over a period of 11 years in periodicals indexed in the ScieLO library were searched according to predetermined inclusion and exclusion criteria. Twenty articles related to teachers' vocal occupational disorders were found. We argue that intense vocal use should not harm professionals; the voice has to be pleasant to the speaker and correctly produced. The conclusion is that there is a scarcity of articles available at the studied library relating to teachers' voice disorders. Further studies need to be developed and disseminated so as to increase knowledge in the subject.

Abstract:
Gated storm surge barriers are being studied by the United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) for coastal storm risk management for the New York City metropolitan area. Surge barrier gates are only closed when storm tides exceeding a specific “trigger” water level might occur in a storm. Gate closure frequency and duration both strongly influence the physical and environmental effects on enclosed estuaries. In this paper, we use historical observations to represent future storm tide hazard, and we superimpose local relative sea-level rise (SLR) to study the potential future changes to closure frequency and duration. We account for the effects of forecast uncertainty on closures, using a relationship between past storm surge and forecast uncertainty from an operational ensemble forecast system. A concern during a storm surge is that closed gates will trap river streamflow and could cause a new problem with trapped river water flooding. Similarly, we evaluate this possibility using historical data to represent river flood hazard, complemented by hydrodynamic model simulations to capture how waters rise when a hypothetical barrier is closed. The results show that SLR causes an exponential increase of the gate closure frequency, a lengthening of the closure duration, and a rising probability of trapped river water flooding. The USACE has proposed to prevent these SLR-driven increases by periodically raising the trigger water level (e.g., to match a prescribed storm return period). However, this alternative management approach for dealing with SLR requires waterfront seawalls to be raised at a high, and ongoing, additional future expense. For seawalls, costs and benefits will likely need to be weighed on a neighborhood-by-neighborhood basis, and in some cases retreat or other non-structural options may be preferable.

Ensuring environmental protection requires the use of various instruments, including spatial policy ones. Appropriate integration of environmental issues in spatial policy is still a major challenge. The aim of this article is to determine the direction of optimal environmental protection in strategic tools of spatial policy. The article indicates optimal expectations for spatial policy instruments, from an environmental perspective. Then, it verifies the extent to which these expectations are, or can be, included in the current system. The research part verifies studies of conditions and directions of the spatial development of voivode cities, in terms of using key elements from an environmental perspective. The analyses and research show that, especially in strategic instruments at the local level, consideration should be given to determining the importance of protected areas in shaping the environment, indicating potential solutions to environmental threats, and the social context of environmental protection. However, attempts at such activities are undertaken, largely, to a very limited extent.

Abstract:
Abstract This review article provides an overview on the results of studies conducted by the authors to improve the current personal protection concept in the clinical application of x-rays. With the aid of personal dose equivalent measurements during radiologically guided clinical interventions, laboratory tests using the Alderson-Rando phantom as well as Monte Carlo simulations various x-ray application scenarios were investigated. The organ doses and the effective doses of staff persons standing near the patient were determined. The 3D-attenuation properties of protective clothing under the scattered radiation emitted by the patient play a special role here. With regard to the minimisation of the quantity ‘effective dose’ the protection of the lower body from the gonads to the chest is of particular importance, since 80% of the effective dose is contributed by this region of the body. In contrast, protection of the back plays a subordinate role. Protective aprons optimised in terms of effective dose can be significantly lighter than conventional aprons, providing equal protection. The assessment of the attenuation properties of protective clothing should be based on the risk-related dose quantity, effective dose, rather than lead equivalent. In the future, the evaluation of radiation protective clothing could be based on the calculation of the effective dose assuming standardised irradiation conditions.

