Abstract:
Purpose – The effects of social learning and network externalities in the diffusion of a new product imply that there should be local spillovers from existing owners to new adopters in a closely related community. Using the data from a unique household survey in rural China, this paper aims to examine the importance of local spillovers in the diffusion of two major durable goods, washing machine and refrigerator. Design/methodology/approach – Based on a 1999 rural household survey of durable goods consumption conducted by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) of China, the authors examine the likelihood of rural households adopting a washing machine and a refrigerator during 1998-1999, respectively. Findings – The estimation results indicate that a household is more likely to buy its first durable good in villages where a large share of households already own one. Further evidence suggests that these patterns are unlikely to be explained by unobserved local characteristics. When examined in more detail, the extent of local spillovers appears to be positively related to the household education level. Originality/value – First, the study reveals the importance of local spillovers in the diffusion of these two durables. Specifically, 64 percent of washing machine adoptions during 1998-1999 are due to these spillovers. For refrigerator adoptions, the proportion is 55 percent. Second, to the authors' best knowledge, the authors are among the first to test and provide evidence on the interaction between education level and local spillovers based on the learning hypothesis.

Abstract:
Cognitive psychologists have identified that introducing manageable challenges into the learning environment, coined as ‘desirable difficulties’ by Robert Bjork, helps students retain knowledge more deeply over time. Handling small, workable obstacles in the learning process slows down the learner and can have positive effects on retention and application. The more effort learners must apply to retrieve knowledge for a concept or skill, the more this process of retrieval enriches learning. While there is established literature on desirable difficulty in the field of cognitive psychology, the theory has not been applied to design education. The characteristics of the signature pedagogy of design naturally contain many of the key markers of desirable difficulty that drive learning retention. This article summarizes the major scholarship around the concept of desirable difficulty and explores applications for the teaching and learning of design, specifically around the signature pedagogy elements of critique, the design process and project-based learning.

Abstract:
Background: Health professions (HP) students must achieve durable learning (DL) to transfer and apply knowledge from the classroom to the clinical setting. This review examines the state of the science of classroom-based DL in HP. Method: The Joanna Briggs Systematic Review Methodology was used. MEDLINE, CINAHL, PsycINFO, and ERIC databases were searched for articles published from 2006 to 2022. A total of 2,000 titles were identified for review, with 51 studies being selected for inclusion. Results: Multiple classroom-based learning strategies generally reported as being effective were identified, including flipped classroom, educational technology, spaced learning, team-based learning, concept mapping and schema, testing, and case study and problem-based learning. Conclusion: Although DL has been proven to be effective in the classroom setting for HP, no one type has been shown to be more effective than others. Additional research is needed within the context of transferring knowledge to clinical settings and in nursing education. [ J Nurs Educ . 2024;63(1):24–31.]

Abstract:

Abstract:
This thesis examines languages of education in the Burkinabè educational system and implications for development issues. Burkina Faso is a West African country which since 1994 has been putting into place a bilingual primary education system. This initiative includes African languages, literacy, local culture, and rural economic activities in addition to the French language. Since colonial times, this country has been administered exclusively in the French language, a language that is only spoken by 10-15% of the Burkinabè population. This thesis asks: Which type of elementary education, bilingual or monolingual, contributes best to the sustainable human development of Burkina Faso? To address this question, this thesis examines the experience of twenty adults, former bilingual- and monolingual-school students from the same rural area. Participants were asked to discuss their educational experience in relation to the United Nation’s five dimensions of sustainable human development: culture, gender, economy, politics and the environment. Data collection included semi-structured interviews with each participant, as well as classroom observations in both types of schools. These observations enabled a deeper understanding of the different pedagogical and philosophical educational approaches. Data was analyzed using perspectives from sociolinguistic theory and critical postcolonial theory. The first chapter of this thesis describes the origins of this research project. The second chapter presents the study’s conceptual framework, with particular attention to the meaning of two concepts in African education: “language” and “development.” The third chapter traces the history of public education in Burkina Faso, from pre-colonial times to the present. The following chapters present the main impact of bilingual education on the cultural and economical sustainability and development of the participants. The interviews with the participants show that the re

