Questa tesi si occupa della questione della stabilità lineare di wormholes (tunnel spaziotemporali) statici e a simmetria sferica, supportati da campi scalari di tipo fantasma autointeragenti, nel contesto della Relatività Generale per spazitempi di dimensione arbitraria. In letteratura, attraverso un'analisi gauge-invariante delle configurazioni di tipo wormhole, spesso si riesce a disaccoppiare le equazioni di campo linearizzate, ottenendo un'equazione delle onde (master equation) che, tuttavia, tipicamente è singolare dove il coefficiente radiale della metrica ha un punto critico, cioè nella gola del tunnel. Per risolvere questo problema, nei lavori passati è stato proposto un metodo di regolarizzazione che trasforma l'equazione delle onde singolare in una regolare; questo metodo è solitamente denominato "S-deformazione" (e spesso richiede parzialmente un'implementazione numerica, specialmente nel caso di campi scalari con un'autointerazione non banale). Il primo risultato del mio lavoro è la riduzione delle equazioni di campo linearizzate ad un sistema delle onde vincolato e completamente regolare, per due funzioni gauge-invarianti delle perturbazioni dei coefficienti della metrica e del campo scalare, opportunamente definite; il secondo risultato è una strategia per disaccoppiare questo sistema, ottenendo una sola master equation delle onde per un'altra quantità gauge-invariante. Nessun passaggio di questa costruzione determina l'apparizione di singolarità nella gola del tunnel o in altri punti (sempre che il campo scalare imperturbato non abbia punti critici, cosa che accade in moti esempi); quindi non è necessario regolarizzare a posteriori la master equation utilizzando il metodo di S-deformazione. Questo formalismo gauge-invariante e libero da singolarità, che generalizza a dimensione arbitraria l'approccio del mio articolo [1], è applicato ad alcune soluzioni di tipo wormhole statiche note (la maggior parte, ma non tutte, considerate in [1]). La più importante applicazione è ad un wormhole Anti-de Sitter (AdS), la cui stabilità lineare non pare sia mai stata analizzata da altri autori finora; utilizzando il presente metodo è possibile derivare una master equation completamente regolare che descrive le perturbazioni del wormhole AdS e quindi dimostrare che quest'ultimo è linearmente instabile, dopo aver dettagliatamente analizzato le proprietà spettrali di un operatore di tipo Schrödinger che compare nella master equation. Sulla stessa linea, è ottenuto un risultato parziale per l'analogo wormhole di tipo de Sitter (dS), caso tecnicamente più sottile a causa della presenza di orizzonti. Come ulteriore applicazione, ho riottenuto in maniera libera da singolarità le master equations per le perturbazioni di dei wormholes di Ellis-Bronnikov e di Torii-Shinkai. Ad integrazione, l'instabilità lineare dei wormholes AdS e di Torii-Shinkai sono riottenute utilizzando un metodo alternativo, privo di singolarità ma gauge-dipendente: in questo caso, si ottiene una master equation per la perturbazione della coordinata radiale, e l'indipendenza dal gauge del risultato di instabilità è testata a posteriori. Questo approccio alternativo e gauge-dipendente generalizza quello introdotto in [2] per il wormhole di Ellis-Bronnikov a simmetria riflessiva. In this thesis I deal with the linear stability analysis of static, spherically symmetric wormholes supported by phantom self-interacting scalar fields, in the framework of General Relativity with arbitrary spacetime dimension. In the previous literature, a gauge-invariant stability analysis of wormhole configurations often succeeds in decoupling the linearized field equations, yielding a wave-type master equation which, however, is typically singular where the radial coefficient of the metric has a critical point, that is, at the wormhole throat. In order to overcome this problem a regularization method has been proposed in previous works, which transforms the singular wave equation to a regular one; this method is usually referred to as “S-deformation” (and sometimes requires a partly numerical implementation, especially, in the case of scalar fields with nontrivial self-interaction). The first result of my work is the reduction of the linearized field equations to a completely regular, constrained wave system for two suitably defined gauge-invariant functions of the perturbations in the metric coefficients and in the scalar field; the second result is a strategy for decoupling this system, obtaining a single wave-type master equation for another gauge-invariant quantity. No step of this construction causes the appearing of singularities at the wormhole throat or elsewhere (provided that the unperturbed scalar field has no critical points, which occurs in many examples); therefore, it is not necessary to regularize a posteriori the master equation via the S-deformation method. This gauge-invariant and singularity-free formalism, which generalizes to arbitrary spacetime dimensions the approach of my paper [1], is then applied to some known static wormhole solutions (most, but not all of them considered in [1]). The most relevant application is a certain Anti-de Sitter (AdS) wormhole, whose linear stability analysis does not seem to have been performed previously by other authors; by using the present method, it is possible to derive a completely regular master equation describing the perturbations of the AdS wormhole and prove that the latter is actually linearly unstable, after providing a detailed analysis of the spectral properties of the Schrödinger type operator appearing in the master equation. A partial instability result is derived along the same lines for the analogous de Sitter (dS) wormhole, a technically more subtle case due to the presence of horizons. As a further application, I rederive in a singularity-free fashion the master equations for the perturbed Ellis-Bronnikov and Torii-Shinkai wormholes. As a supplement, the linear instability results for the AdS and for the Torii-Shinkai wormholes are also recovered using an alternative, singularity free but gauge-dependent method: in this case a regular master equation is derived for the perturbed radial coordinate, and the gauge-independence of the instability result is tested a posteriori. This alternative, gauge-dependent approach generalizes that introduced in my paper [2] for the reflection symmetric Ellis-Bronnikov wormhole. Abstract:
This study explores the stages of the hero’s journey in Ella by Laura Danielle Laughlin MacDonald using Joseph Campbell’s monomyth theory as well as the role of gender using Judith Butler’s theories on gender and gender performance. The study seeks to determine whether or not a female hero performing predominantly feminine gender roles can successfully complete the stages of a traditionally male-oriented hero’s journey. A literary analysis of Ella proves that the predominantly feminine gender performance of the hero, Ella, in no way interferes with her success as a hero proving that the traditional structure of the hero’s journey is unnecessarily gendered. The only stages not present in Ella are missing due to the structure of the fantasy world or the nature of the quest and not the hero’s gender.

