Abstract:
This paper investigates the category of expressivity in contemporary English scientific discourse. In particular, metatexts representing scientific articles in the international citations databases, namely Scopus and WoS, are analyzed. The aforesaid metatexts, including the title of the publication and the abstract to it, are treated as secondary small format units which represent a complete semantic replica of the original full-text version of the article retaining its basic functional and pragmatic characteristics. Objectivity, clarity of expression and lack of subjective modality are traditionally perceived as the key features of written scientific communication. At the same time, the argumentative nature of scientific discourse is supposed to bring about the language means of expressing one’s personal position and affecting the addressee. Thus, this paper aims to elicit the expressive means typical of scientific small format metatexts, and to shape them into an expressivity matrix. With the help of stylistic and discourse analysis, the expressive means ofdifferent linguistic layers are selected. Further on, due to the quantitative analysis the hierarchy of expressive means is determined on all the levels of the language system. In the final stage of the analysis the data is systematized into a matrix of scientific metatexts expressivity means. The acquired data prompt a conclusion that the scientific metatexts are characterized by a specific system of linguistic expressive means. The central position in this system is occupied by the lexical means, mainly by the evaluative adjectives. The second place is taken by the tropes, especially metaphor. The means of expressive syntax are on the periphery of the expressivity matrix, as well as the expressive means of the graphical character. The acquired results contribute to the understanding of the dynamic processes that the category of expressivity is undergoing in the contemporary scientific discourse; also they can be of practical use for those intending to publish their scientific works in the international high-rating scientific editions.

Abstract:
Disintegration is now internally threatening Indonesia. It is assumed that the problem is caused by cultural misunderstanding. The cultural misunderstanding has resulted in intolerance and radicalism of group ideology. For years Indonesia with its 250 million populations has been peacefully living together with Pancasila ideology in which unity in cultural diversities is highly appreciated and respected. The root of problem lies in the practice of education and obviously the best solution is through education. One of the solutions to the problem is by integrating critical literacy principles in the field of Englsih language learning. Principles of critical multicultural and global literacy can be integrated in English language learning. Theory of systemic functional linguistic (SFL) is in line with and contributes to the principles of critical literacy. This paper combines principles of critical literacy and those of SFL in developing language learning materials. It is expected that by integration of critical literacy principles and those of SFL in the practice of English language education, Indonesia can avoid disruptions of national disinttegration and regain national unity in harmony.