Abstract:
The environmental fragility (combined to the social change and economic crisis) in Lebanon, smallest country in the Middle East, has led among other things, to the destruction of national cohesion and the very meaning of national citizenship; which exacerbated the process of non-development. Faced to this situation, how can we work to build an educational site that can promote citizenship among youth? The goal of our research is to expose the specificity of the environment (physical, social and ideological) and present the state of play, based on a survey of 2,450 Lebanese students (comparative with 400 Australian-Lebanese students and 200 parents). This approach and the results observed, led us to propose a school project: “School, “Meanings” Project” based on the values and procedures that animate any project on Education for Sustainable Development in this country, to build the Lebanese citizen. The teaching of Geography courses provides a decisive contribution to this project

Abstract:
This research is part of a dynamics of quality assessment and applicability of education on the environment in the science curriculum in elementary Haiti, while taking into account what is being practiced in France and Canada (Ontario). The analysis of the content of curricula of experimental sciences of these three (3) countries has served to mark such an approach. Irresponsible behaviors towards the environment faced with serious problems are aggravating factors that directly affect the entire population. Accelerated environmental degradation of the Republic of Haiti is a major concern that requires to look for more concrete and lasting actions in order to greatly contribute to solving these numerous problems. These findings require a different approach, a different way of thinking. It is a matter of orienting education and teaching to new paradigms including education on the environment enshrined in international forums as an important tool in the resolution of environmental problems and whose aim is to create citizens endowed with genuine environmental awareness. The analysis of the sciences curricula of elementary schools of the three countries under study allows to see that the school systems are moving more towards an education which tends to transmit and to make acquire knowledge about EE for the environment instead of placing the child in the real learning environment where he may develop close relationships with the environment. This observation led us to interview 50 school officials and 212 teachers of the fundamental level in Haiti about their vision, their knowledge and the place reserved to this concept in their teaching schedules. The result of the analysis of these data shows great ignorance of the concept in the school environment under study and in addition to that EE just widens the gap of school inequalities already obvious in Haiti

Abstract:
By analyzing the process of governance of Cambodian government, this thesis seeks to understand the real impact of contemporary policy of government on the economic, social and environmental development through one word well defined, the sustainable development. This research shows about the Cambodian society as such, the relation between the society and the state, the structure and the capacity of the institution of the state in public governance, and the consequences of this governance on the society. Without forgetting the sustainable development that is the main objective of this research, this work is trying to prove the model of Cambodian governance as a bad example for the sustainable development

