Abstract:
PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to reveal the impact of the e-tailers’ product variety decisions on their logistics service quality (LSQ) in B2C e-marketplaces. Furthermore, it investigates the mediation of transaction intensity and the moderation of the perceived technical quality in this relationship.Design/methodology/approachThe data were collected from one of Turkey’s biggest e-marketplace firms, N11.com. Consumer evaluations and the e-tailers’ product offers were used to operationalize research variables. Structural equation modeling was used to test the research hypotheses.FindingsProduct variety increases the sales of e-tailers but negatively affects their LSQ. This negative effect does not stem from the operational complexity resulting from increased sales; on the contrary, transaction intensity actually suppresses the negative effect of product variety on LSQ. This study additionally reveals that the perceived technical quality weakens the negative impact of product variety on LSQ.Originality/valueThe intense competition in e-marketplaces makes LSQ a key competitive factor, highlighting the importance of revealing its determinants. Although the negative effect of product variety on operational performance has been revealed in manufacturing and physical retailing environments, it has been under-investigated in online retailing. Drawing on a knowledge-based view, this study reveals how product variety decreases LSQ in the online context despite its unique features (i.e. temporal and spatial separation). Moreover, by demonstrating that the delivered product’s instrumental performance affects the perceived LSQ, it reveals that technical quality and functional quality are not disjoint components in online purchases.

In this paper we prove the existence of e-free objects in each e-variety of E-solid regular semigroups and in each e-variety of locally inverse regular semigroups. By contrast, we show that there is no e-free object in other e-varieties.

Abstract:
The activity of vitamin E, total content of tocols and the content of individual isomers: α-tocopherols, β-tocopherols, γ-tocopherols and δ-tocopherols was monitored in samples of hop cones of the world-important Saaz variety. Hop cone samples originated from hop-breeding area Tršice, Czech Republic. The method used for the determination of vitamin E in barley was modified and used for this quantitative analysis. The results indicate that monitored characteristics are influenced by the year of harvest (2010 or 2011) but also by the age of hop-gardens (hop bucks). High values of vitamin E activity (up to 67.79 mg.kg−1) and total content of tocols (up to 76.31 mg.kg−1) in hop cones are worth further attention from the viewpoint of alternative use of hops.

Abstract:
The paper deals with a broad variety of names featured in the three-volume Lamentations of the Northern Land published by Elpidifor Barsov in 1872–1885. The toponymy of lamentations has been repeatedly addressed by researchers as the most prevalent and diverse class of proper names due to its symbolic weight and a pronounced local colour. This study aims to bridge the gaps in the systemic description of other categories of names presented in this collection (ethnonyms, chrononyms, theonyms and hagionyms, anthroponyms, and onomastic derivatives). These may lack the diversity of toponyms but are intrinsically related to the genre of lamentation in terms of their composition and usage. Therefore, a comprehensive description of these classes is required, primarily from the standpoint of linguistic pragmatics. Christian onyms (theonyms, hagionyms, chrononyms, ecclesionyms, names of icons (iconyms)) are most frequent in lamentations, which reflects the later influence of Orthodox worldview on this archaic genre and the proliferation of Christian naming patterns. Alternatively, the same could be explained by intergeneric influence, meaning that Orthodox vocabulary and semantic oppositions in lamentations could be assimilated from spiritual verses. The fact that lamentations were only performed by women also speaks on favour of the genre-driven nature of their onymic composition, abound in proper names reflecting the “female” perspective. These include regional toponyms forming a local image of space, mentions of “female” calendar holidays, religious names reflecting a special role of the Mother of God cult. The onomasticon of lamentations is also an important linguo-geographic source. For example, the predominance of Olonets toponymy in Lamentations and its hydrocentricity (a large share of names of water bodies and settlements located near large lakes and rivers) attests to the North Russian origin of this genre. Frequent mentions of the names of monasteries and the near-by holy sources, facts of ecclesiastical naming of cemeteries, and other local features also highlight the regional specificity of this collection.

Abstract:
AbstractA locally inverse semigroup is a regular semigroup S with the property that eSe is inverse for each idempotent e of S. Motivated by natural examples such as inverse semigroups and completely simple semigroups, these semigroups have been the subject of deep structure-theoretic investigations. The class ℒ ℐ of locally inverse semigroups forms an existence variety (or e-variety): a class of regular semigroups closed under direct products, homomorphic images and regular subsemigroups. We consider the lattice ℒ(ℒℐ) of e-varieties of such semigroups. In particular we investigate the operations of taking meet and join with the e-variety CS of completely simple semigroups. An important consequence of our results is a determination of the join of CS with the e-variety of inverse semigroups – it comprises the E-solid locally inverse semigroups. It is shown, however, that not every e-variety of E-solid locally inverse semigroups is the join of completely simple and inverse e-varieties.

