<p><em>In order to understand the full image concerning activity of regional TV channels we used the comparative analysis method. Due to its components such as analogy, analysis and composition, </em><em>comparing separate events and processes (in order to conduct its quality and quantity characteristics) we reached the possibility to identify similarities and differences in approaches, management, styles of TV channels in Odesa region, Poltava region, Sumy region and Chernivtsi region. Taking as a basis a fact that absolutely different issues are to be compared, subjects of research are TV channels both similar, and different according to its technical capacities, resource capabilities such as city and regional level TV channels.</em></p><p class="s4"><em>We concluded that regional television channels, which, in turn, differ in the number of employees, transmitter power, coverage radius of the broadcast signal, etc., to considerable extent lack of genre diversity, the breadth of themes. The reasons for this are, on the one hand, in insufficient financial and economic opportunities, and on the other hand, in the absence of creativity, unwillingness to change something in their work. In addition, as the study shows, not in all cases the decisive factors here are the scale of the channel, the number of employees, and the level of resource support.</em></p><p><em>Regional television channels and regional media as a whole are currently functioning in conditions of incredible competition in the market for information influence, a substantial increase in content, thematic offerings at times, in conditions of expanding communication platforms and the source database. Abstract:
Analysis of Social Networks on Multiculturalism: Youtube Reaction Videos Abstract Multiculturalism is one of the most important concepts brought about by the disappearance of borders in the geographical and cultural areas, the acceleration of mobility and information flow in the international arena, and especially in the 20th century. The concept of multiculturalism, which has the ideals of preventing racism and discrimination, increasing tolerance and sensitivity towards differences and providing intercultural interaction, has been moved to a different dimension at the point where today's world has come. Multiculturalism serves cultural processes by gaining meaning in internet environments as a field that allows cultural construction processes to take place. The study aims to contribute to the definition of the concept of multiculturalism at the level of state policies as well as its definition in the digital field. In this direction, it is aimed to reveal the contribution of multiculturalism with examples via YouTube, one of the most used social networks worldwide. On YouTube, the channel containing the reactions of a user of different cultures by watching Turkish music videos and examples from this channel were analyzed using content analysis method. Structured Abstract: The most common interpretation of globalization is the idea that the world has become more homogeneous and standardized through a technological, commercial and cultural synchronization spreading from the West, and that globalization is connected with modernity. Globalization, which is frequently discussed today, is a comprehensive concept that is based on geographical discoveries and extends to the state it has taken under the influence of today's technological developments. In today's world, globalization has turned into a way of life and has become the normal of our daily lives. Globalization in general; the disappearance of national borders, allowing the free movement of goods, services and cultures around the world. Robertson says that globalization is centered around two main orientations. While the first refers to economic interdependence, the other refers to the globalization of institutions, communities and practices (2013: 136). Globalization includes several dimensions. The cultural dimension is among the most important of these. The cultural dimension of globalization can be considered within the scope of transportation, communication and communication as a result of its economic basis. The fact that different parts of the world are in contact with economic purposes has allowed different cultures to get to know each other, and cultures that include small groups to be noticed. Intercultural interaction has reached a high level with digital communication channels. The cultural dimension of globalization has led to the emergence of various concepts. Multiculturalism is one of these concepts. Multiculturalism, as a system of thought, defines the fair promotion of different cultures in the public sphere and the peaceful coexistence of different cultural communities within the same political organization (Dotycheva, 2009:12). In the digital age we live in, every field has a multicultural structure. The fact that communication tools enable universal communication has led to the emergence of social networks. The borderless structure of social networks directly serves multiculturalism. Youtube, chosen as the subject of analysis of the study, is a social network that is visited and content is produced by millions of people around the world. Cultural content is also produced on YouTube, where all kinds of videos can be shared. It allows a culture to introduce itself and spread it from various aspects. It does this effectively with the power of visuality. By accessing the content on this network from all over the world, it is possible to watch videos, obtain information, give feedback and contribute to the expansion of the content by producing. YouTube's “Kingdom of Luke” channel, chosen as the field of study, shows its experiences about different cultures by watching music clips from different countries. While creating content, it does a preliminary research about the video to watch instead of just watching. Considering the five videos selected as a sample, 60% of the videos explain the content and give information about the song. It gives information about the song genre in 40% of the videos. Explains the musical genres that have their own characteristics as “anthem” and “folk song” and indicates their characteristics. The channel owner gives information about the singers in 100% of the videos. Explain what kind of music the singers make, their life, their place and importance in Turkish music. In this way, he gets information about the culture he is foreign to through the artists. It gives historical information on 60% of the pieces. The channel owner makes inferences about culture in 60% of the videos he examines. All of these videos are pieces with historical content. He states that as a result of his viewing experience, he was influenced by pieces with historical content and shared a sense of victory and struggle. This shows that even though it is experienced by different societies, all world rights can develop common feelings in situations such as war, destruction and victory. There are Turkish and English comments in all of the videos and in the comments under the video. This shows that besides being watched by users from Turkey, it is watched by different cultures or that users use the universal language English to appeal to all cultures. Thanks to the video content, a content producer from a different culture gained knowledge as a result of his researches and impressions about the culture he is foreign to; It has made them accessible to millions of people by publishing them on the most used video sharing site all over the world. Many people had the opportunity to access this video, and those who watched the content had the opportunity to have information about Turkish culture. These contents, which contribute to the multicultural structure in the digital field, contribute to the empathy of different cultures with each other and to develop positive thoughts about culture; It emphasizes love and respect by preventing racism and discrimination. Abstract:
Abstract Assimilating any complex economic system with a fractal, in the most general Mandelbrot’s sense, non – differentiable behaviors in its economic dynamics are analyzed. As such, economic dynamics in the form of Schrödinger – type various regimes imply “holographic implementations” of the economic processes through group invariance of SL(2R) – type. Then, by means of previous group invariance as synchronization group between any economic system entities, both the phases and the amplitudes of the entities are affected from a homographic perspective. The usual “synchronization” manifested through the delay of the amplitudes and phases of the entities of the economic system must represent here only a fully particular case. In a special case of synchronization of economic system entities, given by Riccati type gauge, period doubling, damping oscillations, self – modulation and chaotic regimes emerge as natural behaviors in the economic dynamics of the economic processes.

