Abstract:

Respondents amounted to 100 people who were members of the Yasinan group with the data collection method using a questionnaire. The results of the study indicate that 1) Tax morale and tax compliance have an influence on decision making with the correlation coefficient of the two independent variables being 0.564 and 0.495. The amount of efficiency of tax moral determination and tax compliance on decision-making together is 0.368. The regression line equation is Y = 0.360 + 0365X1 + 0.145X2. 2) Gender does not affect the tax moral and tax compliance variables. 3) Women's tax morale is based on ethics and heart, while men's is based on logic and principles. Men dominate tax responsibilities in the family, however, in terms of financial arrangements for taxes and tax calculation, most of them are dominated by women. Abstract:
David Gauthier's Morals by Agreement is an impressive — indeed, daunting — exercise in contractarian moral and political philosophy. The primary purpose of his treatise is to explicate practical rationality as constrained maximization and morality as compliance with these constraints. Gauthier offers an account of which constraints on straightforward utility maximization each rational individual will be prepared to accept and comply with on the condition that other individuals also will accept and comply with them as well as an explanation of why compliance with those constraints counts as morality. However, although Morals by Agreement is in the great tradition of Hobbesian moral and political theorizing, Gauthier's morality by agreement does not begin with the Hobbesian state of nature. Gauthier does not start by envisioning a Hobbesian war of all against all which has been generated by rational individuals, each pursuing his own maximum utility, and then asking what constraints on this no-holds-barred utility maximization would be mutually advantageous and therefore mutually rational.

Abstract:
This study discusses the Theory of Producer Behavior in Islamic Economics and Conventional Economics (Comparative Study) with the following topics: (1) How is the theory of producer behaviour in Islamic and conventional economics? (2) What is the difference between the theory of producer behaviour in Islamic and conventional economics? The research that the author does is included in the research (Research library) in the form of library research that takes data from references, books, journals, and articles on the internet related to the problem. The results of the research conducted by the author can be conveyed as follows: (1) The theory of producer behaviour in Islamic economics that in creating a product or service, a producer does not only pay attention to what are human needs, but producers must also pay attention to the halal and haram of a product so as not to damage the morale of consumers. Furthermore, Islamic economics strongly encourages producers to improve the quality and welfare of the world and morals as business actors in creating happiness in the hereafter. Meanwhile, the theory of producer behaviour in the conventional economy does not pay attention to things like this. It only pays attention to how to generate maximum profits with small capital, which is very dominant. This is what causes a producer to ignore his social responsibilities. As the theory of theoretical rationality, where humans are called economically rational if they always maximize their interests, in conventional economics, the main motive of production is to maximize profits. (2) Comparison of the theories of producer behaviour in Islamic economics and conventional economics: The theories offered by Islamic economics are very different from the conventional concept of behaviour in terms of differences of opinion of scientists, their motivation, and goals in producing, and the concept. The theories observed by Islamic economic actors are monotheism, justice, freedom, belief, and halal.

Abstract:
The fear expresses, that norms of morals and morals in modern cjnditions of the Russian society as a whole? And the business world in particular, are strongly dim. The concept “intelligence” not in a fashion and its disappearance looks today as natural process. The question on necessity of increase of business culture of the manager – manager rises, lack or which absence sooner or later will be wrapped up by economic losses, and further – crisis. Difficult to consider an ethics role in the sphere of the economic relations because of their nature based on utilitarian interest which absence inevitably results in stagnation, degradation of economy and as a result to fall of a standard of living of the population. Economy operate not only economic laws. It is impossible to ignore a human factor that means impossibility of an exception of freedom of a moral choice from economic processes. Therefore, the moral principles too are economic factor since rules of the free market are based that people adhere to the general moral and ethical reference points in the course of labor activity.

