Abstract:
This chapter describes networking for education for sustainable development within the Austrian ECOLOG-schools network. It discusses theoretical concepts of Education for Sustainable Development and school development from an Austrian perspective, as well as networks in education in general and the organization of the ECOLOG-network in particular. Furthermore, the international Environment and School Initiatives (ENSI) network is described as an influential stimulus for the development of ECOLOG. Based upon these foundations, the concept and results of evaluation studies of ECOLOG-schools are described and reflected. The impact of ECOLOG on the developments in environmental education/education for sustainable development in Austria is described and reflected. The paper concludes with a summary of the evaluation process and with an outlook for the future development of the network.

Abstract:
The article is devoted to the analysis of the structure of sown areas and characteristics of barley varieties zoned in the Kirov region for 2020. In 2019 in the Kirov region the varieties cultivated in production for more than 20 years had the largest specific weight – 50.1 % of the acreage occupied with barley. Those cultivated for more than 10 years had 36.1 %; from 5 to 10 years – 13.8 %. Certified sowings varied from year to year in percentage to the occupied area. There is a gradual decrease in unsorted sowings of barley from 3.0 thousand hectares in 2017 up to 1.18 thousand hectares in 2019. The areas sown with barley varieties bred in Federal Agricultural Research Center of the North East named N. V. Rudnitsky (FARC North-East) in the structure of sown areas in 2019 were from 21.5 % in the southern zone up to 57.8 % in the northern zone of the Kirov region. For the whole of the region the greatest distribution was recorded among Belarussian cultivars Zazersky 85 (39.3 % of the areas sown with barley), and cultivars bred in FARC North-East: Ecolog (10.8 %), Rodnik Prikamiya (7.1 %) and Novichok (7.0 %). In northern districts of the region the ratio changed: Ecolog – 27.2 %, Rodnik Prikamiya – 18.9 %, Novichok – 9.0 %, Zazersky 85 – 7.7 %. High productivity (4.22-4.79 t/ha in average), resistance to lodging and diseases characterize the zoned cultivars. The main disadvantage of barley assortment offered for zoning is the lack of stable yield and differences in duration of the growing season among the varieties. All cultivars belong to the group of mid-season, except for the mid-late cultivar Zazersky 85. The region is short of the sources of high-quality raw materials for forage production; only 30.7 % of all assortment of barley in the region are presented by cultivars with high grain quality (Ecolog, Belgorodsky 100, Rodnik Prikamiya and Pamyati Rodinoy). Currently, the trend for developing high-yield early, resistant to lodging and diseases barley varieties of high grain quality is to become the key factor in breeding work.

Abstract:
The work is devoted to estimation noise pollution generated by vehicles on the main and secondary highways in the city of Irkutsk. For this purpose, video surveillance of traffic composition and intensity was carried out at night and daylight hours. By sound level meter Testo-816 the measures of noise levels were conducted. Using the Ecolog-noise software complex, the noise propagation distance from the sources was modeled and the sound pressure level maps were created. The obtained results were compared with the current standards for permissible noise loads. An illustrative graph of the average daily noise level distribution shows that in Irkutsk there are two maxima (morning and evening) on all motorways. At the same time, night and day acoustic standards, set as maximum for both Russia and some European Union countries, are significantly violated. A possible set of recommendations is proposed to improve the existing urban transport system in order to reduce excessive noise and ensure the acoustic well-being of the population of residential areas adjacent to highways.

Abstract:
The ecolog-microbiological structure of activated sludge in nitrification-denitrification biological excess phosphorus removal (NDBEPR) systems in classic version with real wastewaters and in the presence of inhibitor o-nitrophenol (oNP) has been investigated. The amount of the essential physiological groups microorganisms (aerobic-heterotrophic, nitrifying, denitrifying, phosphorus removing bacteria (Poly P, Poly P denitrifying), nitrophenols-degrading and heterotrophic ammonia releasing bacteria) has been defined in the presence of low and high oNP-concentrations. The dynamics of activated sludge microbial structure has been discussed in effect on treatment efficiency towards different parameters – COD, PO43− elimination, ammonia-oxidation, oNP elimination. The results show that oNP decreases efficiency of biotreatment from 26% to 80% with the increasing of oNP concentration from 9.35 to 85.44 mg/l. The large flexibility and compensative possibilities of AS structure in NDBEPR systems have been established. The amount of poly P and oNP degrading bacteria is increased at high oNP concentration (85.44 mg/l). These microbial groups play the important buffer role for stabilization of BEPR in the presence of inhibitor, as well as for the biodetoxication of oNP.