"The Pyrexia transient receptor potential channel mediates circadian clock synchronization to low temperature cycles in Drosophila melanogaster." Abstract:
Circadian clocks are endogenous approximately 24 h oscillators that temporally regulate many physiological and behavioural processes. In order to be beneficial for the organism, these clocks must be synchronized with the environmental cycles on a daily basis. Both light : dark and the concomitant daily temperature cycles (TCs) function as Zeitgeber (‘time giver’) and efficiently entrain circadian clocks. The temperature receptors mediating this synchronization have not been identified. Transient receptor potential (TRP) channels function as thermo-receptors in animals, and here we show that the Pyrexia (Pyx) TRP channel mediates temperature synchronization in Drosophila melanogaster . Pyx is expressed in peripheral sensory organs (chordotonal organs), which previously have been implicated in temperature synchronization. Flies deficient for Pyx function fail to synchronize their behaviour to TCs in the lower range (16–20°C), and this deficit can be partially rescued by introducing a wild-type copy of the pyx gene. Synchronization to higher TCs is not affected, demonstrating a specific role for Pyx at lower temperatures. In addition, pyx mutants speed up their clock after being exposed to TCs. Our results identify the first TRP channel involved in temperature synchronization of circadian clocks.

Abstract:
The cyclicity of economic phenomena is not only their immanent property but also the subject of economic analysis. The modern way of making managerial decisions requires analysis of a number of cycles that fill any kind of activity. Accounting and reconciliation of construction, design, investment, purchasing, reproduction, leasing and other cycles is important for the investment and construction sector, both from the point of view of the need for their synchronization and from the position of determining trends in sectoral development. The analysis has showed that three main types of development are characteristic for investment and construction activity. Increasing intensity is inherent in a high level of cyclic synchronization. The degradation trend arises as a result of mismatched cycles. The stabilization character is inherent in the regular modes of maintaining the established proportions and cyclical inter-conformity. The study of the cyclical nature of investment and building processes is impossible without understanding their co-ordination. The principles of synchronization and subordination of the cycles should be used not only for the construction of cost-effective systems but also for the development of management tools.