Abstract:
Organic Rices, such as Jasmine variety white organic rice, Saodah variety red organic rice, and Java variety black organic rice, are many cultivated by farmer in Indonesia, especially Sleman area, DI Yogyakarta. The potency of three varieties of organic rice as antioxidant source hasn’t been studied. Therefore this research was done to know the effect of pigment color difference in three varieties of organic rice on antioxidant activity, especially 1,1-diphenyl-2- pycrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical scavenging activity and ion reducing power. The results showed that Saodah variety red organic rice had the highest antioxidant potency because it had the highest total phenol and total flavonoid, 37.93 mg GAE/g sample dry base and 0.85 mg CE/g sample dry base, respectively. However Saodah variety red organic rice had total anthocyanin lower than that of Java variety black organic rice, 0.0025 mg/g sample dry base and 0.024 mg/g sample dry base, respectively. Anthocyanin compounds identified in three varieties of organic rice were cyanidine-3-glucoside at 32 minute time retention and peonidine -3-glucoside at 37 minute time retention. 1,1-diphenyl-2-pycrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical scavenging activity and ion reducing power of Saodah variety red organic rice were the highest, 0.90 mg equivalent vitamin E/g sample dry base and 278.28 mg equivalent vitamin E/g sample dry base, respectively. Keywords: Pigment, organic rice, antioxidant activity ABSTRAKBeras organik, meliputi beras putih varietas Jasmine, merah varietas Saodah, dan hitam varietas Jawa, banyak dibudidayakan oleh masyarakat di Indonesia, terutama daerah Sleman, D.I. Abstract:
Grafting by vegetables is a practice with many benefits, but also with some unknown influences on the chemical composition of the fruits. Our goal was to assess the effects of grafting and storage on the extracted juice of four orange-fleshed Cantaloupe type (Celestial, Donatello, Centro, Jannet) melons and two green-fleshed Galia types (Aikido, London), using sensory profile analysis and analytical instruments: An electronic tongue (E-tongue) and near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS). Both instruments are known for rapid qualitative and quantitative food analysis. Linear discriminant analysis (LDA) was used to classify melons according to their varieties and storage conditions. Partial least square regression (PLSR) was used to predict sensory and standard analytical parameters. Celestial variety had the highest intensity for sensory attributes in Cantaloupe variety. Both green and orange-fleshed melons were discriminated and predicted in LDA with high accuracies (100%) using the E-tongue and NIRS. Galia and Cantaloupe inter-varietal classification with the E-tongue was 89.9% and 82.33%, respectively. NIRS inter-varietal classification was 100% with Celestial variety being the most discriminated as with the sensory results. Both instruments, classified different storage conditions of melons (grafted and self-rooted) with high accuracies. PLSR showed high accuracy for some standard analytical parameters, where significant differences were found comparing different varieties in ANOVA.

Abstract:
A natural concept of variety for regular semigroups is introduced: an existence variety (or e-variety) of regular semigroups is a class of regular semigroups closed under the operations H, Se, P of taking all homomorphic images, regular subsernigroups and direct products respectively. Examples include the class of orthodox semigroups, the class of (regular) locally inverse semigroups and the class of regular E-solid semigroups. The lattice of e-varieties of regular semigroups includes the lattices of varieties of inverse semigroups and of completely regular semigroups. A Birkhoff-type theorem is proved, showing that each e-variety is determined by a set of identities: such identities are then given for many e-varieties. The concept is meaningful in universal algebra, and as for regular semigroups could give interesting results for e-varieties of regular rings.

AbstractLet and denote respectively the variety of groups of exponent dividing e, the variety of nilpotent groups of class at most c, the class of nilpotent groups and the class of finite groups. It follows from a result due to Kargapolov and Čurkin and independently to Groves that in a variety not containing all metabelian groups, each polycyclic group G belongs to . We show that G is in fact in , where c is an integer depending only on the variety. On the other hand, it is not always possible to find an integer e (depending only on the variety) such that G belongs to but we characterize the varieties in which that is possible. In this case, there exists a function f such that, if G is d-generated, then G ∈ So, when e = 1, we obtain an extension of Zel'manov's result about the restricted Burnside problem (as one might expect, this result is used in our proof). Finally, we show that the class of locally nilpotent groups of a variety forms a variety if and only if for some integers c′, e′.