Abstract:
Land is the carrier of the production and living activities of human society and the basis of survival and development of all living organisms. With the continuous development of the social economy, the unreasonable use of land is becoming more and more serious, aggravating the deterioration of the ecological environment. Most studies in this field have mainly focused on land use changes and the corresponding impacts on the ecological environment, but relatively few studies have delinked the relationship between land use intensity and the ecological environment. Based on data on these two factors for Gansu Province from 1998 to 2017, we used the Tapio decoupling model to evaluate the decoupling relationship between land use intensity and ecological environment. From 1998 to 2017, the comprehensive land use intensity in Gansu province increased by 107.77%, and the comprehensive ecological environment index increased by 63.76%. In general, the relationship between land use intensity and ecological environment experienced five states, namely weak decoupling, strong negative decoupling, strong decoupling, expansive negative decoupling, and declining decoupling. During 1999–2013 and 2013–2016, land use intensity and ecological environment had decoupled, and the main reasons were as follows: (1) The Chinese government introduced a series of farmland protection policies and measures, controlled the area of newly added construction land, and reduced urban land expansion; (2) ecological restoration projects for mountains, forests, fields, lakes, and grassland strengthened the environmental protection in Gansu Province; and (3) in the process of economic development, the increased investment of technology and capital improved the land use efficiency, finally realizing the “double growth” of land use intensity and environmental quality. Based on these results, land use intensity and environmental quality are not necessarily contradictory, and a moderate improvement of land use efficiency and environmental protection can probably result in increased land use intensity and higher environmental quality.

Abstract:
In order to implement environmental protection, within the Soil Cadastre, previously proposed as a multipurpose inventory that aims to promote sustainable soil uses, the hydrogeological instability caused by human activities is the focus of this work. These activities can be aimed at sustainable agricultural soil use or the building of roads to allow the access to the fields. The soil’s hydrogeological instability causes the unsustainable use and management of a cadastral parcel. Therefore, the aim of this work is to propose a nomenclature for hydrogeological instability risks, as well as the best practices of conservative soil tillage in case studies, in order to reduce environmental impact. According to the proposed Soil Cadastre, the missing environmental sustainability of a parcel and the reason for this must be communicated to the field owner or manager. In a hilly area of inland Western Sicily, four main risk types of hydrogeological instability were identified: hydrogeological instability (caused only by natural factors); hydraulic-pedological farming instability (crop not suitable for the field for missing or insufficient soil drainage and landslides); hydraulic-infrastructural instability (built up infrastructures unsuitable for the site); hydraulic-infrastructural-pedological-management instability (field improvements changing the downflow line and crop operations not suitable for the soil and climate parameters). The farm owner or manager must be informed about the risk type affecting their fields in order to perform the best practices (i.e., conservative soil tillage), for implementing or restoring a sustainable soil use or management in each cadastral parcel.

The constant need for recycling, waste prevention and general environmental protection represent the new directive approaches imposed by the geo-political, industrial and environmental context, at the regional, European and global level. Ensuring the environmental protection and reducing the natural resources consumption represent general purposes of the sustainable development and also considerations to implement the Circular Economy Model [1]. The present study is developed with respect to the previously mentioned principles: the waterjet cutting operations by the use of abrasive GARNETs for quality, speed and accuracy gain, are in continuous expansion, generating proportionally increasing wastes, which could be valorized by innovatively integrating them in advanced cementitious materials for the construction industry. The international research regarding the use of abrasive waterjet Garnet wastes as raw material for construction industry are at incipient stage and quite limited, but preliminary results are promising. Further studies are presently developed, considering the potential benefits and also the reduced toxicity degree of abrasive Garnet wastes. This paper offers a general overview concerning the recent studies performed in the topic of efficient use of abrasive Garnet wastes in different building materials. Supplementary, further research, both theoretical and experimental is considered, for developing green, advanced, high performance cement-based materials by using the abrasive waterjet Garnet wastes, mainly as fine grain addition or replacement in the composites.

AbstractThe aim of the conducted study was to characterize the attitudes and practices of Polish farmers in the area of performing chemical plant protection treatments. A particular attention was paid to identifying the relationship between the direction of changes in the volume of chemical plant protection product consumption and selected attributes of farms. The main time range of the analyses covered the period of 2013–2017. Statistical data and results of representative surveys carried out on a sample of 1101 farms in Poland were used in the research process. Due to the large number of variants of the analysed variables, a multiple correspondence analysis was used, which made it possible to determine the correlation between the examined features (direction of changes in pesticide use relative to the farm area, economic size of the farm and location of the farm). Statistical analysis showed the existence of strong relationships between the physical (1) and economic (2) size of farms and the direction of changes in pesticide consumption ((1) φ2 = 0.0907; (2) φ2 = 0.1141)). According to empirical studies, the reduction of pesticide consumption took place mainly on the smallest farms. The implementation of the integrated plant protection directive has not resulted in significant changes in the form of reduced pesticide use in large-scale field crops. This raises the need to modify the strategy and model of crop protection in large-scale field crops in Poland.

