Ngo, Van Thien. "Pédagogie par projet : une étude de cas dans l’enseignement supérieur technologique." Thesis, Lyon 2, 2014. http://www.theses.fr/2014LYO20094/document.
Full textThis thesis focuses on the project-based learning activity in a high technological school. The study shows that the students are organizing their works in complete autonomy calling on collaboration and cooperation. It also shows that the two categories are connected by a cause and effect relationship. Furthermore this study explains the three coordination types that the students are calling on to achieve their project. The mediation of the teacher is only aimed to support, guide, encourage and assess the two learners all along the learning process. The design and implementation project is considered as a way of stimulating the learners to reinvest previously acquired knowledge and at the same time to build up new theoretical knowledge during the project development. This construction is carried out jointly with the creation of new technical and professional skills. All this acquired knowledge are inter-acting each other to build student’s competences. Those competences are used and assessed during the trainee period in the company

Full textThis study comes within an increasing movement of interest for pedagogic research at university level, which is a fast changing sector of pedagogy in general. Our analysis tends to show teaching procedures as the result of the teacher's pedagogic conceptions in relation to knowledge as well as to students. The educational relations hip is considered as a three-sided one, which, from a teaching point of view gives birth to three tendancies : the firstone a knowledge centered approach, the second one being student centered and the third and last one taking into account the teacher-student dialectical movement about knowledge. Then we have attempted to classify the teaching procedures where didactic and relational aspects are predominant. Ultimately the teacher-knowledge relations are confronted to the students needs and expectancies. At the term of this analysis it has been shown that most pedagogic efforts achieved at university level have been conducted along didactic lines, often neglecting the necessary teacher student relations hip so essential in the teaching process

Full textThis research takes place in the context of the knowledge society and the nowadays need for lifelong learning and professional development. It deals with the different effects and uses of ICT in university pedagogy in general and the Algerian University in particular.Indeed, the Algerian higher education is undergoing an unprecedented modernization process with two important reforms : on the one hand, the implementation of the 2004 Bologna process and on the other hand, the challenge of the traditional practices’ evolution towards the use of digital technologies. The challenge for Algeria to strengthen its higher education system using these technologies to meet the triple challenge: respond to the annual increase of student enrolment, consolidate the professional training of the teachers, and finally, facilitate access to distance learning in particular for people living remotely from academic institutions. After a literature review of the Algerian education system and the different perceptions of digital technologies in sociology and pedagogy, we tried to understand and analyse the place of such tools in the Algerian university. This exploratory research aims at describing, How the use of digital technologies achieve the pedagogic innovation in Algerian universities? In order to address this problematic, we opted for the qualitative method through an inductive approach. We focused on the interpretation of the actors involved in the process of educational innovation in Algerian universities. To this end, we have conducted through a four years period from 2015 to 2019, semi-structured interviews of the main actors in the field, project promoters and senior managers. The study shows a low use of digital technologies for learning purposes, due to the lack of involvement on the one hand, and on the other hand, to the resistance to change among some teachers. At the same time, our results reveal the effect of the pilot digital training adapted to newly recruited teachers for pedagogical innovation and the availability of higher level of technological infrastructures at the academic institutions. Our research aims at shedding light on the pedagogic innovation and the strategic choice in the organization of the digital scheme for learning in Algerian universities, despite the difficulties of adoption and use of digital technologies

Full textThe commercialisation of higher education, as a consequence of the Bologna model and the successive reforms in France, accelerated the transformation of the university model in the last twenty years. In this unprecedented context, where the university has entered a process of standardizing practices and training, the practices of dissemination of knowledge are not well studied from the point of view those who implement it : teachers in higher education. The thesis proposes to devote oneself to it, in the French context. This is to describe (for both understand and explain) what university teachers do when they "teach", from the question of how teaching is shared and distributed within a teaching team to how are the lectures prepared and delivered, while considering their inclusion in a set of structural but also axiological and praxeological mutations of the university

The presence of official discourses within the contemporary institutions of higher education, reveal in general, that the academic community know little about the actual life of their teachers and researchers as well as their work conditions. Nowadays, the Quality of Education is the bed rock of the global official discourse at the institutions of higher education. While official discourses attempt to transform the institutions of higher education into efficient organizations through a persuasive rhetoric of the quality, administrators of these institutions try to turn the academic community into a homogenous and anonymous group, in order to rule social and academic control. The official discourses establish an episodic collective memory, the official memory, throughout institutional norms and regulations making the institution able to perform memory and social regulations thought rituals and celebrations of these norms. This research analyzes the social configurations of the professors in facing the policies and proceedings of the Quality of Education through the Reflexive Hermeneutic theoretical approach and the Narrative Inquiry as a methodology. The research took place at the University of Guadalajara, in Jalisco, Mexico, 2005-2009. The results highlight the necessity to look for new theoretical and methodological approaches to study the influence of the quality of education as an object of study in construction that founds today its logic and actions only through the paradigm of productivity
Saint-Jacques, Annie, and Annie Saint-Jacques.
This exploratory qualitative study focuses on the innovative application of the community of inquiry framework to synchronous online learning. This is the first study to report on efficient teaching strategies to foster a learning community in synchronous virtual graduate seminars and to explore this concrete application of blended online learning design. It is based on a multiple-case study (eight cases) that took place in five Francophone and Anglophone North American universities. Data collection consisted of forty hours of post facto observation of archived virtual seminars, sixty-one interviews conducted with faculty (n=9), teaching assistants (n=4), students (n=45) and instructional designers (n=3), as well as mid-term (n=50) and post-term (n=32) student surveys. The study confirms the importance of establishing a community of inquiry within a virtual graduate seminar. However, the socioconstructivist framework remains nebulous for several faculty and students, hence the importance of collaborative “culture” training. The study determines that socioconstructivist approaches contribute to the effectiveness of learning in virtual graduate seminars, identifies 30 attributes of a virtual graduate seminar and reports on 26 effective teaching practices that can be used to inform guidelines for quality online learning. It highlights the crucial role of the faculty member as the facilitator of a rich and ongoing dialogue in the virtual classroom. The multiple-case study reports high satisfaction levels among both faculty and students towards the virtual graduate seminar.