Abstract:
The air quality index (AQI) in Papua has the best index among other provinces in Indonesia. Papua has different geographical and social conditions than western Indonesia. In particular, forests in Papua are more numerous with fewer industries and automobiles than provinces in western Indonesia. The article aims to determine respondents' perceptions related to climate change awareness and pro-environmental behavior (PEB) in regions that have AQI in Indonesia, namely Papua. This study uses a survey strategy through a questionnaire instrument for students who have received the application of digital literacy and gamification in the English for Specific Purposes class. The questionnaire was distributed to be filled in by respondents with a total number of responses totaling 164 responses from students of engineering faculty. This study identified that respondents' awareness of climate change was in the moderately aware category (M = 3.8). These findings are directly proportional to PEB respondents who are at the middle level (M = 3.9). Furthermore, analysis of the data shows that respondents are highly aware (M = 4.3) that humans have a responsibility for climate change, and respondents are highly concern (M = 4.4) to carry out forestation both by individuals and community. The finding implication of this study is learning through digital literacy and gamification has a positive potential to be applied through policy and developed into a learning model to increase awareness of climate change and PEB. Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui penyimpangan sintksis dalam penerjemahan tesk Bahasa Indonesia ke dalam Bahasa Inggris yang dibuat mahsiswa semester VI Prodi Sastra Inggris UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. Penelitian kualitatif ini menggunakan data verbal dalam bentuk produk penerjemahan dari Bahasa Indonesia ke dalam Bahasa Inggris. Data verbal tersebut terdiri atas 20 teks terjemahan dari Bahasa Indonesia ke dalam Bahasa Inggris yang terpilih dari 41 lembar teks yang dibuat mahasiswa. Seluruh data dianalisis secara kualitatif dengan memperhatikan tingkat keberterimaan dan kegramatikalan kalimat Bahasa Inggris. Penelitian ini memperlihatkan kalimat-kalimat Bahasa Inggris yang diterjemahkan dari teks Bahasa Indonesia ke dalam Bahasa Inggris belum memenuhi standard penerjemahan yang baik, terutama dalam aspek kesepadanan makna antara Bahasa sumber dan sasaran; serta keberterimaan dan kegramatikalan kalimat Bahasa Inggris. Mahasiswa masih membuat kalimat-kalimat Bahasa Inggris yang mengandung penyimpangan sintaksis dari kaedah Bahasa Inggris yang benar. Penyimpangan tersebut umumnya terjadi pada penyusunan frasa nomina sebagai subjek dan objek, frasa verba, dan kalusa yang disebabkan oleh keleahan mahasiswa dalam menganalisis makna kalimat dalam Bahasa sumber, strategi yang kurang tepat dalam menejemahkan, dan kompetensi gramatikal yang rendah. Oleh karena itu, mahasiswa masih perlu diberikan latihan-latihan yang mendorong mereka memamfaatkan kemampuan linguistic dan nonlinguistic dalam menerjemahkan teks dari Bahasa Indonesia ke dalam Bahasa Inggris sehingga produk penerjemahan yang dibuat memenuhi standard penerjemahan yang baik.---Abstract The research is aimed at knowing the syntactical deviation in Indonesian-English translation committed by the sixth semester students of Letters Department UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. This qualitative study relies on verbal data in the form of students’ translation product from Indonesian into English. Its unit of analysis comprises 20 Englsih texts chosen purposively from the translation products made by 41 students who were involved in the research. The data are analyzed qualitatively in terms of the acceptability and grammaticality of the English sentences. The study shows the English text the students translated from Indonesian do not meet the quality of a good translation in terms of meaning equivalence between the source language and the target language; and the grammaticality and acceptability of English sentences. The students still produce English sentences containing many syntactical deviations. These happen to noun phrases as subject and object of the verbs; verb phrases; and clauses. The syntactical deviations are caused by their weaknesses in analyzing the meaning of source language sentences to be translated; the fault strategies used in translating; and the lack of grammatical competence. Therefore, they still need more exercises in translating Indonesian into English by exploring their linguistic and nonlinguistic competence. Besides, they still need more guidance how to translate Indonesian into English that fulfills the criteria of a good translation.

Abstract:
The research investigated the use of email interview to develop the critical thinking and creativity of the university students in American culture classes. The students conducted email interview with Americans for group project and had group discussion with the Americans. Learning culture was an integral part of learning a language, which was crucial for the Englsih as a Foreign Language (EFL) learners to develop their awareness and understanding of the rich and dynamic cultural aspects of the target language. Thus, providing cultural experiences through project-based learning (PBL) would be motivating for the language learners in exploring the target culture. The data were collected from students’ open-ended online questionnaire and observation notes, which contain students’ interview result and their presentation slides. Descriptive statistics and thematic analysis were used in analyzing the data. The findings indicate that the use of project-based approach is helpful to enhance the students’ understanding and critical thinking skills. Moreover, it is found that the students’ positive attitude has increased due to the use of PBL. They are more critical towards the cultural phenomenon since their communication skill has developed.

