DOD Instruction 7000.14-R, paragraph 0716, prescribes the methods that will be used to determine the price of DOD publications when they are sold to foreign military sales (FMS) customers. The Instruction includes publication pricing factors that shall be included in the development of FMS prices for paper publications. When technical data was maintained and distributed primarily by paper form, pricing the product to recover the associated costs was a relatively reasonable and reliable process. As we transition from paper to electronic data encompassed in various media and arrangements, the costs associated with this migration will differ considerably. As electronic storage and presentation of digital data becomes more interactive with the internet, the association between the existing practices and advanced products become more contradictory. The historical pricing procedures will no longer reflect the costs that need to be recovered. In this era of digital data and computerized integration, new technological advances have increased the demand and cost of services associated with digitization of paper documents. With the introduction of these new technologies, various fees associated with this transformation have to be incorporated into the pricing structure that currently exists. The problem that exists with the incorporation of these fees is the lack of long-term historical data due to relative infancy of the goods and services linked to this technology. The primary objective of this project is to determine accurate and justifiable pricing for the foreign military sale of electronic technical manuals under the guiding principles of DOD Instruction 7000.14-R.

Abstract:
This dissertation examines the historical technical publications of the United States Army from 1775-2004. Historical research in Army technical communication reveals the persuasive characteristics of its technical publications. Elements of narrative, storytelling, and anthropomorphism are techniques writers used to help deliver information to readers. Research also reveals the design techniques writers adopted to unite the situated literacies of the troops. Analyses of print, comic, and digital media expose the increasing visualization of information since the eighteenth century. The results of such historical research can be applied to new media designs. Automating processes captured in paper-based technical manuals and adding intelligent functionality to these designs are two of many possible design options. Research also dispels a myth concerning the history of modern technical communication and illustrates the development of many genres and subgenres. Modern technical communication was not born of World War II as many scholars suggest, but was a legitimate field in eighteenth-century America. Finally, historical research in Army technical communication shows the systematic progression of a technological society and our increasing dependence on machine intelligence.

Grottheim, Odd Eirik. "Development and assessment of electronic manual for well control and blowout containment." Texas A&M University, 2005. http://hdl.handle.net/1969.1/2701.

Full text
Abstract:
DEA ?? 63, Floating Vessel Blowout Control is a blowout containment study which was completed in 1990, and it did not include discussions about operations in the water depths we currently operate in. As offshore drilling is continuously moving into deeper and deeper waters, a need to further investigate well control and blowout containment in ultradeep water has arisen. This project describes the development and assessment of an electronic cross-reference tool for well control and blowout containment, with added focus on ultradeep water operations. The approach of this manual is fully electronic, thus being able to serve the needs of the engineer/driller with greater ease in both pre-planning and in a stressful onthe- job setting. The cross-reference is a manual for the state of the art in well control and blowout containment methodology. It provides easy-to-use topical organization by categories and subcategories, and aims at providing clear links between symptoms, causes, and solutions. Clear explanations to complicated issues are provided, and confirmation of applicable blowout intervention procedures, be it conventional or unconventional, are discussed. Human error and equipment failure are the causes of blowouts, and they are bound to happen in an ultradeep water environment. Well control events are harder to detect andhandle in ultradeep water, and quick reaction time is essential. After detection and shutin, the Driller??s method is the preferred circulation method in ultradeep water, due to its responsiveness and simplicity. In case kick handling is unsuccessful, contingency plans should be in place to handle a potential blowout. If a blowout does occur, and the blowing well does not self-kill through bridging, a dynamic kill through relief well intervention is likely to be necessary, as underwater intervention is difficult in ultradeep water. With new ultradeep water drilling technologies providing potential for increased performance, alternative well control methods might be necessary. Along with these new technologies follow new unfamiliar procedures, and proper education and training is essential.

Foss, Jonathan G. K. "Manual and automatic authoring for adaptive hypermedia." Thesis, University of Warwick, 2012. http://wrap.warwick.ac.uk/56270/.