Abstract:
SUMMARYThe objective of this study was to develop a basic variety selection decision support system (DSS) based on industry legalities, varietal characteristics and structured genotype-by-environment (G × E) analyses. Trial data extracted from a variety trial database at the South African Sugarcane Research Institute (SASRI) were categorized into different regions, harvest ages (12, 18, 24 months) and harvest seasons (early, mid, late season harvests). Restricted maximum likelihood analyses were conducted regionally to determine varietal adaptability to different harvest ages and seasons. Highly significant variety × harvest age and variety × season interactions allowed for the appropriate categorization of varieties. Varietal adaptability to different yield potential conditions was determined using the sites regression technique, and varietal adaptability was interpreted from the slope of the regression curves. The analysed data were used to create simplistic ‘yes/no’ spreadsheets, which were housed within a relational database. A web interface linked to the database allows users to specify characteristics of their production environment. The system then selects appropriate varieties that conform to specified criteria and eliminates non-compliers in a stepwise approach. The system was subsequently validated against expert extension specialist opinion and acceptable performance was observed.

AbstractA coarse group is a group endowed with a coarse structure so that the group multiplication and inversion are coarse mappings. Let {(X,\mathcal{E})} be a coarse space, and let {\mathfrak{M}} be a variety of groups different from the variety of singletons. We prove that there is a coarse group {F_{\mathfrak{M}}(X,\mathcal{E})\in\mathfrak{M}} such that {(X,\mathcal{E})} is a subspace of {F_{\mathfrak{M}}(X,\mathcal{E})}, X generates {F_{\mathfrak{M}}(X,\mathcal{E})} and every coarse mapping {(X,\mathcal{E})\to(G,\mathcal{E}^{\prime})}, where {G\in\mathfrak{M}}, {(G,\mathcal{E}^{\prime})} is a coarse group, can be extended to coarse homomorphism {F_{\mathfrak{M}}(X,\mathcal{E})\to(G,\mathcal{E}^{\prime})}. If {\mathfrak{M}} is the variety of all groups, the groups {F_{\mathfrak{M}}(X,\mathcal{E})} are asymptotic counterparts of Markov free topological groups over Tikhonov spaces.

Many Polytechnics have adopted a variety of Learning Management Systems (LMS) as platforms for e-learning. The key to effective e-learning implementation courses is not multimedia, rollovers, or drag-and-drop interactions. It is how the students get engaged by the content. A desktop review was carried out to explore and establish conceptions of how e-learning tools can enable and sustain student’s engagement in the learning processes. The review shows that e-learning tools can enable and sustain students content engagement through content presentation tools, critical engagement through collaboration tools, self-regulated learning through assessment tools, self-engagement through the variety provided by e-learning tools, on-task engagement through access to information through hyperlinks/email, and substantive engagement through the ability for students to skip material they already know and understand, and concentrate on new knowledge. The review was gathered based on primary data (Questionnaire). It was concluded that regardless of the available tools, e-learning can be implemented at various levels.

Abstract:
Field experiments were conducted from July to November during the 2012 and 2013 cropping seasons, at the Research Farm, University of Agriculture, Makurdi, Nigeria, to evaluate the yields of two newly introduced sesame varieties (Ex Sudan and SN 603) against the commonly grown variety “E-8” under intercropping with maize variety ‘Oba 98’. The trial area consisted of a total of seven treatments, replicated three times in a randomized complete block design. The results showed that, though maize yield was not significantly (P ≤ 0.05) affected by intercropping with sesame varieties, however, intercropped yield of sesame variety ‘Ex Sudan’ was significantly (P ≤ 0.05) greater by 26.8 % and 25.6 % respectively, in years 2012 and 2013, compared to that obtained from intercropped sesame variety ‘SN 603’, and by 19.5 % and 20.9 % respectively, in years 2012 and 2013, compared to that produced from intercropped popular sesame variety ‘E-8’. Intercropping maize variety ‘Oba 98’ with sesame variety ‘Ex Sudan’ gave the highest total intercrop yield, greatest biological efficiency with a relative yield total values of 0.87 and 0.91 respectively, in 2012 and 2013. The combination also recorded the highest land equivalent ratio (LER), highest land equivalent coefficient, highest area x time equivalent ratio (ATER), highest total monetary returns (N584,200 and N588,600 respectively, in years 2012 and 2013) and highest monetary equivalent ratio (MER). The implication of study showed that sesame variety ‘Ex Sudan’ performed best and could therefore be recommended as a potential replacement for the popular variety ‘E-8’ under intercropping with maize variety ‘Oba 98’ in Makurdi, Nigeria.

