Abstract:

Im März 2011 ist dem Stadtgeschichtlichen Museum Leipzig eine der wohl größten Privatsammlungen zu Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy übergeben worden – die Sammlung des ehemaligen Leiters der Musikabteilung der Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin Dr. Rudolf Elvers. Der 1924 geborene und in Berlin lebende Musikwissenschaftler war ein leidenschaftlicher und talentierter Sammler; er hat über Jahrzehnte hinweg als Privatmensch rund 480 Bücher, 500 Notendrucke und etwa 380 Autographen von und zu Mendelssohn systematisch und mit großem Geschick zusammengetragen. Dass dieser Bestand nun in Leipzig ist, darf als Glücksfall für die Musikstadt gesehen werden.

Abstract:

Syftet med vårt examensarbete var att ta reda på hur ett processinriktat arbetssätt utvecklar elevens lärande och vad olika kunskapsbegrepp innebär för elevens kunskapsutveckling. Vi ville undersöka hur det processinriktade arbetssätet tillämpas i slöjden kontra ett mer teoretisk uppfattat ämne för att kunna se om där fanns någon skillnad i arbetssätt. Vi har valt i vår undersökning att använd oss av slöjden som utgångspunkt för att se hur slöjden med sitt processinriktade arbetssätt, slöjdprocessen, kan bidra till diskussionen om vad viktig kunskap är idag. Metoder som har använts i vår studie är litteraturstudier och enkätundersökningar där vi vänt oss till lärare i ämnena slöjd och svenska i grundskolans senare del och elever i åk 8 och åk 9 för att se vilka skillnader som finns i synen på hur det processinriktade arbetssättet används i olika undervisningssammanhang. De resultat som vi fick fram visade att det skiljde sig mellan hur det processinriktade arbetssättet används i slöjd och i ämnet svenska. De visade sig att lärarna i slöjden i större utsträckning använde sig av formativ bedömning där man såg till hela lärandeprocessen medan lärarna i ämnet svenska använde sig av den summativa bedömningen, där fokusen mer låg på det färdiga resultatet. Resultaten från elevenkäterna visade på samma resultat. Eleverna menade att man i större utsträckning fick möjlighet till inflytande, ansvarstagande och reflektion i ämnet slöjd än vad man ansåg sig få i ämnet svenska. Däremot var lärarkommentarer efter avslutat arbete vanligare i ämnet svenska än i ämnet slöjd, vilket belyser den summativa bedömningens inriktning. Det som också våra resultat visade är att det processinriktade arbetssättet ökar elevens ansvarstagande över det egna lärandet och där den formativa bedömningen som lärarna gör är en viktig del i elevens kunskapsutveckling, där läraren följer hela elevens lärandeprocess, från idé till färdig produkt. Av analysen framgår att det processinriktade arbetssättet förutsätter ett nära samspel mellan lärare och elev, där en kontinuerlig återkoppling sker av elevens kunskap. Genom det processinriktade arbetssättet får eleven en större tilltro till sin egen förmåga och en självinsikt över sitt eget lärande.

Abstract:

Anguilla australis glass eels proved to be resilient and present strong aquaculture potential. General husbandry techniques, anaesthesia and prophylactic treatments were established for glass eels between 0.1 g and 2.0 g and elvers between 2.0 g and 8.0 g, caught in rivers and estuaries along the South East Coast of Victoria. The protozoan parasites Ichthyobodo and Trichodina were found to be present on arrival to the hatchery developed during different rearing treatments, and were successfully eradicated. A. australis glass eels accepted artificial food, but it was recommended first be fed a preweaning diet of minced fish flesh. A weaning regime from minced fish flesh to commercially available eel grower mash, over 15 days was established. Growth rate proved to be highly variable, both between and within groups. The highest growth rate of 2.71%/day was found when the natural diet of minced fish and Artemia was fed. The maximum growth rate when reared on an artificial diet of 1.63%/day was observed at 25°C. Growth was affected by the presence or absence of a preweaning diet, weaning diet, weaning period, temperature, but not by size or density. Once weaned, glass eels were found to perform better on commercially available grower mash than on the minced fish flesh, which was used to aid in weaning them to artificial diets. Of the water quality parameters measured stocking density was found to affect pH, Total Ammonia Nitrogen, Total Phosphorus, and Dissolved Oxygen, through not to an extent which affected growth.

Abstract:

Detta examensarbetet handlar om hur elever äter vid frukost och skollunch och vad följder blir om de inte äter ordentligt vid dessa måltider. Syftet med arbetet är att se om frukost och skollunch har någon betydelse för hur elever presterar i grundskolan.