Full text
Abstract:
Adaptive Hypermedia allows online content to be tailored specifically to the needs of the user. This is particularly valuable in educational systems, where a student might benefit from a learning experience which only displays (or recommends) content that they need to know. Authoring for adaptive systems requires content to be divided into stand-alone fragments which must then be labelled with sufficient pedagogical metadata. Authors must also create a pedagogical strategy that selects the appropriate content depending on (amongst other things) the learner's profile. This authoring process is time-consuming and unfamiliar to most non-technical authors. Therefore, to ensure that students (of all ages, ability level and interests) can benefit from Adaptive Educational Hypermedia, authoring tools need to be usable by a range of educators. The overall aim of this thesis is therefore to identify the ways that this authoring process can be simplified. The research in this thesis describes the changes that were made to the My Online Teacher (MOT) tool in order to address issues such as functionality and usability. The thesis also describes usability and functionality changes that were made to the GRAPPLE Authoring Tool (GAT), which was developed as part of a European FP7 project. These two tools (which utilise different authoring paradigms) were then used within a usability evaluation, allowing the research to draw a comparison between the two toolsets. The thesis also describes how educators can reuse their existing non-adaptive (linear) material (such as presentations and Wiki articles) by importing content into an adaptive authoring system.

Catanzaro, Wesley M. "THE DEVELOPMENT OF AN ELECTRONIC DATA COLLECTION TOOL AND COMPARISON OF THE ELECTRONIC AND MANUAL METHODS OF LAND USE INVENTORY." DigitalCommons@CalPoly, 2013. https://digitalcommons.calpoly.edu/theses/1013.

Full text
Abstract:
An important component of Planning Information Systems for municipal planning agencies is a comprehensive land use inventory that provides information on the location, distribution, and intensity of land uses throughout a community. This data is a necessary prerequisite for the informed creation of planning documents such as General Plans, Specific Plans, Housing Inventories, and Climate Action Plans. Beyond location, distribution and intensity of land uses, planners may also wish to incorporate additional information at the parcel level, such as the number of housing or commercial units, building condition, and/or access and connectivity to adjacent streets. Because some of this information is best observed in the field, agencies require methods of collecting this data that will ensure data precision, accuracy, and consistency, while minimizing data collection and processing time. Electronic data collection tools that are compatible with Geographic Information Systems provide a potential solution that can facilitate these desired data collection parameters. This research illustrates the development of an electronic data collection tool that planning agencies may utilize within various planning efforts, and compares the efficiency of the tool to traditional ‘pen-and-paper’ data collection methods in terms of time savings. It is recommended that planning agencies widely adopt and implement electronic tools for land use data collection, for the demonstrated benefits related to data consistency and reduced data collection time in the field.

Fifo, Miraldi. "Measuring Combinatorial Coverage of Manual Testing."

Abstract:
Introduction: Software testing is a very important activity which assures the quality of the software under test. It becomes crucial in safety-critical systems, where an unexpected behavior of the software can even cause loss of human life or environmental disasters. However, in such complex systems it becomes infeasible to test all possible software scenarios for possible faults. Experience shows that software faults, which can cause unexpected software behavior, are caused by the interactions of variables of the tests. Combinatorial testing is the technique which focuses on the variable interactions of the tests and aims to reduce the number of tests needed to cover all software scenarios while still preserving a high fault detection rate. Background: Manual testing is the technique used to assure software quality in Bombardier Transportation AB, a Swedish company whose focus is on rail transport and development of trains. Since this process depends on the skills of the engineers, it can result in a large portion of tests not created and consequently in a large number of scenarios uncovered with tests. Therefore, combinatorial testing technique is used to measure the combinatorial coverage of these tests created from experienced engineers. Many comparisons of manual testing and other testing techniques in terms of test coverage, code coverage or mutation analysis. To the best of our knowledge there are no other studies in literature that have measured the combinatorial coverage of manual tests designed from experienced engineers, for different strength interactions of the variables of the tests nor other available tools that generate the number of missing tests to achieve full combinatorial coverage for specific interactions. Aim: The goal of this thesis is to answer the two research questions: RQ1. What is the combinatorial coverage achieved by tests manually created by experienced engineers in industry? RQ2. Can the effectiveness of manually created tests be improved in terms of combinatorial coverage using combinatorial testing? Method: In this thesis we investigate the combinatorial coverage of manually created tests by engineers working in industry and the implications of using combinatorial testing in practice. The Combinatorial Coverage Measurement2(CCM) NIST tool is used to measure the test coverage achieved. The research questions are answered by the following steps: 1) Review the scientific literature for related work, 2) Refine thesis research questions based on the previous step, 3) Propose the case study design and perform the measurements needed for data analysis, 4) and the results are analyzed and discussed in terms of test efficiency (i.e., number of test cases) and effectiveness (i.e., achieved combinatorial coverage). Results: The 2-way interaction combinatorial coverage achieved by manual tests is 78.6% on average, 57% for 3-way combinatorial coverage, 40.2% for 4-way combinatorial coverage, 20.2% for 5-way combinatorial coverage and 13% for 6-way combinatorial coverage. Full combinatorial coverage can be achieved for 2-way and 3-way interactions by adding eight and 66 missing tests on average, respectively. For 4-way interactions full combinatorial coverage can achieved by adding 658 missing tests. For 5-way and 6-way interactions full combinatorial coverage can be achieved by adding 5163 and 6170 missing tests on average respectively. Conclusion: The combinatorial coverage decreases as the strength of interactions increases. The effectiveness of the tests can be improved for 2-way and 3-way interactions and fully or partially improved for 4-way interactions, depending on the decision of engineers to add all missing tests or part of them, since the number of missing tests is increasing significantly, thus resulting in a very large number of tests to be added. It is not particularly efficient to improve test effectiveness by augmenting manual tests cases using combinatorial testing for higher strength interactions, since in most of the tests suites we studied one would need to generate additional 10.000 missing tests. This is explained by the exponential growth of the number of variable combination for such interactions.

