Abstract:
ABSTRACTObjective: to describe the network of social support for the breast feeding of preterm newly-born infant discharged from the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Method: this is a descriptive research, with a qualitative approach, carried out after the approval by the Research Ethics Committee of SMS/RJ, under the Protocol 90/08, within the period from July to August 2008, through a questionnaire and a semi-structured interview with thirty mothers who attended to the follow-up of their preterm children, in a municipal maternity in Rio de Janeiro, and breastfed or expressed milk during hospitalization for more than seven days. The data analysis was based on Ingrid Elsen’s theory. Results: the interviews were grouped into the five attributes of Ingrid Elsen’s theory: 1) the presence; 2) the promotion of life and well-being; 3) the protection; 4) the inclusion; and 5) the orientation to life. Conclusion: it was found that the social support network in the process of breast feeding of the premature infant was the family, with great emphasis also to the nursing staff, which share the responsibility for the establishment of breast feeding in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and for the encouragement of exclusive breast feeding at home. Abstract:
Thomson et al. (1997) proposed that the extant Elseya from the Nicholson-Gregory drainages in northwestern Queensland was conspecific with the holotype of Elseya lavarackorum, which comprised a fossil carapace and associated plastron excavated from the late Pleistocene Terrace Site at Riversleigh. Analysis of additional fossil material, and examination of a suite of 16 scute characters (eight for each of the carapace and plastron) by Joseph-Ouni et al. (2020) concluded that the two species were distinct and represented separate Elseya lineages and proposed the new name Elseya oneiros for the extant lineage. Recently, the Turtle Taxonomy Working Group (TTWG) in their 9th edition Checklist of Turtles of the World (TTWG 2021) questioned the status of E. oneiros and placed it in the synonymy of E. lavarackorum, making the claim, amongst others, that the skeletal characters of Thomson et al. (1997) were not addressed. Here we fully address the claims made and evaluate those skeletal characters. We also assess an additional nine thoracic skeletal characters of the pertinent Elseya species, including E. dentata sensu stricto. The results again do not support the conclusions of Thomson et al. (1997) of the holotype of Elseya lavarackorum being conspecific with the extant Elseya from the Nicholson-Gregory Rivers, reaffirms the proposal offered by Joseph-Ouni et al. (2020) for the placement of E. lavarackorum in the subgenus Elseya, and the status of E. oneiros in the Nicholson-Gregory drainages as a distinct species.

Abstract:
The Burnett River snapping turtle (Elseya sp.) from the Burnett, Mary and Fitzroy river systems is an undescribed Australian freshwater turtle, of which very little ecological information is known. This paper describes the dietary ecology of the species in the Burnett River catchment. Stomach and faecal samples were collected from turtles and an index of relative importance was used to rank food items found in stomach samples. This index indicated that algae and aquatic ribbon weed (Vallisneria) were the dominant food items consumed. No difference in diet was found between males and females. Although the sample size was small, diet appeared to vary slightly seasonally, with Elseya sp. selectively feeding on the flower buds of the Chinese elm tree (Celtis chinensis) and the seeds of the blackbean tree (Castanospermum australe) when these food items were seasonally available. Faecal samples suggest that the most ingested foods (algae and aquatic ribbon weed) were also the most digestible. Although predominantly herbivorous, Elseya sp. was seen to eat carrion once in the wild.