There has been a hotspot in sports industry these days that is becoming more and more wide-spread in sports organizations and among managers, namely CSR, that is corporate social responsibility. In the life of geographical regions, towns or villages, professional football clubs play a crucial role. Consequently, clubs tend to take responsibility for these communities in return for their support: whether it is the local population or the authorities, other businesses or the environment, they are ready to stand up for good causes. Nowadays sports centres with their regular events have a significant effect on the environment either regionally or globally. That is the reason why it has become vital in the management of sports facilities to respect environmental principles when designing and using sports facilities and to avoid producing pollution that could harm and deteriorate the environment. The aim of our study was on the one hand, to present the definitional and theoretical evolution of CSR, than the CSR concept in sport, special regard to environmental protection. On the other hand, to analyze what kind of CSR related issues do football clubs (Real Madrid C. F. – RM, Borussia Dortmund – BVB) and how they are addressing issues of environmental sustainability in the context of CSR. According to RM and BVB, we can say that they really try to do efforts to responsible behavior and environmental protection. Innovation is an important driving force for realizing high-quality economic development, which puts forward higher requirements for environmental protection enterprises to meet the dual goals of economic development and ecological protection. In order to better evaluate the innovation-driven development performance of environmental protection enterprises, a hybrid method is applied in this paper. Based on the sample data of 20 large-scale environmental protection enterprises investing in public–private partnership (PPP) projects from 2018 to 2020, the innovation-driven development performance is measured. The results show that the innovation-driven efficiency of environmental protection enterprises for infrastructure construction is significantly different, and the improvement of pure technical efficiency of environmental protection enterprises is obviously better than scale efficiency. Furthermore, the reasons influencing the innovation efficiency are analyzed and discussed. The results suggest that more attention should be paid to the transformation of labor and capital in environmental protection enterprises, and the use of innovation-driven resources should be optimized. Future studies can apply the hybrid method to measure the innovation-driven performance of environmental protection enterprises in other countries, so as to verify the effectiveness of the hybrid method proposed in this paper and overcome the limitations of the research conclusions.

Abstract:
The abiotic protection of low molecular weight organic compounds (LMWOC) in soils may be an important regulator of C cycling. The study of the protection of LMWOC through sorption typically employs soils shaken in solution, which may be compromised by biological activity. We used 14C-labelled glucose as a LMWOC in batch assays of four different soils with contrasting physico-chemical properties (Arenosol, Luvisol, Ferralsol and Andisol). The commonly used biocides NaN3 and HgCl2 were employed alone or in concert across a range of concentrations to assess their efficacy in inhibiting microbial degradation. For short (<1 day) sorption experiments, low NaN3 concentrations (50 µM) were sufficient to inhibit microbial activity, whereas for longer (2 week) equilibrium assays, only high HgCl2 concentrations (10 mM) were effective in all soils tested. All combinations of biocide were most effective in inhibiting microbial activity in the Arenosol and least effective in the Andisol. Thus, in some soils, particular care is required with biocide selection for complete inhibition of biological activity. The findings presented here are of relevance for the design of studies investigating sorption of labile organic compounds in soils.

