Abstract:
The electric railways is a specific consumer of the electric power system. For the purpose of using electric energy rationally and making adequate savings, efforts are made to optimize electric energy consumption of electric trains and other electric railway facilities. The work shows the train movement simulation algorithm which serves to determine primarily the mechanical and then also the electric power required for traction. The sections of the electrified tracks are supplied from the electric traction substation (TS) and, for the requirements of the electric traction calculation, an electric network is formed. Based on the maximum time table for a certain time period, calculation is done of the electric circumstances; electricity, voltage, electric power, as well as the total consumed electric energy. For the determination of the electric energy supply of the traction unit, movement resistances of the certain train on each section need to be calculated. Input data necessary for such a calculation are the tracks profile parameters, planned movement speeds on certain sections, and the properties of the train and the locomotive. Besides the train movement simulation model, the article also shows the analysis of impact factors on the electric energy consumption for the electromotor train which travels the Croatian suburban rails. The results are obtained by the train movement simulation algorithm, by virtue of which the locations of trains are calculated, as well as their mechanical and electric powers necessary for traction. The particular example of the supply of the existing SS serves for comparing the results obtained by electric traction calculation and measurement. Some of the results are given of the electric traction simulation for the Zaprešić SS at the supply of the suburban Podsused factory − Samobor − Bregana which is planned for construction.

Abstract:
This paper investigates the impact of different sources of CO2 emissions together with electric power consumption on per capita GDP in Côte d’Ivoire with data ranging from 1970 to 2019. We found cointegration relationships between per capita GDP and the variables of interest. CO2 emissions, CO2 emissions from liquid fuel consumption, electric power consumption and investment have positive impact on per capita GDP. A simultaneous increase of electric power consumption and CO2 emissions in the long run has a negative impact on per capita GDP. Causality runs from CO2 emissions, electric power consumption and investment to per capita GDP. In the short run, electric power consumption positively impacts per capita GDP. Labor force has a negative impact on per capita GDP. Causality runs from electric power consumption to per capita GDP. Similar results are obtained when CO2 emissions from liquid fuel consumption are used in place of global CO2 emissions.

Abstract:
Many consumers of electric power have excesses in their electric power consumptions that exceed the permissible limit by the electrical power distribution stations, and then we proposed a validation approach that works intelligently by applying machine learning (ML) technology to teach electrical consumers how to properly consume without wasting energy expended. The validation approach is one of a large combination of intelligent processes related to energy consumption which is called the efficient energy consumption management (EECM) approaches, and it connected with the internet of things (IoT) technology to be linked to Google Firebase Cloud where a utility center used to check whether the consumption of the efficient energy is satisfied. It divides the measured data for actual power (A_p ) of the electrical model into two portions: the training portion is selected for different maximum actual powers, and the validation portion is determined based on the minimum output power consumption and then used for comparison with the actual required input power. Simulation results show the energy expenditure problem can be solved with good accuracy in energy consumption by reducing the maximum rate (A_p ) in a given time (24) hours for a single house, as well as electricity’s bill cost, is reduced.

Abstract:
The Home Energy Management System (HEMS) is a system for the efficient electric power consumption of each household. It can provide real-time electricity cost information according to electricity consumption, and households can immediately control their consumption of electricity. In this study, we analyzed the effects of the HEMS on the stability of demand for electric power. To do this, we analyzed the causal relationship between the amounts of electric power generation and consumption, from the system dynamics perspective. From the analysis, we found that in the current structure, the fluctuation of the quantity of demand became large due to the time delay in households recognizing the electric bill and adjusting their electric power consumption. However, when the HEMS was introduced, it could be seen that electric power demand remained stable since consumers could see their electricity bill in real-time and could manage their electricity consumption by themselves.

Abstract:
Basing on the experiment and design data of the two solar desalination systems by bubbling humidification, the GOR (gain output ratio), R (electric power consumption of unit freshwater output) and C (freshwater production cost) are calculated and compared. It's obtained when the humidifying temperature is increased, GOR is increased, while R and C are decreased; if the humidifying temperature increased by 10°C, C would be reduced by half. The electric power consumptions of the systems mainly depend on the blower’s consumption, while the electric power consumed by seawater pumps is little. It is the guide and basis for reducing the freshwater production cost and further improving the rationality of process.

