Przygoda, Mathias. "Engagement écologique et travail réputationnel des jeunes de Youth For Climate." Electronic Thesis or Diss., Pau, 2024. http://www.theses.fr/2024PAUU1129.
Full textUsing a qualitative analysis of the Youth For Climate movement based on a corpus of semi-structured interviews and online observation, this work examines the contemporary experience of youthful ecological commitment. The prism of reputation was chosen, particularly in social networks, which are very important in the daily lives of these young people. At a time when the injunctions to make oneself (in)visible in order to exist are powerful, these young activists have to work on their reputation in terms of what they can and must expose about their commitment. Their knowledge of social networks enables them to develop different strategies, between revealing and concealing their ecological principles and committed practices. To do this, they have a range of heterogeneous spaces at their disposal, which means they have to work on and adapt their reputations. In the course of their experience with Youth For Climate, these phases of reputational work can give rise to tensions and dilemmas between different logics of action. Combining effectiveness for the movement, a good individual reputation, integration into the collective and coherence between ecological values and practices is not easy. For some young people, displaying their commitment can be risky in terms of their reputation, while for others, exposing it is a way of asserting themselves as autonomous individuals, of positioning themselves in the face of these tensions, or of assuming a virtuous ethic. The variety of these reflections on their commitment and reputation is often the sign of a complex and heterogeneous youth in search of autonomy. Identity issues are at the heart of these committed practices, enabling the young people studied to provide ontological responses to hypermodern questions and injunctions
Krastanova, Radosveta. "Les nouveaux mouvements sociaux : le cas du mouvement écologique en Bulgarie." Thesis, Dijon, 2015. http://www.theses.fr/2015DIJOD001/document.
Full textThis study examines the Green Movement in Bulgaria (1987-2014) as a typical and specific example of the New Social Movements. It focuses on the interconnection between environmentalism, politics and participation. We present the movement along with its evolution and analyse it on three levels: macro (through its relation to the most important contemporary issues, phenomena and processes); meso (in the national context during the past three generations); and micro (through the prism of individuals and their experience). Our general approach is interdisciplinary, combining qualitative, comparative and quantitative methods. Bulgaria’s green movement is a citizen and political movement of a new type. In the context of the New Social Movements, it is an actor of challenging the status quo; a moral corrective of the power, which implements a genuine ‘citizen environmental politics.’ Secondly, it introduces and fosters New Culture and New Politics based on a novel set of values, practices and behavioural models: one where the individual is essential. Thirdly, it is one of the pillars of Bulgarian civil society, a key factor in democratizing the socio-political life. Last but not least, it is a vehicle of an Eco-humanism originating in the specific environment that gave birth to the citizens’ movements in Eastern Europe under the totalitarian regimes and during the Democratic Transition. It also embodies a specific national attitude towards nature, traditionally stemming from peculiarities of Bulgarian culture

Full textThe attentional state of operators is one of the main reasons for errors during human control of complex systems, and controlling these errors is critical especially in aeronautics, where errors are directly linked to safety and lives might be at stake. In particular, excessively high or low task demands encountered during the operation of such systems result in varying levels of mental workload and engagement which are linked with the operator performance. This research project adopts a Neuroergonomics approach and investigates the use of brain measurement techniques to monitor the attentional state of the operator under ecological conditions. We studied the behavior of the operator under both excessively low and high task demands with the use of multiple physiological and neurophysiological measurement techniques. Our results show that it is possible to use such techniques to characterize the attentional state. We then analyze the potential of real time application for such techniques. We investigated signal processing and analysis tools to improve the real-time usability of brain signals in ecological conditions, and proposed solutions towards the development of brain computer interfaces for assisting the human operator

Full textMixing biographic approach and ethnographical survey, and combining habitus, institution and career, we analysed all the social, biographic and partisan logics which ctructure the commitment and the careers of the green activists. Redrawing their social trajectories since the creation of the party in 1984, we discovered the dominating presence of (ex)-Catholics and of several different generations from participants in the student and workers' protest movement of May 1968. In upward social mobility and often politicized very early, they share capacities in the asceticism and in the empathy with the active minorities which allow them to resist the hardness of the processes of ideologization and the partisan socialization. Forts of the restructuring of their habitus on the "minority" mode, the activists envisage as a political and social avant-garde ans claim to distinguish themselves in the space of the grips of political positions by embodying and ideal of "politics otherwise". They form a collective always renewed - but numerically constant - interested in the elaboration of an autonomous political offer and in the electoral competition. Acquiring or reconverting some ressources, they enter politics, by asserting most of the time some sectorial expertise, and develop and elaborate then the policies they are responsible for. But quickly confined in political and institutional "niches" in spite of a successful learning of the political job and a capacity to strategically play their various roles, they succeed generally only in remaining in the expensive status of (semi) professionals of the politics
Villain, Milo. "Les défenseurs de l'océan Atlantique : des écologistes sans frontières." Thesis, Pau, 2019. http://www.theses.fr/2019PAUU1074.
Full textBased on a comparative study, this thesis seeks to understand why some environmental activists have engaged in the defense of the Atlantic Ocean. In order to provide a better understanding of the reasons for their activism, the investigation, conducted in the southern Gulf of Biscay and the Northern Sea of Patagonia, tends to focus more specifically on the logics of action implemented by these “ocean environmentalists”. This work is thus structured to explore the environmentalists’subjectivity in order to identify their principal motivations to get involved, and to grasp their activist experience, while identifying certain representations of their relationship to the world and especially to the ocean

