Following publication in The Antiquaries Journal volume 96 (2016) of ‘Moor Park in the Seventeenth Century’, by Drury, Jeffery and Wrightson, this article presents the results of research by the present four authors on another house by Hugh May – Eltham Lodge, Kent – which survives rather better. Its exterior is often referred to as being relatively unaltered, but analysis of the surviving fabric and much new documentary evidence have nevertheless revealed many interventions, both inside and out, permitting a clearer understanding of the original appearance, layout and setting of this important Restoration house.

Abstract:
A relationship between isoprene and 1,3-butadiene mixing ratios was established to separate the anthropogenic and biogenic fractions of the measured isoprene in London air in both urban background (Eltham) and urban traffic (Marylebone Road) areas over two decades (1997–2017). The average daytime biogenic isoprene mixing ratios over this period reached 0.09 ± 0.04 ppb (Marylebone Road) and 0.11 ± 0.06 ppb (Eltham) between the period of 6:00 to 20:00 local standard time, contributing 40 and 75% of the total daytime isoprene mixing ratios. The average summertime biogenic isoprene mixing ratios for 1997–2017 are found to be 0.13 ± 0.02 and 0.15 ± 0.04 ppb which contribute 50 and 90% of the total summertime isoprene mixing ratios for Marylebone Road and Eltham, respectively. Significant anthropogenic isoprene mixing ratios are found during night-time (0.11 ± 0.04 ppb) and winter months (0.14 ± 0.01 ppb) at Marylebone Road. During high-temperature and high-pollution events (high ozone) there is a suggestion that ozone itself may be directly responsible for some of the isoprene emission. By observing the positive correlation between biogenic isoprene levels with temperature, photosynthetically active radiation and ozone mixing ratios during heatwave periods, the Cobb-Douglas production function was used to obtain a better understanding of the abiotic factors that stimulate isoprene emission from plants. Other reasons for a correlation between ozone and isoprene are discussed. The long-term effects of urban stressors on vegetation were also observed, with biogenic isoprene mixing ratios on Marylebone Road dropping over a 20-year period regardless of the sustained biomass levels.

Abstract:
Ben Eltham’s The Pacific Solution (2013) deals with several issues such as nationalism, political intimidation, racism and stereotyping of Muslims. It critiques the Howard government’s hard-line policy with Asylum seekers and its amendment of the migration act, known as the ‘Pacific Solution’, which excludes offshore islands from Australia’s migration zone and undermines thereby refugees’ attempts to seek better chances of life. This is portrayed on stage through the reaction of three white Australian housemates to the arrival at their front door of an Iraqi refugee to apply for asylum. In this paper, I investigate the representation of cultural diversity in the play and argue that it is a critique of dysfunctional models of inclusion where persons from minor cultures are marginalised in the Australian national and social spaces. In so doing, I consider some of the concepts discussed in Ghassan Hage’s White Nation: Fantasies of White Supremacy in a Multicultural Society (2000), namely those of managerial capacity, tolerance, and the dialectic of inclusion and exclusion. In addition to critiquing the dysfunctional models of including Muslim refugees, the play examines their representation in the mainstream media and their treatment by the legal process in Australia. To explore the impact of this on Muslim refugees’ alienation and marginalisation, I investigate studies of the representation of Muslims in the Australian mass media and their relevance to the stereotyping of Muslims as terrorists in the play. Drawing on the above, I argue that, through this play, Eltham criticised the Howard government’s inhumane treatment of Asylum seekers and its dissemination of Australian norms as aligning with its premises.