Abstract:
Electronic document handling was first used in the automotive industry in the early 1970’s, the way of communicating electronic at the time was concerned with the communication way of EDI (Hsieh, 2004). In the beginning of 2000 a new way of communicating electronic documents was introduced with the emergence of VAN-operators (Hsieh, 2004). This technology of communicating electronic invoices has shown to be less complex for the businesses than the previous EDI connections. The VAN-operators enable companies regardless of size, ERP, also known as Enterprise Resource Planning, system, formats or transaction volume to send and receive electronic invoices. The subject of electronic invoice handling have become increasingly debated, mainly because of the legislations taking place all over Europe, and as well as the environmental impact by business transactions being sent by paper. The objective of this thesis is to examine the challenges, solutions and outcomes for companies switching to electronic invoice handling. The data collected for the thesis is divided into two parts. The first part consist of information retrieved by previous literature as well as internet sources. The second part concerns the case studies conducted for the thesis in respect to our research questions. For this reason Scandinavian companies have been interviewed, with different precondition as in size, industry, transaction volume and IT structure. The findings from the first and second part have been analyzed and conclusion have been made, we suggest using a VAN-operators, which have shown to be the most appropriate alternative for companies that are implementing electronic invoice handling. The result of this thesis can be used as a guideline for companies when considering a switch from manual to electronic invoice handling.

Canan, Ozgen. "Generating Motion-economical Plans For Manual Operations." Master's thesis, METU, 2005. http://etd.lib.metu.edu.tr/upload/12606524/index.pdf.

Full text
Abstract:
This thesis discusses applying AI planning tools for generating plans for manual operations. Expertise of motion economy domain is used to select good plans among feasible ones. Motion economy is a field of industrial engineering, which deals with observing, reporting and improving manual operations. Motion economy knowledge is organized in principles regarding the sequences and characteristics of motions, arrangement of workspace, design of tools etc. A representation scheme is developed for products, workspace and hand motions of manual operations. Operation plans are generated using a forward chaining planner (TLPLAN). Planner and representation of domain have extensions compared to a standard forward chaining planner, for supporting concurrency, actions with resources and actions with durations. We formulated principles of motion economy as search control temporal formulas. In addition to motion economy rules, we developed rules for simulating common sense of humans and goal-related rules for preventing absurd sequences of actions in the plans. Search control rules constrain the problem and reduce search complexity. Plans are evaluated during search. Paths, which are not in conformity with the principles of motion economy, are pruned with motion economy rules. Sample problems are represented and solved. Diversity of types of these problems shows the generality of representation scheme. In experimental runs, effects of motion economy principles on the generation of plans are observed and analyzed.