Abstract:
The article examines the regulators of plant growth and development, their properties and influence on living organisms. The new evaluated preparation with the trade name “Cresolan” was studied and tested at the central experimental field at the “Uralets”, the educational farm of the Ural State Agrarian University. Various doses, periods, methods of use, combinations and its comparison with other similar preparations were studied (the experimental tests were carried out on spring wheat of the “Iren” variety and barley of the “Ecolog” variety). The spring wheat and barley plants showed great responsiveness to the preparation. According to the research results, a significant increase in the productivity and resistance of the studied grain crops was revealed, due to the increasing adaptive abilities of plants to the effects of unfavorable environmental factors. It was also concluded that it is necessary to generalize the material and to study some more issues for the development of an adapted technology of application of the plant growth and development regulator “Cresolan”, which ensures stable efficiency.

Abstract:
Our aim is to determine continuities and changes in the cañada of Yosotiche environment since the introduction by Spanish conquerors and settlers of new crops, especially sugarcane. A study of the biolog ical modifications of a particular ecosystem allows inferences on changes and continuities in socio-political relations. This particular case study contributes to a discussion of the general model of Mixtec political territoriality. The methodology applied here involves a convergence that integ rates the analysis of historical documents, archaeological data, fieldwork and anthropological information, along with discoveries made by earlier research. It offers insight into occupational dynamics and their ties to the political, administrative, economic and social structures within the cañada dur ing colonial times. The introduction of foreign crops produced changes in the ecolog ical complementarity system practiced by the villages that possessed lands in the cañada, consequently modifying the labour relations of the inhabitants. An analysis of this situation reveals the singular status of the lands owned by Tlaxiaco, which seemingly fit the regulations dictated by the Laws of the Indies but, in essence, meant the continuity of pre-Hispanic traditions.

Abstract:
Abstract The paper discusses noise mapping from the prospective of general evaluation of the state of the city environment. Suggested is a noise evaluation procedure based on a two-step spatial discretization - coarse and fine grids. The coarse grid is used for evaluation of average noise levels (background noise). For this, rather simple method is proposed, where average noise levels are estimated directly for the whole coarse grid cells instead of averaging the noise levels computed point-wise. The fine grid is used for finding the obstacle density to apply in calculations over the coarse grid. It may be used also for additional noise levels detailing in the close vicinity of noise sources where noise propagation is strongly affected by surrounding structures. The detailed results allow correction of the averages over the coarse grid. In comparison with other approaches, the suggested procedure takes little computing time to execute for the entire city. Test example shows reasonable agreement with results computed using the ‘Ecolog-Noise’ software package that has gained popularity in Russian Federation since its introduction in 2008. Another example describes the application of the proposed method for a moderate size densely built city.

Abstract:
The article presents a study of the environmental impact of dusting tailing dumps of rare-metal ore dressing in the Murmansk region of Russia. The purpose of the study was to establish patterns in the atmochemical halo migration of the dust pollution of loparite ore dressing tailings. The geotechnical characteristics and material composition of the tailings material have been investigated. Potentially dusty areas identified. Models of dispersion of inorganic dust under different meteorological scenarios are constructed: at low wind load, normal and unfavorable meteorological conditions. The modeling of the spread of pollutants in the area exposed to dust at the storage site was carried out in the program for modeling atmospheric pollution Ecolog-4.60. Calculation of the dispersion of inorganic dust containing 20–70% SiO2 showed that the atmochemical halo of tailings dust pollution spreads over tens of kilometers, and already at a wind speed of about 8 m/s, the concentration of suspended solids at the border of the enterprise sanitary protection zone exceeds the maximum one-time maximum permissible concentration is 3–3.3 times, and under unfavorable meteorological conditions—Dusting reaches the boundaries of the residential area (inhabited locality Revda), located in the north-west of the enterprise, and exceeds the MPCm.o. 1.5 times.