Abstract: English is a compulsory subject that must be taken by every students of FKIP Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM). Clear reference on what material should be given to the students must be clear enough so that they can get benefit from this subject. To find out the correct reference, needs analysis is urged to be done in order to obtain information about what the students really need to support their learning process at the present time or in the future. This study is aimed at identifying and analyzing the needs of these English learners. This study was conducted by using qualitative approach and descriptive method. The population of this study were students from 5 deparments who are currently taking English subject and the sampling technique used was purposive random sampling. Meanwhile, a questionnaire as the instrument for this study was arranged in closed-ended form. Technical data analysis applied in this study was descriptive analysis in the form of number and percentage. The study revealed that the needs of non-English Department students on English subject are very diverse and it can be concluded that they need English not only for their current needs as they can read various English literature that support their education in their field of study, but also for their professional future occupation. It is therefore recommended that ESP English teachers or other related parties should accommodate the needs of these students. In addition, it is suggested to always perform needs analysis since the needs of ESP learners are constantly changing. Untuk mengetahui acuan tersebut, perlu dilakukan needs analysis agar mahasiswa mendapatkan materi yang benar-benar mereka perlukan untuk mendukung proses belajar mereka pada saat ini atau dimasa yang akan datang. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk menganalisis kebutuhan para pembelajar Bahasa Inggris. Penelitian dilakukan dengan pendekatan kualitatif dan metode deskriptif. Populasi penelitian adalah mahasiswa yang sedang mengambil mata kuliah Bahasa Inggris pada 5 jurusan yang ada di FKIP ULM Banjarmasin. Pengambilan sampel menggunakan teknik purposive random sampling. Instrumen penelitian menggunakan kuesioner. Data dianalisis dengan teknik deskriptif dalam bentuk jumlah dan persentase. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kebutuhan mahasiswa non prodi Bahasa Inggris terhadap mata kuliah Bahasa Inggris ESP sangat beragam sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa mereka memerlukan Bahasa Inggris bukan saja untuk kebutuhan mereka saat ini seperti membaca literatur berbahasa Inggris, tetapi juga untuk kepentingan pekerjaan nantinya. Oleh karena itu disarankan agar pengajar Bahasa Inggris ESP atau pihak yang berkepentingan dapat mengakomodasi kebutuhan mahasiswa, serta selalu melakukan need analysis karena kebutuhan pembelajar ESP juga selalu berubah. Abstract:
Cette étude vise à dégager les différents états de dégradation de la végétation au sein de la forêt marécageuse de la Tanoe-Ehy, à travers 4 relevés linéaires de 100 mètres de long. L’analyse de ces relevés a montré qu’au niveau des types biologiques, l’espèce Combretum racemosum P. Beauv. (Combretaceae) représente l’essentielle des espèces lianescentes. Dans cette forêt, parmi les espèces qui contribuent fortement à la formation de la végétation, il y a la présence des espèces vulnérables de l’UICN. Concernant les recouvrements, les strates basses sont faiblement occupées. Cependant, la végétation est dense dans les strates moyennes. Ces recouvrements ont montré que la dégradation de la structure des milieux est une conséquence de l’exploitation villageoise. Par ailleurs, cette forêt marécageuse présente des recouvrements particuliers qui n’ont jamais été observés en forêt dense humide de Côte d’Ivoire.Mots clés : Structure, végétation, forêt, marécageuse, types biologiques, recouvrements. Englsih Title: Structural Characteristic of the marshy areas of the Tanoé-Ehy forest (Southeastern Côte d'Ivoire) This study aims to identify the different state of vegetation degradation within the Tanoe-Ehy swamp forest, through 4 linear surveys 100 meters long. Analysis of these surveys showed that at the level of biological types, the species Combretum racemosum P. Beauv. (Combretaceae) is the essential of lianescent species. In this forest, among the species that contribute heavily to vegetation formation, there is the presence of vulnerable IUCN species. For overlays, the lower strata are poorly occupied. However, vegetation is dense in the middle strata. These recoveries have shown that the degradation of the structure of the environments is a consequence of village exploitation. In addition, this swamp forest has special overlays that have never been seen in the dense rainforest of Côte d'Ivoire. Keywords: Structure, vegetation, forest, swampy, biological types, recoveries.