Full textThis thesis is an analysis of the various forms of resistance to changes in the pedagogy at the University of Yaoundé. It brings to light the various forms of resistance which occur among teachers and students and it presents the meanings and orientations of such resistance trough an analysis of the way in which power is appropriated and executed in the educational system. The nature of the various forms of resistance exhibited and the advantages these provide to teachers ans students can best be understood by means of a structural and organizational overview of the way in which pedagogy functions socio-culturally, psycho-sociologically, economically ans institutionally. The thesis starts with a presentation of the actual state of african universities in general and those in the cameroons in particular, exposing their specific pedagogical problems. It continues with theoretical overviews of resistance and an analysis of data gathered during surveys in the field. The results lead to suggestions for a new educational outline based on what we call search for solutions pedagogy. This is a pedagogy in which rhe protagonists of educational action are associated with a process resolving theoretical or practical problems within their environment. It aims at renewing the links between teachers and students on one hand, and between the university and society on the other

Full textThe thesis object of study consists of training teacher-researchers on university education and on ICTEs in the Lebanese University- Faculty of Sciences, branch II. It is enrolled in a descriptive and analytics approach that allows us to analyze classroom practices and to view whether these practices match with the design of a new university education integrating in ICTEs in Lebanon. Our theoretical framework was based on the systems approach also known as systems analysis that Jacques Wallet has called “carré PADI”. As for the methodological procedure that we have undertaken for the study of our problematic, it was established in a mixed type perspective which has combined two approaches : 1) at quantitative part using three measuring tools (survey): the analysis of students and teacher-researchers needs and the student’s satisfaction; a qualitative part operating through interviews on one hand, with teacher-researchers, directors and head of department of the faculty of Science Branch II, the representatives of the francophone organizations (AUF/IF) and representatives of ICTEs departments in French universities and through class observations on the other hand. The mixed method adopted in the study represents the triangulation that brings to light different strengths and mitigates the weakness of qualitative and quantitative methods overlap. Subsequently, we dealt with the data collected within a theme-based approach and through statistic patterns in order to come out with several interpretations that cover the essential themes in way to link the quantitative results with the qualitative ones

This thesis analyses an unprecedented educational experience (2010-2016), relating an online doctorate and the pedagogical question of the 3rd cycle in education sciences. This thesis testifies of an ongoing innovation and is consistent with the Institutional Analysis logic. To date, no other experience of creating an online doctorate in education sciences in French-speaking countries has been recorded. This object of research is therefore totally new at the doctorate level within French-speaking countries. As such, it is a prospective thesis in the sense that there is not, yet, no research on e-learning at doctorate level in education sciences. This thesis, as an experimentation, is a pioneer. This failed experiment was considered an attempt, a passage, a rough draft from which to learn. How to develop this project and overcome the problems encountered? Which framework develop so that PhD students, teachers get involved or feel involved in building the community of reference? How could the idea of an online doctorate be extended to other fields? In relation to the new reform of universities, could not the theses in validation of prior experience (Validation des acquis de l’expérience) be linked with this kind of online thesis? This thesis will try to answer this. It brings news elements into the field of research and develops a reflection in order to overcome the problems encountered for a pedagogical advance

Full textBased on a project-based pedagogy, the French computer science school EPITECH claims a radical break with the traditional teaching model. Our thesis analyze this claim in the light of the school's practices and their reception by students and the teaching community. By studying the functioning of EPITECH, we wish to answer a double question. Firstly, what are the experiences of EPITECH students in this active and hybrid learning environment? Second, do these experiences dependent on their socio-economic characteristics? In line with the research questions and the chosen global approach, we opted for our methodology to conduct an ethnographic monograph. This is fed by an investigation based on a combined method of a qualitative (observations and interviews) and a quantitative approach (surveys and databases). The results of the study seem to indicate that on one hand this specific model of active learning can facilitate the progression and planning of the students' pathway. On the other hand, it seems that this pedagogy works relatively independently of the socio-economic characteristics of the students when the latter have an adequate environment and technical-pedagogical material. Through the study of the particular case of EPITECH our research aims to contribute to a better understanding of the so-called active learning in higher education