Abstract:
The objective of this thesis is to investigate how the onboard battery of a quadcopter can be charged through manual rotation of its motors, while understanding the resulting aerodynamical forces acting on the rotors during hover, as well as considering the changes in thrust capabilities when the electronic and structural design are altered. A theoretical approach using the momentum theory will present a general understanding of rotor performance whilst describing the correlation between rotor parameters, thrust and mechanical power. Furthermore, the idea of using the motors as generators are put under study to investigate their electrical output and utilize them to recharge the battery. This is done using the counter electromotive force equation, and a sequence of other equations that will present numerical data of actual manual work converted into electrical power. Resulting in the required time to manually recharge the quadcopter subsequently sustaining hover flight for three minutes. It is concluded in this report that manual recharging of the battery using the motors as generators is possible, as well as maintaining its flying ability in case of added weight. Although not deemed practical in commercial use, it is a new methodology with the intention to develop a sustainable quadcopter further expanding its practical applications in both aviation industry and human aid.

Abstract:
An empirical investigation of the security flaws and features of an in-use modern electronic health record system is performed. The investigation was carried out using dynamic analysis, manual testing and interviews with developers. The results indicate that in-use electronic health record systems suffer from serious authentication flaws, arising from the interaction of many different proprietary systems. The authentication problems are so severe that gaining access to any user’s computer on the hospital intranet would compromise a large database of patient medical records, including radiological data regarding the patients. Common web vulnerabilities were also present, such as injections and incorrectly configured HTTP security headers. These vulnerabilities were heavily mitigated by the use of libraries for constructing web interfaces.

Abstract:
Valmet has received requests from customers to integrate manuals as part of the automation system. This report shows a concept of how that problem could be solved by incorporating manuals with functions and that the texts are available for reading. The goal is to be able to extract more information from HMI by integrating the operator and service manuals in the automation system. The method for this work was to start with a literature study on the topics: alarm, HMI and document integration. After a literature study, a development phase began that used the knowledge from the literature study to build the products. The final phase of the work was to test the functionality and evaluate the result. The result was a new alarm view with enhanced functionality, such as, for example, displaying additional information at clicks, an automatic maintenance system with low performance impact and PDF of the manuals available in HMI. The goals of the work are considered fulfilled since additional alarm information is available, a maintenance system is implemented, and the manual can be read in HMI. Future work could be to make the alarm view more robust by detecting and correcting errors, further integrating the contents of the manuals, possibly how to run the machine.

Abstract:
An innovative auxiliary control system is developed to cooperate with an unskilled welder in a manual GTAW in order to obtain a consistent welding performance. In the proposed system, a novel mobile sensing system is developed to non-intrusively monitor a manual GTAW by measuring three-dimensional (3D) weld pool surface. Specifically, a miniature structured-light laser amounted on torch projects a dot matrix pattern on weld pool surface during the process; Reflected by the weld pool surface, the laser pattern is intercepted by and imaged on the helmet glass, and recorded by a compact camera on it. Deformed reflection pattern contains the geometry information of weld pool, thus is utilized to reconstruct its $3$D surface. An innovative image processing algorithm and a reconstruction scheme have been developed for (3D) reconstruction. The real-time spatial relations of the torch and the helmet is formulated during welding. Two miniature wireless inertial measurement units (WIMU) are mounted on the torch and the helmet, respectively, to detect their rotation rates and accelerations. A quaternion based unscented Kalman filter (UKF) has been designed to estimate the helmet/torch orientations based on the data from the WIMUs. The distance between the torch and the helmet is measured using an extra structure-light low power laser pattern. Furthermore, human welder's behavior in welding performance has been studied, e.g., a welder`s adjustments on welding current were modeled as response to characteristic parameters of the three-dimensional weld pool surface. This response model as a controller is implemented both automatic and manual gas tungsten arc welding process to maintain a consistent full penetration.

Abstract:
The electricity system will go through massive changes in the coming years. Smartgrids are becoming more popular. The phasing out of fossil fuels in electricity production in favour of renewable power sources will entail challenges. To handle these challenges, the Swedish Energy Markets Inspectorate (Ei) has identified demand side flexibility as a partial solution. Ei has presented new functionality demands on electricity meters, which aim at working for an increase of demand side flexibility. The aim of this report is to investigate how smart meters and the new functionality demands contribute in making customers become more active, along with how customers can be motivated to change their behaviour. The findings from this report show that the new demands do not directly lead to more demand side flexibility. Instead they enable other actors to develop services that could lead to customers contributing with demand side flexibility. In the energy sector, it is assumed that customers need to see an economic benefit in order to contribute with flexibility. This report finds that this is not entirely the case. Customers can be motivated by other things, such as protecting the environment. Important factors for customers are that they experience the same comfort as before, along with simplicity. Therefore, automatic steering is the preferable option which might entail the need for economic subsidies since investing in automatic systems will be economically notable. Once a considerable amount of customers are contributing with flexibility, social pressure might motivate remaining customers to do the same.