Abstract:
Introduction. As part of implementing the federal project “Clean air” provisions, the Human health risk assessment in Bratsk, Norilsk, Krasnoyarsk, Chita under the influence of ambient air-polluting chemicals was carried out. The main task of the risk assessment was to substantiate the list of priority chemicals that make the most significant contribution to risks (for monitoring and quoting) and to determine the primary sources of air pollution in the city with these substances (for subsequent quotas). Materials and methods. The initial information for assessing the exposure and human health risks in each city was the consolidated databases of stationary and mobile emissions sources. Calculations were carried out in standardized software products of the “Ecolog-Gorod” series. Risk indicators were determined under the provisions and requirements of the guideline R 2.1.10.1920-04. In each city, the calculations were performed at residential buildings (from 11 to 14 thousand points in the territory). Emissions from more than 1350 thousand sources were taken into account. Surface concentrations of 45 to 60 impurities in each city are considered. Results. Unacceptable, including high health risk, was found to form in all the cities studied. According to the hazard index, the diversity of exceeding the permissible risk levels reached 15-20 times. About 630 thousand people live in areas of unacceptable risk, including more than 200 thousand people in areas of high risk of diseases. Critical affected organs and systems are the respiratory systems, immune system, blood, offspring development, etc. The chemical impurities determined for each territory and their sources, which together contribute up to 90% to unacceptable risks, are considered as priorities for monitoring and quotas. Recommendations were developed to improve the procedure for preparing initial data for risk assessment and verify the results of risk assessment by epidemiological and medical-demographic studies.

Abstract:
Introduction. The object of the study is the results obtained during the implementation of the Federal Project (FP) “Clean Air” in 2020 in the supervised participating cities and the assessment of the possibility of implementing the tasks set for Rospotrebnadzor for effective health risk management, reducing morbidity and mortality of the population. The purpose of the study is to assess the risk to public health according to the summary calculations of atmospheric air pollution in the cities of Cherepovets, Lipetsk, Omsk, Novokuznetsk during the implementation of the FP “Clean Air” (baseline, 2017). Materials and methods. The primary approach to implementing the FP “Clean Air” in 2020 is to use the initial data (summary calculations of atmospheric air pollution) and obtain on their basis the levels of exposure and risks to public health. A software product of the “Ecolog-Gorod” series was used to calculate single and average annual concentrations. The health risk assessment procedure was carried out under the requirements of the manual R 2.1.10.1920-04. Results. Studies were conducted to assess the risk to public health based on the data of summary calculations of atmospheric air pollution in the cities participating in the FP “Clean Air” (Cherepovets, Lipetsk, Omsk, Novokuznetsk) in 2017 before the start of the measures provided for by the Comprehensive Plans to reduce emissions of pollutants into the atmospheric air. The assessment of the public health risk from atmospheric air pollution made it possible to establish: priority compounds contained in industrial emissions, the primary industrial sources and their share contribution, as well as the contribution of motor transport and independent heat supply sources emissions to the formation of pollution levels in cities; the population exposed to unacceptable risk levels were determined; substances that should be taken into account when quoting emissions were identified. The variants of improving the quality of preparation of the initial data of summary calculations for health risk assessment are recommended. Conclusion. There are suggested approaches to improving the quality of preparation of initial data of consolidated calculations for health risk assessment.

Abstract:
One of major factors of deterioration in a microclimate of urban development in the conditions of the Rostov region, is degradation of landscapes owing to violation of water balance of the territory. In article the main reasons for violation of water balance which included natural features of the region, a consequence of anthropogenic influence, climatic changes, etc. are considered. Examples from the world practice of urban planning, which show the relevance and effectiveness of compensation for the effects of anthropogenic im-pacts and climate change using planning methods, are given. The experience of the United States, the Nether-lands, Canada and other countries that use water-saving technologies in planning is considered. The rela-tionship of urban planning and the formation of sustainable urban landscapes is shown. The integration of water-saving technologies into the urban environment can be a means of optimizing landscapes and a means of creating unique urban spaces. Reclamation of the urban landscape of low-rise buildings is a necessary step in creating a modern and comfortable urban environment in the conditions of the Rostov region. Meth-ods are proposed to compensate for negative changes in urban landscapes that can be applied at the stage of urban planning. As well as the proposed methods can be applied in the reconstruction of urban low-rise buildings. The considered methods concern not only urban landscapes, but also agricultural landscapes that surround small and medium-sized cities of the Rostov region. In article the author's concept of the organiza-tion of the low housing estate on a basis Urban- facies is submitted. Planning methods of regulation of water balance of the territory on the basis of models the ecological protective of landscapes are offered: an ecolog-ical core, an ecological corridor and an ecological barrier and also analogs from town-planning practice are considered. The reclamation of urban landscapes based on urban planning methods for regulating the water balance of the territory will allow creating unique urban spaces that are resistant to local climatic conditions and the possible consequences of climate change.

Abstract:Historical ecology is a new interdisciplinary research program concerned with comprehending temporal and spatial dimensions in the relationships of human societies to local environments and the cumulative global effects of these relationships. Nowadays the term „ecology” is widely used not only in life sciences, but in a political discourse and in everyday life as well. Such a broad use of the concept leads to a situation that the term is under-stood in quite different ways that sometimes even can contradict. This article draws attention to various applications of the term „ecology” by dividing it into romantic, scientific, and political ecology. At the same time, this classification does not mean that there is not any common ground between these ecolo-gies. The history of ecological ideas demonstrates that they often overlap and have mutual impact.