Abstract:
To characterize system cognitive processes during deception, event-related coherence was computed to investigate the functional connectivity among brain regions underlying neural oscillation synchronization. In this study, 15 participants were randomly assigned to honesty or deception groups and were instructed to tell the truth or lie when facing certain stimuli. Meanwhile, event-related potential signals were recorded using a 64-channel electroencephalography cap. Event-related coherence was computed separately in four frequency bands (delta (1-3.5 Hz), theta (4-7 Hz), alpha (8-13 Hz), and beta (14-30 HZ)) for the long-range intrahemispheric electrode pairs (F3P3, F4P4, F3T7, F4T8, F3O1, and F4O2). The results indicated that deceptive responses elicited greater connectivities in the frontoparietal and frontotemporal networks than in the frontooccipital network. Furthermore, the deception group displayed lower values of coherence in the frontoparietal electrode pairs in the alpha and beta bands than the honesty group. In particular, increased coherence in the delta and theta bands on specific left frontoparietal electrode pairs was observed. Additionally, the deception group exhibited higher values of coherence in the delta band and lower values of coherence in the beta band on the frontotemporal electrode pairs than did the honesty group. These data indicated that the active cognitive processes during deception include changes in ensemble activities between the frontal and parietal/temporal regions.

Abstract:
The dissertation for a Candidate Degree in Economics. Speciality 08.00.02 – World Economy and International Economic Relations. – V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, Kharkiv, 2018. The dissertation provides a deeper theoretical and methodological grounding for the studies of global economic system cyclical development and stability of Ukrainian economic development. The study examined scientific arguments and characterized the patterns of existing economic cycles. As a result of combination of the groups of theories, the definition of economic cycle was refined and put forward as a special type of periodic fluctuations in economic activity around the long-term trend, caused by internal features of the economic system and by a set of external factors that manifest themselves through volatility of most macroeconomic indicators. The dissertation proposes a new product based approach to the study of economic cycles, which considers life-cycle of goods circulating in the market. Within this approach, the product life-cycle stages are identified with the phases of economic cycle. On this ground, the well-known economic cycles of different periods correspond to the life-cycle of goods with a similar period of circulation in the market. The results of this study construct a model of economic system dynamics, which consists from R. Solow economic growth model and cyclical component that includes economic cycles with different periodicity. Based on this model, an algorithm for predicting economic performance that takes into account economic cycles was developed. This algorithm is based on the grey box method, according to which the economic trend is a predefined component, and economic cycles become the subject of the model study. Practical application of the prediction algorithm is based on the Hodrick-Prescott filter as a method of detrending and Fast Fourier Transform as a method of spectral analysis of the cyclic component. With the help of the proposed model of economic system cyclical performance, the dynamics of world GDP in the period between 1960-2016 was analysed, and a forecast was made up to 2021. It is argued then that the world economy development performance during the period viewed contains a prominent 16-year long cycle. The cyclic features of economic activity were traced in such macroeconomic indicators as GDP growth rate, inflation rate, unemployment rate, as well as the amount of foreign direct investment. On the basis of the proposed model of cyclical economic system dynamics, we can define 8-year long cycles in foreign direct investment dynamics and in mergers and acquisitions agreements, triggered at the extremes of the economic cycle. The results of the study revealed certain patterns of economic cycles that take place within the global economic system: economic cycles in developed countries are fast-paced compared to developing countries; the amplitude of economic fluctuations around the long-term trend in developing countries is 1.9 times more than in developed countries; high economic growth rates correspond to high volatility in economic development rates; international trade plays a major role in synchronization of economic processes in the global economic system; net exports and current account balance performance in developed and developing countries are indirectly proportional; foreign direct investment performance is closely related to economic cycle phases. The study also defines the main goal of government economic policy, which needs to ensure dynamic consistency that presupposes stable economic growth within the given frames. To achieve stable economic development, government regulation of the economy should be based on the built-in stabilizers, to which we include automatic change in tax revenues and payments, depending on the business cycle phase. The thesis develops an econometric model of Ukrainian economic growth dynamics based on ARIMA models, revealing the essence of economic cycles in Ukrainian national economy at its present stage, as well as the factors determining parameters of economic cycles on a national scale. Organizational and economic foundations for increasing Ukraine’s international competitiveness with the purpose of adapting to the volatile global economic space, were determined in order to reduce the negative effect of global economic system cyclical development and accelerate the economic growth. Keywords: global economic system, world economy, economic cycle, business cycle, cyclical economic development, economic crisis, economic processes synchronization channels, model of dynamics of the economic system, anti-cyclical economic policy.

