Abstract:
There is a difference in prevalence of Epilepsy in General population & MS patients. Interical Epileptiform Discharges (IED) positivity in EEG is also different in the above two populations. Demyelination slows down the conduction speed of axons and author is proposing that different speed of conduction in adjacent axons can generate re-entrant circuits. If the reentrant circuits involve Corpus callosum (CC) fibers, seizure activities of MS can be triggered. DBS applied to CC can terminate the seizure attack of MS like Vagal Nerve Simulator (VNS) in terminating seizure in general population.

Abstract:
Background Iron deficiency childhood is a concern due to its potentially detrimental effectson development, some of which may be irreversible even after irontreatment. Delayed cord clamping may prevent IDA by increasingan infant's iron reserve at birth. Objective We aimed to evaluate the effect of delayed umbilicalcord clamping at birth on the iron status in newborns at age 24hours of life. Methods This randomized, single􀁒blind study was conducted fromMarch to May 2009, at two general hospitals in Medan, NorthSumatera Province. Eligible newborn infants were randomlyassigned to one of two groups: early cord clamping (Eee)performed 15 seconds after delivery or delayed cord clamping(DeC) performed 2 minutes after delivery. Infants were placed ontheir mothers' abdomens before the umbilical cords were clamped.Hematologic status was determined from umbilical cord blood. Results Sixty􀁒three subjects were included in our study, consistingof31 infants in the Eee group and 32 infants in the Dec group. We found that mean neonatal hemoglobin level was higher inthe Dec group than in the Eee group ( 18.4 g% and 16.2 g%,respectively, P=O.OOOl). Also, mean ferritin level was higher inthe Dec group than in the Eee group (556 mg/dL and 329 mg/dL, respectively, p=o.o 15). Other hematological status indicators, including mean hematocrit and mean corpuscular volume (MeV)level, were also higher in the Dec group. However, mean redblood cell levels were not significantly groups. Nor was there a significant level between the Dec and Eee groups.Concl usion Dela y ed cord c l a m p i n g m a y improve ironstatus and prevent IDA in term infants. [Paediatr Indones.2012;52:223-8].

Abstract:
Introduction: Standing leaf litter represent an essential source of organic matter and nutrients to dynamize biogeochemical processes at the ecosystem level. Objectives: To characterize the accumulation and decomposition of organic materials and flow of nutrients from standing litter in an urban dry tropical forest in a successional stage, after 10 years of abandonment of agricultural activities, and to determine the potential use of three species in future active restoration activities. Materials and methods: Standing litter samples were collected from a forest fragment in Santa Marta, Colombia, separating leaves, reproductive material, woody material and other residues. Additionally, leaves of three species of interest for ecological restoration (Albizia niopoides Spruce ex Benth., Cordia alba [Jacq.] Roem. & Schult. and Machaerium milleflorum Dugand G. A.) were separated and Ca, Mg, K, N and P concentrations were determined. Results and discussion: Total standing litter was 8.3 Mg∙ha-1 with a mean residence time of two years. The leaves represented 20% of the standing litter, with a mean residence time of 1.4 years. Based on the decomposition constant (kj = 0.73) and the rate of leaf litterfall, organic matter returns accounted for 3.4 Mg∙ha-1∙year-1. Leaf decomposition rate decreased in the following order C. alba > M. milleflorum > A. niopoides. P represented the greatest limitation with low release rates (0.1 to 1.2 kg∙ha-1∙year-1). Conclusions: The passive restoration strategy allowed reactivation of biogeochemical cycle via fine leaf litter. Cordia alba showed potential for inclusion in restoration activities, with lower values for leaf N/P ratio, and higher rates for leaf litterfall, litter decomposition and nutrient release.