Abstract:
The public sector is under growing pressure to increase its efficiency. Expectations from the political authorities, local communities, stakeholders and media towards the public-sector entities are high. Modern management methods must be introduced to meet them. Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) is an important method used in comparative studies of public sector efficiency. Voivodeship Funds for Environmental Protection and Water Management (VFEPWMs) are public entities that financially support actions aimed at environmental protection and water management. Their task is to acquire and redistribute financial resources to support projects related to environmental protection. VFEPWMs face the challenge of increasing the use of available funds and the efficiency of their use. The paper presents the use of DEA method — which is as a modern engineering management tool — to evaluate the VFEPWMs performance. In the DEA performance analysis of VFEPWM, it is assumed that each unit may be characterised by their input resources, effects, environmental variables and transformation processes that transform resources into effects. VFEPWMs have better performance if they transform resources into desirable effects (actions) more efficiently. The results of the conducted analysis allow comparing the performance of particular VFEPWMs, to identify model units and to develop benchmarking graphs. The analysis is performed not only to assess the current level of VFEPWM performance but also to acquire information allowing to remove inefficiency.

Numerous scientific researches show that the activities connected with building materials produce significant negative environmental effects. Observed from the point of architecture, the use of building materials is found to be one of the critical factors of environmental pollution and degradation. The purpose of introducing architectural interventions, including proper selection, is the reduction of the negative environmental impact of building materials. The aim of this paper is to define, from the ecological aspect, basic principles for the selection of building materials. First, principles were defined through the all - inclusive analysis of every phase in the life cycle of building materials. Summing categories: embodied energy and embodied CO2 are discussed afterwards. In the order to simplify the procedure of arriving at a decision, priorities in selection were emphasized in every separate segment of this paper. The selection of building materials with reduced negative environmental impact (ecologically correct building materials) is one of the key decisions in the process of designing ecologically correct buildings.

Abstract:
Abstract The article presents important problems occurring in the operation of large-size steel structures protected by paint coatings. In our atmospheric conditions, corrosion of steel structures cannot be avoided, even with the use of protective coatings. The problem of environmental pollution with corrosion products and exfoliated paint then appears. When designing corrosion protection, durability of protection is assumed based on environmental corrosivity categories, but in practice degradation of paint coatings can occur much faster. The problem of premature peeling of paint results, among other things, from its faulty application and use. Steel structure repairs are usually carried out comprehensively, and new protection requires the removal of damaged coatings, mainly by sanding. As a result of the mechanical action of the abrasive material, old paints and corrosion products are removed, which results in a very large amount of waste that settles on the adjacent area. Due to the age of paint removed, this waste often contains compounds such as lead, chromium or zinc, which pose a real threat to the natural environment around the renovated buildings. In the article, based on the observations carried out directly on the exemplary structures in renovation, the actual scope of the waste emission was determined. This is a contribution to further spectrometric studies to determine the exact area of contamination and to identify heavy metals in the waste arising from the renovation of steel structures with paint coatings.

The research method used is normative juridical, by reviewing related laws and regulations, and conducting literature studies. The approach is carried out with Cassation Verdict No. 52 K / Pdt.Sus-HKI / 2022. The research concludes that the legal protection of Portraits in Trademarks remains based on the Copyright Law which adheres to the principle of Automatic Protection, so that the Exclusive Rights of the Creators remain. However, the Judge in His consideration determined the plaintiff's legal standing was not based on copyright principles. Based on this case, it is necessary to review the Copyright Law related to the principle of Automatic Protection of the Heirs in order to create justice and legal certainty.

Abstract:
Land-use allocation models can effectively support sustainable land use. A large number of studies solve the problems of land-use planning by constructing models, such as mathematical models and spatial analysis models. However, these models fail to fully and comprehensively consider three uncertain factors of land-use systems: randomness, interval and fuzziness. 33Therefore, through the study of the watershed land-use system, this paper develops a land-use allocation model considering the regional land–society–economy–environment system under uncertain conditions. On the basis of this model, an interval fuzzy two-stage random land-use allocation model (IFTSP-LUAM) combining social, economic and ecological factors is proposed to provide sustainable development strategies at the basin level. In addition, the proposed IFTSP-LUAM takes into account the above three uncertainties and multistage, multiobjective, dynamic, systematic and complex characteristics of typical land-use planning systems. The results showed that the model considers more socioeconomic and ecological factors and can effectively reflect the quantitative relationship between the increase in economic benefits and the decrease in environmental costs of a land-use system. The model was applied to land-use planning of Nansihu River Basin in Shandong Province. The results provided a series of suitable land-use patterns and environmental emission scenarios under uncertain conditions, which can help the watershed environmental protection bureau and watershed land-use decision-makers to formulate appropriate land-use policies, so as to balance social and economic development and ecological protection. The simulation results can provide support for an in-depth analysis of land-use patterns and the trade-off between economic development and ecological environment protection.