Abstract:
The article presents an analysis of the use of correlation-regression analysis, which is based on the methods of mathematical statistics and probability theory in the study of the power consumption of enterprises with equipment of continuous production. On the basis of the annual power consumption schedule of the electric steel-smelting shop in a monthly time section, mathematical models have been developed for the power consumption parameters. And also, on the basis of statistical data with the use of a mathematical method, mathematical expressions were obtained for the electric power consumption and the specific consumption for the main equipment of the electric steel-smelting shop. In order to assess the adequacy of the developed mathematical models, mathematical models of the total and specific consumption of their power consumption are compared with actual data. The comparison results show high reliability of the power consumption modes of the main equipment of the facility in question. The analysis of the values of forecast errors with low error rates determines the adequacy of the developed mathematical models of the parameters of power consumption in terms of power consumption and specific consumption for the main equipment of the electric steel-smelting shop. In this regard, they can be used to determine the predicted values of the parameters of power consumption in electric steelmaking equipment.

With the rapid development of wind power, the randomness and volatility of wind power have also caused severe problems of wind power consumption. The phenomenon of wind abandonment is particularly prominent in the "three north" areas. The environmental protection and controllability of regenerative electric heating provide a way for wind absorption and abandonment. Therefore, this paper proposes a model to promote wind power consumption by using regenerative electric heating. Firstly, the principle and advantages of the heat storage electric heating equipment are described; secondly, the fine modeling of regenerative electric heating is carried out;then, the mode of using regenerative electric heating to promote wind power consumption is designed;finally, an example is given to analyze the wind power consumption effect and the revenue of load aggregators. Therefore, it is verified that this mode can effectively promote wind power consumption and reduce wind abandon generation, and provide reference for alleviating wind abandon and power limit problem.

Abstract:
Energy efficiency of transportation process is constantly in the center of attention of specialists and managers of Russian Railways. Some of the new electric locomotives purchased under the investment project have shown unsatisfactory results on electric power consumption. According to the management of the JSC “Russian Railways”, electric locomotives EP20, designed for two types of current, have the highest specific energy consumption. These are modern electric locomotives with powerful asynchronous traction motors. Electric locomotives typically operate in passenger traffic. The purpose of the research was to analyze the accounting of energy consumption of passenger electric locomotives in the locomotive operating depots. The article provides results of a comparative statistical analysis of primary materials on the energy consumption of passenger electric locomotives EP20 and other series of electric locomotives such as EP2K DC and EP1M AC. According to the primary materials from the locomotive operational depots, it was found that passenger electric locomotives with trains of double-decker passenger cars have the highest specific energy consumption. Comparison of specific electric power consumption by electric locomotives with single-type passenger cars showed that with DC electric traction, the consumption level of the EP20 significantly exceeds the consumption of the electric locomotives EP2K; with an AC electric traction, the flow rate of the EP20 is almost equal to the specific electric power consumption of the EP1M electric locomotives. A comparative analysis of the load of EP20 electric locomotives during the maintenance of passenger trains allocated for it in the Moscow — Adler section showed that the electric locomotive was underloaded, which causes a decrease in its efficiency and, as a result, over-consumption of electricity. The use of high-power brake resistors will lead to energy consumption, which must be taken into account in the life cycle cost of EP20 electric locomotives.

Abstract:
This paper examined the causal relationships between per capita electric power consumption and economic growth per capita in Malaysia and Thailand. The data used in this study was the yearly data from 1971 to 2014. The ARDL and Granger causality approaches were employed. Overall, the empirical results showed that it had established a long-run relationship between electric power consumption and economic growth. Moreover, the Granger causality approach recognized a one-way causal direction flowing from economic growth to electric power consumption in Malaysia. However, for Thailand, empirical results had no long-run relationship between electric power consumption and economic growth. Therefore, the Granger causality approach had recognized no way of causal direction flowing from electric power consumption to economic growth. Finally, the empirical results of this study provided policymakers a better understanding of energy consumption and economic growth nexus to formulate energy policy in Malaysia and Thailand. In addition, the government of Malaysia should consider the economic situation when implementing the relevant energy policies.

Abstract:
The purpose of this work is a quantitative definition of electric power loss in a railway contact network. Electric locomotive power supply is carried out from traction substations through a contact network. During electric locomotive operation power losses take place in a contact network as a result of which voltage decreases on the electric locomotive pantograph and also decreases electric motive power efficiency. Such losses of power and voltage depend upon electric locomotive location in an inter-substation area, its power realized and a power factor. At the same time current consumed by an electric locomotive contains higher harmonics which can cause additional losses in a contact network. For the definition of a loss level there was carried out a computer modeling with the use of Cadence OrCAD program. During modeling there was simulated an electric locomotive operation in a contact network area. The modeling results have shown to what extent a current form of an electric locomotive differs at different quality of power consumption. The quantitative values of the computation characterize the level of power and voltage losses at different forms of power consumption. It is proved that the use of the ideal compensator for a phase alignment is less efficient than the use of the passive compensator of jet power. It tells of that along with the phase alignment it is necessary to pay a particular regard to the harmonic distortion of power consumption.