Genom enkätundersökningar har 84 elever svarat på frågor som bl a berör vad de äter. Den teoretiska delen tar bl a upp vad vi behöver för att orka, frukostens och skollunchens betydelse och orsaker till att elever äter dåligt vid frukost och lunch.

Resultatet av denna undersökning visar, liksom tidigare forskning, att det är viktigt att äta frukost och skollunch om eleverna ska orka med skolarbetet, d v s kunna koncentrera sig, vara kreativ och inte tappa humöret.

Diskussionen tar bl a upp kommentarer till enkätundersökningen och skolfrukostens intåg i skolan.

Abstract:

Glass eels of the European eel migrate from coastal waters inland to freshwater as part of the catadromous lifecycle. The osmotic challenge faced at this time is augmented by their large surface area to volume ratio, and by the fact that the migration may only be completed after several attempts, due to the effects of tide and river flow. Glass eels and elvers developed normally when maintained in waters of differing salinity over a six month period. Drinking rates increased with environmental acclimation salinity (from 0.072 +/- 0.023 mul/g/h to 0.698 +/- 0.099 mul/g/h in FW and SW respectively), and freshwater acclimated fish exhibited a rapid drinking response upon contact with seawater. These accounts of dipsogenic behaviour are similar to those previously reported for adult eels. Results obtained from determinations of branchial Na+K+ATPase activities were more equivocal. Only after nearly five months were activities higher in SW (508.52 +/- 99.76 nmoles/Spairs gills/h) as compared to FW fish (151.65 +/- 8.9 nmoles/5pairs gills/h). Following the transfer of FW acclimated fish to SW there was a trend towards increased Na+K+ATPase activity after seven days post-transfer, which reached a significant peak after two months post-transfer. A transient increase in whole body cortisol content was noted following the transfer of fish from freshwater (388.02 + 90.38 pg/g) to seawater (6268.44 +/- 773.14 pg/g). However, it was not possible to ascertain that this was due to a direct effect of environmental salinity change. There were no clear changes in interrenal cell morphology between salinity groups, although the cells did appear reduced in size with time, regardless of environmental salinity. Total body Na+ content increased with time, and was higher in SW (58.66 +/- 1.66 mumoles/g) as compared to FW reared fish (44.85 +/-1.01 mumoles/g).

Abstract:

Att utveckla elevernas delaktighet var ett prioriterat mål i arbetet inom grundsärskolan men den allmänna uppfattningen bland pedagogerna gjorde att diskussionerna gärna stannade i tankar som att “eleverna får välja om de vill ha röd eller blå penna” och “de får välja vilken sida de ska börja med”. Eftersom pedagogerna upplevde att diskussionerna inte kom längre, började vi leta material som kunde stärka diskussionerna och utveckla tänkande. Vi bestämde oss för att använda Szönyi och Södergvist Dunkers (2015) delaktighetsmodell som bygger på sex delaktighetsaspekter. Syftet med vår studie var sedan att ta reda på hur pedagoger i grundsärskolan, utifrån modellens sex aspekter, skapar delaktighet genom sin planering av undervisningen. Vi ville veta vilka hinder och möjligheter som finns för elevernas delaktighet, samt hur pedagogerna gör för att eleverna ska förstå att de är delaktiga. Studien bygger på kvalitativa intervjuer med sex pedagoger som arbetar på en grundsärskola. Resultatet från studien visar att delaktighetsbegreppet är väl förankrat hos pedagogerna. Genom struktur, tydlighet och ett ständigt pågående arbete med anpassningar för den enskilde eleven ges det möjligheter till delaktighet utifrån var och ens förmåga. Med stöd av de olika delaktighetsaspekterna upplevde vi att det i vår studie blev lättare att synliggöra vilka olika sätt pedagoger arbetar för delaktighet. I studien tycker vi oss se att samtliga pedagoger arbetar för att skapa ett tillåtande klassrumsklimat där det ständigt poängteras att alla är olika och behöver lära på olika sätt. Studien gav oss även insikt i svårigheter för delaktighet. Elevens funktionshinder i sig kan vara en utmaning för att skapa delaktighet och elever med utåtagerande beteende ställer den pedagogiska kompetensen på sin spets och kan komplicera möjligheten att hitta tillfällen till delaktighet med övriga elever. Elever som inte känner att grundsärskolan är rätt skolform för dem är en annan stor pedagogisk utmaning vad gäller delaktighet. Studien har gett insikt om att ett gemensamt språk och kartläggning av när delaktighet syns i verksamheten, ökar möjligheterna till att gemensamt hitta förbättringsområden som kan gynna verksamheten och framförallt eleverna.