Abstract:
PurposeTo provide a sound understanding of Zakah compliance behaviour, this paper aims to shed light on the relationships between Zakah system fairness, Zakah morale, peer influence and law enforcement with Zakah compliance behaviour among entrepreneurs.Design/methodology/approachThe underpinning model used in this paper is the socio-economic theory of regulatory compliance for assessing the probable determinants shaping Zakah payers' compliance behaviour. Based on a survey of active entrepreneurs in a typical Islamic situation like Yemen, a total of 500 self-administered instruments were distributed to the respondents. Partial least squares-structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM) was used to estimate the compliance model.FindingsAll the variables included in the compliance model are statistically significant, except for law enforcement. Zakah compliance of entrepreneurs is significantly influenced by Zakah system fairness, Zakah morale and peer influence.Practical implicationsZakah institutions and agencies in Muslim-majority countries may use the results of this work to focus attention on appropriate proactive policies to formulate a fair Zakah system, inculcating moral responsibility among Zakah payers, embarking on sensitisation programmes in society as a whole, and being more proactive in educating Muslims in the importance of paying Zakah to the respective Zakah agencies.Originality/valueThis paper complements the limited literature on Zakah by examining both tangible and intangible motivations affecting Zakah payers' compliance decision.

The question of government and morality is raised by public clashes over the proper role, if any, of government regulation of morals, or government fostering of things conducive to moral behavior. There are minimalist and maximalist views, akin to the failed ideologies of complete laissez-faire and full government ownership in the economic realm. Between the extremes, which have failed in the moral as well as the economic realm, there is a proper sphere for government support of morality, and institutions that produce virtue and civilized citizens. In particular, there is a need restore authority to the family, moral education to the schools, and parental responsibility and choice in education.

This study is motivated by moral learning which sometimes makes students bored. Text books or modules that contain moral lessons, make students lazy to read them. Students only get knowledge about the morals of learning through textbooks, modules, from information conveyed by the teacher. Students also do not know the meaning, do not appreciate, and do not know how to apply morals in real life everyday. Moral learning in schools is only normative and dogmatic in nature, so teachers only pay attention to the cognitive aspects, while the psychomotor and affective aspects receive less attention. Novels are one source of moral learning. This is because the figures and settings in the novel can be used as examples and guidelines for students in living moral lives in society. Abstract:
Abstract:This essay discusses the place of business principles and of moral sentiments in economic success, and examines the role of cultures in influencing norms of business behavior. Two presumptions held in standard economic analysis are disputed: the rudimentary nature of business principles (essentially restricted, directly or indirectly, to profit maximization), and the allegedly narrow reach of moral sentiments (often treated to be irrelevant to business and economics). In contrast, the author argues for the need to recognize the complex structure of business principles and the extensive reach of moral sentiments by using theoretical considerations, a thorough analysis of Adam Smith’s work, and a careful interpretation of Japan’s remarkable economic success. Referring to the economic corruption in Italy and the “grabbing culture” in Russia, he further shows how deeply the presence or absence of particular features of business ethics can influence the operation of the economy, and even the nature of the society and its politics. Being an Indian himself, he warns against grand generalizations like the superiority of “Asian values” over traditional Western morals. To conclude, it is diversity—over space, over time, and between groups —that makes the study of business principles and moral sentiments a rich source of understanding and explanation.

Abstract:
Abstract This essay is a bi-disciplinary effort in applied ethics by a theologian and an economist who both share the convictions of the Christian faith and wish to demonstrate the significance of this faith for the vexing question of economic inequality. Following the see- judge- act- model often used in public theology, it examines first conceptual matters in order to define economic inequality and undertake a limited descriptive task to get a clearer empirical picture of what economic inequality entails. There is then a moral assessment of economic inequalities (“judge”) where ethically acceptable and objectionable aspects of inequality from the economic and theological perspectives are distinguished. From these perspectives, this essay concludes with possible interventions and actions (“act”) to reduce morally unacceptable forms of economic inequality and scope for co-operative efforts between economics and public theology in this area.