Full textThe object of this research is to understand the nature of the criticism expressed in environmental journalism and to examine how this journalistic domain can spread under an authoritarian regime leaning on the progress and the ideology of modernization to establish its legitimacy. Paradoxically, this journalism, which contains a high critical potential regarding the economic growth promoted by the PCC, arose from an internal impulse within the administration and the Party since the 1970’s-1980’s. This origin sheds a constant doubt on the final end of this criticism and it exposes the journalists to the accusation of helping the Party by denouncing local abuses. Through a historic and sociological study of the practice of environmental journalists and their questioning of their own activity, I analyze how they deal with the tension inherent to a criticism that can never take place in complete exteriority to a system of power prone to silence them at any time. If this criticism is limited by the conditions of its exercise, I argue that it contains nevertheless a real power of change. I try to bring to light the evolution of how the various actors (journalists, officials, associations) contribute to the preservation of the system while trying to destabilize it in their own interest. I show that the search for empowerment of environmental journalism led at first to the emergence of militant journalism, then, in reaction, in the assertion of a form of professionalization which values the model of objective experts, which complicates the relationship to their own practice and makes their commitment difficult. Yet, it remains one of their deepest aspiration

Full textOn the basis of an in-depth analysis of the Accor group c ase, the purpose of this research is to study with focus the factors influencing the application of the global environmental policies defined by a parent company among affiliated hotels in multinational groups. Even though the parent company deploys an identical environmental policy around the world, results show that not all affiliated hotels respond in the same way to the parent company directives. Furthermore, we have been able to observe differences in environmental behaviour not only between hotels located in different countries but also in the hotels of the same country. Such an heterogeneity can be attributed partially to particularities of the local context in which the affiliated hotels are located. In addition, to previous institutional factors - whether it was from a corporate or local based - the specific characteristics of each hotel are also likely to influence its environmental behavior

Bennour, Nabila. "L'engagement disciplinaire productif des élèves dans l'action didactique conjointe en gymnatisque : études de cas dans deux établissements contrastés en Tunisie." Thesis, Toulouse 2, 2014. http://www.theses.fr/2014TOU20022/document.
Full textThis PhD dissertation aims to theoretically refine the studying of student’s actions within the didactic joint action. The research describes the conditions of students’ productive disciplinary engagement in the teaching of gymnastics in Tunisia. It calls attention to how the breaches of didactic contract initiated by students may participate in knowledge progression is the classroom and how students contribute to situated didactic process. Students’ engagement was investigated within the didactic joint action theoretical framework in conjunction with two other Anglo-Saxon’s frameworks: ‘Classroom ecology’ and ‘Productive disciplinary engagement’. The data were collected through classroom ethnographic observations using video recording and teacher’s interviews during two gymnastic units conducted by two female teachers. The study was conducted in two steps: a macro analysis of students’ cooperation during three lessons of each unit, and a micro-didactic analysis which focused on student’s actions during significant episodes of task transformations. The findings characterize in depth the conditions under which students teach themselves through modifications of the didactic milieu (mesogenesis). The comparison of the two teachers’ teaching practices, one in a public high school and the other in a private high school, points out generic patterns linked to a specific topogenetic process that enrolls students in a productive disciplinary engagement

Full textThis thesis deals with the forms of adherence to the discourse on « Cultural Creatives », grasped as a strap of dogmatic transmission of « green capitalism ». At the crossroads of sociology of commitment, ecology and the study of beliefs, the thesis first traces social construction within the social configuration of « green capitalism », of reformist entrepreneurial movement. Appearing in the early 1990s, this movement is engaged in a work of interweaving between New Age values and other ecologies specific to the economic field. In a second phase, the field survey, which is based on the production of biographical interviews with a cast committed to the dissemination of this discourse, shows how the putting into practice of this ideology is the subject of positioning a continuum going from an area of belief to a utilitarian one, resulting in ultimate heterogeneous socialisations
Diouf, Abdourahmane. "Esthétique, politique et éthique : la création littéraire dans l’œuvre romanesque de John Steinbeck." Thesis, Le Mans, 2020. http://www.theses.fr/2020LEMA3008.
Full textJohn Steinbeck’s works cannot be reduced to a strict aesthetic or ideological categorization. They are often studied at the crossroads of colourful styles that intermingle and clash, in order to grasp the substratum of the work behind its varieties. The challenge of this thesis is to study the link between aesthetics, politics and ethics, starting not from the writer's political positions but from the works themselves, in order to analyze the ways in which these notions can be dynamically and progressively highlighted as the work unfolds over four decades. Moving from the lyrical and picaresque novel to the social novel (particularly Tortilla Flat and the Dust Bowl Novels trilogy: In Dubious Battle, Of Mice and Men and The Grapes of Wrath), John Steinbeck makes it possible for a political critique to be constructed in his work based on a questioning of the linearity of narrative discourse. Like the form of the discourse, the narrative “content” conveys and develops a political vision that substitutes for the American Dream and its utopian “Melting Pot” a more realistic sociopolitical structure in which one perceives “two opposing classes”, by virtue of the system of capitalist domination. Steinbeck reworked the novel genre to develop a providential, humanist and anti-capitalist vision. By testing the notions of plot, protagonist (or “hero”) and temporality, he placed this political critique at the very heart of the writing process, inviting readers to take a fresh look at his more “political” works of the 1930s and 1950s, and at the links between modernism, political engagement and ecology. Although some of his works are radically contested, he has made constant use of the myth of origins. This recourse to the mythical thoughts of the founding American texts acts as a hyphen allowing him to deconstruct literarily the dominant political discourses of his society