Thus, statistics isa many-sided discipline based on shared dimensions, but also on specificformulations.Researchers must develop specific skills to explain each step of a statisticalapproach in both situations studied: doctoral theses and expertise. Additionally, results need to be communicated clearly and precisely by a researcher in order toassure their comprehension and the appropriation of knowledge. The analysis ofdoctoral theses highlights a regularity in the use of statistical concepts and statisticallanguage, but also numerous specificities for academic disciplines. Moreover, theanalysis of expertise highlights that researchers set up didactic approaches toimprove the transfer of knowledge to decision-making politics. This thesis aims to take part in the reflection about i) the teaching ofstatistics at the university and ii) the pedagogical strategies that needs to bedeveloped by highlighting the teaching strategies proven to be useful for statisticaleducation. Our analysis clearly shows the importance of qualifying students in thedissemination and communication of results from statistical analyses. Takentogether, there is a clear need to develop new teaching strategies for statistics at theuniversity aiming at developing teaching methods facilitating explicitcommunication of statistical expertise and results addressing a wide range ofaudiences

Full textOur study aims at describing shapes and functions of the reformulation made by the teachers, as well as their influence on the students’ notes in higher education. At the University, lectures are the primary mode of communication (Bouchard and Parpette, 2007, 2012). Reformulations occupy an important place. Among the various forms of reformulations (Gülich and Kotschi, 1987), exemplification and definition are frequently a mean to get through the terminology used in the discipline. This thesis aims to address the use of exemplification and definition via an analysis of videotapes of four classes speaking to first year Linguistics students that convey the same content. The corpus that we want to analyze consists of eight sessions supervised by two experienced teachers and two novice teachers. Teachers rely on different teaching materials: technological media (PowerPoint) or traditional handouts and use of the blackboard. Based on the work of Coltier (1988) and referring to Riegel (1990) and Rebeyrolle (2000)’s typology, we will try to characterize and understand how the examples and definitions can contribute to the construction and processing of knowledge among students through their notes’ taking. The study of the linguistic phenomenon of reformulation in higher education, through the proposal of new categories of analysis, allow us to propose new categories of analysis, refine the theoretical analysis of the definition and examples, and to identify specifics in the discourse of University teachers. It may also provide first year students and University teachers training with guidance

Full textThe objective of this critical analysis is to evaluate Creole textbooks in the French Lesser Antilles and in Haiti. We've supplemented this analysis with sociolinguistic questionnaires among Creole-language educators in Guadeloupe, Martinique, and Haiti. We demonstrate that Creole textbooks in the French Lesser Antilles have certain methodological and linguistic shortcomings. These textbooks rarely make use of the etymological work done in French on French-based Creoles and do not always take into account other lexical research in the same field. The textbooks only partially represent the sociolinguistic reality of the students and rely on traditional teaching methods based on French grammar, which is also the case for most Haitian textbooks. Textbooks from the Lesser French Antilles focus more on folkloric elements and less on modern Creole texts. These textbooks most often aim to correct students' gallicisms rather than to teach them new Creole skills. From a sociolinguistic point of view, Haitian textbooks are less openly complexed about the relationship of Haitian Creole with French, but lack elements in the psycholinguistic domain. The typographical styles of the older textbooks do not take into account the pedagogical needs of young children, while the more recent, better structured textbooks sometimes seem to use a random text translated from French, whereas an original text in Haitian Creole would have been better adapted. Literacy concepts are much more present in Haitian textbooks than in those of the French Lesser Antilles. As far as the CAPES is concerned, the latter currently is characterized by an urgent need for reform

Full textThis doctoral thesis consists of the design of a didactic model of flipped classroom that allows the development of the active participation of students in Spanish as a foreign language classes in higher education. The proposed Model is a representation of the psycho-socio-cultural process implied by the technological revolution experienced by the different educational systems in the last decades. The Model, accompanied by an implementation methodology, is made up of three fundamental components of the flipped classroom that interrelate with each other: the teaching-learning process in autonomy, in the network and during the class. The first establishes the actions of self-management of learning by the student, the second enables socialization through technological resources, and the third, at the time of the class, conceives the pertinent didactic strategies to enhance the active participation of the student. Data recording was carried out through the following techniques: survey, interview, observation and document analysis. The process of analysis and interpretation of the information was achieved through the different research stages: the analysis of the theoretical foundations that support the Model, the modeling and its methodological pillars, as well as the methodological application of the proposal, and finally, the validation of its scientific results. These stages make up the three parts of the research. The didactic model demonstrated the hypothesis that defended that the flipped classroom allows the development of the active participation of the Spanish student. This is translated in the classroom when a debate is generated and the student's critical-transformative thinking is observed. Finally, it is recommended to promote and support research that leads to the expansion of studies on the use of flipped classroom in other pedagogical spaces. This with the objective of strengthening the didactic principles of this approach

It reminds us of a series of questions about French literature and its role: Which position did the literary works take in the history of French language education in China? What is their current level and are they still useful? What shall we do in looking for a new method in order to make full use of them in education? Starting from a study of the French language teaching evolution in China, relying on an analysis of interviews organized by Chinese teachers and students, and based on the related theories and personal reflections, in this academic paper, I justify the advantages of French literature in language teaching and propose the possible solutions to promote the position of literary works in French language teaching in Chinese higher education