Abstract:

Abstract:
This paper reports on a questionnaire survey of 1146 ethical investors in the UK. Ethical investing usually means that certain companies are excluded from one's portfolio on non-economic grounds, e.g. because they manufacture armaments, test chemicals on live animals, or have poor pollution records. Is this an example where moral commitment rather than economics is driving economic decision making? Ethical investors were found to be neither cranks nor saints holding both ethical and not so ethical investments at the same time. A case is made that people are prepared to put their money where their morals are although there is no straightforward trade-off between principles and money. A broader analysis than that based on rational economic man is recommended: an economic psychology.

Abstract:

Abstract:
The business world had suffered a lot of decadence in its corporate life notably in the 21st Century. Reportedly, corruption, morale decadence and productivity downturn are some proven challenges inimical to the growth of firms. The situation tends to be more pervasive in consideration of the dwindling economy of many developing nations. Corruption and its dreadful menace have constituted major issues of discourse in the literature of firms and the library of nations. Corruption hurts firms. Poor performing firms relative to corruption suffer morale decadence. Morale decadence and its associated counterproductive work behaviours culminate in productivity downturn. It had permeated many segments of the society, ravaged the corporate scene and left many nations in the travail of financial or economic woes. The principles of morals and leadership ethics have suffered for years. Work morale has deteriorated and productivity has fallen in firms. Illicit acts are noticeable in business institutions. Counter-productive and anti-social work behaviours have characterized a lot of firms in recent times. Budgets and financial records do not only lack the attributes of truth and fairness, but suffer credibility loss and unreliability for years. Institutions and designated authorities (nationally and internationally) have made tremendous effort to fight and exterminate this monstrous canker called corruption from the business environment. Yet, not much is achieved, rather much is required. Productivity downturn has not only caused many firms to collapse, but it has also caused economic recession in nations. This paper attempts to proffer useful inputs in the determination to fight corruption in the business world, recover trust and confidence amongst the members of business communities, heighten employees’ work morale and engender productivity upturn in business institutions.

Abstract: This paper investigates the emergence in the Modernity of an economic discourse intended to be autonomous from moral and political philosophy. The article demonstrates that the existence of economics as separated field of knowledge is recent and its creation related to the appearance of market economies, which might be regarded as an “objective condition for the possibility” of the economic discourse. The argument seeks to uncover the theoretical and practical assumptions of this particular branch of the social sciences in order to submit its “validity claims” to a critical scrutiny.

Abstract:
AbstractThe ‘public morals’ exception remains a key aspect of the international trade system; however, its outer bounds have never been precisely defined. This question became pertinent in the US–Tariff Measures panel report, which expansively read the exception to justify a wide range of economic interests, including prohibitions on economic espionage, anti-competitive behaviour, and the regulation of government takings. This note challenges the panel's interpretation, arguing that it is flawed and essentially amounts to a factual standard of review. It proposes an alternative approach to public morals review, which involves an objective standard of review of facts and law, while providing adequate deference to Members’ own factual determinations. It further engages with the issue of extraterritoriality, defending an approach based on Members’ legislative jurisdiction as this strikes a balance between Members’ right to regulate trade for moral purposes and the interests of the international community.

Abstract:
There is an apparent disconnect between much of the academic literature on tax compliance and the administration of tax policy. In the benchmark economic model, the key policy parameters affecting tax evasion are the tax rate, the detection probability, and the penalty imposed conditional on the evasion being detected. Meanwhile, tax administrators also tend to place a great deal of emphasis on the importance of improving “tax morale,” by which they generally mean increasing voluntary compliance with tax laws and creating a social norm of compliance. We will define tax morale broadly to include nonpecuniary motivations for tax compliance as well as factors that fall outside the standard, expected utility framework. Tax morale does indeed appear to be an important component of compliance decisions. We demonstrate that tax morale operates through a variety of underlying mechanisms, drawing on evidence from laboratory studies, natural experiments, and an emerging literature employing randomized field experiments. We consider the implications for tax policy and attempt to understand why recent interventions designed to improve morale, and thereby compliance, have had mixed results to date.
