Abstract:
There are 901 million people aged 60 years or over, comprising 12% of the world's population (Department of Economic and Social Affairs, 2015). The Morbidity rate in the elderly in 2015 was 28.62%, which means that for every 100 elderly people, 28 people are sick (Kemenkes RI, 2017). The utilization of health services in the elderly Posyandu is still far from the expected target. (Aprilia, 2019): out of 105 elderly, 65.7% do not regularly go to Posyandu in Pekanbaru. The data on elderly visits to the Banjar WangayaKaja elderly posyandu in the last three months were 41 elderly (29.31%). This study aims to analyze the obedience factor of the elderly in the utilization of posyandu services for the elderly.A cross-sectional study was conducted in Banjar WangayaKaja, Denpasar Utara in October-November 2019. The sample was 99 elderly with non-probability sampling technique, namely purposive sampling. Elderly who changed residence, were sick / hospitalized and totally dependent were not sampled. Demographic data, the distance from the elderly's house to the elderly posyandu and the knowledge of the elderly were obtained by distributing questionnaires, the attendance of the elderly was obtained based on attendance in the past one year. Multivariate analysis with logistic regression was carried out to obtain POR.There was a relationship between POR age = 0.17 (95% CI: 0.03-0.94), education POR = 2.71 (95% CI: 1.23-6.01) and the role of cadres POR = 59 , 64 (95% CI: 9,18-387,41) with elderly compliance in the utilization of posyandu services for the elderly. Factors that were not statistically found to be associated were gender (p-value: 0.552), occupation (p-value: 0.490), location distance to elderly posyandu (p-value: 0.009) and knowledge (p-value: 0.894). Cadres further enhance their roles, such as conducting home visits, as motivators as an effort to improve posyandu services for the elderly.

Abstract:
With the accelerating global aging population, solving eldercare issues has become a significant challenge, and smart community elderly care services based on big data and internet technology have emerged as a response. To further analyze the factors influencing the elderly’s willingness to participate in smart community elderly care services, this study first reviews relevant literature from the perspectives of smart community elderly care and willingness to participate, providing a theoretical basis for this paper. Next, to ensure the typicality of the research, Weifang City is selected as the study’s experimental site. Questionnaires were distributed to collect data on the elderly’s willingness to participate in smart community elderly care services, and univariate analysis was conducted for factor screening. The screened results were then analyzed using binary logistic regression. The results are mainly analyzed from three aspects: individual factors such as age, type of household registration, and occupation; family internal factors such as living situation, family support for participating in community elderly care, and external factors such as neighborhood relationships and exposure to privacy. These factors influence the elderly’s willingness to participate in smart community elderly care. Finally, through discussion, the study identifies existing problems and proposes measures to improve the elderly’s willingness to participate in smart community elderly care, such as providing demand-oriented services, updating elderly care concepts, and creating a favorable external environment.

Abstract:
Objectives The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of the elderly's participation in social activities on depression and to identify the difference between family types and age groups in the relationship between participation in social activities and depression. Methods The subjects of the study were 9,920 elderly people who participated in the survey on the status of the elderly (2020). The analysis method analyzed the collected data through multiple regression analysis and Chow test using SPSS 22.0. Results The results of the study are as follows. First, economic and leisure cultural activities were found to have a negative effect on depression in the elderly's participation in social activities. Second, the difference in age groups was significant in the relationship between social activities and depression of the elderly. In participation in social activities, it was found that the late elderly had more negative effects on both economic activities and leisure and cultural activities than the early elderly. Third, the difference in family types was significant in the relationship between the elderly's participation in social activities and depression. In participation in social activities, there were more significant negative differences in economic activities for the elderly living alone than for the elderly living alone, and there were more significant negative differences in leisure and cultural activities for the elderly living alone than for the elderly living alone. Conclusions Based on the above research results, practical measures according to family type and age group were proposed as a way to revitalize the elderly's participation in social activities to prevent depression in the elderly.

Abstract:
With the rapid decline in China’s fertility rate, the acceleration of aging, the continuous miniaturization and nucleation of China’s family structure, and the deterioration of the elderly’s living conditions and mental states, the elderly’s mental health has emerged as a major public health issue and a major social problem. Pensions are the elderly’s primary source of income, and they can help them meet their basic needs while also promoting family harmony and improving their mental health. Based on the data of the 2012, 2016, and 2018 Chinese Family Panel Studies (CFPS), we empirically examined the impact of pensions on the elderly’s mental health by using the fixed effects model, mediating effect model, and so on. The results show that receiving pension benefits can significantly reduce the level of depression and improve the mental health of the elderly. Receiving pension benefits causes reverse intergenerational economic transfer, which reduces the effect of pensions on the elderly’s mental health to some extent, but the life care and mental comfort provided by children increases when the elderly share pensions with their children. Overall, receiving pension benefits improves the mental health of the elderly. In addition, the effect of pensions on the elderly with different characteristics is heterogeneous. The older elderly, women, the elderly living with their children, and the elderly in rural areas all benefit more from receiving pension benefits. Moreover, the worse the mental health of the elderly is, the stronger the influence of pensions on their mental health is. Our discussion has important policy implications.