Abstract:
Malgré son importance socioéconomique, la production ivoirienne de noix de cola est confrontée à plusieurs difficultés. Le manque de techniques culturales éprouvées constitue une des contraintes pour la domestication et la culture du colatier. Il est donc nécessaire de mettre au point des techniques adaptées à l’espèce cultivée. L’objectif de cette étude est d’optimiser la méthode de bouturage sous tunnel du colatier (Cola nitida), face aux inconvénients de la multiplication générative. Le dispositif expérimental utilisé est un Split-Splot avec deux facteurs : le génotype avec cinq modalités (5 génotypes) et le nombre de feuilles avec cinq (05) modalités (1, 2, 3, 4 et 5 feuilles diminuées de moitié). Nous avons le génotype en grande parcelle et le nombre de feuilles en petite parcelle. L’aptitude des génotypes au bouturage a été évaluée à six mois à travers le taux de survie et la mesure des paramètres de croissance et de développement. Le génotype L18A1D9 a montré la meilleure aptitude au bouturage avec un taux de survie de 41,7%. Les boutures avec 4 feuilles diminuées de moitié ont eu le meilleur taux de survie (41,7%), un bon enracinement des boutures vivantes (88,9%), une biomasse totale fraîche (4,2 g) et totale sèche (1,7 g) élevée. Le succès du bouturage sous tunnel du colatier est tributaire du génotype et du nombre de feuilles. Le nombre de feuilles recommandé par bouture est de quatre (4) pour le bouturage du colatier sous tunnel.Mot clés : Bouturage, nombre de feuilles, Cola nitida, génotype. Englsih Title: Influence of genotype and number of leaves on the growth in nurseries of cola cuttings (Cola nitida [Wind.] Schott and Endlicher.)Despite its socio-economic importance, kola nut production faces several challenges. Domestication and cultivation of kola requires the adoption of propagation techniques adapted to the crop species. The objective of this study is to optimize kola (Cola nitida) vegetative propagation by cutting under tunnel. The experimental design used was a split-splot with two factors: genotype with five modalities (5 genotypes,) and leave number with five (05) modalities (1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 leaves cut in half). The ability of genotype to cutting propagation was assessed by measuring growth parameters. The survival rate of the cuttings was evaluated at six months. Root growth, number of new leaves, height gain and biomass were subsequently measured. Genotype L18A1D9 has the best ability for vegetative propagation by cuttings with a survival rate of 41.7%. To optimize vegetative propagation by cuttings under tunnel, 4 leaves cut in half by cuttings must be used for acceptable success rate (41.7%), good rooting (88.9%), a high total fresh biomass (4.2 g) and total biomass (1.7g). The success of kola vegetative propagation depends of genotype and the leave number per cutting. The goal of this reaserach is to get data about the effect of cooperative learning and dicipline to the result of english learning at SMP Anugerah Abadi Pamulang Tangerang Selatan.The method of this research is experimental. The sample are 60 students that consist of 3O experimental class, and 3O control class that uses sampling technique, cluster sampling of konvensional learning. It can be proved by Fo=7,087 and sig = 0,010 < 0,05. The data analysis uses ANOVA in two line. The result of this research shows are: (1) there is signifcant effect of cooperative learning to the result of english learning student, (2) there is significant effect between students dicipline to the result of englsh learning, (3) there is effect of interaction that signficant between students dicipline and cooperativev learning to the result of english learning. This research has benefit to inprove the result of english learning by using cooperative learning style, as jigsaw, and students dicipine in the class, and optimalization students in learning English.

The method used in this research is qualitative research with content analysis technique.The data collected through document review. The research finding shows that the perecentage of men are higher than women in the aspects of main character and historical event, the use of equal language, public and domestic role, and art talent, sport, and intellectual competence on the books of indonesia writer in four language skills such as listening, speaking, reading, and writing.This description shows that women are inferior because of culture, misinterpretation of religion, and patriarchy system factor. Whreas the perecentage of men and women are gender equal on the book of English writer, especially in the main character, the language equal, the public and domestic role, and the art talent, but the sport and intelectual competence showed that the perencentage of men are high. It means that women have opportunity as men and especially domestic role is responsibility of both men and women. It can be concluded that the Englsh textbook is written by Indonesian that called curriculum 2013 can not be used as English lesson, whereas the English textbook of English writer can recommend as English lesson because it found the equal gender.