Abstract:
Organic fertilizer regimens consisting of combinations of composts (yard waste, swine manure, or spent mushroom substrate) and liquid fertilizers (fish- or plant-based) were evaluated against conventional hydroponic fertilizers in two experiments with greenhouse tomatoes grown in peat-based substrate. Crop yield and fruit quality were evaluated and several assays of substrate microbial activity and community profiles (fluorescein diacetate analysis and EcoLog, values, nematode counts) were conducted. Crops grown in 20% to 40% compost (yard waste or yard waste plus swine manure) plus a continuously applied liquid source of organic potassium (K), calcium (Ca), magnesium (Mg), and sulphate (SO4) could not be sustained more than 1 month before nutrient deficiencies became visible. Supplementation with a nitrogen (N)- and phosphorus (P)-containing plant-based liquid fertilizer at the point when plant deficiencies became apparent subsequently produced yields ≈80% that of the hydroponic control. In a second experiment, the proportion of mushroom or yard waste compost was increased to 50% of the mix, and liquid delivery of K, Ca, Mg and SO4 plus either plant-based or fish-based N- and P-containing liquid feeds was started at the date of transplanting. In this case, organic yields equal to that of the hydroponic control (8.5 kg/plant) were observed in some treatments. The most productive organic treatment was the mushroom compost supplemented with a low concentration of the plant-based liquid fertilizer. In general, organic tomatoes had a lower postharvest decay index (better shelf life) than did the hydroponic controls, possibly as an indirect consequence of overall reduced yield in those treatments. High concentrations of both organic liquid feeds resulted in lower yields as a result of treatment-induced fusarium crown and root rot. In contrast to some previous studies, those treatments showing fusarium crown and root rot also had the highest gross microbial activity. Measures of gross microbial activity and numbers of microbivorous nematodes were higher (average of 37% and 6.7 times, respectively) in compost/organic feed treatments than in the hydroponic control. Community physiological profiles of the bacterial populations, on the other hand, did not differ between organic and hydroponic treatments. Nematode populations were significantly correlated with gross microbial activity in the organic treatments.

Abstract:
Introduction. The fulfillment of effective measures to manage the level of dust pollution in the atmospheric air of settlements requires correct hygienic assessments of the situation and reliable data on the sources of particulate emissions. The purpose of the study was to substantiate what is need to take into account the entire set of solid emitted components when conducting hygienic assessments of the situation, including the consideration and approval of draft standards for permissible emissions and projects of sanitary protection zones. Materials and methods. On the example of a large industrial enterprise, calculations of the dust emissions dispersion were made with and without taking into account the total mass of solid components. Source parameters are taken according to the enterprise inventory list. Dispersion calculations were carried out using the standardized program “Ecolog-City”. Results. For each individual solid substance at the border of the sanitary protection zone and at the points of the nearest housing no violations of hygienic standards were established to be recorded. The situation was characterized as normative, not requiring measures to improve the safety of the population. The total release of the solid component of emissions (TSP) created an excess of the hygienic standard for the group “suspended substances” (0.5 mg/m3) at the border of the sanitary protection zone. The zone of excess pollution (more than 1 MPC) extended to the residential area. The level of pollution calculated from the totality of solid substances was satisfactorily corresponded with the data of instrumental measurements. Limitations. The limitation of the study is related to the fact that the obtained results characterize a particular enterprise, however, the principal approaches used can be applied to any similar studies. Conclusion. It seems appropriate to harmonize the concept of “suspended matter” with the definition adopted by the World Health Organization, establishing that suspended matter is the total amount of solid particles of organic and inorganic substances. Fixing such a concept in sanitary rules and regulations ensures the correctness of the hygienic assessment of the situation, the comparability of calculated and natural data, the absence of contradictions between the established emission standards for each type of dust and the results of a health risk assessment (performed taking into account the sum of all particulate matter). The use of MPCs for various types of dust remains an important tool for identifying emission sources and preventing the negative impact of dusts with carcinogenic or highly toxic properties.