Abstract:
The proliferation of entrepreneurship education over the past two decades has led educational institutions to welcome a diverse range of learners into their entrepreneurship courses. Emerging within a neoliberal-inspired political context that promotes entrepreneurship, entrepreneurship education faces challenges related to considering the subjectivity of learners and, most importantly, the sustainability of terrestrial ecosystems. Entrepreneurial practice has contributed to the onset of the Anthropocene era, in which humans represent the primary force for transformation and destruction on Earth. Our research aligns with the call for an epistemological and ethical renewal of entrepreneurship education, a field that has seen substantial growth over the past fifteen years. We view the entrepreneurship educator as a relevant lever for transformation and explore how this educator, through their stance, can contribute to the sustainability of their practice. We propose to consider the entrepreneurship course as an ecosystem involving individuals interacting within an environment. Our aim is to establish how the educator can manage diversity within this ecosystem, facilitate interactions, impart a virtuous entrepreneurial mindset, and envision the environment in which the actors in this ecosystem operate.Rooted in an interpretive approach and drawing on 34 months of experience as a consultant-trainer within an entrepreneurship training structure, our research began with a case study exploring the impact of learner diversity in two entrepreneurship training programs for adults (Article 1). The second article focuses on the management of interactions in the application of ten active entrepreneurship learning methods, drawing from a systematic literature review and exploring the potential contributions of ecological sciences to optimize interaction management. The third article is an integrative literature review aiming to understand how the educator can integrate sustainable development issues into entrepreneurship education, suggesting an operationalization framework inspired by permaculture. Finally, the fourth article is a scientific essay questioning the garden as a potential space for reinventing entrepreneurship education based on ecological sciences.Collectively, these works lead to the proposal of a logic for creating and animating sustainable entrepreneurial educational ecosystems at the level of entrepreneurship courses: "biogogy." Our study provides a fresh understanding of the role and stance of the entrepreneurship educator and can inspire the design of dedicated training programs for these actors. Additionally, our research paves the way for exploring the emotions of the educator, enriching the field of research on emotions in entrepreneurship mentoring and training. The ecosystemic approach adopted invites us to take a fresh look at the dynamics at play in an entrepreneurship course in terms of diversity, interactions, and sustainability. New perspectives are explored to understand sustainable entrepreneurship education. By considering permaculture as a means of operationalizing the course and the garden as a learning space, alternative approaches to entrepreneurship are apprehended, focusing on ecosystem balance and opening opportunities to rethink entrepreneurship and its relationship to sustainability

Abstract:
The research focuses on student learning strategies in project based learning in context of sustainability education through secondary physics education in Vietnam. The intervention about a learning scenario for the grade-12 student project on solar energy at three different high schools has resulted in five possible learning strategies. In addition, the research outcome shed light on the relation between how the teacher implemented the project design and student achievements as well as how the student struggled with classroom activities and group-based assignments to fulfill their projects. Based on these results, the application of project based learning is suggested to change for more effective student learning and better sustainability education in the school

Abstract:
As externships evolved from their vocational education roots into the university setting, both the course purposes and the expectations of student changed toward deeper learning. While the students’ responsibility for gaining knowledge has increased, teaching methods designed by educators to prepare students for more critically evaluated outcomes has not evolved at the same pace. Educators still grapple over how educational design can combine the structured teacher-centered learning strategy used in university classrooms with the learner-centered approach students typically utilize in for-profit culinary workplaces. This dissertation is about culinary externships in the urban environment. The study examined the roles, reasoning, and behavior of culinary externship stakeholders: student externs, externship sites via their externship supervisors, and educators who facilitate externships under the academic rules and guidelines of both culinary bachelor programs and the rigor demanded by higher education. Further, the study explored what factors encouraged and empowered students to acquire durable knowledge from their externship experiences and the forms of social capital they use to invest in their experience, as well as the conditions that failed to secure durable knowledge from the externship. The findings indicate that each stakeholder approaches an externship from their own working perspectives. Further, the ability of students to socialize, utilize agency to achieve their personal ends, bear the sole weight of evaluation, and acquire practical work experience prior to the externship yielded the best outcomes. Additional questions are posed and answered within the study.