Aboriginal English1, the language many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students bring to the classroom, represents the introduction of significant change into the English language. It is the argument of this paper that the linguistic, social and cultural facts associated with the distinctiveness of Aboriginal English need to be taken into account in the English language education of both Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander and non-Indigenous students in Australia. The paper illustrates seven significant changes of expression which Aboriginal English has made possible in English. It then proposes a “responsive pedagogy” to represent a realistic and respectful pedagogicalresponse to the linguistic, social and cultural change which underlies Aboriginal English, drawing on current literature on second language and dialect acquisition and making frequent reference to materials whichhave been developed to support such pedagogy. It is implied that only with a pedagogy responding to Aboriginal English as it is, and to its speakers, will a viable English medium education for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people be enabled. 1Aboriginal English” is the term used to denote “a range of varieties of English spoken by many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and some others in close contact with them which differ in systematic ways from Standard Australian English at all levels of linguistic structure and which are used for distinctive speech acts, speech events and genres” (Malcolm 1995, p 19).

This study used the qualitative case study. The case study was intended to analyze the use of textbook entitled “Let’s Learn English”. The participants of this study was the teacher as the user. Text book analysis used was adapted from Mukundan & Nimehchisalem (2010). The results revealed that textbook entitled “Let’s Learn English” is applicable as an instructional material. This study aimed to find out whether using English Slang Words affects students’ speaking skill of the 2018/2019 tenth grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Hinai Kabupaten Langkat. In this study, using English slang words as the independent variable (X) and students’ speaking skill as the dependent variable (Y), with the hypothesis: using English slang words significantly affects students’ speaking skill of the 2018/2019 tenth grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Hinai Kabupaten Langkat . The population of this study was the 2018/2019 tenth grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Hinai Kabupaten Langkat. Which consisted of 154 students. The sample was taken buy using cluster random sampling, that consist of 81 students. Then, the sample was divided into two groups, the group taught by using English slang words was as the experimental group and the group taught without Englih slang words was as the control group. The writer used interview test as the instrument of collecting data. The data was analyzed by using t-test formula. Based on the data analysis, it was found that the value of t-observed (t0) was higher than the value of t-table, (tobserved = 7,47 > ttable = 2,00). Therefore, the hypothesis proposed by the writer was accepted. In the other words, using English Slang Words significantly affects the students’ speaking skill of the 2018/2019 tenth grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Hinai Kabupaten Langkat.Keywords: English slang words, speaking skill

SUMMARY In spite of later clearly delineated American dialects, many visitors as well as inhabitants in colonial and early federal America commented upon the uniformity of American English, although others pointed out differences. Taken together, the usual evidence sources such as orthoepistic and grammatical description, naive spellings, contemporary journalistic commentary, or literary dialect representation provide indecisive evidence. However, a principle of perceptual recognition of language variation in relation to both an external standard (British English) and a developing internal standard (American English) may account for the uniformity comments while diversity simultaneously existed. RÉSUMÉ Malgré l'existence d'un certain nombre de dialectes déjà bien délimités, de nombreux voyageurs et habitants d'Amérique coloniale remarquèrent et commentèrent sur l'uniformité de l'anglais américain, alors que d'autres relevèrent des différences significatives. En gros, les documents habituels, tels que les descriptions orthopéistes et grammaticales, les orthographes naïves, les commentaires journalistiques de l'époque et les dialectales littéraires offrent des témoignages contradictoires. Toutefois une perception de la variation linguistique par rapport à un standard externe (l'anglais britannique) et un standard interne (l'anglais américain) peut expliquer l'uniformité des commentaires en regard d'une diversité persistante. ZUSAMMENFASSUNG Trotz deutlich erkennbarer amerikanischer Dialekte, sprachen viele Besu-cher sowie die Einwohner des kolonialen und frühen foderativen Amerika von der Ausgewogenheit des amerikanischen Englisch, während andere auf Unter-schiede hinwiesen. Insgesamt gesehen, bieten die ublichen Beweisquellen wie orthoepische Schriften, grammatische Abhandlungen, phonetische Schreibun-gen, zeitgenössische journalistische Kommentare und literarische Dialekte, kei-ne entsprechenden Unterlagen. Ein Prinzip etwa der 'auffassungsfähigen Er-kennung' von Sprachvariationen im Verhältnis zu einem 'externen Standard' (i.e., dem britischen Englisch) und einem sich in der Entwicklung befindenden 'internen Standard' (dem amerikanischen Englisch) dürfte jedoch die Einfor-migkeit der Kommentare und Beobachtungen erklären, trotz der dialektalen Unterschiede, die zur damaligen Zeit wohl existierten.