This report is a description of a developed educational simulator over rail vehicles and its components. The simulator is a hardware-based prototype over a door system on rail vehi- cles. System specialists and technicians will use the prototype. The Simulator should give the user a technical demonstration on how components work in a door system. The proto- type consists of motor, switch, relay and sensor. The components are used for illustration of the functions in a door system on a rail vehicle. The educational simulator is controlled with a control unit and with pushbuttons for manual control. For demonstration of the boarding security an optical sensor is used as symbolize for the obstacle detection. The educational simulation has two embedded common faults: cable fault and ground fault. The instruction manual consists of a circuit diagram and is used for troubleshooting. The circuit diagram over the door system is used to find the faults and to correct them. The fault analysis includes the factors, which is the reason for the most common faults to occur in a rail vehicle. Door system receives diagnostic code from a door computer that control priori- tizing for arrangements that will be made.

Continuous Acquisition and Life-cycle Support(CALS) was set into action, and have had planned the visions of the Army integrated logistics support. One of the most important applications is interactive electronic technical manual (IETM). Although CALS strategy has been strenuously promoted from the past few years in Taiwan military, the techniques of implementing IETM systems are rarely realistic experience. Justly the time of government forced to develop the civil strategy of self-defense industry, practicable issues of CALS strategy are the trends that forced civil organizations follow the same standards. How to improve the situation of producing technical manuals which satisfied hierarchy structure document specifications of CALS strategy and produce IETM in class 3, 4 or higher are one of the most critical tasks. The purpose of this dissertation is to propose a new methodology and construct an advanced electronic environment for developing ETM in Taiwan after the structure analysis, design, and implementation of electronic technical manuals for military weapon systems. The advanced electronic environment provides the interchange technical information into IETM database for the further integrated to produce IETM in class 3, 4 or higher. We hope that this dissertation could give a realistically experience of implementing IETM relevance system for Taiwan military in the trends of self-defense strategy.

The Continuous Acquisition and Life-cycle Support(CALS) strategy is to construct an important integrated military logistic facility by creating common operating environment (COE).It make military logistic information can do “Create once, use forever. ” The system will benefit from the interactive electronic technical manual (IETM) standard. It will makes the logistic information to be controlled effectively, and utilize every logistic facility perfectly, to avoid resource’s reduplicate invest and waste. As the Internet technology becomes more mature and more popular, mobile leaning prevail between everyone, it is more convenient to get real-time information. If R.O.C. military can catch up with the trend, to combine traditional manual with Internet technology, the manual will become a portable aided system to be browsed and learned every time. It will be the milestone in the history of military weapon. This paper shows three researches: the modification of IETM GUI standard, the integrated infrastructure of cross platform combining Internet, and an initial development of the portable IETM system. We take an infrastructure and implementation of Pocket IETM, and develop the M60A3 model system on Microsoft dotNet platform, to make the logistics information not limit on any platform.

Abstract:
Procurement is the acquisition of goods or services at the best possible total cost of ownership, in the correct quantity, at the correct time, in the correct place for the direct benefit or use of corporations, governments or individuals (Procurement 2005). Electronic procurement is the fulfillment of the procurement function by use of the Internet and new technologies to facilitate a seamless, end-to-end stream of strategic procurement activities enabling improved responsiveness and analysis within the procurement organisation (Wheatley 2003). The aim of the study was to identify the effectiveness and efficiency of the current procurement processes in place at UTi Domestic and to investigate the feasibility of using Electronic Procurement as a possible mechanism for Business Process Re-Engineering within UTi Domestic, to streamline and add value to the overall procurement function. This study was undertaken at UTi domestic in Johannesburg. Questionnaires were used to collect data. In total, twenty-eight procurement staff members and six management members completed separate questionnaires. One hundred percent response rate was achieved for both groups. The procurement staff completed a structured questionnaire while management were asked unstructured questions. Data obtained from the questionnaires were analysed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS). The findings of the study indicated that the procurement process at UTi Domestic was inefficient and ineffective. The procurement process was in need of redesign. Controversy existed between management and procurement staff over whether e-procurement would be the solution to the procurement problem. The researcher recommended the implementation of an e-procurement solution as a resolution to the procurement problem, based on the value potential of the solution and the ability of the solution to positively satisfy all of the aims of the study. As supported by the literature, e-procurement can make a significant difference to UTi Domestic.