"Ella Mathematics" is a web-based e-learning system which aims to improve elementary school students’ mathematics learning in Sweden. Such an e-learning tool has been partially completed in May 2012, except descriptive statistics module summarizing students’ performance in the learning process. This project report presents and describes the design and implementation of such descriptive statistics module, which intends to allow students to check their own grades and learning progress; teachers to check and compare students’ grades and progress, as well as parents to compare their children’s grades and learning progress with the average grade and progress of other students. To better understand and design such functionalities, different mathematical e-learning systems were investigated. Another contribution of this project relates to the evaluation and redesign of the existing database model of the “Ella Mathematics” system. The redesign improved performance and reduced data redundancy.

Abstract:

English Language Learners (ELLs) are one of the fastest growing student populations throughout the country. With ELLs come unique challenges schools must navigate to best serve these students. One challenge is the identification of these students and proper placement and service within ELL programs offered by schools. Another challenge is determining if an ELL also has a disability, particularly a learning disability, since language proficiency problems can mimic learning disability symptoms. This study sought to discover how states identify ELLs, and especially ELLs with disabilities (ELLWDs). The researcher examined the policy documents of all 50 states, analyzing and coding those documents for key elements relating to ELLs and ELLWDs found within previous research. Additionally, to better triangulate data, the researcher examined student populations for a sample of 15 states through state reported USDOE sources and US Census sources to determine how well the subgroups of ELLs and ELLWDs might be identified based on population comparisons. The study found that states tend to use the federal definition of limited English proficient as a basis for their definition of ELLs and that a little more than half of the states addressed the issue of ELLWDs at all. They do not have a formal identifying definition for these students. While federal DOE and OCR oversights have increased awareness and service for ELLS, more work remains, in particular with creating a common identification matrix for ELLWDs and raising awareness of their presence in the student population.

Syftet med denna studie är att undersöka hur omslagen på ELLE Sverige såg ut före och efter #metoo. #metoo är en rörelse som tar ställning mot sexuella trakasserier och fick stor internationell spridning den 15 oktober 2017. Metoderna som vi använde för att undersöka syftet var en kvantitativ innehållsanalys och därefter en semiotisk bildanalys. Undersökningsobjektet för studien var ELLE Sverige, som är Sveriges största modemagasin. För att kunna utläsa om det finns visuella mönster på omslagen, har vi först använt oss av kvantitativ innehållsanalys. Därefter gjordes ett urval av det mest samt det minst representativa omslaget utifrån tio analysfrågor. De fyra omslagen analyserades djupare med en semiotisk bildanalys. Resultatet visade att det var större likheter än skillnader mellan omslagen, även i jämförelse mellan perioden före och efter #metoo. Gemensamt för de båda representativa omslagen var främst att modellerna var unga och för de icke representativa omslagen var modellerna äldre än normen.