Abstract:

Då svårigheter med att förstå innehåll i text är ett vanligare problem än avkodningssvårigheter efter den första läsinlärningen, är det intressant att undersöka hur läsförståelseundervisningen är utformad för att stärka och stödja elevers läsförståelseutveckling. Syftet med studien är att undersöka hur lärare i årskurs 4 – 6 väljer ut texter och undervisar i läsförståelse för att stärka de elever som kämpar med sin läsförståelse. Studien har inspirerats av en fenomenografisk metodansats. Datainsamlingen skedde genom kvalitativa semistrukturerade intervjuer med fem lärare som undervisar i årskurs 4 – 6. Vidare har studien ett sociokulturellt perspektiv som teoretisk utgångspunkt. Resultatet visar att läsförståelseundervisningen till stor del är integrerad i andra ämnen utöver ämnet svenska. I svenskämnet kretsar undervisningen i läsförståelse i huvudsak kring reciproka lässtrategier som sedan överförs till övrig ämnesundervisning. De vanligaste texterna i läsförståelseundervisningen är skönlitterära texter i svenskämnet och läromedelstexter i SO- och NO- ämnena. Centralt oavsett ämne är att lära genom samtal tillsammans med andra. Samtalet beskrivs också som ett av de viktigaste redskapen för att stärka elevers läsförståelse. Vidare visar resultatet att läsförståelseundervisningen riktas mot en mer ytlig förståelse. Slutsatsen är att det saknas kunskap om hur en undervisning och ett stöd som syftar till en djupare läsförståelse kan se ut, vilket visar på ett behov av en kompetensutveckling inom området.

O presente estudo centra-se na leitura de elementos que evidenciam a presença romana no atual concelho de Elvas. Neste prisma, procedemos à análise das fontes epigráficas conhecidas até ao momento, enquanto elementos fidedignos que nos permitem aceder a um conjunto de indicadores (diretos e indiretos) referentes ao contexto sociocultural subjacente à sociedade romana que deixou marcas da sua presença no marcador territorial escolhido. Um território peculiar e estratégico, delimitado pelos afluentes do rio Caia e Guadiana, pelos solos férteis e pela passagem dos três itinerários (vias XII, XIV e XV) que estabeleciam a ligação de Olisipo à capital provincial, Augusta Emerita. Atendendo a que a maioria destes testemunhos epigráficos integram atualmente a coleção de arqueologia do antigo Museu Arqueológico e Etnográfico de Elvas António Thomaz Pires, encerrado ao público desde 2004, tornou-se fundamental documentar o percurso daqueles elementos, bem como os diferentes ciclos de investigação e as personalidades que contribuíram para o panorama da arqueologia elvense e da constituição do Museu que acolheu as fontes epigráficas em estudo entre os finais do século XIX e meados do século XX; Elements of the Roman presence in the present county territory of Elvas: Contributions to the portrait of a society ABSTRACT: The present study focuses on reading elements that evidence the Roman presence in the present county of Elvas. In this perspective, we proceed to the analysis of the epigraphic sources known up to now, as reliable elements that allow us to access a set of indicators (direct and indirect ones) referring to the sociocultural context underlying the Roman society that left marks of its presence in the chosen territorial marker. A peculiar and strategic territory, bounded by the tributaries of the Caia and Guadiana rivers, by the fertile soils and by the passage of three itineraries (routes XII, XIV and XV) that established the connection from Olisipo to the provincial capital, Augusta Emerita. As most of these epigraphic testimonies currently belong to the archeological collection of the former Museu de Arqueologia e Etnografia de Elvas António Thomaz Pires, closed to the public since 2004, it has become fundamental to document the course of those elements, as well as the different cycles of investigation and the personalities who contributed to the Elvas archeology panorama and the constitution of the Museum that hosted the epigraphic sources between the late nineteenth and middle twentieth century.