Full textRecently, teaching and learning in higher education, Faculty and educational development (FED) in particular, have become topical issues in France. However, the concepts are polysemic and protean. Moreover, some argue that there is a French specificity about FED. This research approaches the FED concept from three angles: teaching practices, faculty beliefs on what constitutes "good" or "bad" teaching, and their stated expectations and needs for professional development. This work was carried out with a mixed methodology combining qualitative and quantitative approaches, based on a survey of 174 academics of the same university, distributed across disciplines and various lengths of teaching experience. On the three accounts of practices, beliefs or expectations and needs, the population of respondents is heterogeneous and their FED may be approached in different ways. Our results point out that their teaching practices and views still predominately refer to the transmission model of teaching, blended with a consideration for the learner. This leads them to identify a need for support towards FED, but with a difficulty to identify what might contribute to satisfy it. FED appears as a solitary process that takes place in a "pedagogical isolation." When contemplating a possible French specificity, we concluded that it could not be established from the only perspective of academics. This leads to consider the prospects of a contextual analysis

Full textThe core of every discussion is student success. In a time when a transformation of teaching practices is encouraged in order to promote student success, where lectures are regarded as traditional, this thesis underlines the large heterogeneity of lectures and shows their effects on students’ practices in terms of note-taking and examination papers-writing. The key question of this study is formulated as follows: how can it be that some students work hard but still fail? Beyond school background and beyond family background, this thesis favors a new entry point: the teaching styles. This study highlights the effects of various teaching styles on different student methods of taking notes and writing examination papers (these different methods are considered as varying degrees of “responsiveness to the didactic contract”). By showing the correlations between teaching styles, note-taking styles and paper-writing styles, this study goes on to define the deciding factors of the complex issue of student success

Full textUniversities today are situated at the center of an emerging social imperative - considered vital and necessary - to effectively prepare individuals for entry into the job market with the capacities to respond to the fluctuating needs of evolving economies. Brought about by globalization and the Council of the European Union’s call for strengthening "Europe's competitiveness in a global knowledge economy" (2007), these transformations crystallized in France through the law, LRU (2007) detailed in the Plan License (PRL, 2007). This law mandated the following three principal axes: Universities shall prioritize student career guidance and professional development (as well as training and scientific research); criteria to measure and evaluate graduate employability shall be developed; and, at least half of each graduating class must meet the qualifications required for a higher education diploma. In light of these developments, this research is interested in the study of academic orientation, and more precisely questions surrounding the implementation, reception and appropriation of these policies by the full range of University orientation professionals. This research is subsequently concerned with the introduction of "active guidance" at the University level. It is within this space of experimentation and construction that inherent tensions foreground a polarization between what is described as "Educational Work" and "Pedagogical Mystification". This research will thus examine how teacher-researcherengagement unfolds at the center of a paradigm shift to cultivate creative tensions between social utility and professional development

Full textHow to teach in academia is most often learnt on-the-job (Knight, Tait & Yorke, 2006). But what does the phrase “on-the-job learning” genuinely mean in this case? This doctoral dissertation aims to identify which learning practices novice academics make use of to construct their teaching competences in France. A survey was carried out amongst novice academics asking them to describe how eight learning models may have contributed to the process of constructing their teaching competences. Results show that novices’ practices are eclectic and mainly informal. While public authorities have been developing for a while formal training structures targeted at all newly-hired academics, this research suggests that the variety of practices and the aspiration of novices to informality should also be taken into account

Full textThe objective of this research is to evaluate the integration of ICT in Palestinian universities for foreign language teaching: the case of RUFO and QIF projects. By adopting a constructivist theoretical approach, this study is conducted on three levels: micro (teachers and students), meso (on line courses) and macro (policy of the university and the Ministry of Education). The research is based on a qualitative and comprehensive methodology. A content analysis was applied to the triple collected data (interviews, excerpts from on line courses, official excerpts) The findings show that current teaching practices have not evolved as a result of the integration of ICT; the use of this new modality has amplified the existing traditional and directive practices; sometimes it has moved them backward. The main conclusion is that it is not possible to innovate without changing the educational paradigm and shifting from a teaching-centered model to a learning- centered one. Development of higher education requires the implementation of: a complex and cooperative educative engineering, a bidirectional and transversal management process of the innovation, and a training-coaching at all levels

Full textWhile many artists strive to redefine the performing arts and break through genre-bound approaches on European stages, actor training in France is still structured around strong disciplinary lines. Throughout their training, student-actors who prepare the “diplôme national supérieur professionnel de comédien” (National Acting Degree) in French-government-accredited acting schools, nonetheless take dance and singing classes, often train in martial arts and somatic practices, and sometimes try their hands at acrobatics, or playing an instrument. These non-theatrical disciplines are integrated to their training with a view to complementing the young actors' set of skills but also to make them experience what philosopher François Jullien calls “l'écart”, and come back to their own art enriched and energised by their foray into other disciplines. Even if the interdisciplinary approach is touted in programmes and theoretical literature issued by the most prominent acting schools, that prestige is not reflected in the share given to non-theatrical approaches in actual syllabuses. The teaching in acting-schools is based on performing the repertoire, with master-classes given by guest directors who bring their own vision of theatre and performance. The underlying value system places individual difference and artistic freedom at the top. This conception of acting can make it difficult to teach techniques based on the body, movement, vocal training, breathing, and focusing. The dilemma is that these practices need to be adapted to the overall teaching context, all the while preserving the otherness that makes them such a fruitful alternative both artistically and pedagogically. Thanks to a survey conducted at five French Acting Schools, alongside teachers and students, this thesis explores actor training in the light of interdisciplinarity, as an attempt to clarify its underlying ideological tenets and its aesthetic potential, as well as what it means for the future careers of professional actors