Si la sanction en éducation est un fait, est-elle pour autant légitime ? Partant du principe que le fait ne fait pas droit, même lorsqu’il est soutenu par une longue histoire, notre travail consiste à sonder les raisons qui ont fait de la sanction ce prétendu incontournable pédagogique.Le destin de l'éducateur est-il de sanctionner ? Que l’éducateur entende élever (par expiation ou la responsabilisation), dresser ou contrôler la conduite (par intimidation), sanctionner par principe (par référence à une loi source de toute valeur), l’effet est le même et le cercle logique patent : la sanction est une contrainte tout extérieure qui ne saurait motiver durablement et efficacement le sujet, et qui ne peut convertir qu’à la condition que le sujet sanctionné soit déjà converti. L’appel à une sanction responsabilisante apparaît ainsi incantatoire.Il faut convenir, toutefois, que la sanction discipline la conduite. Mais c’est par une fabrique du sujet qui n’a rien d’innocent ni d’inoffensif : fabrique des corps et des esprits, invention de l’agent d’imputation, de la faute, de la culpabilité, de la volonté libre qui fait de tout être un être-pour-la-sanction, et qui finit, paradoxe, par la rendre indispensable. Le sujet fait par la sanction finit par être fait pour la sanction : la sanction, qui sanctifie la loi et en exhibe l’essence, ne peut qu’être hantée par l’idée d’expiation.Une autre approche éducative, pourtant, est possible : celle qui renonce à l’agent, à la faute, à la culpabilité, et qui prône la transformation discrète et en amont de l’agir. Cette éducation sceptique, qui prend acte de l’incertitude foncière de l’action éducative, propose de faire du tact l’outil préventif du conflit, et du geste restauratif l’instrument de la réparation du lien et de la construction de l’avenir. La véritable autonomie ne s’épuise pas dans le règne figé de la loi, mais appelle son dépassement anomique (au sens de Guyau) dans la création d’un ordre-cosmos pensé comme émergence.Loin, donc, d’être cet incontournable, la sanction pourrait bien apparaître, en éducation, comme un remède pire que le mal qu’elle prétend soigner, en tant qu’elle produit cette homéostasie qu’elle seule peut ensuite entretenir
If punishment is a fact, is it legitimate all the same? Starting from the principle that fact does not law make, even if bolstered by a long-running historical tradition, we shall aim to scrutinize the reasons that turned punishment into a so-called pedagogical staple.Is the teacher fated to punish? Whether he seeks to raise – through atonement or responsibilization –, tame or control behavior through intimidation, scold according to principle – in reference to a law from which all values emanate –, the effect remains the same, and the logic remains patent: punishment is a wholly external constraint which cannot possibly motivate anyone efficiently and durably; it can only function if the punished person has already been indoctrinated. The use of a responsibilizing punishment thus appears to be incantatory.One must admit, however, that punishment channels behavior. And yet this channeling happens through molding the person through a process that is neither innocent nor harmless: the shaping of bodies and minds; the creation of means to blame, to fault, to guilt; the shaping of free will that makes each being exist for the sake of being punished, and therefore paradoxically makes punishment inevitable. The person shaped by punishment ends up being made to be punished: punishment means holding the law as gospel truth and flaunting its essence; therefore the one who punishes can only be obsessed by the idea of atonement.Another conception of education is possible nonetheless: one that abandons the idea of agency, of blame, and guilt, and advocates for a quiet transformation prior to acting. This skeptical transformation – which acknowledges the fundamentally unpredictable nature of education – suggest using tact to prevent conflict along with the act of mending to strengthen the social bond and build the future. Genuine autonomy does not wither under the immutable yoke of the law: it calls for emancipation through anomia (in Guyau’s sense) by creating a cosmic order conceived as emergence.Punishment, then, is far from being a staple of education: it could very well be a cure far worse than the ailing it seeks to cure. Who is the most typical woman in ELLE Sweden (2013)? In this study we investigated the typical woman represented in the Swedish fashion magazine ELLE (2013) for women. Does a typical woman exist in the magazine at all and if so – in what words and roles is she described in? How is this woman perceived in relation to the male gender? Based on the theory of constructionism; that the gender (i.e. What is female versus male) is constructed in the society and that media has an affect on our physical and psychological well being as well as our behavior and thoughts, the investigation of the female gender representation in women magazines, was of great importance to us. As our instrument in this study we used a quantitative content analysis in the purpose of gathering information from 24 reportages (12 issues of ELLE Sweden 2013) where 27 female celebrities in total were interviewed. According to our final results there is a very clear and typical representation of the woman in ELLE Sweden. Among other things she is a successful, white, western, career woman in the entertainment- or fashion industry who is ”beautiful” with blonde hair, lives in the city and admirers the opposite sex.

L’école française invite les enseignants à travailler par compétences avec leurs élèves. Cette approche des apprentissages met l’accent sur l’usage que l’on va faire du savoir. L’apprentissage de la citoyenneté est soumis à la nécessité de construire les compétences indispensables pour évoluer et coopérer dans le monde. Le lien fait entre ces deux objets dans les discours de l’école véhicule une manière particulière de comprendre la citoyenneté et désigne la compétence comme incontournable. L’étude du lien entre l’approche par compétences et la citoyenneté a été faite à partir d’une analyse de contenu de discours portant sur des écrits programmatiques de l’éducation à la citoyenneté. le travail mené sur une centaine de fiches projets d’action d’éducation à la citoyenneté en lycée, vise à montrer que le vocabulaire de l’approche par compétences, qui privilégie l’action, la mobilisation de ressources, qui ouvre la forme scolaire à d’autres horizons (économique, notamment), contribue à orienter le regard du futur citoyen vers des finalités et des figures fragmentées de la citoyenneté. Cependant les mises en situation que prévoit l’approche par compétences autorisent également le développement d’expériences et d’une participation qui actualisent les finalités et les formes mêmes de la vie démocratique et politique. Il semblerait que les initiatives citoyennes des lycéens, ouvrent l’horizon d’une vision renouvelée de la participation à la vie publique. Les explorations que semblent apporter les modalités de l’approche par compétences sur le terrain de la citoyenneté classique sont peut-être le moyen indispensable de continuer à explorer les possibilités de la vie démocratique
The French school invites teachers to work by skills with their students. This approach to learning emphasizes the use that we will make of knowledge. Learning citizenship involves building skills to evolve and cooperate in the world. The link between these two objects in the school's speech conveys a particular way of understanding citizenship and refers to competence as unavoidable. The study of the link between the competency-based approach and citizenship was made from an analysis of writings presenting actions of citizenship education. I tried to show by analyzing a hundred or so action plans for citizenship education in high school, that the vocabulary of the competency-based approach, which favors action, the mobilization of resources, which opens the form other horizons (economic, in particular), helps to direct the eyes of the future citizen towards ends and fragmented forms of citizenship. However, experience, exercises provided by the competency-based approach also allow the development of competencies in the framework of a participation that updates the aims and the very forms of democratic and political life. It seems that the initiatives of high school students, open the horizon of a renewed vision of participation in public life. The explorations that the modalities of the competency approach seem to bring to the field of classical citizenship may be the indispensable means of continuing to explore the possibilities of democratic life