Abstract: The above work aims to discuss the relationships that extend between cultural rights and Human Ecology. In a bibliographical and analytical way, we present the path that leads from the definition of culture to cultural rights. Within this discussion, we analyze the Universal Declaration of Human Rights as a first step in promoting cultural rights, which is important for deepening the discussion and extending the due debate. In a second moment, cultural rights and cultural public policies in Brazil stand out, presenting a history that goes through the constitution and application of cultural rights through the developed public policies. Therefore, human ecology is discussed in its scope of cultural ecology, in favor of analyzing the importance of cultural rights within this matter. Based on the Friborg Declaration, an international document that deals with the application of cultural rights, this analysis will be carried out through 3 aspects: the self-determination of peoples, the right to identity and cultural heritage, and the principles of democratic governance. Thus, we understand that cultural human ecology and cultural rights have a mutual and interdependent relationship to achieve their goals. Abstract:

Abstract:
Contributions by Marx on the society-nature relation and the ecological imperialism in Latin America Abstract Political ecology is a field of study that is historically contextualized and is divided into theoretical currents and epistemological discussions. One of them is Marxist ecology, which is based on Marx’s and Engels’s thought and uses the method of historical materialism to analyze the issue of nature. Thus, aim of this paper is to understand the main contributions of Marxist ecology to Latin American political ecology by focusing on the relations between society and nature, theoretically interpreted by Marxist ecologists on Marx’s thesis and the concept of ecological imperialism, analyzed by Marxist ecology authors, which in concrete reality has a strong role in the domination of nature in Latin America. The article is structured in an initial explanation of the main contributions of Marx's thought, as the concept of social metabolism refers to his conception of the relations between nature and the human being, and its “fracture” in the capitalist production mode, essential to understand the functioning of capitalism on the exploitation of nature. In this academic work, the main objective is to point out what are the most central concepts that the Marxist thought, by its interpretation of the Marxian work focused on ecology, can contribute to the ecological issue in Latin America. For this reason, the concept of ecological imperialism is added to the debate, as one of the issues that most affect the countries of the Global South, therefore central to the argument, to make a correlation between Latin America political ecology and the reading of Marxist ecology from Marx’s contributions. The article is classified as theoretical research and it is assumed that ecology can be an important social and political tool, which has the potential to act as an emancipatory political force. The objective of this study is to provide a basis for the landscape reconstruction in urban industrial wasteland. The study shows that the urban industrial wasteland has the following landscape potentials: providing the urban green space, improving the urban leisure system, enriching the urban history and culture, and meeting the development trend of the environmental protection. After reconstruction, the landscapes in urban industrial wasteland would have the following functions: ecology education, leisure and recreation, “Habitat Patch” and disaster prevention. The urban industrial wasteland can be reconstructed into urban theme parks, developed with industrial tourism and urban sight-seeing agriculture, or constructed into the zones for preserving and restoring the biological diversity through ecologic suitability analysis, landscape structure planning, and landscape ecology planning and ecological engineering methods. To form an ecology-economy-society integrated system is a new approach to the wasteland treatment.

Abstract:
In order to study current problems and prospects of the ecological tourism development on the territory of the Ukrainian Car-pathians Forest fund, a sociological survey was conducted among Ukrainian citizens. The share of tourists who rested on this territory and are interested in traveling to nature protection sites in order to feel the aesthetics and cleanliness of these objects, get acquainted with local traditions and stay in the unchanging natural conditions of the Ukrainian Carpathians is studied. Atten-tion is drawn to the current problems and relevance of the study of ecological tourism on the territory of the Ukrainian Carpathians Forest fund, since the forest plays a significant role in the development of this type of tourism. A comparative characterization is made between mass and ecological tourism, since mass tourism is considered as a more traditional form of tourism development, where shortterm free market principles dominate, income maximization is paramount, and ecological tourism corresponds to the concept of sustainable development. The main factors that hinder the development of ecological tourism on the territory of the Ukrainian Carpathians Forest fund are considered. The key factors are the lack of information, ignorance of potential visitors about the possibility of functioning of ecological tourism on the territory of the Ukrainian Carpathians Forest fund, illegal logging, fires, lack of proper infrastructure and the lack of a stepbystep education system in the sphere of tourist and recreational complex, the lack of specialized structures capable of organizing and coordinating the development of ecological tourism at the regional level. It is revealed that effective economic and legal regulation will contribute to the successful development of ecolog-ical tourism. The assessment of the level of ecological tourism development on the territory of the Ukrainian Carpathians Forest fund was carried out by identifying its strengths and weaknesses, opportunities and threats, as a result of which the main idea of ecological tourism was established: environmental protection, new sources of financing for the nature reserve fund, improving the ecological wellbeing of the population and developing society in accordance with the concept of sustainable development. Keywords: ecological tourism, mass tourism, ecotourist, territories of forest fund, ecological wellbeing, the Ukrainian Carpathians.