Abstract:
Investment is no longer a matter of individual savers directly choosing which shares or bonds to buy. Rather, most of their money flows through a ‘chain’: an often extended sequence of intermediaries. What goes on in that chain is of huge importance: the world’s investment managers, who are now almost as well paid as top bankers, control assets equivalent in value to around a year of total global economic output. In Chains of Finance, five social scientists (four of whom have worked in investment management) discuss the ways in which the intermediaries in the chain influence each other, channel the flows of savers’ money, enhance investment decisions, and form audiences for each other’s performances of financially competent selves. The central argument of the book is that investment management is fashioned profoundly by the opportunities and constraints this chain creates. Whether chains constrain or enable, however, they always entangle, tying intermediaries to each other—silently and profoundly shaping the investment management industry. Chains of Finance is a novel analysis that will make students, social scientists, financial professionals and regulators look at the workings of financial markets in a new light. A must-read for anyone looking for insights into the decision-making processes of investment managers and those influenced by and working for them.

The rapid growth of Internet technologies induced a structural change in both social and economic spheres. Digital channels have become an integral part of daily life, and their influence on the transfer of information has become ubiquitous. An entirely new business dimension that may be referred to as the Net economy has emerged. Internet-based e-ventures that are operating at this electronic trade level are based on innovative and promising online business models (Kollmann, 2006). But also traditional enterprises that are operating at the physical trade level (real economy) increasingly utilize digital channels to improve their business processes and to reach new customer segments. With the Internet, the cooperation between enterprises reached a new level of quality. The wide, open, and cost-effective infrastructure allows a simple, fast exchange of data and thus a synchronization of business processes over large distances. Particularly for e-ventures introducing their new business ideas, online cooperation is a promising strategy as it enables the partners to create more attractive product offers and represents a basis for more efficiently and effectively communicating and distributing their product offers (Kollmann, 2004; Volkmann & Tokarski, 2006). Online cooperation, however, does not incorporate off-line channels such as print media, stores, or sales forces. For the combined management of online and offline channels, cooperation can be expected to hold an outstanding potential. Partnering with companies from the Net economy may help traditional enterprises to reach new market segments without extending themselves beyond their core competencies—and vice versa. In this context, cross-channel cooperation can be defined as the collaborative integration of online and offline business models aiming at attaining positive synergetic effects for the involved partners by a complement of competencies. (Kollmann & Häsel, 2006, p. 3) Cross-channel cooperation can be regarded a new management task that is worthwhile to be examined in more detail. Although researchers have broadly covered the area of online cooperation, a comprehensive study on cross-channel cooperation has not been undertaken up to now. Particularly the question arises, which cooperation forms represent feasible strategies for both e-ventures and traditional enterprises. Besides its contribution to literature, this article is intended to assist practitioners in evaluating the benefits of crosschannel cooperation for their own businesses.

Abstract:
This introductory chapter provides an overview of the interlinked themes of political economy, governmentality, and institutional configuration that the book will explore. It begins with a brief exploration of the roles that networked information technologies and law play in relation to economic and political power: through their capacities to authorize, channel, and modulate information flows and behavior patterns, code and law mediate between truth and power. It then briefly sketches the ongoing and interrelated transformations in political economy and political ideology (or governmentality) that are now underway. Finally, it returns to law, situating legal institutions within processes of economic and ideological transformation.

In the present conditions of the world economy development, the efficiency of traditional measures of governance is significantly reducing. The globalization, the formation of transnational networks of inputs and finished goods distribution, and the mobilization of capital and labor are limiting the regulatory competences of governments, and are threatening their existence as economical subjects. Under these conditions it requires upgrading to modernize the infrastructure and the principles of government regulation. The study takes a new paradigm of state economic regulation, based on the synchronization of interests of business, state, and society, and on the defining the principles of government participation in the global economic processes. As a tool for business consolidation and improving the efficiency of state regulation, the formation of e-government was considered. The paper characterizes the e-government as a new form of state regulation of economy. The factors of effective e-government implementation strategy were analyzed. The experience of digitalization of governmental functions in modern states, and the rates of asynchrony of development of electronic government in the world as they relate with the economic efficiency of modern states, were considered.