Full textThe aim of this doctoral work is to examine the experience of users of innovative teaching methods introduced at university. The various waves of massification of access to higher education have led to a diversification of the student population, whose success has become a priority. There are many factors that determine success, including contextual factors such as teaching practices. As a result, educational and digital transformation is at the heart of various calls for projects aimed at providing financial support for the university's development. The competitive nature of these calls for projects and the emulation they engender give rise to increasingly innovative proposals. At the other end of the chain, those involved implement, experiment with and experience these schemes on the ground. The aim of this research project is to question the players, and in particular the students, about their experience of these educational innovations, as part of the PRéLUDE project, one of the winners of the PIA 3 New University Curricula programme. The research is based on a constructivist, inductive approach. It used a variety of data collection methods: questionnaires, semi-structured interviews, Repertory Grid interviews, supplemented by documentary research and participant observation. These methods produced quantitative and qualitative data, analysed using quantitative and qualitative methods. This methodological diversity makes it possible to analyse the experience of users, thus questioning the design process both in terms of how the ideation is adapted to users and in terms of the actual implementation of the ideal project

Full textOur research tackles the question of how students from different types of educational systems adapt after secondary education. It is divided in two parts : a study on 277 former pupils and 400 parents, to analyse the development of competences specific to each educational system which facilitate their coping after secondary school ; a follow-up of 130 students during their first year in higher education, using various tools at three different periods of time (interviews, Coping Inventory for Stressfull Situations, State Trait Anxiety Inventory, and Beck Depression Inventory). Our hypothesis is that former alternative school pupils will adjust better to higher education, because certain characteristics are better developed : coping focused on the problem, self-efficacy, etc. Our results confirm this assumption : these pupils show higher academic performances and psychological well-being (lower anxiety and depression levels, greater life satisfaction)

Full textGermany after 1945 was a territorial unity that had lost its status as a State and which was divided into four zones of occupation. The program of reform of art education is part of the widespread political and cultural renewal that took place during the subsequent post-War years. The importance of these reforms is a question to consider, with respect to the difficult ethical, historical and ideological context that shaped them. To all appearances, the reopening of many artistic institutions gave birth to an exceptional period of cultural and artistic activity. Indeed, some artists who had lost their right to practice under the Third Reich agreed to come back and teach art at these newly reopened institutions. The present study will focus on those artist-educators who developed the most innovative pedagogical concepts and methods, for example Willi Baumeister (Art Academy in Stuttgart), Karl Otto Götz (Art Academy in Düsseldorf) and Georg Meistermann (Art Academy in Karlsruhe). In total, the group I wish to investigate taught in eleven higher education institutions across all the four occupation zones; their work continued later, in the post-War states, FRG and GDR. My research methodology includes bibliographic research, archival research, and interviews with former students, many of whom have become artist-educators themselves. My correspondents were the benefactors of an extraordinary kind of teacher-student relationship that stressed an attitude of freedom that contrasted strongly with the previous historical period of the mid-1930s to 1945. The vast majority of German artists who now have an international reputation — including Georg Baselitz, Otto Piene, Gerhard Richter, Günter Uecker — studied in one or several higher art schools or art academies in the occupied zones (East or West) after 1945

Full textThe introduction of the new technologies in the device of training, for landing the geographical distance, can quite particularly have some influence on the educational practices which modifies strikingly all the elements of the system. Our research joins in the problem and the effect of the integration of the TIC on the innovation of the educational practice in university. To track down all the main factors which create brakes in the innovation and in the changes of the educational methods in the distance training. Our research results discover that the brakes of the innovation and in the changes are connected to the institutional, technological and educational contexts which constitute a whole set of conditions of development of the distance training with TIC. So, we noticed that there is an interdependent relation between these three dimensions of our model. Without the change of all the institutional, technological and educational plans, the educational innovation cannot succeed as we estimate it. Our empirical work shows the importance of the role of the guardian in a device of on-line formation, to answer the problems of abandonment through the dialogue, the accompaniment and the follow-up of learners. We clarify to show that in a device of on-line formation (e-learning), the relation of education is modified, the teacher, the trainer and learner participate interactively in the mutual practice of access to the knowledge. The roles of the teachers and the trainers, their modes of intervention which are transformed, entail a redefining of their territories, their identities, their statuses and their powers. What obliges the teaching world, notably university to undergo a profound alteration (transfer). We conclude finally, on the efficiency and the evaluation of this new device, so tracks to integrate better TIC into the distance training