Abstract . Es ist nicht leicht, das Wort Kultur zu definieren. Die Kulturen bleiben nicht immer innerhalb der Landesgrenzen, sondern kulturelle Erscheinungen können mit den Menschen in ein anderes Land über die Landesgrenzen wandern und sich mit der neuen Kultur vermischen. In dieser Magisterarbeit wird untersucht, welche Übersetzungsmethoden in der Kinderliteratur benutzt werden können, wenn kulturgebundene Ausdrücke übersetzt werden. Als Material werden das Buch Ella ja seitsemän törppöä von dem finnischen Kinderbuchautor Timo Parvela und die übersetzte Version Ella und der Neue in der Klasse von den Übersetzerinnen Anu und Nina Stohner benutzt. Eine qualitative Inhaltsanalyse wird gemacht. Die gefundenen kulturgebundenen Ausdrücke und die Übersetzungen werden unter den fünf Hauptthemen thematisiert: Namen, Märchen, Lieder, bekannte Personen und kulturgebundene Phänomene. In der Analyse werden die gefundenen Ausdrücke näher präsentiert und die Übersetzungsmethoden werden genannt. Es wird auch diskutiert, ob die Übersetzung z.B. den Inhalt oder die Bedeutung des Ausdrucks verändert hat. Einige Namen sind verändert worden, so dass der Leser die Namen verstehen kann und dass sie auf Deutsch aussprechen kann. Einige Namen sind nicht verändert worden. Die veränderten Namen sind durch finnische Namen, die auch in Deutschland bekannte sind, ersetzt worden. Einige Namen sind direkt ins Deutsche übersetzt worden. Der Hauptanteil der Märchen war ursprünglich deutsch. Die Märchen sind so übersetzt worden, wie sie ursprünglich erschienen. Die Lieder sind meistens durch deutsche Lieder ersetzt worden und sie sind nicht immer nach dem Liedtext oder nach der Melodie äquivalent. Die bekannten finnischen Personen sind weggelassen worden oder direkt übersetzt worden. Mit den Auslassungen ist ein wenig Humor verloren worden. Mit Paraphrasen, die unten auf der Seite des Buchs stehen, sind die Situationen, die der Leser ohne Erläuterung nicht verstehen könnte, erklärt worden. Einige Sachen sind in der Übersetzung mit kulturgebundenen Phänomenen ersetzt worden, z.B. puuro (Brei) ist zu Cappucino in der deutschen Übersetzung verändert worden. Die Zielgruppe der Kinderliteratur sind sowohl die Kinder als auch die Eltern, die das Buch laut dem Kind vorlesen. Damit der Leser das Buch auch in der Zielsprache verstehen kann, ist es nötig, in der Übersetzung des Buchs Adaptation und Auslassung zu benutzen. Es wäre auch interessant, zu wissen, ob die Ausdrücke in den Übersetzungen in andere Sprachen übersetzt worden sind und ob dieselben Ausdrücke auf dieselbe Weise übersetzt worden sind.Tiivistelmä. Kulttuurin määritelmä ei ole helppo, sillä kulttuurit ovat sekoittuneet aikojen saatossa eivätkä pysy vain tietyn maan rajojen sisällä. Vaeltaessaan ihmisten mukana maanrajojen yli kulttuuri muuttaa muotoaan ja mukautuu osaksi uutta kulttuuria. Tässä pro gradu -tutkielmassa tarkastellaan, mitä keinoja voidaan käyttää käännettäessä kulttuurisidonnaisia ilmauksia lastenkirjallisuudessa. Tutkimusmateriaalina ovat Timo Parvelan kirjoittama lastenkirja Ella ja seitsemän törppöä sekä Anu ja Nina Stohnerin saksankielinen käännös Ella und der Neue in der Klasse. Aikaisempaa tutkimusta kyseisen kirjan käännöksestä ei ollut, vaikka lastenkirjallisuus ja sen kääntäminen ovat muuten laajasti tutkittuja aiheita. Kirjoille tehtiin aluksi sisällönanalyysi, jossa löydetyt kulttuurisidonnaiset ilmaukset jaettiin viiden teeman alle: nimet, sadut, laulut, tunnetut henkilöt ja kulttuurisidonnaiset ilmiöt. Analyysissä löytöjen käännösmetodeja tutkitaan vertaamalla saksankielisiä käännösratkaisuja suomenkielisiin alkuperäisiin ilmauksiin. Samalla tarkastellaan, onko käännösratkaisu esimerkiksi muuttanut ilmauksen merkitystä tai sisältöä kohdekielessä vai ovatko merkitys ja sisältö pysyneet samana. Osa nimistä on muutettu käännöstä varten, jotta ne olisivat ymmärrettävissä ja äännettävissä saksaksi, kun taas osa nimistä on pysynyt samana kuin lähdetekstissä olevat nimet. Vaihdetut nimet ovat joko kokonaan muita, saksalaisille tuttuja suomenkielisiä nimiä tai suoria käännöksiä. Satujen käännöksissä on otettu huomioon se, että useat sadut ovat alkuperäisesti saksalaisia. Sadut on käännetty saksaksi alkuperäisten satujen mukaisesti. Laulut on suurimmaksi osaksi adaptoitu saksalaisiksi lauluiksi, eli suomalaiset laulut on korvattu saksalaisilla lauluilla. Näiden käännöksissä ei kuitenkaan ole otettu tarkasti huomioon sitä, että laulu olisi ekvivalentti suomalaisen laulun kanssa vaan saksankielisten laulujen melodioissa ja sanomissa saattaa olla suurikin ero suomenkieliseen verrattuna. Tunnettujen henkilöiden käännöksissä on tehty joko poisjättöjä tai suoria käännöksiä. Poisjätöt muokkaavat tekstiä, sillä näin ollen humoristisia kohtauksia on jätetty kokonaan pois. Tekstin ulkopuolisilla lisäyksillä selitetään kulttuurisidonnaisia ilmiöitä, jotta lukija voi ymmärtää kaikki tilanteet. Joitain asioita on muutettu kulttuurisidonnaisten ilmiöiden käännöksessä, esimerkiksi puuro on muutettu cappuccinoksi saksankielisessä käännöksessä. Lastenkirjallisuudessa kohdeyleisönä ovat sekä lapsi että lapselle kirjaa ääneen lukeva aikuinen. Jotta ulkomaalaisesta ympäristöstä kertova kirja tulisi varmasti kohdemaassa ymmärretyksi, on käännöksessä käytettävä adaptaatiota ja poisjättöä. Mielenkiintoista olisi myös tietää, millä tavalla ilmaukset ovat käännetty muiden kielien käännöksissä ja ovatko ratkaisut tapahtuneet samoissa kohdissa.