Abstract:
The study refers to optimizing energy consumption from electric trains, underground trains and electric locomotives. The actual requirements of the dynamic market economy are forcing the railway system to transform into a reliable alternative to the road and air traffic. From this perspective, the railways have to fulfill two key elements: Economical efficiency and reliability and to offer what the potential customer needs. One of the main elements is the respect of the timetables or (if possible) the decrease of the running times. The running time is the main referential, especially when it’s related to the power consumption. The optimization of the running times and the power consumption is the most important target for railway operators and depends on the correct choice of the drive regimes. Article deals with energy optimization from the perspective of traction. Analysis can be applied also to diesel railcars and diesel locomotives.

In this paper, the authors present a data analysis and estimation procedure of electrical power consumption under uncertain conditions. Tiraditional methods are based on statistical and probabilistic approaches but it may not be quite suitable to apply purely stochastic models to the data generated by human activities such as the power consumption. The authors introduce a new approach based on possibility theory and fuzzy autoregression, and apply it to the analysis of time-series data of electric power consumption. Two models, which are different in complexity, are presented, and the performance of the models are evaluated by vagueness and α-cuts. The proposed fuzzy Auoregression model represents the rich information of uncertainty that the original data contain, and it can be a powerful tool for flexible decision-making with uncertainty. The fuzzy AR model can also be constructed in relatively simple procedure compared with the conventional approaches.

Abstract:
Reducing electricity losses in electrical networks is a complex complex problem that requires significant capital investments necessary for optimizing the development of electrical networks, improving the electricity accounting system, introducing new information technologies in marketing activities and managing network modes, training personnel and equipping them with means of testing measuring devices etc. In reality, in recent years, in connection with the inclusion of normative losses in the tariff for electric energy transmission services, a dangerous trend of adapting these norms to actual losses has emerged. The article analyzes the occurrence of power losses in electrical engineering systems and electrical networks of various voltage classes. Special attention is paid to the so-called excess losses, which are not taken into account during design and operation. These losses occur in insulators, linear fittings, current-limiting reactors, electricity meters, windings of current and voltage transformers, etc. Excessive losses of electricity in electric networks are direct financial losses of electric power companies. Savings from reducing losses could be directed to technical re-equipment of networks; staff salary increase; improvement of the organization of electricity transmission and distribution; increasing the reliability and quality of electricity supply to consumers. Unaccounted losses reach approximately 1% of the total amount. This fact must be taken into account. Because currently we are talking about millions of losses.

Abstract:
Electric grid power consumption load is one of the fundamental areas that need to be faced to provide a sustainable and green ecosystem in smart cities. Consumption load as well as supply and availability of electricity to suppliers and customers is a major issue to be faced to have a balanced smart city power grid infrastructure. Balancing in this case is assumed as a well-designed supply chain management system to be applied in the Smart City (SC) of Athens, Greece. Core of such a system is the knowledge of electric power consumption load per weekly basis of a year, that is the granularity of the proposed system is one week of the system’s operation. In this paper, focus is given on the electric load forecast component of an Energy Management System (EMS) such as the Independent Power Transmission Operator (ITPO) of Greece. Concretely, stochastic data of electric energy consumption load are used to predict the demand or offering of electric power in the future. This is achieved by incorporating a machine learning second-order exponential smoothing algorithm. Such an algorithm is able to speculate near or far in the future power consumption load thus providing a promising parameter to predict smart city needs for electric power in the future. Adopted system is evaluated by the evaluation metric of Normalized Root Mean Square Error (NRMSE), which assures that the system can be used for future predictions of electric power consumption load in smart cities.