Jedrkiewicz-Owczarek, Floriane. "La formation hybride : entre conception et usage." Thesis, Paris 1, 2022. http://www.theses.fr/2022PA01E012.
Full textThe concept of hybrid training, combining activities in presence and distance, most often supported by a digital platform, before 2020 was a niche solution, little recognized. It was forcibly democratized with the covid-19 pandemic, even forcing the emergence of a new form of hybridization where the two modalities merge. The first definition of hybrid training appeared in 1995, written by Didier Valdès in his thesis for Paris 2 Panthéon Assas. He pointed out a certain number of criteria essential to the design of such training. However, the historiography concerning the study of these, from a erspective of definition, evaluation and design, was quickly turned upside down by the emergence of web 2.0. The design criteria adopted became more and more numerous and technical, the authors interviewing only a part of the actors (teachers or students), without a global vision and without taking into account their real activity. This approach, not integrating the activity of their operators, leads to complex hybrid training courses to be followed both for students and teachers, who may even be resistant to Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs). ) employees, or even to training in general. We are therefore looking to observe a hybrid training taking into account the activity of the operators, in order to deduce design tracks more in line with it. We employ an ethnocentric methodology, based on the theoretical framework of the activity, with an associated method - in particular the notions of prescribed and real. We thus seek to go beyond the usual dichotomies with machine / without machine, and presence / distance. We refer particularly to the activity theory developed by Yrjö Engeström, and to the instrumental theory of Pierre Rabardel. We observe a hybrid module of initiation to information and Pix certification within a university course More specifically, we have retained for the analysis a chapter of the course comprising a 1h30 face-to-face session and work to be done remotely. All the data available over this observation period is used, i.e. a heterogeneous set including open observations in class, video recordings, interviews carried out with users and designers, questionnaire for students, collection of emails from the teacher, data generated through the IT platform, and presence on student workspaces and exchanges such as Facebook and Google Drive. These data are combined in quantitative and qualitative ways, and analyzed through the production of detailed chronologies, Engeström contradiction tables, and a revised version of Gaëtan Bourmaud's Method of Failures and Substitutions of Resources (MDSR). We highlight a clear gap between prescribed and actual training (that is to say between training designed and in situ), resulting from a design in use carried out by the actors - teachers and students. This implies paradigm shifts, particularly with regard to student autonomy, the objective of the training which disrupts the position of the teacher. This conception in use is the result of a collective work of the operators (teacher and students), practically leading to a redesign of the training according to the needs actually felt. The design of a hybrid training in accordance with this activity would thus suppose to use the distance for what it is, in order to facilitate the creation of a community of university learning

Full textThis fieldwork is a extensive ethnographical survey ranging between 5 and 7 years, of 20 students from working class and immigrant backgrounds living in the northern suburbs of Paris. Set in a 3 act scenario, the Is' episode takes place in highschool during a 6 year period where I employ participant observation methods whilst teaching. The 2"d episode analyses the undergraduate years and the dispersion of 'my' former pupils within the Higher Education system, from local suburban universities to elite Parisian schools. The 3rd episode depicts the postgraduate years and the final entrance into the job market. The study as a whole analyses social structural constraints as well as oppositional relationships and processes through the lenses of individual cases, plurality of social scenes and temporality. Biographic trajectories and school careers enlighten the conditions under which social mobility is possible as well as the dispositional adjustments it requires. The new contradictions of 'school massification' appear. The Key to success lies in the ability to face territorial stigma, class ostracism, cultural illegitimacy, racism and islamophobia more than 'pure' academic skills. These social ordeals reinforce the fragmentation of an unequal system. The desire for outcast students to find an 'appropriate' curriculum participates in remapping the inner frontiers of legitimacy and commodification of the cultural capital. This shift goes against the sense of dignity and singularity that is acquired through school acculturation, displaying a tension inbetween reproduction and emancipation. This urges reconsideration of pedagogy as a rapport and of the performativity of knowledge

Full textThe guarantors of every culture are always worried about transmitting their values to young generations for their safeguard. In the field of education in general, and higher education in particular, in addition to cultural values, some universal knowledge and acquaintances which help to find a job as well as to structure the personality of those who benefit from these learnings, are also transmitted. The university organization is also a social constructed and this organization is an assembly of relations of powers that the actors establish together. In order to achieve this mission and make the communication of the knowledge easier and therefore reach the objectives of the organization, teachers are ipso facto invested with a power awarded by the academic institution. But this power finds its strength and its consistence only when the holder is really the authority approved not only by the model and the reference he tries to represent for the learners but also by his skills and the undisputed master of his teaching subject. Nevertheless, in Benin, this power tends to be exaggerated by teachers who are themselves influenced by their native culture. Because they are the ones « who know », they consider themselves as traditional leaders, demigods to whom the learner owes a total submission. There we are, in a model of social reproduction greatly described by Pierre Bourdieu who confirms the fact « the stay in the water doesn’t turn a tree trunk into a crocodile », according to the saying of Saydou Badian. It means that despite his training, his skills and degree which make him a « new being », a modern being, the teacher in Benin will always find it difficult to get rid of a cultural background which belongs to him and which is so specific. The learner is aware that his social being because of his future career is generated by the knowledge which allows to be graduated. To paraphrase Victor Hugo, I venture to say that each learner we teach is a subject, a social actor we gain. The knowledge is then marketed in the university chosen as an investigation field. The development of my research subject will take advantage from a great contribution of the social and cultural anthropology, the sociology of power and the pedagogy

The superposition principle stirulates, according coulomb's law, that all the present electric charges contribute to the total field. It is essential to lead to an unified understanding of electrostatics and electric circuits. Our hypothesis is that, in applying this principle, some difficulties appear, which are linked to a narrow conception of causality. This hypothesis determines the study of common ways of reasoning and some of the levers of the sequence. After a preliminary inquiry, the research's tools have principally been questionnaires. Two obstacles have been identified