Ella Mathematics is a web portal that will completely replace the printed math text book in the Swedish elementary school. When the math education is moved in to the digital world the flexibility and adaptability will increase. In 2011 the Swedish government revised the Swedish school system, which contained a whole new curriculum for the elementary school math education. This has been the foundation for the development of Ella Mathematics and the design of the three different users; student, teacher and parent. The development has been done with Dynamic Product Development methods from the project start in September 2011 until the final exam in May 2012. Ella Mathematics has been developed with the pupil’s math knowledge in focus. Ella Mathematics offers a vast amount of reality-based exercises and movies. The tasks and movies are adapted both for groups and individual students. The goal is that the students is given the best opportunity to get the knowledge required his or her career and at the same time ease the teachers workload by giving support with group task and statistics. The user can log in to Ella Mathematics where he or she has access to the internet; threw a cell phone, tablet, computer or interactive whiteboard. With Ella Mathematics, the pupil’s interest and motivation for math will increase, at the same time as they learn how they use their gained knowledge. Le lien entre l'age des heros et les themes respectifs de leur conte, la fusion thematique et la presence de certaines coutumes africaines sont importants pour comprendre l'aspect purement africain des contes de tutuola. Le voyage initiatique contribue largement a la construction d'une intrigue lineaire. La repetition de micro-recits quasi-identiques est un trait de l'intrigue didactique. La technique parenthetique imprime au recit une progression horizontale. L'art du portrait de tutuola est quasi-identique a celui du sculpteur africain. La dimension metaphorique du portrait physique d'un personnage revele, dans la plupart des cas, sa dimension psychologique. La plupart des symboles ont une connotation specifiquement africaine
Tutuola changes himself into the seconds's spokesman in reproducing the exact traditional form of the tale. The correlation between the hero's age and the theme of the corresponding tale, the coalescing of themes, and the presence of some african social values are essential to bring out the african specificity of the tales. Initiation contributes largely to the building of a linear structure. Repetition of quasi-identical sequences is a characteristic of the didactic dimension. The parenthetical technique gives a horizontal progression to the story. Tutuola's art of portrait is almost the same as the one of the african sculptor. The metaphorical dimension of a character's physical portrait is linked, in most cases, to his psychological dimension. Most of the symbols have a particular african connotation

Balanced Scorecard belongs to the most prominent managerial tools for performance measurement and strategy management. Aim of this thesis is to describe BSC with emphasis to small and medium enterprises using literature review. Additional supporting tools for strategy formulation are included as well. BSC is then proposed for implementation in privately owned small enterprise in the sector of medical devices. Based on the thorough analysis of the company and its environmental factors operational and strategical performance gaps are identified. Such gaps are then addressed by means of BSC including financial, customer, internal processes and learning and growth perspective. Despite some limitations inherent to SMEs in general introduction of BSC is feasible and could be of value to all company stakeholders.