Kirby, Alison L. "Reflections on the Canadian payments systems: from manual clearing to electronic funds transfers." Thesis, 1996. http://hdl.handle.net/2429/5704.

Abstract:
The Canadian payments system encompasses not only those traditional systems which facilitate the processing of paper payment instructions through the Automated Clearing and Settlement System (ACSS) and or the Bank of Canada but those electronic funds transfer (EFT) systems which are capable of processing payment instructions in purely electronic form. Access to the payments system is a key element in the retail and financial services sectors' bid to remain competitive on both national and global scales. Moreover, a complete system of electronic payments will eventually reduce the need for credit cards and, to the extent that it increases the use of deposits for payment purposes, it will reduce the need for currency and cheques as well. In other words, a truly national electronic funds transfer system will act not only as a "payments system" or financial communications system that will carry payment instructions but a "payment mechanism" which will replace payment for goods and services by cash or cheques. This paper provides an overview of the national payments systems and identifies some of the problems which have arisen as a result of the changes to the largely paper based systems brought about by the electronic banking age. It identifies the technological advances made in the payments area, the traditional right or obligation arising as a result of the bank-customer relationship, if any, which has been effected by the technological advance, it briefly examines how the technological advance impacts on this right or obligation; and it raises questions about whether the traditional right or obligation needs to be protected, modified or eliminated and, if so, in what matter. In the end, it is hoped that this paper will serve as a wake up call to consumers and academics about the importance of and the need for greater access to information about the national payments system.

The domain of tridimensional modelling contains two major approaches: manual modelling and procedural modeling. In the first, the user models the object interacting directly with the result through virtual tools which, in some cases, work similarly to those utilized by modelers in real objects; thus allowing for direct and rigorous control over what is being produced. In procedural modelling, the objects are created automatically through several user-defined conditions, by textual rules in a dedicated language or data-flow graphs, allowing for quick and large-scale production of 3D content. On the other hand, interaction with these methods isn't always the most intuitive. The early information transmission mediums depend on mainly paper documents. Although the paper document is inconvenient in the maintenance, it has brought about interactive electronic technical manual's(IETM) concepts to come with the tide of fashion. IETM provides a large number of benefits that paper documents lack. The advantages make information management convenient in the maintenance, reduce the cost in the training, help users operate it easily, and so on. In this thesis, we try to combine eXtensible Markup Language (XML), a standard of electronic data interchange(EDI), with object-orient database technology to construct an IETM management system. This kind of XML documents in this system which we used conform to MIL-87269 IETM specifications. Through XML parser, we can make document instance(DI) translate into object-oriented database manipulation language codes and store them into object-oriented database(OODB). Again, extracting parts of information from database are to translate them into some language codes regarded as production rules of an intelligent interactive user interface. By means of this user interface, the system can assist users to focus on the questions of specific engine faults troubleshooting and provide the appropriate solutions.