Abstract:

This thesis is an analysis and literary history of the human-sized elf as a Significant Other. It argues that this character is in direct relation to humans while also situated beyond the boundaries of what is human, familiar, and same, and acts as a supernatural double that defines these boundaries. The first chapter relates the origin of the word elf and the creature's characteristics in the Germanic regions of Europe. Chapter 2 discusses similar beings in Celtic sources and the establishment of a realm in which they dwell. The development of Faerie, primarily in French sources, is further examined in Chapter 3. Chapter 4 scrutinises the application of the words elf and fairy to a diminutive being, here referred to as the Insignificant Other. Chapter 5 assesses the demise of the diminutive being and re-establishment of the human-sized elf. Because of his paramount influence, the central section of the thesis (chapters 6-9) is devoted to the Elves of J. R. R. Tolkien. This section begins by analysing the descriptions of Tolkien's Elves in order to evaluate his debt to earlier traditions. Chapter 7 assesses the status of Elves in Middle-Earth, while chapter 8 scrutinises the presentation of gender. Chapter 9 discusses the Dark-Elves and their place in Tolkien's developing ideas about Elves. The final section examines Tolkien's influence and the current status of the elf. Chapter 10 focuses on four recent narratives that identify human-sized fairies in comics and film. Chapter 12 investigates the popularity of the Tolkienian elf in modern Fantasy fiction, while the final chapter locates the elf as Significant Other in contemporary popular culture and media.

It focuses on Anglo-Saxon culture, contextualising Anglo-Saxon material with analyses of Middle English, Older Scots, Scandinavian and Irish texts. We lack Anglo-Saxon narratives about elves (ælfe, singular ælf), but the word ælf itself is well-attested in Old English texts. By analysing these attestations, it is possible to discover much about the meanings of the word ælf— from which, I argue, it is possible to infer what ælfe were believed to be and to do, and how these beliefs changed over time. Using methodologies inspired by linguistic anthropology (discussed in Chapter 1), I develop these analyses to reconstruct the changing significances of non-Christian beliefs in medieval English-speaking societies, affording new perspectives on Christianisation, health and healing, and group identity, particularly gendering. The body of the thesis, chapters 2–9, is in three parts. Because of its historiographical prominence in discussions of Anglo-Saxon non-Christian beliefs, I begin in Chapter 2 by reassessing Scandinavian comparative evidence for elf-beliefs. I also show that it is possible to correlate the meanings of Old Norse words for supernatural beings with other Scandinavian mythological sources for world-views, providing a case-study supporting similar approaches to Anglo-Saxon evidence. Chapters 3–6 reassess Anglo-Saxon linguistic and textual evidence, tackling in turn prehistoric naming patterns and morphological developments, poetry, glosses, and medical texts. The long-standing assumption that ælfe were incorporeal, small and arrowshooting proves to be both unfounded and implausible. Traditionally, ælfe were conceptually similar both to gods and to human ethnic others, all of whom were opposed to monsters in Anglo-Saxon world-views. They were probably only male. In textual evidence, ælfe are paradigmatic examples of dangerously seductive beauty and they are possible causes of prophetic speech and certain kinds of ailments. They inflicted ailments at least at times by a variety of magic called siden, cognate with the much-discussed medieval Scandinavian magic seiðr. Both of these points associate ælfe with femininegendered traits, and I show that by the eleventh century, ælf could also denote otherworldly, nymph-like females. These otherworldly females seem to have been new arrivals in Anglo-Saxon belief-systems. Demonisation is clearly attested from around 800, but ælfe were not conflated with demons in all or even most discourses, even after the Old English period. Chapters 7–9 develop this core evidence to argue for the cultural significance of the beliefs it reveals. By adducing comparative texts from medieval Ireland and Scandinavia and from the early modern Scottish witchcraft trials, Chapter 7 shows how the characteristics of ælf in Old English could occur together in coherent, ideologically significant narratives. Chapter 8 considers the Old English charm Wið færstice in a similar comparative context, focusing on the trial of Issobel Gowdie for witchcraft in 1662, and considering the importance of elf-beliefs in Anglo-Saxon healing. These chapters emphasise cultural continuity in North West European beliefs, questioning inherited scholarly constructions of fairy-beliefs as distinctively ‘Celtic’, and showing striking continuities between Anglo-Saxon and early modern Scottish beliefs. Chapter 9 concludes by combining earlier findings to make new assessments of Anglo-Saxon Christianisation and constructions of group identity, danger and power, and gendering. I examine gender in particular, combining evidence from throughout the thesis with comparative textual and archaeological material to argue that mythological gender transgressions were important to early Anglo-Saxon gendering. Beliefs in effeminate ælfe helped to demarcate gender norms, but also provided a paradigm whereby men could in real life gain supernatural power through gender transgression. I link the subsequent rise of female ælfe to changes in Anglo-Saxon gendering, whereby gender roles were enforced with increasing strictness. By combining detailed linguistic and textual analyses in a suitable comparative context, I reconstruct aspects of non-Christian belief which are marginalized in our early medieval sources, and detect how they changed over time. Such beliefs illuminate various aspects of medieval culture, including social identity, health and healing, the sources and use of supernatural power, and Christianisation. My methods, meanwhile, provide paradigms for taking similar approaches to studying belief and ideology in other areas of medieval Europe.