Abstract:
The disability rate in Indonesia is still relatively high and is one of the main health problems which reaches 30.38 million people or 14.2% of the Indonesian population. One of these types of disabilities is speech impairment. There are several possible causes for speech impairment, including the focal disturbance. This situation occurs because of disturbances in the vocal cords caused by injuries due to accidents and other conditions, such as throat cancer, which of course will reduce the productivity of the sufferer. Sign language can be used to communicate, but it still has limitations for normal individuals. In addition, speech synthesis using brain computer interface (BCI) based on electrocorticography (ECoG) has been developed. However, this method still has a weakness, namely invasive and allows the emergence of large enough scar tissue, so that it can reduce the quality of brain biopotential to be recorded. Therefore, a non-invasive EEG-based speech synthesis method was initiated. This method uses bLSTM as one of the components of the RNN model, so that it can construct syllables into words. This system consists of datasets, data filter programs, data segmentation programs, feature extraction programs, ANN and RNN deep learning model training programs, and text-to-speech programs. ANN and RNN form a 2-level deep learning. The testing accuracy and accuracy of the ANN are 26.04% and 20.83%, while the accuracy of the RNN is 81.25%. To improve these results, in the future, researchers can improve the data collection process and increase the number of the data, use the correct extraction feature, and compare several machine learning architectures, to produce optimal accuracy.

Full text
Abstract:
Travel blogs epitomise an informal, digital environment where international users engage in dialogical interactions about their travelling experiences. While doing so, they deploy a range of pragmatic intentions to exchange information and build discussion. Speech acts (Searle, 1975) encapsulate those intentions, and are generally assumed to differ in their illocutionary force depending on users’ communicative needs, and on whether hosted in posts or in comments. This paper explores the frequency and saliency of speech acts in travel blogs, by undertaking a contrastive study as regards generic features in an exploratory corpus of 18 Englishmediated travel blog posts and 367 travel blog comments. The three circles of English (Bolton & Kachru, 2006) are used to balance bloggers’ sociolinguistic background and represent native and nonnative speakers. A corpus-driven typology of speech acts for the travel blog is designed, since aprioristic, traditional classifications may not match users’ intentions in asynchronous, globalised, computer-mediated settings. Connections of particular speech acts with each of the generic instances, whether posts or comments, are revealed, and prototypical discursive realisations of those speech acts are qualitatively provided. The study unveils bloggers’ communicative practices and yields pragmatic and discursive resources users can handle to encode their pragmatic intentions in travel blog posts and comments.

Abstract:
This article presents a computer-assisted discourse analysis of the main topics and evaluative parameters used by student teachers of English as a Foreign Language (EFL) in their reflective journals. By applying Bednarek’s parameter-based approach to the study of evaluation, 329 reflective journals (aprox. 90,000 words) were analyzed by using the UAM Corpus Tool. The correlation of three sources of data – topic analysis, evaluative parameters and keywords – allowed to uncover the most typical evaluative language choices made by EFL student teachers in their reflective journals and their overall evaluation of their training process during their practicum studies. Results show that most journal entries pivot around the figure of the secondary student of EFL and that student teachers feel confident enough as to explicitly assess products, performances, and human behavior along the emotivity and the expectedness parameters. Findings are discussed in relation to the development of the EFL student teachers’ professional teaching identity and on the contextual factors that promote it or hinder it.

Abstract:
The larynx, a specialized segment of the airways, is the essential organ of phonation, breathing and protection of the lower airways when swallowing by a complex anatomic structures organized around a cartilaginous skeleton. We realized a prospective study on three months, ranging from March 01 to May 31 2020, of patients referred to our service for cervical CT scan or MRI exploration in different contextes. We retained the normal exams. For scanographic exploration we used a multi-slice CT scan consisting of 64 rows of detectors. Helical acquisition in native axial slices 0.627 mm thick from the base of the skull to the arch of the aorta was performed in indifferent breathing after asking the patient not to swallow. Iodinated contrast product was injected according to the administration protocol in a single bolus of 90 ml at an average flow rate of 1.5 ml / s and to perform the acquisition with 50 second delay. A dynamic phonation maneuver (saying “eee” continuously and evenly) was used to analyse the true and false vocal cords. On MRI exploration of the larynx, we used a high-field device (1.5Tesla) with a semi-circular specific surface antenna, the phase oriented in an anteroposterior direction, the 3DT1 spin echo sequence without fat signal saturation was performed. In ultrasound, we used literature data. Knowledge of laryngeal radioanatomy contributes to the diagnosis of laryngeal cancers which occupy an important place in all cancers of the upper aerodigestive tract. They can be diagnosed early and the refinement of their endoscopic exploration and imaging allows them to make a precise extension assessment.