All students come to the classroom with their own ideas about a number of science phenomena. In the classroom setting, English language learners may have ideas about heat and temperature that present additional challenges for teachers. In fact, their ideas can stem from many different influences and English language learners (ELL), in particular, may have misconceptions about topics and language barriers, or misconceptions, that are culturally or language-based (Lee, 2001). This action research thesis was performed to explore the research questions: How did my use of formative assessment affect ELL students' misconceptions about heat?, How did my use of formative assessment uncover students' misconceptions about heat? Formative assessments were used in the classroom to uncover students' misconceptions about heat and temperature. The students performed labs based on the formative assessment activity sheets. The students answer before and after questions related to the labs. Data were collected and analyzed to examine changes in ELL students' conceptions of heat and temperature. Data showed that some ELL students changed their ideas about heat and temperature but other misconceptions remained. Time allotted to instruction and alignment of laboratory activities with formative assessments need to be further explored to address changing students' ideas about heat and temperature.

Syfte: Svenska Elles personporträtt har studerats med syfte att belysa hur ett Vi och Dem förhållande konstrueras, men även för att klargöra vilka som utgör Vi och Dem i kontexten. Detta för att ta reda på vilka sociala konstruktioner som Elle medverkar till. Metod: Studien är en kritisk diskursanalys vilken är inspirerad av Norman Fairclough Critical discourse analysis. Texterna har vidare behandlats utifrån en symtomal innehållsanalys, med hjälp utav verktyg hämtade ur semiotiken. Resultat: Studiens resultat visar på att ett specifikt narrativ appliceras på samtliga av Elles personporträtt. Detta sker likt en schablon som skapar en fiktiv karaktär av intervjuobjektet vilket därmed konstrueras till ett Vi. Genom flertalet faktorer exkluderas läsaren i relation till vi:et och blir därmed ett uttalat Dem.

L’objectif de ce travail est d’analyser théoriquement et expérimentalement la condensation des espèces inorganiques dans une installation de gazéification de la biomasse. Lors de la gazéification de la biomasse, des espèces inorganiques sont volatilisées et se condensent lors du refroidissement du gaz de synthèse. Ces espèces sont problématiques pour le procédé et doivent être éliminées avant la synthèse des biocarburants. Une étude thermodynamique a précisé la nature et la répartition des espèces inorganiques qui sont volatilisées lors de la gazéification ainsi que des espèces qui se condensent lors du refroidissement. Un modèle de condensation des aérosols issus de la gazéification de la biomasse a ensuite été construit à partir d’une description mathématique des différents phénomènes mis en jeu (nucléation, croissance, agglomération et dépôts) Parallèlement un dispositif expérimental a été mis au point, construit et qualifié. Ce dispositif permet d’analyser la condensation d’une vapeur de KCl dans un écoulement pouvant comporter des particules de carbone se refroidissant à une vitesse de 1000 K/s. Les résultats expérimentaux obtenus ont mis en évidence une nucléation du KCl lors d’un refroidissement à 1000 K/s, la condensation de KCl sur les particules de carbone ainsi que le dépôt de KCl et des particules sur les parois. La condensation de KCl provoque une augmentation du diamètre aérodynamique des particules de carbone. La présence de particules dans l’écoulement permet de diminuer les dépôts de KCl aux parois de 25% à 40%. La comparaison de calculs simulant les expériences avec les données expérimentales a permis de quantifier les différents phénomènes et de valider le modèle. Enfin, des solutions ont été proposées pour limiter les dépôts de KCl aux parois des échangeurs dans une installation industrielle de gazéification de la biomasse
The aim of this work is to analyse theoretically and experimentally inorganic species conden- sation in a biomass gasification facility. During biomass gasification, some inorganic species are volatilised and then condense when the syngas cools down. These species can spoil the facility and thus have to be removed before the biodiesel synthesis. First, a thermodynamic study descri- bed the nature and distribution of inorganic species either volatilised during biomass gasification or condensed during cooling. Then an aerosol condensation model for biomass gasification has been developed using a mathematical description of the different phenomena involved (nuclea- tion, growth, agglomeration, deposition). Meanwhile, an experimental device (ANACONDA) has been built and qualified. This device was used to analyse KCl condensation on graphite particles as the gas cooled at 1000 K/s. Experimental results showed nucleation of new KCl particles du- ring the cooling, KCl condensation on graphite particles and deposition of KCl and particles on walls. KCl condensation causes an increase in graphite particle aerodynamic diameter. Graphite particles prevent wall deposit of KCl, which decreased from 40% to 25%. From the comparison of simulation and experimental results, the various phenomena could be quantified and the model validated. Finally, the model was used to propose solutions for limiting inorganic deposit on exchanger walls in a biomass-gasification industrial facility

Abstract:
Lifestyle magazines portray women in different manners and have an influence on how media consumers create self-images. The importance of knowing how different visual representation of the female acts out in magazines with large target audiences is therefore of weight for the magazines’ readers to understand. This thesis analyze how the two lifestyle magazines ELLE and LOVE portrays women in images and how they in turn create ideal images of women. The thesis has been conducted through a qualitative analysis of 5 images from each magazine that represents the magazines artistic styles. The theories used in this study are semiotic image analysis and visual text analysis viewed from a gender- and discourse perspective. The conclusion of this thesis is that ELLE portrays women as strong, happy and feminine, with at tendency towards androgyny, while LOVE describes women as inferior and sexual objects constructed for the male gaze. The magazines, which belong to a classic- respectively a post-modern genre within lifestyle magazines, thereby switch places with each other and becomes each other’s counterparts.