The title of the thesis – The activity of News Agencies ELTA and BNS. The case of LEO. When there were no tools of mass communication, the news were spreading from lip to lip. During last centuries the act of news communication rapidly grew up, building up our attitude towards everything that is going around us. Meanwhile, the news agencies take very important positions in building up social reality, because it is the place where news born, and after that they are being put into the context that is needed and released. Today news agencies have very important functions: to take a part in building up reality, to publicize topical events and to be the important tool in spreading the moral values of the society. The main thing analysed in this project is how the news agencies BNS and ELTA give news about one of the most controversial events in Lithuania – the creation of project of LEO LT. The purpose of this project is to compare the content of BNS and ELTA reports about LEO LT and to estimate if there are any subjectivity in text messages, which shows up from the appreciable elements, choosing information, ways of presentation and etc. During the interview with the heads of the news agencies, it is being tried to ascertain, what are the criterions of sorting out and giving the news, tendencies of creating news, principles of news agencies working, how many and what events, having a connection with the case of LEO LT, gives two agencies. Abstract:
Innovation in photovoltaic technology may offer cost competitive options to other energy sources and become a viable solution for the energy and environmental challenges of the 21st century. One proposed innovative technology is based on all-silicon tandem cells, which are constructed using superlattices consisting of environmental friendly Si and its compounds. The well and barrier materials in superlattices are restricted to silicon and silicon oxide during the present study. Single crystalline Si/SiO2 quantum wells (QWs) have been fabricated by thermal oxidation of silicon-on-insulator (SOI) wafers. It is found that oxide properties in QWs are important for SOI wafers prepared by the SIMOX (Separation by Implantation of Oxygen) technique. However, QWs fabricated from SOI wafers prepared by the ELTRAN (Epitaxial Layer TRANsfer) approach show the effect of quantum confinement without evidence of strong oxide interfacial transitions. In these wafers, evidence for an apparently ordered silicon oxide was found with 1.92?atomic fringe spacing along the (110) direction of the Si structure and with the thickness about 17?along the (100) direction of the Si structure. Luminescence wavelength ranges are from 700nm to 918nm depending on the Si thickness. The luminescence measurements on other positions of the sample show peak and shoulder spectra, which are explained by monolayer fluctuations in QW thicknesses, previously observed in III-V QWs and II-VI QWs. Si/SiO2 superlattices are fabricated by RF magnetron sputtering. Si density is the key issue in crystallizing the superlattice. High-density Si layers crystallize either under high temperature furnace annealing or rapid thermal process annealing. However, low density Si would not crystallize even at high temperature. Crystallized nanocrystals in the Si layers are observed by high resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM) when the Si layer is thicker than 3nm. When Si layers are thinner than 3nm, the Si layers are discontinuous and finally deteriorate into small nanocrystals. The suitability of such superlattices for surface passivation and antireflection coatings is reviewed. Initial attempts to fabricate heterojunctions between Si wafers and Si/SiO2 superlattices resulted in open circuit voltage of 252mV. However, it is expected that better results would be obtained if Si/SiO2 superlattices were fully crystallized.

Abstract: A growing number of studies on brain connectivity have been deployed in the area of Neuroscience. These studies aim to understand how different brain regions are related. Indeed, several techniques can be employed such as the functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI). Based on the BOLD signal (Blood Oxigenation Level Dependence), the fRMI consists of time series to estimate functional (fcMRI) and effective connectivity (ecMRI) patterns. The former is defined as synchronization between neural activities in remote brain regions and the later as the influence that one neural activity exerts on another area. The present work studies functional connectivity at rest (resting-state) of hippocampi from three groups: controls, patients with left MTLE and patients with right MTLE. The results showed differences in functional connectivity between both patients versus controls (only the controls showed correlation between both hippocampi) and between patients with left MTLE versus right MTLE (values of functional connectivity in patients with right MTLE were significantly higher than the group with left MTLE). The results demonstrated that the use of techniques that assess functional connectivity can be a powerful tool in the study of brain plasticity in patients with MTLE