Abstract:
Education for sustainable development (ESD) is a part of compulsory education in the ″cycle 3″ of primary school in France and its overseas territories since 2004. Due to its environmental dimension, ESD leaves a large part to relationships with territories, and should take into account environmental realities close to the pupils. As a part of the researches on the study of relationships between teaching and contexts, the aim of this thesis is to describe how the contexts are taken into account in ESD in Guadeloupe. Our premise consists in identifying contextual particularities, or more precisely what we call ″objects of context″, which have been defined by actors in sustainable development, in order to highlight contextual dimensions of the teaching of sustainable development on the one hand and pupils’ conceptions on the other hand.In methodological terms, semi-structured interviews with local actors were realized in order to identify and describe these objects of contexts. This is achieved in the second part of the work. The descriptive study of the education system, in the third part of the work, is based on the analysis of the official programs and of the contents of pedagogical projects, as well as on exchanges with teachers of primary school. The fourth part of the work presents the results of a questionnaire survey led with a representative sample of more than six hundred pupils of CM1 and CM2 school years in Guadeloupe. The conceptions of local actors of sustainable developments enable us to identify what we call ″objects of context″. This term, which appeared during the analysis of their interviews, evokes characteristics, features, things evokes characteristics, features, things specific to a given territory.Education for sustainable development (ESD) is a part of compulsory education in the ″cycle 3″ of primary school in France and its overseas territories since 2004. They perceive the local issues of the SD and are able to distinguish them from those of mainland France. In this sense, they have some knowledge of Guadeloupe they build by the observation of their concrete environment, from different criterions to those of the school. Their answers show the weak impact of teaching related to SD on their knowledge of environmental phenomena and even on the level of ecology. As a conclusion, and surprisingly, the objects of context appear in a strong and close way in the conceptions of social actors and those of students. However, if the educational system seems to grab those objects, particularly through SD projects, the effect on the construction of knowledge, linked to SD issues, based on the contexts of Guadeloupe, seems to be small

Abstract:
In response to pressure from international organisations, higher education institutions are becoming increasingly involved in education for sustainable development (ESD) processes; the issue is to form responsible eco-citizens. There is a growing institutional demand to develop indicators for assessing the efficiency of the actions taken in this area, as demonstrated, for instance, by the financing of this doctoral research by the University of Montpellier and the National Council for Scientific Research-Lebanon. In response to this need, we develop indicators that reflect two “relational” dimensions of the eco-citizen attitude: relatedness to non-human environment and empathy towards each other. As a first step, we operationalized these dimensions by putting in place two psychometric scales “Fusion/Apparentement/Coupure (FAC)” et “Contagion/Empathie/Coupure (CEC)” which have been validated with the participation of 682 students in France and 259 students in Lebanon. We then submitted the questionnaire “FAC/CEC” to 762 third year undergraduate Lebanese students who have received various forms of education for sustainable development (ESD) during their university studies. We attempted to establish the link between the eco-citizen attitude measured by our tools and the identified models of ESD. In order to identify and categorize these models, we examined 19 Bachelor's programs in Lebanon. We conducted interviews with instructional leaders and carried out studies on the courses related to these programs. The results showed a link between the identified models and the development of environmental citizenship. It also demonstrated that it is relevant to use the questionnaire “FAC /CEC” which has adequate psychometric properties to propose ESD indicators for higher education institutions

Abstract:
Abstract“MakIN Teach—MAKerspaces for INnovation in TEACHing practices” is a two-year project recently funded by the Erasmus + program. It aims to promote the exchange of good practices in the use of rapid prototyping techniques, tools and spaces in the fields of education and training. The project supports teachers/educators working with students/learners showing poor educational results in theoretical subjects (e.g., mathematics, biology, geography, history, language, communication etc.). The project will conduct three short-term joint staff training activities and one student learning event, which will provide teachers/educators and students/learners with practical experience in makerspaces/fab labs. The materials and ideas developed during these transnational activities will be collected into an interactive e-book containing information about rapid prototyping technology, as well as tools for innovating the educational system and integrating fab labs and makerspaces into traditional teaching practices. All the partners involved in this project will have the opportunity to be part of a fruitful and durable network of educational institutions and makerspaces/fab labs at local and European level.