Suprasegmentals are of paramount importance in spoken English. Yet, these pronunciation features are marginalised in EFL/ESL teaching-learning. This article deals with a study through reflective learning method and That aims to describe the increase in supramental english skill find out if the improvements achieved in the english pronounciation. Kemmis and Taggart’s model of action research was adopted. The study involved twenty-four undergraduate students at Muhammadiyah University of Purwokerto, Indonesia. The investigation contained two cycles, each of which comprised three sessions. Data were gathered through observation, recorded conversation, diary, interview, and test. Overall, the study has shown that reflective method using video integrated into communicative activities enhanced student involvement in learning the pronunciation of English suprasegmentals. Students got involved in monitoring and evaluating their own learning. In addition, a majority of the students gave positive response to the instruction. Level of pronunciation mastery rose sharply from only 4.16% of students passing the test in the pre-intervention (baseline) to 65.21% in first cycle, and 73.9% in second cycle. Most students’ pronunciation to some degree sounded “more English”.

The relation of english to other language-oriented departments, though dense with complexity, is rarely talked about in the open. One explanation for the lack of discussion may be the difficulty of framing a relation that is moving in two directions at once: while over the last generation or so English and the so-called foreign languages have come to resemble each other in substance, they have grown apart in material resources and institutional prestige. Many departments of English are more or less thriving, while departments of other languages and literatures in the same places are depleted and struggling. And yet, in the view of many of the people who determine our condition—administrators, legislators, and students—we are largely all of a piece; my problems will soon be yours, yours will be mine, and scholars and teachers of literature will find that they have far more joining than dividing them. To revive one of the rubrics of our New York University conference, we literary scholars are much better at collating the many ways we are different than identifying and leveraging the ways we are the same. How much does our declining influence in academy and society owe to an incapacity to come together and announce our identity when it matters? I take the position that we now have an ethical obligation to do what inclination and training have so badly prepared us for: to measure our sameness and difference on one scale and talk about what we can do together. How can people in English departments address this condition? What might those in other literature departments do? Having spent a career moving between these settings, I offer some reflections.

Ten years ago, in a job interview for a teaching post in a government school, The writer was asked: ‘Do you think the government should recruit more native English-speaking teachers so as to boost the English standard of Hong Kong students?’ My answer took the interviewers by surprise: ‘No, I think the money should be spent on training local teachers who are more able to understand the needs of students learning English as a second or foreign language. I believe good English doesn’t necessarily mean British or American English. If we see English as an international language, anyone capable of using it as an effective communication tool can potentially be a good English teacher.’ I got the job, but there are still a few questions in my mind.