Abstract:
Background and purpose: The risk of hypertension increases in the elderly, while treatment adherence plays a crucial role in controlling blood pressure in the elderly. This study aims to explore the elderly's perception of hypertension and its treatment. Methods: This study used an exploratory qualitative design. Data were obtained through in-depth interviews about the elderly's perception of hypertension and its medication, health-seeking behavior, and cues to action in undergoing treatment for 6 elderlies with hypertension and 4 health workers in Gianyar District in July-September 2020. The data obtained were analyzed using thematic methods. Results: This study identified 2 big themes, namely the elderly's perception of hypertension and seeking behavior. The elderly's perception of hypertension is described from the perceived vulnerability from the aspect of age, lifestyle, and heredity. Hypertension is seen as a serious disease by the elderly, particularly from the complications aspect, while complaints felt are not considered serious unless they interfere with activities or have to undergo treatment. Reduced complaints and controlled blood pressure are the perceived benefits of treatment and lifestyle adjustments: long-term medication, side effects of drugs, and traditional medicine as obstacles for the elderly in undergoing treatment. The elderly seek treatment based on their trust and comfort in health workers, infrastructure, access to health services, and support from health workers and the government. Conclusion: The perception of barriers to treatment and health-seeking behavior of the elderly in seeking treatment play a significant role in determining the medicational therapy that the elderly undergoes, which can prevent complications. Family support for the elderly is essential in overcoming obstacles and increasing elderly adherence to medication.

Abstract:

The international concern about human rights, gender equality, domestic violence and the increase in the aging populations has brought elder abuse into the public focus. Elder abuse is a complex, multi-faceted health, social, criminal justice, international public health and human rights issue. The widely divergent and varying definitions is a controversial problem to understanding elder abuse. The elderly have been excluded from national gender-based programs on domestic violence and the abuse of women and children. In South Africa victims of elder abuse are often physically and or cognitively unable to speak for themselves which necessitates that the public be empowered and trained to become advocates for the aged. Lachs &
Pillemer ( 2004 : 1265 ) states that &ldquo
the physical and psychological impairement of elder persons could be predisposing factors for elder abuse &ldquo
. Statistical evidence on the incidence and prevalence rates of elder abuse is lacking as elderly persons are reluctant to identify care givers for fear of abandonment, retaliation and being left destitute ( Lachs &
Pillemer, 2004 : 1265 ). Despite the Bill of Rights as set out in the South African Constitution and the Older Persons Act, No. 13 of 2006 which was developed to deal with the empowerment and protection of elder persons and promote and maintain their status, rights, safety, security and well being the abuse of elder person continues to occur ( Older Persons Act, No. 13 of 2006 ). This qualitative research study is allied with the phenomenological approach in an attempt to understand elder person&rsquo
s perception, viewpoints and perspectives from their lived experiences and personal lives. Three (3) focus group discussions and eighteen (18) one-on-one interviews were conducted with elder persons living in the suburbs of Cape Town. Data from participants were audio-taped, transcribed verbatim before an inductive analysis lead to the emergence of broad themes and patterns. The main findings of the research study concluded that elderly persons were informed but not empowered about financial, emotional and verbal abuse. The abuse of the elder person in old age homes also featured prominently. The findings of the research study can be used to provide education and empower elder persons and the general public on specific aspects related to elder abuse which are : Financial, Emotional, Verbal and the abuse by staff at old age homes. These findings could be utilized by health and social welfare advocates and organisations who offer community educational and development programs to advocate against elder abuse.

Abstract:

This report presents findings from research in Ribáuè district, Nampula province, in northeast Mozambique. Our aim was to understand the living conditions of the impoverished elderly and identify strategies that may improve their situation. We conducted semi-structured interviews with elderly people, including some of the most vulnerable and some who receive income from the social assistance programme. To gain a wider context we met representatives of governmental and non-governmental organisations and referred to secondary sources.

We use the Sustainable Rural Livelihoods framework to present the capital assets (natural, social, financial, physical and human) of Ribáuè district and of its elderly inhabitants. We consider how access to assets is affected by political, economic and cultural factors in the community. We set the situation of the elderly against the development history of postindependence Mozambique, and international concern about poverty, the ageing population and their human rights.

We find that social assets in the form of human relationships, and natural assets in the form of land, are essential for elderly people’s livelihoods. Most of the elderly have very limited access to financial assets, apart from the few who receive social ssistance. This programme makes a very small but appreciated contribution to family welfare. However the programme’s reach has been limited geographically and eligibility regulations tend to obstruct access for the very poorest. In general the human capital of the rural and uneducated elderly is declining, as society increasingly values modern skills and knowledge. However the Ribáuè residents we met experience some benefit from infrastructure modernisation. Elderly people are receiving more attention, especially as carers of children.