Abstract:
The Danube Delta is the newest land formed by both transporting sediments brought by Danube River, which flows into the Black Sea and by traversing an inland region where water spreads and deposits sediments. Diurnal tidal action is low (only 8–9 cm), therefore the sediments would wash out into the water body faster than the river deposits it. However, a seasonal fluctuation of water level of 20 cm was observed in the Black Sea, contributing to alluvial landscape evolution in the Danube Delta. The Danube Delta is a very low flat plain, lying 0.52 m above Mean Black Sea Level with a general gradient of 0.006 m/km and only 20% of the delta area is below zero level. The main control on deposition, which is a combination of river, wind-generated waves, and tidal processes, depends on the strength of each one. The other two factors that play a major role are landscape position and the grain size distribution of the source sediment entering the delta from the river. The Danube Delta is a natural protected area in the South-Eastern part of Romania, declared a Biosphere Reserve through the UNESCO “Man and Biosphere” Programme. Water is a determining factor for all the human settlements in the Biosphere Reserve, the whole Danube Delta being structured by the three branches of the Danube (Chilia, Sulina and Sfantu Gheorghe (Saint George)). Our case study is focused on the Sulina branch, also named Sulina Channel, which offers the shortest distance between the Black Sea (trough Sulina Port) and Tulcea (the most important city of the Danube Delta from economic, social and cultural points of view) for both fluvial and marine ships. The improvement of water resources management is the main topic of this chapter, in terms of water quality indicators, which will be presented in twenty-nine monitoring points, starting since a few years ago and updated to nowadays. During the study period, significant exceedances of the limit value were detected in case of nitrate-N (3.9–4.6 mg/L) at the confluence (CEATAL 2) with the Saint George branch and in the Sulina Channel after the Wastewaters Treatment Plant (WWTP) discharge area, as well as near two settlements, namely Gorgova and Maliuc. The higher concentrations of Nitrogen-based nutrients were caused by the leakage from the old sewage systems (where these exist) and the diffuse loads.

Abstract:
On the eve of the interwar period, a set of interrelated structural factors (i.e. socio-economic development and state- and nation-building processes) had created a distinction between resilient democracies installed before the end of World War I and fragile new democracies. Our theoretical framework proposes that these deep structural conditions were linked to interwar democratic survival via a set of more proximate factors, namely, democratic legacies and a strong associational landscape (i.e. vibrant civil societies and institutionalized parties). These factors increased the likelihood that political actors would comply with the democratic rules of the game via a number of mechanisms, such as democratic learning, mutual trust among key political actors, and the capacity to channel the ideas and frustrations of opposing societal groups via the established political institutions. Anti-democratic forces had only little support and room to manoeuvre in cases with firm democratic legacies and associational landscapes. On the contrary, where these factors were absent, democracies broke down after a few years. Finally, where they were partly present, democracies went through prolonged crises only to eventually break down, often during the Great Depression of the 1930s.

"in the Limpopo valley harvest labour was needed for rice production at the agro-industrial complexes at the same time that the peasants needed to harvest their own plots. The colonial settlers had relied on force and on the use of task work to cope with this. Hence, the peasants would start very early in the morning to harvest a designated area at the settler farms and subsequently move on to their family plots. The wage would supplement the income and subsistence acquired from the family plot. However, when the state farms tried to introduce an eight-hour working day (instead of task work), they experi-enced an immense withdrawal of labour when it was most needed. The wage did not cover the consumption needs of a family throughout the year and, increasingly, money did not guarantee access to goods or did so only at the cost of accepting catastrophic reduction in the real wage. Similar shortage problems of labour were experienced in the plantation sectors, in food pro-duction in state complexes of Angonia or Zambezia, on cotton farms in the north, etc. The co-operative movement, which was never very strong since it had never received the effective material backing of the state, was further weakened by the fact that the development of parallel markets within the rural economy enfeebled the poorer peasantry even further. The latter would have to be the social force to be mobilised behind the co-operative movement; rather, it became economically weakened as a result of its rapidly deteriorating real incomes and the fact that the existing co-operative movement provided no real alternative. The government policy to link up purchase with sale so as to stimulate rural production did nothing to counteract this process of differen-tiation but, rather, tended to intensify it. Indeed, rural trade between the state and the peasantry was intermediated by private trade. The policy gave them an increased leverage over the peasantry and allowed them to channel more crops into the parallel markets since they effectively traded at terms of exchange which were less favourable than those laid down officially. Furthermore, the impact was that the supply of com-modities became concentrated in the hands of the richer peasantry (who had surpluses to sell) and this gave them leverage over the poorer peasantry. Finally, this process did not take place within conditions of peace but, rather, within an ever-spreading war situation. The South African-backed MNR was gradually spreading throughout the whole country and its acts of brutal oppression of the population and of sabotage and destruction of the whole network of social and economic infrastructure led to the increased destabilisation of the economy and society. To combat this force, a strong alliance between the army and the peasantry was necessary. But this alliance itself became weakened by the worsening of the economic situation of the peasantry. Economic investment was concentrated in bis projects within the state sector and these became the target of MNR attacks. On the other hand, the destabilis-ing effect of the concentration of resources on the state sector and of off-loading the burden of the costs on to the peasantry through the inflationary issue of money, unbacked by material resources, weakened the peasantry economically and intensified processes of differentiation. At the time of the preparation for the Fourth Congress it was not surprising." In The Agrarian Question in Socialist Transitions, 209. Routledge, 2013. http://dx.doi.org/10.4324/9780203043493-32.

