Abstract:
Abstract: Educational Marketing Information Systems at Islamic Educational InstitutionsDelays in presenting educational marketing information will cause information not to reach customers quickly and accurately. Marketing educational services is a strategy to improve the quality of education which is the most important element for the quality and progress of the level of education in an educational institution. Marketing is done so that the public knows the advantages and programs owned by the madrasa. Customer satisfaction with educational institutions is identical to customer satisfaction regarding the services provided. This type of research is library research with a qualitative approach. The research process is descriptive analysis, namely by collecting data, compiling, clarifying, and analyzing. Marketing activities can be carried out with various channels or several media, with the hope that there will be three stages of change, namely: changes in knowledge, changes in attitudes, and changes in desired actions. Educational institutions must be able to create community-oriented educational service programs that adapt to the needs of madrasas. Educational institutions must strive to create a positive image in the eyes of the community so that people can make decisions for their sons and daughters to choose the madrasa.

Abstract:
This article explores the application of Knowledge Management (KM) techniques to educational information systems—particularly in support of systemic reform efforts. The first section defines knowledge and its relationship to information and data. There is also a discussion of various goals that might be pursued by organizations using KM techniques. The second section explores some of the fundamental design elements of an educational KM system. These include questions surrounding the unit of analysis, distributed computer resources, and organizational characteristics of successful KM efforts. Section three outlines the benefits that organizations expect to gain by investing in KM. Section four is a case history of the introduction of a district-level data system and the parallel efforts to support the aggregation and reporting of high-stakes educational outcomes for 8th grade students in the Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS) district. Finally, there are some preliminary conclusions about the capacity of an urban district in a complex policy environment to respond to the knowledge management needs of a decentralized system.

Abstract:
Summary Objectives: As health care develops from an organization-centered via service-centered (disease management) towards a person-centered system (favored homecare, patient monitoring, body area networks), information systems involved have to be semantically interoperable, process-related, decision-supportive, context-sensitive, user-oriented, and trustworthy. Methods: The aforementioned paradigm shift requires highly flexible solutions based on knowledge concepts, provided by a service-oriented and model-driven approach. Results: Information systems’ design, implementation and maintenance have to be realized based on formal grammar. This is true for all considered aspects and views of the system and its components, using metalanguages and reflecting all domains touched. Conclusions: For meeting the challenge, involvement of, and close collaboration between, experts from different domains as well as knowledge and tooling regarding formal modeling and model interchange are required.

Silva, Frutuoso G. M. "Practical Methodology for the Design of Educational Serious Games." Information 11, no. 1 (December 24, 2019): 14. http://dx.doi.org/10.3390/info11010014.

Full text
Abstract:
Educational serious games are primarily intended to teach about or train on a subject. However, a serious game must also be catchy for the player to want to play it multiple times and thus learn while playing. The design of educational serious games includes game experts and pedagogical experts that must be able to efficiently communicate to produce a product that is both educationally efficient and fun to play. Although there are some design frameworks to help with this communication, they are usually more conceptual and do not distinguish the fun factor from the learning contents well, making communication difficult. In this paper, a new practical methodology is presented to support the design process of this kind of digital games. This methodology is more all-encompassing because it identifies all the main steps that are needed to define the learning mechanisms in an educational serious game, from topic choice to user experience. It also separates the game’s learning contents from other mechanics used to keep the game fun to play. Finally, some practical examples are shown, illustrating the use of this methodology.

Abstract:
As educators, we want to guide our students so that they develop to the best of their ability and are emancipated. As researchers in education, we often use action research. We use proven theories to guide our intervention to emancipate our students. Or do we? Recently, prominent information systems journals have published few papers in the field of information systems education. We demonstrate that the guidelines for action research from a critical social research perspective in information systems are not evident in action research studies in information systems education. The emancipative goals of pure critical social research and reliance on critical social theory to guide our intervention are lacking in these educational studies. Our aim is to provide alignment between educational action research in information systems and information systems research conducted from a critical social theory perspective. Our methodology is to explicitly propose phases of action research from a critical social research perspective, grounded both in information systems and education literature. Then, we demonstrate the value of this approach in a study on the improvement of a data warehousing module. We conclude that by using proven theories and reflecting on the presuppositions in a problem environment, the researcher is able to guide the development of students and the community.

Abstract:
OpenCourseWare (OCW) systems have been established to provide open educational resources that are accessible by anyone, including learners with special accessibility needs and preferences. We need to find a formal and interoperable way to describe these preferences in order to use them in OCW systems and retrieve relevant educational resources. This formal representation should use standard accessibility definitions of OCW that can be reused by other OCW systems to represent accessibility concepts. In this article, we present an ontology to represent the accessibility needs of learners with respect to the IMS AfA specifications. The ontology definitions together with rule-based queries are used to retrieve relevant educational resources. Related to this, we developed a user interface component that enables users to create accessibility profiles representing their individual needs and preferences based on our ontology. We evaluated the approach with five examples profiles.

Abstract:
Introduction. The authors of the article highlight the results of research on the development of methods and tools for ensuring the information security of scientific and educational resources in information library systems and corporate information networks. The analysis of the state of the problem and the existing approaches on this topic are given too. Materials and Methods. The approach justifies the need to protect scientific resources from unauthorized access and the use of fuzzy logic to solve the problem. As a model and solution method, a fuzzy model correspondences is proposed, which makes it possible to comprehensively solve the problem of identifying threats in the event of a situation, as well as provide recommendations on how to eliminate them. For the formation of a knowledge base, experts are involved who determine the functions of belonging to knowlege base “Situation — Threats — Actions to eliminate the threats”. Results. The research results are being implemented as part of the ARMAT++ information library system of the corporate network of electronic libraries of 63 Uzbekistan universities for the protection of scientific and educational information from unauthorized access. Testing of the methods, programs of the subsystem and the expert knowledge base are carried out on the basis of information and resource centers under the project “Virtual electronic library of the Tashkent University of Information Technologies named after Muhammad Al-Khorezmi and its five branches”. Discussion and Conclusions. The use of the apparatus of fuzzy logic for the formation of a knowledge base of the “Situation — Threats — Actions to eliminate the threats” type in information library systems significantly increases the degree of protection of valuable information resources from unauthorized access.