Abstract:

The focus of this thesis is the supernatural ballads of northern Europe and, in particular, how we can understand a society through its literature. I take as my initial focus the ballads of Denmark (Chapters 2, 4, 5, 6), where supernatural beings of the elf-type are common, before proceeding to the wider northern-European context of Sweden (Chapters 3, 4, 5, 6), Iceland (Chapter 3 and 6), Germany (Chapter 3) and Scotland (Chapters 3 and 7), ranging from the earliest extant text of 1550 through to the nineteenth century to examine synchronic and diachronic changes and what they reveal of the cultures which produced them. This study considers the ballad as pleasing and satisfying literature which does not exist in a cultural or historical vacuum. Close, comparative reading of the texts moves us towards an understanding of how the supernatural was used as a vehicle for considering identity and man’s place in the world. The study analyses the recurring use of the supernatural ballads to establish social and national identities and to express ideologies concerned with gender and patriarchy. The supernatural ballads demand that we look critically at our attitudes, perspectives, and assumptions. As well as examining the main concerns and motifs of the ballad versions, the thesis seeks to problematize our initial assumptions by re-examining the traditional readings and by looking at examples of non-traditional versions. Responses to the ballad stories from both high and low culture serve as a lens through which to analyse the ballads, so Virgil’s consideration of the tale of Orpheus and Eurydice is examined along with Ibsen’s own dramatic version of the Agnete story, and Matthew Arnold’s poem on the same text. This thesis also seeks to examine in what ways women are characterized in terms of their relation to men in a genre largely transmitted by women, in the early ballad and in the nineteenth century, to examine tentatively if there is evidence of women seizing the narrative in order to disrupt the dominant discourse.

I denne oppgaven har det blitt utført kartlegging av innhold av elementer og oppløst organisk karbon (DOC) i elvevann og skum i Bayelva og Londonelva, to arktiske elver med utløp i Kongsfjorden på Svalbard. Andre viktige parametere som pH, redokspotensiale, ledningsevne og temperatur har også blitt målt. Filtrerte (0,45 µm) og ufiltrerte vannprøver har blitt prøvetatt manuelt, samt med DGT (diffusjonsgradienter i tynne filmer), og analysert med HR-ICP-MS. Det ble funnet generelt lave konsentrasjoner av oppløste sporelementer i elvevannet i både Bayelva og Londonelva, og konsentrasjonene var under grenseverdier fra norske myndigheter for metaller i ferskvann. Det er forskjeller på elementkonsentrasjoner innad i elvene, og innholdet er høyere for de aller fleste elementer i Bayelva sammenliknet med Londonelva. Forskjellene i konsentrasjoner i de to elvene kan forklares av ulik geologi og hydrologi i de to nedbørsfeltene. DGT-ene ser ut til å ha blitt kontaminert. Innhold av oppløst organisk materiale er lavt, men detekterbart i begge elver. SUVA254 indikerer at det organiske materialet har hovedsaklig aromatisk karakter. Estimat for årlig tilførsel av oppløste metaller til Kongsfjorden har blitt regnet ut. Skumprøver inneholdt betydelige konsentrasjoner av DOC og elementer, og en oppkonsentrering av metaller i forhold til elvevannet er tydelig i både Bayelva og Londonelva. Høyest oppkonsentrering ble funnet for Pb, Zn og Cu. Signifikante positive korrelasjoner ble funnet mellom Fe og Mn og Fe og Al i vannprøver fra Bayelva, samt mellom Fe og Pb i to av prøvepunktene. I Londonelva ble det funnet signifikant positiv korrelasjon mellom Fe og Pb, i tillegg til en negativ relasjon mellom Al og As. Korrelasjoner mellom metaller er en indikasjon på at disse metallene har felles kilde og/eller transportmekanismer. Tydelige signifikante positive korrelasjoner ble funnet for Mn, Cu og Pb mot DOC i vannprøver fra Londonelva, og for Mn, As, U og hardhet mot DOC i skumprøver fra Bayelva. Det ble funnet dagsvariasjoner i elementkonsentrasjoner og ulike måleparametere i de to elvene, men variasjonene er mindre tydelig i Londonelva. In the novel Elvis Plays Texas, which is my Thesis project to meet the requirements for a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing/Fiction, a little town in far, far West Texas and its people are having a very difficult time and facing what promises to be a bleak future—a long, long drought has exhausted their water supply, oil has peaked and turned down, “fracking” threatens their way of life, friends and family and neighbors are loading up and leaving town. Then, Elvis Presley shows up. It’s the 40th anniversary of the day he died, August 16, 1977, and he, spiritually though appearing in every way to be flesh and blood, is visiting those who’ve continued believing in him and to whom he had been particularly important during their younger lives. My own long history in that part of the country has played its considerable role in informing the setting, the tone, the atmosphere. These are the kinds of characters—strange birds all—I grew up with. The country is the southwestern desert, hot, dry, empty, big sky—the kind of neighborhood that lends itself to oddities like Elvis throwing a benefit concert to help them out of the economic ditch.