Full textThe ICTE (Information and Communication Technologies for Education) and the Educational Innovation in the Higher Education : Why and How Human Interaction Modes Evolve within the Pedagogical Information Systems ? ”Within the framework of the Bologna process and the evolution of the traditional practices towards more flexible ways of teaching, our ongoing research project, proposes to analyse the innovative modes of the use of the ICTE in the educational and learning process just as in the practice communities. For many years, the eLearning concept came in the common educational usage and in the educational institutions. Most of the sources we refered to, generally define it as a “learning supported by the ICT”. These are interesting definitions that link the learning process (considered as the action’s goal) with the technologies (considered most of the time as a means). This closeness in the definition doesn’t mean causality. Until now, all the research on the different forms of technologies that appeared during the last thirty years (from the Teaching Assisted by Computer TAC to interactive cd) have highlighted the importance of the educational system in which technological tools are immersed (Kadiyala & Crynes, 2000). This can explain for a large part of the current researches on the conditions of the efficiency of the information and the communication technologies, (Technology Enhanced Learning) in education (Which methods? Which systems?), and the research of the added values (Which results?). Other researches consider the technologies as a catalyst and an accelerator of the pedagogic innovation in the institutions (Liétart, 2007). In that matter, the context of the Universities of the French Community of Belgium (and/or European) is particularly interesting to investigate : the much diversified current mix of educational forms, the technological uses mainly around certain platforms such as Claroline (for many potential partners), the presence of contrasting educational disciplines, the also diversified teacher’s training, the encouragement for educational innovations, the hybrid devices …constitute at the same time a rich field and interesting variables to investigate for a better comprehension of the conditions and of the quality factors of techno-educational innovation and of the human/machine interaction

Although several studies have emphasized the importance of metacognition in musical learning and development, only a small number have examined its use in the collective and heterogeneous teaching of musical instruments in undergraduate music education programs, particularly with respect to wind instruments of the brass family. Therefore, within the framework of an interpretive/constructivist paradigm, the goal of this qualitative research study of an exploratory nature was to describe the use of metacognitive strategies in the processes of teaching and learning these instruments and reading music notation, during the course Complementary Instrument - Winds 1, in an undergraduate program in music education at a public university in Northeastern Brazil. A 32-hour pedagogical intervention was carried out employing didactic materials and pedagogical approaches designed in the interest of promoting, in addition to learning these instruments and reading music notation, the metacognitive development of the students. The sample was comprised of eight students (n = 8), four females and four males, aged 19-22 years old. Data collection tools included a Questionnaire on Socio-demographic Data and Prior Musical Knowledge, nine Reflection Reports, a Reflection Questionnaire and a Music Study and Performance Practice Test. A content analysis was conducted using coding strategies based on the work of Garcia and Dubé (2012) and Whitebread et al. (2009). A total of 856 metacognitive indices were identified that allowed the researcher to describe the characteristics of the learning process, highlighting aspects related to metacognitive knowledge about people, tasks and strategies, as well as the management of mental processes related to planning, control and regulation. The results of this research study suggest that metacognition can be an important tool in the contexts of collective teaching of musical instruments, allowing not only for learning and/or musical development, but also for the development of pedagogical skills.

Full textThis research targets the teaching and learning of the notion of free fall. It aims at developing a learning sequence intended for high school seniors and which goal is to rebuild the notion of acceleration from the notion of speed variation. The chosen methodology falls within didactic engineering of second generation. Three exploratory studies contribute to preliminary work. The first one focuses on usual practices of free fall teaching in the beginning of the 2Oth century through the analysis of physics textbooks. It shows that the study of falling bodies appears like a content at the crossroads of kinematics and dynamics. It also allows to question the added value of using vectors at the epistemological, methodological and educational level. The second study explores the ability of first year students in drawing vectors in kinematics. It highlights that the use of vectors raises difficulties and is a kinematics skill in itself. The third study is a content analysis of the notion of acceleration and its characteristics in the case of free fall. It leads to the presentation of different semiotic representation registers of acceleration. These preliminary analyses lead to the conception of a sequence which puts the vector representation at the centre of the learning system and which hypothesis is that the representation of several successive velocity vectors is a learning tool. The results show positive effects on student learning especially by enabling to deepen the knowledge of free fall and improve the skills in using vectors. These results also help to identify and describe possible measures for improvement of the learning sequence

By Requiring employable skills (EC), this society acquires a new dimension (SICS & CE) and passes labor market from classic concept of "job market" to "employability market (MEMP)" seeking flexibility and adaptive skills to changes. Foresight Scanning in general and specifically digital one, works by its "Information and Knowledge Production Process" to develop information literacy/Internet (CIVI) to improve various individual skills. In this sense, this thesis evolves in a qualitative and interpretative exploratory approach, to treat the issue of quality skills development, defining the employability of university students. It seeks to know how a universities’ foresight scanning will improve quality of their employable CIVI culture skill, by adopting in its informational production process, a market-oriented relational marketing involving university students as "internal customers ", as well as employability market actors as" external customers " ?Evolving in a socio-constructivist perspective, series of evaluations on skills and satisfactions of learners as well as their skills CIVI assessment models were developed as part of a competency based approach (SBA) adopting a relational internal and external marketing. This approach is characterized firstly by an "Orientation-Involvement of Learners-Clients: OI-APCL" and secondly by an "Orientation-Involvement of employability market: OI-MEMP," based on an educational blog as informational Web.2.0 System and monitoring tool designed to develop competency in information literacy learners. This led us to conclude in the orientation forward an employability university, skills levels improvement by declining secular groups CIVI culture, from 88.74% to 41.94% and a need for training CIVI rate of Culture from 89.50% to 46.50% resulting to learner employability and the recruitment of three groups of the 20 pairs graduate students involved in our work, This recommends adoption of an " Foresight Scanning employability" for quality development skills in SICS&CE society seeking now more than information and knowledge, but also flexibility skills to adapt changes and innovations defining really individual employability