This research aims to investigate how Elle Brazil magazine resizes its enunciation mechanisms on multiple platforms throughout the assembly of their transmedia project. Founded in 1945 in France and launched in 1986 in Brazil, Elle Brazil is a women's magazine, which its main thematic fields are fashion, beauty, lifestyle and health (fitness). The publication operates nowadays on the production and distribution of content on different platforms involving both printed and digital editions, a page in the website M de Mulher, from Editora Abril, and profiles on social networks such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat and Periscope. This work intends to exam how Elle Brazil magazine operates the enunciation mechanisms in each media platform of its transmedia project. It also seeks to understand how the aesthesic component acts in the resizing of such mechanisms, and how the discursive interactions occur on every platform that are part of the transmedia project and that also delimit the visibility schemes involved in the performance of readers in such medias. The research starts from the hypothesis that the multiple enunciation platforms of Elle Brazil configure a transmedia narrative. It also rises the issues that each media has a distinct enunciation process; that the discursive interactions based on transitivity relationships are what enables the construction of transmedia narratives and that, in the case of transmedia narrative elaborated by Elle Brazil, the make feel goes beyond a simple reactive adjustment. The analysis is based on the theoretical and methodological framework of the Discursive Semiotics of Algirdas Julien Greimas; the Sociosemiotics of Eric Landowski, focusing on his studies on regimes of interaction, and the Plastic Semiotics, developed by authors such as Jean-Marie Floch and Ana Claudia de Oliveira. For the understanding of the enunciation processes in different medias, the studies of Jose Luiz Fiorin are prioritized and to approach the concept of transmediation, Yvana Fechine's and Henry Jenkins's research. The delimitation of the corpus was chosen from the media coverage of Elle Brazil on the Sao Paulo Fashion Week 2016 (SPFW N41) and was organized by aspectual categories which ultimately guided the analysis of each media platform and its operations within the transmedia project. The investigation of the behaviour of each media of Elle Brazil while covering the SPFW N41 showed a greater predisposition to subjectivity within their strategies of enunciation, as well as the presence of discursive interactions based on transitivity and visibility relations anchored in a wanting to be seen
Esta pesquisa busca investigar de que forma a revista Elle Brasil redimensiona os mecanismos de enunciação em múltiplas plataformas na construção do seu projeto transmídia. Criada em 1945, na França, e lançada em 1988 no Brasil, Elle Brasil é uma revista feminina que tem como principais temáticas moda, beleza, estilo de vida e saúde (fitness). A publicação atua hoje a partir da produção e distribuição de conteúdo em diferentes plataformas que envolvem edições impressa e digital, uma página no portal M de Mulher, da editora Abril, e perfis nas redes sociais Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat e Periscope. Objetiva-se aqui examinar como a revista Elle Brasil trabalha os mecanismos de enunciação em cada plataforma midiática do seu projeto transmídia. Também se busca compreender de que maneira o componente estésico atua na dimensão de tais mecanismos, como se dão as interações discursivas em cada plataforma que compõe o projeto transmídia e delimitar os regimes de visibilidade envolvidos na atuação dos leitores em tais mídias. A pesquisa parte da hipótese que as múltiplas plataformas de enunciação de Elle Brasil a configuram como uma narrativa transmídia. Também se adotam como hipóteses a inferência de que cada mídia possui um processo de enunciação distinto; de que são as interações discursivas baseadas em relações de transitividade que possibilitam a própria construção de narrativas transmídias e de que, no caso da narrativa transmídia construída por Elle Brasil, tal fazer sentir vai além de um simples ajustamento reativo. A análise do objeto utiliza o arcabouço teórico-metodológico da Semiótica Discursiva de Algirdas Julien Greimas; da Sociossemiótica de Eric Landowski, priorizando os seus estudos sobre regimes de interação, e da Semiótica Plástica, desenvolvida por autores como Jean¬ Marie Floch e Ana Claudia de Oliveira. Para a compreensão dos processos enunciativos nas diferentes mídias, são priorizados OS estudos de José Luiz Fiorin e, para a abordagem do conceito de transmidiação, as pesquisas de Yvana Fechine e Henry Jenkins. A delimitação do corpus deu-se a partir da cobertura jornalística de Elle Brasil no São Paulo Fashion Week 2016 (SPFW N41) e foi organizada por meio de categorias aspectuais que orientaram, em última instância, a análise de cada plataforma midiática e o exame da sua atuação dentro do projeto transmídia. A investigação do comportamento de cada mídia de Elle Brasil durante a cobertura do SPFW N41 revelou uma maior propensão à subjetividade dentro de suas estratégias enunciativas, bem com a presença de interações discursivas baseadas em uma maior transitividade e relações de visibilidade ancoradas em um querer ser visto