Abstract:
INNOVATION IN NON-NATIVE LANGUAGE EDUCATION Education system both in Russia and abroad has its own traditions and customs established throughout the centuries. In some educational institutions there were used non-conventional teaching methods along with traditional ones. However we are aware of the fact that both in those old times and now educational and pedagogic work was founded on the Jan Amos Comenius teaching, that was published in Didactica Magna (1638) that contains 'universal art of teaching everyone everything...'. Despite the fact that every country establishes specific educational systems which capture the peculiarities of socio-political framework and national and cultural differences, there is a certain degree of commonality among them. We understand 'innovation' as a certain novelty that was specifically developed or accidentally discovered through the pedagogical practice. Authors give different meanings to 'novelty' and 'innovation'. Novelty is a new means (new method, new methodology, technology etc.), while Innovation is the process of adopting that means. Innovational teaching is focused on developing an individual who is adaptable to constant changes in society, living conditions, to effective and durable acquisition of science basics by means of developing creative capabilities, thinking, and communication skills through new technology. When using innovation technologies, there occurs transition from lesson (task) systems as a teaching process to a lesson as 'a leading form of living' (lesson-creation, lesson-labor, lesson-communication, lesson-friendship, lesson-meeting, lesson-concerto, lesson-conversation, integrated lesson, lesson-roundtable, lesson-craft, etc.), Innovative approaches when teaching non-native language can be considered from the point of view of innovation-modernization of the teaching process, whereby the result is guaranteed as in traditional reproductive orientation. Technological approach to teaching concerns communicating certain knowledge to a student, forming a certain set of actions based on an example offered by a teacher; innovation-transformation which changes traditional understanding of the educational process and supports the research nature of the cognitive activity. Exploratory approach has an ability to transform traditional learning based on productive activity, which guarantees meeting certain goals and results. Teaching languages by using innovative technologies implies organizing the teaching process in a new, oriented at foreseeing the end results, stimulating students to dynamic communicative activities dialogue which fully leverages the emotional and intellectual potential. By 'technology' we mean a set of methods and techniques, which are used by teachers, as well as educational materials that are used when teaching Tatar language (educational-methodical system, computer technologies, video and audio, etc.). Educational-methodological systems that have been developed in recent years are communication-oriented and contain multiple tests that allow for self-control and teacher-control. Essentially, they bring communication in a non-native language close to natural environment. There are several goals of using modern technologies for teaching non-native languages, o Increasing motivation and interest in studying; o Strengthening cognitive activity; o Creating comfortable environment, the atmosphere of mutual understanding and support when communicating in non-native language; o Developing creative potential and skills, developing initiative. Using new educational technologies implies that the teacher should act in numerous roles: be a producer, a teacher, a student, an organizer of certain type of activity (e.g. games), a consultant, etc. Dr. Firaz F. Abstract:
"In our Knowledge Society, the division of cognitive labor, the specialization of knowledge and the brisk growth of new information and communication technologies provide a complex challenge for those tasked with selecting what is worth teaching and how to do it. The ease of access to information due to advanced and user-friendly technologies often gives us the illusion to know more than we actually do. This “epistemic disease” is a danger to both democracy and public health. The educational system must therefore encourage good epistemic habits consistent with responsible citizenship. From a didactic perspective, this requires updating the curriculum in the light of the educational challenge of the 21st century: making students aware of what knowledge is and what knowing means by fostering their epistemic cognition. Since epistemic cognition is concerned with the acquisition of a habitus, that is, a durable disposition to act in a certain way under certain circumstances (second-level curriculum objective), curriculum updating should not be reduced to a mere quantitative increase in the knowledge to be taught. On the contrary, this revision should address, on a qualitative level, how the selected disciplinary content is didactically transpose. In this contribution, we intend to propose some procedural principles – conceived as pragmatic patterns of behavior – that can help teachers design instructional activities consistent with the goal of promoting students’ epistemic cognition. These procedural principles will be formulated based on a conception of discipline as a correlated system of epistemic products and expert practices of knowledge construction, validation, evaluation and justification."