På uppdrag av Vätterbygdens Rehabcenter och Högskolan i Skövde har en konceptuell design tagits framför ett elverk som drivs av kroppsenergi och är avsett för bruk i fältmässig miljö. Ett koncept har genererats,valts och utvecklats, varpå dimensionerande beräkningar och materialval för vitala detaljer harskett. Som hjälpmedel för dessa beräkningar har CAD-mjukvaran Pro/Engineer Wildfire 5.0 och dessapplikation Mechanica Structure använts. Andra verktyg har varit användarstudie, framtagande av målspecifikationer,Black Box, morfologisk tabell, Pughs konceptvalsmatris och viktad konceptvalsmatris.Elverket är tänkt att användas i samband med biståndsinsatser i katastrofområden där kontakten medelnätet är bruten och fossila bränslen ej finns att tillgå. I sådana situationer kan elverket vara ett gottkomplement till solceller och små vindkraftverk då elektricitetsgenereringen annars blir beroende avgoda sol- och vindförhållanden.Elverkets funktionsprincip liknar den hos träningsredskapet roddmaskin. Användaren utför en växlandedragande rörelse, fastspänd på en rörlig sits och hållandes ett handtag. En spiralfjäder underlättar återgångentill ursprungsläget. Rörelsen upprepas ca 25 gånger per minut. Från handtaget löper en vajer tillen rulle, vilken är monterad på en drivaxel. Drivaxeln ansluter till en planetväxellåda med ett frihjul sommellansteg. Planetväxellådan växlar upp den genomsnittliga varvfrekvensen 25 gånger, från 60 rotationerper minut till 1500 rotationer per minut, och ett svänghjul tillser att varvfrekvensvariationen är acceptabel.En synkrongenerator med fyra poler drivs av momentet och ström genereras, vilken i sin turfrekvensomriktas till 50 Hz.Enligt J. Carlstedts bok "Tester för idrottare" från 1995 finns en gräns för arbetsbelastning vars överskridandemedför en kraftig acceleration av ökningen av blodets mjölksyrehalt, med snabb utmattningsom följd. Denna gräns kallas för mjölksyratröskeln och är belägen där individens syreupptag når 70-90% av det maximala (VO2max) beroende på träningsgrad. Studien ”Stroke Power Consistency and 2000 mrowing performance in varsity rowers”, utförd 2007 av Shimoda et al., redovisar en syreupptagningsförmågaom VO2max = 4,1 ± 0,4 l/min hos universitetsrorsmän i 20 årsåldern, vilken utnyttjas till fullo vidarbetsbelastningar överskridandes 300 W. Då 200 W är den arbetsbelastning som enligt studien motsvarar70 % av VO2max har detta bedömts vara den uthålliga effekt en användare av elverket kan förväntasleverera.En passande diameter har bestämts för den kraftöverförande vajern, tillsammans med dimensionerna förden rulle denna skall upplindas på. Beräkningar har också gjorts angående vilka kuggtal som hos planetväxellådanskugghjul är lämpliga, samt vilket tröghetsmoment svänghjulet bör ha. Ett specifikt sfärisktkullager med klämhylsa, SKF 1206 EKTN9, har valts för lagring av elverkets drivaxel.Vidare har konstruktionsmaterial och dimensioner bestämts för rulle, svänghjul, fotstöd och bärandestruktur samt delar av sitsen, baserat på underlag från analyser i Mechanica Structure. Slutligen har tvåbilder som visar elverkets komponenter och ett förslag för dess utseende renderats.Med en generator som vid 200 W belastning har verkningsgraden η = 0,86 och en växellåda med verkningsgradη = 0,94 återstår 160 W av användarens förväntade effekt innan ännu okända friktionsförlusterdragits av. Elverket kan därför inte konkurrera med bensin- och dieseldrivna elverk vad gäller produceradeffekt. Den största konkurrensfördelen är istället att elektricitet kan produceras oavsett tid på dygnet,väderförhållande eller tillgång till bränsle, så länge tillräcklig arbetskraft finns att tillgå.Åtskilligt arbete återstår innan en prototyp av elverket kan börja tillverkas. Det rekommenderas att defrån användarstudien framtagna kundkraven och satta målspecifikationerna också nyttjas vid eventuelltfortsatt arbete.
A conceptual design for a generating set, driven by muscle power and intended for use in a field-rateenvironment, has been developed at the request of the rehabilitation-center of Vätterbygden and Universityof Skövde. A concept has been generated and chosen, and dimensioning calculations and choice ofmaterials for vital parts has been performed, partly using the CAD-software Pro/Engineer Wildfire 5.0and its application Mechanica Structure. Other tools used in the process include identification of customerneeds, generation of target specifications, Black box, Morphological tables, Pugh’s matrix for choiceof concepts and weighted matrix for choice of concepts.The generating set's purpose is to be used in emergency relief activities when the local power grid isdown and there are no fossil fuels at hand. In such situations the generating set may be seen as a powerfulcompliment to solar and wind power, since it makes the power supply independent of wind and solarconditions.The operating principle of the generating set is partly that of a rowing ergometer. The user applies analternating pull, belted to a mobile seat and holding a handle-bar. The users return to start position iseased by a spiral spring. This motion is repeated about 25 times each minute. A steel wire rope runs fromthe handle to a reel which in turn is mounted on a driveshaft. The driveshaft is through a free-wheel connectedto a planetary gearbox, shifting the average rotational speed from 60 rotations per minute to1500. A flywheel decreases the variation in rotational speed, before a synchronous generator with fourpoles is driven by the remaining torque. The frequency of the generated power is lastly adjusted to 50 Hzusing a frequency converter.According to the 1995 J. Carlstedt book "Tester för idrottare", the lactic acid threshold limits the workloada person can endure without rapid fatigue. This limit is exceeded when the oxygen absorption of theindividual hits 70-90 % of capacity (VO2max), depending on the level of fitness. The study ”Stroke PowerConsistency and 2000 m rowing performance in varsity rowers”, conducted by Shimoda et al. in 2007,concludes that varsity rowers can achieve a maximum oxygen absorption of VO2max = 4,1 ± 0,4 l/min at arowing workload of 300 Watts. Based on the workload in this study corresponding to 70 % of VO2maxbeing 200 Watts, this magnitude of power was judged as the endurable workload a user of the generatingset could be expected to supply.The required diameter of the steel wire rope and dimensions for the wire reel has been settled. The appropriatenumber of teeth for the planetary gearbox’s cog-wheels has been calculated, as well as themoment of inertia for the flywheel. A specific self-aligning ball-bearing with an adapter sleeve, SKF 1206EKTN9, has been chosen for use at the driveshaft of the generating set. Furthermore, materials and dimensionshave been determined for the wire reel, the flywheel, footrests, load-bearing structure and partsof the seat through the use of analyses in Mechanica Structure. Lastly, two images showing the functionand parts of the generating set have been rendered.With a degree of efficiency when operating at a 200 W workload of η = 0.86 for the generator and η =0.94 for the planetary gearbox, 160 W remains before any currently unknown frictional losses has beensubtracted. Hence, this generating set is unable to compete with generating sets driven by diesel andgasoline in regard of capacity. The main advantage of the generating set is instead the ability to generatepower regardless of time of day, weather-conditions or fuel-access, as long as there’s an individualavailable for powering it.The development of the generating set is still very much a work in progress. It is recommended that theidentified customer needs and set target specifications are continuously regarded during possible proceededdevelopment.