Full text
Abstract:
Allozyme electrophoresis was used to explore relationships among the Australian Chelidae in order to test the currently accepted phylogeny and to determine the affinities of several distinctive but undescribed species. The data set was comprehensive, being based on 54 loci for turtles from 76 populations of 22 species (excluding Pseudemydura umbrina and Chelodina novaeguineae). Analysis by both phenetic and phylogenetic methods revealed that the genus Elseya, as currently recognised, is paraphyletic. The closest common ancestor to species of Elseya has Emydura (and possibly Rheodytes) among its living descendants. Five clades among the short-necked taxa were considered distinctive enough to warrant recognition at the generic level, namely (1) Emydura, (2) Elseya (to include only El. novaeguineae, El. dentata and three related but undescribed taxa), (3) Rheodytes, (4) the El. latisternum group (to include El. latisternum and three related but undescribed taxa), and (5) 'short-necked alpha', an undescribed species with no clear affinities. Levels of divergence among these generic groups were similar to levels of divergence among genera of cryptodiran turtles. A phylogeny for the Australian Chelidae, incorporating the results of the allozyme analyses, is presented. Further work is required to firmly establish the affinities of Rheodytes and 'short-necked alpha' in a phylogeny for the Australian chelid turtles.

Abstract:
Abstract— At a time when Mongolia is heavily affected by desertification and is the focus of global attention, the use of sand, especially manganese sand, for tourism may be the most effective way to combat desertification. Environmental protection is one of the most pressing issues in the “Elsen tasarkhai” region, and tourism (especially creative tourism) is seen as a source of revenue to mitigate this. Local people support tourism development, but lack of experience and organization is a disadvantage. The residents of "Elsen Tasarkhai" need professional training, counseling, and cooperation with the community and the protection administration to conduct tourism activities. The survey was conducted in June, July and August 2020 using a questionnaire with 17 questions covering 24 households in the Elsen Tasarkhai area. According to a survey of local households, it is important to support the use of sand for tourism, create local brand souvenirs, establish herder communities and start working in 2022. In order to develop community-based tourism in the vicinity of "Elsen Tasarkhai", it is necessary to develop "Sand sports, arts and culture tourism" regionally based on regional specifics.

Abstract:
The Chelidae is a family of side-necked turtles restricted in distribution to South America and Australasia. While their biology in Australia is reasonably well known, species in New Guinea are very poorly known despite high diversity, especially in the southern lowlands. In this paper, we report on the diversity, distribution, habitat and reproductive biology of the freshwater turtles of the TransFly region of the Western Province of Papua New Guinea, with special emphasis on reproduction of Emydura subglobosa, Elseya branderhorsti and Elseya novaeguineae. Seven species were captured, with reliable records of an eighth. A key to the freshwater turtles of the TransFly region is provided. Harvest methods, consumption, and trade in turtles by the TransFly communities are documented. There is mounting pressure to take advantage of revenue opportunities afforded by the Asian turtle trade, but this is impeded by lack of transport infrastructure. There is also insufficient demographic information on any New Guinean turtle species to make a reasoned judgment on the level of harvest that would be sustainable. Nor is there sufficient information on captive rearing for most species, and where it is available it is not accessible by local villagers. These knowledge gaps need to be addressed and factored into a management plan that is implemented before local communities can capitalise on the commercial opportunities provided by the turtle fauna without risking collapse of the resource and the implications for their concurrent subsistence economy that would follow.

Abstract:
The McTronX research group has conducted extensive research concerning Active Magnetic Bearings (AMBs). This research involved the establishment of an advanced AMB laboratory to aid in assisting industries that implement AMBs in their applications. This year the McTronX group’s focus shifted toward the development of an AMB system to be implemented in the Pebble Bed Modular Reactor (PBMR). The AMB system was designed to be used in a helium blower application. This involved the development of both the mechanical and the electronic components. The main goal of this AMB system was to develop a completely digital integrated controller which is responsible for the control of the AMB system, from here on referred to as the AMB drive and electronic system (ADES). The need arose for a totally digital system to increase the reliability and robustness of the ADES. These requirements are crucial in a nuclear environment. In order to develop a totally digital system a new issue had to be addressed. This involved the implementation of digital communication. This project involved the development of a communication sub‐system for the ADES. The communication system was divided into two sections, the internal and external communication system. The various interfaces were identified as well as their specifications formulated. The optimum solution was then selected for each of the interfaces by using a design process that involved comprehensive trade‐off studies. The external communication system and the internal communication system were specified and the necessary hardware was procured. An in‐house developed protocol was developed and implemented between the internal functional units of the ADES. The designed protocol adhered to the specific needs of an AMB application. The protocol was extensively tested by carrying out verification and validation tests and evaluation plans. The test and evaluation plans for verification were carried out by making use of simulations and laboratory experiments. Validation of the in‐house developed protocol was carried out by analyzing the internal communication system whilst the ADES was controlling the bearing module. During this phase the communication system was also subjected to error conditions. The protocol proved to be completely functional, robust and reliable, meeting the performance specifications and the requirements. During this project a foundation was laid for digital communication in AMB systems in the McTronX research group.