Abstract:
School closures due to the COVID-19 pandemic, have caused many countries to transform teaching and learning (T&L) using digital pedagogical techniques and tools. Educators and learners constantly communicated using networked devices such as smartphones and tablets to share content and to track learners’ learning progress. Also, many educational institutions across the globe rapidly built online courses and developed innovative online content in ensuring learning is continuous and responding to the challenges they faced in adapting and conducting online classes. Even though several countries have re-opened schools to foster various needs of learners, the pandemic did not stop education institutions to digitize their T&L approaches. The increasing number of affordable and more durable online courses in an Open Distance Learning (ODL) environment, for example, micro-credentials, have pushed education institutions to develop innovative programs and structures in improving the effectiveness of distance education. According to Ellysse (2021), virtual, augmented, and mixed reality (VR/ AR /MR) environments are more immersive, real, and motivating for learners and should be capitalized to bring a more transformative effect on the learning process. Apart from the effectiveness and impact of learning, it is also imperative that technological applications and use in classrooms should ensure inclusive and equitable principles are included to meet the social and emotional needs of students. Coupled with this, there is also a new generation of students entering college: they are digital natives who are connected 24/7 to their mobile devices (Harris, 2012) and it is important to ensure their learning needs are met too. Research by Sung (2014) using VR/AR combined with collaborative learning and the flexibility of mobile devices for a more ubiquitous experience may aid researchers in further improving inclusivity and equity of learning. Thus, creating lessons for ODL learners using VR/ AR /MR for a more inclusive and equitable environment necessitates looking at emerging pedagogical structures. In this paper, we sought to answer the research question: What are educators' perceptions and attitudes about using VR /AR technologies to improve equity and inclusion in education? Towards this, a qualitative study on the lecturer’s perception using purposive sampling was conducted. An open-ended survey questionnaire with responses from eight academicians were qualitatively analyzed using NVIVO 9. From the findings, most of educators believe and are aware that using VR/AR in the classroom can improve equity and inclusion. Finally, this study provides recommendations to educators and stakeholders in implementing AR/VR in their T&L approaches.

Abstract:
Abstract A prosthesis is a replacement limb that must be functionally sound, comfortably fit, durable, and aesthetically pleasing. Difficulty in prescription is further amplified by each patient’s unique needs and the variability within patient data. The clinician’ s education and prior training is critical in effectively navigating the wealth of patient specific information needed to prescribe a prosthesis and rehabilitation plan that increases the likelihood of long-term patient success. Education and training significantly vary, however, from country to country, and in Lower Income Countries (LIC) a lack of formalized prosthetic training contributes to a lower quality of life for resident amputees. Prosthetists and technicians in LICs face further challenges due to a lack of material resources and formal medical infrastructure. This study was motivated to understand the types of patient information that influence decision-making strategies during prosthetic prescription and compare strategies across expert and novice groups. The results of this study suggest that salient factors are different between each clinician group and is influenced by the complexity of the patients’ case. Activity level of the amputee influenced novices’ prescription, whereas amputee’s motivation, insurance, and health history influenced experts’ prosthetic prescription. Future work exploring the utility of complimentary or supplemental prescription tools, particularly for prosthetists in LICs, is discussed.

Abstract:
Abstract Globally, access to reliable and clean transportation vehicles is a growing concern. Using off-the-shelf components, researchers in Kenya have developed a solar-powered bicycle called the “Solar-E-Bike.” The bike has the potential to support the demand for mobility and electric power of the growing African population. A fully solar powered vehicle/generator for commuting and light cargo transportation as a source of electricity in the home is technically feasible and would respond to real user needs, impact the lives of many of people living in off-grid communities in Africa. Incorporating renewably-powered transportation methods could be a significant contribution to avoiding CO2 emissions in the future. The prototypes for this product have proven that a solar vehicle could easily be a practical transportation device with a daily range of 50 km per day. However, a test drive across 500 km showcased valuable design changes, such as improved component selection and durable frame design, that are needed for this product to be usable on a commercialized scale. Vehicles such as the one discussed in this paper could provide additional benefits such as power generation and provide infrastructure support for health, education, water and communications.