Abstract:
The consumption of electricity in Malaysia increase in demand as one of the driving forces of economic development. The main source of electric power generation in Malaysia depends on fossil fuels which lead to air pollution currently and a shortage of natural resources (fossil) in the future if this method continues. Moreover, this will cause a serious problem such as sustainability of energy choice and will harm the environment. This study investigates the relationship between climate variables and electric power consumption in Malaysia. The important climate variables included such as average temperature, average rainfall, forest area, carbon dioxide emission and arable land over a period of 1991 to 2015. Augmented Dickey-Fuller unit root test shows that average rainfall, average temperature, and electrical power consumption stationary at their level. However, forest area, carbon dioxide emission, and arable land stationary after first differences. The result of this study indicates that electric power consumption has a long-run relationship between average temperature and average rainfall. This indicates that electric power consumption has an impact on climate change in Malaysia. These studies also find evidence that unidirectional causality between electric power consumption and climate factors. Overall, the wise consumption of electricity and adopting renewable energy to generate electricity will reduce carbon emission in Malaysia.

Abstract:
This article describes an investigation on the energy consumption of an alternative hybrid electric power steering system. The conventional hydraulic power steering system that is widely used in commercial vehicles can provide high steering-feel and reliability performances. However, since the combustion engine drives the pump, the hydraulic power steering system is energetically inefficient. To cope with this disadvantage of the hydraulic power steering system and to provide a technical base for the steering-related advanced driver assistance system, the Hybrid electric power steering system offers a solution for heavy commercial vehicles. The “Hybrid” of the title means that, for heavy commercial vehicles, the electric power steering system and electro-hydraulic power steering system are integrated in a ball-nut steering system. In this paper, to verify the energy-saving effect of the Hybrid electric power steering system, a dynamic model of the Hybrid electric power steering system was developed to estimate the energy consumption in the steering system. Furthermore, the fuel-efficiency test for the Hybrid electric power steering system were conducted while replacing the two steering systems (the conventional hydraulic power steering and Hybrid electric power steering system) in one vehicle on the chassis dynamometer for the proposed driving cycle. The driving cycle including the steering-angle profile has been developed to clearly investigate the effect on the energy-saving potential by the types of the steering system (hydraulic power steering and Hybrid electric power steering). The simulation results of the energy-consumption estimation showed that the hybrid electric power steering system can reduce the steering-system energy consumption by more than 50% under the proposed driving cycle. Also, the vehicle testing of the chassis dynamometer revealed that the Hybrid electric power steering system can improve the fuel efficiency of the vehicle by 1% for the specified driving cycle.

Abstract:
Pure electric vehicles are a hot topic in today’s social development. From beginning to end, the energy density of power batteries in pure electric vehicles is generally low, resulting in short range, inaccurate range estimation, and driver anxiety. This is also one of the reasons that hinder the promotion of pure electric vehicles. This article discusses the energy consumption of pure electric vehicles based on actual road tests. By comparing the battery energy efficiency of various roads (including urban roads, suburban roads, and highways) using electric vehicles from Guangzhou to Qingyuan, the energy consumption patterns of pure electric vehicles are analyzed. Experiments have shown that continuously improving the energy density of power batteries is the key technology to solve the problem of insufficient range for electric vehicles. Based on the existing power battery technology, this study investigates the relationship between energy consumption and various factors affecting electric vehicles, which can provide better reference for drivers to predict energy consumption and range.

Abstract:
The paper considers the issue of organization of control of electric power consumption by electric rolling stock by visualizing information on the monitor of the driver's console. With the correct analysis of information coming on board of the electric rolling stock, the train driver makes correction of the driving modes of the train in terms of energy efficiency. In this paper, to visualize information on the efficiency of power consumption by an electric rolling stock on the route, the authors propose using an indicator diagram using a green, white, and orange gradient. The variant of output of the final information on the efficiency of power consumption of electrical energy by an electric rolling stock both within the distances operated by the locomotive crews and within the hauls to the monitor of the driver's console is presented. One of the main advantages of using the technology of visual control of electric power consumption by electric rolling stock is the promptness of correction of decision-making on the rational use of energy resources, the identification of objective reasons for the overspending of energy, and the identification of reference results for the driving of trains. The prospect of development of the research topic is the approbation and implementation of the proposed technical and technological solutions in the production, which will reduce the specific consumption and unproductive electric power losses within the boundaries of the railway accounting zones.

Abstract:
In recent years, the phenomenon of wind and solar energy abandoned in Xinjiang’s new energy has become severe, the contradiction between the supply and demand of the power grid is obvious, and the proportion of power in the energy consumption structure is relatively low, thus hindering the development of Xinjiang’s green power. In this context, the focus of Xinjiang’s power has shifted to promote the development of electric energy replacement. Therefore, using the Xinjiang region as an example, we first select the important indicators such as the terminal energy substitution in Xinjiang, added value of the secondary industry, population, terminal power consumption intensity, and per capita disposable income. Subsequently, eight combined forecasting models based on the grey model (GM), multiple linear regression (MLR), and error back propagation neural network (BP) are constructed to predict and analyse the electricity consumption of the whole society in Xinjiang. The results indicate the optimal weighted combination forecasting model, GM-MLR-BP of the induced ordered weighted harmonic averaging operator (IOWHA operator), exhibits better prediction accuracy, and the effectiveness of the proposed method is proven.