Elvis Gratton est sans doute l’une des figures les mieux connues du cinéma québécois. Pourtant, ce succès tient du malentendu. En effet, si le cinéaste Pierre Falardeau et son complice Julien Poulin ont créé ce personnage en guise de réponse au référendum de 1980, afin de dénoncer par l’entremise d’une caricature ceux qu’ils tenaient pour responsables de l’échec référendaire, la charge critique derrière le « cycle Gratton » semble être passée inaperçue dès le départ. Cette thèse cherchera à replacer les films consacrés à ce personnage tant dans leur contexte sociopolitique que dans l’ensemble de l’œuvre de Pierre Falardeau. En analysant comment le personnage devait être au départ la caricature du Québécois « colonisé », à la lumière des théories de la décolonisation qui étaient chères à Pierre Falardeau, nous verrons aussi comment Gratton aura, semble-t-il, « échappé au contrôle de ses créateurs », selon les théories de Pierre Bayard. Mais surtout, une fois ce constat établi, nous chercherons à comprendre le succès des Gratton. C’est à l’aide du concept de la « fatigue culturelle du Canada français » tel qu’élaboré par Hubert Aquin, de même qu’avec les théories du sociologue Joseph Yvon Thériault au sujet du « désir d’être grand » des « petites sociétés », que nous verrons comment il pourrait exister un lien inextricable entre la grande popularité des Elvis Gratton et l’omniprésence du courant de l’américanité au sein de la société québécoise post-référendaire. Ce faisant, nous verrons comment il se pourrait que Pierre Falardeau et Julien Poulin aient, contre leur gré, créé un « mythe québécois » qui aurait pour effet d’encourager ce qu’ils voulaient dénoncer.