Abstract:
Aim/Purpose: [This Proceedings paper was revised and published in the 2018 issue of the journal Issues in Informing Science and Information Technology, Volume 15] The aim of this study was to concept test a novel instructional aid called Virtual Pathology Learning Resource (VPLR), which was used as a vehicle to communicate information, and enhance teaching and learning of basic sciences (Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology) to allied health science students at a South Australian university. Background: Pathology was traditionally taught using potted specimens to independently review macroscopic features of disease. However, this approach alone was found inadequate and ineffective. For one, the potted specimens were not easily accessible for all students. VPLR is a new teaching platform comprising of digitised human normal and human pathology specimens (histology, histopathology), patient case studies, short answer and critical thinking questions, and self-assessment quizzes. Using authentic learning theory as an educational approach, this learning resource was developed to enhance the teaching and learning of Pathology. Methodology: A cross-sectional study design was used. A survey, administered at the conclusion of the course, gathered qualitative and quantitative data concerning the perceptions and experiences of the students about VPLR. The online tool SurveyMonkey was utilised so that students could respond anonymously to a web link that displayed the questionnaire. The effectiveness of the program and its perceived impact on students was assessed using a 18-item questionnaire seeking agreement or disagreement with statements about VPLR, and open-ended questions querying the best things about VPLR, benefits to be derived, and areas for improvement. Descriptive and frequency analyses were performed. Contribution: The VPLR approach involved rich learning situations, contextualised content, and facilitated greater understanding of disease concepts and problems. Findings: In a sample of 103 Medical Radiation students, 42% of students (N=43) responded to the post-intervention survey. The majority of students reported highly positive effects for each component of the VPLR. The overall results indicated that this tool was an effective strategy in teaching Pathology as it assisted students' gaining knowledge and developing professional imaging skills. Recommendations for Practitioners: As students found VLPR to be beneficial, it is recommended that the same approach be applied for teaching of Pathology to other allied health students, such as Nursing. Other universities might consider adopting this innovation for their courses. Recommendation for Researchers: Applying VPLR to other allied health science students will be undertaken next. This innovation will be appropriate for other health science students with particular emphasis on case-based or problem-based learning, and combined with clinical experiences. Impact on Society: In reshaping the way of teaching a science course, students are benefited by a greater depth of understanding of content, and increase motivation with study. These are important to keep students engaged and prepared for practice. VPLR may impact on education and technology trends so that continuous exploration and possibilities of initiatives are ongoing to help students be successful learners. Other impacts are the new forms of learning discovered, and the renewed focus on group work and collaboration and the use of technology in innovation. Future Research: Future directions of this research would be to conduct a follow-up of this cohort of students to determine if the impacts of the innovation were durable, that means the change in perceptions and behaviour are sustained over time.

Abstract:
Th is work has the theme: Relevant considerations for inline teaching during the COVID-19 pandemic in Public Schools in Amapá. It may be considered that the online teaching has been a challenge for the teacher and for the student, because the difficulties a re innumerable: Internet access, cellphone or computer. The fact is that no one was prepared for this situation, nor the Amapá Secretariat of Education, as well as school managers, teachers students and their families. Everyone had to use creativity to develop students’ learning process. Th us, this new modality requires reflection on the consideration of relevance that can contribute to education quality. Th ese considerations highlight the importance and the family compromise at this moment to encourage the children to attend classes; teachers can create alternatives at websites, groups at social media and messengers’ apps; schools to offer tools to teachers and students in this interaction and the State Secretariat of Education providing support to enable the necessary conditions to minimize the impact suffered in relation to the students’ content and learning. Due to a certain part of the students not having access to the Internet, one of the alternatives found was delivering the activities on printed material. Our objective is knowing the difficulties presented during this period of pandemic in online education for the actors of the process and the expected solutions by the Educational System with the schools. Th e methodology used to carry out the work is based on bibliographic research. Therefore, it was found that innovation and creativity was means that the school was able to involve students so that they did not distance themselves, not necessarily using the technology, but making them part of the process and promoting reflection about their maturity in distance learning. From the above, it is concluded the importance of the Amapá State Secretariat of Education, of the school, of the teacher and the family to develop the potential of each student and to prepare them for the development of their knowledge and learning.