Abstract:
The paper considers a method of increasing the energy efficiency of the traction power consumption during operation of a non-autonomous electric rolling stock equipped with an onboard energy storage. The idea is to use the onboard energy storage of the electric braking as an additional power source for the traction electric drive in the process of vehicle acceleration and to coordinate its work with the power supply system. This not only ensures the independence of the processes of electric power consumption and kinetic energy recovery by the traction equipment, but also reduces losses in the elements of traction and external power supply systems. To confirm the effectiveness of the proposed method, we simulated the operation of a metro train with asynchronous traction electric drive in combination with the proposed system. The results obtained, in this case, demonstrated a reduction of energy losses in the elements of the traction power supply system during the electric train acceleration by 45 % compared with the losses when using a regular traction drive system. Attention is paid to the factors and their characteristics that exert significant influence on the traction and electric braking processes.

Abstract:
In connection with the increasing fuel costs and decreasing incomes during the crisis electric vehicles are becoming more and more popular with drivers. With mass growth of using the electrical vehicles a possibility of transmission congestion can take place. While charging the vehicle by means of residential distribution there is a risk of facing electric power supply degradation and local accident conditions in grids. One of the basic current problems is that of the load curve irregularity, i.e. the existence of the peak hours and minimums in demand of the electric power. In its turn the load curve irregularity can cause unacceptable frequency oscillations in power systems. The development of charging station systems will lead to the increasing of the morning and evening demand of the electric power. It requires key investments in generators designing and improving the distribution networks, which in its turn will cause limitations in the number of charging stations and the electric vehicles expansion. Cost differentiation depending upon charging duration time can become an incentive to use charging stations during the periods of the minimum electric power consumption. A possibility of the electric vehicles usage as a means of smoothing the electric power consumption daily schedule is shown in the article. The evaluation of rationality of the electric vehicles integration as a power component in the network was made as well.

This study aims to identify the mechanical variables that exert the greatest influence on the consumption of traction energy in a metro-type system, estimate specific energy consumption in different operating scenarios associated with speed profiles in each section and establish specific reference consumptions that guide the identification of projects aimed at increasing energy efficiency, all estimated for when the first line of the Bogota Metro comes into operation. To achieve the previous objectives, this research was focused on the estimation, through a software application, of the specific consumption of electrical energy of the Metro System of the City of Bogota, for different operating scenarios. Results of simulations carried out with an application developed in Matlab, to generate speed profiles in the operation of the train, allow observing the sensitivity of the specific consumption of electrical energy in the face of changes made in the cruise speed and in the acceleration ramps and slowdown. The results show that the specific consumptions depends to a great extent, on the speed profiles, and consequently on the operation of the system, which opens an interesting field of application of optimization techniques oriented to the efficient use of energy in the future operation of the system.

Electricity information tracking systems are increasingly being adopted across China. Such systems can collect real-time power consumption data from users, and provide opportunities for artificial intelligence (AI) to help power companies and authorities make optimal demand-side management decisions. In this paper, we discuss power utilization improvement in Shandong Province, China with a deployed AI application - the Power Intelligent Decision Support (PIDS) platform. Based on improved short-term power consumption gap prediction, PIDS uses an optimal power adjustment plan which enables fine-grained Demand Response (DR) and Orderly Power Utilization (OPU) recommendations to ensure stable operation while minimizing power disruptions and improving fair treatment of participating companies. Abstract:
Abstract To address wind curtailment, a method is proposed to improve wind power consumption by controlling user demand response. Considering residents’ comfort demand for heating in winter, a distributed electric heating system is established and an optimal control model is established to enhance wind power consumption capacity. By considering the influence of electricity price and comparing the optimal model under basic tariffs, time-of-use and real-time tariffs, a dynamic optimal control method for distributed electric heating systems driven by electricity price leverage is proposed. The simulation results show that the method can effectively guide electric heating users to actively participate in load regulation, significantly improve wind curtailment and ensure economic and stable power grid operation. Using different electricity prices as leverage can systematically incorporate a large number of distributed electric heating users into the controllable load of wind power consumption, providing a new method for large-scale wind power consumption.