Abstract:
Introduction: Epilepsy is a disease whith highly medical and social relevance, bringing impact on patients and society as a whole. Mesial Temporal Lobe Epilepsy (MTLE) is the most prevalent refractory epilepsy, in its causality the impact of the imbalance between excitatory neuronal circuits and inhibitory, needing a surgical removal of the altered structures and the interruption of their way to better seizure control and quality of life pacientes. Goal: Searching to increase understanding the role of the amygdala with intrinsic changes in neurotransmitter receptors and their subunits in ictogenesis mechanisms and epileptogenesis, enabling the improvement of surgical techniques currently used, as well as new therapeutic modalities, this study analyzed gene expression on the subunits of excitatory receptors, NMDA (NR2 and NR3A, GRIN2C and GRIN3A genes) and kainate (GluK1 and GluK2, GRIK1 and GRIK2 genes), and inhibitory receptor subunit GABA (?4 and ?5, genes GABRA4 and GABRA5 ), neuropeptide Y receptor subtypes (Y2 and Y5, and NPY5R with NPY2R gene) in the basolateral nucleus of human amygdala of patients with MTLE. Material and Methods: Amygdala fragments were used in 20 patients who made amigdalohipocampectomia with the Service neurosurgery HC-FMRP-USP, 10 patients with postoperative effective control (Engel 1) and 10 patients with inadequate control of seizures (Engel 3:04), and 10 amygdalas obtained from autopsies (control) using qPCR. Results: Were differences evidenced expression in NR2C subunits (p = 0.006) e?4 the GABAAr (p = 0.008), and subtype NPYr Y2 (p = 0.013), along with a tendency of NR3A subunits (p = 0.077). Showing no statistical significance in the analysis of GluK1 subunits (p = 0.147), GluK2 (p = 0.182) e?5 the GABAAr (p = 0.272), and the NPYr Y1 subtype (p = 0.242). Conclusion: The analyzes suggest differences in expression of neurotransmitter receptors in epilepsy patients on control containing the NR2C subunits and ?4 of GABAAr with NR3A subunits trends indicating amygdala neuronal modifications possibly involved in the epileptogenic zone, enabling therapeutic improvements with the refractory epilepsy treatment. As well can infer that the neural mechanisms involving the subunits ?4 GABAAr, GRIN2C and Y2 NPYr subtype in epileptogenesis and ictogenesis of TLE can be similar between the amygdala and hippocampus, while involving GLUK1 and GLUK2 subunits appear to be different; the GABRA5 gene can be used as endogenous control gene in studies of hippocampus and amygdala in TLE.

New media is a relative concept, and each era has its "new" media which is relative to the past. Nowadays, new media is usually defined as Internet communication technologies that enable or facilitate user-to-user interactivity and interactivity between user and information. With the development of Internet, digitization and interaction has become an important trend in TV industry. The relationship between sports and the media has been increasingly close along with the popularity of television from the 20th century, and has further developed the concept of "Sports/Media Complex". Television broadcasting brings additional income for sports organizations, and media organizations also get benefit from the advertising business owners. Furthermore, the reproduction of media text redefines the way audience understanding sports games. With the development of digital communication technologies, sports broadcasting brings audiences interactive viewing experience. This research emphasized on the development of new media sports channel in Taiwan, with Chunghwa Telecommunication MOD and ELTA Sports channel as the research object. Besides, through the relevant literature, this research discussed what kind of sports media landscape this two companies developed together in the long-term partnership. The results from the research found that Chunghwa Telecommunication MOD and ELTA Sports have developed a close symbiotic relationship in the years of partnership, and they have also brought the sports broadcasting more interactive qualities, which is different from the traditional TV viewing experience. In addition, the research found the development of sport in Taiwan has been dominated by the government, unlike the capitalist society's "Mediated Sports Production Complex" model. In recent years, the law requires political power out of the media, but the official color still can be found in the broadcasting of sports events.

This research is based on Value Net raised by Brandenburger and Nalebuff (1996) in the book of “Co-opetition”. The two sports channels are put on the center of Value Net to achieve three purposes in this research. 1. To discuss the coopetition Modes of two sports channels since commence. 2. To debate the impacts digital revolution will bring to two sports channels. 3. Deliberate the possible “new value” under two sports channels’ coopetition Modes in digital revolution。This research adopts documentary analysis, which mainly based on media information and electronic information, including theses and dissertations, journal, newspaper and magazine. Coding all the data obtained and put each code on the proper position on Value Net to compare, then implement editing analysis to analyze two sports channels’ coopetition modes. Value chain analysis discusses the impact digital revolution brings to the two sports channels. Based on the analysis and results of data, this research concludes that since Videoland Sports Channel secured the Broadcast right of CPBL in 1997 to compete with ERA sports channel, and recently bought HD outside broadcasting truck and High-Speed cameras for broadcast, its core values are the professional producing ability and localization. On the other hand, the core value of ELTA sports channel is it’s digital technology such as Digital Convergence, HD and 3D, but it still needs to rely on other channels for broadcasting domestic games. The competition on the broadcast right is generated between these two sports channels, but the complementary cooperation may sometimes happened as all the factors including customers and commercials in Value Net will affect the result. All the games and TV programs’ coopetition modes could vary. In digital revolution, two sports channels face the issues of the dilution of channel value, quantities demanded for programs, limited growth of commercials, and complicated back office support, and all the above mentioned issues are related to the inconsistence with regulation. Wish the amendment of regulatory could create new value to two sports channels, and further in operating steady and promoting the quality of programs.