The general objectives of setting standards and procedures for preventive conservation involve the reduction or eradication of the causes of deterioration and the early detection of threats in order to avoid the use of a curative intervention. Nos dias de hoje o Turismo Desportivo surge-nos como o diálogo entre dois sectores de importância acrescida na sociedade: o Desporto e o Turismo. Quando estas duas áreas se cruzam cria-se um novo segmento: o Turismo Desportivo - e é com ele que quer o desporto quer o turismo conseguem alargar a sua esfera de acção. Nesta dissertação procurou-se dar a conhecer a realidade turístico-desportiva na cidade de Elvas. Para tal, foi realizado um estudo sobre o conceito de Turismo Desportivo e realizadas entrevistas para posteriormente ser possível fomentar propostas para a dinamização da cidade através do Turismo Desportivo. Tendo a cidade de Elvas um potencial muito elevado mas com gravíssimas lacunas no que concerne à sua dinamização e projecção defende-se que, o turismo desportivo permite uma melhor organização da oferta turística pela resposta a diversas motivações podendo transformar-se num produto turístico consistente e duradouro; ABSTRACT: Today the Sports Tourism emerges as a dialogue between two areas of growing importance in society: Sport and Tourism. When these two areas intersect themselves, they create a new segment: the Sports Tourism – and it is with it that either sport or tourism can extend its sphere of action. In this dissertation it has been required to make known the reality of the Sports Tourism in Elvas. So it has been made a study about the concept of Sports Tourism and done some interviews in order to be possible to encourage some proposals to revitalize the city through the Sports Tourism. Elvas has a very high potential but with serious gaps concerning to its revitalization and projection and it is said that sports tourism allows a better organization of the tourism offer by the response to different motivations becoming in a tourist product consistent and lasting.

Abstract:

This essay explores the hierarchy amongst the characters in J.K Rowling’s Harry Potter novels with a theoretical focus on Critical Race Theory. The representation of the house-elves will be examined in relation to racism and slavery, which will be compared to values that have been influential in the past and that still shape society today. The result reveals that racism and slavery is presented throughout the novels and has a distinct connection with the British Empire as well as with Great Britain today. Counter narratives exhibit a new truth that is unveiled through the stories of the house-elves and create better understanding regarding discrimination. A pedagogical analysis has in addition been conducted on the novels to enhance the counter narratives through empathy. The student will with the novels, receive different perspectives that can help them to develop their empathic abilities.

Abstract:

Det här arbetet handlar om designa ett effektelektronikkort till National Instruments utvecklingsplattform ELVIS II, som skakunna styras från programmet LabVIEW. Kortet är tänkt att kunna användas i kurser inom effektelektronik på högskolenivåoch har designats för att passa ELVIS II's hårdvaruspecifikationer. I arbetet har alla kretsar byggts upp och simulerats iMultisim. Kretsarna som designats är en step-up-konverterare, en step-down-konverterare, en likriktare, en växelriktare ochen variabel last. Simuleringarna visade att kretsarna fungerar som tänkt och vad som skiljer sig från det teoretiska. Någotsom ofta visade sig i simuleringarna var att strömförbrukningen under korta perioder kraftigt kan överstiga det ELVIS II kanleverera, vilket behöver undersökas närmare. Rapporten innehåller scheman och simuleringsresultat från alla kretsar, vadsom är kvar att lösa på dessa och hur dessa kan anslutas till ELVIS II.