Abstract:
Fruit is a highly valuable food whose consumption should be encouraged. In addition, it would be desirable to design processes and products to channel the surplus and take advantage of the post-harvest losses that limit its fresh marketing. Freeze-drying is a known industrial process that permits the obtaining of high quality products, despite having always been labeled as very expensive. In this study, the economic feasibility of freeze-drying to obtain powdered fruit has been proven, as it yields a product more than twice as cheap as when obtained by spray-drying, recognized for its low cost. Abstract:
Abstract Hydraulic fracturing effectiveness depends on the cost and properties of the selected propping agent. The methods and fluids that create fracture width and transport the proppant along the fracture width also have a significant impact. Recent advancements related to channel fracturing design, execution, and evaluation addressing all these components have enabled proper modeling and further treatment optimization. This work provides a detailed overview of several years of laboratory experiments, research, modeling, and global field testing of enhanced channel fracturing methods. Channel fracturing is well known for breaking the link between fracture conductivity and proppant permeability by replacing a continuous proppant pack with open channels inside the fracture using intermittent proppant feeding. To prevent proppant settling during fracture closure, degradable fibers have been effectively utilized within the fracturing fluid for over 10 years. This technique achieves maximum fracture conductivity while minimizing proppant cost. Decoupling proppant performance and fracture conductivity enables replacing ceramics by natural sand, thereby significantly improving field development economics in many areas of the world. Furthermore, extensive laboratory research has qualified new fibers for application of channel fracturing across a wider reservoir temperature range. Research and laboratory experiments were conducted to construct a workflow to model and optimize sand transport and the resulting channel geometry. Fiber and proppant transport modeling results compare extremely well with experimental results and provide excellent resolution and accuracy. This work also demonstrates that intermittent pulses of proppant with fiber effectively creates reliable channels in the fracture. Also, improved software and equipment enhancements allowed accurate fiber and proppant synchronization, making the placement of fiber-free channels possible. Recently developed advanced modeling tools have improved understanding of channel formation in the fracture, thereby enabling treatment design optimization. The enhanced models further enable evaluation of different materials selection, for instance, replacing ceramic proppant with natural sand in the channeled area of the fracture. A comprehensive case study of channel fracturing implementation in Saudi Arabia proved the method to be effective for improving proppant placement and fracture geometry to yield improved incremental production. Another field case in the region demonstrated the ability to replace ceramic proppant with natural sand without sacrificing any channel conductivity. The study breaks new ground in the stimulation of extreme low temperature and high temperature formations by extending the channel fracturing technique, enabled by the introduction of a new solids transport concept and the development of new fiber compositions. When combined with accurate modeling, improved economic results were achieved by using locally produced sands to replace ceramic proppant while consistently delivering highly conductive fractures. The project includes laboratory testing, a detailed simulation model description, and field examples.

Abstract:
The article discusses the development of engineering and geological research on the example of prospecting and exploration of popular common (construction) minerals in the Krasnodar Territory. A comparative characteristic of the history of engineering geology development is given by analyzing the data of the Fund of the "KUBANGEOLOGY" and the planned economy of the USSR. The set goals and objectives of the planned economy of the USSR directly stimulated engineering and geological research. The peak of prospecting and exploration of popular common (construction) minerals in the Krasnodar Territory falls on the decade from 1970 to 1980, and the main rates - for the period from 1950 to 1980 - during the intensive growth of road, industrial and civil construction. Having arisen to solve the problems of engineering and economic development of territories, engineering geology developed not only in a geological, but geotechnical channel, as evidenced by the separation of surveys from it. The final differentiation from the beginning of 1960 of engineering geology into engineering-geological surveys and engineering geology of building materials proves the need for separation of surveys due to the accumulated regulatory framework and the scale of engineering-geological research, therefore, of the "KUBANGEOLOGY" switched to monitoring of hazardous processes of the geological environment, which is confirmed by the analysis of the fund.