The present study collected data on ELTA TV sports channel of the 2011 Chinese Professional Baseball League Championship Series broadcast, focusing on the broadcast content by play by play man and commentators.Methodology used for this study includes content analysis and discourse analysis, with a sample of 2824 sentences from five matches in the championship series. After the content and discourse analysis, the properties of the broadcast can be divided into the following 11 categories: narration, explanation, criticism, speculation, comparison, paraphrase, review, analogy, suggestion, conviction, and doubt. Discourse by play by play man and commentators generally involves the individual performance of each player, the performance of a team as a whole, as well as comments on the situation of the match itself; of which, the introduction of each player’s technical skills can be further categorized into: level of movement and performance, level of inner spirit, and execution of match strategy. When play by play man and commentators take different perspectives to narrate a match, strategic language use can bring more variety and diversity to the broadcasted content. It is worth mentioning that the modern television and photographic equipment is becoming more sophisticated and accurate. As broadcasters, “language” is the communication tool for play by play man and commentators. It helps create brand reputation, turn content of each match into stories, create sympathetic responses with the public through the television, satisfy their curiosity and need for entertainment, and rectify the sports culture with positive reviews. The language techniques will be the communication skill play by play man and commentators need to guide the audience to appreciate high quality matches.

Recently, the broadcast network industry grows rapidly, especially the digital video industry. While value chain has been constructed, how to effectively manage the complicated relationship among Internet Content Providers, Aggregator, and Internet Service Providers remains the next challenge. Thus, this research begins with the concept of value chain and further explores how aggregator links up with the different stakeholders. This research applies two major theories: Key Success Factors and Strategy Map to explore a case study, the ELTA Technology. In the deeply interviewing with ELTA’s CTO (Chief Technology Office), this research digs out 12 critical success factors. It follows with the exploration of imagined chart of the ELTA’s strategy map: financial perspective, customer perspective, internal perspective, innovation and learning perspective. To answer the question mentioned in chapter 1, four reflections are concluded as below: 1. 12 key success factors could possibly explain the success of ELTA Technology, especially marketing capability, integrated of cross industry, fast responded capability, and breed up the talent. 2. In order to maintain the key success factors, ELTA Technology highlights the perspective of human resource, then uses information system to maintain the daily operation, and finally builds up the organizational vision. 3. The research is attempting to propose the imagined strategy map of ELTA Technology, which could detail the linkage among the financial perspective, customer perspective, internal perspective, innovation and learning perspective. 4. Due to the maturity of the digital video industry, the aggregator in the above-mentioned value chain will be more important. The thesis provides the details of one important aggregator firm, the ELTA Technology, which could arguably serve as the contribution of this thesis.

Abstract:
This article reports on a study involving experienced university lecturers from mainland China reflecting on how to blend FutureLearn MOOCs into their existing English Language Teaching (ELT) curricula while on an ‘upskilling' teacher education summer course in the UK in academic year 2016-2017. Linked to a British Council ELTRA (English Language Teaching Research Award) project, the study involved: a. the administration of a pre-MOOC survey relating to teachers' beliefs towards online learning in general and MOOCs in particular; b. ‘learning by doing': taking part in a FutureLearn MOOC; c. reflecting on the experience both face-to-face in workshops, in online forums and in a post-MOOC survey. The outcomes of this article highlight that the understanding of what a MOOC is might differ between the UK and China. The article concludes by presenting the perceived pros and cons of adopting a ‘distributed flip MOOC blend' as previously discussed in related work.

Abstract:
Abstract The hydrocarbon business employs nanoparticles for a number of purposes, most notably to increase oil and gas output (Sircar et.al., 2022). Nanoparticles, nanosensors, nanocomposites, coated nanoparticles, nanofluids, and many other forms of nanomaterials find usage in the petroleum industry. While this technique has found widespread application, the development of a robust approach for monitoring nanoparticles’ behavior at depth is still in its infancy. For waterflood IOR initiatives, where it is used as proactive tracer technology: 1) to distinguish injected fluid from background (Commer et. al., 2020), 2) to understand injected-water direction in reservoir (Eltoum et.al., 2021), fluid flood front, and updating/improving dynamic model, the use of nanoparticles combined with geophysical data monitoring will be a useful risk-mitigation strategy (Huang et.al., 2021).