Full textIf the Guizot law of 28 june 1833 established officially the primary education in France, surprisingly, the historiography of the school had little interest in it. Our tesis aspires to fill modestly that void and is interested in the positioning of the legislation with the school of Ancien Régime, under an pedagogical angle, the organization ot the classes, and structural, through the écoles primaires supérieures.Firstly, the few studies dedicated to the law lead us to propose a new reading of the genesis of the text from a three approaches: political, historical and philosophical. The second part is devoted to the link pedagogical of the legislation with the old school system. Obviously, a certain educational modernity appear, even if they will stay at a theoretical level during many years still. The third part is dedicated to the double european influence to the law: Swiss and Prussian. We will show that Guizot relied on the school project of 1798 of the Swiss Minister Stapfer and that Victor Cousin imported the Bürgerschulen in the French ground with the aim of protecting the secondary education. Then, our tesis attemps to the study of écoles primaires supérieures funded by the law. Rather than to answer economic new needs, the place that they will occupy in the intermediate education will allow to reserve the secondary education for pupils' minority. Finally, our research goes on until the enseignement secondaire spécial of Victor Duruy, which would have extended les écoles primaires supérieures of Guizot. In conclusion, we stress the importance of the Guizot Law in the construction of the modern school, but also the closure of the secondary education it has generated

Full textIn France, there is little research on university teaching and focusing specifically on teaching practices. This present research aims to explore this concept in two different ways. The first part focuses on the description of the practices implemented by teachers during first-year university lectures. Using in situ observation of lecture practices of 49 teachers from five programmes, we first show that teachers’ practices mostly rely on traditional methods as defined by Bru (2006). However, we show a variety of practices among teachers. The second part of this research updates our knowledge of the implications of these practices on student studies. 734 freshmen from these sectors were interviewed by questionnaire. We see first that the " declared practices " by the students, or in other words the opinion that they have of teaching practices, particularly affect their motivation, while the effect on ways of studying is nonexistent all things being equal. In comparison to other variables, such as those related to educational background of the individual, they have in addition a relatively moderate impact on the average score of the exam first and second semester and the likelihood of passing the year. However, the motivation appears to be a mediator of the effect of "declared" on study practices and success. In addition, we look at the effect of "observed" practices, ie effectively implemented by teachers on student studies. These play a significant direct role in explaining study practices and student success, but they have no effect on motivation

Full textHigher education is nowadays the subject of a growing body of research at the international level. It should be noted, however, that the pedagogical practices of university teachers, particularly in Physics, giving lectures and from a didactic approach, remain rather unexplored. Our research is developed in this context. This research aims to create a methodology for qualitative analysis of lectures taught and delivered by physicist professors. We chose to concentrate on the analysis of actual teaching practices of four physics teachers in France and Colombia during a first-year undergraduate course (teaching Newtonian mechanics). Our exploration was guided by the following question: What strategies do teachers use to help students understand the content of the course? The notion of "discursive proximities" is here mobilized to enrich modeling approaches, particularly using conceptual maps; this notion makes it possible to specify and compare each discourse that was analyzed

Full textThis work intends to contribute to an improvement in the quality of pedagogical supervision through the use of digital resources in teaching and learning of Arabic at university. The objective isto high light the added value that these resources bring in the framework of the teaching of Arabic grammar. One of the proposed strategies to achieve the objective of our research is based on an interactive method. The goal of this approach is, on the one hand, to encourage interaction (teacher / student and student / student) and on the other hand, to improve the quality of the pedagogical environment. The research is based on three axes :The first relates to two investigations conducted in both universities Lyon II and Lyon III in 2013/2014, which raised concerns regarding the teaching of Arabicgrammar at the university. The results of these investigations high lightedalack of educational tools likely to motivate students to work, and the lack of opportunity to improve student / teacher interaction. The second concerns the design of digital resources for the teaching and learning of Arabic grammar (foreign language) :˗ A didactic web site consisting of 70 activities grammatical computerized, 360 exercises, 360 texts, 293 photos and 70 videos.˗ A Facebook page of « The Easy Arabic Grammar » which contains 29 grammatical activities, 74 publications, 7 videos and 22 photos. The third axis covered an analysis of the data collected after the use of these resources during the second semester of TD at Lyon III University in 2017. The analysis of the data shows how the use of digital resources, has increased the quality of students performances and how the online interaction (teacher / student) and (student / student) motivates the students and gives very positive results. At the end of our research, we hope that universities in France will take into account the need to integrate digital resources into the teaching of Arabic at the university, and especially in the teaching of Arabic grammar, which would to increase the quality of education and, consequently, the level of students