SUMMARY This article is the first of a two-part study of the origins of African-American Vernacular English (AAVE). It examines the sociohistorical background to the emergence of AAVE with a view to establishing that this variety resulted initially from a process of language shift by African-Americans toward the white settler dialects of the colonial south during the 17th to 18th centuries. These dialects included southern and southwestern regional English, Northern English and Northern Hiberno English, especially Ulster Scots. Varieties of English spoken by earlier African-Americans in turn became the target of continuing shift by later generations and new arrivals. The evidence presented here refutes the traditional 'creolist' hypothesis that AAVE resulted from decreolization of a previously wide-spread Creole. At the same time, it argues that West African languages and creole varieties of English exerted a certain degree of substratum influence on AAVE, giving it much of its distinctive character. This part of the study concentrates on the demographics and contact settings of the southern colonies, particularly Virginia, the Carolinas and Georgia, to establish that the shift scenario proposed here is the most feasible explanation of AAVE origins. RÉSUMÉ Cet article est la premiere de deux parties d'une etude sur les origines de l'anglais vernaculaire des afrio-americains (AVAA). On y examine l'arriere-plan socio-historique de la naissance de l'AAVA, ce dans le but de demontrer que ce parler est d'abord ne lorsque les africo-americains ont appris les dialectes paries par les colons blancs dans le sud des États-Unis aux XVIIe et XVIIIe siecles. Parmi ces dialectes on trouvait l'anglais regional du sud et du sud-ouest de l'Angleterre, l'anglais septentrional d'Angleterre et d'Irlande, et plus particulairement l'anglo-ecossais d'Ulster. Ces varietes d'anglais qu'avaient acquis ces premieres generations d'africo-americains devinrent a leur tour la langue-cible qu'apprirent les generations suivantes et les esclaves nouvellement arrives. Les preuves presentees ici refutent l'hypothese 'creoliste' traditionnelle, selon laquelle l'AAVA serait ne de la 'decreolisation' d'un creole autrefois parle sur une vaste aire. En meme temps on soutient que les langues d'Afrique occidentale et divers Creoles anglais, comme langues de substrat, ont influences l'AAVA dans une certaine mesure, contribuant grandement a son aspect distinct. Er versucht nachzuweisen, da8 EEAA sich aus einem Prozeß der Sprachverschiebung bei den Afro-Ameri-kanern zu den Dialekten der Siedler des kolonialen Südens der Vereinigten Staaten wahrend die 17. und 18. Jahrhunderte ableite. Diese Dialekte enthal-ten Englisch des Siidens, Sudwestens und Nordens Englands wie auch Hiber-no-Englisch, ganz besonders das 'Ulster Scots'. Die Sprachverschiebung zum Englischen der fruhen Afro-Amerikaner setzte sich unter nachfolgenden Generationen und Neuankommlinge fort. In diesem Aufsatz wird die Hypo-these der Kreolisten widerlegt, derzufolge EEAA sich aus einem 'Entkreo-lisierungsprozess' entwickelt habe; statt dessen wird der Nachweis geführt, daß EEAA von Sprachen Westafrikas und einigen Varietaten von kreolisier-tem Englisch als Substatum beeinflußt wurde. Abstract:
This paper presents how an English teacher can use Google Apps for Education (GAFE) technology to enhance the quality of teaching writing in the context of teaching English for students in a higher education in Indonesia. This paper will briefly introduce some Google applications which can be used for (Engliah) teachers to enhance their teaching. It specifically reports a technology based teaching technique which has been practiced in a teacher education program in a university in Indonesia. It explores the prerequisite condition to use this application. This is followed by detailed stages of using this application, particularly in teaching writing: what teachers and students should do during the lesson. The explanation is enriched by a discussion on some possible challenges an English teacher or students may face in the field. The discussion is finally closed by proposing some suggestions on how to make use the technology and how to deal with the potential problems.

Abstract:
This research investigates English lecturers’ attitude toward the variation of English in the process of English learning. The purpose of this study is to discuss the types of English variations uttered by English lecturers who are considered as respondents in this study and their attitudes toward the variations of language that appear to their own speech during the teaching-learning process. This research is descriptive by using qualitative approach. The data to be presented in this research is taken from several words of Indonesian lecturers at several universities in Padang West Sumatra by distributing some questionnaires and also interviews. The method of data analysis is divided into two types, first, methods which related to the correlation of external language objects with a non-linguistic element called correlation method or method of matching, and secondly, methods which related to surgical, processing or internal verbal tampering called the method of operation or distribution method.
