Full textHair fiber is a sophisticated biological material for which the details of its molecular structure failed to be well understood because of the lack of data regarding protein expression and organization. In this context, improvement on human hair cells knowledge with proteomic approaches has been performed in this PhD. This work has been structured in four parts : establishment of the knowledge on hair biology and its molecular structure obtained by literature mining. Development of a well-suited proteomic strategy for the special case of hair proteins analysis. This strategy is mainly based on the improvement of nanoLC-ESI-Q-TOF coupling for high-throughput peptide sequencing. Cell type isolation to study the proteome of cortical and cuticular hair cells. We have compared the semi quantitative expression of the identified proteins to investigate their location in those proteomes. These analyses led to protein expression evidence for 60% of keratin associated proteins predicted genes (KAP) compared to the only 20% previously evidenced (according to Uniprot). Use of complementary approaches to attempt to refine the quantification of the major proteins of cortical cells, to evidence structural properties for specific protein sequences and to propose hypotheses for the main KAP genes origin

Full textThe topic of this thesis is: Langres- Andemantunnum (Haute-Marne, Champagne-Ardenne). Urbanistic study of the city of Lingons' capital. In order to carry out this research, excavation archives takeovers, local survey, the exploitation of eighteenth and nineteenth erudites manuscripts and unpublished notes of local researchers, among others, were required. The huge mass of data collected has helped to address new problematics regarding roads and urban organization of this ancient capital, the rampart of the Late Roman Empire, water projects, public buildings, housing, crafts, cemeteries and suburbium. Thanks to these new data it is now possible to better understand the occupation of the promontory during antiquity. The setup process of the oppidum, the development of a carefully designed urban program as of the first century AD and urban consequences of the Late Roman Empire disorders are among the fundamental stages experienced by the langrois promontory. Some of the urban organization characteristics of these different phases of occupation have influenced the current city map

Full textFor a decade, several studies have renewed significantly our knowledge about public baths and their practice in the Middle East. Unfortunately, no synthesis considering the bathing phenomenon in a diachronic perspective of history of mentalities in a single city appears to have been carried out. Based on an archaeological and architectural approach, this work at first intended to propose a diachronic synthesis of the evolution of eight public bath buildings currently known in Gerasa and their practice in history. The situation in the City of the Decapolis is then confronted to the practice of public bath in Antiquity in the Middle East, as it is known today, allowing to identify matches, differences and characteristics of the corpus of Gerasa. Based on an original methodology, this study highlights the deeply hybrid role of these institutions with natural facilities for the cleaning of the body but also specific and independent spaces for which civic, political and religious functions may be assumed

Full textMarble veneers are parietal or floor coverings that were recurrently used in the Roman world. Opus sectile pavements or marble slab coverings are two types of ornaments which offered an alternative to mosaics or painted decor, and which were used to conceal smaller dimension stones of lesser value, or concrete floors. The study of marble veneers is a research area that appeared in Italy in the 1990s and is still a matter of interest to the researchers. At the same time, the subject it still quite marginal in France, and there are few studies. Our study is mainly devoted to the marble lots that can be associated with the monumental complex of the forum, found during the recent excavations of La Merci (2011-2015), and the past excavations of the Basilica (1934-1936) and the sewer of the Dominicans (1921). The study has been extended in order to include all public and private buildings in the city, and takes into account various marble lots such as that of Corridor H od the house of the Peacock (about 4, 500 fragments). The study is based on five principal guidelines:• The identification of marbles and other stones (macroscopic identification)• The identification of the decors, their restitution and an attempt to replace into their context the marble veneers in every deposit• A reflection on trade, commercial exchanges and an estimation of the costs of these sets• The study of the marbles of Vaison-la-Romaine will lead us to a historical reflection which will examine questions related to the luxury and the prestige of the city• The question of the dismantling of various monuments and the study of the deposits as such