Exploring mechanisms involved in grape bud dormancy: Large-scale analysis of expression reprogramming following controlled dormancy induction and dormancy release. Abstract:
The timing of dormancy induction and release is very important to the economic production of table grape. Advances in manipulation of dormancy induction and dormancy release are dependent on the establishment of a comprehensive understanding of biological mechanisms involved in bud dormancy. To gain insight into these mechanisms we initiated the research that had two main objectives: A. Analyzing the expression profiles of large subsets of genes, following controlled dormancy induction and dormancy release, and assessing the role of known metabolic pathways, known regulatory genes and novel sequences involved in these processes B. Comparing expression profiles following the perception of various artificial as well as natural signals known to induce dormancy release, and searching for gene showing similar expression patterns, as candidates for further study of pathways having potential to play a central role in dormancy release. We first created targeted EST collections from V. vinifera and V. riparia mature buds. Clones were randomly selected from cDNA libraries prepared following controlled dormancy release and controlled dormancy induction and from respective controls. The entire collection (7920 vinifera and 1194 riparia clones) was sequenced and subjected to bioinformatics analysis, including clustering, annotations and GO classifications. PCR products from the entire collection were used for printing of cDNA microarrays. Bud tissue in general, and the dormant bud in particular, are under-represented within the grape EST database. Accordingly, 59% of the our vinifera EST collection, composed of 5516 unigenes, are not included within the current Vitis TIGR collection and about 22% of these transcripts bear no resemblance to any known plant transcript, corroborating the current need for our targeted EST collection and the bud specific cDNA array. Analysis of the V. riparia sequences yielded 814 unigenes, of which 140 are unique (keilin et al., manuscript, Appendix B). Results from computational expression profiling of the vinifera collection suggest that oxidative stress, calcium signaling, intracellular vesicle trafficking and anaerobic mode of carbohydrate metabolism play a role in the regulation and execution of grape-bud dormancy release. A comprehensive analysis confirmed the induction of transcription from several calcium–signaling related genes following HC treatment, and detected an inhibiting effect of calcium channel blocker and calcium chelator on HC-induced and chilling-induced bud break. It also detected the existence of HC-induced and calcium dependent protein phosphorylation activity. These data suggest, for the first time, that calcium signaling is involved in the mechanism of dormancy release (Pang et al., in preparation). We compared the effects of heat shock (HS) to those detected in buds following HC application and found that HS lead to earlier and higher bud break. We also demonstrated similar temporary reduction in catalase expression and temporary induction of ascorbate peroxidase, glutathione reductase, thioredoxin and glutathione S transferase expression following both treatments. These findings further support the assumption that temporary oxidative stress is part of the mechanism leading to bud break. The temporary induction of sucrose syntase, pyruvate decarboxylase and alcohol dehydrogenase indicate that temporary respiratory stress is developed and suggest that mitochondrial function may be of central importance for that mechanism. These finding, suggesting triggering of identical mechanisms by HS and HC, justified the comparison of expression profiles of HC and HS treated buds, as a tool for the identification of pathways with a central role in dormancy release (Halaly et al., in preparation). RNA samples from buds treated with HS, HC and water were hybridized with the cDNA arrays in an interconnected loop design. Differentially expressed genes from the were selected using R-language package from Bioconductor project called LIMMA and clones showing a significant change following both HS and HC treatments, compared to control, were selected for further analysis. A total of 1541 clones show significant induction, of which 37% have no hit or unknown function and the rest represent 661 genes with identified function. Similarly, out of 1452 clones showing significant reduction, only 53% of the clones have identified function and they represent 573 genes. The 661 induced genes are involved in 445 different molecular functions. About 90% of those functions were classified to 20 categories based on careful survey of the literature. Among other things, it appears that carbohydrate metabolism and mitochondrial function may be of central importance in the mechanism of dormancy release and studies in this direction are ongoing. Analysis of the reduced function is ongoing (Appendix A). A second set of hybridizations was carried out with RNA samples from buds exposed to short photoperiod, leading to induction of bud dormancy, and long photoperiod treatment, as control. Analysis indicated that 42 genes were significant difference between LD and SD and 11 of these were unique.