We have identified existing strategies for improving elderly people’s livelihoods. We suggest ways to build on these, as well as possible new strategies. If development policies are both equitable and successful, increased employment and taxation should enable formal pension and social security systems to provide for the elderly in the long-term future. In the short to medium term, expansion of the social assistance programme must be prioritised, as it is vital to the most vulnerable. It is also important that people’s customary engagement in mutually supportive social networks is strengthened rather than undermined by development changes.

Abstract:
Environmental perception of the residential community has a non-negligible impact on a healthy lifestyle for the elderly. The perceived level- and actual satisfaction- of the elderly offered by the “space vitality” of the residential community is closely related to the physical and mental health for the elderly which also largely determines their quality of life. From the perspective of urban planning, it is a crucial measure to identify and effectively regulate the critical environmental impact factors of the residential community that affect the perception and experience of the elderly, to promote the construction of the age-friendly community. This paper took Dalian, China as the research range, and took the elderly as the object of research in relation to the perception of space vitality within the residential community and its associated environment-related factors. Correlation analysis was used to identify the potential environmental factors related to the perception of space vitality by the elderly. It found that the general level of the elderly's perception of space vitality has a positive correlation with many elements of the built environment e.g., the perception of the diversity, or the landscape of leisure places, which are both related to overall spatial quality. However, it does not show a significant correlation with the social environment. Therefore, useful suggestions are made on how to improve the elderly’s perception of space vitality within the residential community, particularly in prior planning and design practice. The optimization of the spatial quality of the built environment should be the core point of concern. By optimizing the arrangement of the relevant elements of the site, the elderly’s level of perception and satisfaction with the space vitality of the residential community should improve; furthermore, the physical and mental health of the elderly will be promoted in line with their quality of life.

Abstract:
Abstract: Elderly people were most at risk of death from pandemics. There were more health and care facilities and preventive measures to the impact of COVID-19. Due to the rapid increase in mortality among elders, this literature review was done to reveal the management methods mentioned in Ayurveda regarding the prevention of COVID-19. And other criteria were how to correlate the Janapadodhwansha with pandemics and COVID-19, pandemic preventive measures for the elderly, clinical management of pandemics, and the suitable management to be taken after the infection. Data collection for the research was done as a literature review with authentic Ayurveda texts and 36 research articles published from 2010 to 2022. Electronic databases were used to review the related published works. According to the Ayurveda, Dinacharya, Rithucharya, Sadvritta, and Achara Rasayana inculcate discipline in a person and make righteous health habits. As a therapeutic measure, enhancing Vyadhikshamathwa is the main point of managing pandemic diseases in Ayurveda. Especially elderly people can be protected by using Rasāyana karma, Ojōwardhaka therapy, Vājikarana therapy, Lēhana karma, and yoga. Vayasthapana treatments are taken specially for increasing immunity and nourishment. Shōdhana treatments can be used to prevent the recurrence of the diseases in elderly people. It can be concluded from the review that the behavioral patterns, dietary regimens, and medications in Ayurveda can prevent COVID-19 among elderly people. Abstract:
In today's Chinese society, the aging of the population is accelerating, and the elderly have become an important group of social concern. Research on products for the elderly is also increasing. On the other hand, with the continuous advancement of technology, smart products also occupy an increasingly important position. However, there is a huge mismatch between the use of the elderly and smart products. Understanding the perception, cognition and behavioral habits of the elderly is of great significance for designing research and improving elderly products. The affordance theory and its research methods define the function of the product from the perspective of the system level and scope of the conceptual design of the product, which can be directly mapped to the user's intentional behavior. Product matching information, thereby helping designers better grasp the relationship between products and the elderly. From the perspective of affordance, the article analyzes the perception, cognition and behavioral habits of the elderly, identifies the perception characteristics, cognitive ability attributes, and behavioral characteristics of the elderly, and summarizes and organizes the elderly's own. At the same time, it analyzes the characteristics of elderly smart products, and uses the research method of affordance to establish a research framework for smart product aging-appropriate design under the guidance of affordance, which provides a basis for the development and optimization of subsequent products.

Abstract:
In Latvia, from 2011 to 2020 the number of people 65+ increased by 2.7 %, but the number of the employed people 65+ increased by 94.4 %. The aim of this research is to identify the determinants of the elderly employment in the context of active ageing. The author analysed secondary data collected by the international and Latvia’s institutions as well as by Latvia’s researchers who have studied the elderly. The results of these studies and the data of Latvia’s statistics show that the rapid growth of the elderly employment in Latvia is more likely not an indicator of active ageing, but the elderly’s attempt to overcome poverty. 60.3 % of the elderly in Latvia continue to work in order to increase their current income, and only 10.2 % – for non-financial reasons, which is one of the lowest values in the EU. The gap between the average income of Latvia’s population and the income of people 65+ is increasing over the past 10 years. The elderly in Latvia work mainly in education and health care. These sectors have relatively lower average wages and are therefore less attractive to young people, so the elderly employment in them shows not only the importance of knowledge and experience, but also the difficulties in attracting new employees. The author concludes that Latvia is still far from real active ageing, which is typical for the most competitive EU countries. In order to move in this direction, it would be useful to use the experience of the EU’s active ageing initiatives.