Abstract:
Previous studies are lacking that explore the added values of sustainable practices perceived by consumers. To achieve a balanced development of economy and environmental protection, tourist hotels should develop a service differentiation strategy based on the sustainable practices. By examining the environmental characteristics and performing art in marketing images of a tourist hotel that are attractive to customers, this study built on the attention restoration theory and triple-bottom-line perspective, and employed the eye-tracking analysis technique to investigate the effect of image characteristics on customers’ visual attention. Sixty-three individuals participated in the experiment and observed the performing arts images. This study confirmed that, first, a natural image could attract more of customers’ visual attention than a built image. In particular, the coupling of nature and performing arts can get the most visual attention from customers. Second, older adults prefer natural images, but younger adults do not. However, there is no significant difference in the impact of gender on the customer’s visual attention. Those findings imply that tourist hotels should use the marketing image design to highlight the value-added services derived from environmental protection.

AbstractThe aim of the study is an analysis of the environmental competitiveness of Lubelskie and Kujawsko-Pomorskie voivodships. There was performed an analysis of indices of the condition and protection of the environment, and also of the pressures placed on the environment in particular regions in order to assess the environmental competitiveness of Polish voivodships using a rating method (point one). The comparison of Lubelskie and Kujawsko-Pomorskie voivodships leads to the conclusion that these regions are characterised by a relatively good environmental potential, creating chances for specialisation in a range of those forms of economic activity which are based on the use of environmental resources and values.

Abstract:
In order to ensure the integral management of water and land resources during the implementation of environmental protection engineering measures, as well as to solve ecological problems, a macroeconomic approach directed at the final results is necessary. The traditional "narrow" economics of nature use is viewed as a single cycle of water and land resources and production waste and pollution, with insufficient attention paid to the economy itself ("black box"). For purposeful use of macroeconomics, it is necessary to build a vertical of natural productivity of each natural resource (chain), which will connect the primary natural factors with the production of final products. An effective concept of the rationalization of nature use and environmental protection against debris-flow phenomena and the matching economic mechanism of nature use in sectors and complexes can be developed and realized only after the development of the concept of development of the sector complexes and the whole economy. Regional features of the formation of the economic mechanism of nature use are important. The assessment of economic efficiency indicators of environmental protection measures during the construction of hydraulic engineering structures is discussed. The value of efficiency obtained by environmental activities is considered by the criteria for evaluating the efficiency of the investment project, where this criterion is called net discounted income, net discounted value, or modern net income. Functional-value analysis of environmental impact during the construction of hydraulic engineering structures, including the construction of high dams, for the realization of the analytical stage, a functional model is built based on the orography of the social-ecological-economic system. Based on theoretical and field scientific studies, the economic efficiency of the innovative debris-flow control structure has been established, the numerical value of which is equal to 16.15 USD per 1 longitudinal meter of the structure.

Abstract:
The evaluation of biotic integrity through multimetric analysis of the attributes of fish fauna is recognized as an important tool for water management and conservation policies. In this sense, the present study sought to elucidate tendencies in the use of the most used metrics in multimetric indices (MMIs), based on the fish assemblage, in Brazil. An electronic search of the literature was carried out in indexing databases of periodicals. The criteria used for the selection of scientific articles were to be carried out in Brazilian territory and the use of MMI with fish. Of total, 51.9% of the studies were applied in streams, with no temporal pattern. The highest concentration of studies was observed in the southeast region. In all, 99 different metrics were used, highlighting attributes related to trophic, tolerance and species composition. There was a increment of specific metrics over the years and environments, with the exception of rivers. In comparison to other environments, streams had significantly different metrics. Difficulties in the MMI proposal in Brazil are linked to the selection of aspects that characterize the condition of a habitat before the diagnosis of the ecological components in the classification of the environmental quality.