Palavra-chave: Tuberosa. Abstract:
Abstract The MicroSnap Coliform and E. coli system was devised to give rapid enumeration and detection of coliforms and/or Escherichia coli strains in a sample of food within an 8h working shift. The method measures β-galactosidase and β-glucuronidase enzymes using novel bioluminogenic substrates which develop an outputlight signal proportional to the concentration of enzyme discovered. The assay uses two different phasesto determine the enzyme concentration. The first phase is an enrichment of the sample in a nutrient-richbroth device at 37 ± 0.5°C. After 6 or8 h, an aliquot is taken from the enrichment device and injected into the Coliform Detection Device, which is assayed in a luminometer after 10 min of incubation at 37 ± 0.5°C. Samples testing positive in the Coliform Detection Device can be subsequently assayed specifically for E. coli using the E. coli Detection Device. The relative light unit output from the detection device is proportional to the bacterial concentration when the incubation was initiated, which is proportional to the contamination level in the matrix being assessed. The MicroSnap Coliform and E. coli system was evaluated for both quantitative and qualitative analysis of coliforms and E. coli in a variety of foods. Threedifferent luminometers were used in the analysis, each of which has different functionalities and different sensitivities. The MicroSnap method showed good correlation with the appropriate corresponding reference method for enumeration of coliforms and E. coli. A statistically significant difference was seen in detection of E. coli in milk, as reported by the independent laboratory. The reference method reported higher mean Log10 CFU counts than the MicroSnap method; however, no significant differences were seen between the MicroSnap system and reference methods for any ofthe other matrixes. Inclusivity testing was conducted on 25 different non-E. coli coliforms and 25 different E. coli strains, and exclusivity testing was conducted on 30 different species of nontarget organisms. Two E.coli strains were not detected in the Coliform Detection Device after 8 h on one of the instruments. All other inclusivity strains tested were detected after 8 h of incubation. None of the exclusivity strains were detected. The lot-to-lot and kit stability studies showed no statistical differences between lots or over the term of the shelf-life. Robustness studies indicate that the timing of incubation for the detection phase is critical for correct system functioning.

Abstract:
The impact of barley variety and its geographical growth location (environment) on the flavour of new make spirit was investigated to determine if “terroir” can be applied in the production of single malt whisk(e)y. New make spirits were produced at laboratory scale under controlled conditions from two different barley varieties (Olympus and Laureate) grown at two distinct environments (Athy, Co Kildare and Bunclody, Co Wexford) in Ireland over two consecutive seasons (2017 and 2018). The spirit samples were analysed by gas chromatography mass spectrometry olfactometry and descriptive sensory analysis. Forty-two volatiles were detected with eight deemed as very influential and fifteen deemed as influential to the aroma of new make spirit. Sensory attributes were influenced by barley variety, environment, and the interactions thereof over both seasons, with environment and the interaction of variety x environment having a greater impact than variety alone. Chemometric analysis of the olfactometry and sensory data found that both environment and season had a greater impact on the aromatic sensory perception of the new make spirits than variety alone. Therefore, this study clearly demonstrates a “terroir” impact on the flavour of new make spirit and highlights its potential importance especially in relation to single malt whisk(e)y.

AbstractDative alternation is that sort of construction which requires a choice from two available choices; the double object (DOC) (i. e. Please give Mary the book) and the preposition construction (TOC) (i. e. Please give the book to Mary). Empirical evidence detailing the characteristics and motivations of dative choices in different varieties have been put forward in the literature. Albeit, nothing is known about the nature and motivations of this phenomenon in Nigerian variety of English, an important source of empirical evidence in the English-world-wide paradigm. With 739 sentences extracted from International Corpus of English, we examined the effects of 16 predictors on this construction in the Nigerian variety; showing how the behavior of these predictors compares with findings reported in other varieties. Among other findings, we found that overall Nigerian variety is closer to American variety than Indian variety, and pronominality as the strongest predictor, outweighing register as a reputable predictor.

Abstract:
Tire interpretation of variety trials conducted with many genotypes (G) grown in many environments (E) is usually complicated by the presence of the significant G × E interaction. The common statistical analysis using ANOVA and linear regression techniques are often inadequate to study the complex two-way data structure. The biplot, a multivariate technique provides, a graphical representation of the interaction, which allows the response of each G in each E to be displayed in a two dimensional plot. It displays not only the configuration of G and E, but it also relates the two. The importance of biplot display is illustrated by using the tall fescue variety trial data on mean quality ratings published by the National Turfgrass Evacuation Program. The biplot displays about 60% of the information in the 24 (G) × 23 (E) data matrix. Environments TX3 and GA1 responded differently from other environments. Based on the biplot display genotypes are grouped and their significance will be discussed.