Abstract:
Over the past decade the United States Army has used a Full-Authority Digital Electronic Control (FADEC) system to control fuel flow to the engine of the OH-58D helicopter. Currently, part of the training is primarily conducted for the scenario of a FADEC system failure in the aircraft. Because of the complexity of this task, a number of accidents have occurred resulting in minor to severe damage to the aircraft. The United States Army has recently fielded two OH-58D Operational Flight Training Simulators in an effort to increase training efficiency and effectiveness. It is anticipated that the simulators will provide a safer environment and an effected transfer of training to the aircraft. Currently the OH-58D training unit has implemented the simulator into the manual throttle stage of training. This implementation has occurred through verification and validation of the Program of Instruction (POI) currently in use. An investigation into the transfer of training from the simulator to the aircraft was conducted to further optimize the distributions of training time in the simulator versus the aircraft. The primary source of data was collected from aircraft and simulator trials and flight hours to evaluate the transfer effectiveness ratio. The secondary source of data was collected through the use of pilot surveys and questionnaires. The pilots reported a mean workload rating of 2.52 using the Bedford Workload Rating Scale in the aircraft after the simulator, which indicates a low workload. The Pilots reported mild to moderate simulator sickness symptoms after flying in the simulator. A total severity score of 20.06 was computed through the use of the Simulator Sickness Questionnaire. When compared to other helicopter simulators this score is fairly high. Overall there were low Pilot-Vehicle Interface problems in the simulator and aircraft. There was no decline in Situational Awareness from the simulator to the aircraft. The overall Transfer Effectiveness Ratios indicated a positive Transfer of Training. The current Program of Instruction and simulator hours are validated. The focus in the simulator should be placed on Method of Instructions step two “failure at a hover” and step four “running landing or approach to a hover.”

Abstract Objective:This study aims to use the base frequencies of sounds to compare the declination of string’s tension between strings threaded by a electronic stringing machine and by a manual stringing machine under three treading poundage settings (20 pounds, 24 pounds and 28 pounds). Method: The racket is fixed horizontally on the desktop with an all-power clap, and a badminton ball hits the center of the racket in a free-fall manner. A microphone is connected to a MSI GT60 notebook computer to collect sounds, which are recorded and processed with the Audacity software and then exported to Excal to distinguish the base frequencies of sounds from the impacts. Then they are compared and analyzed with a hybrid-designed two-factor variance through the SPSS12.0 statistical software. The significant level is set at α = 0.05.Results: 1.There is an interaction between the declination of string’s tension and different treading machines under the three different treading poundage settings (F=3.577,p=.046<.05), and the significant level is reached. 2.The significant level is reached when different stringing machines are under the 20 pounds treading poundage setting (F=13.0704, p=0.009<0.05), but the significant level is not reached under 24 pounds and 28 pounds. 3.The declination of string’s tension is less on a manual stringing machine than on a computer-controlled stringing machine.Conclusions:1.At the 20 pounds treading poundage setting threading with different stringing machines will affect the declination of string’s tension.2.The research results show that the declination of string’s tension is less on a manual stringing machine than on a computer-controlled stringing machine.

Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to investigate challenges experienced by nurses in the use of electronic whiteboards at one private hospital in the Gauteng province in South Africa. The researcher had observed a continuation of use of the manual dry-erase patient whiteboards in parallel to the use of new the electronic whiteboards in a ward, yet the electronic whiteboard had been implemented to replace the manual system in order to improve service delivery. A descriptive, quantitative study design was used for the study, with n=83 participants being voluntarily surveyed at the hospital over a one month period. The major findings were that the new electronic whiteboards were not always online which necessitated a parallel manual system as backup. Secondly, 47.5% of the respondents requested more training on the whiteboards. A needs assessment to determine training requirements and further investigation into the frequent unavailability of the electronic whiteboards is recommended

Abstract:
No caso do Centro Hospitalar do Porto (CHP), a plataforma utilizada é o AIDA-PCE.
In health business, the healthcare information systems (SIH) keep all the information related to a pacient ant the hospital itself. In order to be able to share between different SIH, there must be a platform to integrate and share all the information. In the case of the Hospital Center of Porto (CHP), the platform used is the AIDA-PCE. In this dissertation it's intend to make a prototype of a documentation manual for the electronic health process (PCE) and evaluate its acceptance, to enumerate potential improvements to this manual that reduce and optimize the time of use and to increase the acceptance of this by the PCE users. Through the Electronic Medical Records (EMRAM) adoption model, a way of improving the use of the platform was studied in order to improve the rating assigned by this model. It was stated as necessary that an online documentation manual must be developed to guide users more quickly and effectively. Using a research and benchmarking it was possible to choose a tool to elaborate a prototype of this manual. To evaluate the acceptance of health professionals and the impact on their behavior of the use of the manual was required the use of the Technology Acceptance Model 3 (TAM 3). To do so, through the Delphi method, questionnaires were prepared, distributed and answered by health professionals. After this phase was completed, an analysis was performed on the responses, based on the TAM 3 methodology, and dashboards were constructed with the processed data of the questionnaires.
