Abstract:
A Review of: Mei, X. Y., Aas, E., & Eide, O. (2020). Applying the servicescape model to understand student experiences of a Norwegian academic library. Library & Information Science Research, 42(4), Article 101051. https://doi.org/10.1016/j.lisr.2020.101051 Abstract Objective – To understand how the physical environment of an academic library influences user behaviour. Design – Qualitative explorative. Setting – An academic library at a large university in Norway. Subjects – Twelve bachelor’s and master’s students at a business school. Methods – The researchers used a two-step approach, with the servicescape model from the marketing discipline serving as a theoretical framework. Subjects completed several tasks involving drawing and elaborating on their usage of the library space, utilizing a bird’s-eye floor plan. This was followed by semi-structured interviews to explore how subjects use and experience the library facilities. Main Results – Students found it important to be physically comfortable and to have enough room for the items they need while studying. The library in this study was seen more as a place for studying than for social interactions, and while some subjects reported being motivated by seeing students around them studying, others said they are distracted by having other students in their sightline. The time of the semester appeared to influence user experience and satisfaction with the library space, with spaces conducive to group work desired at some points in the semester and with single seating preferred when individual exams are taking place. Conclusion – The library’s physical environment triggers cognitive and emotional responses in users. These responses influence how frequently they visit the library and how well they are able to concentrate while there. Because academic library spaces have an impact on student learning, it is important to design libraries with user comfort in mind. Libraries should accommodate the different ways students work throughout the semester by providing flexible study space configurations.

Abstract:
The article is devoted to the topical problem of interaction of the electronic library systems (ELS) with the electronic information and educational environment (EIEE) of the higher education institutions. The current Legislative Decrees in Russia interpret ELS and EL as interchangeable terms, where the ELS term is specified (as opposed to EIEE). The analysis of several ELS, conducted by the Universities of culture and arts, has revealed considerable shortcomings, among which there are the significant cost of connecting to the systems and the low quality of specialized content. For universities of culture and arts there is offered the solution through organization of bi-directional interaction between the electronic resources, created by university professors, and electronic resources available to the students of these universities. There is described the experience of practical application of the model in the period of 2012-2014, as well as outlined perspectives for its further development through monitoring of the structure of book supply of the University according to certain parameters.

Abstract:
The aim of this paper and research was to analyse the efficiency of the compiler-generated code for the graphics library and to present results obtained by optimization for the MIPS (Million Instructions Per Second) architecture. Libpng is the official Portable Network Graphics reference library for use in applications that read, create, and manipulate PNG (Portable Network Graphics) raster image files. Given the data structure in the PNG files, as well as the capabilities of the MIPS instruction set, it was expected that significant improvements could be made. Graphic library libpng is optimized by using MIPS instruction set extension and tested on MIPS Malta 74K platform. Test results show, that by using MIPS optimization test, execution times are substantially improved. Our libpng optimization have achieved performance increase of 10 %–78 % depending on optimized routine.

"Phasing Analysis Of TKI Resistance Mutations In The BCR-ABL1 Kinase Domain and Neighboring Domains Using Next-Generation Sequencing." Full text
Abstract:
Abstract Background Many CML patients treated with tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) eventually develop resistance as a result of ABL1 kinase domain (KD) mutations, and sequential treatment with different TKIs may select for multiple BCR-ABL1 mutations. Whether multiple mutations arise in distinct clones (in trans, or polyclonal mutations) or instead are present within the same BCR-ABL1 molecule (in cis, or compound mutations), has been shown to have important implications with respect to TKI sensitivities (Eide, C.A. et al., Blood 2011). Distinguishing between polyclonal and compound mutations, or mutation phasing, for the ABL1 KD has not been clinically practical with standard mutation detection methods. Here we have developed a highly sensitive next-generation sequencing (NGS) assay on the Ion Torrent PGM along with a proprietary data analysis pipeline that together enable deep sequencing of the BCR-ABL1 KD and neighboring domains with a 1% limit of detection and quantitative reporting of mutation phasing. Methods RT and long range PCR was performed to amplify BCR-ABL1 e1a2/3, e13a2/3, and e14a2/3 fusion transcripts and the PCR products were enzymatically randomly fragmented and ligated with Ion Torrent sequencing adaptors. Size-selected libraries were quantified, pooled, amplified with the OneTouch system and sequenced with the Ion Torrent PGM using 400 bp sequencing chemistry. Sequencing data were analyzed with Torrent Suite 3.4.2 with variant frequency cutoff adjusted to 1%. Variants were further annotated with a proprietary analysis pipeline and variant report was produced after manually reviewing variants by Integrative Genomics Viewer. If more than one non-synonymous variant was reported in a sample, a proprietary phasing analysis pipeline was applied to report the mutation spectrum of all of the combinations of multiple mutations in the sample. Results To validate the accuracy of the sequencing method which employs 400 bp sequencing chemistry, we compared this assay with our previously validated BCR-ABL1 NGS assay based on Ion Torrent 200 bp sequencing chemistry for a set of clinical specimens from CML patients previously treated with TKI. Results were highly concordant and similarly sensitive, with 11/11 variants (frequencies ranging from 2% to 100%) identified with comparable frequencies by both methods. To evaluate the specificity of the phasing analysis, an artificial sample was created by mixing two samples (b2_10 and b2_6) with 6 distinct variants present at ratio of 1:19. Because variants are unique in each sample, any compound mutation composed of b2_10 variant and b2_6 variant identified would be false positive. The false positive error rate (percentage of b2_6 variant as compound mutation with b2_10 variant and vice versa) ranged from 0 – 0.6%, which was consistent with sequencing error rate. We conservatively define a compound mutation as true if it is present in at least 5% of any one of the component variants in the compound mutation. Mutation detection and phasing analysis were reproducible on different chips (314 v2 and 318 v2) and different library preps from the same long range PCR product of BCR-ABL1. Table 1 shows the mutation spectrum from sample b2_6. Of the four variants detected, L248V and G250E were mutually exclusive (in trans), while T315I and M351T were present as compound mutations with each other and, separately, with either L248V or G250E. Notably, >86% of the molecules harbored single mutations, and no compound mutations containing more than 2 variants were observed. Conclusions We have developed and validated a sensitive NGS assay that enables deep sequencing of the BCR-ABL1 KD and neighboring domains along with quantitative mutational phasing. This method has been applied in evaluating >250 clinical specimens for a clinical trial of a third-generation TKI(results reported separately). The ability to easily determine the mutation phasing of a CML patients’ mutation profile using this assay will allow for investigations into compound mutation-based resistance mechanisms and may be used to better guide treatment decisions. Abstract:
This paper explores new methods to increase the level of safety of data transfer between sensors and electronic control units (ECUs) in automotive communication. A new model of basic sensors to be used in automotive electronics is proposed. This model contains hardware modules that implement the end-to-end communication protection (E2E) mechanism, as defined by the Automotive Open System Architecture (AUTOSAR) standard. By adding this feature inside the sensors, it is possible that, in addition to increasing the safety level, these sensors can be directly connected to the network ECUs via standard communication buses (e.g., Local Interconnect Network (LIN), Controller Area Network (CAN), Flexray, etc.). This paper describes the model, design, and mapping (in a Field Programmable Gate Array device (FPGA)) of the hardware E2E module capable of generating the Cyclic Redundancy Code (CRC) and counter signal for a customized message. This message represents the output of the new sensor E2E module used in a safety communication as requested by the automotive E2E standard. The model is validated also by comparing the data output of the E2E hardware with the data output of the AUTOSAR software E2E library. Finally, future needs and directions are suggested in this area.

Abstract:
Anonymous credential (AC) systems allow users, obtaining a credential on a set of attributes, to anonymously prove ownership of the credential and then to selectively disclose a subset of attributes without leaking any other attributes. Recently, a new type of AC, called keyed-verification anonymous credential (KVAC), has been proposed, which indicates that the credential issuer is also the verifier. Conceptually, the KVAC system is suitable for being used as employee cards, library access cards or eIDs (electronic ID cards). However, since the limited process power of smart cards, most of the existing KVAC systems are hard to be implemented on them. In addition, none of the existing KVAC systems provide traceability to obtain the user’s identity if anyone tries to misbehave with KVAC. In this paper, we present the first efficient and traceable KVAC system designated for smart cards. Our scheme provides the following security properties: unforgeability, anonymity, traceability and unlinkability. To demonstrate the efficiency and feasibility, we present an implementation of our scheme on standard Multos smart cards. The implementation results show that our scheme is efficient enough for practical use.

Abstract:
In a criminal investigation, along with processing forensic evidence, different investigative techniques are used to identify the perpetrator of the crime. It includes collecting and analyzing unconstrained face images, mostly with low resolution and various qualities, making identification difficult. Since police organizations have limited resources, in this paper, we propose a novel method that utilizes off-the-shelf solutions (Dlib library Histogram of Oriented Gradients-HOG face detectors and the ResNet faces feature vector extractor) to provide practical assistance in unconstrained face identification. Our experiment aimed to establish which one (if any) of the basic image enhancement techniques should be applied to increase the effectiveness. Results obtained from three publicly available databases and one created for this research (simulating police investigators’ database) showed that resizing the image (especially with a resolution lower than 150 pixels) should always precede enhancement to improve face detection accuracy. The best results in determining whether they are the same or different persons in images were obtained by applying sharpening with a high-pass filter, whereas normalization gives the highest classification scores when a single weight value is applied to data from all four databases.

Abstract:
In this study, Turkish and English tweets through Twitter Application Program Interface (API) between 1-31 January 2021 are analyzed with respect to Covid-19. The collected tweets are preprocessed, labeled with the Vader Sentiment library, and then analyzed by topic modeling with Nonnegative Matrix Factorization. The analysis show that the most frequently mentioned word is “vaccine/aşı” after “Covid”. The topics modelled in the study are grouped into themes and the themes are seen to be similar in both languages, which means that the Turkish and world agenda are not very different in terms of themes in pandemics. Moreover, hypothesis tests are conducted to understand whether language and time period are related to sentiment class. The results show that the Turkish people are more neutral about the Covid-19 issue than other people in the world during the given period of time. Moreover, independent of the language, there are more negative and neutral tweets in the first half of January 2021, whereas there are more positive tweets in the second half of the month. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first study to analyze Covid-19 related tweets in two languages to compare the local and global agendas using topic modeling, sentiment analysis, and hypothesis testing methods.

Classic legal databases are constructed like a library: each fraction of information, but above all the legal sources to which it refers, can be precisely described and iden- tified. With artificial neural networks (ANNs) and/or self-learning systems using GPT- technology (including ChatBots) this is no longer possible. They train computers to fil- ter out information from the infinite stocks they can store. Under these conditions, reli- able information can only be obtained, if the systems are trained at high cost for narrow areas of application. In the area of legal databases, this is currently unlikely.

Abstract:

Abstract:

Abstract:
In the fifteenth century a ca.-800 copy of the Pauline epistles was cut up in the Austrian Benedictine monastery of Mondsee and reused as binding material. Most of the fragments were detached in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries and are today kept in the Austrian National Library as Cod. Ser. n. 2065, but some are still in situ in their host volumes. The large number of surviving pieces –211 in all – enabled a reconstruction of not only 95 former (partial) leaves, but also of the quire structure of the former manuscript. These reconstructions rely on codicological observations as well as comparisons with other surviving witnesses of the same textual traditions, such as München, Bayerische Staatsbibliothek, Clm 9544.

Abstract:
AbstractThis contribution is a critical assessment of Gregor Etzelmüller’s habilitation thesis, which was published in 2010 under the title »… zu schauen die schönen Gottesdienste des Herrn«. Eine biblische Theologie der christlichen Liturgiefamilien. A presentation of current research trends in systematic theological reflection of worship in ecumenical discourse shows that Etzelmüller chooses an approach of his own. Etzelmüller is not so much interested in the performative character of worship but its basic textual character. He considers the Bible as a decisive pre-text of Christian liturgies and hence responsible for their commonalities; likewise, as a pluralistic library, it is responsible for their differences. Heinrich Assel and Johannes Modeß underline that the broad approach of Etzelmüller’s book opens up new perspectives for liturgical research. They nevertheless critically reflect on some of his methodological decisions and suggest that worship as an event cannot only be understood via (the interpretation of) liturgical texts.