In questo elaborato è discusso l'utilizzo del linguaggio Lambda Prolog, con interprete ELPI, per lo sviluppo di dimostratori interattivi. Nel primo capitolo viene introdotto Lambda Prolog, sono fornite indicazioni storiche sull'interactive theorem proving e descritto cosa ci si aspetta da un interactive theorem prover basato sull'isomorfismo di Curry-Howard. Le estensioni fornite da ELPI sono analizzate rispetto alla possibilità di facilitare l'implementazione di un dimostratore interattivo. Nel secondo capitolo è introdotta Minimalist Type Theory, analizzato il kernel implementato e su cui è stato costruito il lavoro sviluppato, con una trattazione dell'implementazione di un elaboratore e di un dimostratore interattivo. Per concludere, vengono analizzati pro e contro della soluzione proposta e i suoi possibili sviluppi futuri.

Aim: The purpose of this essay is to:

 Analyze the cover images from the 2007 editions of the magazines Elles and Café, using semiotic analysis.

 Analyzes eventual resemblances or differences between the two magazine's cover images based upon the result of the semiotic analysis.

Material and methods: The study of Elles's and Café's cover pages has been done using a model built upon semiotic analysis, developed with the purpose of suiting observation and examination of cover pages of fashion magazines. The cover pages were analyzed from the categories character, context, and environment.

Main results: The main results include the observation that both Elles and Café chooses well-known figures from women's fashion industry as prime characters on their covers. In Elles, all main characters are famous women emerging from the music, television and fashion industries. The women in Café are known for similar professions. However, the men in Café are associated with politics, sports and music. Men and women are, through the ideals and styles conveyed in the magazines, associated with gender-specific roles, contrasting and contributing to, a problematic contemporary definition of gender, identity and ideal.

L'éthique, dans la version qu'en donne le kantisme, peut se saisir sous une unique question. Il suffit en effet, pour déterminer la valeur morale de son action, de se demander s'il est possible d'universaliser la maxime de l'action. La question, cependant, pose problème : il faut savoir comme la poser, c'est-à-dire comment constituer la description de l'action à partir de laquelle nous poserons la question. Cela pose la question de la description de l'action et de l'identification des actions dans le discours éthique. L'enjeu est de valider la possibilité de l'universalisme éthique à partir de l'étude du cas qui lui semble le plus difficile à résoudre, celui du mensonge. Je reprends donc la lecture du droit de mentir, et de la polémique entre Kant et Constant.

La thèse de maîtrise écrite dans le cadre du programme de Mondialisation et développement international a pour sujet la Responsabilité sociale (ou sociétale) des entreprises (RSE) et le rôle social joué par ces dernières. Alors que la conceptualisation de la RSE et la théorisation du sujet sont nombreuses et divergentes, en raison notamment de la pluralité de regards et de perspectives sur la question, le projet de recherche est développé de manière à balayer les divers théories et concepts pour en soutirer les failles et les forces. Cette thèse répond à l'invitation d'Elizabet Garriga et Domènec Melé (2004, 66) de trouver un courant théorique qui pallie les faiblesses des approches de leur taxonomie en plus d'en catalyser les forces. Dans cette partie, les théories politiques présentent un cadre d'analyse permettant d'aborder la RSE sous une perspective de relations de pouvoir entre une entreprise, les stakeholders et l'État. Puis, les théories éthiques recensent tour à tour le développement durable et les droits humains avant de souligner leur apport implicite à l'approche du bien commun afin de présenter la particularité de guider les entreprises à respecter et honorer un ensemble de normes. Puis finalement, la théorie des stakeholders apporte une dimension descriptive, systématique, des échanges potentiels entre l'entreprise et les stakeholders, contrastant avec les autres approches, qui sont principalement, et éminemment normatives. Après une conceptualisation et une revue de littérature sur le sujet, la RSE est alors théorisée sous une perspective de l'anthropologie française du don de Marcel Mauss. En considérant les outils d'analyse laissés par Marcel Mauss et son legs sur le don et le contre-don, la RSE peut être comprise comme un ensemble de relations sociales dynamiques entre une communauté et une entreprise au sein desquelles les deux agents sociaux s'échangent des biens et services – par le biais de la RSE – dans le but d'assurer une certaine cohésion sociale. Le principe généré par le du don et contre-don est en soi consternant de simplicité. Une personne X représentant un groupe d'individus donne à un autre agent Y, représentant lui aussi un groupe d'individus. En acceptant le don, l'agent Y se place dans une position où il se trouve obligé de redonner à la personne X. C'est le contre-don, qui résulte de la triple obligation : celle de donner, de recevoir et de rendre. À travers ces échanges matériels irréductibles, les deux agents s'engagent l'un à l'autre, ils créent, recréent et perpétuent cet engagement social. Un lien est tissé; leur relation est donc sociale. C'est sous ce schème analytique que le cadre théorique s'inscrit, en utilisant le don de Mauss comme assise afin de déterminer si la RSE est sociale. Le cadre théorique ainsi développé est finalement analysé par une étude de cas localisée au Nigéria, mettant sur la sellette les activités de RSE de l'entreprise pétrochimique Royal Dutch Shell.