Abstract:
Signing off his letters always involved a type of lingering for Byron and an opportunity of reflecting on the just-completed letter. The voice comes from the same man, and yet simultaneously from somewhere else.In the light of these speculations, this essay intends to examine a range of Byron’s postscripts from correspondence written throughout his life in order to explore the various ways in which they ironically subvert, superintend, supplement, gloss or reinscribe the construction of his character in the main body of his letters. Examples of marginalised inscription are treated as a type of paratext that – unlike the marginalia in the poems – has never been considered at any length and, rather like Derrida’s supplement, bespeaks a dual addition to and subtraction from the composing self.

Abstract:
Catherine Hall-van den Elsen considers the career of Luisa Roldán (1652–1706), one of Spain’s most renowned female artists, who was appointed Escultora de Cámara (sculptor to the Royal Chamber) to both Kings Carlos II and Felipe V. As the daughter of a well-known Sevillian sculptor, Roldán developed her skills in a busy workshop that produced life-sized polychrome wood sculptures. But when the artist arrived in Madrid with her family in late 1688, she found an uncertain economic environment and a very different market, with reduced demand for the sculpture with which she was familiar. Roldán set about identifying an alternative product to suit the tastes of the royal and noble residents of Madrid’s Corte y Villa, proving herself an able interpreter of religious and political environment.

Abstract:
The Smith-Magenis syndrome (SMS) is a multiple congenital anomaly and mental retardation syndrome (Greenberg et al. 1996). The clinical phenotype includes distinctive craniofacial and skeletal features that change with age, a history of infantile hypotonia, significant expressive language delay, mental retardation, stereotypies, behavioral problems, and a sleep disorder (Potocki et al., 2000; De Leersynder et al. 2001). Two genetic mechanisms can cause SMS: an interstitial deletion involving chromosome 17p11.2 (including the retinoic acid–induced 1 [RAI1] gene) or a mutation in the RAI1 gene (Smith et al. 1986; Seranski et al. 2001; Slager et al. 2003). First described by Smith and colleagues in 1982, in two severely impaired patients (Smith et al. 1982), the phenotypic spectrum has been expanded by the recognition of additional cases (Smith et al. 1986; Stratton et al., 1986). The estimated prevalence of SMS deletion cases was reported to be 1 in 25,000 (Greenberg et al. 1991). However, new cases identified in the last decade as a result of improved molecular cytogenetic techniques (including microarray technology) now suggest the incidence to be closer to 1 in 15,000 births (Elsea and Girirajian 2008). Despite this improvement in technology accounting for new cases identified in the last several years, clinical diagnosis based on phenotypic recognition is often delayed. The phenotype of SMS becomes more pronounced and recognizable with advancing age both in terms of the physical and dysmorphic characteristics, as well as in the behavioral features (Gropman et al. 2006). Infants with SMS present with hypotonia, weak hoarse cry, decreased vocalization, and complacency (Gropman et al. 1998; 2006; Martin et al. 2006; Wolters et al.,2009). Gross and fine motor skill development is delayed in the first year of life. Sensory integration problems are frequently noted. Social skills are often age appropriate, delaying diagnosis in some cases. In older children, developmental delay, in particular expressive language delays, as well as emerging behavioral difficulties (Gropman et al. 2006; Martin et al. 2006; Madduri et al. 2006) and sleep disturbance may bring patients to clinical attention.