Abstract:
This paper presents evidence on the relationship between economic shocks to relative male wages and changes in household consumption in Mexico during the 1990s, which is a period characterized by high volatility. In addition to performing this type of analysis for Mexico for the first time, the paper makes two main contributions. The first is the use of alternative data sources to construct instrumental variables for wages. The second is to examine differences across four consumption categories: non-durable goods, durable goods, education and health. Our results for non-durable goods consumption reject the hypothesis that Mexican households are able to insure idiosyncratic risk. For the comparisons across consumption categories, the conclusion is that households in Mexico tend to react to temporary shocks by contracting the consumption of goods that represent longer-run investment in human capital, which makes them more vulnerable in the future.

Abstract:
This paper analyzes the roles of health goods and services markets within the regional integration process. It is a known fact that the consolidation of integrated markets is slower regarding social goods and services (as health and education) than among other goods and services (e.g. durable and non-durable consumption goods). The paper discusses the nature of the health sector and its global dimension, showing the peculiar features of health goods and services marked by economic complexity and (according to Arrow) information asymmetry. Despite that, the paper emphasizes old and new reasons that place health as a prerequisite to commercial integration. It approaches the role played by the State in health financing, provision and regulation and the commercial integration process.

Abstract:
Remittances from overseas can encourage human capital investment, but empirical studies have shown mixed evidence. This paper uses a 5-year panel dataset in the Kyrgyz Republic to examine the impact of remittances on the human capital formation of school-age children. After correcting for endogeneities with instrumental variables, the study finds that remittances have negative impacts on educational achievement. Extended hours of farm labor by children and increased expenditure on durable goods are identified among recipient households. To mitigate negative effects of remittances on children’s learning, the findings call for actions such as financial literacy education and better monitoring of farm labor hours of school-age children.

Abstract:

Abstract:

Abstract:
As a result of the refugee reception crisis in 2015 the advocacy for increasing resettlement numbers in the overall refugee protection framework has gained momentum, as has research on resettlement to the EU. While the UNHCR purports resettlement as a durable solution for the international protection of refugees, resettlement programmes to the European Union are seen as a pillar of the external dimension of the EU’s asylum and migration policies and management. This paper presents and discusses the literature regarding the value transmissions taking place within these programmes. It reviews literature on the European resettlement process – ranging from the selection of refugees to be resettled, the information and training they receive prior to travelling to their new country of residence, their reception upon arrival, their placement and dispersal in the receiving state, as well as programs of private and community sponsorship. The literature shows that even if resettlement can be considered an external dimension of European migration policy, this process does not end at the border. Rather, resettlement entails particular forms of reception, placement and dispersal as well as integration practices that refugees are confronted with once they arrive in their resettlement country. These practices should thus be understood in the context of the resettlement regime as a whole. In this paper we map out where and how values (here understood as ideas about how something should be) and norms (expectations or rules that are socially enforced) are transmitted within this regime. ‘Value transmission’ is here understood in a broad sense, taking into account the values that are directly transmitted through information and education programmes, as well as those informing practices and actors’ decisions. Identifying how norms and values figure in the resettlement regime aid us in further understanding decision making processes, policy making, and the on-the-ground work of practitioners that influence refugees’ lives. An important finding in this literature review is that vulnerability is a central notion in international refugee protection, and even more so in resettlement. Ideas and practices regarding vulnerability are, throughout the resettlement regime, in continuous tension with those of security, integration, and of refugees’ own agency. The literature review and our discussion serve as a point of departure for developing further investigations into the external dimension of value transmission, which in turn can add insights into the role of norms and values in the making and un-making of (external) boundaries/borders.

Abstract:

Abstract:
