Abstract:
The aim of this diploma thesis is to evaluate the performance of the company BRA-VUR, a.s. using the START Model, based on the EFQM Excellence Model. The theoretical part of the thesis defines quality, performance, and company performance measurement methods. The content of the analytical section is to evaluate the current situation in the company using the START Model and selected financial analysis indicators. The results of this assessment are used in the final part of the work, which is to propose measures to improve the performance of the company and to shift forward on its way to excellence.

This master's thesis is focused on conducting a performance evaluation of a particular company using the EFQM Excellence Model. The theoretical section of this thesis introduces the primary theoretical basis for company performance measurement with a focus on the EFQM Model of Excellence. The analytical section contains an evaluation of the selected company‘s current situation using the Excellence Model's methodology to identify weaknesses. The output from the analysis is then used in the subsequent section of the thesis, where these weaknesses are transformed into suggestions for improving the company's performance so it can proceed further on its path to excellence.

The objective of this diploma thesis is to map the opinions of organisations and the public on the value and benefits of the National Quality Award of the Czech Republic based on the realised survey. The results of this survey are used to reason the suggestions to improve the importance of the prize and its perception in the society. Apart from the general quality conception, the theoretical part of the thesis also includes the presentation of the EFQM Excellence Model principle that represents a base for the National Quality Award of the Czech Republic. The particular programmes of this prize are also presented - the ones the organisations may apply for. This master thesis is focused on performance evaluation of company AGRI CS a.s., namely the evaluation of financial and business performance using benchmarking. The theoretical part deals with some approaches and methods suitable for the company performance evaluation with an emphasis on benchmarking. The main part however is in-depth case study on business performances of selected company. The core part is financial performance benchmarking based on public data from financial annual accounts. For this purpose I use database Amadeus. I analyzed most of the performance indicators for an average of industry branch as well as for 14 most intense competitors. Final remarks of the thesis discuss the main findings and conclusions of the whole performance analysis. On top of that I present possible recommendations for the selected company in order to enhance or even eliminate identified weaknesses.

En el segundo capítulo se desarrolla el diagnóstico del sector, el cual es resultado del análisis de la información obtenida a través de las encuestas a las empresas del sector. Se encuentra también la información básica de la investigación, detallando objetivo general, hipótesis, población objetivo y método de obtención de información. En el tercer capítulo se encuentra el desarrollo del modelo de Gestión de Calidad propuesto, el cual se basa en el Modelo de Excelencia EFQM y utiliza metodologías y herramientas de la gestión por procesos. En el cuarto capítulo se desarrolla la validación del presente trabajo, considerando el cumplimiento de actividades propuestas y la validación del proyecto en base al juicio de expertos en el área de la Gestión de Calidad. En el quinto capítulo se encuentra el análisis y evaluación de impactos que se producen con la implementación del modelo de gestión desarrollado en el presente trabajo. Este capítulo muestra los resultados esperados en base a criterios económicos, sociales, ambientales y de cumplimiento legal. Finalmente, en el sexto capítulo se encuentran las conclusiones y recomendaciones del presente proyecto de investigación.

This paper summarises the research work carried out under the title "Analysis of organisational internalisation of the principal standards and models of quality management and excellence". It is a Doctoral Thesis carried out as an article-style dissertation with the aim of undertaking research aimed clearly at contributing its grain of sand to the specific line of research in which it is framed. The articles that make up this Doctoral Thesis fall within the ambit of work which, as reflected in this paper, is aimed at analysing how organisational internalisation of the main standards and models of quality management and excellence comes about. We understand that the theme is of relevance and interest for the different players involved in adopting the paradigm of quality management, and was carried out with this aim in mind. Present highly competitive environment has significantly contributed to the state in which success of entrepreneurial subjects is conditioned among others by their ability to identify and eliminate gaps in their performance as fast as possible. It is inevitably connected with the necessity to know the firm itself, which is one of the unexceptionable condition of reaching and maintaining competitiveness. The dissertation thesis reacts to above shown fact and to generally perceived want of suitable methodology of organizational self-assessment aimed at improvement for small and middle enterprises. The issue of organizational self-assessment is analyzed and assessed complexly in this dissertation thesis. Also less known connections and relationships as to the issue of organizational self-assessment are given here, which provides a desirable comprehensive view. In the dissertation thesis there are also specified relevant definitions relating to the subject of the dissertation thesis. The definitions are specified in mutual relationships, which increases their value in light of their contribution both to theory and to practice. In relation to the analysis of the present state in the sphere of organizational self-assessment, the dissertation thesis introduces the most spread and best known models used for organizational self-assessment. A very important part of the analytical part is created by the determination of basic approaches to organizational self-assessment with closer specification of diagnostically oriented self-assessment. A pivotal part of the dissertation thesis is represented by my own draft of the methodology of organizational self-assessment aimed at formation and maintenance of competitiveness. This methodology is based on diagnostically oriented organizational self-assessment and is intended above all for small and middle manufacturing enterprises that are certified according to the ISO 9001/2000 standard. Submitted methodology was verified with positive result in a middle manufacturing enterprise. The methodology itself is based on a frame model and on an algorithm that should facilitate the implementation and regular realization of the organizational self-assessment.

The final issue deals with the introduction of Quality Management Systems in Central Bohemian high schools. The theoretical part describes principles of the Quality Management and more closely presents ISO 9001 standard, EFQM Excellence Model, CAF Model and CQAF Model. The research part determines opinion of school headmasters in Decree No 15/2005 Coll., that specifies requirements for the obligatory self-evaluation of schools. In next chapters through a survey and an analysis of school web pages is examined practice of Quality Management Systems implementation in high schools in Central Bohemia -- current status, awareness of head masters, demand and expectations. The last chapter offers a definite experience with the introduction of Quality Management Systems through additional interviews with school headmasters.

The diploma thesis is focused on evaluation of performance of two agricultural holdings with the purpose of subsequent comparison for the whole sector. Both financial and non-financial methods are used to assess performance. The financial approaches used the financial analysis and the non -financial approaches were used by Weckert's analysis and EFQM excellence model. This work is divided into two parts. The first part describes theoretical concepts, which are subsequently used in the second part of the thesis entitled "Custom work". In their own work, individual companies are introduced and the above methods are applied. Based on the results of these methods, proposals are made for increasing the efficiency of companies and generalizing approaches for the whole sector.

The subject of this diploma thesis is evaluation of the performance of the selected company using financial and especially non-financial approaches. The financial situation of the enterprise is assessed using financial analysis and economic value added. Non-financial approaches to performance evaluation are the EFQM Model Excellence and the method of Balanced Scorecard. Diploma thesis is divided into two parts. In the theoretical part Literary research are described financial analysis, economic added value, EFQM Model Excellence and the method of Balanced Scorecard. In the practical part is briefly presented the characteristic of the company and subsequently applied selected methods. The results of the methods used are compared with each other and then proposals to increase the competitiveness of the company are developed. At the end of the thesis, the possibility of generalizing used approaches and pro-posals for other companies in the sector is considered.
